Thank you everyone! I just used garlic on my sore tooth and it has cleared up the pain. At first when I placed the garlic on the gum around my tooth, it hurt so bad that my ear and jaw throbbed in pain. After 5 minutes it subsided and I can feel the pain is gone and my sore gums are feeling better. My ear doesn't feel plugged up anymore, and my vertigo is gone. This is amazing!!!!

Okay! Hold the phone here.... It's all fine and dandy to support the use of natural things to assist and perhaps even cure some things... but when you go off on a tangent that has garlic curing cancer you are misleading people. I'm not denying that garlic may indeed play a key role in possibly preventing certain cancers and maybe be a PART of a cure but for you to make these wild assertions is irresponsible and could be dangerous to someone innocently reading your post. Kindly exercise caution.

Garlic totally did NOT work for me... As a matter fact it made my symptoms worse... I eventually had to go to the dentist to get treated properly. I had an abcess and applied the garlic to the infected area, hoping to ease the pain and get rid of the infection, however when I woke up a couple hours later my jaw was so swollen. I eventually made my way to the dentist where I'm on amoxicillin and pain meds, although I'm still in pain, glad to know that I got something I know will work... Guess it just depends on the individual..

I should like to add my comments regarding the healing properties of garlic. A few days ago I developed an abcess in my mouth on my upper gum. It was extremely painful and even made my left eye painful. I decided to try garlic as a last resort and swallowed eight garlic pearl drop of 2mg each. I did this for 7 days and also rinsed my mouth with lukewarm salt water three times daily. Within 48 hours the abcess began to dissapear and within five days it had gone completely! ... I cannot say this will work for you but it is definately worth trying if you are unable to get to a dentist for whatever reason.

I totally agree. I was balding and tried everything holistic and natural while believing with every fiber of my being that it would work. Full head of hair is the result. I got melasma after menopause and did everything natural that I found on this site while believing, truly believing that those horrible stains would go away one day and they surely did within about 3 mths. The power of positive thinking cannot be over stated. I'll be doing the garlic thingy in the am while cheerfully believing in its cure....Any doubters, See placebos....

WOW! I cannot thank everyone enough for posting about using garlic cloves to take care of a tooth abscess. Like others have said, I am truly amazed at how quickly the raw garlic (which I pressed to the side of my tooth along the gum line) worked! It's truly an amazing thing to know about.

Garlic-garlic-garlic! I cannot say enough about the healing properties of garlic when it comes to dental infections.

I promise you that if you do this, you will be astounded at how well it works.

Take a good sized clove of peeled garlic (the bigger, the better), slice it fairly thin, then chop it into tiny pieces. Let the chopped pieces sit for about 5 minutes, then put all of the pieces onto a spoon and gulp it down, almost as you would a pill, with water.

Do this 3x a day and you will be amazed! Good luck. Tooth pain is no fun. I feel for you.

Garlic for gum abscess

I am amazed at the potency of garlic as a nautural antibiotic, and although I had always been aware of this property, I am stunned at how well it has worked on a particularly nasty gum abscess that I had been suffering from.

To cut a long story short(er), I have a grumbling wisdom tooth on my lower right side, and the flap that was partially covering it became infected about 2 weeks ago. By the wednesday of the first week I went to the dentist who informed me that the particularly nasty case of pericoronitis I had would not clear without antibiotics, even using the hot salt water rinses that have cleared more superficial abscesses for me in the past. By the Wednesday evening, I could hardly open my mouth, and I could feel the infection spreading into the muscles that hinged my upper and lower jaws. I knew it was a very deep abscess, but I was determined not to use the antibiotics as I am very much against the routine use of antibiotics unless in emergency situations.

So I commenced with the salt water rinses, echinacea, oil pulling with tea tree and sunflower/sesame oil to arrest the infection, and ibuprofen for the pain. These were working well enough, but, i.e I could feel that the infection was being drawn somewhat out of my jaw muscles over the next few days. I continued this course of action until the Sunday, when I decided to add grapefruit seed extract into the mix. This helped somewhat although worked no major miracles, and by the Tuesday I was ready to try terramin clay packed over the abscess overnight. This seemed to work well as on the Wednesday morning the abscess had come to a head and burst (uber gross!), but it was still inflamed and I could feel the infection was still there. But I continued with the terramin and the rest of my protocol over the next day, and yet again by the Thursday morning the abscess had refilled over night and now had not just one head on it but two!

