I have used a mixture with lobelia seed to treat asthma attacks and it clears it within 5 minutes. It also is used to prevent attacks when taken in settings that may trigger them. Other ingredients were nettle, Pleurisy, Ginger, Mullein leaf, Comfrey root, Marshmallow root, Onion, Elecampane Root, Coltsfoot Leaf, Licorice Root, Kola Nut, Cherry Bark, Fennel Seed, Peppermint Leaf.

Oregano oil for bronchitis and asthma:

After trying EVERYTHING I read about I came across a book by Dr. Cass Ingram in which she describes how wild oregano can be used in the treatment of different diseases. I started using the oil and a supplement with oregano and other spices and after a week I'm so much better, I rarely use my inhaler anymore. Amazing!

Buteyko Breathing Method

Asthma - I have had wonderful results with the Buteyko Method which helped me manage my asthma especially the wheezing and constricted breathing which kept me awake at night. It worked within 2 or 3 days although I do recommend practising it for at least a month and on and off till the inflamation subsides. I now manage to exercise and can have a good bellylaugh again. It is believed that a low % of CO2 in the lungs - less than 6% - has a detrimental effect on the dilation of the bronchioli and the presence of inflammation increases mucus which further inhibits breathing. I followed and I recommend being pretty diligent for the first 5 days of the exercises it is worth it. Just google/youtube Buteyko and good luck!

I also faithfully drank a litre of tea made from liquorice root (adrenal stress), rose-hip (helps with lung tissue inflammation) and ginseng (beneficial for respiritory problems) for about 6 months. I found it to be very energising.

Dietary Changes

Hi Rachel, Just saw your post. I too am sensitive to sulphur both good and bad types to the point that salbutamol is no longer able to control my asthma. I have avoided corticosteroids use up to this point. For the last 12 months, I have found that when I am on a keto diet I am able to completely control my asthma and even eat some broccoli, cabbage etc, however, if I slip up and fall out of keto my asthma will come straight back. The keto diet controls some of the major inflammatory mechanisms affecting the lungs. Finding this out has been a major relief for me and the keto diet can be very satisfying once you get around the learning curve a bit. I hope you or somebody else finds this to be helpful. Cheers Ralph

Hydrogen Peroxide
Posted by Robert (Katy, Texas) on 12/22/2012

With great reluctance, I have little choice but to discontinue day & night nebulizer treatments. This choice has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the combination, but with my extremely long days and the need to choose another option that requires less time than a 20-25 minutes session twice a day.

This method has shown me not just improvement with clearing the lungs, but additional energy within a short while after completion. I would recommend this to all.

Hydrogen Peroxide

I was suffering from Asthma for the past 10 years. Before taking 35% Hydrogen Peroxide food grade, I can't walk up to 50 meters and felt very exhausted and breathed heavily.

4 months ago, after reading the forums from Earth Clinic, I started taking 35% Hydrogen Peroxide fg. Begin with 1 drop until reached 6 drops, 2 times /day, I did not increase the dosage because I don't have time to do it everyday. Sometimes I stop for 1 or 2 days a week due to work schedule.

Incredible things happen, now I can run for 50 meters and walk for hours. Though it is still not fully cured yet, but I am happy now, and will continue taking it as what I have done, hopefully, I will get cured from Asthma any time soon.

I recommend to friends the beautiful things about 35% Hydrogen Peroxide fg. The response is very excited, more and more friends go for alternative treatment. This not only save a lot of money but see the results quite fast.

Glutathione, MSM

Try inhaled Glutathione (you will need to get a prescription from a holistic doctor). It works wonders for all sorts of severe breathing problems! Please ask about this miraculous supplement from a knowledgable holistic doctor - you will need to get it from a compounding pharmacy. I know MSM works well for breathing troubles, too, so that is something to look into as well.

