I struggled with sinus infections for years. Many antibiotics later, I had sinus surgery (they basicly scraped out my sinus membrane to allow a new healthy one to grow back). Unfortunatly, because I had taken so many antibiotics for the issue, fungus had taken hold in my body -this, I did not find out about until several years later. So for two years following my sinus surgery, I experienced a "smell" inside my sinus that smelled like old trash (as I reflect on it, it was a sweet stink much like you would smell from a trash can at the circus or carnival). I was cured of the sinus infections, yet emotionally miserable (I contemplated suicide because I was smelling trash 24 hours a day). I kept going to doctors, even an infectious disease Dr. and they kept putting me on more ANTIBIOTICS!!!
At this time I was also having some hormonal issues so I went to a Dr. that perscribed natural hormones and put me on a wheat and sugar free diet for two months. It worked wonders for my hormones as well as my sinus "stink". However, several years later, the stink came back and I did not have the discipline to follow the diet again. One day, shortly after the "stink" came back I blew my nose and a big BLACK CHUNK of something came out. Luckily I was able to save it in a sterile container that my Dr. had given me at an earlier date. I took it to my Dr. and she had it tested. It took about a month and a half for the specimen to grow. However, the wait was worth it... It was CANDIDA ALBICANS. (Note that it is very difficult to test positive for Candida Albicans because it is rare to get a good sample.. Most people do not just happen to blow a good sample out of their nose like I did! ) Fungus or yeast had been growing in my sinuses because of all the antibiotics I had taken. This makes sence why the wheat and sugar free diet worked.
After the diagnosis of candida, I began nasel washes with probiotics in my nasel wash solution of 2 parts salt to 1 part baking soda (about a quarter to a half teaspoon to a cup of warm water). I also added lavendar essential oil to the baking soda and salt (before adding it to water... I would mix up about a half cup of the b soda and salt and add two drops of Lavendar eo. - it is important to note that you should not use regular table salt... It has anticaking additives, use pickeling salt). I also took extra B vitamines. Lavendar and B3 are great antifungals (see the following links). Turns out that many cronic sinus infections were fungal related as studies are showing that most are...

Hi Possible Candida Suffer from Chicago... When I discovered that I had candida I had just moved to the Philippines, and so my diet changed anyway -- becoming more rice and fruit based. I only ever eat two meals a day, breakfast and diner, and have no problem with this. I eat no desserts and dislike sweet things. I don't eat junk food or drink much soda pop. I don't eat much red meat -- maybe a steak once a month now. My breakfast is large and fresh fruit based and my diner at night is quite small, like a snack really. But this is just me. Any candida sufferer must adopt a diet of their own choice and stick to it. This is a must and is all about breaking the bad dietary habits of a lifetime which has helped to promote and cause the candida in the first place. The best way is to avoid certain foods and products:
1. Absolutely NO SUGAR. No ifs or buts here -- if you really want to get rid of candida -- it starts here, this is a must!!
2. No junk food allowed.
3. No vegetable oil in the diet. Vegetable oil oxidises fairly quickly on the shelf and very rapidly at high heat. Most vegetable oils are also now made from an unnatural chemical process. Better to use virgin coconut oil for cooking -- this is a very stable oil that is very good for you. When I had candida and started taking coconut oil, my bad constipation and bloating issues disappeared in about two weeks. VCO is very healthy for your body and intestines. I only cook with VCO now and VCO has actually helped me to lose weight.
4. No soda pop. Apart from the sugar, soda drinks also contain carbonic and phosophoric acids -- all of which acidifies your body and encourages candida.
5. Eat only white meat like chicken or fish in small amounts and avoid red all meats.
6. No baking products like bread, cakes pastries etc. In the 70s or 80s the FDA, in the wisdom, allowed the use of bromide and bromates in bread-making and baking instead of iodine. Bromine weakens the immune system and also encourages candida growth. Strangely but happily, I recently learnt that bromides and bromates used in baking in the Philipines have always been banned. Well go figure...
7. No canned products in the diet. Bisphenol A -- or BPA -- is contained in all plastic linings of canned products and is very bad for you. Upsets hormone balance and weakens the immune system.
8. No Calcium which means no dairy products -- no milk, cheese, yoghurt etc. Avoid calcium fortified foods. Excess calcium encourages acidity and thereby aids the spread of candida.
9. No Monosodium Glutamate(MSG) allowed. This means that all soy products made from a chemical process -- including soy sauce, tofu etc. Are not allowed. Avoid all products with added MSG. But any soy products made from the natural fermentation process are OK and allowed in small amounts.
