I flushed my system well and truly!! I never eat junk food. No sugar; little if any fat and have been a vegetarian for many years. My particular bout of psoriasis is Koebners syndrome, caused by a reaction to minor surgery. It's just that it is taking longer to fix itself than usual. I'm now on Barley Grass and acidophilus. We will see what happens next.

Fasting will CURE psoriasis. It's hard to do tho. I was hospitalized for 3 months as a child due to my psoriasis, I have done PUVA, injections, and tons of horrible meds. Then I tried fasting. Cured it. There is a book on fasting called the miracle of fasting. GET IT.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Coconut Oil

I started having a rash and as it turns out it's psoriasis. Last week I started a combination of of both cider vinegar and coconut oil orally, per the site's recommendation. Well, there's a lot of different remedies there but upon reading them all these seemed likely to work.

Today I woke up to significantly clearer skin! I've heard that sunlight works too. (It's winter! ) Additionally, I applied the oil topically. Just wanted to give a shout of thanks! This condition is so gross It shut me down to the hopes of meeting someone to date. Of course more women have been flirting with me lately. Something about not being available...... ? What's the holistic approach to the opposite sex?

Baking Soda

★★★★☆

I've suffered from Psoriasis for about 3 years now. I have a patch of skin on my leg that is extremely dry, scaly, itchy and inflammed at times. I've tried soaking in Epsom Salt, it's helped somewhat. But recently I've been on a search for clean drinking water. In that search I've noticed that my drinking water has a pH of 5. 5. Since then I've used pinches of baking soda to bring the pH of my drinking water to 7.0. In a matter of about only 1 week my Psoriasis has improved drastically. It's much less dry, inflammation gone and the itch has completely gone away. It's still not completely healed but it's SOOO much better.

I'm currently drinking Poland Spring water. I'm still not done searching for the best drinking water yet. I don't know why the pH on this water is a 5.5. I retain the water I drink much better now, I used to pee it right out in minutes.

I'd love to know if this helps other people's Psoriasis.

Castor Oil
Posted by Herbgirl (Seattle, Wa, Usa) on 04/02/2011

Hi Paloma, I just wanted to back you up on the castor oil. It is one of those 'miracle' remedies that can be used on the skin, hair, and even as a hot pack for curing major internal diseases (see Edgar Cayce and castor oil).

I used castor oil on my psoriasis, along with an internal yeast treatment (see my psoriasis post called 'Candida Connection'), and found that it really sped up my healing. After just one use I noticed a huge difference on my psoriasis patches!

Castor oil is also great for age spots, wrinkles, dandruff, and a host of other maladies.

Glad you are well!

Apple Cider Vinegar

In addition to your use of apple cider vinegar I strongly suggest epsom salt baths as hot as you can stand preferably twice a day until the rash disappears. Here in Australia we can buy this stuff in bulk from farm cooperatives for around $2 kilo... Best investment I ever made.

Tanning Beds
Posted by Kathy (Dubois, Pa) on 09/17/2009

I am very skeptical of this "tanning beds are dangerous" thing. More and more evidence is coming out that light is a kind of nutrient, and that Vitamin D-3 the "sunshine vitamin" (actually a hormone) prevents and cures a whole host of diseases, and that humans have a process similar to photosynthesis in plants. Plus, humankind evolved to live in the sun, so it just doesn't make sense to me that sunlight is the CAUSE of skin cancer. It makes more sense to cast an eye at modern cosmetics and food additives, along with nutrient (especially pigment-type nutrients like beta-carotein, etc) deficient diets, REACTING WITH sunlight to cause skin cancer. I know that when I use commercial skin or body washes, the scent lingers for literally hours afterward. That must mean that the scent is penetrating my skin and/or bonding with my skin chemistry in some way. I don't know about any of you guys, but I think that cannot be a good thing. And those scents, flavors and colors are also hormone mimics and are based on the technology of solvents. And that's not to mention all the "preservatives", transfats, pesticides, herbicides, etc. that our so-called "food" is loaded with. Jeez, its a wonder anybody is alive at all. And then they blame the tanning booths or the sun.

