Pranayama Breathing
★★★★★
Sinus Polyps: For me I used the natural breathing technique of pranamya and it has worked wonders. Note: Since starting pranamya my polyps have reduced significantly. I can now breathe through my nose via both nostrils (polyps for me developed in the right nostril so right nostril and right ear became blocked) but when I first discovered polyps at first
I struggled to breathe through my right nostril at all - I used nasal sprays and sometimes steam to get rid of any mucus causing nasal congestion in my nose and then to soothe the inflammation caused by polyps. Gradually I was able to get enough out that I could more effectively use pranamya to breathe through the nostril and now a significant amount is gone. I still use nasal spray as needed - it helps reduce inflammation - note: when I sneeze I find it easy to exhale and the polyps come to the surface with liquid from spray also coming out my nose.
My ENT specialist says situation in my case is not bad enough to undergo surgery I can just keep doing pranamya and using spray as needed. I was also given a spray to lubricate my blocked ear and that has also helped. At first my nose and ear were so blocked that even when there's no liquid stuck in the ear if I tried gently using a cotton swab to clean excess earwax the cotton would get stuck in the ear. Not anymore I can safely put a cotton swab in my ear to remove earwax and pull it out.
When the ear was too blocked for a cotton swab I used an earwax removal liquid product my doctor recommended for loosening the wax in the ear. I've heard some say its not a good idea anyway to use cotton swabs no matter how careful you are. I'll probably just start using such sprays in my ear to reduce the earwax regularly now even when ear is completely opened.
I don't know how or why when polyps develop it occurs in one nostril instead of another - for me as noted it was the right nostril but have had great relief with this approach. Also to help sleep at night I use a Vicks like solution that can be put in the nose to provide temporary relief to help breathe through your nose.
Also recently to help reduce the chance of nasal infection and clean the insides of my nose I use a nasal saline spray - that is non-medicated but according to the bottle is pediatrician recommended. One can look up on the Internet instructions to make their own home made nasal saline sprays using water and non iodized salt - iodized salt tends to cause more irritation in the nose. The nasal saline spray I have is a sample bottle that was purchased (I don't remember where) so its not a home made solution.
I hope this helps.

Well I just thought of giving an update on the status of my nasal polyps. They are almost completely gone. Pranamaya has really worked wonders for me. As noted I have used nasal sprays before to shrink polyps but using nasal spray does not resolve the underlying problem of inflammation and irritation in nasal cavity. That is what breathing exercises like pranamaya are for. Use a finger to cover one nostril and try to breathe in and out through the other nostril. In my case I covered my left nostril and inhaled/exhaled from the right nostril that had the polyps. My polyps were very bad when I first discovered them (went to regular family doctor and was told I had nasal polyps and should make an appointment with an ENT to determine a course of treatment - in the meantime was given nasal spray)
I tried a number of different things to resolve the situation. I used the sprays given, I used nasal decongestant pills (this sometimes was effective) but what worked best was pranamaya to not only get rid of polyps but prevent their return. I know it's been said in most cases people who get polyps surgically removed discover they grow back. So it is important to treat the underlying irritation and inflammation. By the time I went to see my ENT specialist - my polyps had shrunk to a point that the ENT specialist as noted said surgery was not needed.
I ended up going to ENT several months later because while pranamaya helped shrink the polyps my right ear still felt clogged. When my ear ached I had to apply a warm compress to it and to help reduce the polyps further I occasionally used (as directed) some nasal decongestants that also helped at least for a while in suppressing and shrinking my polyps.
Using nasal decongestants or nasal sprays and/or antihistamine nasal sprays may have had some positive effects but they are only for short term use and should not be used longer than intended. Fortunately, pranamaya has worked wonders - it is the best solution of all. Even if you use the sprays to shrink the polyps they only work for a short period of time and once you stop using them they can grow back. Same with surgery which is expensive and risky I hear. A number of people with surgery have their polyps grow back and have to get surgery again later.
A better solution: even if you go for surgery all nasal polyp sufferers should try this: do nasal breathing techniques (pranamaya) for at least 5-10 mins a day to help treat the underlying irrititation and help prevent polyps from growing back in the first place.
I have now gotten rid of most of the polyps - I no longer feel any pain around or in my nose due to polyps and my right ear feels better. It is still slightly clogged but the ear canal has opened up quite a bit. Before it was completely blocked.

