Contracting Scabies

animals cannot get scabies. the mites can only live on human skin, and human skin alone. the only way to get scabies in the first place is by prolonged skin to skin contact. for example how a mother hugs her child more than once a day. shaking of the hand or one simple hug will not contract them. the scabies can only live without a host for 3 days. simply vacate your house for three days and they will be gone(from your home anyway). make sure you take treatment durring then so not to reinfest your environment.

I did not have scabies. I took a new cat that I just brought home, to the vet for her first visit. The vet told me my new cat has scabies. My cat came with SCABIES that, they can't get, hum interesting that an animal that can't get scabies has scabies, that it can't get, interesting how false old wives tales contradict the truth. Then the dogs got checked. The vet said the medicine I give will kill scabies in both cats and dogs. Now it's my turn to go to my Dr. to get rid of my scabies infection. Thanks cat her name is barnett. She is a barn cat no more rats in the garage thanks barny love you girl.

Borax Bath, Bleach Bath

Camille; I am totally at wits ends here, it started out with my cat having scabs all over her body also red spots and itching constantly, I came here thinking it was mange and treated her as such with great results for over eight months, now these mites are back even worse also getting closer to her eyes and because of so many treatments she is severely stressed out. Now I find my husband has the same red spots and itching on the back of his neck at the hair line, I too am itching along with my two dogs, it's like a zoo here lol I finally brought my cat to the vets after all these months only to find he says she has allergies I said I think not these were contagious, he wanted to give her steroids; I said nothing abrasive thanks....... That stupidity cost me over a hundred dollars I could not afford. I'm wondering how abrasive it would be for a small cat? if any one might know the answer please send me an answer, I would appreciate the input. Thanks every one that contributes any info. Peace.

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak
Posted by Anonymous (Waukesha, Wi/usa) on 04/14/2011

Using bleach in bath water (1-2cups ONLY) is not toxic to you. It's about equal to a clorinated pool! I wouldn't recommend this as a daily regimen! It's not a first choice for your skin, BUT it will work for SCABIES! The thing with scabies/bleach is to basically shock the mites! It will kill them, if done, with somewhat normal (healthy) skin! If your skin is severe (DO NOT USE BLEACH). Use TTO and menthol powder or lotion, until the skin gets back to a more healthier state! The permethrin can be watered down and used daily over bad areas! WHEN skin is in a healthly state, take a bleach bath! Do add a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide to HOT AS YOU CAN STAND water... Use alot of after bath moisturizer! The thing to remember when using bleach, is that if your skin (in damaged skin) and you keep using bleach, although it may kill some mites, the female who is deeper in your skin to begin with, will burrow deeper!!! So-skin somewhat healthy. Hot water to open the pores. Hydrogen peroxide to allow the bleach to soak into your skin! When skin is still wet, LOTS of moisturizer!!! LOTS OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU SUFFERING =)

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak
Posted by I Hate Scabies! (Leonardtown, Md) on 06/16/2012

So I recently learned that I have scabies for the third time within three years (all during summer time). It doesn't seem to have left my community & I feel so paranoid about every itch! I found out before I even showed symtoms (my boyfriends roommates thankfully let us know in time). To add to the scabies problem we've been dealing with fleas for almost a year now too! It sounds trashy I'm sure, but believe me, it's driving me & my boyfriend insane. It's hard to get stuff taken care of when unfortunately not everyone see's eye to eye on how to handle it. CRAZY RIGHT?! It shouldn't even be a discussion, just get the pests OUT. Period. THE END! But no, that is not the case, sadly.

Any ways. We have been using cold pressed neem oil twice a day for the past week or two & it was really doing a good job at controlling it, but it's getting worse. So we decided to start taking the HP & Borax baths. The first time I took the bath I did not air dry & then used the neem oil head to toe. Everything seemed fine. Two days later I was able to make the time for a second bath. I air dried this time & used a lot of neem oil. The next day I cleaned an entire basement in sweat pants & a hoodie (which really opened up my pores, ) noticed a little redness on my skin, especially my chest & neck. After cleaning I took a hot shower (also really opening up my pores) & used more neem oil after I dried off with a towel, this time I think I used just a tad too much on my chest & neck. I was very red by the time I finished but didn't notice anything wrong until later that night when my neck & chest were scary red & I had odd bumps every where. I got so confused as to whether it was just the reaction or if all those little red bumps were scabies that just became visible all of a sudden. I showered again before bed to see if it would help the reaction & the next morning rubbed coconut oil on me to soothe the itch & to see how my skin might react. Around one in the morning I took some benadryl to reduce the redness & bumps. It only helped a little so I went to the ER at about 7 in the morning to see if there was any advice a doctor might have, of course it's usually not much help. I can NOT go through this again, it's miserable, as any one with scabies would know. Right now I'm struggling with an allergic reaction & scabies & fleas. I am planning to try the borax but on a smaller area (had to learn the hard way) to see if it is what caused the reaction. Or just the combo of everything I had on my skin. I gave my skin a break from everything, which worries me a bit considering how quickly scabies appear but I don't want to make anything worse for my skin!

So my point to this post is to always test a product before getting into a hot bath with it & be more cautious about the things you put on your skin. Especially if you're like me with sensitive skin. It sucks to have scabies. But it sucks even more to have scabies & then a bad allergic reaction. I really wish the best of luck to any one with this infestation. The first time I didn't even know what it was till three months later (thanks to an idiot doctor who told me I was fine & had no idea what was wrong -_-). I will be paranoid for probably the rest of my life. I plan to keep up the cleaning & hopefully I can continue my treatment if my skin heals, for about a month if not the rest of my summer. Maybe I'll have a nice summer next year?

GOOD LUCK!

Sulphur
Posted by Robin (Lake George) on 05/11/2015

I totally agree with sulfur, only be very careful you can over do it. I burnt my neck and chest pretty bad cause I was so anxious to have the bugs killed. They are fine now after intense moisterizing..I used sulfur paste and mixed with eurcerin lotion. Go easy, it should be one part sulfur to 9 parts lotion and don't get it near your eyes. It will irritate them. Should continue for three weeks. Good luck all!

Any other advice on this treatment for scabies? I had never heard of Psorinum 30 before and would love to hear from others that have had success with it as how long it should take to work, when you should take it and with what or not to take it with???

Cm and Jo, Sorry for not replying. Yes, 2 pellets of Psorinum 30c or 30x is more than enough for 2 months. Then you can repeat it. Acts as a preventative too. I've healed about 6 dogs with scabies with Psorinum 30.

I've had a few problems with moving up to Psorinum 200 (as Peter Morell suggests) that I'll explain:

1. Psor 200 brings up very deep aggravations of hidden diseases. If they're cancerous or have a systemic infection or failing organs, you'll see their entire body throws it out onto the skin, conditions which last for months. I've come to feel a dog's life is so short that there's no justification for going deeper.

2. Psorinum has an amplified effect in the fall. It is a very powerful remedy working for months on end so be warned.

Just stick with a couple of doses of Psorinum 30 spaced 3-6 months apart and the hair should grow back easily. Don't go higher unless you have a homeopath to advice.

[Slightly long, sorry] Cm from Wilmington, Nc asks: "Any other advice on this treatment for scabies?

Re: other advice on the treatment of scabies - as soon as Psorinum does its work, if the hair isn't back, you'll notice that another homeopathic miasm, the Syphilitic miasm, rears its ugly head. Some dogs seem to inherit it at birth which is responsible for the bone and nervous disorders (incessant biting, itching, barking, irritability, restlessness), black patches, rupia, sores and eczema that accompany scabies. You can approach a good homeopath or go very carefully through the symptoms and treat it with Kali iod 6x, Aur met 6x and Nitric Acid 6x.

