WOW at first I thought you guys were trying to see what weird crap you could get us dummys to put on ourselves. And then I got desperate at 3:00 in the morning and ran to pick up Borax, hyrd prox, and coconut oil. Oh and I got a strawberry/banana smoothie for my pain and suffering. I followed ya'lls instructions for the bath and afterward rubbed the coconut oil on. My skin looked immediately better, but I started feeling things crawl on my toes and then a few bites so I then squirted the clorox/water mixture all over my bed, around my bed on the side of the box springs and on the carpet and on me. I feel like I am at war with a micro organizm that I can not even see. I have never heard of coconut oil and what I bought was in the baking isle and looks like crisco but a taller narrower can. I thank you all for sharing your advice. I tried the apple cider vinegar first, it burned like a sun of a gun. And all they did was multiply. So, harmful or not, it seems to be working as I am not itching right now and honestly as much as I hate to hear the side affects of any medicine because then I feel like I have to make a choice of which problem will be the bigger headache, I AM SO FREAKING GLAD TO NOT BE ITCHING RIGHT NOW! I am going to snuggle up to my clorox bottle and put on my battle uniform of Pjs on and hopefully get a good night sleep thanks to all of yall!!!! So if anyone reads this and is hestitant, as God is my witness... It works!!!!! Maybe now I will get enough rest to fight this battle and win!!!

Borax, Hydrogen Peroxide, Clove Oil

I would like to thank everyone with their experience's and recommendation's. I have had this rash for approx. 10 days. I went to the ER to discover my worst fear, Scabies. I work at a Hotel and think I contracted this nasty disease there. My husband does not have any signs of the pest as of yet. After reading what permethrin is and what it can cause, and how effective it is, I became very, very scared. Apparently permethrin "use" to work but because the mites are insects and their life cycle is so short they have built up a immune to this toxic they are calling a drug.

After reading ALL posts in this forum I decided to try Borax w/H2O2. I made my bath with very hot water and added a cup of each and soaked for approx. 20 minutes. In a matter of minutes my skin stopped itching. My infestation is severe. I have a rash across my abdomen, my chest my entire back, buttocks elbows, inside and out.. Upper arms, upper things and back of my knees. I actually sat in the tub crying because I actually felt relief for the first time in 2 weeks. This disease has taken its toll on me, depriving me of sleep as many of you already know how it keeps us awake at night.

Once my skin air dried My husband applied the clove oil ( we mixed it with mineral oil, and he mixed it way to strong as it burned to the point I needed to wash it off) He is at the store now to buy more mineral oil. Its been an hour since my bath and I am itch free, my rash has even lightened up in color to a pinkish, instead of RED.

He sprinkled the Borax on the carpet (we removed our dog and cat).. Letting it sit for an hour and then vacuum it thoroughly. We plan on bleaching everything we can once he returns home, washing all bed linens and clothing.

I plan on keeping an update to this forum on my battle of this nasty pest. I hope my post provides testimony to anyone who is skeptical of using non-prescribed treatments.

Thank you again to all who posted this remedies, and god bless.

I waited to Post untill I was Healed.. BORAX & HYDROGEN PEROXIDE was the Key to Cure.... I went to the Doctor and he gave me Pemerthrin Cream & a strong antibiotic for staff infection. It helped but did not completly cure. I dusted my bed and couch & chair and Drivers Seat of the Car with Boric Acid and took evening Hot Baths in a plam full of Twentymule Team Borax & 1/2 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide after a few weeks... The bumps I was still getting was not from mites any more but reaction to the borax so I slowly went from a handfull of borax to the bath to a teaspoon to zero.. After a few weeks of no borax bath & the last of the bumps went away and I was healed. I learned that the reaction to the Pemerthrin & Borax on the skin is the similar symptons as the scabies ( But not as near as bad you can live with it )... You do have to finally stop all treatments and give the skin time to heal... The whole scabies journey was the most horrible situation I have ever experienced in my life.. For those that are scratching while reading this there is a way to sanity again: Borax & Hydrogen Preoxide Hot Baths every evening and you will get healed.... God Bless!

WORKED TEMPORARILY

I just now used the peroxide/borax solution and itching has let up. The most recent 'cure' was supposed to be clove oil - it stuns them into a stupor and they DO come back.

The silica powder, DE, just cannot accomplish the job, yet I go back to it over and over. Bleach has dessicated my skin... so there's that right along with the burrowing itch! Torment, torment, driving me to the edge.

Shocking to read of bleach or clove oil working for some and yet not for me.

It breaks my heart to think of children itching that bad.... if adults are unable to stand it - nearly going mad, ohhhh the children.

I'd like to read up on its life cycle: if we walk here, there in the house would it be their eggs we pick up on shoes/feet? How long can an egg on floor survive? Does the adult fall from our bedding and stay alive without me, the host, for days, weeks?

The Lab People who have had to get so up-close to do the studying - didn't they get the heebeejeebies figuring there's no way they're not going to get infected? Brave souls...

