I had been diagnosed w/a 4mm kidney stone in the hospital ER via CTscan. Dr gave me pain killers & naseau medicine-that's it. Went to Uroligist 2 days later-he gave me Flomax-no results. I found this site here & gave the olive oil & lemon juice a try. 3 days later I'm totally pain free! I haven't seen a stone yet, so I'm guessing it got dissolved by the oolj mixture. Like Drano for kidney stones!

Hello Cecile,

Congratulations on eliminating kidney stones. I've succeeded in riding myself four times. As preventative do the same thing but on a small scale;

Take lemon juice from one half lemon in glass of water six times in one day. (Three lemons.) Do that one day a week as a preventative. If still problems, double the once a week as preventative.

Hi! I just started this lemon juice & olive oil remedy this past week due to symptoms of a possible kidney stone. All i can say so far is that when i get pain in my lower back and around by abdominal, it goes away after drinking this mix. I am still waiting for stone to pass. I really hate this feeling and it is quite frustrating.

Hydrangea bought in pill/capsule form in health food stores was the American Indian medicine to take away pain in your lower abdomen! I have passed a 6mm stone without feeling it, and I recently passed a 3.5mm stone that caused me pain the first 12 hours, but after starting the lemon juice/olive oil, Hydrangea, and using an item called chanca piedra (stone breaker) my stone passed within 14 hours! (When it passed I didn't feel anything, saw the stone in the strainer! )

I keep chanca piedra, Hydrangea with 100% lemon juice and 100% olive oil in our house all the time, as my cat scan a few years back showed I had 9 stones, 4 in one kidney, 5 in another! I've passed at least 5 of them, and all with little problem! When we travel, we take these items with us just in case!

My Doctor's office was amazed when I brought the 6mm stone in and told them it was pain free!

How much olive oil, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar did you take? Please clarify.

The thing that really works for me is apple cider vinegar! I have suffered several times with kidney stones. ACV had come to the rescue! I had a bout with it a while back and with-in twenty minutes the pain (severe lower back pain) had subsided.... I still had the pain but it wasn't as severe - I might add that when I had the attack, I couldn't even straighten up... I hurt soooo bad! I felt it all in the lower back area! I took a couple more doses (two Tbles. ) about every three hours throughout the day until the pain was completely gone. The way I understand it is that the ACV goes in and softens or breaks down and dissoves the stone... Causing it to crumble. I have seen remnents of it in the stool later on after taking the ACV. It looks kinda like sand that's washed up on a beach! I take apple cidar vinegar every day now. I still suffer from kidney stones once in a great while (I drink tea a lot and this causes kidney stones, , , BUT - I am hooked on tea, I can't help it)!! I will just take a bigger dose of the ACV and it works! I talked to my doctor and she told me what to watch out for if indeed I am passing the kidney stones... She told me that my urine will seem frothy (bubbly), and there will be tiny grits of what looks like sand that will float to the bottom of the stool. That's exactly what I see when I have had a kidney stone attack and they pass! Hope this helps! Have a great day.

I stumbled across this site after returning home from the emergency room the other day diagnosed with a 3.6 mm kidney stone. I was not even searching for home remedies, I was searching for an image of what the stone might look like. Thank God for Earth Clinic! I tried the lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil remedy at 5pm the day after returning home from the ER. The stone passed WITHOUT ANY PAIN at 1pm the following day. Am going to search this site for some other ailments that have been troubling me. Thank you Earth Clinic!

I had my first kidney stone last year, two days before Thanksgiving, with a household full of company. They hauled me out the door to the ER the day after Thanksgiving. I had a CT scan and they found one 5-6mm stone on my right side and said there might be one on the left side. Although they sent me home with pain meds, I began vomiting non-stop and went back and spent another 8 hours in the hospital before they again, sent me home to wait for the Blasting machine that would be available on Monday.

I have had four children through natural childbirth, and have NEVER felt such pain as I did with this stone.

Now here I am almost one year later and it's begun again. Two days ago I thought I had food poisoning. Then by last night I realized what was wrong and spent a night unable to sleep, wandering the house, waiting for morning.

A friend told me to take 3 Naproxin and research some home remedies since I did not want to repeat what happened last year. Then I came upon this site. I've had my first Lemon Juice/Olive Oil drink and will repeat that mid-day and tonght. Hopefully I'll have a great report like many others have posted here.

I'll be back!

