Yup, garlic works great! I've been using it to control a dental abscess for a while now but I intend to get a root canal ASAP. Or maaaaaybe try to control it with nano silver to avoid the smell and pain and so on of garlic! But anyway... all I do is every 48 hours I take a single medium-sized clove of garlic (small probably is enough too) and crush it up quickly with my teeth on that side of my mouth and then hold the crushed garlic against the abscess for... something like 1 minute and 30 seconds. It hurts but as long as you don't get much of it on your tongue it should be very bearable. I find that too much more than that and I get a very sore cheek and much less and it doesn't work very well. Maybe I could reduce it a little though I'm not sure. Anyway that's my little success story - hopefully it helps someone! :)

OMG, raw garlic clove DEFINITELY works for an infected tooth!! But the burning pain that kicked in after a few seconds was almost unbearable. Held it on the tooth for a minute. Was careful not to let it touch surround gum tissue as I read it can make it raw and burn badly if kept on too long. Improvement overnight. Continuing once a day for several more days. Thumbs up.

Garlic really DOES work for a tooth abscess. It takes 2 to 3 days for it to absorb into your system totally but anyone saying that it doesn't work, didn't use it. You can't just take a garlic pill and expect it to work. You have to use minced or sliced garlic and the swallow it for it to work. You also can't just put a little bit of it in your mouth for 20 minutes and then spit it out and expect a miracle. For anyone to say that it made any infection worse is full of crap. ALL bacteria and ALL viruses, (including all forms of cancer), cannot stand up to raw garlic. They get blindsided by it and die from it. I use it on cuts and infections and they ALWAYS go away. It's NOT different for any individual. It works on everyone the same way. And that means chew it up and swallow 1 tablespoon every 4 hours for at least 7 days for an abscess.

It will take a lot longer for cancer but you have to take it for a lifetime once it's gone, just not near as much and not every day. It also is a mild pain relivier, an appetite suppressant, and helps you lose weight by giving you a higher metabolic rate.

OMG what an amazing treatment!

I want to thank all the posters for their experiences. I tried several things before the freshly crushed garlic clove held next to the toothache area for as long as I could tolerate the burning (about 20-30”).
When I lay down to sleep, I had quite a headache along with the still throbbing toothache. But it's now been about 2 hours later and I want to thank Abba Father God because I feel like a new person. It's just a tiny bit sore now. I hope to wake up in the morning well once again. (PS I swallowed that lg crushed clove with peanut butter.).

Three or four year ago I had a bad infection in the roots of one of my teeth. The tooth involved was directly behind an incisor and I had just had the tooth capped. When I looked at the tooth I saw that my tooth roots could be seen so I thought that this tooth would have to be extracted. The tooth infection was extremely painful for sure.

All I did was to swish my mouth with 1/2 tspn of gum turpentine once or twice a day. Hold the turps in your mouth for at least 2 minutes or for as long as you can. After following this protocol for a only week the pain and infection disappeared. It's now 4 years later and I've had no further trouble with that tooth. The gum portion surrounding the tooth has also actually regrown and healed itself so that the tooth roots are no longer exposed to infection.

I would think that using this same protocol for your tooth abscess problem might help to actually heal it. Perhaps worth a try.

My tooth was clearly abscessed. I've been here before. Took a garlic clove, peeled off the outer layers, rinsed it off with warm water, put it in my mouth and began chewing. I was amazed at what happened. I experienced immediate relief. The best part was my whole body shifted. My mind cleared up and I was no longer in discomfort. That was two days ago. I have repeated the garlic dosing once a day, and will continue to do so. Thank you for the great information.

I can't believe this actually worked!

I woke up yesterday, 1/30/16 in PAIN! Now, I don't do that.. pain to me is hardly ever enough to make me tear up, but I was HURTING! Tried a hot water bottle, a hot shower, and coconut oil. Nothing worked. I'm one of those crazy people who can't take a pill. I have had so many adverse reactions to medications, I refuse to take anything that is OTC or prescribed. I have severe psoriasis also.. Anyways... I had these lumps on my gums that were killing me! I looked for the best home remedy and came across this garlic thing. I am still wowed!

I ALWAYS have fresh garlic on hand, LOVE the stuff! So, I first started off with the "eat a clove" idea. Uh, NOPE! WAY too painful! So then I sliced a clove in several little pieces and placed them where the swelling was. I was happily surprised to notice that the pain went away almost immediately, after the burn. Then, I put a peppermint tea bag (hot) over the big bump and instantly felt this "relief" of pressure.. then spat into the trash can only to see the nastiness release... Later on in the evening, I had more garlic and way less pain! As I was talking on the phone with my daughter, I noticed another "relief" and had to start spitting, again. The blood and pus were flowing.. it was pretty nasty! I finished the night by rinsing my mouth with a well known mouth wash and peroxide then brushing with coconut oil.

My mouth hasn't felt this great in a long time! Thank you EC!!!