Saline Rinse
★★★★★
A few years ago I was having difficulty breathing through my right nostril. I used a small flashlight to see what was blocking the nostril. I saw a polyp about the size of a good sized pea. It was positioned less than an inch from the nostril opening. I touched it and it was hard. I was a little frightened by it. At age 55 I had never experienced one of these.
I started researching and found that Sodium can shrink swollen membranes. I then found out about Nasal Irrigation. Nasal Irrigation is where you add a small amount of salt to warm water and let the saltwater pass into one nostril and out the other. All I had available to use was a 16 ounce measuring cup.
I boiled about 4 ounces of water, put it in the 16 ounce measuring cup. Then, I added enough room temperature water so that the water was barely warm. In the summer I need to add about 12 ounces of water to the 4 ounces of boiling water and in the winter I only need to add about 8 ounces of water. I then added a little over 1/4 of a teaspoon of regular table salt. I did the following over the kitchen sink.
I turned my head so that my left ear was facing the floor. Then, I slowly poured the salt water into my right nostril and let it flow out of the left nostril into the kitchen sink. When the measuring cup was empty I stopped.
I would then place my finger on the left side of my nose and close the left nostril and rather forcefully blow excess water out of my right nostril into the sink. Then, I did the same with the other nostril. I then went to the bathroom and used toilet tissue to clean the excess moisture from the nostrils.
I did this every evening. After a few days I looked into the nostril again with the small flashlight and the polyp was gone. I was surprised and delighted.
I have continued to do this nasal cleansing almost every day since. I haven't had a nasal polyp since that first one. I'm now 64 years old. I also noticed it helped keep my sinuses clear most of the time = better breathing.
I later got what is called a Neti Pot, which a a little pot designed for the purpose of doing a nasal irrigation. The cheap plastic ones work for me. Most health food stores have them. I noticed over time that the first couple of hours after doing a nasal irrigation, my nostrils tend to be a little dry. After a couple hours they moisten back up. That's why I do the nasal cleanse at least 2 hours before going to bed. This allows the nostrils time to moisten before bed = better breathing.
A couple details:
1. I found it better to stop the cleanse just before the cup was empty. I pinch my nose so as to retain some of the saltwater in the sinuses. Then, I keep the nose pinched and bend down with the top of my head pointing towards the floor to the count of 20. Then, I keep the nostrils pinched and stand up straight and tilt my head back (when the head is tiled back you can stop pinching the nose and the water will not drain out). I would keep that position to the count of 20. Then I would blow out the excess water. This seems to allow the saltwater to get deeper into the sinus cavity.
2. If, after the first cleanse, my sinus cavity still feels a little stuffy, I'll do a second nasal irrigation (I don't have to do this very often). With practice I became more aware of when my sinus cavities were clear or not.
3. One day I forgot to put the salt into the warm water. When I started the cleanse my nostrils felt really irritated and sore. I stopped and added the salt. When I continued with the nasal cleanse the saltwater was soothing. This is how I discovered how salt is soothing to irritated skin and how water alone can be irritating to sensitive tissue.

In response to Ron: thank you so much for the detailed story. Esp your tips, such as to move head in diff directions, ensuring the entire nasal cavity is rinsed.
I have had the same nasal problems, and have been irrigating for months now...I get some relief but wow, does my nose get dry and itchy!! Not to be gross, but well, there's hard matter in there (ahem, very hard boogers) afterward and I just have to remove it...or else I can't breathe well. So, that probably infects it even more, and on & on the infection cycle goes

I have found that if you add to the sea salt a level tea spoon of sodium bicarb, a half tea spoon of sodium carbonate (washing soda) and a dash of borax it is much, much more effective. Bliss in fact!