At this point I came across garlic as a possible magic bullet - this was a real "aha!" moment, cos i knew of garlics efficacy as a natural antibiotic, but I just hadn't considered putting it on my abscess. So i went straight and mashed up some garlic in my pestle and mortar and placed some of the mash on my abscess and drank the rest down with some water. My god, the pain was incredible, so much so that I could not sit still and had to walk around the house inbetween rushing to the bathroom to get rid of the excess saliva my mouth was producing, but I knew that the garlic was getting to work and killing the infection.

Within 12 hours the abscess had reduced by half, and this morning it is looking pretty grizzly, but is almost back to it's normal gum profile with no pain and no refilling with that god awful pus. I am continuing with the garlic protocol until I am sure this is completely healed (and the oil pulling too as i think this is invaluable for gum health), but all other treatments I feel are now unnecessary - garlic is the magic bullet for oral problems :o)

All in all, I think that the salt water rinses, oil pulling, echinacea, grapefuit seed extract and terramin arrested the infection and drew it to the surface of my gum, but it was the garlic that actually killed it.

Yes, Ginger is good for your breath. After doing the 'garlic routine', cut a slice of ginger and chew it for a minute or two, then spit it out..else. Then you are good to go!

Tooth Abscess

Garlic. Use it.

I have had a tooth abscess on my lower jaw due to an unfinished root canal I had 9 months ago. Its swollen with pus and the pain has almost been unbearable. I'm one of those lucky ones with no insurance, medical, dental or otherwise and I became so desperate that I actually tried to drain the abscess myself with a needle and some otc pain reliever.

It was too painful and very difficult to hold my mouth open at the same time.

Then, upon stumbling to this site, I discovered something quite wonderful. GARLIC. A whole clove. Cut in half. I knew it was gonna burn, but #%$&!

Be prepared for pain. Especially if you've cut your gum up with a needle. I could only keep the garlic on initially for like 5 seconds, but every time I made myself do it a little longer with a little more and WHALA.

About an hour later i can hold the whole clove in my mouth, cut side against the abscess and I can tell you now, that the swelling has already decreased SIGNIFICANTLY.

Consider me impressed. I'm going to continue with this and hope it actually removes some of the abscess. Thank God for this site.

GARLIC FOR THE WIN.

you might also try making up a ball of calcium bentonite clay and sticking it where the abcess is. this will help draw the pus out. it will also soothe the irritated area.
maybe do the garlic for a while and then the clay when you get tired of the garlic. or you could even crush some garlic and put it into some bentonite. also take turmeric. i have even had relief from abcess pain by swishing some tumeric mixed with oil in my mouth and brushing my teeth and gums with this mixture. good luck :) also eat raw garlic of course ;)

I had a terrible tooth ache this moning. My tooth chipped a few months ago and so my nerve is exposed. I was in so much pain crying and drinking tylenol extra strenght a bunch after one another nd the dentist is closed on a sunday so I looked on the internet for a quick remedy then I saw this site looked and saw garlick I hate garlic but I thought garlic or pain. I tried it and for sure within half an hour the pain was gone and I fell asleep. Thank you sooooooooo much if it wasn't for this site I probably would still be crying now. I will use the garlic once a week just in case but also go and see my dentist.

Thank you so much I will be looking on this site only if I need help again.

Yours sincerely

I like your comments...a lot of us are extreme conservatives, so you're not alone! I used garlic for packing on 40lbs of muscle in 6 months...It even kills botulism... a tough nut to crack ...my animals that were treated with garlic lived (and it arrested paralysis) the others died quickly, even with medication.

I agree Billy, we are lucky to be part of this international forum. To me this forum is a brain storm of someone that has the power, knowledge, compassion, and foresight to want to share natural methods of healing with other. This is an act that transcends all barriers, it is an act of humanity.

Anyhow, raw garlic is amazing. I had a fistula at dental extraction site, an oral surgeon cleaned it out and I had 4 ozone injections into the site. Still there was a small bump at the site, so I chopped it up some raw garlic in little pieces and put it in my mouth guard and went to sleep. Using the mouth guard eliminated the burning sensation. In two days time, the bump was gone.