10. Avoid distilled water and tap-water. Distilled water is "dead water" -- it completely lacks any important body minerals that natural spring-water contains. Tap-water nowadays -- due to water shortages -- is now re-cycled and chemically processed from sewage(especially in cities), so Lord only knows what evil goodies tap-water contains. Enough said I think. Drink fresh mineral or spring water or create your own mineral water instead.
11. Try and avoid all (chemically) processed food if you can. Try and eat foods that are made from natural processes without excess heating or use of chemicals/pesticides.
12. When you eat food, don't always rush and over-stuff yourself, as this leads to poor, inefficient digestion and acid intestines. There is always a lag from when you feel hungry to when you are satisfied but if you eat too fast, this is not good for you. Eat your food slower and drink plenty of water at mealtimes for proper digestion. The Chinese -- and Okinawans -- normally eat until they feel 70-80% full, then they stop. This is also good simple dietary practice.
All the above precautions are purely to encourage a healthy body and to create an environment that is very bad for candida. Of course this diet must be adopted as well as Ted's anti-candida protocols for complete success to be assured against systemic candida.

Hi Luda...Thanks for your comments. Regarding my own Candida problem, I managed to get rid of it completely about 11 years ago and it has never returned. Many people have the same problems as you -- they just cannot get rid of their candida. Or if they do, like you, it always suddenly comes back. This is really why it's so difficult to get rid of Candida because, for many people, it just keeps coming back and they can't understand it -- in other words, you never really got rid of all your candida in the first place because it was just hiding somewhere in your body waiting to reinfect you.

The reason that people with candida problems seem to fail so often is perhaps because either they don't take the protocol properly or they cheat and eat sugar and carbohydrates when they shouldn't or they come off the protocol too soon because they think they are cured when candida is a still hiding safely somewhere in their body just waiting to pounce. They might also suddenly agree to be put on anti-biotics for other issues for a while by their doctor -- doing this is one of the major causes of serious candida issues. Taking anti-biotics is probably the worst thing you can do because it basically destroys all the good protective bacteria in your gut which now has no local immune defence, so the candida has free reign to suddenly rise up and dominate and will spread throughout your body very rapidly.
Lastly I would be the first to admit that it's very difficult for people to cure themselves with any anti-candida protocol because they really must take their protocol properly -- as stated -- or it won't work that well. This means that if you want to rid yourself of systemic candida issues then you really must be highly focused and have the willpower to do it.
Your dizziness and fogginess could be due to candida poisons or it could be due to an existing hypothyroid condition or it could be both. Best to get your thyroid checked and, when you do, you should insist that your doctor also check the levels of your Free T3 (triiodothyronine) levels which gives the most accurate result for the thyroid. If you just check Free T4(thyroxine), as doctors normally do, you stand a good chance of getting an inaccurate thyroid assessment. See this link for more information on the thyroid.
Lastly, it took me a whole year to cure my own systemic candida issues all those years ago. I actually thought I was cured after six months but I still stayed on the protocol for an extra six months to make absolutely sure because I knew that candida could hide. And when I say that I'm cured I mean that my systemic candida is gone. I can eat whatever I like -- including wheat, oats and milk as well as fruit and sugary foods now and then, without any issues. I also have no asthma or digestive problems or allergies(which can all be strong indicators for existing or latent candida issues).
Regarding turmeric and body odor when taking it:
I rescued an Akita, very ill and stressed. I added turmeric powder to his sardines and rice daily. He started to smell like cat pee. Didn't put it together until I read on an animal natural health blog that that odor is from ingesting turmeric, and the solution is to add cinnamon. It worked for Rocky. He is so healthy now and smells great. Vet is amazed at the transformation.
When using hydrogen peroxide, please make sure to be eating a diet high in anti-oxidant foods. (You can check what's called the ORAC value of foods on the internet. Also vitamin E, C, and beta-carotene are high in antioxidants. My favorite edible antioxidant are Goji berries--very high ORAC value. ) Oxygen can be wonderful medicine, but too much of it can also be deadly--especially at the cellular level. Hydrogen peroxide is H2O2, whereas water is H2O. The theory is that the extra O separates from the hydrogen peroxide molecule and oxidizes the yeast killing it. But H2O2 simultaneously interacts with our tissues. When that extra Oxygen atom spins off of the hydrogen peroxide, it becomes what we call a free radical and can damage our tissue. That is why it is so important to follow strict guidelines in using it. The book The One Minute Cure by Cavanaugh has a very conservative dosing schedule which I can recommend. Btw, I am an acupuncturist and homeopath, and have used all of the various remedies recommended on this site with my patients for years. I basically sytematically rotate remedies until I find the one that works for that particular patient. My conclusion is that this has as much to do with the species of Candida, as with the particular patient's gut ecosystem. Best wishes to all!