Hi Julie - I use a saline rinse in a neti pot (just a baking soda and kosher salt mixture) and found that, although it helped my sinus problems, it really dried out my nose. I've started adding a couple of drops of food-grade glycerin (found in the health food stores) to the neti pot. It really helped. Then, throughout the day, I just put a tiny amount of coconut oil in each nostril to keep it moist (the air in Calgary is extremely dry). It's made a world of difference. Good luck!
Salt Crystal Inhaler
★★★★★
Nasal Polyp relief from a Himalayan Salt Crystal Inhaler! I had to write on this forum to tell you all about an amazing remedy for polyps! I've suffered badly for 22 years, no sense of smell for most of that time. I had the operation about 8 years ago and only lasted a year. Since then I've had all the usual terrible problems, sinusitus, mucus, constantly blowing my nose etc, etc. At the beginning of this month, I saw an ad in my local paper for a ceramic salt inhaler filled with Himalayan salt crystals, and would last for 6 years. I decided to give it a go, you inhale the vapors through the mouth and breath out through the nose, for about half an hour a day. After the 2nd day I noticed my nose had cleared a lot at night and I had had a better night's sleep! I've used it for nearly a month now and I can't believe the difference! I'm virtually clear at night from mucus, so I'm breathing through my nose with my mouth closed so less snoring. I'm using significantly less tissues throughout the day as my airways are much clearer, I would say about 50% improved so far.
The BEST news of all though is that over the past couple of days I have actually had a faint sense of smell coming back! I first smelt a faint coffee smell, then today I was cooking and all day I have smelt garlic and the cooking smell. It's still only faint but it's definitely coming back! This has been the best treatment I've tried so far, and believe me I've tried a few on here - cider vinegar, tea tree oil, etc. I am still on my nasal spray which is prescribed, but it's actually able to spray up my nose at last, instead of hitting the polyps and dripping back out. I would say that the salt inhaler is having the same effect as when I've used steroids in the past, but the massive difference here is that the salt is 100% safe and natural. I read how it works and it's something like the crystals are totally untreated in the natural form, and when inhaled into the lungs particles coat the lungs and airways to fight bacteria and dry up mucus. Only need to use for 30 minutes a day, and breathe out through nose (this was hard at first due to the obstructions, but I persevered and it has got easier each day). The feeling I get after using the inhaler is it feels cold on my chest, like I've been up in the mountains on a really crisp clear day, or been by the sea breathing in the windy air.

UPDATE: I wanted to update you - I've carried on using the salt pipe and it's now 6 months on. It's been incredible, I can now smell everything about 80% of the time, and even when the smell fades for a day or 2, I can still taste 100% of the time!!!!! This treatment has been incredible, I can't recommend it enough. I noticed that when I caught a cold it only lasted about 5 days and never went to sinusitis like it usually would (and take about 3 weeks to recover from! ). I've been sleeping much better and generally feel great - what a fantastic relief! I still use my prescribed nasal spray as I noticed it does still help along with the salt pipe, but I'm hoping that I can eventually fade this out.
Salt, Baking Soda, Black Seed Oil
★★★★★
Hello, I had nasal polyps for 2 years now with no sense of smell or taste, got surgery with no luck. I didn't try eliminating sugar, but I don't really have a sweet tooth. My problem started when I started painting cars with no mask on somtimes, the fumes were starting to burn my nose and stayed stuck.
I started rinsing my nose with 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, and a drop or two of Black seed oil but if more it burns, all in warm distilled water.
With God's help I started to smell and taste after two or three weeks. But now I stopped smelling and tasting because I stopped after month and a half I got lazy mixing and warming up the distilled water.
Wish you good luck.
Selenium and Zinc

Thank you, Ted! I took your advice to treat my nasal polyps
I took selenium and zinc for 30 days... at first my polyps grew more, mostly trying to fight back... But after about 2-3 days of that they retracted, more and more until i could breath once again! No more headaches, blowing my nose, embarrassment while talking to people!
ps. I also cut a lot of dairy from my diet. Not sure if they won't come back, but for now i feel great

Serrapeptase
★★★★★
I'd had two surgeries and was scheduled for another. I had tried all kinds of home remedies, apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, hydrogen peroxide, I had resorted to pulling them out myself with hemostats, not recommended. A gal at the local heath food store said she used serrapeptase for cysts on her ovaries and suggested I try it. I did and within a month I could breath through my nose after suffering for decades. I shared this with my physician and he was not interested at all, just said if it worked keep using it. I whole heartedly recommend it!