De-shell a dozen or so cloves of garlic, dice 'em all up, put in a 7 to 12 ounce jar, fill 75 % with (clean, non-tap water if possible)... Swish the elixir around in mouth, spit it out... the next gulp of elixir (less water if possible) push pieces of the raw garlic with tongue into the effected area of the mouth...it'll burn.... but that means it is healing the infection. Repeat until the incredible pain disappears... within 48 hours.... With this particular application of Raw Garlic one can un-cap the jar and breath in the unbelievable strong fumes created by the elixir to help quell respiratory ills as well... If you swallow the garlic elixir you've just helped strengthen your entire digestive system as well as your auto immune system. The only side effect known about raw garlic is the destruction of friendship| ;0)....feed diced raw garlic in a dark green salad to people around you .... Nobody will be offended at this point..... Thank You

How's your abscess? I've mixed baking soda with turmeric before and brushed the area. I've also had success with activated charcoal mixed into a paste to pull the infection out. Another one is just hydrogen peroxide brushing. Hope it's better but you may need to root canal it or lose the tooth all together like me :(

Referring back to my previous post about my wisdom tooth infection, my infection haven't cleared by the time when I post the first post here, as I mentioned I will continue consuming the garlic and hope that the infection will go away and I'm completely healed from it.

But yesterday I actually performed the wisdom tooth extraction, both the upper and lower one on the left side because the night before, I experience a terrible pain from the left side of my head (right beside my left eyes), my face area right below my left ear, around my jaws, neck and extend until my shoulder, slightly above my heart. I took painkiller but the pain doesn't go away even after 2 hours. In the end I fall asleep with the pain.

Before this, I also read articles about infection that could cause death because infection that is not treated can spread. It can spread wide and fast, and in the situation where the tooth/gum infection spread towards the brain, it will cause brain abscess which, in worst case, can cause death.

Unwilling to risk dying from saving two teethes, I decided to remove it since the problem doesn't seems to go away completely. And of course, the dentist comment that my wisdom tooth really shouldn't be there because it's not in the right condition at all. Definitely gone through some pain and uncomfort feeling from pulling the teethes, but I guess it's save me from experiencing random pain once or few times in awhile.

I'm not sure if it's due to my incorrect practice of using the garlic, or there is something that I missed. But I guess sometimes if garlic could completely helps to heal naturally and the problem don't come back, that's good. But on the other hand, we still need to depend on the dentist to check up and make sure that everything inside of our mouth is fine.

Hope no one need to experience the same things as me.

I spent a good part of yesterday evening with an oral pain relief gel then ibuprophen. I haven't had a toothache in many years and I would say its in the top 2 -above ear pain. While I laid in bed until the early hours and tried cloves because that's what was in my cabinet. I just cut up the garlic clove and so far holding my breath, it has subsided...fingers and toes crossed.

I sure thank all of you for posting about your experience with garlic!

I lost my filling due to the candy "sugar daddy" Yep, first bite of that hard caramel took my filling right out!

Never had any problems and my filling has been gone for months but when the pain started, it started! I did the temporary filling along with the clove oil for pain. It worked for a couple of months but has returned but this time with a swollen face and a headache. "I start a new job this week" I do not have the money for the dentist and do not want to lose my tooth so here I began my search of ways to heal naturally and affordably!

I'll let y'all know how it goes...sleeping with garlic tonight :)

Thanks again,

Angelia

I am super late to the party on this one. Natural remedies can pull infections to the surface. Many remedies for access and the like will pull deep infections to the surface before they drain and heal. This is common. Hope everything worked out for you.

Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory spice and so is ginger. It is also reported that both fight cancer. Turmeric was immediate for me when I had ingested too much manufactured glutamic acid, "MSG" (my fingers split) I mixed 1/2 tsp. in a little over 1/2 C warm water and drank.

I use about 1/4 tsp. of each on eggs and/or vegetables. This seems to reduce internal inflammation and improves the products of elimination.

I suggest oregano. I've been taking oregano for my gums because I had a really bad sinus infection which didn't clear up with antibiotics and my gums became so swollen so my husband bought fresh oregano and mashed it up a little then I would place the leaves between my lip and gum. First time I did that it burned and hurt but afterwards seemed to have helped. Even helps clear up the sinus just fyi unless you're a fan it is a nasty tasting herb when it's so strong. I just had tooth problems recently and started garlic along with oregano. Hoping for the best.

Garlic

to KC from Santa Cruz. I would advise you to have the root extracted. Dr Weston Price discovered nearly a century ago that root canals almost invariably leave bacterial matter in the cavity leading to infection which can affect overall health. I have had teeth root filled in the UK and the US and all have abcessed so, beyond the initial cost I paid to have them crowned, re-done and crowned again and then removed.

