Of interest for COPD and Pulmonary Fibrosis

If you've read posts on EC for any length of time, you are probably aware of how common these two diseases are and how hard they are to treat as they are mentioned often on EC.

This very recent study suggests that pine bark extract (PBE) has activity against both health issues. PBE is one of my favorite supplements and is well noted for its antiinflammatory effects, but studies continue to show other potential health benefits associated with the use of PBE and clearly, it appears that PBE is useful for helping to ameliorate fibrosis in multiple areas of the body and is worthy of being on a list of potential supplements for these two dieases. It is often useful to have a "list" of potential supplements that may be useful in trying to treat a specific disease, because often times a supplement that works well for one person may not do as well for someone else or perhaps that person is not able to tolerate it, so having a "list of options" may offer similar help from another supplement........especially for diseases that are known to be difficult to treat.

Looks like you need to back up and try preventing any possible causes to your copd like bad indoor air. Additional air purification will help. I use a neg ion/ozone unit purchased from EBay in addition to a Honeywell HEPA Type.

Interested in hearing theories on this. Ted maintains that Dmso has the potential to dissolve tar in the lungs. Recent studies with lab rats have found that using a retin A substance injected into the rats allowed them to regenerate new alveoli and cured them of induced emphysema. Since we know that dmso penetrates the skin directly, what might be the potential of mixing 2% retin A (tretinoin) into a 50% dmso gel and using this transdermally on the chest. Any thoughts on this?

Dilute it more - you should not be feeling a burning. You may just be super sensitive and need to start out with a very dilute mixture. And make certain it's food grade that you are working with

definitely 3 %. I don't feel that this message is clear enough to readers, so I want to say for all readers - 35% H2O2 will burn a hole in your skin - that means it will perforate your throat, larynx and lungs. NEVER TOUCH 35% HYDROGEN PEROXIDE. Wear gloves when mixing it with distilled water - one part H2O2 to 11 parts distilled water.

I use dmso 50% gel ( it contains aloe vera) on chest at night. no idea if it is working, but staying with it. Yes, it stings the skin slightly - mostly makes the skin itchy. Certainly can be diluted with more aloe vera to avoid the itch.

Homemade Vicks helping lung congestion & capacity

Just thought I'd post our results on using homemade Vicks on family member's lung congestion and capacity. Inspired from this site when my kids were sick and I was using the petroleum Vicks, I made some using Olive oil, cocoa butter (to thicken), and essentials oils eucalyptus, peppermint, clove, lemon, spearmint and nutmeg. It helped the children then had my in laws come to stay. Mother in law has been told she has one and a half lungs only due to illness. To walk from bed to bathroom she would be out of breath. Also on the plane over they had to give her oxygen.

To my Vicks Brew I added several drops of pre diluted oregano oil and we applied this front and back of her lungs at night. Also in the cool mist vaporiser I fill with water ( it only takes about 350 mls) I add 7 drops lemon eo, 10 drops peppermint eo and about 16 drops eucalyptus eo. She says she can feel the warmth penetrating her chest.

Well after a week she is coughing less and yesterday she went shopping and did not have to stop frequently. I am also instructing her to eat garlic clove twice a day and to her tea turmeric or ginger or clove or cinnamon or cayenne. Actually when I make it I use all of this combination. I know if she were to inhale h202 she would be healed much faster but I need to give something she can emulate back home. I am now preparing a jar of my concoction she can take back with her. Hope this helps someone else who wants to ease into natural remedies.

Dehumidifier

Dear Maureen,

This is wonderful! I am so happy you have found this solution.

It makes me think about people who move to desert areas to improve their health. Perhaps a similar cure, but you didn't have to move. Just use a dehumidifier. I will be tucking this possible simple solution away for future.

Thank you.

I was diagnosed with COPD in the summer of 2013 having suffered with constant coughing both day and night for about 6 months prior. I was unable to lie down in bed to sleep and had to sit upright propped-up with pillows so that I could at least get a little relief. Even so I was lucky if I could get more than a couple of hours sleep a night.

