Aloe, Coconut Oil

I have been using a mixture of coconut oil and aloe vera gel (4:1 ratio) on my face for my acne for only 2 weeks and it has almost completely cleared it up. I have had moderate to severe acne since I was 13 (I am now 37), and have tried everything under the sun to diminish it. Some things have helped more than others, but this is the first time my skin has felt so good and looked so good in almost 25 years!

Green Tea

The airport security took all my cleansers and astringent last month so i've been looking for a hollistic replacement. Apparently, used green tea tea-bags work wonders! It immediately turns those starting-to-swell-and-i-know-it's-going-to-last-a-month zits into whiteheads, ready to pop or naturally pop itself by the next day! I'd make a cup of green tea, wash and dry my face while the tea steeps itself, then I take the tea bag out (let it cool a little first, but warm enough so it opens those pores) and wipe it across my face like a cotton pad with astringent. Let it air-dry. I sit on the couch and drink the tea while i wait for the 'astringent' to dry off. I heard this stains your skin green, but it works like foundation on me because i have an olive complexion.

** CAREFUL, green tea stains sinks, so wash down the sink after every use. **

Probiotics

I have been through so many acne treatments (including 2 rounds of accutane) yet I was still getting cysts and spots everyday. I was also having recurrent yeast infections every month. I got off birth control which helped for a while. THEN i started using apple cider vinegar 3x a day, and an antifungal with oregano oil, pau d'arco, caprylic oil etc. Those helped a lot , but I was still getting very hard and painful bumps. What I believed helped me to get rid of my acne was adding probiotics of very meal. I make my own kombucha, kefir and kimchi and they have done wonders for my whole body including the yeast problem. They are also very cheap!

My daughter had severe acne as a teenager and saw three different dermatologist giving her various medications that hardly made a difference. I read that often times acne is caused by a zinc deficiency. I took her off of all perscription meds and put her on zinc supplements 3x a day. Within a month all of her acne was gone. She had some redness and scarring but all acne was gone. I was amazed that something so simple, over the counter, could work so well. I'm not sure if I can mention this or not but if you need the exact amount it was in some book that is titled Foods that Heal.

I have just started taking Zinc, It is 50mg for 3 times a day. I didn't get if from a book, but found it on several websites.

I think you are supposed to decrease that amount after your face has achieved the desired results.

You shouldn't exceed 100 mgs of zinc daily through all sources, my book states 30-80mgs daily. Possible you have other mineral deficiencies as well if you also have BO issues. Try chlorophyll by drinking green drinks or eating lots of parsley and other leafy greens. Preferably raw. Be sure you are drinking lots of pure water (not tap). Most acne and other ailments will clear up from eating a mostly raw fruit and vegetable diet. Be sure your bowels are moving. Try a colon cleanse or adding lots of fiber to your diet. This should help with the BO and the acne. I never had acne as a teenager just an occasional bump here and there. I do go through phases where I will get an area that seems to keep pimples (the kind that you can feel coming 3 days before you can see it) and usually on my chin (where I tend to prop on my hands). When this happens I put oregano oil on that area and this usually puts a stop to them for a while. Oregano burns so you may want to dilute it some with olive oil and keep away from eyes. Apply it with a q-tip to keep from getting it on your fingers and later rubbing it into eyes. I don't dilute mine, but if you have never used it I suggest diluting one drop of oregano oil to 1 tsp. of olive oil, then work your way up to adding more drops if you can take it.

Toothpaste

I just wanted to add that I also use toothpaste for acne. It won't help prevent acne, but if you have a pimple, put a dab of toothpaste on it before bed time. Sleep with it on and wash it off in the morning. You will find that the soreness, redness and swelling has gone down considerably!

If I feel a blemish coming on and I have some where to go, I usually get a q-tip wet with eye drops and put it in the freezer. when the q-tip is frozen I put it on the pimple and it take the red out and reduces the swelling. thanks for this great site, after reading all this great information, I thought I'd share one of my own.

Toothpaste on those nasty zits you can feel the pressure on the inside too, will suck out the oil. In fact toothpaste on any zit will do that. I only know from experience on one of those nasty ones developing. I put the toothpaste on it at night, and in the morning my face was incredibly oily, and the wad of toothpaste was covered as well, and no more zit pressure.

Salt

Fill your sink up, about 1/4, with warm water. Then pour some salt in it. Soak cotton ball in it for 30 minutes and swish it around, making sure its all salty. Squeeze out the cooton ball and apply on the pimple. If your face doesnt start to tingle, add more salt to the cotton ball. When your face does start tingling, push down for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, DON'T WASH THE SALT OFF YOUR FACE. Apply honey on your face and leave on for 15 minutes. When 15 minutes is up, rinse off and apply a dab of toothpaste and leave on overnight.

I'm really surprised this hasn't been posted, but the real remedy to acne or cystic acne is your own urine! Soak a cotton ball (first morning pee is best)hold it on the pimple, repeat every time you urinate, the pimple will go away. Contrary to popular belief, human urine is sterile and contains your own wasted antibodies. Don't knock it until you try it, it really works!

I really never have had a problem with acne so when I developed a pimple on my chin it was somewhat of a big deal. I'm not used to something on my face hurting like it did. At first I popped it and pulled out that little yellow bullet shaped thing from the middle ( what is that, the infection or dried pus?) It bled a little then a bit more pus came out - still hurt of course. I decided to try ACV which hurt and made me develop immediately a fine rash of bumps all around the blemish. I think it is because my skin is very sensitive and it just burnt it a little - or because I had the opening in my skin for it spread faster... Then I thought of crushing half of a multi vitamin and making a paste. I did so, applied the paste to the blemish, put a bandaid over it ( it did hurt for a few minutes) and Voila! in about an hour the spot had dried up and was on its way to healing and not feeling tender! I would definitely do this again!

My staph problem is clearing up with a topical application of clindoxyl, however I did want to comment on Ted's suggestion of zinc and manganese supplements for oily skin. Oily skin can help create conditions for stubborn bacterial infections for the bacteria feeds off all that excess sebum. Prior to Ted's suggestion I had been supplementing with 75mg of zinc gluconate with 10mg of tin oxide for about a month with perhaps the result of clearing up seborrheic dermatitis around my nose, eyebrows and ear folds. I still had very oily skin on my face and scalp though. As was recommended, I've been supplementing with a cup of soy milk along with 50mg of chelated manganese for six days now and my face is noticeably less oily. I've also been taking in 150mg of flax lignan, which I've read also helps. At any rate, something here is working. I'll continue to supplement with the manganese for another week, as per Ted's suggestion. Perhaps this info could be cross-posted to the acne page as well. Thank you!

CORAL CALCIUM: I take about 800-1000mg - two in the morning. Results should appear in about two weeks. My understanding is that people with facial acne is a result not so much from infection of oil glands or dirty skin, but a mineral deficiency. I first came across this product originally to treat calcium deficiency. After using it for awhile my facial acne disappeared. Coral Calcium can be found in drug stores, Wal-Mart, kmart, and the like. Take care.

Tomato

Tomatoes have improved my skin. They also cure my low-intensity digestion problems. Whenever our skin does not look healthy-- pimples, etc, I and my wife found this very useful: First thing in the morning, take half a tomato. One full if it is small or a Roma tomato. Cut into 4 to 8 pieces. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper powder. Eat it. And do not eat anything for next 30 to 45 mins. That's all. Within 2-3 days, you should notice a change. If you do, continue for next 2-3 days. Make sure you eat it in the morning on an empty stomach. I guess is that it removes certain bacteria/ worms from the stomach and directly improves the skin. Hope it helps you too!
