I have had chronic kidney stones for over 30 years. I was cranking out so many that the Mayo clinic was studying me. They finally decided I had an overactive parathyroid gland which they surgically removed, and my calcium levels returned to normal. But I kept getting stones... Since I'm very active and don't "need extra calcium for strong bones" I cut out all foods and vitamins with calcium added and it helped.

Over the years I started to notice a pattern of what I had ingested about 6 months earlier that seemed to create stones. I came to the conclusion that Tylenol, and probably other medications were causing the stones. There is a nice little mouse trap. The medication doctors gave me to deal with the pain of the stones were causing more stones... So I cut out ALL medications and I have never been healthier! Its hard to do since we are being constantly bombarded by advertising that says we need all these drugs!

After being talked into a Hep C treatment that I didn't need, I've come to realize that most Doctors are not our friends... They are pharmaceutical drug pushers! One of my truisms of life is don't trust anyone who stands to profit from their own advice! When I had health insurance the Doctors found all kinds of things that needed help. Now that I don't have health insurance I'm very healthy... Funny how that works.

I've come to realize that the medical industrial complex is just another shameful predatory business. By regularly taking "medicine" you inhibit the immune systems ability to heal itself, thus making you dependent, addicted in fact, on taking more drugs. And then the drugs have side effects, requiring more drugs. Have you seriously looked at the side effects of medicines? Its actually much worse than that!

It's the new warfare for profit but has the advantage of slowly bleeding the patients life savings away, and keeping the property intact... If we don't pay the extortion fee of high insurance premiums, we could be driven into bankruptcy... Since we pay these high insurance premiums, we feel like we should be using it, which keeps us unhealthy and entangled in legal drug addiction...

A week ago I started to feel discomfort in my right kidney, and my urine was darker meaning there was probably blood in it, and I was chronically tired. I read many responses here ranging from people passing sand, stone(s) or nothing at all by trying the lemon juice and olive oil method, some taking days and some weeks. I believed it all because no one was trying to sell me anything...

My right kidney was starting to block up when I did the first treatment, but I knew the big pain was coming... For a couple of hours I still felt blocked up, but the next morning felt fine, and by the end of the day my urine was clearer and my energy level got much stronger. I haven't passed any stones or sand yet, which seems to be in the range of what people experience. I do believe the people who did a proper scientific study by doing X rays before and after showing, to the amazement of the doctors, no stones!

It is sad and pathetic to think that I have spent tens of thousands of dollars, and countless hours in pain when such a simple solution works. Don't trust anyone who profits from their own advice. Don't regularly put anything in your mouth that is not food.

How often do you take the lemon juice and the olive oil?

A few months ago, I could tell that I had a kidney stone. I've had one before and recognized the symptoms. With the one before, I went to the ER and over the course of a year, they tried EVERYTHING to get that sucker out. Nothing worked. Thousands of dollars and much anxiety later, they had given up on me and I quit going to the doctor every week. Two or three months later, I finally passed it. This time, however, when I realized what the symptoms were, I turned to Earth Clinic. I followed directions to drink 2 oz. of olive oil and 2 oz. of organic lemon juice. I passed the stone about 2-3 hours later. Thank you, Earth Clinic!!!!!

I realize this has worked for a lot of people, but I now think it is very dangerous. First of all, once you realize you have a kidney stone, remember that you do not know the size of it, where its lodged, or what you're dealing with. That is unless you get scans to find out. I currently do not have health insurance, and so a month ago when I was in the worst main of my life - vomiting, having what felt to be birth contractions, screaming in 10 pain for a month straight. The ER turned me down. Let's not go there as to why. Basically, I live in a small town where the hospital is completely incompetent.. I was on my own to figure out what to do because of nowhere to get help.

I tried the olive oil/lemon method, as I was fairly certain that what I was facing was stones. What happened is it dislodged and re-lodged somewhere else, got stuck, and put me in life-threatening pain. There were mornings I think I left my body, ready to die.. Gray/white as a ghost and unable to get up. After dealing with the incompetence of the ER once, I wasn't going to do it again.. The lemon juice/olive oil made my condition SO MUCH worse.. I simply can't recommend moving something around with oil when you have no idea where it's going to re-lodge or go. It may not always channel out of your body smoothly.

Finally, I read that magnesium was powerful at breaking up calcium-rich stones. After 1-2 weeks of taking magnesium (CALM brand) powder (stirred into 12 ounces of water twice daily), the pain diminished, and finally, a PEA (maybe larger) sized stone was released. More pieces came throughout the week. Now I'm healthier than ever.