The way I recognise the Syphilitic miasm is by the waxing and waning of the symptoms with the moon cycle - its at its worst on full moon and a few days before a thunderstorm.

I'm beginning to think that this syphilitic tendency is the primary cause that draws the fleas, mites and fungus to the body (parasites after all can't live on a healthy host). Removing the parasites without removing the primary destruction is pointless.

Psorinum clears the case if it is simple or else shows the way to the deeper problem.

I hope that helps.:)

Thanks for all of the advice! Seriously, this is the only website that I have actually found useful advice on! I found Borax and want to use it on my skin but I do not have a tub in my apartment. Does anyone know of another effective way to use the Borax treatment without having to soak in it? Can I put it in a spray bottle and spray it on? I know you are supposed to leave it on but do you leave it on until your next shower? I'm literally going insane here! Any advice will help!! Thanks in advance!!

Hi Courtney, yes you can put borax in a spray bottle and leave it on for as long as it feels good to you! Try maybe an hour before showering at first and leave on longer if need be next time. About maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the bottle borax, the rest water. Lily.

Hi there,

With all my experimenting with scabies I have come to the conclusion that 2 remedies are required. One to kill the mites and one to kill the larvae. Hydrogen peroxide rubbed onto bumps seems to kill the larvae. I used some of my 12% cream hair peroxide on new bumps and immediately could see a white head appear on the bump. Im guessing that this is peroxide entering through the burrow and fizzing on the larvae.

For the mites I would use eucalyptus oil all over my body and scalp and leave for a couple of hours. The eucalyptus is similar to borax because it comes from that camphor/menthol family. It does not irritate skin. I used it full strength with no problems but some sites say you must dilute it with a carier oil. The next day I used 3% peroxide on my scalp and rubbed it vigorously into my scalp so it could get to any burrows and larvae. If eggs are constantly being laid then hatched then it requires diligence to catch all the hatching cycles and finally get the population down. I got on top of my scabies but I never treated my scalp and within 2 weeks I had woken up one morning with bites on my face and chest. After treating scalp and body Im not feeling any crawling feelings and there are no new bites, Fingers crossed.

Posted by Cathrine (Perth, Western Australia, Australia) on 03/29/2011

I have had to add something else as I was so disgusted by what I found last night. I rubbed a little 12% hair peroxide into a couple of spots on my face that didnt show any bumps but I had felt crawling sensations over the past week. The areas turned into huge raised white welts one as big as 1cm. The peroxide was reacting with something under my skin. I tested some on a normal pimple and it didnt respond or go white. This was larvae and all their excretment under my skin. The areas that were infested were around my nostrils, under my eyebrows but above my lids and the upper lip (moustache) area. The skin appeared normal on the surface. I have now with a brush rubbed peroxide into my whole body and it seems my scalp, chest and face were the most heavily infested with a few small welts on my back. The scabies first presented on my hands and forearms and after treatment they returned the second time on my scalp and chest spreading to my face. I think I have killed all the larvae on my body now. Be aware that normal looking skin can have eggs underneath.

It could have also been a fungal infection due to the weakening of the skin. I use the borax treatment, with peroxide and pour mineral oil around the base of the portion of leg showing, this effectively creates an oil barrier that they will get stuck in if they surface. I was prescribed clarithromycin for the fungal infection that had grown from the damn feces and larvae, regular occuring fungus is fueled by the feces it seems like.

All of the areas you noted are naturally oily areas of the face, but the seborratic derm was probably a manifestation of presence of mites. aka get nizoral, womens yeast infection cream, etc and try that on face. or go get some antibiotics, warning tho: if it is strong enough, be ready to feel all the mites on the move at once, my first dosage was while driving back from the ER, had to stop on side of the road. this time, I'll be at home and will hop in the shower 5-10 minutes after taken the meds. so when they run out... wash'n em down, let you all know how it goes. Treat this as a systemic problem, the feces is a huge factor, espcially if you get ringworm, (fungus) and with all the hot baths, you are bound to get ringworm or some other infection. FIght the war on all fronts troops!!

I doubt that this would manifest a 'cure' for scabies, but it could make them leave your body. When you take Apple Cider Vinegar it detoxes the digestive system like Drano and cleans the system so rapidly WATCH OUT I've used it when I am really ill. It can cure things because it makes you an unwanted host. I suggest fasting off of sugar (even take less fruit) and spices. All inner parasites look for a negative terrain to run rampant. Use the Cider Vinegar! I just went for mine and I'm out. No funds for it or else I'd be on it now.

Tea Tree Oil
Posted by Citygirl27 (Richardson, Tx, Usa) on 06/14/2012

I bought a job lot of 2oz tea tree oil bottles online 'buy 2 get 3 free' from the big online vitamin merchant that starts with a P, and I put it in everything. I add extra tea tree oil to my tea tree shampoo and toner - (tip - buy tea tree toiletries and add extra TTO to them for extra strength and ongoing protection), put it on my more affected spots straight after coconut oil so it won't burn, the real 100% pure stuff is very strong. Use it in the bath, put a few drops in your shower gel, do everything you can think of with tea tree except eat it. It is very strong, so start out doing a few of these at night if the smell is unsocial. Using it in oil like coconut, olive or almond oil is better than lotion because there are no additives or wax in an essential oil.

I filled a 10 x 14 plastic laundry basin with a half inch of full strength laundry bleach-- then stepped into it-- then I rubbed it in to my skin--it stung--small white grains of sand started to come out-- these were the larvae of the crusted scabies--i intend to repeat daily for two weeks to kill them at all stages of development--then took shower--finally I applied the second tube of the 5% permethrin cream--slept with no crawling sensation!!! At least I know that bleach will kill these critters.

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak
Posted by Craig (Windsor, Ontario) on 01/17/2010

I went through this as well. My doctor said I had dry skin and a cream would work. This didn't work. I had the red bumps and it bothered me at night the crawlers as well and in the heat I was itchy. After finding this site I found out that it was scabies. Now I don't know where I got it from and I'm a very clean person but there is a lot of cures out there but the one I like is the borax when I shower and a warm the bottle of h-peroxide in the shower, after I shower I dump the bottle over me yes it does sting for a bit but it kills them, always put clean clothes on after words put dirty clothes in garbage bag first before showering! My cure is as follows...Clean everything, you house including window curtains, sills and ledges, clothes and any one there will have to be treated as well. These things are hard to get rid of. You should put dirty clothes in garbage bags IE orange for dirty black for clean that way bags don't get mixed up, use disposable latex gloves when doing laundry as well never us the same gloves twice (re-infection is why) so throw them away each time, bleach all floors including wood floors as well, they will get in the cracks, steam clean furniture throw rugs and carpets, for the bed get a plastic liner to encase the bed, same as the pillows. Wash plastic bed liner and pillows, head boards, foot boards bed rails basically sterilize the beds each day, rubbing alcohol does not work so don't bother it only chases them away do this before new linen goes on each day, keep bed away from the walls nothing should touch the walls if you have pets keep the bedroom doors closed at all times they will have it to so they will have to be treated as well and possibly caged and Isolated sadly enough:( the vet will have something for them or a cure on this site. For both dogs and cats it called "mange" as well all their bedding or scratching posts collars even the leash and dog house, everything must be done. You can get over the counter stuff, the pharmacist will know what product you can use. (NOTE: BE CAREFUL OF THIS STUFF IT CAN BE DANGEROUS AND POSSIBLY ALSO SIDE EFFECTS, IT HAS A PESTICIDE IN IT, THE SAME AS RAID USES.) If you use this stuff use only once. Make sure you get under the toe nails and finger nails also your private areas basically cover your self from head to toe and don't forget the bottom of the feet inside the ears as well, right up to your hair line, ANOTHER TRICK IS TO KEEP ONLY A SMALL QUANTITY OF CLOTHES FOR EACH PERSON TO WEAR ABOUT 3 DAYS WORTH ONLY, THE SAME AS BED LINEN AND ALL BLANKETS MAKE SURE TO DO ALL JACKETS,COATS SHOES AND BOOTS AS WELL. If you have a basement cement floor and you put dirty clothes on the floor well you guessed it this has to be bleached as well. The scabies can't live off the body for more than a week or two but I wanted to be safe so I waited a month with double bag dirty clothes, wash all clothes in the hot wash cycle( a little borax in the wash doesn't hurt either) and dry on high for 25 min or more. The expensive way is to dry clean them but let the cleaner know about the infection first. You must be very "I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH ABOUT THIS" you must be very diligent about this or they will come back trust me Third time's the charm. Really it took me three attempts and experimentation to get rid of these things but 5 months later we're all free and clear of these little buggers and my family and I have never felt better. If you follow this diligently and to the letter I promise you this will work but don't skip a step. Good Luck. Craig