Hi there,
Where do I start. This time last year I was put on symbicort for a cough, it is worst drug ever, once on it I got polpys and couldn't breathe through my nose after alot if searching alot of googling and spending a fortune on other meds I finally found Caitríona in Dublin's post who told me to try serrapeptase.
After buying sinus wars it's a scam beware did nothing for me like suger pills, after buying Salin Plus another scam didn't work for me, after eating loads of herbs and green tea still didn't work for me.
What did work was stop suger, up take vitiman C and start taking apple cider vinegar and honey and cayenne pepper and finally take tea tree oil and grape fruit extract with sterlised water in spray bottle and take serrapeptase.
After a while you will see benefit. I went to my ent and he was amazed how they were gone and what I was doing no surgery and have lost alot weight in process so hang in there you will get through it.
Thanks again catríona lifesaver.
So I hope I have helped somebody in same situation.
Many thanks, Mikes

Hi Mikes & Catriona
I've found your info very helpful as my condition has worsened over the last 12 weeks. Just started with serrapeptase 5 weeks ago but am curious as to how long it takes before you begin to feel a positive change with the polyps and improved breathing? ( I've had chronic sinus issues/polyps for almost 20 years)
I also take symbicort for asthma which began 12 months before any sinus issues. Not sure now whether to change my prescription.
I've researched and tried so many natural products. At the moment working with serrapeptase, curcumin, quercetin/bromelain/vitamin c and ACV. Also now have the grapefruit seed extract by not really sure how to use this for maximum benefit.
I have also started the ball rolling with ENT and further sinus surgery but am hoping this will not be necessary as in Mikes and Catrionas testimonials.
I am/will be extremely grateful for any feedback.
Lets hope this chronic sinus condition which so many suffer with can be improved or even cured without the need for prescriptive drugs or surgery.
Thank you.

Sharon. If you have not considered mold illness, now is the time.
I bought a glass nasal sprayer, the pump type. I put spring water in it with 2 drops of 5% lugols iodine. I spray while inhaling 2x a day to control polyps and they dwindle away.
If it is mold it depletes every good thing in you. Hormones drive wellness. So you might look into progesterone cream pregnenolone and dhea to help the healing. I use 1 dollop of progest real not mexican yam. 3x a week on upper body. 25 mg pregnanolone. And 5 mg of dhea. Same schedule.
I use Ted's remedies to fight it as far as the house and exposures.
He stresses about fungal and mold issues. Sodium Molybdate 1/4 tsp in water in the am. He says to use some powder added shampoo to wash hair. Or add to rinse and do not rinse away.
Some things that I have done to further the things you are doing...to be more effective. Janet

Hi Sharon,
First thing I do get off symbircort, I'm on new one called revlar also known as breo it's great you only take it once a day and it a lifesaver.
As for serrapeptase took about 2 months for it to start working for me, uptake victim c as for grape fruit extract I I got empty spray bottle added just 3 drops and put sterilised water into bottle and spray it once in morning and once at night.
It might sting but keep at it you will see results and keep taking apple cider vinegar.
Hope this helps you and you start to feel better, If I can do it so can you.
Kind Regards,
Mikes from Ireland
Sinus Headache Link
I have been diagnosed by an allergist/ENT with nasal polyps but my symptoms are a bit different from those declared by the rest of you. I don't have a cure or remedy to offer, but thought that my unusual but definitely related symptoms might shed some light for others.I don't suffer from the typical stuffiness and loss of smell, nor from drippiness and excessive tissue use. In fact, I seem to have almost no "nose action" going on at all (other than sneezing, which to be perfectly honest is not bothersome for me usually), until one day suddenly, I get an onslaught of a terrific sinus headache accompanied with debilitating nausea that can only be relieved with finally vomitting. I have been told since my youth (age 10 or so) that I have post-nasal drip (my only complaint then was terrible bad breath). I believe that the polyp causes or contributes greatly to the post-nasal drip and a build-up of mucous in my stomach which is the source of the great nausea. Another reason to instruct your children NOT to snork down the drainage instead of blowing their noses; that stuff builds up down there and the only relief is for it to come back UP!
Anyway, my question for the rest of you cure-seekers and diagnosticians is: does it seem plausible that this is not actually sinus or allergy based, but more of a migraine situation? I have undergone allergy blood tests and the results were very inconclusive. I suffer from this sinus-headache/nausea syndrome in all seasons of a 4-season region. It does seem to be worsened by consumption of frozen dairy (especially at night) and by having damp hair (i.e. not blow-drying my hair immediately after showering).
I appreciate any input!