I had similar lung problems, breathing issues, but also pain. Mine started long before I had any idea I had candida, so I used an inhaler or some sort of systemic med for asthma, though it was not a classic case according to my doctors. It kept it under control, but I could never understand why I developed asthma in my 30s. Twenty years later I had a huge health crisis, part of which was candida. I got off all sugar and yeast, which included most of my bread, ie gluten, and 10 months later my lungs seemed to be better, so got off all of my asthma meds too. I had been taking them 20 years faithfully. That was 7 years ago and still no issued. I believe it was candida in the lungs, as many other symptoms disappeared also, sinus problems, skin issues, etc. Start with your diet first and look on this site for natural antifungals you can add to your diet; especially ACV.
NICINAMIDE HELPS ELIMINATES CANDIDA
Some doctors in Montreal found Niacinamide to be a potent fungal and aspergilla's killer. It basically kills Candida infections/pathogenic fungi. This of course is something genuis Ted already knew. Niacinamide is especially effective against candida. The human equivalent dose was 35 mg and it was only administered only once. A second dose of Niacinamide was given 8 hour later. However, even a single dose was effective. While this dose is on the high end for niacinamide, for most people it would still fall under 3g, which is what mainstream medicine officially considers the upper safety limit for niacinamide. Niacinamide can cure Candida infection with a single dose. I think taking caprylic acid a before to first dissolve biofilm and then take Niacinamide and I also took two a dissolved aspirin in a glass of water and took it with the niacinamide this was a strongly effective way to go after it. Of course the obvious stuff which is be on the anti-fungal diet, helps and expect a die off so do gentle detoxification to assist the body in the process of clearing and healing.

Maybe it's better to go at it more slowly: take less, not more of the ACV and coconut oil.
Also, see what you can do to improve your diet.
Make sure you know the proper protocol and do not go over a certain amt of drops. Maybe your body can only take under 15. I also believe you should not eat within a certain time before and after taking it.
At last some believable independent research from PubMed on the useful action of Virgin Coconut Oil on candida.
I stumbled onto this research paper which duly confirms that a substance called D, L-2-hydroxyisocaproic acid (HICA) will act against candida in the following way: inhibits candida growth; inhibits and reduces biofilm formation; reduces the production of candida waste poisons like acetaldehyde; destroys candida hyphae; inhibits the mutagenicity(cancer forming) of candida waste poisons; reduces inflammation.
In case anyone is wondering what the heck D, L-2-hydroxyisocaproic acid is -- VCO contains caproic acid and D, L-2-hydroxyisocaproic acid is just an isomer of the same.
So what they are really talking about in this research paper is why VCO, which also contains caproic acid, is so hugely beneficial as a natural supplement when you have systemic candida problems. Notably, VCO also contains caprylic acid, lauric acid and myristic acid -- all with additional, wide-acting and significant action across many pathogen species as well.

This is evident in biofilm-associated chronic oral-oesophageal candidosis, which has been shown to be potentially carcinogenic in vivo. We have previously shown that most Candida spp. can produce significant levels of mutagenic acetaldehyde (ACH). ACH is also an important mediator of candidal biofilm formation. We have also reported that D, L-2-hydroxyisocaproic acid (HICA) significantly inhibits planktonic growth of C. albicans. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of HICA on C. albicans biofilm formation and ACH production in vitro. Inhibition of biofilm formation by HICA, analogous control compounds or caspofungin was measured using XTT to measure biofilm metabolic activity and PicoGreen as a marker of biomass. Biofilms were visualised by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). ACH levels were measured by gas chromatography. Transcriptional changes in the genes involved in ACH metabolism were measured using RT-qPCR. I suffered from severe systemic candida albicans for a long time. I visited several naturopaths & tried remedy after remedy. I followed the (VERY) strict diet, & lost almost 30 lbs in 1 1/2 months (which left me at 93 lbs! ) I have a large box of all the different stuff that I have tried that didn't work. I ended up getting a really bad cold & flu after about 7 months on the diet which worked unless I dared take a bite of anything I wasn't supposed to eat. Because I was so sick, I went off all the herbal suplements I was on & started taking garlic (1 clove cut up into little pieces & swallowed), 3 - 4 times per day to stop the terrible cough I had. After about a week, I was starting to feel a little better & was making a pizza for my family & couldn't resist taking a small bite of cheese & sauce (which should have produced itchy reaction within 5 minutes or less). NOTHING! I couldn't believe it! So I had a bite of the pizza including the crust (flour guaranteed a reaction! ) STILL NOTHING! NO REACTION! I ate the whole (small) pizza! NO REACTION!!! After that I went nuts! I ate everything, & if I felt any kind of reaction starting (usually just with very sugary foods), I just take a clove of garlic & within minutes I'm fine!