I passed a kidney stone in 1990. A couple of weeks ago, I had similar pain and was diagosed with a 5mm stone in my right kidney. The ER doctor had a urologist take a look and he prescribed Flomax. I took it for a week and saw him in his office, where he found two more small stones in my left kidney. The 5mm stone had moved down to what I guess is just above my bladder. From reading this site, that seems like a common spot for them to get stuck for a while. The doctor didn't want to talk about cause or prevention. He just wanted to go in through my penis, grab it and drag it out, and leave a stent behind.

I scheduled the surgery but I felt like I had been sold a used car that I didn't want. The next day I cancelled the surgery and started taking chanca piedra, olive oil and lemons, and apple cider vinegar and apple juice in addition to still continuing to take the Flomax and lots of water.

I just passed the stone - 6 days later. Thanks so much for this site. I guess they would say that the Flomax worked, but I think the other things helped.

The dosage was two droppers of Break Stone from Amazon.com (chanca piedra and a couple of other things) in 1 cup of water twice a day, 2 oz. olive oil and 2 oz. lemon juice twice a day, and 2 oz. apple cider vinegar with the mother and 4 oz. Apple juice twice a day. I meant to take them three times a day, but things got in the way. The lemons cause nasty diarrhea so I couldn't take it unless I was close to a bathroom. And I get heartburn at night if I'm not careful, so I didn't take anything harsh like apple cider vinegar just before bedtime.

Once again, thanks so much for this website. I joke that it's folk medicine, but when the professionals are dismissive they leave us no choice but to try to get advice from real people on sites like this one.

Now I just need to figure out what to take to get rid of the two on my left side and adjust my diet to prevent them from happening again. I should add that I had been following the paleo diet for two months and from what I read in "No More Kidney Stones" I think this high-protein, fruit and vegetable (high oxalate) diet caused them.

Lemon Juice and Olive Oil for Kidney Stones: I can say this really worked! Had an ER visit and CT scan and they informed me my left kidney stone (3mm), passed but still show another possible 3mm stone in right kidney. This would total 4 for me in a 3 year timeframe. Was at home 3 weeks later and felt the wonderful pain again. Took (1) Ketoprofen 75 mg 1 hydrocodone/acetaminophen5-325 TB thinking the pain could be bearable for what was coming... Three hours later, pain still pulsating and no results I read this topic online. Mixed 2 ounces of pure lemon squeezed juice by hand and 2 ounces of olive oil (not even virgin etc. ). In 15 minutes the stone came out of my body. I'm a beliver if this and was trully amazed. Thank you!

I found this website after suffering from kidney stones since dec 26 2012. Today is feb 14 2013. I was in so much pain and could barely function. I had a 4 mm stone between my kidney and bladder in my ureter. I tried taking flomax my doctor gave me which did nothing. I read all the posts on the site and decided I had nothing to lose. I did the lemon and olive oil. I drank apple cider vinegar numerous times a day and I took capsules filled with chanca piedra. My stone came out 3 days after trying these remedies. I thank everyone who posted their experiences. I was really not a believer but I stuck to it and here I am, feeling just as I did the day before dec 26. Stick to it. It will all be worth it :)

To all the very helpful EC readers,

I went through an agonizing night of what was confirmed as kidney stone pain. Apparently I passed a small one on my own, but CT scan showed 3 more small (1 or 2 mm) ones in kidney. I'd like to try to dissolve them with the lemon juice/olive oil procedure. Should it be taken on an empty stomach? Or does it matter?

Alternatively, I've read here that chanca piedra is good for dissolving stones. However, I have pretty severe osteoporosis. Would this affect my bones?

Heartfelt thanks, Sue

Hi Sue-I have been doing quite a bit of research on Chanca Piedra, I can't find any side effects other than it may affect blood pressure medicine, according to clinical trials.. All clinical trials and user reviews show no other side effects. It seems like a very healthy supplement.. It is just a natural herb that benefits all types of stones, including gallbladder and kidney stones. I am waiting on an order of veggie caps for myself. I suffer from Chronic Kidney Stones (100 +) in the last 2 years. I hope this helps and Good Luck to you...

Please try it-if u are not on heart meds. Right now u are fortuanate enough to have small stones. The danger of passing stones is that if they become stuck u can perforate your urinary tract (ureter, or develope a UTI or worse.. sepsis-which is a blood infection that can easily and often does develope when the urine flow is blocked and begins to back up ur urinary tract. Sepsis can lead to death within hours and must be treated immediately and aggressively w/antibiotics. Remember that if you get a fever, chills, sweats etc-do not hesitate to go the E.R.!! Upon arrival-make them aware that you have a documented case of multiple kidney stones and are experiencing signs of an infection and possible obstruction. This is considered to be a medical emergency at that point and should be handled as such.

