I was trying to acquire some information about the H. Pylori, and as I was reading there are a lot of abbreviations that I have no idea what they stand for. ACV PUD There were others, but I can't remember what they were. Some were linked to remedies that I would like to try, but I have no idea what goes in them. Is there a list of abbreviations somewhere, or some way to find out what they stand for?

EC: Hi LG,

Here are is a short list of abbreviations on our site: https://www.earthclinic.com/guides.html

ACV is the acronym for Apple Cider Vinegar
PUD is the acronym for Peptic Ulcer Disease

Is it best to contact ted email directly or go thru EC site for Health Questions for him. I sent emails to his parhat email address but I'm not sure if he received it ?

EC: Hi Joseph,

Ted probably received your email, but doesn't have time to respond to many questions, unfortunately. Also, he won't answer a question if he's covered the topic in previous answers.

Either emailing Ted or submitting a question to the site is about the same.

Hi, I have written twice now about the same questions and have not seen either post. Am I doing something wrong or looking in the wrong place? I wait 24 hours and go to latest post. Thanks, Thracia

EC: Hi Thracia, since your post was addressed to Ted, you can find it on Ted's Latest Q&A page.

The other page where your question has been posted is the Q&A section of Fibromyalgia Remedies here: https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/treatment-for-fibromyalgia-pain-symptoms_questions.html#Question_2788

EC: Hi Brianna,

BHT is Butylated hydroxytoluene, an antioxidant food additive. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butylated_hydroxytoluene

Acronyms and Abbreviations

I would like to suggest that you take the time to spell out your three letter abbreviations and acronyms (such ACV for apple cider vinegar, for example). To read a post that uses these if one does not already know what they are is irritating and completely defeats the purpose of communicating.

Alternatively you could make links out of all these abbreviations to a nomenclature page which gave the meanings. This would make your whole site more effective and reduce the bewildering array of undefined terms.

EC: Hi Ahj,

We already have a page for Acronyms and Abbreviations - it just must not be clearly visible. We link to it on the remedy and ailments index pages: https://www.earthclinic.com/guides.html.

We'll start spelling out more acronyms in the new, incoming posts. Thanks for bringing this up.

Hello EC. I have been reading and posting on this site for a while now and have some concerns as of today. I had asked Ted some questions about borax and soy safety and he did respond back to me , but now I can not find that post of mine or his response any where on earth clinic... All my other post I am able to find. I started looking at Ted recommendations, for people with health concerns and have noticed as of late he is not so much mentioning borax internally, but still is giving instructions for externally.

Are you all moving away from useing borax internally?

Should I be concerned? Because I used it over a six week period internally in the summer of 2008.

I just find it strange that these questions and TEDS response back to me is no longer on here. And it was in the last week or so that I posted it.

Also, I noticed EC dates back to 1999, but I never see any post past 2006, is there an archive or are post deleated after a certain amount of time?

It's to late if for me if borax is not being used internally anymore, as I have already taken it over one year ago, But if Ted is moving away internal suggestions... Then it should be NOTED on the Borax page.

Thank You,
Phil

EC: Hi Phil,

Your post and Ted's response about borax is still on the site! It's here - https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/borax2.html#GF. Nothing was removed.

Okay, this is very weird. I just found your post on the Latest Posts page and then lost it. It seems to be caught in between page 1 and page 2! If you click on the Latest Post link, you won't find it, but if you go to the bottom of Latest Posts page 2 and click the link for page 1, you will find your post. This is obviously a programming malfunction. Thanks for catching it! This is the url to find your posts. https://www.earthclinic.com/latest_posts.php?Start=1.

Dates: Prior to 2006, no dates were posted on Earth Clinic. Read more about the EC dating system here: https://www.earthclinic.com/guides.html#notes (see #3).

Posts are rarely deleted on the site, nor is anything archived except for the Fibromyalgia Questionnaire forms. We will eventually have to start an archive system as some ailments are starting to contain too many pages of feedback like the Bacterial Vaginosis.

Hello EC! I am probably the most paranoid person you all will ever have contact with and there is a story behind that, but we will save that for another day!!!

Anyway I feel great, But I guess sometimes the fear of the unknown can wear on any of us... I just got real concerned ( Paranoid ) when I did not see my post.

