Sinus Infections and Sinusitis

I have sinus polyps that clog my nasal passages especially in the colder months. After 6 months of clogged sinus I started taking apple cider vinegar (ACV) 3 times/day and after 1 week the congestion is nearly gone and I'm breathing through my nose.

Omg! I am a first-timer to this site, just stumbled upon it in when searching for some relief for my latest sinus infection. I am 30 years old and have gotten them chronically since childhood.

This one is particularly bad and it has come with the added bonus of sinus pressure-related tooth pain. It is about 4:00 am here and the pain and sinus pressure was keeping me and my poor, sympathetic husband, awake.

I was in so much pain and had taken a cocktail of over-the-counter pain relievers and sinus meds with still no relief. I had even spent the last hour alternating hot and cold compresses which I read can help with the pressure of compacted sinuses.

Nothing was helping. Then I found this thread about the ACV with honey and water mixture. I decided to try it, I figured at this point, anything was worth a shot.

I made the mixture and I also took a big swig of the ACV right from the bottle, just for good measure! Though the taste was a little off putting, the result was worth it!

In about ten minutes, the throbbing in my face and teeth began to subside, my sinuses began to clear and the pressure and pain was markedly subsiding.

I'm stunned. So stunned that I needed to post this response right away, even at 4:00 am! Thank you for this site! I have bookmarked it and am looking forward reading about other useful remedies!

Off to bed now for what may be my first congestion and sinus pain-free sleep in days!

Thanks again everyone! Cheers!

Hair Growth

I'm 48. Twenty years ago I had hysterectomy and my hair thinned very badly. I was embarrassed but doctors said there was nothing they could do. I tried everything. I finally gave up and 20 years later started taking ACV for other things and it worked great. The woman who cuts my hair asked if I was taking vitamins or what I was doing different. She said there was new hair growth and my hair was thicker. Now, 6 months later, and for the first time in 20 years my hair is back to normal. You dont understand how happy that made me. I couldnt believe it and wanted to share with Ted and readers. Thank you for your website!

Warts

I have had a wart on the tip of my finger for a few years now. I just left it alone. It wasn't that visible and it didn't bother me. However, I just got tired of looking at it and was starting to bother me lately. So, I remember ACV was mentioned here for warts; so I tried it. I took a small piece of cotton, just enough to cover the wart and soaked it the ACV and put a bandaid on it. Left it on all day/night. following morning, took it off and repeated the process. It's been 3 days, and the wart has shrunk in size by half. No pain, by the way either. I will keep doing this until it is gone. ACV is truly a wonder. I drink 8 oz of water with 1 or 2 TBS of ACV every day by the way. Also helps with itching or bug bites. Just dab straight ACV on the itch. Love this site by the way. Lifesaver at times. Good luck everyone.

Apple Cider Vinegar has changed my life, seriously. I've seen 4 different doctors this past year and been given different antibiotics by each one for my blocked sinus. I haven't felt well or had much energy for a couple of years due to the ongoing sinus problem that never has gotten cured. I quit drinking wine and all alcohol cause I read that can cause a lot of yeast. The last guy I saw was an ENT who put me on a z-pack for 1 week, to be followed by 1 month of Prednisone and another z-pack at the end of the treatment. I took the 1st dose of antibiotics and filled the prescription for the Prednisone but before taking it looked it up on the internet only to read a lot of really scary stuff about it. I decided not to take it and that night I found this site which I absolutely love! I started immediately with the AVC ( 2 Tbsp.) mixed with a tiny amount of juice and 1/4 tsp. baking soda and the rest of the glass (8 oz) filled with water. Within maybe half an hour I could breathe out of my right nostril which was impossible before. The CTscan showed total blockage on that side. So I've been doing this for about a month now, in the AM, sipping during the day, and again in the PM and my breathing is so much better and I don't wake up in the middle of the night anymore having to spray or put on a nose bandaid thing. I'm not cured yet but I believe I will be. I also started oil pulling last week and that also helps. I can actually blow my nose and stuff is coming out of the right side finally. It's dark yellow so I know it's an infection but I think with time it will be cured. I don't expect things to work overnight, though the avc did start having an effect pretty fast. I cured myself of cervical cancer years ago with macrobiotics. It took 3 months. So I'll be patient with this and also try to cut out things like sugar, flour, dairy which I know would help. I also tried the avc as a rinse after washing my face and it leaves your skin looking like glass! It's amazing. I'm 58 and so sick of trying new stuff for my skin that never seems to make a difference but this seems to work nicely. I'm so happy to have found this site with like minded people. I really do believe the body can heal itself with the right natural things.

