I get magnesium oil from Swanson for $8.99 for 8 ounces. They also have a half gallon for $39.99 or if you buy 3 of the 8 ounces bottles it is $19.99. I mix it half and half with Concentrace brand Trace Mineral Drops and spray it on painful spots on my body. I have ankylosing spondylitis and fibromyalgia, so I have a lot of painful spots. I get a lot of pain relief from the mixture. It stings and itches, but I try to wait at least 10 or 20 minutes before I shower it off. After the shower I feel like I just got out of hot springs, which was my goal in trying this. My chiropractor is getting more areas of my spine to adjust than he has in years.

Dear Veronica, My heart goes out to you after reading your post and I can only imagine the battle your fighting. Please don't give up. Scour this web site and implement the health tips as much as possible, and also, know that just as God gave us a wealth of natural cures, He also wants to see you healed. He is good all the time. Seek him like you seek the cures for your afflictions and both will be found. I am praying for your healing.

Boron
Posted by Ray (Calgary, Alberta) on 12/30/2012

Boron is a chemical element that sits next to carbon in the periodic table of elements.

Borax is a form of sodium borate (2 sodiums, 4 borons, and 7 oxygen atoms) surrounded by 10 water molecules.

The boron you get at health stores is usually boron gylcinate, meaning the boron is chelated (bound to the small amino acid glycine, the smallest amino acid). The theory is that the body is "tricked" to treat the substance as if it has ingested a tiny protein (made of amino acids) and so should absorb the boron better than if it were just some inorganic (rock-like) chemicals. (Borax is mined from the ground). Once this is in the body the body cells are supposed to separate the boron out from the amino acid and use it. By contrast if "inorganic" boron were used it is "thought" that in the gut the sodium borate would react with other substances and form some substance that might never even make it out of the gut and into the body proper.

But there are really very little studies to show that the better absorption "theory" actually works. Or that the boron really ends up free from the amino acid. Sometimes chelated minerals are better absorbed, sometimes worse, sometimes the same and often only marginally better than salt forms of the minerals. So bottom line: the Boron tablets are probably just as good as cheap borax.

Plus we don't know here if the medicinal effect is in the gut or in the body spaces or cells. Perhaps the borax is just doing its work solely in the gut. Or maybe some of the sodium borate does get into the blood. More research is needed. But, inversely, there is no reason, at the moment, to say that boron from borax is better used by the body than boron from boron glycinate (health store tablets). But perhaps here, we should look at the medical as opposed to nutritive use of the substance. Maybe, we are looking at some effect, not of boron, but of the sodium borate.

Dear Sandy: Two things that are effective against pain is DMSO and MSM. It takes about a week to noticeably reduce pain and most effective after 2 weeks and maintaining that dose helps. Magnesium (no calcium) and hyaluronate should deal with other pain. Any additional information is welcomed. Ted

Been taking DMSO 1/2 tsp in water at night, 5 drops lugols iodine in water in the morning and 1/4 tsp of borax in a liter of water throughout the day. I really noticed my energy level Go up and I could think better....Kind of like the brain fog has lifted. My joints and muscle stiffness has improved. I still have a hard time sleeping comfortably as it has improved just a little.

Suffering from Fibromyalgia myself, I have been treated with such disdain from friends and family members. I agree we cannot dismiss what people are going through. I mean I have and will try supplements, changes in diet, choose or not choose prescribed medications, but over time, I am not finding anything that will get me to the point of being able to go back to work. There is no cure for something we do not understand. If cutting things out like sweetners and processed foods was the true and only answer, I wouldn't continue having the pains and fatigue I am now. I guess what I am saying is we already feel ostracized by society and even friends and family, we need people to be more mindful of what they say and how they say it.

"...G. D. Searle applied for the first FDA approval of aspartame on March 5, 1973, and Dr. Martha M. Freeman of the FDA Division of Metabolic and Endocrine Drug Products was not impressed. In an FDA memorandum, she expressed her concern with the studies conducted, especially the single dose studies. According to Dr. Freeman, results from single dose testing could not generate accurate predictions of regular consumption. Freeman concluded that the information submitted was insufficient evidence of clinical safety.16 In 1974, the FDA rejected Freeman's recommendation and approved aspartame for use in dry foods."