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I've had scabies for over 2 months. I've had 3 full body treatments with permetherin cream 5% from the Dr. It didn't work for me. I also tried one of the online treatments with enzymes and oil. It got better, but didn't go away. I started that after the 1st permetherine treatment failed. The combination didn't work either. I tried the borax/epsom salt/hydrogen peroxide bath suggested above - now that seemed to work, but I think the person who mentioned it could be toxic was right. I got the runs the next morning. I kept using it and it got much worse. I started vomiting too. I think it would work, but that was way too strong for me. I missed almost a week of work recovering. I found another one online that is the enzymes only and less expensive. This one also seems to be working, but I'm not getting sick from it. There was a big difference the first time. Hopefully, I'll be able to tell you in a week or so that it's totally gone. Another tip that someone else mentioned - avoid sweets. I'm borderline diabetic and when I ate a dessert or something, I noticed they were a LOT more active, and the # of bites went up. I felt like I was being eaten alive. I stopped eating any sugar, and it went down. So, that's my experience. Good luck.

I just recently figured out that I have scabies, so my boyfriend and I have been doing a slue of things both to ourselves and the apt to do a full cleanse and it has been going great. We've seen a significant reduction of bites, itching, and all that jazz.
Cleaning house/apt. we've been using a mix of bleach and water on the mattress, borax powder on upholstery that we vacuum off after letting it set for an hour or 2, anything small enough and un-important enough has been bagged and will remain sealed for at least 5 days, and as far as cleaning the floor we've been using rubbing alcohol and water. Rubbing alcohol kills the mites when they're host-less. As far as your other inquiry about how long it takes, well, we've been doing all this stuff for a few days and have seen significant improvements (sulfur scrub in the morning [Brimstone salt scrub from lush] followed by calamine and lotion, tbls applecider vinegar at breakfast and before bed, borax bath at night along with an anti-histamine. Itching less, fewer bites, and it's only been a few days.

Wanted to mention a piece most seem to overlook; I am using borax and peroxide; what a grateful being I am for it! But please realize there are welts and bites, and secondary allergic reactions; so often they persist and can keep the idea you are still infected, when you actually are free of the mites.

been using tea tree and neem oils topically if I am bothered between baths, I dry my bedding each morning, and clothes I wore the day before, and keep everything separated.... Best of luck!

Bird mites cannot reproduce without bird blood. They can feed on any blood, but need bird blood to reproduce. Get rid of the birds, ( I had one in my dryer vent with mites, and I was diagnosed with delisional parisitosis, before finally finding the cause) The doctors thought I was insane. Despite being very tiny, bird mites can sense your exhalation and will travel very very long distances to reach food. It was probably 30 feet of dryer vent and another 50 feet to reach my bed.

Try using Eno salts and Glyco-thymoline. The ENo will alkalinize the body, a teaspoon in a glass of water every morning before breakfast for 6 to 7 days. Then take a cotton ball soaked in Glyco-thymoline and put that on the parts that are affected. When it has dried, put 2 ounces of Camphorated oil (which is just camphor and olive oil) and 1/2 ounce of lanolin in a bottle. Bathe the body with a sponge or massage this into your skin. It wouldn't hurt if you drank a little bit of Glyco-thymolie in water once or twice a day either, 4-6 drops in water.

I would like to thank everyone who posted a cure for scabies on the site, you were all a godsend. I recieved some items, clothes, furniture ect. from a family friend who was cleaning out her garage. I also got bedbugs and scabies. We had no idea what was going on. I have four boys and they were scratching up a storm. I thought I was going crazy. We'd just switched detergents, so I thought that must be it, but it wasn't. When I told my friend about it, she was very concerned that we may have gotten scabies from her things, because she didn't think they could live that long. So I went to the dr. and she thought it was allergies too. But it wasn't and the use of the borax and peroxide soak proved it. I found a questionaire on another website, and every answer was yes. When I found this website, I thanked god. I combined 2-cups of borax with 1 bottle of peroxide, this into a full tub of water as hot as you can stand it.

For my children I used 1 cup borax and 1/2 cup of peroxide. I also decided to use the antibacterial soap. I did this because although we have all been afflicted with the bites, my husband hands and arms are totally clear. Where he works he always has to use the antibacterial gel, you know the inst-wash stuff. and he just rubs it on like lotion. So we've started using that too. Just in case anyone else thinks it might help. Good luck to all of you. We'll be taking bath #2 tonight, and another tomorrow. Then start again next friday. Also I'm gonna try the Diatomaceous earth powder. Have any of you ever heard of Dri-Die? It's supposed to kill bedbugs, and other creepy crawlies. Is it anything like DE? Thanks...Lori

Hopefully this will be posted because it really seems to be working! December 08 I started getting lesions all over my legs, back and head. I went to see my doctor and was told it was scabies and prescribed 5% permethrin cream,an anti bacterial oral med and topical steroid ,did NOT work! Also tried Ivermectin paste for horses (out of desperation,3 times)I did get what seemed to be a reduction in lesions but even after 12 Permethrin treatments it kept coming back. Dermatolagist said I was healing... just quit scratching. I came across a scabies blog where people were getting great results with soaking a half hour in 1 cup washing soda, dissolving washing soda (1) in 4-1 water (4), no rinsing and spraying floors, furniture walls etc. To my astonishment after 2 treatments my lesions are healing quickly and I think we got a Winner! The results are so dramatic I could not wait to post this, even if this is not a cure (to early to tell)it is worth trying. good luck fighting whatever super scabie or morgellons this is.