My son had the bad breath and on occasion coughing to the point of vomiting, which like yours came up with mucous in it. We went through the mill for several years with docs insisting he had seasonal allergies, asthma, etc. A nuumber of rounds of antibiotics were also given for sinus infection flare-ups due to all this. Like you, he generally didn't have dripping or stuffiness or any such symptoms you would think he "should" have by their (mis)diagnoses. When I stopped giving him milk, he stopped having problems.
He didn't have the headache problems you do, but I think it would be worthwhile to try stopping all dairy for a few weeks and see if that changes things for you. During that period, taking some ACV as instructed elsewhere on this site may be good to do just for general purposes. Something else that you might consider - my son recently had several slices of pizza with extra cheese (American cheese is no problem for him, but pizza cheeses are). Within a day, that telltale swampy smell began on his breath. I have a bottle of Atomidine here (it's a type of iodine, available at Amazon). I put a tiny smidge of a drop in juice and gave it to him, and I swear that 2 sips was all it took - the bad breath was instantly GONE and didn't come back! We were both floored. I believe the Atomidine knocked out whatever was brewing there from a dairy reaction. As in all things, you should always research for yourself before trying. Just a tip for something that you might find useful. Best of luck, and please do update us!
Sinus Papilloma
Hi there everyone. I just got back from the hospital and my ORL told me, after a biopsy and a scan that I have INVERTED PAPILLOMA in my left sinus and I would need surgery to remove the tumor (which is benign). I read online a bit about this and it is not reassuring at all. The doctor seems convinced that the tumor is going to come back and or degenerate into cancer.... I'm only 36 and have a son to raise. Please help with any ideas!

Hello Ingrid! I was diagnoised with the same thing 4 years ago.... I opted for no surgery, chemo or radiation. Mine was very large at the time and I need a team of surgeons! I was told the same thing it would come back or become cancer too. However I did not have a biopsy so really did not even know if it was already cancerous. Anyway, I went to a holistic Doc and went on a All Raw Food Diet! No junk no sugar! Just fruits and veggies! I juice carrots and beets, celery, cucumbers, ginger etc! I became very healthy and am doing great! My tumor is still there but not growing! Research all you can on holistic all natural ways to heal yourself! It works! :)

Hi everyone, This is just to let you know that I have found this cream named Cansema Deep Tissue and put it inside my nose on the papilloma. It stang like someone was burning me with acid for about 5 minutes, than subsided. My tumor was as large as a grain of rice. It took 5 applications due to the fact that I (my helping husband) hardly could reach inside, but now thanks to Good God and this cream, it is gone!
Hope this helps somebody!

Get a reusable nasal spray bottle and fill with distilled water, add 1 drop tea tree oil, 1 drop eucalyptus oil, and 1 drop of grape seed oil. Use it as you feel you need it.
Got to try Serrapeptase. Google it. It works a treat for all types of ailments especially polyps, cysts etc

Tea Tree Oil, Omega 3
★★★★★
For Nasal Polyps, Tea Tree oil with the carrier Castor Oil works quite well.
If you want immediate relief try Omega 3 Fatty Acids. My nasal passages were completely closed by polyps to the point that I could only breath thru my mouth. I did some research and read about Omega-3's so I gave it a try. I took about 600 mg of Omega-3 in Fish Oil form and within minutes the swelling shrank enough that I could actually get some air thru my nostrils. Wow I was amazed.