Vitamin D

Is is necessary to have a test to establish the existing level of vitamin D3, (cholecalciferol). Dr.s Joseph Mercola, at www.mercola.com John Cannell, at http://vitaminDcouncil.org and Ben Kim at www.drbenkim.com all agree on the optimal range for vitamin D, which is 45 - 52 ng/ml, or 115 - 128 nmol/l.

I suggest that you check out those websites, and enter "vitamin D3; testing" in the searchbar at Mercola.com, then "vitamin D3; 1 hour lecture" and view it.

Good levels of magnesium, calcium, vitamin K2, and zinc are required for maximum utilisation of vitamin D3, so it is a good idea to have your levels of them checked, and supplemented, if necessary.

Google: "vitamin D3; natural sources; supplies" if not relying on sunlight, or appropriate artificial lights.

I have been in so much pain with FM. Reading your message about feeling poisoned just hit me. I told my doctor that I felt poisoned just the other day. I also eat alot of food in the mirowave that are in plastic. I bought a bottle for water but the rim had some kind of metal and my mouth got sore. I have gotten sick to my stomach drinking bottled water in plastic. Didn't think it was the water until I quit and started drinking out of a glass and felt different. I have tried all the conventional way but still in pain. I am for sure going to make some changes about what is plastic in my life. I am for sure going to change cleaning products. I have muscle spasms in my body as well neck, back, legs, head to toe. Something needs to change and I hope that is it. Thanks for the heads up about the change in your environment.

Magnesium, Malic Acid

I have been using magnesium with malic acid every day for 7 months. I can tell you that magnesium with malic acid definitely helps with my pain, most particularly in my arms. I have tried not taking it for a few days here and there, and there is no doubt in my mind that it's helping. Since it appears many Americans are magnesium deficient and that most multi-vitamins don't contain enough magnesium, if any, I'm going to keep this in my supplement regime FOREVER.

I have fibromyalgia and have been taking Diatomaceouls Earth for almost 2 weeks. It is definitly doing something positive for me. First I noticed a huge change in my foot problem that has plagued me for 4 years. I have woke up stiff, but that is different too. I don't know how to describe it except that the stiffness is not to the bone and all encompasing as before. I am so hopeful that I may continue to improve. If it is possible different factors contribute to Fibro for different people, I guess different results could be experienced from individuals also. My experience would lead me to suggest, try it and see how your body responds if you suffer any joint or fibro pain. Good luck to you all!

Robyn, I have been taking a multi-pronged approach of destroying biofilms that pathogens hide in with enzymes, boosting the immune system with IP6 inositol, AHCC, vitamins D, E, A, B's, zinc, E, taking thieves oil internally & applying externally, detoxing metals with sodium thiosulfate & DMSA, etc. I'm not 100% but I think I'm making a slow but sure recovery. I used to be so bad that I thought I was dying and now I can go hiking. I also drink borax as suggested on the site, and ACV baking soda. I'm not sure if the ACV baking soda does anything. Oh, my gosh! Start taking 20,000 IU's of Vitamin D3 a day - do this right away. I had so many of your symptoms plus numb toes, constant earaches, arthritis. You name it, I had it. I went to my doctor just in time because he had gone to a seminar on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. He says that they have linked Vitamin D as one of the leading causes for these illnesses. The lowest Vitamin D level that you should have in your body is 30. Mine was almost at 8. My doctor was so alarmed that he called me on the Saturday right after Thanksgiving. I can't tell you how much better I feel. No more numb toes, earaches, severe aches and pains at allllllll of my joints, no more feeling like I constantly have the flu. I am so surprised at how much better I feel. I actually had to start out with 50,000 IU's a day for a month. Now I am down to 20,000 a day. And, in the winter I use a Happy Light. I love it!!! Hope this helps.

I've had CFS for about 6 years and in the past few months I've made a remarkable recovery. In my case underlying causes were food sensitivities (dairy and corn) and PBB poisoning as well as metal toxicity. In Michigan in the 70s a chemical company accidentally dumped PBB into cattle feed and it got into the food chain. Working with my kinesiologist I've done a lot of detoxing and now am up to about 75% of the energy I used to have. I got rid of my aluminum cookware. This year I'll have my metal (mercury) fillings replaced. The headaches and other conditions like IBS are gone. CFS and fibromyalgia seem to be related to the body being filled with toxins more than its able to handle. That explains why conventional medicine can't figure out what the cause it -- it's a different set of causes for every individual. Still, anything you can to do detox should help, and look for food intolerances as well.