So from late August through Mid-September my asthma is at its worst. This year has been better but not according to my standards. Every night I would have to us my inhaler which is not acceptable to me. After reading through this website I came across Vitamin B and decided to try it. Incredibly my asthma has improved. I am taking Vitamin B-complex daily and I haven't had to use my inhaler since starting. This worked for me but I can't guaruntee it will work for everyone.

Yamoa Powder

Yamoa Powder For Asthma

I notice this remedy is not anywhere on this site, and certainly not under Asthma or Hay Fever/allergies.

It was introduced into Britain in the mid-1990's by a Ghanaian immigrant, a Mr. Yamoa, and supposedly is used there quite widely. Britain, likely due to its huge congestion (61 million in a tiny island) has a large percentage of people with asthma or allergies/respiratory ailments. The actual plant extract powder comes from the bark of a species of tree in Ghana. It is sold in capsule form in health stores. Also, there is no need to take it for life prophylacticly. It balances the immune system so that the asthma attacks stop (or the allergies/hay fevers). One will know within the first 2 months of taking the therapeutic dosage if it has worked. There's retail sellers on the Internet, but I can't vouch for any. Just use a search engine.

Turmeric

In desperation I tried turmeric for a very large and painful abcess I had on my inner thigh. I've had problems with a boil there before and took 1 teaspoon of turmeric in water or milk 3 times a day. Day one the pain started to subside greatly... By day two it was shrinking and by day three it was about 75% smaller!! I'm amazed and relived BUT what I found to be extraordinary is that I noticed I have used my rescue inhaler for asthma only once in the time I started taking the turmeric. I am on an oral medication for asthma but still must use my rescue inhaler several times a day. The relief in my asthma is truly a mircle treatment for me. I plan to use turmeric daily for asthma and will play around with the dosage to see what will keep it at bay for me. thank you Earth Clinic!!

My youngest daughter has had asthma since she was 6 years old. Her doctor told me that if we were ever out camping or such away from medical help, giving her a strong cup of coffee would help her until we could reach a hospital.

i agree. high alkaline diet reduces asthma attacks. my son's attacks has not recurred in almost 5 years now since he changed his diet to 80% alkaline reacting food and 20% acid reacting food.

I was diagnosed with seasonal asthma, and have had the same brutal cough for about 5 years. It would last for about 3 months untreated. Advair worked but I hated the side effects. Read about mullein on line 4 days ago and my cough is 85% better. The first night I took the drops my cough almost went away and I slept great for the first time in weeks. This miracle plant worked for me. I have been taking the drops 4 times a day and drinking the tea twice a day. In fact... Gonna go make a cup now :)

Honey Steam, Lemons

I have grown up with severe asthma and while in the hospital for a collapsed lung, I decided to read up on the long term effects of using Advair. After my reading, I decided to wean myself from this prescription and focus on exercise and diet changes, which within a month I didn't use my Advair nor Albuterol. Until I had a reaction to my girlfriends dog last Christmas. I just couldn't breath so I rushed back to my Dr and the albuterol....and after a month, I backed away completely. Until tonight when I went to my now fiance's parents house....with the same dog. I am going add Apple Cider Vinegar to my diet, but since I didn't have any at home, I pulled out the honey. Added several teaspoons to a 1/4 cup of water and heated it up in the microwave for a nice Honey Steamer. It put me at ease for about 30 minutes. I was comfortable enough to try another suggestion from this site...so I just cut up a large Florida lemon and ate it, adding a little bit of the juice to my honey water...hmmm I am now breathing again, I think I will finally go to bed (6am)I think I might eat another lemon for breakfast.

H2O2 Inhalation Therapy
Posted by Ted (Bangkok, Thailand) on 02/11/2008 391 posts

An asthmatic condition can be a number of causes, which is why no single remedy will work for each individual cases. Much of the time I spent is finding the cause, which is rather lacking in many emails.

For example, I was an asthmatic myself and was greatly helped with just vitamin A, and baking soda. My body at the time was acidosis and lacking in vitamin A and vitamin A helped increase the mucus reducing the resistance. Hence, I later found vitamin E to be helpful.