I think I have scabies. Possibly from a new coworker, who is always using hand sanitizer. I stumbled on your site and found many helpful tips. I tried tea tree oil and other oils, and the borax peroxide soak, somewhat helpful. I also greased up overnight, even with petrolium jelly (what a mess), and could feel little frantic strugglings. But tonight I used lemon juice straight, with salt, even mixed up a little for dabbing (dousing), and found it to sting wonderfully. It also revealed the true track marks and infested areas. I just wanted to post and let people know that the two most common kitchen ingredients are very good at killing the mites. I will continue with sea salt soaks/borax also, and the nightly castor/olive oil (gave up on essential oils, roommate... ), and will finish the bath with a lemon juice wipedown. Also, spot killing with my lemon/peroxide/salt/water mixture. I also mixed up a spray bottle of non-chlorine bleach (apparently lemon juice/peroxide/water), and will continue to leave a bucket of bleachy (chlorox) water with a rag in it for cleaning my belongings and surroundings. Iwanted to tell people about lemon juice and salt, basically. Thanks for this wonderful site, and all the brave people contributing their stories.

ok. real progress with salt today. I took a sea salt/borax/super washing soda bath with a little sulphur shampoo for twenty minutes, rinsed off and turned the shower off. Then applied sulphur shampoo all over and waited ten minutes. Then I rinsed that off and turned the shower off. Then I applied a mixture of salt, water, borax, and super washing soda and didn't rinse off. Then I went and did laundry in plastic bags. At night I am soaking with olive oil with a little castor oil or whatever. Tonight I might try mixing a little clove oil, but I'm still pretty burnt on my shoulders... I've been wondering if plastic bags might make things worse, and am considering using my dresser again (clean). Anyway, things are really starting to clear up, only a couple thin scabs on my stomach where it once was a big rash. My house has been sterilized fairly well, but I think my roomate is in denial and could slow this down. So, from clorox baths to lemon juice to borax to clove oil to salt and sulphur. We'll see... The winners are oil, salt, and sulphur/citrus. Good luck all.

so, I started taking a salt/borax bath (with a few drops of tea tree oil), and then rinsing off. Then taking meat tenderizer and mixing it with warm water and applying it all over and letting it sit. Ten minutes and rinse off. Next, sulphur soap ten percent, ten minutes and rinse off, warm water. Then, lemon juice all over, ten minutes and rinse off. Also, scrubbing with the green side of the dish scrubber. This seems to really kill them. I also have been using oil with a smaller amount of clove oil in waking hours. Leave it on as long as I can stand it. This seems to work also. I am also trying to get some 5% permethrin through some form of doctor. My other thing is sea salt dissolved in a spray bottle for all day body spraying. Things are getting a little better. I might try lice shampoo permethrin 1%, but I don't want them to build up resistance.

so, I started spraying myself with clove oil in water, which burns and makes me cold. It seemed to help. I also have been using lice shampoo. I just leave it on after drying after a bath. But tonight, I mixed up some sulphur powder with petroleum jelly, mineral oil, olive oil, and clove oil. I put this on after letting the lice shampoo dry. I also ordered 10% permethrin liquid from a pest control supply, hoping to mix it with petroleum jelly, and avoid doctors altogether. The sulphur cream I made is still on right now, and it feels pretty good, like it's working. Will keep updated. Also have been using meat tenderizer with water after (sea salt/borax/clove oil) bath for five minutes. Also straight lemon juice. then rinse.

I realize this is an old post but for those with the same question: if you don't have a bath, get a little container plastic, metal, or whatever and mix the solution in it. Use a small facecloth or any piece of clothing and soak it in the solution. Then scrub the saturated cloth all over to apply the solution. Repeat to keep body wet if it dries out fast.

I got sulfur soap and sulfur ointment online from a place in Oklahoma. Type 'sulfur soap' and 'sulfur ointment' in the search engine. I am pretty sure they ship internationally and they are very affordable. The sulfur ointment is a little grainy, I imagine it is the sulfur powder and petrolateum already made up for you. Very few ingredients. My son and I have been using it daily and no new bites, fingers crossed.

Thank you Ted, for your answers, when dermatologists are in denial, you are a God send.

I believe I have mites burrowing into my scalp and skin. Bumps/bites become itchy, I scratch (try not to). Then I end up with tons of bites/scratch marks on my arms, legs, chest, back, face, nose, and scalp. I have had this for approx 2 yrs now and have tried many remedies. Nothing has eradicated the mite. Sometimes I feel I am reducing the problem, then out of nowhere I end up with a new set of bites. I always seem to have more than one new bite in an area of my body. I have colored/bleached my hair for over 20 years. When I color/bleach my hair once a month, the bleach formula is extremely strong and is left on my hair for 30 mins. I can't help but wonder why the mites, at least the mites on my scalp don't die when I bleach my hair? If the strong bleach/peroxide formula doesn't kill them, how will borax and peroxide kill them? I recall that the initial itching began over two years ago when I went swimming at the beach and just let me hair dry in the sun, didn't shampoo until the next day or so. I have been reading voraciously to try to identify whats biting me. Some kind of mite seems to be most likely. My mites are white and look like a grain of rice but much, much smaller than rice. I would be forever grateful if you have any helpful information to rid my body of this parasite.

Sincerely and Thank you

Soak your entire body up to your neck in borax and hydrogen peroxide. You can use q-tips near the ears and face. Eat a lot of fresh garlic and spray non-chlorine bleach between baths twice a day. Has it improved yet?

how to get rid of them near your eyes: coconut oil smothers them and is safe to use around your eyes and on your face. Also, hydrogen peroxide is safe on your face if you use it on a cotton ball. Be sure the excess is out of the cotton ball before you dab it around your eyes. HP is a pro-oxidant so I would recommend it for just a few days each week.

Hi all, I hope this helps someone. I am tramatised in Philly and have been battling this SCABBIE mite for 3mos. I used a few things in conjunction. First know your enemy this mite likes to nest in paper, anything poreous(sp)curtains, rugs, books, unfoRtunatly humans, as we who are suffering know. So trash anyhing in your house made of these substances, it especially likes to lay eggs in your bedding. I threw out almost all of my belongings and minimized everything. I went to kmart and bought twin fold out iron bed frame(100 bucks) and a swiss blow up mattress (43 bucks) one allergy fitted mattress cover to protect against microscopic pest. I purchased xtreme clean, medicated wash and salve and pest dust from Q base solutions on line. The dust should be fine mist throughout your home, it smothers the mite and strips its skeleton and that of its eggs, I also put it on my body to smother any emerging mite. Neutrogena acne prone skin body wash and scrub has acid in it and I found that it flattens out those bumps and heals the skin. Use vitamin e oil to help repair skin. Eat as much fresh cloves of garlic as you can stand because it is a natural anti parasitic and it will also help to fight off infections. Eat alot of fruit and veggies for the vitamin c to keep your immune system up, its needed against this bug, Wash all your bedding and clothing everyday. If you can, after a bath coat yourself with petrolium jelly and add tea tree oil which kills their egg cycle to keep them from breeding in your home. Fine mist that dust in your bedding too and on all hard surfaces(not too much because you dont want them walking on it) you want to choke them out. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!!!!! dO NOT TRASH ITEMS UNTIL YOU GET THE DUST, if you disturb any of their nest they may come after you and you want to protect yourself. Use the dust in your car because the mite goes where you go. I hope to God that this helps someone.

Yes the bugs did come back because they lay eggs and the eggs hatch. I had to scrub with borax everyday for about a month. I also only wore clothing once and washed the sheets in hot water. I also bought food grade diatomaceous earth and put the dust all over my house and skin. The itching has finally stopped. I now actually think they were bed bugs instead of scabies but both are very pesty bugs and produce the same type of itch. This all happened because I took in and slept on an old bed mattress from my parents friend. I got rid of the mattress and will never do that again.

I had my first bleach bath last night and no more crawling feelings today. The scabies were mainly on my scalp and chest. I dipped my hair in the bath for a couple of minutes as I was laying there. Then I aired dried and an hour later I had a shower. I had secondary scabies after not treating my scalp the first time (benzyl benzoate) I have tried everything. It looks like the bleach works. I will need to continue baths every 2 or 3 days as I will need to keep up with the new batches of eggs that hatch until the population is down. Fingers crossed

I have been infected with buggies for years. I have tried EVERYTHING and I do mean everything.