Well folks good news to report. Since posting last evening about taking the Rx of Olive Oil. Lemon Juice, I said I would check in. After taking the substance, I frankly felt nothing and ended up having my one my worst nights. On top of the main issue, I began having anexity over running out of my regular meds, since this was now working on day#6 and really had streached my meds to the fifth day, but in no way did I have medication for day #6 and beyond. The only rational thing was to contact the ER, talk to the doc and hopefully either check me in to the hospital or in at least give more meds.

Then low and behold at 10pm, just after watching the new Breaking Amish show, I got up to pee. Everything was cool but then my stream stopped. I was really like a friggin hack saw inside the shaft of my doodad, then suddenly out shot a rock about half the size of a marble. The pain was pretty bad, but only for about 20 seconds. There was a little blood, not much. I am praying that this was the monster of the deep vein. (Still thought I peed out my grandsons Volkswagon Bug! ) So all in all the lemon and olive oil trick certainly didnt hurt anything at all by trying. I will do it again.

I wanted to share that I did pass the kidney stone after drinking the lemon juice and olive oil. It took about 24 hours and obviously could have passed it anyway. I will say that I fished the stone out and took it to my Dr. who said it was the largest stone he had seen that was passed "naturally". I hope I never will have another, but having them about every 12-15 months for the last 5-6 years, who knows. I will use the juice and oil again if there is a next time.

I found this site a couple of months ago when suffering for the third time with kidney stones. I did not want to go through surgery again. I had just had an ultrasound and had been informed I had two medium (7mm) stones in one kidney and a large one (14mm) in the other.

The consultant told me I'd have to have surgery again and ordered a CT scan, which took place about a month after the the ultrasound. In the meantime, as soon as I read the remedies here, I immediately drank a glass of olive oil and lemon juice. An hour later I felt really ill and almost vomited, so I didn't try it again. Instead I started drinking ACV once a day, and kept this up most days for a few weeks.

Today I saw the consultant about the results of the CT scan, and he told me the stones are gone! There is just a small 2mm stone in one kidney, too small to worry about, he said.

Thank you so much for the remedies, you've saved me from a gruesome op!!

As a note of advice, don't try LJ and OO on an empty stomach! Take it after food only.

Hi Brown Bomber... If the lemon and olive oil isn't working for you, try taking Chanca piedra -- either as a tea drunk at least three times a day or as 1000 mgs capsules taken at mealtimes. CP works to gently but rapidly dissolve both gallstones and kidney stones. It dissolves the calcium in kidney stones for easier excretion.

Chanca piedra is well known in South America. Chanca piedra(Spanish) and Quebra pedra(Portugese) both translate to mean "Breaking Stone".

Pour juice of one freshly squeezed lemon into glass (might be 3 to 7 tablespoonfuls depending on lemon's size). Add olive oil to the glass, between half and the same amount as the lemon juice. Stir it in well, then drink the mixture all at once, no sipping. Now drink a glass of water, 10 to 12 ounces. (A basic vegetable salad dressing is oil and vinegar, but lemon juice here tastes better.)

Do every 15 minutes or half hour, if in strong pain, or 3 times a day during a mild stone event - until you feel the liquid working. You'll feel it at work usually within 5 minutes.

The lemon juice breaks down the stones, the oil lubes your system for pain-free elimination via urinating. It takes 10 to 12 hours to go thru your system. You'll feel it break down the stones, like melting or crumbling away. Be near a bathroom when it's time. The urination feel free flow like a racehorse or young teenager. Totally absolutely routine and painless but looks kind of grayish clear instead of the dark yellow. We've had 7mm stones totally pass during a few urinations over 48 hours. Tho dr exams in ER showed stones of that size, they deny stones were even there, when we told them how we cured it.

Husb always clogs in kidneys due to high calcium in his meds for acid reflux and asthma with alkaseltzer cold cough plus, sudafed, tums. (he gets really ill on ACV, I love the stuff) My stones are always in the urinary tubes. Such relief as you actually feel them break down into nothing. (We also rub lemon rind on chrome sink fixtures to clean them bleach dripping on the porcelain is too caustic, we put lemon rinds in dishpan for easier rinsing of dishes, I sprinkle a pinch of fresh lemon zest under the roses outside where ants often invade.)