Having been issued with a Spiriva powder inhaler and a Ventolin Evohaler, after attending a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme at my local hospital and being given advice on how best to manage the condition I had to get on with the rest of my life as best as I could.

Despite taking the prescribed medications as directed they gave me little relief and each day became more of a struggle to combat the illness.

Then at the beginning of December 2015, with my condition rapidly deteriorating, I began to search the Web in earnest to try and find some answers to my problems.

To cut a long story short something steered me in the direction of purchasing a home dehumidifier with a built in charcoal filter and ioniser.

Living in the UK, as I do, we can get very high levels of moisture in our homes due to the excessive amounts of rain that we get.

This can basically fill the lungs with water from the atmosphere and I was coughing up excessive amounts of watery phlegm on an hourly basis.

The humidity level inside your home should be in the range of 40 – 65 (on a scale of 100) and, having purchased a cheap humidity gauge, I found that the levels in my home were reading a massive 85.

So I went online and purchased a dehumidifier which could remove about 10-12 litres of water a day from the air in your home.

It arrived about a week before Christmas and when I set it running it was giving a reading around 85 and, running it for just 12 hours a day, it was removing 2-3 litres of water from the atmosphere on a daily basis and the humidity level reading was gradually getting lower.

After 4 weeks of use the humidity level is now down to between 45 & 50 and the level of water that it is removing is getting less and less everyday.

My home was not showing any signs of having these high levels (such as mould on walls & ceilings, windows running with damp etc.) but I still had very high levels just the same.

My condition has improved in leaps and bounds over those 4 – 5 weeks and I now find that I am no longer coughing day and night, in fact I hardly cough at all now, and I no longer need to use the Ventolin Evohaler.

I am able to sleep at night now and my mental health, (I was getting very depressed and may I also say verging on suicidal?), is also starting to improve as my health gets better.

So the question is did I have or not have COPD? I don't really know, but I do know that my health has started to improve now (although I feel that some damage has been caused to my lungs because of all the years of coughing) and I am looking forward to a healthier life.

The doctors didn't seem to be able to help me – the answer to my problems was the dehumidifier and, although it might not be the answer for everyone, it could possibly be the answer for you too.

So, in conclusion, I offer this advice to those suffering with this dreadful condition.

(1) - Go online and get a humidity gauge.

(2) – Use it throughout the home for a week and see what readings you're getting.

(3) – If you find that you are getting high readings get yourself a dehumidifier.

I CAN'T GUARANTEE IT BUT IT WORKED FOR ME – IT COULD ALSO WORK FOR YOU SURE IT WELL WITH FAITH

I was diagnosed with copd in 2012. I am 56 and have smoked since I was 16. I now take advair, a rescue inhaler, nebulized albuterol and am on continuous 2L of oxygen 24/7. Its been a long time since I've had a good breath. I discovered this site about 3 or 4 months ago and decided to try the dmso, msm and colloidal silver.

First I put 1/2 teaspoon of dmso mixed with 1/2 teaspoon of distilled water in the nebulizer and just held it in front of my face. This is some strong stuff. I don't think I put the mouthpiece directly in my mouth but I did pull some in my lungs via my mouth. I survived that.

Next I nebulized 1/2 teaspoonful of colloidal silver. This went smooth. About 2 or 3 hours later I started trying to clear my throat. I hacked around for a few minutes and just a small amount of yellow looking junk came up. I then took a dose of advair and I think some of it actually got to my lungs because before I don't think the advair was making it pass the back of my tongue. I did this like 2 days ago. I did Not do any yesterday or today. Today I just did the silver only.

I pulled the oxygen hose off for about 4 or 5 hours. I did get up and went slowly to the bathroom but while getting out of breath a little bit I did not get breathless. Tomorrow I will do the dmso again. I will pull a little more in my lungs. I will do the silver again. same dosages, and I also will put 1 teaspoonful of msm in a bottle of drinking water to drink.