As to a high fever issue, HP shines well especially with fever, viruses, pneumonia and bacteria. It kills it.

Asthmatic is not a condition of pathogens in many cases, it is a reaction to a foreign toxins, in which case detoxification is a more useful way to reduce "reactions". In my books asthmatics and allergies has the same issue. In which case chlorella/spirulina, adding 5 drops of 3% H2O2, in a glass of water, and the use of baking soda such as 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water, or perhaps the use of 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda.

Natural remedies and natural therapies are inseparable when we treat the cause, not the methods to cure a given condition. The cause is the foundation to proper use of natural therapies. Hence, asthma is often a toxins initiated by vaccinations, aspartame, toxic heavy metals, thinners, for example, being the most common of all toxins.

H2O2 Inhalation Therapy

I don't want to be the giver of false hope on any one remedy. I now realize that every child or person is different and therefore may respond accordingly depending on each set of circumstances they are given. To explain this further, my asthmatic as described in my earlier post is now back on steroids and albuterol b/c a cold that we all had exasperated her asthma and she was no longer responding to the HP inhalation therapy that I earlier treated her with. On the other hand, my baby was again coming down with something and had high fever for over a day. I put her back on HP inhalation and she cleared up right away! It's strange that these outcomes can't be more consistent but I suppose there's just so much more to learn. Still Seeking, kr

Apple Cider Vinegar, H2O2 Inhalation

After years of adult onset asthma, I feel "a lot" better since taking a tsp. of straight cider vinegar at night before bed. I hardly ever wake up wheezing anymore. Also, I have tried peroxide inhalation (50/50 mix of 3% peroxide with water in a spray bottle 2x a day.) Stings like heck at first, but I can breathe through my nose again. I also take 1500 mg, or more, of vitaman c per day. I feel great again!

Nose Breathing
Posted by Victoria Shepard (Santa Barbara, CA) on 09/29/2007

Nose breathing reduced my asthma-like symptoms considerably. About 8 years ago I was diagnosed with allergy related asthma. I ignored the symptoms for about 6 years as they were mild. They worsened, and I had to use an inhaler every day to control the coughing. This year, I noticed that when I laughed, sang, yelled or became stressed, talked too much (I am a teacher), I would cough. I knew my doctor would just give me more asthma drugs, so I began to research alternative treatments on the internet. I came up with the Buyteko program which requires an hour a day of breathing exercises and changing to nose breathing from mouth breathing. As I do not have an hour a day to practice specialized breathing exercises, I utilized what I could: In June of this year (2007), I became a nose breather. It was tricky at first. I had to learn to shorten my sentences and inhale only through my nose. I naturally exhale through my mouth slowly as I speak. This is okay. No deep breathes in or out through the mouth. No deep breathes in through the nose either. To prevent mouth breathing at night, in accordance with the Buyteko program, I tape my mouth with cheap masking tape. It took 3 months, but I have no asthma-like symptoms. I can laugh, shout, get excited or stresed and sing.

It has been over a months since I have used an inhaler.

Asthma and Vocal Cord Dysfunction

Last year, I found a lot of very valuable information on your site, and as a result took several steps to improve my health. I had asthma as a child, and it still occurs occasionally when triggered by outdoor allergies. Last year I had major asthma problems all year, which was uncharacteristic for me. Allergy/asthma medications did not help - in fact I got progressively worse. After being diagnosed with reflux (which I now believe was caused by these medications), I tried reflux medicines, and again, continued to get worse. After viewing your site, I managed to get off of all the asthma and reflux medications, and have used ACV with good results. However, this year, I began experiencing asthma again, and have since learned about Vocal Cord Dysfunction (also called Paradoxical Vocal Cord Movement). I think your readers would benefit from considering this as a possible cause of their breathing difficulties. I've been told that it is actually rather common, and while there are specialists who know about it, it is not yet well known by the medical profession.

I'm having a mild asthma attack at work and looked up remedies and tried the black coffee, and it's working. It's a good trick to know since you can grab coffee just about anywhere.