Two weeks ago I went to the emergency room because I couldn't go to the bathroom (not a drop). Found out I had a 6mm stone. I had a 5mm stone about two years ago and had to have lithotrypsy. This time almost no pain associated with the stone. I couldn't afford a doctors visit let alone any kind of procedure in the hospital so I started looking for home remedies. I found the olive oil and lemon juice recipe and figured why not? Tried 2oz. of each along with 1tbsp. of Apple Cider Vinegar for good measure two or three times a day. This recipe along with the Flomax prescription I received at the E. R. Took a little over a week but, MAN! , it did the trick! A couple of nights ago all of the sudden I had this sharp, screaming pain while going to the bathroom and felt something pass through and heard a small splash. The pain lasted about two seconds with the pain diminishing over the next two or three minutes with a little discomfort for a day or so and everything has been great since. I whole heartedly recommend this remedy!!

I would keep going with the OO lemon juice and also add in a Tbsp of epsom salt in warm water. Espom relaxes all the ducts and helps release and dissolve the stones. For gall bladder stone pain this works within 30min for me. Make sure you are near a bathroom because the epsom will definitely make you go. Also consider supplementing on a regular basis with magnesium powder, tastes good, not as harsh as epsom, very bio-available and should keep you from getting stones in the future. Apple cider taken for 3 days with nothing else is also said to get rid of kidney stones as well. Some good tips here as well:

Today, in desperation for relief from the pain of a kidney stone, I found this site, and was quickly convinced that it would be worth the try to use the combination of fresh squeezed lemon juice and Extra Virgin Olive Oil to relieve my pain. I had to go to the store which was a challenge in itself, but, bought the ingredients, came home, mixed it up at 1:30, and by 4:30 the pain I've had for 6 days went away. TRY IT! YOU'VE GOT NOTHING TO LOSE, and it will save a trip to the emergency room.

For the past several days I have had severe pain from a 4mm kidney stone in my left kidney. I had a CT Scan that confirmed the stone had moved into the tube between kidney and bladder. My urologist prescribed Vicodin and said it should pass in 2 to 3 weeks. There was absolutely no way that I was going to wait that long so I started researching on line and found this site. After reading the entries, I drove myself the grocery store and bought the Extra Virgin Olive Oil and a bottle of concentrated Lemon Juice and I drank both last night before I went to bed. Around 2:00 AM this morning I had some serious pain as the stone started moving down to my bladder, but the pain passed in about 30 minutes or so. This morning I got up and drank the olive oil, but instead of mixing the lemon juice into it, I made myself a big glass of lemonade with it and stirred in some honey. Big difference in taste and was so good I had two glasses. Around 1:00 PM this afternoon I saw sand like particles in my urine and at 5:00 PM this evening I passed the stone!

I am a believer. I have had stones twice before, once nearly 30 years ago and again just last month. Both were very painful and long duration experiences. I'm sure the lemon juice did help to break up the stone and the olive oil helped ease it out.

It now also makes sense as to why I had the stones in the first place. I'm sure they built up over time as I am prone to them, but for the past six weeks I have been actively losing weight and every morning I have been eating Grapefruit and an orange or two during the day as part of my diet plan. Citric acid, just like from the lemon has been slowly eating away at the stones and they got small enough to move out of my kidneys. At least that is my theory!

In any event, I will not soon forget this recipe for getting rid of kidney stones. Thank you! :)

I would also like to add besides saying this cure works is: You need to start taking it immediately before you get a 100% blockage in one kidney or the other. It is very hard for this remedy to work if you are completely clogged. It will still work but it takes longer and believe me when I say it is a pain like no other, I'm a combat wounded vet not disabled and also have 4 crushed discs in my back and would welcome that kinda pain intraday of a 90-100% kidney blockage!!!!! Once again THANKYOU GOOD PEOPLE AND "EARTHCLINIC. COM"!!!!!! Just this little advice has currently saved me 100-150k in hospital bills. Not to mention the extreme pain and agony.

Have had stones in past and got through them by drinking lots of water. This time stone only moved from back to left side and stabbing pain became unbearable. Found this web page (thank God) and took first dose of 2 oz olive and 2 oz lemon juice, washing down with glass of water, about 9am. Used Ibuprofen and Diazapam (muscle relaxer) to mitigate pain for about 10 hours. Took second dose of olive oil and lemon juice at 9pm.