For the last 2 days I have also been taking 1 morning probiotic capsule daily, 2 turmeric capsules daily, 1 vitamin c daily, 2 500mg Coq 10 tablets. This is the best I have felt in at least 3 or 4 years that I remember. It has been almost a year since I've left my home. I have a great husband. I have an even greater God who has led me on this path, because before I started healing myself physically, I made sure I was healed spiritually. I would recommend any spiritual healing before the physical.

I love you all. Take care. Breathe good.

Pamela:

1. Dilute it. Even a lot.

2. Breathe in deeply.

3. Good results come with time.

4. Use other methods, like putting a squirt into a humidifier at night. Or a nebulizer.

Hi Pamela. Sorry to hear that you have run into problems with using H202. I suspect though, that you could be using the wrong kind of Peroxide. You mentioned that you purchased 3% peroxide called Gold Cross which sounds like a chemist/pharmacy bought product to me which is the wrong king.

The pharmacy bought product will contain what is called stabilizers, added chemicals! These you do not need. The Peroxide that you should be using is 35% food grade with no stabilizers and this you will dilute down to 3% and then you can inhale or drink in this form. Do not use in the 35% form, always dilute. In Australia there are many sites online that you can buy the 35% food grade H202, so search out one of these and when you receive your bottle keep it in the freezer to retain the potency. This should not burn your throat, a bleach type taste is normal, and you certainly will notice changes in your condition. So keep the gold cross for other purposes. All the best.

Hi, I've had COPD for years and these last months have been buggers.I've been fighting with pneumonia alot. After the hospitals and doctors, I decided to try naturally heal myself with vitamin supplements and minerals, acv, h2o2, etc..Well 4 days ago, after reading everything I could on DMSO, I decided to try drinking it. I took 1/4 capful with 1,000 mg MSM and orange juice. Within seconds of taking it, I could BREATHE! Then came the sinuses, they opened right up.I also felt it going thru my body. Where they removed my lung, I felt a twinge of pain. Just a twinge. Then in other areas I felt it.

Anyhoo, I've been taking it about every12 hours (as it starts wearing off) and I've worked up to a capful. My breathing has never been better. I don't need my inhalers so much and haven't had much wheezing. I've had some though I am so thankful for this sight starting me on naturally treating my body, without all the poisons. I never would have found the dmso for my COPD. My pulse ox is 98 and holding!

My mom is 85 and has asthma and copd for 20 years now. Both started getting worse the last couple years and I could tell the docs couldn't or wouldn't do much to help her. I discovered in my research on youtube that peppermint tea and organic raw honey when drunk daily will clear mucus from lungs. She started using these two simple remedies 6 months ago & her doc told her after 4 months of drinking this that her lungs were clear of mucus. For the first time in years, she (doc) heard no wheezing or rattling noise.

My mom drinks a cup in the morning and later in the day. Whenever she feels like a cold or something is coming on, she doubles the tea bags and honey for safe measures, and so far, praise God, it seems to help war off intruders.

Hello all COPD sufferers.

A few months ago I started using moringa leaves and dandelion roots boiled in water and drank as a tea, twice a day. Twice a day as well as I was having the tea, I would have five apricot kernels. I also started eating the raw moringa leaves in sandwiches or in salads. Having suffered with COPD since diagnosed in 2006, I had reached the point where I would tire easily even while doing simple household chores. By the way I have never been a smoker. I have used all the medications including Spiriva, Symbicort, Prednisolone, Pulmicort, Antibiotics, Ventolin both the nebulising solution and inhaler.

I can now go to the gym and exercise and do all the household chores without tiring easily. I am also off of the Oxygen. I still stay away from milk (to avoid the buildup of mucus) and still occasionally take the Symbicort and Spiriva. As a matter of fact, they even last me longer than the regular month or two. I think this has been a Godsent remedy my daughter decided to give me one day. When I asked her what made her do this, she replied that she had been praying diligently asking God for a cure for me, having seen what I was going through.