Garlic for infected gum, tooth abscess

What a Godsend finding this info! Last couple of days, an infection in my gum suddenly developed(in between 2 molars) and a nasty swelling grew which throbbed and made me feel miserable. I knew that garlic can be helpful but I would never have thought it to be so effective. Late afternoon, and after reading through other's results, I took it in earnest and followed similar protocol. I used about 4 cloves in all, each one minced & taken separately in bit of water - hourly. Also sprayed with CS, also took liposomal vit C, which I happened to have. Went to bed and during the early hours of morning awoke to discover, to my amazement that the swelling had gone! I think it drained itself.I was expecting to have to continue treatment on next day I am so grateful!! I can hardly believe it!

I'm 27 years old this year, I just had the first tooth infection in my life and it's beyond nightmare. I read many reviews here and seems like mine is not as serious, but causes me several sleepless nights. I can only lie down on bed with extreme pain and inflammation in my gum and pray that I can somehow fall asleep. I took paracetamol and antibiotic frequently but at most, it can only cure headache and reduce the inflammation a little. The inflammation would come back within an hour or two before I'm allow to take another round of paracetamol. One night, I even took the first pain killer in my life and hope that the pain will relief a little so that I can sleep. I have totally no mood in doing anything at all after my work. I just want to finish all my stuff and faster go to sleep. I don't have mood to talk to my girlfriend, play game or surf internet.

The strange thing about this infection is that it only happen around evening time. I usually feel slightly uncomfortable in the morning right after I woke up. After I took my usual breakfast and off to work, I felt better. Perhaps it's what people refer it as the circadian rhythm thing. My gum started to act up usually around 4pm to 6pm, and then it worsen, torture me and last till the entire night until I successfully fall asleep. The pain occur around the wisdom tooth at the left side, and it happen on both upper and lower jaw. I got no idea how tooth infection would be because this is my first, I thought it's like regular inflammation that would go away after drinking plenty of water and cool down my body. As a result, it got worsen so much that I can feel that my face area, slightly below my left ear area, was kind of numb and it's like a needle keep poking into it. There was one night when I feel totally numb and stiff on the left side of my face, neck, and extend to shoulder area. In usual night, the inflammation in my gum is so intense that I felt like my gum is very, very swollen. Both my upper and lower tooth basically has no gap in between if I let my mouth close as usual.

I couldn't take anymore sleepless night anymore and since it's worsen instead of going away, I went to the dentist and the dentist told me it's tooth infection in both wisdom tooth on the left side, so both left side wisdom tooth must be extracted to get rid of the infection. I know tooth extraction won't kill me but I'm the ordinary people that afraid of dentist and tooth extraction. My heart was sunken when I heard tooth extraction. Afterwards, a friend of mine whom her mom also work as a dentist told me that the infection usually start from the pulp, which is the inner side of the tooth. Means my tooth probably has hole or cavity and allows bacteria to infect and attack the pulp. Antibiotic, brushing teeth, rinsing with salt water or with the hydrogen peroxide thing can only relief the pain in gum but won't kill the infection completely. So I was convinced and kind of depress that tooth extraction is the only option I had.

Until I spend more time to search for alternate solutions over the internet and came across earth clinic and this post. Without much hesitation after I read the instruction here and the reviews, I go to the kitchen and grab one garlic clove. Place it between my infected wisdom tooth and crush it. At first it's a little spicy, then I can feel the juice is coming out. Rather than natural numbing sensation, I actually felt unbearable sharp burn and sting. Many reviews said they just endure the burn and sting until the pain is gone, but I really couldn't take it and spit out the juice before crushing it for 3 minutes. After that, instead of the usual gum pain, the burning pain is what left in my mouth. My gum is quite painful because of the burning sensation but I guess it's better than the usual infection pain. I did not rinse my mouth with anything and just go to bed.

The next three day, I don't experience much pain anymore. At the 2nd and 3rd day after the garlic treatment, I even had grilled and fried stuff after an entire month of torture and pain in my gum and I feel so good being alive!

But I was wrong that the infection was gone. Few days later, the same pain is back in the middle of a working day and I got serious headache and I almost on a sick leave. I immediately go for garlic again that night and this time, I crush it for as long as I could even if my gum is very, very hurt because of the burning sensation from garlic, and swallow the juice because I read that garlic can also boost immune system. My gum is more hurt for the next few days, but still better than the infection gum pain.

And then I learn that crushing the garlic with teeth and endure the burning is not the only way. Crushing the garlic with your teeth kill the infection that reside in your teeth from the surface, but actually your immune system also need some boosting to strengthen themselves and fight the infections from the inside. And the world is happen to be so wonderful that garlic provide great boost of immunity too. So instead of biting garlic and let the juice burn my gum, I cut 2-3 raw garlic cloves and add into my oat meal, noodles, salad, and anything I can eat with.

But an advice for eating raw garlic, do not cook them because raw garlic contains of the necessary component we need to deal with tooth problem. Once it's cooked, the necessary stuff will be gone.

Now I'm not completely heal yet, as I can still feel slight pain some time. But I'm free to eat whatever beef burger, fried chicken, grilled pork and all foods that I love without experience the pain that I had previously. And best of all, I don't need to go through wisdom tooth extraction, spent large amount of cash on that, and my tooth is saved. Definitely will go to the dentist soon to check up and make sure everything is good.