I definitely feel as though the borax internally helped me alot ... I had just read on some other website about the dangers and got paranoid. But the ideal of taking a small amount of a poison is not NEW... My aunt, for years has taking real sulfer in capules for her kidney infections and the medical doctor has told her that it would kill her. But she is still alive and doing fine. She has done this all of her life. I just got a little paranoid, I GUESS I MISSED A DOSE OF MY NIACINAMIDE( B-3), I'm ok now. LOL!

Thank You for all that you do!

Sincerely,
Phil

EC: Hi Phil, no no no not paranoid at all! I would have wondered where the heck my stuff was too! I was wondering why a few people kept writing in wondering where their posts were! Most importantly, you brought sometime to our attention that needed to be fixed on the database, so I am very appreciative. Thank you!

Dear Phil: Borax is a regular remedy I have used and is very often used here to get to get hormones level to normal levels, if they were low. It's one of the most useful supplements I use. The most used is alkaline (baking soda, potassium bicarbonate, potassium citrate, etc), and in the future you will be seeing more of iodine and borax also. Iodine drives out fluoride, bromine that accumulates over your lifetime and hence borax is to remove fluoride, and iodine is to remove bromine, and sodium thiosulfate is to reduce chlorine. Hence, borax is one of the remedies I used most frequently. It helps normalize bone metabolism, normalize magnesium to calcium ratio, is a required mineral, normalizes hormone for both men and woman, it has a weak viagra properties which is helpful for people 40s and up. It's removal of fluoride I have found normalizes my sleep pattern and now I have taken up to iodine (lugol's solution) as it has the benefit of alkalizing effect, and drives out fluorides and bromines as well.

It should be noted that in 1971, all flour processing switched from iodine to bromine, and hence you get iodine deficiencies when iodine is replaced with another halogen, that has no nutritional benefit at all. Hence this is white bread and white flour are so unhealthy.

In response to your mention of B3, the B3 is one of the few vitamins that support pancreas function in normalizing blood sugar. One of the most difficult areas I have in health is the issue of sugar. B1, B3 Niacinamide and B6 are the common B vitamins I used for blood sugar. B3 reduces anxiety, emotional disturbances, suicidal tendencies, etc. In general, B3 has a calming effects and is synergistic with amino acid supplements. Takes about 30 minute to take effect. In event of extreme depression, the minimum dose for B3 niacinamide is 500 mg. It won't work below that. However, most people would be happy with 250 mg dose.

Wow, lots of questions being addressed to Ted now that he is back in the Skype-ing swing of things and has a faster internet service!

From now on, all questions to Ted will be posted on Ted's Latest Q&A page, as well as the Q&A section for the applicable ailment. A few threads from the past 2 days will continue on the Real-Time Posts page, but if you don't see it here, we may have moved it over to Latest Q&A.

Remember, the icon for Ted's Latest Q&A is at the top of this page - it's the one with the ?

In order to make it easier for people who are having trouble reading their feedback as they type it, we have just increased the font size in the feedback fields on the contact us/give feedback pages. Hope this helps!

So sorry for not thinking of this simple solution before now, Deanna!

Hi Everyone,

A RSS feed (25 posts per feed) has been added to every Ailments, Remedies, Supplements and Pets page on the site. Rss Feeds will allow you to scan posts by date or by title. Can be very handy. I think we got all the issues ironed out. Finally!

Sorry you had to wait so long, Theo!

To prevent future spamming and to protect the privacy of our readers, email addresses are no longer visible on the website unless they have been included in the text comments section (i.e., after the name and city, state). You will no longer see a Yes/No option to display your email address on the registration form or on the Give Feedback/Contact Us form of EC.

NEW FORUM...

Several contributors have been asking for a forum lately (thanks T and Carolyn!) so they can more easily communicate with the EC community while keeping email addresses private. We are now researching forum software and also how a forum would integrate into the existing setup of Earth Clinic. We definitely don't want to lose the YEA/NAY ratings sytem which has made this site so unique, so the forum will be an additional element.

If you have any ideas or visions about adding a forum to EC, please let us know! Or if you have a forum that you absolutely love and would us to check out for ideas, please send the url along.

Your comments and feedback are always greatly appreciated.

Yeah!! I love the idea of being able to communicate directly with members of this site. Then we can learn where they get their products, etc. It will be great. The following site has a great forum:

I don't think a Forum is a good idea for Earth Clinic. The Yes/Nay system is not only unique but we can always be sure that the postings are filtered by EC and we don't have to go through a whole lots of non productive chatting (or junks) to get to bottom of the issue. Maybe EC can have a "Private Message" function, registered members can send private messages to each other they can then exchange their email addresses through that.

