Try taking Coconut Oil for Hair Loss!!
When I take 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil, my thin hair instantly becomes smoother & seems thicker - it's incredible! Ihe color even looks darker, too! Just remember to start slow - even 1/4 teaspoon for a week, then slowly increase the dosage. You can get severe Herxheimer reactions (die off) from coconut oil, so please start slow!! Get Virgin coconut oil - if that is too strong for you, try Expeller Pressed.

I have had some success with using Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) topically for hair fall. I was diagnosed with diffused Alopecia areata long ago when my hair loss started at around age 19. My hair loss has slowly progressed for nearly a decade. I usually have increased hair fall in the summer and my scalp is ALWAYS tender. So much so that adding a barette or pulling into a ponytail causes my scalp to hurt so bad it causes headaches. I've tried some EC recommended remedies during this approx 2 month bout of intense shedding.
ACV, BSM, Idoral have not helped. The one thing that has reduced my shedding is applying coconut oil topically. I saturated my scalp, let sit for a couple hours and then attempeted to wash it out. This stuff is not going to wash away easily as my daily rinsing with white vinegar(make hair gorgeous! ) has yet to displace the oil completely. The next day my shedding was GREATLY reduced and is still reduced 3 days later. The downside for me is that I DONT care for my hair texture or the appearance of my hair(greasy) after the VCO application. My scalp sensitivity is also up (sebum cause by the oil?). BUT for those without my AA issues, I recommend highly trying VCO externally for hair shedding.

Regarding organic virgin cold pressed coconut oil, I internally take 3 tsp daily, as well as oil pull with it, and for skin, it is a great makeup remover as well as facial cleanser and moisturizer. For hair, once a month; I saturate my hair (dry hair) with the oil, then wrap in saran wrap and cover with a warm towel for no less than 2hrs.; then wash normally. It is IMO, one of the better oils to use externally, since it absorbs so quickly, and is less damaging than all those nasty chemicals.

Hey Jose from the UK- just make sure that the coconut oil you get says that it's virgin coconut oil or unrefined. You can find coconut oil in health food stores. I know in America they even have them in GNCs. If you go to a store and look at all the different kinds that there are look at the bottom and get the one that is pure white. Some are yellow at the bottom or greyish etc. The purest white one will taste the best and is simply the best to use. If you can't do this. I hope this helps!

I have been taking Coconut Oil for my hair loss as well, for the past month. My hair seems much thicker. My body temperature is much better too. I Love it! I feel like a new person. I have so much energy. In fact, I have to take my three tablespoons in the morning, or I have trouble sleeping at night.

I have used coconut oil for many years. I learned this from my aunt who was noticing her hair was falling out more than usual so she starting using it on her scalp and hair and it not only stopped her hair loss, but actually made her hair grow strong, abundant and shiny so I started using it myself. Needless to say I have really thick strong, to much hair actually.

Hey Laurie! I see that no one has answered your post and thought I would. Coconut oil is really good to grow back your hair. It's really easy. Just get some virgin coconut oil and just lather it up on the scalp. All you have to do is to make sure you rub it on the scalp. Also if you want to double it up I like to also use aloe vera for my hair to make it nice and shiny and for hair lost. I hope this helps! As far as how often I think it depends on the person. I've only done this maybe about five or 6 times in the past year and my hair is a lot fuller. I would try maybe once a week on the weekend or once a month. Also make sure to leave it for an hour or two so it really is absorbed by the scalp.

Coconut Oil for Hypothyroid patients: I heard that virgin coconut oil was a good supplement for people suffering with hypothyroidism. I went to a natural food market and bought a jar of it. That was 2 months ago and I have gone back to buy more several times. I am taking 3 tablespoons in the morning. It has not helped with my weight although I know a few people who used it and lost weight immediately. It has stopped my hair loss (it use to fall out by the handful) and in fact not only is my hair thicker but my eyebrows are growing back. I no longer have cold hands and feet either. It doesn't cure thyroid problems but it certainly is a great supplement to help with the effects of the disease.