Update: I was really going overboard on the desserts & started having symptoms coming back, so I have to be reasonable with the sugar intake & I'm also taking a very good probiotic (70,000 billion) (I take 2) which works by far the best of the MANY that I tried) (140 billion) per day which definately helps, as I now eat almost everything!
Hi Wendy, I can only give my experience and observations. Many years ago I tried that theory out because some people I met were doing it and they said they were better for it. What I found was that I was very thirsty and it certainly did not improve my health in fact my eczema got worse and migraines came more often so I stopped. The people I knew who started this appeared to improve in health but all (and I mean everyone of them) did not keep their good health. My belief is that their health initially improved because they also dropped junk food and improved their diet. Most people did not stick with it. The few I knew who did got sick. The 2 that were the reason I gave it a try lived in pain with only minimal sleep and 1 died in their 60s the other lived another 10 years in severe pain till they died. These 2 lovely people started this when they were in their early forties. You should ask the nutritionists that are recommending this for examples of people who have been following this regime for 20 years.
For every clogged ear and nose problems, including runny or puffy nose, the answer is Bill Thompson's protocol: 4 drops of Lugol Iodine in filtered water and rinse your nose if needed twice a day until it is all cleared.

everyone talks about baking soda for yeast, i have found that cream of tarter is a much better for ridding the body of yeast with out die off, 1 teaspoon in a little water 3 times a day, works great. take for at least 5 days.
i have used this for people suffering from rashes, etc. from any yeast related problem. cream of tarter, comes from the making of wine, so it is mostly made from grape skins pulp and seeds. it also does not have the salt of baking soda so is a better choice for high blood pressure. for thrush just swish around in the mouth and swallow. also great for acid reflux.
I am now still in early stages of using H2O2, so am avidly reading the entries for Candida.
For herpes, I was clued into l-lysine some years ago, and it is great. Foods high in L-lysine are listed on the internet, and also foods high in arginine, which is in chocolate, nuts, popcorn, brown rice and other foods. Arginine is used in labs to GROW the Herpes virus, so those chocolate and nut snacks can give you an attack! I have purchased l-lysine over the internet and also at some grocers and health food stores, and just keep it handy. Often when I want to eat some chocolate, I pop some l-lysine soon after and no problem. It is a harmless amino acid and resets the balance in your system.
Candex is very good for Candida but so expensive, I am happily taking the H2O2 and wanted to check increasing the dosage from 8 drops in an 8 oz glass of water 3X a day and here is all this information for me! My Mother and Grandmother died young of breast cancer and I began researching things that cure cancer as I realize the AMA is not chock full of 100% doctors, and found ESSIAC. The herbs can be purchased pre-measured from the Herb Products Company in Hollywood. I am 62, teach yoga and breathing techniques, doing them myself daily and am very healthy!

I am so gratefull for this site. Thank you everyone for the time and effort it takes to do this. I went into menapause about 1.5 years ago. I developed an overgrowth of yeast that ended up breaking out all over my body in different rashes at different times. Nothing would make it go away. I tried silver. I tried creams . I went on 2 week cleanses and nothing worked untill I tried ACV. I read that this would kill yeast so I started to bathe in with a cup of it in my bathwater and i started to take 2 Tbs with 1/2 tbs, Baking soda with a little hot water and a dash of pure apple juice 3 times a day . Within a week, my rash's had cleared up. One more sore broke out the next week but I have been rash free for almost 3 weeks now and I am so gratefull. The Apple cider vinegar is amazing.. I was suffering from candidas overgrowth, and the GP in Sydney couldn't diagnose what's wrong with me..I am suffering with this intolerable illness for seven years. All these years I went for the frantic search for my solution on my constant migraine, constant numbness on my palm and feet, swaying backside, chronic fatigue and other negative symptom. If patient has the yeast Pichia there will be no Candida. Bacteria/Fungus/Yeast all have to live harmoniously together. I just heard this on the Dr Gundry podcast. Hope this may help someone.
Hi Sidney, I was diagnosed with candida overgrowth 3 years ago, mainly the result of taking inhaled corticosteroids for many years for asthma (which I no longer have BTW). Anyway, one of the best things that helped me get a handle on starving and killing it off was hydrogen peroxide therapy, using 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide diluted to a 1 to 11 ratio in distilled water. This therapy really helped clear out the pockets of fungus that kept showing themselves and really helped my body flush out the toxins. The full therapy takes a while to complete, but is very effective. Also I did not have any negative side effects at all.