Hi All! I'm soooo glad I found this site. Sarah, I'm sorry to hear Apple Cider Vinegar isn't working for you. Keep trying and maybe it will. Just a thought.:)

I bought and tried Apple Cider Vinegar for the first time 2 years ago. Well, I'm now starting my menopause and I have every symptom that goes with it including high blood pressure and heart palpitations and believe me, they are scary. Anywhoo, I just remembered today that I still have some Apple Cider Vinegar left and had a glass. Man and I'm glad I did!

I haven't had this much energy in months and it lowered my blood pressure! Whew! I'll just be 40 this year and I'll be drinking Apple Cider Vinegar for the rest of my life. Oh, I also had a bad cough I couldn't get rid of and now that's gone too along with the headaches. Hmmm, no wonder doctor's won't tell us about this because they would go out of business! LOL

Thanks so much Earth Clinic for a wonderful, informative and very much appreciated website!

Since I strted the ACV, I notice the dimples in my thighs are disappearing! I cannot believe it but it is true!

My father had just retired. A very active man all his life, he found himself suffering with bursitis in the shoulder joints. After taking honey and cider vinegar twice am and eve. for approx two weeks he felt relief and better mobility. After 30 days he could do windmills with both arms. He was so grateful. ACV Chasers

I believe that we often crave things that our body needs. When my oldest daughter was small she kept eating lemons, a while ago I was craving sourkrout the whole time, a friend of mine recently had a huge crave for avocados and avocado oil. We also keep away from stuff our body doesn't need or want and that is one of the reasons one should be careful when one finds a child should eat some food they really don't want to. I have no problem drinking diluted ACV at all but I wouldn't drink it undiluted because I am afraid it would damage my teeth. I always flush my teeth with water afterwards. If I were you I wouldn't drink too much, like anything too much of a good thing can be bad for you. With the sourkrout I know where to stop because I get diarrhea if I eat too much. Your body gives you a lot of signs.... Another thing which doesn't bother me is drinking diluted cayenne pepper, most people hate it. I suppose that we are all different........

I PUT ACV IN MY TEA WITH STEVIA TO SWEETEN, APPROXIMATELY TWO TABLESPOONS OF ACV IN A 44 OZ GLASS, AND I FEEL SO ENERGIZED THAT I ALMOST GET ADDICTED, I HAVE TO MONITOR MYSELF OR I CAN DRINK 4 TO 6 OZ A DAY OF ACV, WHEN I JUST PUT THE ACV IN WATER I FEEL SO GOOD THAT I HAVE HAD PEOPLE ASK ME IF I AM DRINKING BURBON AND WATER ...I KNOW THIS MUST SOUND QUITE HUMOROUS, HOWEVER IT HAS HAD THE SAME EFFECT ON MY VERY HEALTHY 84 YEAR OLD MOTHER AND OTHERS THAT HAVE TRIED IT........CAN YOU EXPLAIN THIS??? DOES ANYONE OUT THERE UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT????????? I AM AN USUALLY HEALTHY 54YO FEMALE

In 1972 my father was in his late 40's. Being from Wisconsin his diet included quite a bit of fatty food. Most of his weight was in his belly. Not uncommon in Wisconsin. At that time, I don't know where he found it, but he came home one day and announced that he was going to cut out 25% of the fat in his diet and drink 8 oz of luke warm water every night with 1 Tbsp of Cider Vinegar and 1 Tbsp of Honey.
I was still very young, and had a problem with bed wetting. He gave me his mixture one night before bed and told me that I would never wet the bed again, I didn't.