In desperation I decided to try garlic. I chop up 2 gloves of raw garlic every morning, mix with butter or olive oil and spread on bread. I am still not completely clean but 80% of the sores on my skin have disappeared and the rest are healing. Apparently the chemicals in garlic spread throughout your body. This is long term however.

Another thing is eggplant. It comes close to worming you.

Also, get a plastic bottle bidet and clean yourself with clear water after every bowel movement. Afterwards, wipe with petroleum jelly. Make sure that you are absolutely clean because that is where these buggies come from. It took me years to figure out that my own insides were the source of the problem.

Combining long term use of garlic and internal and external cleansing can reduce the miseries and give you a start in getting rid of the buggers.

Another thing that works on the sores on the skin is Vicks. Rub it in and it stops the itches and starts the healing.

I don't know how to get rid of them permanently.

Scabies only got worse, and this comes and goes. Several of the meds I still had from scabies that never worked (Triamcinolone) are helping this, making a big difference. I think having had scabies for so long, I've developed greater sensitivity to other skin problems. I go to the doctor next week (an allergist this time).

I had scabies in 2010;they hatch out on 30 day intervals, learn how 2 time that.Doctors should no that, the 1 I had did and kept me infested to get my $$$.Yes, unfortunately most dr.s today r very unethical, so ur probably better off on ur own.My scabies turned into the norwieghan variety because I drove them off my body in a 130 degree bath. They are permithrin resistant, to the 5&10% permetrin. If you go to ace hardware&get the 38% permethrin &double the water dilution you have 19&1/2% prmethrin. I kept a spray bottle next 2 me at all times .I kept the house&bedding etc.clean, but what really got em was spontaniously spot treating with my 19% perm. Every little itch or twitch even if I had to get up at 2:oo a.m., lift the scab or bump its under&spray directly on site .It got the scabies; unfortunately they had already attracted a co-infection of bird mites to my home & it being 3.5 years I think it has progressed into morgellons now. It's only 10 or 12 dollars for a bottle that will make several gallons of treatment, spray the house, yard&septic system with the straight 38% mix.

So, if all you have is scabies, that should be all you need. I got rid of it in less than 3 months once I started doing this .Hope this cures you.

I thought I was allergie to Lobster, as I had just been to Maine and had eaten Lobster for the first time, and I had lobster everyday for about a week. Was alarmed to find out we had contracted scabies while on this trip. We used Oregano mixed with olive oil so we could cover our entire body, this did help, but read later that DMSO used especially when the break out first occurs works wonders. You might want to try DMSO, but be sure you put it on only after you have bathed and have no other medication on your body. Be sure to wash your bed linens, towels and clothing each day with ___Natural Enzyme Cleaner until all sign of scabies are gone. Good Luck & God Bless God

Kleen Green works. Google it. It is an enzyme spray that dissolves their hard shells. I got some a couple weeks ago. You need to take shower and then dry off well. To one ounce of the Kleen Green add 7 ounces of water. Spray everywhere, all body crevices including your naval, ears, nose, genitals, (because if they can hide out they will.) Leave the spray on for thirty minutes, it is worth it, just stand there in the tub. Use the spray all over your hair too. You can leave this on. It is totally safe. It is organic and only made with 4 enzymes.

BUT you have to do this twice a day, along with washing all your bedding, clothes etc...

Make sure you also bathe your pets with it. They can also carry this and then you get it back again and it keeps on going.

Orange and Neem Oils, Borax and H2O2

My twenty one year old son with Down syndrome has had jock itch since he went through puberty. Over the counter remedies didn't work. Essential oils such as eucalyptus and tea tree helped a little but not significantly, and irritated his already sensitive skin. More diluted mixtures to protect the skin weren't strong enough to help significantly. Eventually the skin became purplish gray (from chronic jock itch, according to the doctor). In addition, the skin on his entire body is always red, very dry and irritated looking.

Recently I had scabies and decided to treat my son in order to prevent him from catching them. The things i did differently than usual were to add some orange oil to his body wash and shampoo, I rubbed his skin with neem oil and/or extract in olive oil carrier daily, and soaked him twice in one week with Ted's borax/hydrogen peroxide soak (not too much peroxide) and left it on the skin. After about ten days, I brought him to the doctor to make sure he didn't have scabies. When the doctor examined his private area, he looked so surprised and commented about how much better my son's skin looked. My mouth dropped open when I noticed that beautiful normal color of his skin of his private area. In fact although still dry looking, the redness that pretty much covers his entire body is about eighty-five per cent gone! I realized that he hasn't been scratching lately either. I don't know which of the three remedies contributed to his improvement, possibly a good combination of treatments. In fact it's early to tell, but he might even be completely cured of the jock itch. I chose the neem for it's anti-scaby benefits, but also because it's said to be kind to the skin. I had the impression from researching that neem eliminates scabies, over time, with consistent daily applications, not a one or two time application to be effective.

BTW, I enjoy sharing effective remedies, because we've been helped so much by the info on the site and i like to give back.

I found eucalyptus oil to be quite a potent natural insecticide. I have read it fries small insects such as fleas and head lice and so far appears to have stopped the scabies. It doesnt irritate my skin. I think essential oils work but perhaps take a bit longer than the chemical based treatments.

Orange essential oil will get rid of scabies. you can put several (10-12) drops in your bath water and also make a spray of orange oil and water in a sprayer bottle - put enough so that you can smell the orange oil. i have also used it topically by mixing it with a carrier oil (olive or coconut). it won't hurt you however to use it straight - but be careful because it can cause sun-sensitivity. also orange juice or lemon or lime juice should also work.

when my best friend had scabies and couldn't use the prescription cream and treatment from the doctor this is what she used and had immediate relief. also i was helping her apply the orange oil and i had first put some on myself (the spray) and i didn't get scabies from her.

try it it works! and it is very cheap - which is good also. you can buy orange essential oil in the health food section of your grocery oil - where you would find lavender oil. also google orange oil for scabies and they also make a commerical spray that is similar made of the inside peel of the orange - the chemical is called D'Limonene.

To those of you who think mites cannot be transferred between humans and animals, I'm sorry, they can. We got our initial infection from some chickens-not a scabies mite, but a rat mite according to the lab at University of Texas who tested ours. There appears to be some mis-labeling due to the spread of different kinds of mites. Also, keep in mind that your local vets and docs do not know how to deal with the unknown mites- they are only used to what their books tell them. You cannot see them without the aid of bi-focal glasses a good magnifying glass. This type of rat mite lived in some washed blankets I had stored in my huge closet for over a year! When we got them out the next winter,we were all itching like mad in less than 30 min. and had to get up, strip everything and take a shower. They have killed my mom's parrot (ate thru his ears into his brain), and my sister's dog (infested a cat bite in his throat and the vet said it looked like a tumor, only 2 months after the bite). When my mom got tested, they sliced a piece of her infected abdomen skin. Under the microscope it only looked like many bits and pieces of mites, but mites. We infected our 4 pomeranians, even tho the vet said they could not get them as they were taking Revolution treatment once a month. We do not have scabies, according to the books, but it looks like scabies. Its itches like scabies, and it spreads rapidly. On the dogs, it looks like mange around the eyes and mouth. If I had not had two adult males in denial, I could have already rid myself of them. Ps, I am currently taking 2 tsp of curry powder each day to keep them from biting me as I am extremely allergic and break out badly. If I get into an infested area, they will get on and crawl around and itch a little until I go shower them off with borax and H Pero. At least I am sleeping nights and no more sores, boils, infected areas. I am taking curry because it has a high concentration of turmeric and was all I had around the house. Started working after the second day. One website for spices said turmeric has been used topically (on the skin) for scabies. Best Wishes, and thank you Ted for your kind advice.