I am a migraine and polyp sufferer and I am currently taking the citric acid 1/4 tsp and baking soda 1/4 tsp formula three times a day just over 1.5 months now and yes it works slow, but it works!!! I have not added the other supplements just the citric acid and baking soda.
As a cautionary note I read that you are not to take this solution with antacids specifically those with aluminum. Also mix first with a small amount of water and then add juice after the solution settles. It causes what looks like carbonation so you get a cup full of fizz if you mix it all together at first. The castor oil tastes terrible and I can tolerate just about anything. I did not try applying it to my stomach but that is the route to go if you decide to do so.
Treat for Low Thyroid
★★★★★
Have had polyps at least 13 years, my doctor laughed when he saw them, said "They're the worst I've ever seen! " Nostrils 100% blocked 24/7, swollen nose, chronic infections, etc. Tried prescription steroid sprays, every alternative remedy I came across... little benefit. Posted here not long ago how saline nasal spray with Lugol's iodine helped greatly.
Now it seems I've finally found the real cause and cure, for me, and I believe many, even most of you, my fellow sufferers.
Some years back I found a blog where a woman told how raising her low body temperature cured her nasal polyps (and much else). Look up "Janey Hood nasal polyps" if you want to read her story, she's not selling anything.
For years my wife and I have been taking Lugol's iodine. Now I wonder if we took too much? Or perhaps it is merely the onslaught of chlorine, fluorine, bromine etc in the modern world that has lowered our thyroid function, though we avoid them as best we can.
My wife has been on thyroid medication for some time now. She does best on one of the natural ones, derived from animal thyroid tissue. I recently saw a list of 300 low thyroid symptoms, conservatively I had 47 of them, although far from overweight (a common symptom).
A couple of weeks ago I began taking a half or a quarter of one of her pills each morning, 30 minutes before coffee or food. The effects felt subtle, but I felt better, livelier, with a more positive attitude. Soon I noticed I was no longer mopping at my nose all day.
Now I'm breathing through my nose as I type. Have not had to have a tissue beneath my nose to prevent it running onto the pillow at night. Haven't even bothered with the saline/iodine nasal spray for the last week. Believe I've found the cause, and cure. Do yourself a favor, find a sympathetic doctor to test your thyroid and get treatment. Keep in mind many docs treat the test results rather than the patient. If you test "normal" you may not be.
Do a search for "hypothyroidism and nasal polyps" if you want more evidence.

An update: I've since found that rather than thyroid medication, simply taking one 750mg capsule of L-tyrosine each morning on an empty stomach keeps my nose in great shape. Can no longer see polyps in nostrils even using a flashlight and mirror. I am breathing through my nose right now as I type, my sense of smell is acute! Almost never need a tissue anymore, no longer bother with saline nasal spray with iodine, as I don't need it. Also I feel warm, more energetic, more motivated, better mood, so I believe all of this is due to giving the thyroid the support it needs.

I am astonished, flabbergasted, simply can't believe that apparently no one has left any feedback on this! Now two years after I first posted this, the huge nasal polyps that completely obstructed my nose, the endless sinus infections, are still 100% gone! After at most a few months, I no longer needed to take either the natural thyroid medicine, nor the tyrosine.
Once the polyps shrank away, the vicious cycle of inflammation/infection was done. If any of you want to breathe absolutely freely and normally again, please try this approach.

Hello
I got the same symptoms chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps and recently had diagnosed with underactive thyroid. I suspected the amalgam fillings and root canal fillings may be the cause of long term sufferings. Now I am in the process of removing them. If not changed, then low body temperature may be the cause due to underactive thyroid.
Fingers crossed