As far as I have heard no "filter" can take out Fluoride. Thus if somebody says their filter "delivers a safe level of fluoride" then they are probably just playing with words, meaning they just delivering, unfiltered, straight through to you, the fluoride that is in the water, which they consider to be safe, with "safe" as determined by government regulations and specifications (if there are any). (small comfort.)

The only way to get fluoride-free wate is distillation and reverse-osmosis. If you want to get fluoride out of your water then you should investigate a reverse-osmosis or distillation system, and leave filters to those who blindly accept pat vague phrases.

Even the health stores do this word play game. For example I recently went to get fish oil and found they all were flavored, apple, orange, etc. I read the ingredient list to find some mysterious ingredient called "natural flavor. " Now what is that? Why all the mystery? If it is apple flavor in apple fish oil then what not say "apple peel" or "apple juice" or so on. Why some vague words like "natural flavor?" Obviously to hide what is in it. MSG is "natural" and so is fluoride. So "natural" is a meaningless word. Why are health food companies playing such word games? Why are health food stores accepting products that play such word games. I refused to buy it, saying I don't want additives in my fish oil and the person at the health store even swore left and right that it was not an additive! As if fish come with apples stuck in their mouths. It looks to me like something was added, and that makes it an add-itive. Just because it is a health food store, or a water filter company, doesn't mean you should blindly trust them. It doesn't mean they care about your health. Ask for things in writing. And reject vague words and double-talk.

So don't be blindsided by water filter companies and their word games. Ask to see proof if they claim it takes out fluoride, or any other thing. Look for the word "removes" or "takes out" and not just vague words like "delivers a safe level."

I agree that FLORIDE is a problem with our health, and I do have fibromyalgia.

I drink spring water.

I have noticed that the only things people are talking about is drinking water, but you get much more fluoride in your body when you bathe than you do from drinking. Especially if you are like me and love a long hot soak to ease your painful muscles. Also, when you brush your teeth you need a bottle of water so you won't use the city water with fluoride. Same applies to cooking. I hope people are still following this thread.

Two of my kids have 'tried' to come down with colds during the last two weeks. When my son's hit, he was coughing so hard he was nearly vomiting. My daughter woke up coughing, a very sore throat and her voice was almost gone. Usually I have them do the inhaling of peroxide a few times a day and give them at least 1/4 cup of organic vinegar with 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, a little cinnamon and water each day. This time I added Borax water (1/8 teaspoon to 1 liter of water) to the mix-and their colds were gone in less than 12 hours. No one was more stunned than I was that it worked so fast! But I shouldn't have been surprised. I have had painful joints from fibromyalgia for years, but sometimes the pain in my right shoulder is almost unbearable (I'm right-handed). The last flare had been going on about 2 months and I was getting very little sleep, which was what spurred my finally giving in and trying the Borax. Within three days the severe pain was gone and I was back to just the normal pain! Now I just need to make myself drink it EVERY day and maybe all the pain will go away.

But, back to the original subject, everyone says there is no cure for the common cold. After what we saw earlier this month, I have to disagree!

Floride is also in Air pollution. If you do some internet searches you can easily verify this. It is interesting to note that floride used to be used to treat hyperthyroidism. An estimated 90% of fibro patients are hypothyroid, so floride is an adverse insult to the system. A hypothyroid patient with exposures to floride is being dirven further into a thyroid hormone deficient state.

Bromine, Fluorine, Chlorine & Iodine are all in the class on the periodic table. Iodine is what our bodies need in every cell and it is especially important to the Endocrine system, Thyroid etc. The other 3 elements take the place of Iodine in numerous situations in our bodies and we suffer ... So your 21st century likely has Chlorine from water, bleach etc, Bromine from Bleached Flour, fire retardents etc, Fluorine from toothpaste mouthwash and so forth all of which will be pushed out when you take in Iodine so you have to do it slowly over time so the boidy can eleminate. Good post Robert, on a big item issue many folks are facing. Many thanks to E.C. contributor Bill for posting so much good info and advise on using Lugol's Iodine.

Some points to add. To reduce the Iodine competitors, it is very important to install a whole house filter, or drinking water filter, and shower-head filter. Floride in tap or utility water is quite toxic. I found regular carbon filter was not sufficient in removing the floride so I filter then Ozonate and can feel the difference. Public swimming pools and spas are also a big source of chlorine or bromine.