Hydrogen Peroxide, Zinc Oxide Ointment

Hi there, I was just reading through your page and got a lot of helpful information from all of the posts. I have scabies intensely on my wrists, and a very small out-break on my netherands. Now, I had gone to see my doctor abut the condition (knowing already what it was (that's right, this isn't the first time) he prescribed me the same medication as before; NIX Topical Cream. Now, this worked absolutely wonderful the first time I came across scabies. However, it was only today (four weeks after my first application of the NIX Topical Cream) and now after applying the same cream for the fourth time/bottle/30g each) my scabies still haven't gone away, and I find out that the scabies mite just might be immune to the treatments? Well, that pissed me off as you could probably guess, and $120.00 later (not including cleaning supplies and time). After reading the posts, I immediately went (stomped) to the washroom and ran my wrists under HOT water to open up my pores and then pulled out the hydrogen peroxide, and started rubbing it around on my wrists, WOW, I'm not sure if it felt soo good or soo painful!?!? Anyway, after I applied it, there appeared to be a lot of bubbling. I waited a minute or two and then washed it off. I then applied a Zinc Oxide Cream used for diaper rash and skin irritation. The burning from the peroxide soothed away, but as I'm typing to you now (5 minutes later after all of that) I appear to have a yellow transparent discharge in the area of the rash on my wrists. I'm sure it will be okay though. The reason I used Hydrogen Peroxide is because I use every time I get cold-sores (fever-blisters) on my lips. And I found it worked the quickest and without scarring. Instead of developing a big blister on my lip, if I applied the peroxide at the first sign of the cold-sore, the swelling went down almost without even a scab. I would apply it with simply a q-tip, about 3-4, 5 times daily, for one or two days, the discomfort of having a cold-sore goes away almost after the first day, and the feeling of relief feels sooo nice. I'll write again to tell you how well this works, side-effects, and how long it takes if it does. I still have a feeling that this might have been a bad idea; I don't care anymore at this point. I can't afford it or stand it anymore. Hey! The bright side is, I haven't cut off my hands yet *laughs* Thanks, Steve.

Hi Steve- I have had your problem before & know how intense the itching can be. I don't know the topography where you are, but if you know what poke sallet (also known as pokeweed) is, the root of this plant is boiled in water, cooled enough to apply to the affected areas for scabies. At the times I had the problem I didn't know this, so have not tried it personally. I have eaten poke sallet and have taken poke berries for arthritis problems, so I can tell you that the plant is not likely to kill you. My next younger brother (now 72 years young) did tell me about his grown daughter came to him with the same problem of scabies, asking him what to do. Since I had told him about using the root for this purpose, he dug up a root, cleaned it, boiled it and gave her the water it was boiled in to lavishly apply it to the affected areas. He laughed as he told me about how it worked. She told him that "it set me on fire" but got rid of the scabies in one application.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I was using the HP and get "burned" so stopped. Start using the ACV and "burn". start Borax, burn part of my face, neck and chest but I did not stop the borax treatment.

After 2 months I tried the h2o2 and the Apple Cider Vinegar again just to see what happen. Surprise, didnt burn anymore. For me the burn was the killing of some fungus. In a normal healthy skin I guess dont do that. I am free to use it again.

I had bought some hydrogen peroxide from a natural store. It turned out to be 98% HP. Well I'm glad I didn't get any on my skin. At that concentration it is used as fuel for engines. Be careful with the concentrations of HP you use. @ high concentrations it is ACID on your skin.

I don't think I have scabies, yet. I found out my niece was on the street for like 6 months. I brought her to my home a few weeks ago. No a lot of physical contact which is good, turned out she has scabies. I did wash all her sheets. I have given her 2 Nix treatments. Her friend can only afford 1 so I will pay for the second treatment for her friend.

I am allergic to most medications. I've tried the sauna heat. I am going to try a hot bath with HP, Borax, Japanese Mint Oil (Like Vick's) and then cover myself with hydrogen peroxide and then smother myself & the mites (if I have them) with Vaseline.

At least the first week my niece stayed at a friends house mostly. And I traced the source and how they have been playing (ping-pong) with this scabies for the last 6 months. Pray for me that I just have Hypochondria (not Mitochondria - sorry for this really bad pun, scabies ain't fun! ) from googling all this scabies information and not actual scabies...

Yes, you can 100% see scabies with an IPhone camera (which is as good as a microscope these days). You can see the actual mite, you can see the eggs and you can see the fecal matter around them. I work with the infectious disease department and it is a FACT that yes, you can see them. You can also see them with a naked eye if you know exactly what you're looking for. It obviously just looks like a tiny spec, but if you have been diagnosed with scabies, you know what those specs are.

Scabies can be seen very clearly. Especially the large adults. I have jar full of them. I had one get in eye and quickly grabbed a 20 year old incision line from RK corrective eye surgery and pulled it open. Luckily I had some liquid metronidazole and that got him to let go. I pulled it off my eyelash. Lucky that I got in to see an eye doctor in the morning or I cuold have lost my eye sight. It was badly swollen and infected. I used decolorized iodine ( 2 drops in a 1/2 ounce of water to get them out of my eurethra where they had a nest nearly blocking urination. I read on one site a doctor describing scabies as a nusciance! The bigger ones make make blood run out when they burrow. Rusts can be killed with calamine lotion applied with multiple coats till they gone.

Well, I have itchy scalp, ear (flaky too) and now in one spot on my genitals. I've been missdiagnosed before' doctors told me I have psoriasis but I knew it's not true because my husband and my niece got it too. I am so so desperate to heal it :( I can't sleep during the night:(

I probably have scabies, and right this minute I'm going to take a bath with tee tree oil and coconut to kill them. We are washing the bedding EVERY DAY due to obsession.

I hope I have something I can get rid of.

I would try natural sea salt in water... That may help. Also, working toward a good ph balance may help too. Apple cider vinegar on the spots may help as well... One other idea is hand sanitizer on spots.

Sea salt maybe the overall best long term help, others have posted much about sea salt and the benefits.

All of these ideas work great for little ones as well.

For those of you using essential oils, be sure to use "therapeutic" grade oils. Also be careful of clove oil-it is a "hot" oil and be irritating to skin. Also always do a patch test first.

I'm sorry, but you are perhaps misinformed. Keep in mind that there are many types of scabies mites and therefore, many sizes of mites. In my quest for relief, I've encountered several persons who, by all accounts, are suffering with forms of scabies that shouldn't affect humans, but so obviously do! The zip lock baggie in my freezer shows the 12-13 mites of many different stages or sizes that came out and were very visible on a white washcloth during a particularly successful treatment I tried, but which didn't rid me completely of the little buggers!

Oregano Oil and Liquid Soap

This will work--no exceptions! Run hot shower over body for a couple minutes to open pores; turn off shower; add 5 drops pure oregano oil to some liquid soap like Dr. Bronner's Eucalyptus Soap. Mix in hands and apply to one major limb--left arm, e.g. Do the same again for the right arm. Again for the torso, and again for both legs respectively. It will burn. Tolerate it for as long as you can--between 3 to 5 minutes at the most. Rinse.