Dietary Changes
Posted by Kay (Louisville, KY) on 04/11/2009

SORRY! I also forgot to mention to avoid alcohol, carbonated beverages, cigarettes (and of course second hand smoke), artificial sweeteners (aspartame/nutri-sweet, etc.), and ANY medication that warns about LIVER problems. Many psoriasis sufferers have compromised immune systems which can translate into a weak or stressed/compromised liver. For instance, acetaminophen, sold under many brand names, including Tylenol, is an ingredient in nearly 200 medications, both overthe-counter (such as Excedrin, Midol, NyQuil, and Sudafed) and prescriptions (such as Vicodin). The facts are in and the manufacturers MUST WARN YOU that it can cause serious liver damage - and even acute liver failure - if it is taken in high enough doses. In fact, it is one of the leading causes of liver failure in the United States, and accounts for an estimated 450 deaths per year. Also, you should avoid eating anything that has "garbage can tendencies" (such as the pig mentioned earlier). Unfortunately, as much as I LOVE crab, they are scavengers. They are the pigs of the sea, eating whatever dead things end up on the bottom of the ocean. Yummy...

There are probably other things I am forgetting; however, the best thing I can tell you is this: LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. If you eat something and your skin reacts to it, figure out what the culprit was. Just a for instance: many, many luncheon meats contain what is called "nitrates" and "nitrites". These are NOT good for you if you have psoriasis and you should avoid them.

What is so sad about this is that you will quickly realize that the reason you have Psoriasis is because your system has been being poisoned by a food industry who cares nothing for you and everything about their bottom dollar. Everyone's system is different. Not everyone ends up with psoriasis. Some people can eat crappy food and it won't affect them until much later in life. You'll have someone perfectly "healthy" who drops dead of a heart attack or comes down with some form of aggressive cancer or some other disease. We have diseases cropping up that no one has ever heard of before. The connection between what you put in your mouth and your health cannot be ignored. :)

Glycerin

Glycerin (psoriasis)

In about 2002, animal model studies at Georgia Medical School established that Glycerin (glycerol) suppressed excess skin growth and foliation, and re-established normal layering. It also doubles healing speed and halves scarring. I've been using it with great success since on psoriasis flare-ups.

It penetrates the skin readily in 10-15 minutes, and is infinitely miscible with water (hygroscopic). So any excess rinses away instantly, or can be wiped with a damp cloth.

It is 3-carbon alcohol, syrupy, tastes sweet, and is an approved food supplement used in large quantities in everything from ice cream, to soaking raisins (to hold moisture in), to toothpaste, cosmetics, and skin lotions. Can be diluted to spray on, or applied by hand or on a cotton swab. For the scalp, apply 15 minutes before showering.

Works quickly, and suppresses itching better than most medications by calming the cells' cytokine output, it seems.

VERY inexpensive. Spreads readily and thinly, no rubbing in necessary.

Use for injuries, burns, sunburn, etc. also. Your skin will thank you.

I have had psoriasis for at least 15 years and have recently tried acv and water to cleanse my inner body. Cool water does help. I also was going to an acupuncture doctor and it's now almost reversed. They told me heat is the worst thing for psoriasis and acv is great to work on the inside of your body. Toxins need to be removed from your body. Also try going organic and stay away from too much alcohol.

Aloe Vera

Boric acid USP l have read alleviates psoriasis. Soak a cotton ball dab on affected areas.l would say dab on up to three times a day.

As to a tea Cats claw from Peru only as their variety has more bio activity Wonderful for immune system. Amazon World Botanical's. Works well in a mist bottle so mist on face, hair/ scalp with clean hands rub in. Mist on psoriasis affected areas gently rub on.

Actually any skin problem. Drink the tea spring water no R/O (hydrogen bond water Ellis Water best eBay has it)twice a day AM/ PM.

A man called me years ago. He had stage 4 liver cancer. He was entering a university program. Intensive chemo where everyone had hair loss and expectorated, etc. He ordered the Cats claw tea. Did not hear from him for quite some time.

Long story short -he called me -5 years in remission; only one who didn't lose his hair and never got sick! Drs. saw this then privately had each patient add Cats claw to their protocol! Works.

So if it can do that let's see how it handles the immune system relative to psoriasis!

There are huge differences between psoriasis and eczema. If you are not sure what you have, you should be correctly diagnosed. They are not at all the same thing.

Suggestions for the following: use USP -especially if taking orally many powders contain impurities -which is the highest purity: Baking soda, Borax, Epsom salts, Clays, etc.

Supplements:fruits, vegetables, herbs, Amino acids, vita C, should be Organic or like with L Arginine USP or Pharma grade- both grades safer more effacious.