USE MAGNESIUM to break up the stone, not Olive oil/lemon juice.

6/16/2017. Excited. Had kidney stone 6 months ago and it cost $1200 out of pocket for two trips to emergency room. It passed with toradol and flomax (I assume because pain stopped for last 6 months). Got those familiar pains again, but I kept the extra toradol and flomax so I couldself treat at home. Toradol pill took 55 minutes to kick in. I like having the toradol available for emergency, but I know that kind of stuff is horrible for your body. So I started the 2 ounces olive oil and 2 ounces lemon juice 3 times a day. Did this for two days. Just passed the kidney stone into a strainer that I kept also. Literally 10 minutes ago. I am so extremely excited that this worked so quickly. Also had zero pain the last two days. And it was obviously moving. Remember I stopped taking the toradol once I started on the olive oil and lemon juice. Thank you to whoever came up with this!!! This was my third stone. I had surgery for the first one because I didn't know much about them. And the taste really isn't great, but not bad. If you mix it good, tastes like salad dressing. And gone in 3 big gulps. Thanks again!!! Awesome!!!

Posting now in the correct spot.

I was in the midst of my 3rd kidney stone. Found out via CT that I had a 2 mm kidney stone high up in my left kidney. I went to the doctor because I was having mild-moderate bladder spasms (which I had experienced only one time before---right after lithotripsy for my first stone of 8 mm in 2002/2003, while I was passing the fragments of the smashed stone for 3 AWFUL WEEKS!! Never will do lithotripsy again!! ). Since then I have had the spasms most of the time, occasional back pain and almost constant tenderness and discomfort in the "female" area. I tried taking Flomax, they put me on Urimat MB (and antispasmodic used for GI issues but has shown to help with bladder spasms too --- and it did help me with mine, but I did not want to stay on it). I took Ibuprofen when I was really uncomfortable, took prescription pain med which did help, but I got some weird reaction 4 hours after taking, so I quit that. Did many hot baths.

This past Sunday night I started to hurt and I mean to HURT. I got on the computer and googled how to get rid of kidney stones and found this site. What a God-send. I am skeptical of natural remedies and as a nurse I understand and value the science of medicine. Um, color me a changed person! I read a few reviews/posts about the lemon juice and olive oil concoction and thought "It can't hurt, I'm pretty desperate, I'll try it".

I took 3 oz. of EVOO and 3 oz. of freshly squeezed lemon oil, poured them into a glass together, pinched my nose and chugged it down. Surpisingly, it did not bother my stomach at all, and I normally can't drink or eat anything "healthy". I went back to reading the reviews, and an hour later was still having a significant amount of pain. I took 600 mg. of Ibuprofen and an hour later (at 1am) my pain had lessened enough and I was tired enough that I went to bed (still in pain).

Woke up 7 hours later and pain was gone. I drank the concoction (but only 2 oz each of EVOO and freshly squeezed lemon juice) that Monday morning and evening. No pain but still no stone. (I had been peeing through a strainer since Sunday afternoon when I started to feel more pain and discomfort). Got up Tuesday morning and even before I looked in my strainer I knew that sucker had passed. It was the FIRST time in 6 weeks I peed and felt no discomfort/tenderness/throbbing/burning upon urination. It felt great! And sure enough, there in the strainer was my stone. I could not believe it. Now, maybe this was a coincidence, but I don't believe in coincidences so I think not. All I know is this: that stone passed easily and I never had any pain after the first downing of the mixture.

I have since purchased the herb Chanca Piedra and will be taking that as a stone preventative but should I end up with another stone, I will immediately begin the lemon juice and EVOO remedy.

To those of you reading this, you have nothing to lose in trying this. I feel for all of those out there suffering with kidney stones and hope you get relief very quickly!

So here I am having suffered from a 5-6mm kidney stone that decided to come visit while my wife and I were celebrating our Anniversary with our first trip to Las Vegas. Needless to say, it was not the 2nd honeymoon we had hoped for. So it started out with a dull pain on my left side but quickly progressed to the worse pain I've ever experienced in my life and put in the ER on Thursday, 09/17/15. I had a notion it was a stone though I had never had one but remembered a conversation with my brother who was sidelined by one. So the ER did their labs, stuck me in a CT scan and my worst fears had come true. I had a 5-6mm stone lodged in the ureter just down from the kidney so it still had a long way to go. They also found another 2mm stone in both kidneys as well.

The Dr prescribed the usual meds of Flomax and Percocet and said you may or may not pass the stone because the size. So I medicated and actually by Wednesday 09/23/15 I had not more pain and had hoped the stone had ran its course.