For me it cures these no-see-ums that I presume to be some kind of mite. I frequently get infested after handling papers or books that have previously been infected. Why I just don't throw out all these things so that I'll never be exposed again, I don't know. Actually, it's because I'm an information junkie and hope that freezing or cooking in the oven will rid these papers/books of these parasites. Not necessarily! I just got a new infestation which brings me here to this website. I did "the treatment" just now and it works. It burns the little critters to death. Just accept that your skin will burn also for the 3-5 minutes before you rinse it, and somewhat after. But you will definitely feel an immediate sense of relief because your nerve endings won't be agitated any longer

Oregano Oil and Liquid Soap

To treat books and papers that are infested with no see-ums....Put the papers, books in plastic bags, add cotton balls that have been soaked in ammonia to the bags and seal them up, leave over night. This worked for me. I used gallon freezer zip-loc bags rather than a huge bag with too much paper. You'll have to arrange the cotton so that it isn't too sopping wet and doesn't wet the papers. Be careful not to breathe the ammonia - it's toxic to your lungs. Also, be very careful not to have ammonia fumes near any possible chlorine bleach fumes, as the mixture of ammonia fumes and bleach fumes can kill you. Also works for shoes - put ammonia-soaked cotton balls into shoes and seal the shoes up in a plastic bag for 24 hours or so.

I made the mistake of letting my friend sleep on my couch once a week. Whenever he came over, he always was itching and it would always get worse at night. He went to the doctor and he TOLD me that the doctor said it was "just allergies". What i found out LATER was that the doctor told him he had scabies- he was just "too embarrassed" to tell me the truth, so he told me that it was just allergies. 5 weeks later of me thinking i just had allergies, my friend calls me up and tells me the truth, that he had scabies. So now i have these stupid critters burrowing in my skin, all because he was "too embarrassed" to tell me. All of this could had been prevented.

Long Story Short, guys, don't be embarrassed... it's better to be cautious than to spread your scabies with the rest of the world.

OK! So now I too am DYING of these itchy mo-fo's.

2 Days ago- i went to the dermatologist and she perscribed me that toxic cream crap (starts with a P).

It's been 2 days and nothing has happened as far as the cream goes... i don't know what to do. The itching was getting SO bad and i had to do something so i JUST tried 2cups Peroxide/2 cups Borax bath. I also just changed ALL my bedding and sprinkled borax all over the mattress and the ground.

I plan on doing the bath once a day until it goes away. I'll let you know what happens!

Moxidectin

The cure for scabies is moxidectin. We tried everything to cure the scabies, but nothing worked and we have had this for 8 years. Finally we tried the horse dewormer gel in a tube called moxidectin. It is not meant for people. But for horses and animals, but I discovered the government has been testing it for scabies, and it is FDA approved for river blindness, which is a type of roundworm. So, yes, people do use it anyway. I got the moxidectin off of Amazon and there is a slide handle on the end. That explains how to use it. But for people each tick is one black short line and is for 50 pounds of weight. Maximpulse site explains how to use this moxidectin and we truck it one time as he advised on the dose, but he is not responsible. Here, as he just tells how he used it and not telling anyone else to do it. And neither am I

All I am saying is we took it one time one single dose and it killed all of the scabies. This moxidectin starts working right away, killing them. And it will work for a round a month to kill them. All so one dose is all that is ever needed. Check it out as this stuff. Really works Maximpulse moxidectin.

Hi DB from Canada –

Regarding the Bio-magnetic Pair Therapy (7 treatments at 45 minutes per treatment) - I'm curious.

Do you see a bio-magnetic practitioner for the sessions or do you have your own set of magnets and self-treat?

https://biomagnetismsedona.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/NewStandard_in_Self-Help_Care.pdf

The red and black magnets are on Amazon under the brand name MagnetRX®, as well as a book by Dr. Groiz.

Is that what you (or your practitioner) use?

If magnets can help a number of ailments, it sounds like it would be very handy to have them in the family's first aid kit.

Thanks, Tessa

I'll have to check to see if there are any in my area!

Hello Cate, thank you for answering. I used Apple Cider Vinegar often last year. Only that the burning is a little bit better for a half hour, nothing happened. And I let the pure apple cider vinegar on the skin. It isn´t powerfull enough. And it is a good notice, that it must be more itching, because of the dead mites. Sometimes I had it a little bit with sulphur cream or with cayenne pepper cream, but not enough to healing, because it don´t reach all the mites (because are deeper under the skin). And I used a lot from them.

When I have a solution, I will post it immediately

Now I removed my tooth titan implants and the speed of spresding is reduced, but not so that it can heal. Can you describe your oil concotion? To make all clean I do it with the sprays you describe. I have the problem that the mites don´t go away from me, not with new infection only by self infection (hand to skin in the face and so on, I wear the whole day gloves). Where I can buy animal stuff? Also, I applied neem oil to my hair to help end infestations. Although it smelled like weird peanut butter, it worked.

I want to add a little to the T cell auto immune destructive response you mentioned. I have had a terrible time with my skin reactions causing sudden and unhealing permanent wounds that I constantly have to dig into and remove the little mite islands and tunnel systems that masquerade as new skin cell scar type tissue. The salacylic acid I figured out as I desperately dug through my garage and under the sinks of my home searching for something I felt I could tolerate in open wounds that the mites could not.

One new thing I've added in a revelation to the newest revised routine I'm practicing is implementing very religious vitamin and mineral daily supplements. I personally am terribly anemic so the blood attracts the mites and every paper cut or mosquito bite ends up a giant crater hosting a permanent bug festival. Iron and all the associated letter vitamins required for it's absorption seems to be changing the game in it's department of boosting my body's metabolic and hematologic functions and leading to actual healing of some long standing wounds. The prenatal vitamin is my personal choice for it's very complete coverage of vitamins and minerals we all require daily and many of us, without even realizing, have been lacking for longer than we have had buggy troubles. I suggest a long with the topical, and oral pharmaceutical methods used daily, make sure to add your super vitamins and skin health supplements such as vitamin c, callogen, and calcium, magnesium, and zinc. Our skim is the first line of defense and seems to be the weakest link in the forces we have to combat the bugs that Satan sends. Research the tissue and blood cell support elements as well as your immune health boosters. A nutritionist or dietician may be able to help a ton by getting comprehensive blood levels of every vitamin mineral etc you currently have, and show you the exact points of deficiency or lacking.

Lastly I want to throw this little bit in: I personally had to stop the antibacterial soap cleansing of my skin because I learned that prehistoric people did not struggle with this disease due to their healthy skin flora. There are so many bacteria and microscopic helpers that are also bugs and live on us without us ever realizing the defense they provide by eating and eliminating a ton of things that are a potential threat to us as well as their happy home in our pores. When we systematically remove these helpers, it's very hard to ever get that back. I'm going to do a bit of research on that note. Im now on a mission of possible clay, or volcanic ash mud type skin therapies that can reintroduce good bugs into my skin microbiome and hopefully give me an advantage over the rapid repopulations I see daily. Basics is the key I'm thinking as of late. Nature and dirt is all people had b4 modern chemistry and the bugs were never heard of till recent times. I'm gonna focus on that concept for now to keep me busy and not crazy!!

There is no way you can see SCABIES mites with the naked eye. You would need bionic macro vision or a very powerful magnified glass at LEAST! What you are seeing is not scabies mites, maybe lice. While the treatments you state are likely to work on both types.

Can you tell me exactly how much of each went into lotion and spray bottle. Also, how much in the bath? What did you use the spray on? I'm sorry if you explained it and I am not fully understanding? I just don't want use wrong.