To detoxify these Iodine competitors, take a warm or hot bath with a spoon of Sodium Thiosulfate for 30+ minutes. Sodium Thiosulfate is good for removing that bad elements in the body or in drinking or bathing water, but also reduces the good Iodine, so I would advise any method of high-end water purification.

Kelp Tablets may be used on a daily basis and the higher potency Iodine supplements used periodically. Some concern on radioactive Iodine in sea veggies like Kelp so one may need to research that. Some areas have little and some lots of radioactivity from Fukushima fallout. Scottish Kelp is said to be a good source.

These are good tips on this page. Fibromyalgia seems to have a better response when alternative (more holistic) therapies are used and it takes time to "undo" the damage that has accumulated. My experience shows that by avoiding drugs, you can recover faster (and reverse fibromyalgia). Here's what I did:

I turned to yoga (very low impact, what seniors and bedridden people might do). With that circulation in the muscles improves and toxicity is also expelled. Diet is very important (avoid milk, sugars and refined products). I believe the candida diet helps to give your whole immune system a break so that it can heal naturally. Detoxification with herbs is also important to get rid of the toxins that have accumulated in the body (no side effects with these). If there is depression, add B vitamins to combat it and also read positive materials and keep in the company of positive and supportive people. Remember that thoughts are temporary and can change (do not give them importance as they will change eventually!) Be strong internally....you can reverse this condition. Do not underestimate the healing power of REST. The body lets you know when you need it (just listen!) High energy vitamins and supplementation of magnesium helped me as well. Acupuncture helps to get rid of pain and restore energy flow to help it get balanced (pick someone good!) Deal with your emotions and let go of whatever you are holding on to. Be good to yourself. Forgive yourself and others around you and see the power of healing (be receptive) change your condition. I was diagnosed almost two years ago, came off all medication within two months after beginning yoga. Turning to natural alternatives has improved/practically reversed this condition. I can now think about going back to work. Find a good naturopathic doctor who has worked with fibromyalgia.

I wonder if there would be any harm in doing it every day for the first few weeks. I've tried several new remedies in the last 2 weeks so it may be difficult to know exactly which one is really working but I will share feedback soon. Oh, I should mention I ordered the 6" swaps too and would suggest to anyone else.

I had gout in 2005 lasted 6 weeks before I went to the Dr. he said it was gout. Wrote me a script. NOT MUCH was on the internet back then about home remedies. On a DEEP DIVE I saw someone charging for a cure. I kept searching and found it FREE!

Backing soda and water. YES!! FOR ME in 3 days of twice a day, 1 level teaspoon in water morning and late afternoon fixed 6 weeks of horrible pain in 3 days!!

Another time few years ago pre KETO way of life I was suffering from horrible Fibro pain, worse EVER! Finally went to the Dr she said its my new normal. I said NO WAY, I will surely die!! SO going home defeated, I remembered the gout pain years before. I realize after searching you can get gout everywhere. SO I tried my home remedy. THIS TIME it took a little over a week of 2 a day baking soda and water. IT WORKED THANK GOD!!

I then started Keto way of life, I don't care what anyone says, for me gout is from lots of carbs, like starches and sugars and grains. Since being KETO I do fall off the wagon sometimes but over all my body fibro and CFS issues are WAY BETTER FOR ME! GODSPEED everyone.

Test for Ehler's Danlos Disease, Type III
Posted by Priscilla (Birmingham, Al) on 02/16/2016
★★★★☆

Hi. I'm new to Earth Clinic and think it's a great way to find information on Chronic Fatigue and other diseases.

I'm a 55 year old woman, with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; also multiple injuries (3 ruptures discs; ) history of endometriosis, etc. My medical history was long and extensive-including 8 surgeries; a visit to Mayo clinic, etc.

Eventually, I added an FMS specialist to my pain management physician, and PT. Interestingly enough, he found the cause of my CFS, FMS, etc. I have a genetic disease, Ehler's Danlos Disease, type III. This explained all my diagnoses. Then my rheumatologist suggested a clinical trial of Famciclovir 250 mg., three times a day.

By the way, my history includes Epstein Barr disease, several years before my symptoms started. The Famciclovir is supposed to bolster the immune system.

I was quite skeptical, but tried it. Three years late, I'm taking mostly Advil, instead of daily Rx pain meds. I use those only occasionally, now. Supplements helping include: Magnesium Malate; D3; and D-Ribose.