For any of you out there who are rejoicing at the prospect of socialised medicine I should explain that my dental misfortunes are directly attributable to the British National Health Service. As a child and in my teens I got regular six monthly check ups and was invariably informed that a new filling was needed or an old one required revision. I didn't know at the time that dentist only got paid for a course of treatment and not for merely examination so, of course, they invented cause to inflate the paycheck. By my mid-twenties I was living in California, working without health insurance and avoiding the dentist. In thirteen years one filling dropped out and needed replacement which told me something. On returning to the UK I used private dental treatment but here's the sad truth. In the public health sector, because the services are so much in demand, standards deteriorate abysmally and when this happens the private sector follows suit for both medical and dental care. As a result I now have some very expensive gaps in my mouth.

I turned to this page because I had the last root filled root out two and a half weeks ago and the gum is still infected in spite of salt water, hydrogen peroxide and grapefruit seed extract several times a day. No great pain but my sinuses are running like a tap so am about to try the garlic and thank heavens for this site.

As a point of interest I should pass on some praise for one great dentist I was lucky enough to find. This was many years ago in Mexico when a crowned tooth broke at the gumline. This lovely man performed a root canal and had me in every day for ten days to change the temporary dressing, even coming in Sunday after Mass to do so. The gold post he made is still there and this is the only treated tooth with which I have never had a moments problem.

Been reading all the comments about garlic helping the pain of a tooth abscess. I have been in immense pain for 2 days- as my dentist is shut due to the holiday period I had to go to my local hospital A & E yesterday to get strong painkillers ( Iboprufen didn't work) and antibiotics. The painkiller I was given Co Dydramol is supposed to be strong- reduced the pain a bit last night but woke up today in even worse agony. It's been so bad today I couldn't chew (even on the other side of my mouth)-any attempts had me screaming in agony. I had to make soup and swallow it.

This afternoon I had a clove in my mouth which helped a little but I decided to give garlic a try- as I have a whole organic one sitting there and I like the taste of garlic I thought I have nothing to lose except having smelly breath! I have cut up a clove and swallowed it whole with water - maybe it'll help speed up this antibiotic working. I took 2 more pain killers at 9pm and by 11pm still is a great deal of pain- they haven't helped. So, I took another clove and peeled it and it is now sitting inside my cheek, resting on the gum and the tooth I think is the culprit- hard to know which is exactly the one as a few of them are throbbing. Well... Amazingly the pain is now greatly reduced! The garlic didn't burn either like some people have reported. Maybe that is cos it is an organic one? I hope this continues to help. I have to try and contact the dentist tommorrow- hopefully they will be open.

Many thanks to those who have posted their experience with garlic- here's to pain free and bacteria free teeth!

Just tried the garlic remedy this morning. I have had tooth pain on and off for the past two weeks. My dentist has changed the filling and the pain was horrible. I was literally doubled over. My first bite of the garlic was excruciating but after about two hours the pain was almost completely gone. My next purchase is colloidal silver. Thank you!!!! :)

Another big YES for garlic for toothache! Woke up in the middle of the night with a painful toothache/inflamed gum area. I didn't have any fresh garlic, so I used garlic powder. Applied a tiny glob of powder with a moistened Q-tip to affected area. There was a burning sensation, and I felt like spitting it out, but didn't. After about 5 minutes or so, felt MUCH better! Hardly any pain now!

Love this site!

Oh wow, I can't believe how well Garlic worked. I've got pretty bad tooth infection so my dentist told me to take penicillin and painkillers for a week before he can pull the tooth.

For some reason painkillers he prescribed me have almost no effect, unless I double the doze and Penicillin takes 1-2 days to even start wokring. I was in horrible pain with stomach full of usless drugs when I found this forum. Needless to say I stuck a garlic glove right in my mouth and let me tell ya, the pain is GONE... almost instantly and swelling seems to be getting better.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I hope I can sleep better tonight :)

I want to second this post! About a week ago, I bit down on my left side and it was painful. I hadn't had any tooth pain, so I was quite suprised. I felt my jaw and noticed it had a good sized lump and it hurt when I put pressure one it. After about two days I noticed it was getting bigger, so I decided to also try the garlic. I slice a small piece and put it between my gum and cheek before I go to bed at night, leaving it all night. I noticed pain relief the first day, and almost all of the swelling is gone after about five days. I'm pleasantly surprised. Thanks again to all that post.