Slept through the night and woke up and the PAIN was GONE. A little residual ache from stone being in place for so long, but couple of Ibuprofen solved that. Thanks to everyone for this remedy. Keeping oil and juice on hand for next time.

The whole idea behind consuming the olive oil and lemon juice concoction is to remove the abrasive edges of the kidney stone and allow the stones to pass freely via the olive oil.

It would be to your advantage if you were to consume this 2-3 times per day, as I had, so that you can pass your stone quickly.

I passed a stone nearly 9 mm in size in only a fraction of a week.

Like thousands of others, I suffered from very severe pain with kidney stone. From the CT Scan, my doc requested that I should undergo surgery immediately, approx. 6.5mm.

Thanks to this online forum, I adopted all the recommendation from this page: lemon juices, apple cidar vinegar, olive oil, and distilled water. Keep drinking them in combinations all day long for 7 days, using oat meal and organic honey to help relieve bad taste and stomach discomfort.

Doc also prescibes me pain killer, uniary tract antibotics and flomax to help increase the urine flow. I have no fever all along!

Stone finally passed out on the 7th day morning! When I bring it in for analysis, my doc is amazed by the size and my ability to pass.

I cannot tell which remedy is the ultimate solution, but the price I paid from taking all these together are so small compared to having to go to the surgery room.

Since this forum has saved me this Christmas, I just want to share this with the rest! Sincere thanks to the previous posts!

It's 8pm and at 6:45 pm I drank 4 oz. of fresh squeezed lemon juice followed by 4 oz. of extra virgin olive oil, followed by 1 liter of H2O.

My kidney stone pain was at about a 5/10, now it's at a 2/10. This is my second bout with the pesky buggers and a nurse I spoke with on the phone refused to even make me an appointment, rather, she insisted that I come to the emergency room tonight. I can't afford to, so I was planning on coming home and drinking a few beers-which also helped me with my first go round. However, I didn't like the side effects (drunkeness for a light weight like me).

This remedy is AMAZING!! I'm going to have another lemon juice EVOO elixer before bed. Gracias a Dios!

Francisca is on the money here. Apart from Barry Groves' "2nd Opinion" site everyone should read David Gillespie's book "Big Fat Lies" about the evils of sugar [as fructose, not glucose] and polyunsaturated oils and margarines. Fructose is a leading cause of excess uric acid production. Polyunsaturated oils are unstable at room [body] temperature and overwhelm the body's antioxidant defences. Between them they are responsible for the epidemic of "metabolic syndrome" diseases we see today, which have arisen in tandem with the consumption of fructose in sodas and juices and processed foods, etc. There is also the trouble caused by "excitotoxins". Look it up.

I have had kidney stones since I was 26 separated by up to 10 years of symptom free gaps.

I have had lithotripsy once which successfully dissolved a large stone, but left me with high blood pressure [a known side effect] Worse, doing litho on both kidneys together can lead to diabeties!

I have never tried many of the remedies here discussed but as a preventative I drink lemon/lime water every morning, and during the day as well. I have gone 9 years symptom free, but I have some small stones.

I would like to say that my calcium oxalate stones have come out like little rubbery nodules, but go rock hard on drying out. Also I don't believe they dissolve in the body, but what may happen is that the material that causes them to clump into bigger stones may dissolve so the small grains can pass?

Great site, this.

Day three: with the urulogist appointment fast approaching I am amping up the oo/lj combo. Results from last night were similar to the first night: some grit in my pee but no major activity. Today, with no meds, I am relatively pain free... Some minor discomfort but not the level I'd expect from having 6 stones out of my kidneys in ureter. Having to be at work for 11 hours a day, I can't always strain my pee so I don't know if I've passed any or not. Usually I know when they pass though, but without knowing for sure, I'd say I haven't passed anything yet.

So, I just need to relax and monitor how things are in the future.

I'm so glad I decided to give this remedy a try! I was up last night with kidney stone pain. I knew that's what it was as I've had them in the past, and one time I even had to have surgery with basket removal to remove a large one. I am currently BFing my daughter, so the thought of Rx pain meds or surgery was not appealing to me. I ran across this site and the olive oil lemon juice remedy and thought I would give it a try. So... At 4AM I drank 1T OO and 2T cold lemon juice and approx 32 oz water. It was awful tasting, but by 530AM I was asleep with no pain. I'm not sure what it's doing to the stone, but I'm just so happy the pain is gone :). I'll try it again with 2T OO/2T LJ tonight. Thanks again for posting this remedy. I'm so happy I decided to try it!