I am able to exercise now-without hat automatically throwing me into a flare. I haven't had a real flare in three years. Sleep better, less brain fog, also.

So, my comfort level is much better, and disability less. There is no genetic cure for EDS III at this time, but the : clinical trial; Advil (joint and back pain, ) and neuropathy meds. (Lyrics;) plus gentle PT have helped. My family has been supportive, as well as friends as church.

Overall, I'm much better compared to ten years ago. My FMS Rheumatologist (and the research) tell me that my disease is sometimes the cause of FMS and or CFS. Having the correct diagnosis is critical in determining treatment.

General information about EDSIII is available online. A Rheumatologist who specializes in FMS can make the diagnosis. He/she can then determine treatment, if you have it.

So, if there is a question that EDSIII might be the primary cause of CFS or FMS, I would strongly recommend seeing one. My life has improved a lot since I started seeing the rheumatologist, and continues to improve.

MSM, Oil of Oregano
Posted by Linda (Ohio, US) on 07/07/2014
★★★★☆

About 1 1/2 years ago I woke up on my back in bed with my legs extended straight out. I bent my knees and screamed out loud in agony at the pain. I did NOT have any knee pain prior to going to sleep the night before. I could barely walk. Then things got worse. My lower back and upper back had "pockets" of what felt like something bulging under the skin. My son could feel this "pocket of something' when he massaged my legs and back. It was not my imagination.

Then my upper arms hurt horribly. I could not pick up even a coffee cup due to the pain. Then I could not lower myself onto the toilet without screaming in pain or get up either. Taking a bath was a nightmare as well getting in and out of the tub. I went on like this for a good 6 months getting worse every day. I did try everything under the sun for relief. Even using capsacian alcohol rub mixed with DMSO, and other things heated up and used in a very hot compress on the bad areas of my body. That did not help. At the same time my adult son had a horrible pain in his right groin area including his testes. This pain comes and goes for him.

I was able to consult with a former scientist in Russia (friend of son) who has this same problem. He insisted it was an introduced bacterial infection which would make sense as the affected areas would move around my body. The only way I can expel this bacteria is to cough up very, very thick mucus which reminds me of rubber peanuts.

After much trial and error I have hit upon a regieme of home medications that have worked for me. I take MSM capsules 1,000MG two at a time several times a day. I also have been using oil of oregano drops in chocolate milk (only thing I can stand to cut the oregano burn and taste) 2 times a day. I started with 2 drops and then worked up to 5 or 6 drops per cup of milk. I know when I use too many drops as my whole system feels like it's onfire - then I drop back to 2 or 3 drops and feel okay.

At night I feel I can run a marathon or do stuff that I can not do in the daytime. I got so bad I could NOT even roll over in bed as it hurt so much!!! Staying in bed is not the answer either. I walk to the mailbox when I first get up and that seems to help. My lower back hurts when I get up as it seems the bacteria has settled there overnight. My upper thighs hurt horribly on the outside area when I walk most times. My chest hurts horribly when I cough or sneeze as I must in the morning to cough out the goo. I go to bed feeling fine some nights and wake up a royal mess the next day having done nothing out of the ordinary. I can't even walk around most stores to shop as I hurt horribly. Getting up into my old Jeep is an event as well as I must hoist myself up by the steering wheel. Going up and down stairs is mostly a very painful experience.

About 6 months ago my son's inner thigh hurt so much to walk he had to use a cane and he's only 30 years old!! He can't take MSM as he literally can't get to sleep for several days after taking one pill!! Fortunately for me I can take all I want of this stuff and it does not bother me with any ill side effects.

His inner thigh groin pain comes and goes. My "bacteria" comes and goes. Some days I'm a royal mess and then others I can walk up and down stairs and walk okay to some extent with no problems. I think the connection to fluoride is not applicable to me or my son as we were not exposed to any water source that had this in it. Where I live is well water. We also use nonfluoride toothpaste so I am really stumped where we "got" this from. We were both ill with the flu right after my knees in bed incident though and my Russian friend thinks the bacteria entered my body and mutated then from the flu germs. My son had his groin problem after we were ill with the flu. My bacteria problem got horribly worse as well after we had the flu. I am now 67 and my son is 31. We have severe bouts of horrible lethargy with no enthusiasm to do much of anything some days.

I did try ACV and borax and baking soda and all that did to me was make me ill. When my body is ridding itself of the bacteria I get horrible bouts of indigestion to the point where anything including plain water gives me indigestion!!!