I agree with Kin from Auckland, New Zealand: I have left many a site because the forums were just too much to get through, and I really like and need this site. However, the private message function rather defeats the purpose of the site as others do not get the benefit of the things learned by individuals searching for cures (or, at least, relief). Has anyone had a bad experience from putting their email addresses on this site?

Peace, Sharik

EC: Yes! Last month a spammer rounded up all the visible email addresses on Earth Clinic and started sending out daily messages to members that they had seen their "profile" on Earth Clinic and wanted to get to know them. A bunch of people then asked to have their email addresses removed from the site when they started to receive  spam emails, which wasn't an issue. Getting Google to remove email addresses from its search results quickly has been an issue!

On the Northwest Sourdough site you have the choice of whether or not to post your email address. There has never been a problem with that site and we email each other all the time. Never a problem.

Thanks,
Carolyn

To EC re: the forum question: Ah ha! Well, in that case, go for it. I can see that would be a perfect pain (and probably was and is) and I take back what I wrote! I'm new at the computer (next time I get a Mac!) so I haven't yet learned all the ins and outs of the www. Thanks again for a great site. Peace, Sharik

EC: Thanks Sharik.

Truth be told, I like the way the site is currently set up and am not yet completely sold on adding a forum! Call me old-fashioned, behind the times, etc. Okay!

One potential problem that might arise with adding a "forum" feature is that members might bypass adding their feedback to the earthclinic website, and just communicate with each other privately, which would start to dilute the quality of earthclinic website.

EC: Thanks so much Angie, agreed! We're leaning towards NAY on the forum idea at the moment.

I clicked on to "my account" and "feedback", yet I cannot find my feedback anywhere on your website.

Where can I find it? I would like to add a "P.S." to the allergies post. THANK YOU!

EC: Hi Anonymous. Do you see any links in "My Feedback" after you log in? If so, clicking on them should direct you to your posts. If not, hmmmm... we've run a few tests just now and can see the links just fine.

In the meantime, you can find your recent posts on the Latest Pets Posts section here: https://www.earthclinic.com/latest_petposts.html. You will find the icon (a paw) to the Latest Pets page at the top of our Latest Posts page.  Clicking on the link at the top of your feedback will take you directly to the inside page where your feedback has been posted.  Hope this makes sense!

P.S. If anyone else cannot see links to their posts in the "My Feedback" section after logging in, please let us know.

There have been several aggressive, attacking posts in the past few weeks that are causing distress, irritation, and ire with some of our readers who in turn have complained in private emails to us. We apologize for not addressing this issue sooner.

One of the reasons why, we have been told, people enjoy reading our Real-Time Posts section is not only because the information is interesting and informative, but that it is also a daily source of comfort and healing. In order to preserve the inherent sweetness on this site, we would like to remind those who are writing in to please read and then re-read your post before hitting Send. We love a healthy debate between our readers about these remedies and supplements, but must insist that posts be kind and non-judgmental. Don't agree with someone? Great! Tell us, but say it nicely, sweetly and gently. Thank you very much.

This is addressed to Kathy from Dubois, PA: Did you read this by chance? At this point, I feel I need to say this publicly as I believe you are extremely aggresive in some of your posts and offensive as well. I hesitated at first since you have not addressed me pointedly but now I feel you must really read some of your posts. As for the "Church" thing- that is your own projection. I for one, stand alone in my research and choices and have made some pretty strong decisions all based on my own research-not from someone dictating to me. I understand you being adamant about everyone really researching before they make a decision but you cannot control that. There is much information here and I believe that each person has a responsibility in their personal choices. Please understand that much of your information is good but you need to stop with the accusations and finger pointing. As for Ted and Joyce, they wish to only help others from all that I have read on here and I am on here everyday learning and trying to help others as well. I don't agree with everything on here but there is so much wonderful info that I have benefited from as well as many others. Please chill out.

EC: Lisa is referring to Kathy's response to Ted's aspirin cure here: https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/swine-flu.html#ASPIRIN_33127

Well said!! I couldn't find the words to express my thoughts and feeling but you said it beautifuly. In order to make a decision regarding the health of myself and that my family I must be given CHOICES. It is then up to me to researh to the best of my ability before making a decision. I soooo appreciate the sometimes (mind numbing) knowledge of regular EC posters and ALWAYS enjoy a good (friendly) debate. Your knowledge becomes our knowlege and shows us how important our own personal research is to make the best informed decision for us.