What I did was put the drops of diluted H2O2 in 8 oz. of juice or tea and drank that every morning and afternoon on an empty stomach. I started with 3 drops and increased it by 1 drop every day until I reached 25 drops. I stayed at that level for 31 days before I started decreasing it by 1 or 2 drops until I reached a level of 15 drops. I stayed at that level for a couple of weeks before I decreased the dose again until I reached 10 drops, stayed at that again for a couple of weeks, and then decreased to 5 drops, and finally back to 3 drops, which I still maintain. To make the diluted solution, put 1 oz. of full strength 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide into a glass container and add 11 oz. of distilled water. This should be stored in the refrigerator. Using an eye-dropper, add the drops to the juice and drink it all at once. Candida is a very persistent and strong parasitic organism and will be fighting for its life once you begin the therapy. If at anytime you experience extreme detoxing symptoms, do not increase the drops until your body stabilizes. If necessary, drop back to the dose you were able to take and stay at that level until you feel able to resume increasing drops.

Aloe vera gel is great for candida because it produces very little die off symptoms in my experience.
About 15 months ago, I had my first breakout with eczema. It was pretty bad, on my hands and face, and of course very uncomfortable. Over the next few months, I went the usual rounds with dermatologists, allergists, and even an acupuncturist. Some days were worse than others, but as eczema sufferers know, some days can be really uncomfortable and embarrassing. At times my hands looked like raw meat. I was determined to figure out the cause and a resolution. After lotions etc did not work, I starting figuring out that it might be diet related. I did a full cleanse for about a month- that is, none of the usual suspects (dairy, gluten, soy, nuts, nightshades, shellfish) and saw a big improvement. But as I started re-introducing foods, the eczema would flare up again. I was really having a hard time figuring out what the triggers were. And then, I stumbled on an article about the relationship between a candida overgrowth and eczema. This time for an elimination diet, I eliminated candida-feeding foods- fruit, sugar, yeast. AND...the result was an almost 100% clear up of my eczema!
What I have learned is that it is not the FOOD that you are eating per se, but how that food contributes to candida overgrowth. So you might be able to have a slice of bread one day and be ok, but at another time it will cause a flare. I am still in the figuring-it-all-out place, but I think that if I limit those foods (not necessarily eliminate all), my eczema seems to stay in check. I must say that I also take 2 tbl. of Apple Cider Vinegar each day as well. I am still a newbie to the candida overgrowth conversation, but if anyone out there is at their wit's end with this problem, it might be worth a shot to read up on it. An added bonus...I have read about the relationship between eczema and hay fever, which I have suffered from my whole life. This year, with being on the candida diet, my allergy symptoms have been almost non-existent! I few sniffles and sneezes, but surely not the eye-closing, I-can't-breathe reactions that have been a part of my life every fall.

I read all these articles which assert the causes for candida, among them being poor diet diet high in processed foots and sugars, antibiotic use, 'acidic' pH and ''leaky gut.'' I don't agree. Being a puritan, these causes have never applied to me, yet I had recurrent thrush. I believe it to be stress related, for me. Whatever the reason, the remedy is more important than energy wasting digging for causes. Its an endless game. I'm shocked by some of the severe protocols suggested by some which I liken to applying agent orange to an environment, and these extreme protocols threaten to completely obliterate everything in the bodies ecosystem.
I've found Undecylenic acid. (10-undecenoic acid) is an eleven-carbon, mono-unsaturated fatty acid occurring naturally in the body's perspiration. While several fatty acids have beneficial effects on the flora that naturally inhabit the gastrointestinal tract, undecylenic acid is the most potent. It aids in the establishment of healthy gut and vaginal flora and is x6 beneficial than caprylic acid. It is a naturally occurring constituent of castor oil, which is isolated.
Along with the candida diet you need to start on a low dose and work your way up, because even for me the detox symptoms were pretty intense, although I didn't get the common ones. Mine were more ''emotional'' symptoms such as severe anxiety, ''flushes'', feeling ''spaced out'', fatigue, foggy etc. I really recommend everyone give it a go! I believe it is the most powerful antifungal out there. Still in the process but feel I'm on the way to restoring the imbalance. After all, candida was with us when we were born and will be when we die. Do you know that after the body dies, candida actually continues to live and ''eat'' the body? Its true. You cant eradicate it completely, but you can restore balance. All the best!