I refuse to see a doctor as my Russian friend said when he went to the doctors all they did was pump him full of extra strength antibiotics which worked until he stopped taking them as he took too many of them. He can't take MSM either. They insisted he had fibro and he insisted he had a bacterial infection. I don't have Medicare and don't want it just to have the doctors perform all sorts of tests on me to tell me they "think" I have fibro.

I'm doing fine on the MSM and oil of oregano drops every day and will continue with that regieme until I find something else to take.

Remedy: Minocin
Ailment: Fibromylagia

I had Fibromyalgia for over 30 years with my CFIDS/ME. About 15 years ago, I was researching and came across researchers using Minocycline for Lupus. I was also looking at the Garth Nicholson protocol.

I decided to try Minocin which is the brand name for generic minocycline. Almost within 2 days, my fibromylagia symptoms started to melted away. I got some more minocycline prescriptions but my progress reversed.

I decided to go back to minocin and my progress continued. It seems many minocyclines batches are of bad quality. After a while I didn't need it anymore. Fifteen years later and my fibromyalgia is controlled and I sleep well so I still don't need the minocin anymore.

This is my recommendation. You could bypass a doctor presciption by buying and test the antibiotic minocycline from a pet supply place. This is low cost route also. Take bromelaine with it. This is very important. Bromelain increases the effectiveness of antibiotics so may be strong enough to work or give you a good enough indication of it's effectiveness. It also will prevent resistance since it removes any protective sheath from bacteria. If that doesn't work, you could optionally ask a doctor for a test prescription just to see if it works.

I tolerate that antibiotic very well so never run into any problems. I took it for two years to test it against CFIDS/ME. It is suppose to cross the blood brain barrier the best. You will likely know pretty quickly also. Always take Bromelaine with antibiotics. There may be a more natural antibiotic out there so this could be starting point.

Forget about what those mainstream doctors say. The cause of Fibromyalgia is some type of infection. Claiming that it is a defect in some muscles is absurd.

You do not need a prescription for bromelain. It is natural, from pineapple. You can buy it in a health shop or cheaper from amazon, ebay etc.

I want to tell you my story of how I developed FMS, and what has and has not helped me with my fibromyalgia.

I slowly developed some of the symptoms of fibromyalgia (IBS, dermatitis, allodynia, aneamia, low immunity, PMS and irregular, painful menses, etc. ) throughout my childhood until I became very ill at the age of 16, also developing chronic muscular and joint pain, extreme fatigue, brain fog, weakness and a host of other symptoms. I now believe the onset was gradual due to a slowly worsening condition of my gut, partially thanks to the frequent use of antibiotics (as I was often very sick as a child) without probiotics (my parents gave me Yakult to drink for probiotics, unaware of the fact that I was lactose-intolerant and never drank the stuff because it made me feel sick).

Over the next 2 years, I slowly began figuring out which treatments help me to manage the condition: occupational therapy, physiotherapy, not eating foods I was intolerant to, using the right skincare products, gentle exercise and mindfulness meditation. I highly recommend all these treatments. I experimented with fluoride toothpaste and fluoride-free toothpaste for a few months and decided that fluoride definitely brought on intense flare-ups. I now use organic toothpaste, which is expensive but worth it. A cheaper alternative is one of the Sensodyne toothpastes - the one which uses strontium chloride instead of fluoride. I noticed no negative effects from using that. I grew up drinking rain water but whenever I drink tap water I have to filter it or it makes me sick. As far as skincare products go, I recommend MooGoo or ecopure.

BUT in the last couple months, I have discovered the most helpful remedy yet: the Leaky Gut Cure Program by Karen Brimeyer. She proposes that leaky gut can cause fibromyalgia, and that by following her program leaky gut can be healed. (This is a similar theory and treatment to GAPS, but it is a lot cheaper to buy Karen's program than to follow the GAPS program. )The program involves eating certain foods, avoiding certain foods, reducing toxins in your household products and clothing, and following healthy lifestyle practices, such as observing appropriate sleep hygiene and many other things. It also involves supporting your adrenal glands, ridding your body of pathogens and healing the lining of the gut through supplementation. I had read and tried many other similar programs in naturopath books, which only seemed to make me sicker. But this program makes me feel better, not worse, and I can assure you that it is perfectly nutritionally balanced. My pain has decreased (I no longer take pain medications), I can think more clearly, I am sleeping much more soundly and feel refreshed when I awake (rather than stiff, sore and exhausted), I have been feeling a lot more energetic and people are saying that I look really well. And I tell them that it is because I feel really well! I have never felt so alive in all my life!