Hi y'all. i just wanted to share my experiences with nasal polyp cures which were found from a variety of sources, over a number of years. like all of us sufferers here, i have tried EVERY SINGLE suggested method of curing this ailment ever known to man
- Visited 4 different doctors for 2nd opinions, saw 3 specialists. underwent 4 different cat scans/xrays etc. spent almost $1000 on total medical expenses.
- NASAL IRRIGATION with a variety of salts and herbal/medical infuses
- NASAL SPRAYS of the cortisteroid, over the counter and prescription manner(rhinocort, etc)
- ATOPICAL CREAMS - cortisteriods of many strengths, in prescriptions. applied onto inner nasal walls
- APPLYING/swabbing chemicals eg h202 in powder and liquid form, of different strengths
- ANTIBIOTICS - 3 types, for a few months each
- ANTI-INFLAMMATORY PILLS/TABLETS
- HAYFEVER/ALLERGY tablets x 10 types
- VITAMINS - C, B complex, A, garlic oil, horseradish, zinc, omega3, fish oil,
- DRINKING LITRES upon litres of clear water ever day until the point of feeling unwell
- HOMEOPATHIC remedies
- PRESSURE POINT/ACCUPUNCTURE REMEDIES
- EXTENSIVE HOME RENOVATION to replace all dust-mite sensitive areas, carpets to tiles/wood flooring, curtains replaced, bedding, EVERYTHING
- installing better heating/cooling systems
- IONIZERS to collect dust
- ETC ETC
BUT ALL TO NO AVAIL. well, they work initially, for perhaps a short period of time, but then relapse back to original, intoleratable state
but what i would like to share with you all, is my most recent attempt with WATER FASTING/VEGAN DIET
during my years of researching for a cure, the term 'fasting' did pop up alot, but i never paid attention to it, as it seemed difficult and too intensive to attempt and sustain as a part of my lifestyle
but after exhausting all other alternatives out there, i ultimately resorted to this method
yes it is incredible difficult to cut out all foods, and only consume VEGETABLES and FRUITS, and WATER (teas are allowed), and you do feel TIRED and lethargic, and dizzy most of the time during the intial phase, but after 1.5- 2 weeks, you begin to see GREAT RESULTS
I stopped my other remedies during this time period, and stuck to the FAST strictly
now it has been 3 weeks, and to my delight, the size of my POLYPS shrank immensely. the doctors were equally surprised at what a simple, non-evasive, safe, non-medical, natural, process of fasting could avail to. BREATHING is incredibly easier, EVERYTHING is looking up and up. it is very liberating!
on a side note, you LOSE WEIGHT in the process. which is always good.
So i urge you all to give this a shot. dont waste any more money in useless medicines and whatnot.
hope you all found this helpful! i was really excited about my discovery and really wanted you all to be made privy to the benefits of fasting! CHEERS! and bless you all!

Hi Laura,
Thanks for your post!
(I am a sinus sufferer also, with a polyp in the right nostril)
Your comments and suggestions, complete dietary changes, make sense! Every time I go on a fast, I feel significant relief in my sinuses (not to mention overall health). But no sooner I begin eating than I start to feel the congestion all over again. Other times when I eat light and restrict myself to wholesome and light diet (and avoiding diary, wheat, pasta, etc.) I feel OK too. Which leads me to believe there is a digestion and food assimilation (or lack thereof) component to sinus conditions. That is, the type and amount of food matter.
I think the trick might be in implementing the long term lifestyle changes - which most us may not have the courage to try. The obvious and discouraging part is that when we experience adverse results initially it is possible to scrap the whole idea.
Laura, in any case, I appreciate it if you could list some of the typical vegan diet you follow? How often do you water fast and when do you consume vegetables and fruits? I imagine one would intake water all the time. (A typical recipe would be nice to have.)
Thank you.

Like many other posters here, i think it may be related to wheat/yeast/dairy allergies that you may not be aware of. eradicating certain allergy-inducing foods from our diets would definitely help the polyp shrink, but ive been tested as having only dust mite allergies, so im not entirely sure why i feel better when im only eating pure, natural foods. i hope someone can provide some better insight.

I am trying to deal with my monster extruding nasal polyps with anti-inflamatory compounds like turmeric, mega-vitamins, horseradish, Chinese herbs and green tea. So far not much luck. I am just glad to know that my problems are indeed polyps; after living in a moldy house 20 years ago my sinuses have been blocked ever since; now polyps protrude from my nose but at least I know what the deal is.
Acupuncture helped a bit, but they did not know about polyps as such, and the herbal pills they gave me have little effect; covered in red dye and sugar, I soak that stuff off before I take the pills.
A juice fast seems to be the next logical step in allowing the body to break down this excess tissue.

As a fellow nasal polyp sufferer, i really feel for all the people who post here. i wanted to add my 2 cents, and i really must to say, the most effective cure is the one that most people have been advocating. by no means is it easy, but the root cause of the condition is wheat and dairy. its been medically proven that NOT CONSUMING these products will give you instant and long-lived relief. but the problem is its generally impossible to avoid these types of foods, and so most people continue to suffer from polyps, not knowing the reasons why. following this logic, i've been consuming as little wheat and dairy as possible for the past 2 years, and drinking as much water as possible. whilst my polyps are not gone, they have shrunk drastically and continued to remain that way, and most days i dont even feel them in my nasal passage. so please take this into consideration, for your healths sake. good luck!