Thank you so much for your reply. Just checked out the Amazon sight and it looks really promising. Hi Klaserie.

Good to read that you had no problem finding FGH2O2 in South Africa. I am in Australia but will be locating to India, and will stay there for some time.

I have been doing H2O2 therapy (oral) for COPD for one year now, with very good results and want to continue. Unfortunately I have had no luck finding FGH2O2 on any website in India. I have contacted a couple of companies in South Africa who can ship FGH2O2 to India, but the only problem is that the minimum order they will supply is 1,000 liter's. which is huge!

So my question is if you know any suppliers in S.A who I could contact, with the view of being able to purchase a reasonable quantity, in perhaps a few liter's.

All the best Klaserie

Geoff.

I did know that 35% FG H2O2 was not available in the U K without a license, or other documentation, But a jail term, how backward thinking is that! I have been using the H2O2 therapy for twelve months now for COPD, with wonderful results. A few months back I signed up on a British lung forum where many people suffered from COPD. I related my experiences with H2O2 Therapy, The negative responces some bordering on the hostile, almost branding me a crank and a liar convinced me that the British have quite a long way to go before they see the light! I never returned to that site.

To Start with, the UK has put a ban on 35% Food Grade H2O2, with a two year prison sentence if you are found in possession. You can only purchase the 35% FGH2O2 with a government license.

On visiting South Africa, I freely bought it and the distilled water to take the dosage as laid down in Bill's book. I managed to get as far as 22 drops in 12 fl.ozs (UK) of distilled water. That was on day 14 of the schedule. I had to quit as I kept throwing up, later I found out why, it is very hard to know when your stomach is completely empty, because at this high dose, the stomach must be completely empty. However not to be put off completely, I reduced the 35% down to 3% with distilled water 11 to 1 total 12, 11 being distilled water and 1 the 3%.

I am using an altrasonic nebulizer ( Beurer IH 40 ). The best thing I ever bought, it is almost silent, so it can be used at night without disturbing your partner. My oxygen transfer reading had dropped from 98 to 95 in less than 6 months, before I started the inhaling treatment. I am pleased to say that my readings have improved back to 98/99. I started the treatment with 10 minutes 3 times a day, for 10 days, then I increased the time to 15 minutes 3 times day, for 10 days, I am now on 15 minutes 4 times a day.

I have informed my doctor and COPD nurse of my actions, they were both astonished when I presented the benefits of FG H2O2.They had no answer to my actions. I told them I had stopped taking my inhalers, I don't need them. I will continue until August 2016, then I will have a comparison check up of January 2016. I have read most of the comments here on this site. I sleep up to 10 hours without any problem, and get up at 6 am twice a week to go fishing, I can still lug my fishing gear around, although I do get out of breathe, however my recovery time is getting better by the week.

Better But With Side Effects

I have sung the praises of hydrogen peroxide for years. It literally cured me of COPD. Everything good you read about it is true.

However, this one little matter: I began to have a black tongue and have had it now for some years. I wrote in here at the time I was helped with the COPD that I did seem have a black tongue and no answer for it, but I said "if that's all I have to pay for the cure, fine by me." But all these years later, I got the answer. It's the peroxide. It affects some people that way. So I'm back to what I said years ago - "If my only problem is black tongue, but cured otherwise....fine by me."

HI U KEVIN,,,,,,,,,,, I don't think your problem is store bought 3 % H2O2 as our idol, Bill Munro used this for some 20+ years and died at age 89. However, he did not use a nebulizer. Most folks find that about 1 1/2% is all they can stand using a nebulizer. That is also my experience, after I used Bill's 3 % technique for several years.

Hope this sheds some light on your dilemma.

In regards to taking Hydrogen Peroxide, I made the bad mistake of using it from the 3% at my local drug store which contains bad solvents and used that for my Asthma in my nebulizer machine a few years ago...After a couple of weeks, I could hardly walk and have been on my machine and taking Steroids daily ever since...I have been on antibiotics several times in the last year and as soon as they wear off, I'm feeling bad again...I now think I have COPD...So don't use DRUG store stuff...Make sure it's food grade...I'm a 61 year old male in Canada, thanks.