I cannot give exact details of the program here due to copyright issues, but I will tell you that Karen Brimeyer's program is surprisingly cheap and can be found at www.leakygutcure.com. Anyone with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue or IBS should google GAPS to see if they think that they suffer from it - and if they think it likely that they do, they should try the leaky gut cure for at least a week. Even if it can not cure everyone with FMS, I am sure that it can help many people with it - so it is definitely worth a try!

I now feel confident that I am healthy enough to continue with my university degree and work a part-time job too!

I hope that at least one person reads my post, tries the leaky gut cure and becomes healthy and energetic!

My mom has suffered from fibromyaliga for about 20 years. Mostly in the form of pain in her back and shoulders, with bouts of chronic fatigue. Took Hydrocodone for all that time and just suffered through it, continuing to work because she loves her job as manager of a health food store. Has tried every herbal remedy out there (she's very knowledgeable and best friend is an ND), and some other alternative therapies such as acupuncture and detoxing through the feet. Some things gave temporary relief but that was all.

I've believed for many years that the root cause for all her problems were emotions she had not dealt with. My mom is a pacifist (sometimes passive aggressive but hates confrontation), and has a background of abuse and feeling unloved and unsupported, with the exception of us kids. Her symptoms all began after we all moved "out of the nest". In the following years I noticed that symptoms worsened during stressful and emotional times. In my heart and gut I KNEW her emotions were making her manifest pain physically. I didn't know how that was possible, but I just knew.

Seven years ago I got into a happy marriage and had a child, our closeness and daily communication took a hit, resulting in a sort of separation between us, and that - I believe - was the last straw for her. She went rapidly downhill from there. It culminated in a nervous breakdown this past summer which brought on new symptoms: brain fog that very much resembled dementia in its severity, SEVERE fatigue, hearing and seeing things, and more pain than ever. My father was scared to death and broke down with me on the phone one day crying. I resolved in that moment to find a way to help her and thus began my journey that I'm sharing here.

After praying for guidance, and weeks of frantic research on this site and others, I stumbled upon Mickel Therapy and also a book by Dr. John Sarno about Mindbody medicine. It changed the way I looked and pain and other symptoms and in my heart I KNEW this was the solution. In essence, when there are emotions that that aren't processed or dealt with properly, a physical manifestation in the form of various symptoms begins to happen. Sarno's book says that our mind distracts us from having to deal with painful emotions by creating symptoms in our bodies. Mickel therapy is a bit different, saying that unprocessed emotions affects the hypothalmus gland which then goes into overdrive and creates unwanted symptoms. Bottom line is that it all goes back to emotions wreaking havoc. Sounds awfully simplistic, doesn't it? But I knew it was worth pursuing because everything else had been tried, and because I'd known all along that her problems were tied to her emotions, and now I knew exactly how.

So I shared all that information with my parents and began a sort of "coaching" with them both about learning to talk about emotions, which was a bit of a process because my parents don't talk about such things (hence her problems). I continued praying for guidance, talking with her, and mended our relationship. I laid out for her a timeline of sorts to show my theories on WHY her symptoms started (us leaving home), and the progression of them over time as they related to emotional issues in her life. It was hard because of her severe brain fog... Sometimes an uphill battle, but she is getting better!

The confusion is dramatically improved, as is her pain and energy levels. Her and my dad are talking all the time, and have even had a few dates. Their relationship is slowly improving because of all of this, which is nearly as miraculous as the improvements in her symptoms. She still has a ways to go, and will have to continue to practice this new way of thinking of her body and illness, but she is on the road to recovery. I am so far beyond grateful that I was led to the knowledge I was so I could bring my Mom back to us. I urge everyone to read and research more about this powerful link between mind, body, and emotions.

Hi, thanks for your post, very interesting. I do believe that if you pray and ask for guidance then you will receive help- isn't that how most of us found earth clinic in the first place. To speed up your mum's healing remember that to look at what she eats is she getting all the vitamins she needs- in times of stress we need more b vits and signs of dementia are relieved by fish oils. Best wishes to you and your mum.

Well it seems I've had an allergic rxn to GABA in the form of intense itching, so I'm going to have to stop it. I've ordered some Berberine and I'll be trying that...