ON THE POSTS ACV AND COCONUT OIL FOR HAIR LOSS< NEITHER EXPLAINED EXACTLY THE METHOD OR QUANTITY OR INTERNALLY. OR EXTERNALLY APPLIED. BE SPECIFIC. THANKS, MIKE
EC: When a post mentions tablespoons, it is usually an internal dosage.

The reason that she mentions her eyebrows getting thicker is that thinning eyebrows is a sign of hypothyroidism, and coconut oil is one remedy that people use in order to help correct thyroid imbalances. Your thyroid helps to regulate your metabolism as well, so taking coconut oil internally can help your thyroid function better, and therefore raising your temperature to a more normal 98.6 F if it was too low. However, if you should have a mustache, then it can also help with fungal problems that can cause hair loss. You shouldn't have any need to worry that CO will cause unwanted hair growth.

I started using VCO 3 weeks ago for hair loss. Well in that time I have seen a dramatic difference in my hair plus my hot flashes are decreasing. Now there are only 2 a week. My energy level has increased, my insomnia is gone and my mood is alot better, also my moisture has increased in my whole body. I can't wait to see what happens in 6 months. I take 3 tbsp. a day.

You can apply the coconut oil to your scalp when it's dry, let it absorb for about an hour or two and then get into shower. You do not need to use the conditioner after shampoo. Coconut oil is a very good conditioner too.
On the other hand, you can eat/drink two to three spoonfuls everyday. But, I believe doing both is a sure shot way.
Cold Showers

Hair Loss:
I had the same symptoms. I remembered then that hot water is for cleaning but COLD water is for toning and healing for such things. Slowly turn the shower head to cold as you wet your hair (make sure you are not feeling chilled at the beginning) try cold water for about one to two minutes, then towel dry. Remain in temperate surroundings and repeat the towel drying process until you know you could not catch cold.
Repeat this procedure and you will feel the wonderful effects of natural treatment and increased blood circulation and a feeling of well being.
In addition I use urea with great benefit. This is, however not for those that do not know anything about it. I also use coconut oil, undiluted ACV, and colloidal silver in case there might be a parasite infestation. In addition I chew soaked fenugreek seeds, a good teasp. Daily for diabetes but it makes also the hair grow. This may take some months as the action is at first in the hair follicles. Good luck and patience. The itching and burning disappeared quickly at the outset. Om

I started a regime of diatomaceous earth recently and within 10 days began to see it's effect: my hair, which tends to get dry and therefore frizzy easily, now feels silky. The frizziness has almost disappeared. We are having a warm spell here and my hair would have usually been an untidy mess. Instead, it is calm, smooth, and shiny, even after spin class! I am also losing less hair when I shampoo, which is amazing. I also have more energy, no more of that late afternoon slump, and best of all, I am losing weight. That could also be because of me spending longer time exercising due to increased energy, lol. I have a heaping tablespoon in the morning and evening, blended in water. It's easy to swallow with no strong flavor or smell. Thanks again and Merry Christmas to you and everyone at Earth Clinic!

For the last 5 years when I see clients coming in with good hair I ask what they eat... So 90% consistent with good head of hair is..... A daily consumption of apples, oatmeal, milk, peanuts, dark leafy greens. This is really interesting too.... all of them had cooler body temperature...
Question: I may have hyperthyroidism and noticed when I take zinc my scalp feels better. Any thoughts?
Edgar Cayce's Hair Loss Remedies
★★★★★
This is a remedy from Edgar Cayce who was a medical intuit and some say a prophet. He could put himself into a trance and offer advice to people on healings. I read it today and thought I would post it here. This is the question asked of him:
(R) How may I promote the growth of new hair on my head?
(B) Eat more shell fish and rub same with a few coffee grounds occasionally.
Perhaps any males out there (or females) could try this and report back?

I can't speak to Edgar Cayce specifically, but this remedy did peak my interest. I have been losing hair by the handful since I can remember, at least all of my adult life, and I am 53. It suddenly stopped recently. I have been trying to figure out what I have been doing differently that has made the difference. I have been taking multiple supplements for years, added some, stopped some, but I couldn't think of anything that I had started just prior to my windfall (or should I say lack of hairfall).
But one thing I did consider, I have been eating shrimp maybe a couple of times a week for about the past year. Then I saw the post about Edgar Cayce's remedy. We may be onto something here. I have not tried the coffee, so I cannot speak to that. I had also been supplementing with kelp, and doing occasional iodine painting. But maybe the iodine in the natural form is the key.