Linda: I am a retired medical librarian. Some friends of mine with scabies have asked me to search this for them and I have in turn asked them for feedback on what they have discovered. A British study in the 1940s showed that 3/4ths of the mites are on the arms, wrists, hands, and fingers. I found and purchased for them a cheap (less than $20) 45 power hand microscope on the Internet. They claim they can see the mites with it. From the feedback they have given me, they say the various things like Ivermectin, Permethrin, Neem, clove oil, Nu-Stock, hydrogen peroxide with borax for the most part eradicated almost all of the mites from the body areas outside the arms, wrists, hands, and fingers. They tell me with the hand microscope, they could actually see that the mites burrowed UNDER their fingernails to escape some of the treatments, or under the cuticles, or under the thickest skin of the hands like where the knuckles attach to the hands. They said they have finally focused on using the various chemicals on those areas with nitrile gloves or long plastic glove, especially at night while still eradicating the mites elsewhere on the body. They have struggled with this for five years, apparently with Norwegian scabies form of this. From their last report several months ago, they had not eradicated the mites, but focusing on the arm to finger area has cut down the pin pricks on the rest of the body. I hope this feedback from them might help you.

Thanks for the info. As I said, and have found to work, the hair dryer. It is amazing. As hot as you can stand it, and you see right away that they are no longer alive. I had to keep doing this, probably those hidden, eggs, whatever ... but every time it was amazing. A place would be red and alive feeling. After the hair dryer. Not red and alive. I will keep the info about fingernails and such, that is good to know. The whole world should know about the hairdryer. Please tell your friends to try it.

Hi Linda, I was exposed to scabies about 4 weeks ago and this morning I woke up with what looked like it around the bottom of my neck. Thank goodness for your post. I really appreciate it. I'm worried my kids may have contracted this from me whilst I have been incubating it. Any way, on your advice I blasted them with a hairdryer this morning and they have gone but I have made my skin very red and I blasted them like 1 hour ago. Do you think this is necessary? Am I making it too hot? I don't want to do unnecessary permanent damage to my skin! Also how long do you need to blast them for? Thank you so much for helping all of us with you advice and experience!

Did the vinegar rinse cure scabies for you or someone you know or just the other skin issue you had before?

I have been working with someone who has scabies. They also had trouble with reinfestation. They indicate that the mites get under the thick skin on the hands and under the fingernails and cuticles. I purchased for them a cheap 45 power pocket microscope on the Internet and they claim they can see the mites with. From the research that I found, and medical journal indicated that about 3/4 of the mites are on the arms, wrist, hands, and fingers. They have said they have used nitrile glove at night to cover their hands and wrists with various things like clove oil, Nu-Stock, Permethrin, and Neem with diatomaceous earth. From last I talked to them, they still are having reinfestations despite those tactics. They seem to think that the arms, wrists, hands, and fingers appear to them to be the hardest area to eradicate the mites and that is where they think the reinfestations are coming from.

Robert Henry: According to the temperature chart that I found, the 140-180 degree sauna temperatures would be in a danger zone. Did you just use it for the clothes, bedding, etc. or it you were in a sauna for those temperatures, how long. I don't want to pass information on to people who might be harmed using it.

Table of Hot Water Scalding Temperatures and Times:

Water Temperature Setting Exposure Time Effects of Exposure to Hot Water at High Temperatures on adult skin
100 deg F or below Most water heaters are unlikely to scald an adult occupant
120 deg F 5 minutes 2nd & 3rd degree burns on adult skin
130 deg F 30 seconds 2nd & 3rd degree burns on adult skin
140 deg F 5 seconds 2nd & 3rd degree burns on adult skin

150 deg F

1.5 seconds 2nd & 3rd degree burns on adult skin
160 deg F 5 seconds 2nd & 3rd degree burns on adult skin

HI U GLEN,,,,,,,,,, guess you have never had a sauna in Sweden or Finland. I have a certificate when I went through a 180 degree sauna. I was in this sauna for an hour.

Suggest you read the book written by Ron L. Hubbard who came up with a sauna detox for his LSD friends. They were in the sauna for hours on end... for weeks, and using flushing niacin.

Excuse my reply, but you hit a nerve. Your chart is about hot water, my experience is about a sauna.

Sauna will not work. Scabies burrow into your skin. If you enter a sauna, your skin temperature will not get hot enough deep down. To get to kill temperature, your deeper layers of skin will need to go above 122'F. That temperature would result in skin burns.

I'm a huge fan of saunas, but not as a scabies cure.

BRIAN,,,,,,,,, hold on good buddy. You got the right string baby, but the wrong yoyo, as the old Piano Red song of the 50's goes. He used to play for our ATO fraternity dances at Ga Tech. Boy was that the good times. At 80, it brings tears to my eyes. Don't get old.

If you go back in the EC archives you will read where I cured my skin mites with my FIR sauna after my doctors failed. A FIR sauna penetrates your body by 1 1/2", and that is the reason I converted my Finish sauna to a FIR years ago. I did this procedure after I read where mites die at 120 degrees.

Brian, I love you, but you are putting out stuff that you have no clue. I have been in sauna's in Finland that were above 180 degrees and got a certificate to prove it.

I'm roughing you up and the EC bosses don't like that, but I think you will take this like a man and understand that you need to research some more. Folks take what is posted on EC as gospel. I can promise you that some are good and some are not. Know your poster.

Robert Henry,

Thanks for posting about the far-infrared sauna eradicating the mites. I'm all the sudden suffering from this, and I would appreciate if you would let me know the protocol you used (what temp (120,130?) how long at time (I'm guessing at least 30 minutes) did it take a few days, weeks, etc to get rid of the problem?

We found a place to take a far-infrared sauna, but I'm guessing we might need to get our own -- thanks for the referral.

DAVID, I have already written my protocol several years ago and it is in the EC archives. It is long and complex because you have to keep treating the newly hatched eggs. Clothes, bed clothes have to be collected daily in a plastic bag and washed in scalding water. You are going to have to get your sauna to 160-180 and stay for 30 to 40 minutes. A rough mitt is needed for your shower to scrub away the critters into the drain. This procedure will take about two months. Wish you well.

Not worth taking a chance on bedding because it only takes ONE pregnant female to start the nightmare all over again. It's a nightmare ESPECIALLY when scabies are now resistant to permethrin and ivermectin. This MAY not have been a problem 10 years ago but it is now and your information, is at present, misleading.

1. Not everyone here is describing obvious scabies infestations. There are literature reports of human infestations with Psoroptes, Cheyletiella, Dermanyssus gallinae, Ornithonyssus sylviarum, Ornithonyssus bacoti - bird mites, rat mites, rabbit mites, and variants of Sarcoptes other than scabiei. Laymen can't reliably distinguish them.

2. Pesticide resistance is a thing. And the pharma industry seems to think that resistance to permethrin is overcome by modifying the side chains. They've forgotten all about drug class resistance, apparently, even with beta-lactamase sitting right in front of them.

3. Although only about 20% of young people carry Demodex [folliculorum, brevis, or both] 90% of 70+ year olds do. Immunity is also a thing. No reason this would not be true of other mite species.

4. The desire to kick people who are down is unbecoming. Until you have dealt with a refractory illness, consider that your experience is not all encompassing.

Host switching is a thing. And with climate change, we're going to see a lot more of it.

How are you able to keep bleach and water on you?

I tried the bleach and water sprayed on me at just the recommended mix on here and within a half hour I had an absolutely horrible headache. Is there some kind of bleach that you are using that doesn't have the awful harmful smell?