Hi. Fibromyalgia for17 years. Single mom with four children. I divorced my abusive husband and have raised my kids alone for over 18 years. When my youngest child was 2 yrs. old I had a hysterectomy. 4-6 months later I was critically ill. I am writing this post after two months of reading every post and tons of questionaires. I am an educated woman and after 6 years of pure hell with doctors, dentists, rheumatologists, counselors, Chiropracters and Psychiatrists I realized that the only way I would ever be well is if I figured it out on my own. I also have 6 sisters with Fibro and they too have been looking for answers for many many years. I am not simply thankful for earthclinic. No, what I am is ecstatic, sad, joyful, relieved and so very hopeful that I am consistently on the verge of tears. My symptoms have tortured me but with four children and little money and just as little emotional support I have been victorious thus far. Because I realize now that I have done the best that I could. I spent years feeling guilty. I thought I was weak. Doctors convinced me that it was Psychosomatic. The horror of Fibro is that others cannot understand. It's too much and too erratic. It doesn't make sense even to me so how would someone without Fibro be able to understand. Thank you, all of you. I am not guilty anymore because all of you have reassured me that I am not alone. I have been hopeful about cures before. In fact my family and even my children find my excitement boring and irritating most times. Most people think I'm nuts because I cant stop looking for answers. The reason: NO ONE realizes how horribly sick I am. I don't really LOOK sick. I laugh. I can walk. I'm not in a wheelchair. I work. I clean. Most people think I'm a Hypochondriac. When I can't function and stay in bed I can't say, it's my Fibromyalgia. I used to say that and felt humiliated by the looks I received. This illness is known as a "Pain Syndrome" what a crock! Chronic Fatigue is known as "being tired all the time". I have said for a long time to the few who would listen, Something has poisoned me. Every single piece of my body, including my brain is in pain. Headaches for days in a row that create nausea and numb my brain. Hands that hurt holding a pen. Eyes burning like they are on fire. Blurry vision. Foot pain that brings tears to my eyes when I walk 1 block. Ears and head itching and aching like something is crawling inside. My neck is so painful ALL the time. I eat well. I am a positive thinker. I have a fulfilling job. I have no car so I walk and ride the bus everywhere. I love life. I love nature. I have educated myself on health and wellness for years. The point that I am making? Fibromyalgia CANNOT be healed as easily or quickly as some have posted. I have had times in the past where healthy living made me feel much better. I am sold on the Flouride connection because I SHOULD be healthy. Something is poisoning me. I have spent 3 weeks researching any and all information on Flouride. I have read the pros and the cons of water fluoridation. The history of Flouride. The case studies of Skeletal Flourosis and even researched the research. I have spent 2 weeks on Teds Borax etc. regimen and I am horribly horribly sick from head to toe. I don't care how long this takes but I won't quit until I am well. For those of you who get better in two days man are you lucky. For those like me Suffer through it. Don't give up. Maybe some of us are more poisoned than others.

I could go on forever but I'll stop now. God bless all of us. I hope this is it because I can't bear to think of any more, especially children going through life with all this pain and sadness. Thank you for earthclinic. Thank God for compassionate human beings.

Have you given a thought about Flouride poisioning could be the cause of Fibromyalgia. You can try the tamarind juice to safely remove flouride.

Here is a link for the recipe and other papers about tamarind

Magdaleen, it is probably just die-off, so do not stop the borax. You may also want to take some MSM to help for the fibromyalgia. I have been taking borax for extended periods without any side effects. Sometimes the fibromyalgia may also be acid related, therefore (if not doing it already) take Ted's alkalizer as directed, as well as ACV. It has done wonders for my fibromyalgia and acid related pains. In good health, Deon

Oh my, I thought about to delete the "old" as it is really AGED grains. Sorry about that. There must be suppliers. I am looking into it.

Ordinary rice is good for hot climates. In wet, cold climates, millet is preferable. It can cause an imbalance, causing phlegm. However if the grains are stored for sometime, they are less starchy.

I always check with Ayurveda online when it comes to western designed diets. Allopathic doctors know nothing of nutrition other than what they are told to promote. Dieticians have studied where the faculties are funded by food businesses such as Kraft(y) etc.

Ayurveda and CTM are standing like giants for thousands of years. Image, an ayurvedic vaidya would first try medicine for his patient on himself. Here, most of our doctors would be dead. But lets no go into it.

Namaste, Om