Lufenuron has been demonstrated to help with fungal infections in other studies. Within a few days of taking it, body odor disappeared (a miracle in my mind). If I let 2-3 months lapse between doses, I can tell I've run out of lufenuron because I will notice deodorant doesn't work and I will crave sugar (some say this isn't related to candida, I disagree). I never crave sugar when I've recently had lufenuron. I think it also reduces or all but eliminates acne, although that effect could be because I'm not eating as much sugar. Been using lufenuron for at least 4 years, often forgetting I have it and not taking it monthly, but always recognizing the benefits within a few days of taking it. When the yeast come back, I will begin to think I need to throw my shoes out. Luckily I found a way to spare my shoes and simultaneously instantaneously erradicate the yeast and bacteria in the skin on the bottom of my feet. My trick will hopefully help others. It's easiest with sandals but can work with closed shoes if one proceeds with sensibility. The trick is to mix baking soda about 1:5 with hydrogen peroxide 3% (drug store quality) and squirt (if an absorbent insole, spray) onto the insoles. Insert feet and squish it around then walk around for a few minutes. It makes my feet so fresh and the shoes smell better than new. This should be used carefully because some could have sensitivities to either product. If one determines from a test patch that their skin is sensitive to this, try diluting the solution with water.
BTW, as many have noticed there seems to be a link between candida and autoimmunity (including allergies). Taking MSM in large doses (1-3 tbsp/day) completely cleared sinuses and other allergy symptoms. Some say MSM is effective against Candida so this might be one remedy to research if one wants to stay natural and avoid lufenuron. I have a "whatever works" philosophy and keep trying new things until one works well and is affordable and without ill effects. The MSM in such high doses caused me headaches so I had to stop it. Today I started molybdenum. Apparently a high sulfur intake resulting in headaches can indicate a molybdenum "deficiency".
Hi Song Lee...I'm not sure why you think sodium bicarbonate and water is dangerous for your stomach or intestines but I will explain it and try to convince you otherwise.
Please bear in mind the following facts about the intestines:
1. The intestines is about 30 feet long in an adult.
2. The intestinal inner surface is a very convoluted and a highly efficient absorptive pathway into the blood for nutrients.
3. It has also been proven through research that the whole nutrient absorption area of an adult's intestines is about the same size as a tennis court. It's huge!!
4. The duodenum or upper intestines area must be alkaline. I have read research which found that the pH of the upper intestines mucosa(duodenum area) must be maintained at a high alkaline pH of 8.5 for good intestinal health.
5. The lower part of the intestines(the last 10 feet or so), where our friendly lacto bacteria reside, should be acidic(the acidic pH varies).
6. Main stage digestion in the duodenum must take place in an alkaline to neutral medium, otherwise all the pancreatic enzymes(including lipase, amylase, trypsin, chemotrypsin, lactase etc) used in main stage digestion will not be able to act on and digest food. These enzymes cannot work and do their job in an acid medium.
7. Surprisingly, after the stomach has finished its digestion process, it secretes bicarbonates which helps to neutralize any residual hydrochloric acid. The stomach parietal cells then re-absorb these as chloride salts later to be converted into HCL the next time you have a meal. So even the stomach needs bicarbonates.
* The pancreatic juices carry all the enzymes from the pancreas into the duodenum for main stage digestion. These alkaline juices contain significant amounts of bicarbonates. If the pancreas had no bicarbonates to secrete then the acid stomach chyme(food+stomach acid) would not be neutralized and digestion would not occur. The food would then sit there and stagnate or rot, causing further serious disease in the intestines.
* Both liver bile(alkaline) and bicarbonates from the pancreas act on food fats to create a form of soap. This allows for easy travel of the feces down the intestines. If you didn't have enough bile or bicarbonates then this would cause severe constipation (as sometimes occurs in people who have had their gall bladder removed).
Now think of taking 1/2 tspn of sodium bicarbonate with water. How long would it take, travelling down the intestines, before the sodium bicarbonate in water was either neutralized by acids or was absorbed directly and rapidly into the blood by the intestines? I've worked out that it would probably take about 10 ft of travel before all the sodium bicarb was gone or absorbed into the blood. So the sodium bicarb would only ever tend to act to alkalize the upper intestinal region(which needs to be alkaline). What's more, the sodium bicarb would not be able to travel down or reach the last 20 feet of the intestines because it would be gone -- all absorbed into the blood or neutraized by acids in the upper intestines.
I would certainly agree with you that taking sodium bicarbonate and water at the same time as your meal would not be beneficial because it would neutralize the stomach acid and cause all sorts of serious problems. But I have never recommended taking sodium bicarbonate that way.