HOWEVER, Saturday afternoon I started feeling that dull pain in my left side again and by Sunday I was back hugging pillows and soaking in hot baths and back on the meds. So I finally see a Urologist for the first time this past Tuesday (09/29/15) and he says the stone ain't moving and because it's location he will have to remove it the old-fashioned way. So he says you have until Tuesday evening Oct 6th to pass the stone or he's going in Wednesday morning to extract it. So needless to say I start searching the net to research home remedies.

So today I came across the EarthClinic site here and start reading through the blogs. There was so many entries about the Lemon Juice & Olive Oil remedy I have decided to give it a try and pray I can move that stone out by Tuesday evening. I started my first dose of 1/4 cup lemon juice (lj) concentrate and 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil (evoo). The first few sips were OK but the more I stirred it, the thicker it got so I had to finish it off with spoon. Then I chased it with a few bottles of water. I am not looking forward to the next dose but am willing to suffer through it if it will help me pass that stone and stay out of surgery. I have also read quite a few testimonies of an Apple Cider Vinegar regimen on EarthClinic and am going to head to supermarket shortly and get what I need for that remedy as well.

There has been a lot of praise for each of these remedies regarding the relief of pain but not many saying they passed the kidney stone which is my primary goal and reason for giving this a shot. I will keep you posted and let you know if it worked for me or not. And I'll take any prayers you want to throw my way as well. Here goes nothing....

Life Changing - Olive Oil and Lemon Juice

This WORKS. One member of my family has struggled with kidney stones for years, making stones too large to pass and requiring outpatient surgery. After another expensive ER visit and CT scan, we decided to try the olive oil and fresh lemon juice remedy. What an amazing result! Whisked between 1 or 2 oz each together and chased with a tall glass of water. He only had to drink it once to pass the stone without pain! Since we stared this remedy, he has never been to the hospital again. Life changing.

Ps we recommend using a "grassier" olive oil vs "fruitier" one to make the mixture easier to drink. Makes it tart and refreshing vs tasting like goopy salad dressing.

Lemon Juice and Olive Oil Remedy for Kidney Stones:

This is working for my husband with a variation made necessary by a weak stomach. We tried the full dose of 2 oz each (lemon and olive oil) followed by a bottle of water and it was all quickly brought back up.

I switched tactics and broke the cocktail into 8 doses of 1/2 TB (1/4 oz) each lemon juice and olive oil, given every half hour for four hours. This was followed by about 1 cup of water so that the total amount of water drank was almost 2 liters in the end.

Of course, the pain took quite a bit longer to go away - it didn't go away completely until the 7th dose - but it did eventually go away and we're encouraged by that.

There's no sign of a stone yet but there's also no pain so, we're watching and waiting and grateful for the relief!

Dear Chris,

I don't think you can stop stones from moving. I would be concerned that the stone could get stuck in a ureter. You don't want that to happen. The OO would provide the lubricant to help it slide out.

I did not know I had a kidney stone until I passed it. It was so large it ripped one of my ureters. You won't forget that pain. It won't necessarily be pain "down there" it will be more in your back. I thought I was in pain because of an old injury to my spine until it "gushed" out. I am female so it might be different for a man. It was not until I was examined by a urologist did I find out what had happened.

I had been eating a lot of spinach for the calcium but not getting enough magnesium. Taking magnesium with every meal may help you avoid stones in the future. I have a Nutrition Almanac that reports "the oxalic acid in foods like spinach and phytic acid in cereals bind magnesium, preventing absorption." You should Google for a list of foods high in oxalates. Beer, beans and chocolate are just a few.

I am a 58 year old male who has suffered kidney stones now and then (too many times) It was kidney stones that brought me to Earthclinic. Last night, in the middle of the night I was awakened by that terrible feeling of pain that would not go away. Reluctantly I forced my self awake and back to Earthclinic to be sure of the dose, 2 oz lemon juice (fresh since I had it on hand) and 2 oz olive oil.

I forced myself to drink it all. I also took 3 ibuprofen in hopes of dulling the pain. Struggled on for another hour or so, trying to find a comfortable position and feeling nauseous. Finally, the nausea forced my to throw up. Thankfully, after the purge, the kidney stone pain dissipated, later that night I peed and found a small stone, the next morning a bigger stone came out. When I touched them they immediately dissolved. Thank you Earth Clinic.