I now suggest organic for both and Raw Honey.
In a matter of two months, all of his belly weight had disappeared.
To add to that what I have learned over the years...
I am not Jewish, but NOT mixing milk products with meat is also very helpful since it it easier to digest out food.
What Western medical doctors won't tell us also is that when we combine our protein and carbs they turn into fat in our bodies immediately. We do need carbs, but complex carbs rather than all of the processed white flour and white sugar. Processed food is poison more than anything. We really can't trust the FDA. They allow chemicals to be put in our food. I believe that so many health problems are caused by chemicals that our bodies just don't agree with. Western doctors will just keep treating the symptoms.

Try Oatmeal and sprouted grain breads and pastas, you'll be surprised at how quickly you get use to them.
Lean protein and vegetables together.
Don't get on the scale every day, you'll just frustrate yourselves.
When I got pregnant with my son I weighed 125 pounds. I ate like a foodball player during my pregnancy. I gained over 100 pounds! He was a big beautiful 10 lb baby, lol
After nursing for a year and continuing to eat well I lost it all.
Look at the size of your bone structure and don't pressure yourself. Not all of us are meant to be skinny, just healthy and in proportion. Consider your genetic background.

I believe that Cider Vinegar is an amazing remedy for just naturally cleansing out our bodies, not just breaking down fat. Bath in it too. Try a full cup in a bath and massage cellulite. You will need to increase your water intake. I weigh 140 pounds now and I drink almost a gallon of water a day.

I just started Oil Pulling for my overall health and dental since I don't have a fortune to spend on my teeth.
Bless all of you and your health. You can do it!

I used to take honey @ ACV years ago but for whatever reason, quit doing so. People used to remark how clear and glowing my skin was. Anyway, in the meantime, my monthly period once short (2-3 days) became lengthier and more of a bother lasting seven days. How annoying. I just began taking the ACV & honey tonic again for only 3 weeks and glory be, my monthly shortened to 3 days again. Yippee!

EC: 3 Readers have found success. (Note: 1 strong dose works.)

Apple Cider Vinegar Nutrition Snapshot

Apple cider vinegar is very low in calories and macronutrients. According to USDA data, 1 tablespoon (15 g) of cider vinegar provides approximately:

  • ~3 calories
  • Less than 1 gram of carbohydrates
  • Negligible protein and fat
  • Small amounts of minerals such as potassium

These values are for standard cider vinegar; artisanal or organic brands may vary slightly but remain very low in calories and macronutrients. The benefits of ACV appear to come more from its acetic acid, organic acids, and plant compounds than from its vitamin or mineral content.

Brands of Apple Cider Vinegar

I have been using ACV for years and go thru a quart per month. Last year I returned 4 bottles of ACV to the store that I bought it because it was sour. There is a distinct difference in taste between a sour apple and a fermented apple. After the second time, I called the company and they did not seem alarmed or really that interested.......just told me to carry it back where I purchased it. Well I got tired of having to carry it back after the fourth time and have been using other brands and have not ran across this problem again. My experience was with one of the oldest and most widely used brands out there.

I have to tell you about my husband who hates the smell of Apple Cider Vinegar. I tried to get him to do it for his high blood pressure and he would not do it. Then I decided to try to put it on his apple juice and he knew right away. Then I told him to try one more time, but with organic grape juice, and he likes it. He has been doing it every day for a week. I use an 8oz glass and put 1 tablespoon of the Apple Cider Vinegar and he is doing good.

If you don't like the smell or the taste try it this way. It works for him. Josie

Weight Loss

Was that how you were eating prior to adding ACV to your daily routine? In other words, are you sure it was the ACV that helped you lose weight, or was it that you started "saying NO" to the foods you shouldn't have eaten that caused the weight loss?

Inquiring minds want to know. ;-)