This time homeopthy didn't work for me. Everytime something different seems to work though my first aim is to control sinus. Did that with Sudafed non drying medicine. Then drank Job's tears powder mixed in hot water. One tablespoon per day. After 2 days polyp has shrunk considerably. Job's Tears is popular with Japanese and in Asian society. It's made with 'Chinese pearl barley'.
I see mention about diet. In Indian shops you will find Harad powder that taken after food prevents formation of sinus.

Has Job's tears continued to keep your polyps shrunken?

My 5 yr battle with nasal polyps also ended with the elimination of grain from my diet. I also eliminated seed oils & replaced them with animal fats. Adding 1000 mg of ascorbic acid to 8oz of hypertonic saline in the form of nasal irrigation seems to help.

-PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH...WE ALL HAVE DIFFERING MEDICAL NEEDS AND BIOLOGICAL CONDITIONS...THIS IS JUST WHAT SEEMED TO HAVE WORKED FOR ME, BUT I KNOW MY BODY PRETTY WELL COMPARED TO THE AVERAGE JOE.
-PLEASE RESEARCH GRAPE SEED EXTRACT BEFORE TAKING...HAS BLOOD THINNING QUALITIES and OTHER THINGS ONE SHOULD BE AWARE OF.
High Doses Vitamin C and Grape Seed Extract:
I have had a sinus polyp for 12 years and have tried so many herbs and such to get rid of it to no avail. This past year I read an article (link is at bottom) on taking high doses of Vitamin C when ill.
Last week, right before my summer vacation I developed a serious sinus infection due to allergies. Based on the article I had read I decided to take high doses of Vitamin C along with Grape Seed Extract which is supposed to be 20X more potent than Vitamin C.
I took about 2000 MG (milligrams, NOT grams) of Vitamin C about every 3-4 hrs.for 3-4 days. In addition I took 100 MG of Grape Seed Extract 2x/ day--all with plenty of water. I was also taking Vitamin D and garlic but not in large quantities.
On day 4, I sniffed my nose and "something" moved to the back of my throat. I do not want to be rude but...I moved it into a tissue to examine it because it felt so strange and large. It wasn't your typical nasal mucous that comes with an infection. It looked like a large wad of gum and had the same rubbery texture but was dark red in color. I was pretty sure it was my nasal polyp and upon looking into my nostril with a light I could not see it anywhere. I have looked for several days in disbelief that it could actually be gone but it has yet to return a week later. I think it just finally "dried up" up and detached. I am breathing freer than I have for years and cannot believe what has seemingly transpired.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING LINK FOR INFORMATION ON TAKING HIGH DOSES OF VITAMIN C. I have found it to be very helpful for my own health concerns.

I hope this gives those suffering with nasal polyps a possible route to pursue for their relief. I encourage you to read a great deal and educate yourself on all risks and side-effects in regards to your own body and it's needs.

These nasal polyps are indeed pernicious. Horseradish did nothing for me. The polyps seemed to really make themselves known when I had a filled wisdom tooth break in two a couple of years ago. The dentist wanted to pull it, but I thought I just had a sinus infection with total blockage, so we agreed to wait til I had it cleared up before pulling the tooth. If my polyps clear up after I have the decayed tooth pulled, I will think that they are related. For now I am on steroid spray, which does shrink them a lot, high vitamin C, and trying to avoid dust and food toxins. Has anyone seen a relationship between a bad tooth and polyps? There must be a connection!

Hi Tom,
I have read that the roots of the upper teeth can extend into the lower sinus cavities below the eyes. If the roots are infected then the sinus can become infected. I notice my chronic sinus problem flares up when I fall asleep without brushing my teeth. I'm not sure if this is because of allergy to the dental plaque or because bacteria migrate up through the dentin tubules into the sinus. Hope this helps, Steve
About me: I have had chronic sinusitis for around 10 years. I saw a surgeon today and my CT scan shows quite a bit of sinus polyp blockage. I am strongly considering surgery after trying many natural options, but am still looking for a natural preventative. The essiac tea seems like an interesting option, which I have not tried yet.

I have just had ( 3 weeks ago) to have two upper teeth removed as one was cracked in half and the other had a failed root canal and both teeth were very decayed and were causing abscesses and I had little spots above the teeth that were filled with puss. Since having them removed I have noticed my polyp has disappeared. I also recently had a lot of orange watery liquid coming out of my nose and I felt that my polyp had popped but after reading your comment it might have been connected to my decaying teeth.