You should only ever alkalize with sodium bicarb one hour after you have stopped eating. This will not harm your stomach because the stomach stops working about 30 minutes after you finish eating your food so that all or most of the acid food or chyme has already moved into the the duodenum for main stage digestion, which also needs to be alkaline to neutral to be able to digest the food. So if you supplement sodium bicarb with water one hour after you have finished eating then this will also help main stage digestion by neutralizing the HCL in the duodenum where this acid is not wanted.

A few suggestions to add to your list.
1. Milled Flax Seed (one spoon w/ two meals per day) is very important in keeping the colon clean. Aloe Vera inner gel compliments the Flax by retarding pathogens adhering to the intestinal lining.
2. Either Activated Charcoal or Bentonite Clay taken prior to meals will drastically reduce herx or die-off reactions including headaches.
3. If you take a hot bath, add 1/2 cup Borax and the next bath rotate to a few squirts of Povidone Iodine to the water for penetrating the systemic pathogens.
4. Garlic may bode better if taken before retiring (or maybe after intimacy w/ partner). Oil of Oregano softgels are probably the most powerful plant based anti-pathogen.
5. Add some Wormwood to the Black Walnut and Clove to increase the anti-parasite potential.
6. White Willow Bark taken with the Brussel Sprouts or Broccoli increases the antibiotic potential by making a compound similar to Metronidazole.
7. The trace mineral Chromium taken w/ Niacinamide and Cinnamon promotes the metabolism of sugars instead of them fermenting into candida. Cinnamon is itself antifungal.
8. Not to forget Turpentine in the plant-based antifungal dept. even more powerful than Oregano and also an effective remedy for blasting biofilms throughout the body.
I have just started taking borax for my candida and need some advice. I have battled candida for years and currently it is systemic following a bout of antibiotics 2 months ago. I am high in heavy metals, namely lead, and have been taking iodine for a while to cure FBD but unfortunately it seemed to make my candida worse, perhaps because it mobilised the metals which spread the candida.
Anyway I heard about Borax some time ago but was too scared to try but now in desperation I have just started taking 1/16th of a teaspoon in 750 ml of water and sipping it throughout the day. I have been doing this for 5 days now. My question is, is this the right amount? I haven't noticed much yet, other than being a bit more tired and a slight headache and some aches and pains in my chest area. I normally get severe herx reactions from any antifungal so I thought I'd start slow, but perhaps I'm not taking enough? I have read about some amazing cures on this forum just one or two days into using Borax. I have continual brain fog and blocked sinuses on and off, just some of the symptoms of my candida, so I am waiting in hope that this will clear suddenly.
Also why do some take Borax for 4-5 days and then stop for a couple of days? Should I be doing this? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks :-)
Pamela: Candida is not your disease, it's the effect of some other disease like parasitic infestation (very high risk for pet owners) or any number of pathogens that are the primary cause resulting in immune dysfunction.
I would recommend taking Oregano Oil extracts in the a.m. and garlic oil extract before retiring as a simple first step. An herbal parasite formula like "Black Walnut Complex" is advised. Also take 25-50 mg Zinc Citrate w/ 10, 000 iu Vit-A daily (this will boost immune function and protect the gut from invading pathogens. L-Glutamine will boost the immune cells in the intestines.
Start w/ this and continue for a few wks and if you don't see much good results fallow Bill's anti-candida protocol which is available in full version in his new book "Killing So Sweetly" or the truncated version here on E.C.
Hi Vanessa...Bentonite clay will certainly help against candida. Bentonite should be taken in a glass of water outside mealtimes together with psyllium husks for best effect. Azomite is another one that is used in the same way. What I would also advise is to add a squeezed lemon to the bentonite, psyllium and water as well as to regularly take milk thistle and a magnesium supplement(Magnesium Chloride or Magnesium Citrate forms are best).
One caveat with Bentonite. Don't use bentonite together with allopathic drugs at the same time -- because bentonite will also act to remove synthetic drugs from the intestines as well. So do not supplement bentonite within 2 hours of any allopathic drug use.
Also, supplementing Molybdenum or sodium molybdate acts to generate and increase an enzyme in the body called aldehyde dehydrogenase (AD) which is the main enzyme that removes aldehydes and alcohols from the body. The majority of toxins emitted as waste by candida are aldehydes which can seriously effect the brain and mood. The AD enzyme converts aldehydes to acetic acit which is actually beneficial for the body. Additionally, adding pantethine and pantothenic acid to this protocol will also help to remove and safely neutralize dangerous candida toxins in the blood and this will consequently help to remove the depression and improve your husbands mood. Because sodium molybdate also kills candida -- this means that candida will be killed while, at the same time, acting also to neutralize and remove candida toxins so no side-effects on the mind should happen on die-off. See this link for the full details on dosages for molybdenum, pantethine and pantethenic acid(Vitamin B5). Taking a regular laxative (Philip's Milk of Magnesia should also be used -- this will also help to kill candida because of its high alkalinity and will remove alot of intestinal debris quickly).