I posted on 02/15 a warning about using h2o2 too aggressively for copd. I waited a year before trying it again. I used the Bill Munro method as well as in nebulizer. I nebulized about 3 mins about 3 times a day. I used nasal sprayer in throat about every 4 hours, 10 sprays. Three days later...Same as before. Oxygen level dropped rapidly. Albuterol in nebulizer did nothing. Blacked out before ambulance got here. Woke up 3 1/2 days later on a ventilator.

They tried for 3 days to get me to breath on my own. Needless to say it really put a scare in my family. I am 56 yr and smoked for over 30 yrs. I had such high hopes for the h2o2 use because I think I read ALL the testimonials. Of coarse when I first mentioned this to my pulmonary doctor he said "why would you want to put bleach in your body". I believed the folks on EC anyway. The only thing I can think of is that I did loosen up tar or whatever else smoking put on my lungs. I will still take advice as to what to do. I am happy for the ones it has helped.

Hi to you all I suffered with copd for eight years, six really bad ones.

However by chance - long story - I took some vitamin b12 and within 48 hours or so my symptoms had disappeared.

The tightness in my chest and the excruciating agony of breathing has gone.

Breathlessness is a symptom of vitamin b12 deficiency, pernicious anemia is a serious deficiency. Obviously I have some way to go with my breath as not being able to breathe for six years does take its toll - I get out if breath still but not breathless. So complete recovery could take a while I should think I am still only recently recovered I am no expert but I don't know if it will help all copd cases as they are many different causes - its worth a try.

As for the dosage well I used cherry flavored methyl b12 and just took four or five a day.

Vit b12 is a water based vitamin and the French firemen are given it before going to a fire to protect their lungs.

Good luck to you all

Thanks for looking.

Just lately I've heard of treatments with cell food and also H2O2 all have been from American and Canadian sufferers, and web sites, I'd like to hear from anyone especially Aussies in Victoria Gippsland region who have tried either of these two methods and what sort of results they've had. From what I have read it is not advisable to heat colloidal/ ionic silver to the point of boiling.

A nebulizer is an appropriate alternative.

Peroxide, Colloidal Silver and Lugol's Iodine Inhalation

I was diagnosed with mild COPD about 3 years ago. I refused all inhalers and told the doctor I would treat myself. I started using Bill Munro's protocol for the hydrogen peroxide. I buy the 3% hydrogen peroxide from WalMart or any supermarket. I put the straight peroxide in an nasal spray that has been emptied of its contents and rinsed really good in hot water. (you can also buy empty nasal spray bottles from Amazon.)

I also do the same thing with colloidal silver and lugol's iodine 2% solution. The colloidal silver is put straight into the nasal spray bottle but I put 2 drops of silver into water that I put first in the nasal spray bottle. I now have 3 nasal spray bottles,

1. with 3% peroxide
2. with colloidal silver and
3. with lugol's iodine 2 drops in water.

I use these throughout the day whenever I feel mucous and congestion building up and 1 hour before bed to clear up any mucous before bed. I also use p73 extra strength oregano oil. I put 6 drops in a empty gel capsule or just put 6 drops under the tongue. This acts as a natural antibiotic that clears up any infection or viruses. I use this two weeks on two weeks off or however you feel.

I no longer have any problem getting mucus up can walk over a mile without any breathing problems. I know that the copd is still there but it just dosen't bother me. The last time I went to the doctor he had me cough and listened to my breathing but didn't comment on the copd. The year before he insisted I take the inhalers.

Just had to share with you. It has been at least 3 years I have been doing this and I have not gotten any worse. The best to you all, Yolanda

P.S.. I forgot to tell you I do use them all at the same time. Took a while to do that doesn't seem to hurt. Sometimes I take one then later take another. Just try it.