Hi Mary (from Rural, Va), As hair loss can be a symptom of iodine deficiency I think you have found your answer, congratulations. With shrimp and kelp containing iodine plus the iodine painting you are correcting your deficiency. Could you please tell me which form of iodine you are using for the painting? Thanks.

I have been losing hair for the last several years and I am slowly balding. I started taking a coconut oil supplement lately and hope it will help. I stopped using iodized salt several years ago too. Could doing this create an iodine deficiency? Also, I use to eat shrimp quite often, but have eaten very little in the last couple of years.
Edgar Cayce's Hair Loss Remedies

I am female, 58 years old, and I always had thin, fine hair that became thinner as I got older until you could easily see my scalp throught the hair in the front and the crown of my head. About 3 years ago, I started using Pennsylvania crude oil per Edgar Cayce's protocol and I am still amazed as my hair just gets thicker every month; new growth is constant. I have never had hair like this, even as a child. I was always self-conscious about my hair (vanity?)and used any means possible to make it look thicker; perms, coloring, teasing. I feel great about the way my hair looks for the first time ever (I can remember sending nightly prayers as a child for pretty hair). I just want to tell everyone I see with thinning hair about it! I don't very often, though, unless asked. I have told several hairdressers so that they could share it with their customers; suprisingly, only one of them showed any interest. There are about 6 recommended steps to the protocol, including an herbal tonic and massaging with petroleum jelly. I started with just the petroleum jelly for financial reasons, and I saw rapid improvement in just a few weeks. Then I added the crude oil and the herbal tonic and I have been using those three since then. I use the oil followed by the petroleum jelly once a week and the tonic once a day. The instructions on his site are clear and you can also see the products if you look on his website for companies who make and sell products made with Edgar Cayce formulas. I had to write because I have used many remedies from this website and I am very grateful that you are here, all of you!! Namaste.

Yes it works! I don't even know how long I have been using the crude oil, Vaseline, massage, and shampoos - 15-20 years or so! It has made my hair not fall out but it never changed the appearance. Two months ago, I got the tonic and now my hair is growing faster, it use to be so thin, but now it is thicker, I don't need to use hair spray anymore either! If I want to curl it, I curl it and it stays curled! It is amazing that for as long as I have studied the Cayce readings (25 years) that I never tried the tonic!! I would suggest it to anyone who is having hair loss. If you start with his remedies right when you notice the hair loss, it would be better. If you wait until it all falls out, it may be too late.
The formula has the following ingredients:Lactated Pepsin, Black Snake Root Extract, Essence of Wild Ginseng, Atomic Iodine, Extract of Liver, and Grain Alcohol. It can be found online or at a health food store.

If you go to the Foxfire book, volume 3, there is an old folk remedy that my father used - burnt car oil, on dogs who had skin conditions. Dad used it on several dogs back in the late 60's and 70's. The dogs would stop itching and their hair would grow out. Back then, the dogs ran all over the place....country life. We didn't have money or resources so, the Foxfire book was the go-to for old time remedies and cures. This oil method always worked for the dogs. My point? Edgar Cayce's crude oil treatment most probably works very well for hair loss. Good luck!

WARNING!
Today's crude oil is very different and would be corrosive to the skin, the eyes and more delicate areas. This was discussed some time ago on EC.
Just ask people who have been overcome in oil spills. In short, please research first. Fifty years ago many things were harmless in comparison.

Dear Sue,
Castor Oil has been used by many to help with hair growth. I try to do this once a month and it seems to have made a difference for me, though it has taken some time to be noticeable.
About once a month, I put castor oil (cold pressed or expeller pressed, hexane free) on my scalp. I use a small squeeze bottle and apply the oil to just my scalp and massage it into my scalp. I wrap my head in a towel and leave it over night. In the morning, I wash my hair twice.
Some use Black Castor Oil the same way.