Dear Anon,

I really don't know the answer to that but I think it is not worth the risk of getting a stone stuck, especially in the male urethra. I'm only going by posts here on EC and my experience when I was in excruciating pain and thought my kidneys were shutting down. On ingestion the pain subsided and I was able to void. On follow up doses when I have eaten too much spinach, I have used one TBS of olive oil with the LJ and that seemed to work okay but prevention is best...getting enough of a good brand of magnesium has proven beneficial.

I have recently learned one brand of magnesium has added an additional calcium filler that had been contributing to arthritis pain in my hands, feet, neck and spine. I thought I had found a safe vitamin C powder...the fillers in that was also contributing to the pain.

Because everyone eats different, everyone tolerates ingredients differently. All brands are not safe for everyone. By the piecemeal process of elimination for over two decades I have learned this. Our food supply has been engineered to last longer making assimilation difficult (Food, Inc.). This affects the binders and fillers of our medicine/supplements.

Thank God for this site.. This is the ONLY thing that would help my boyfriend who was in excruciating kidney stone pain.. He is super skeptical about "natural cures" but I swear by them.. After being in the worst pain of his life for about a half hour he decided to take a shot of this concoction that I found on Earthclinic ..

combined a half a lemon with 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and within 20 minutes his pain was greatly reduced..

He repeated this 2-3 times every hour or so.. And felt almost no pain when he passed the stone..

"Urologist ... will be pissed..." I like that!

I'm in the midst of trying to pass a kidney stone on my left side. So far the lemon juice/olive oil has successfully eliminated the pain I've been living with for five days before I figured out what was causing it. I've had this left side pain twice before in years past, but it went away on its own. This time it's not going away, at least until I tried the remedies here. I'm looking forward to passing the little troublemaker.

The clues keep adding up - My vitamin D intake is intentionally high, grapefruit season is here, I've been eating almonds and drinking more caffeine than usual, all behaviors that are suspected in the growth of kidney stones. My throbbing side is telling me it's time to keep an eye on these behaviors.

I love this site, it has saved my life repeatedly and kept me far away from toxic pharmaceuticals, scalpel wounds and radiation burns.

I have had difficulties with kidney stones for the past 10 years. I had to undergo emergency surgery 3 months ago to have a .8mm stone removed from my ureter. I recently had lithotripsy on one of my kidneys. I have passed some very small stones, but I felt the painful presence of at least one stone stuck in my bladder. After about 2 weeks of it floating around and periodically jabbing me, I finally relented and tried the olive oil and lemon juice remedy, which I had successfully used in the past. But, I was not certain if it truly worked or was just coincidence. Now I am convinced!!! IT WORKS!!!!!!! Within 4 hours of drinking the remedy I passed not one, but THREE kidney stones of increasing size. THANK YOU FOR THIS WEBSITE AND POSTINGS!

Lemon Juice and Olive Oil: Found this remedy to help my Mother. It really does work! Her pain was excruciating with blood in her urine. I believe it had reached her urethra by this point and searched for a remedy to help her. This recipe actually works and I am amazed! She passed the stone within a few hours. Her pain level is now around a 6 with no meds and only on her right side now. We think she may have another. She has definitely improved within a few hours of drinking it. The concotion doesn't taste half bad either. After all isn't this recipe used in salad dressing? Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone for posting your experience and advice regarding this recipe. We believe she will recover soon with your help.

Had a kidney stone with episodic severe pain for approximately 30 hours with nothing to suggest the stone was moving. Heard about the lemon juice/olive oil treatment and took my first dose; 2 oz of each mixed together.

Within 40 minutes, the pain came back with a vengeance but it was different as the stone was moving.

3 hours later I was nearly pain free and 3 days later and still no pain.

Barbara, I'm sorry that is a really large stone! The one I had lithotripsy for was 8mm. Will never do lithotripsy again as I stated before.

I am skeptical you will be able to pass your stone naturally due to the size---but that is only MY opinion. I think if it was me I would try the lemon juice/olive oil concoction for a bit, PROVIDED there was no pain. I would encourage you to read the other threads on here because I THINK I read of some folks passing some stones about the size of yours (or close to that size) but I'm not certain. Please don't take anything I say as a recommended course of action---these are just my thoughts. Hang in there and good luck!!

HI U DAVE,,,,,,,,, I first learned of this trick at the last paper mill before I retired. Folks there drank apple juice for a week before they did the olive oil and lemon juice thing. Supposedly the apple juice caused the stones to crumble so they would pass. This protocol will work for kidney, liver or gall stones.

We have done this many times to prevent the problems you describe. Now we do this yearly and only get what is called gravel. As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