So thanks earth clinic and all the wonderful reviews here about their experience in using garlic for treatment.

Like many on this board, I came to it after searching for options on 'curing' an abcess rather than having a molar extracted. I have a fear of dentists even at 60, ever since having six teeth extracted when I was about 13, after believing I was in for a filling!

Yesterday, I awoke at 2am with a painful, throbbing gum and excruciating pain whenever anything touched the lower left, filled, molar. I'd also had a headache the previous couple of days which Paracetamol quelled only a little. I was dreading the thought of what was to come, so I tried the Garlic method. I must have gone overboard on the garlic-mash because the burn of raw garlic at one point was worse that the tooth pain! I persevered and, crying tears and dribbling nose, I paced up & down to try to get relief but that garlic stayed on my gums for 30mins before I chewd it up and swallowed the lot. That was about 9am. By 10.30, the burning sensation had abated a little but I noticed less tooth pain and extensive blisters inside my cheek & left side of my tongue, but no throbbing gumline.

I repeated this process again about midday but didn't leave the mash on so long this time but the burn was still evident. Finally, I placed another couple of slivers this time, either side the tooth at bedtime, 10pm and went to sleep. As I write now at 7.45am, I have no gum pain and only a little tooth sensitivity ... and the cheek & tongue blisters ... but none of the intense pain of the previous night AND no headache. I'll continue with the garlic periodically but the method certainly avoided me paying a $6,000 quoted extraction fee (I'm uninsured)!

Thanks to Earth Clinic and all contributors who wrote previously and encouraged me to try the remedy.

So, I've experienced a lot of bad tooth pain in my life, which nothing has ever helped, at a time in my life when I had no money for a private dentist and I couldn't travel to an emergency center, I had intense pain that would make even my eyeballs scream with pain, I tried many things over the years, and today I had the worst toothache of my life and haven't slept a wink all night, at 4am I seriously thought I wasn't going to make it the 4 hours until my private dentist in the area opens up and was considering calling the ambulance, I spotted online someone talking about garlic with salt because of the allicin being an antibiotic, oh my god.. finally something has worked, it took a lot of garlic and an hour of constantly using it but my pain is now just a mild throbbing instead of me laying on the ground feeling sick and moaning and groaning in absolute agony.

THIS WORKS, I still feel sick because of the garlic and salt but I have a smile on my face and feel I can make the next 3 hours till my dentist opens, massive improvement.

I used 4 cloves of garlic in a garlic crusher, 2 pinches of salt and then used the flat side of my knife over and over to create a smooth paste, I placed it directly on the tooth, around the tooth, the gum, everywhere I was effected, please do this next time you have toothache instead of rip off over the counter medicines.

One of my lower jaw first molars (two teeth back from the canine) definitely was abscessed based on the pain/facial-pain and swelling to the point I wanted to run to the dentist to get it yanked to stop the pain and trouble sleeping. I was then convinced to try garlic (as we also do other natural remedies and natural solutions - and I read garlic is many times more potent than any antibiotics), so I put up with the pain for 3 days while taking several spoons of garlic a day (Litehouse brand freeze-dried garlic) with little water and carefully chewed it up in my mouth as it moistens/softens (in between you can also moisten in the cup and then just drink it - but a little right to the tooth and gum is good too), and to that regiment I added bentonite clay (a spoonful in water - swallow most of it but gargle some to get it around your teeth) and I also did a couple warm water salt gargles a day and also resorted to using baking powder for brushing teeth during that time.

Over 3 days of this, the pain and swelling diminished and it all went away by the 4th day or so, and I fully recovered. However, I think that tooth may be cracked, so I've now had two re-occurances (separated by several weeks) and treated it the same way. Trying to locate beef feet which is supposed to help with actually healing teeth (what doctors don't ever tell you) meanwhile I also at beef bone broth daily as part of the regiment though I am not sure if that part helped - but it tasted good and was less chewing.

I had a wisdom tooth that got infected to the point I was nauseous and couldn't sleep or eat. I crushed up some fresh garlic cloves with a very small amount of water, maybe a teaspoon, continued to crush until the garlic was invisible. I used only a teaspoon of the garlic juice to swish in my mouth of the effected area for 1 minute and rinsed out with warm water, with minutes maybe seconds the pain was going down to where I could sleep. I continued to rinse with the same batch the next morning and it continues to heal. I reapeated the process every 20 minutes. I hopes that helps someone.

Garlic is a miracle cure! I've had an abscess above my tooth for a few weeks. I did not want to go to the dentist and get the lecture for something I already know is my fault. I was searching online and came across different sites that had garlic on their list of natural cures. This was the only site where I saw reviews. After reading the reviews and heading the warnings (possible chemical burns), I decided to give it a try. Yes it burned like h***, and I walked around with stinky garlic breath but it worked like a charm. After applying off and on periodically yesterday for as long as I could take the pain, it was half the size it was in the morning and I could see the abscess was draining. By this morning I had one little spot which was gone by the afternoon (rinsed with salt water instead of garlic since I had to go to work). This evening very little pain with the garlic but want to make sure it is healed. I can't believe it but it definitely worked for me.