All this is if one has the funds as higher grades cost more as we all know. Then pick, if possible, your most important items to be organic or USP or Pharma grade.

Coffee organic, yes, but processing should be steam process as roasting destroys many nutrients in the nutrition packed beans. One brand has a patented process by a scientist which retains nutrients by recirculating. You can read about it.Healthy Roast Coffee (R)

”Scientists create ‘ super' offer roasting technique.”1

1. Nutralngredients USA has sound well researched articles each month on nutrition and related subjects.

”Brandeis NOW Coffee flour offers a potentially healthier way of enjoying Java.”12/11/15

This is exciting. Besides drinking but Baking too using coffee flour? Or mixing with an organic flour/s? More antioxidants and gives your baked goods a ‘pick me up'!

maybe an infection?

well I been dealing with psorasis for almost 10 ten years now. and its driving me crazy. so I think im having a throat, ears, and stomach problem. an infection I guess. a few months back I bought pepcid complete tablets and prilosec for heartburn(1 tablet a day) and after a few days I noticed the psorasis slowed down. kind of weird. so I did another colon cleanse and it looks like its slowly clearing again. but I'm still dealing with itchy throat and ears. ordered some stuff to deal with that. we'll see what happens.

Avoid Nickle-Containing Foods

Update: soy seems to be the trigger for the psoriasis or rash. I applied ACV with paper towels and instant relief! Also, I used Sarna itch cream and O'Keefe's at the base of my scalp to “break up” the rash. It is clearing up. I also took baths with coconut oil and one day did an ACV bath. Stinky, but effective! Thanks, Earth Clinic! Check ingredients at your local restaurants for allergens such as soy and caramel coloring (causes cancer).

Tea Tree Oil, Aloe, Coconut Oil
Posted by Crystal (Connecticut) on 06/17/2018
★★★☆☆

For scalp psoriasis, I currently use 6 drops tea tree oil, 1 tbsp aloe vera gel, and 1/2 tbsp coconut oil. I apply it to my scalp and leave it on overnight. In the morning, I wash it out and shower. This helps relieve the itching for a while. I have to do it every night, though. I hear shampoos can flare it up. I've been using a cleansing conditioner. Are there good shampoos for psoriasis that won't fade my hair color? Regular dandruff shampoos will fade my color with their sulfates and parabens, and they could also irritate my scalp.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Vitamin D3, Aloe
Posted by Ovrnite (Knoxville, Tn) on 04/21/2017
★★★★★

Had psoriasis develop, on thigh and calf, 2 years after surgery on leg. Ongoing for about 4 months, bless everybody that has been dealing with this for years. The areas are both about 6"x4".

For other health concerns I've been taking;
ACV- 2 tablespoons;
sodium bicarbonate 1-1/2 teaspoon in divided doses
potassium bicarbonate- 1 teaspoon in divided doses
Vitamin D3 - 7000ui
Along with other vitamins, herbs, etc.

1. When psoriasis showed up I started 'painting' on Lugols solution 2% which had some luck in slowing it down, not resolving it.
2. Then organic peppermint moisterizer over the Lugols. No improvement
3. 2 days ago I found 'EarthClinic' website. Got me thinking!
4.Sunshine good- substitute vitamin d3.
5. ACV good- use it to wash area.
6. Aloe Vera good- apply over ACV(Apple Cider Vinegar)
7. Menthol good- apply over Aloe Vera.

My routine is shower or wash area with Tea Tree Castile Soap
1. Scrub areas down with ACV, (yes, it stings a little) let dry
2. Open vitamin D3 capsule(5000iu) massage half into each area.
(I plan to do the D3 every other day)
3. Massage, 1/4" drop, Aloe Vera over each area, until tacky.
4. Spread Organic Peppermint Moisturizer over each area.
5. Cover each area with plastic wrap, tape edge if needed.

The plastic could be a problem for some. I repeat this process two times a day

Bottom line is that this might not work for everybody, but in two days I've gone from dark red, itchy, rough scaly thick MESS, to soft pink areas with no itching.
Will update this in a week.

Coconut Oil
Posted by Art (California) on 08/28/2016 2147 posts

Coconut oil is helpful for some people, but not for others. I went through many jars of quality CO both orally and topically with no noticeable change in psoriasis. I've read anecdotal reports saying it helps and others saying it doesn't. Definitely worth a try in case you are one of the lucky ones! It's pretty inexpensive and readilly available.

As far as being a cure, well......not for me.