Since your husband has had candida for over 40 years, then its practically a certainty that his fungal infection will be system wide or a systemic infection -- this means that his candida infection will not be just in the intestines but will also be in the blood, organs and tissues of his body.
For now, because of the amount of candida in his body and his extreme sensitivity to die off, I would simply concentrate on the complete removal of all candida from his intestines which always tends to be the throne of candida. Once this has been achieved and the symptoms reduced then perhaps you can move him on to a proper and full anti-candida protocol that will get rid of the candida and other bacterial infections from his blood. If you do not attempt to remove the systemic candida form from his blood, then it will simply act to come back in to repopulate and re-infect his intestines later. As an adult woman I've had a few yeast infections but last year I was given some really strong antibiotics and after that I had what was a permanent yeast infection for a year. I also have a skin condition called psoriasis. I came across the possibility of a severe candida infection and began researching. @Tinetine: As for prevention of Candida take 200mcg Chromium Picolinate 2x day and take Cinnamon caps 1 or 2 per day. These two nutrients combined will help your body convert glucose to energy and kill candida at the same time. Georgina, finding your post has changed my life!! I have been suffering for years and recently discovered why..Candida. Nothing I read on the Internet has worked until I discovered Brewer's Yeast. This immediately abated a lot of the symptoms. Adding the yeast flipped the switch to OFF! I can't Thank you enough.. Your post was a answer to a prayer. I have my life back. If you notice on this site with pretty much any issue or condition...there are multiple remedies mentioned because everyone is different. What works for one person may not work for someone else.
This site is all about answers! :) As far as the brewers yeast, simply do not consider it as an option for you presently..as your mind set can affect any results you are wanting for yourself. And perhaps lay off the hydrogen peroxide for a while, and can always restart it again at a later date if so inclined.
That being said. There are loads of ways to manage or get rid of candida...as frankly we all have some issue with balance of bacteria being 'off' at some point in our lives. Knowing how NOT to feed it, while also knowing what will help eliminate it, is what keeps it in check.
Good you are eating healthier as that is half of the issue. Stress however is another BIG contributor to Candida as it raises cortisol levels which then can increase blood sugar and well, we all know that yeast loves sugar. So how are you managing your stress on a DAILY basis?
Pau d' arco, garlic, olive leaf, organic unrefined coconut oil, infused oregano oil, food grade diatomaceous earth, all help kill the yeast/candida..I usually suggest 2 of these..start out with low doses so as not to overdo it initially.
As I'm big in mindset affecting health and our expectations...maybe try to soften your outlook from a 'nightmare' to an annoying situation you are simply in the process of fixing. ;)
Juicing, Dietary Changes
I would like to share this story with you!
I've researched about Candida for quite a while in order to help my mum that has been suffering from Candida for about 25 years and it got worse and worse. She had to brush her tongue and her teeth several times a day, she also had Candida on her nails. Her digestion was bad, her energy was low, she was a rather negative person. She really suffered. I also need to tell you that many people with Candida should first get rid of their Amalgam teeth fillings and then divert it correctly (you'll find information about that online easily)
Desperate enough, she was willing to try something new with me being her "supervisor".
We did the following:
10-days green juice fast, strict diet and colon cleanse once a week
after those 10 days fasting she had to follow a very strict diet: No sugar, no alcohol, no carbos, no nuts, no animal products (besides once a week a small piece of meet or fish), no nuts and seeds, no RAW food, no artifical food products (like the "E's"), if possible organic. So in short, she has been eating mainly steamed or stired veggies with a sauce (oil or coconut milk or soy cream with lots of amazing spicies and herbs), avocado purÃ©e with lemon, salt and pepper for breaky or Hummus.
After one month Candida was reduced for about 40 to 50%.
The second month she was allowed a little more but only because we had really good results. Once a week she was allowed to eat: meat, fish, a glass of good wine. Every day she chose different carbos and ate them in small quantities (only eat a specific sort once a week max): brown rice, spelt, rye, quinoa, millet, corn (no wheat if poss).
After the second month she was an almost different person - spreading so much love and light!
She will have to continue another 3 to 4 month I guess. And she felt very weak in the beginning for about one month. It is a lot. But it is so worthwhile if you get to the point where everybody could be: feeling light, authentic, loving towards yourself and others... And she has become so easy-going, so relaxed;)