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak
Posted by Pixel (Grand Rapids, Michigan) on 10/20/2011

This worked for me. I have had scabies twice. The first time I just went to the doctor and got permetherin creme. After the first application it helped, but came back strongly in a week. I did a second dose and that finished the job. A year later I broke out with it in Germany. I looked into getting the creme again, but learned that in Germany the government requires you to report that you have scabies and they treat you and essentially quarantine you.

So I found this forum while looking for over the counter cures. I did some bleach baths, which seemed to help, but definately did not cure me. I then did the borax and Hydrogen peroxide baths, which worked perfectly. The results were immediate and compelling, but I did daily baths for a few days. I didn't want to take chances, so I did a few more baths over the next three weeks just in case I got reinfected from clothing or something, because I had not taken the time to steralize everything. I have been scabie free for about 8 months now. I feel much better about soaking in borax than rubbing permethrine cream all over my body. I believe borax is much safer, but I am not a doctor. I wish all doctors had the knowledge an honest to give out this proven cure.

Hi
I have finally figured out how to beat the scabies with ease.

1. Buy the Kleen Green big gallon 128oz so that you can soak and spray your environment.

2. Buy 20 mule borax or any other borax to soak clothes for 15 minutes, add a touch of kleen green too and then wash and dry on high heat.

3. Buy a scrub cloth to scrub your body.. u can also get sulfur soap if u like.

4. Get some diacotomus earth and put on your carpet the proper way... Check instructions first as this thing is very dusty, my vacuum turned white once I tried to vacuum. So check instructions on proper use and get dust mask if needed.

5. Be positive and say an affirmation everyday like healing and health is my birth right... Or everyday in everyway I am getting better and better. Say a prayer every morning and night, there is a spiritual aspect to this I believe.

6. Drink teas that detoxify your body, or find a way to detoxify your body and do not eat junk food at all...!

7. Thats it... U will be cured within a week or 2 if you are diligent. Also checkout scabies killer.com as they have an oil formula that is effective, or if u like just buy what they are offering as it is what I have figured out through trial and error and research online... They have a money back guarantee... So thats a nice thing :)... Ur choice... Also try the above at your own, risk... I dont want u to sue me for trying to help you...

Homeopathy: Psorinum 30

yea for Psorinum 30

After trying borax for another 2 months, laundry, bathing, etc. For the outbreak of mange in my area, and finally I developed scabies myself in the first week of December. I'm glad of it because I have found a better way to heal mange and scabies (cured 1 dog that was completely blackened and hairless and myself).

I read Peter Morell's PSORINUM http://www.homeoint.org/morrell/articles/pm_psori.htm and followed his protocol of 1 dose of psorinum 30 and to wait 2 months.

The first 5 days the itching was intolerable but within 9 days the scabs dried up. I got patches of scabies around my joints throughout the first month but without much itching.

I recommend this cure since it healed me and a dog already (he's already got most of his hair back) and please read to the end about surface cures, topical creams and aggravations.

Posted by Pregnant Mamma With Scabies Scare (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) on 01/06/2012

I am 24 weeks pregnant. We had relatives come to visit our home and after they left they informed us they found out they had scabies. My husband, our three year old daughter, and I watched our bodies the next few weeks for scabies signs and were relieved to find none.

Then about 6 weeks after their visit, I started to notice itchy bumps on my stomach. I freaked out. I found this website and scoured it for natural remedies due to the fact that I did NOT want to use the prescription cream while pregnant. I had read many facts online about how it hadn't been tested thoroughly on pregnant women to have a definite answer as to whether it was completely safe (although the doctor said it was... I didn't believe him). I take my pregnancies very seriously and did not want to cause any harm to my unborn baby. My husband and daughter never showed any signs of scabies but we had them use the cream anyways as a precautionary. Here is what I did for a natural cure for myself:

1. I took a bath 2-3 times a day in hot water for 20 minutes with 1 1/2 cups Borax and 1 1/2 cups hydrogen peroxide. Sometimes I added a cup of citrus mouthwash.

*Before getting into the bath I put my dirty clothes in a plastic bag and had my new clean clothes ready on the counter.

2. While in the bath I scrubed borax mixed with a bit of water in a small cup all over my body (like a body scrub) then washed off.

3. I drained the bathwater then took a shower. I used Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo on my head because of the sulfur it has.

4. I got out of the shower and air dried.

5. I used a 6 oz. Water bottle and filled it with 1/3 borax, 1/3 hydrogen peroxide, and 1/3 warm water (to dissolve the Borax). Then I sprayed it over my entire body then air dried.

6. I used a mixure in a bottle of 10 drops Tea Tree Oil, 10 drops Neem Oil, and 10 drops Clove oil, and filled the rest of the small bottle with Olive oil (as a carrier oil to not irritiate my skin). I rubbed it all over my body generously.

7. I put on my clean clothes and immediately wiped up the shower with disinfectant wipes and bathroom cleaner. I took the bag of dirty clothes and towel to the laundry room.

8. Every morning I stripped the bed linens first thing and put them in plastic bags. I put them in the washing machine with hot water, detergent, and 1/2 cup Borax, then dried on high heat. (I also used vinal plastic mattress covers under the linens so I could just wipe them down with disinfectant wipes.)

9. I never wore the same thing twice (and I didn't let my husband or daughter either). I was constantly washing something all day long. I washed blankets and hand towels, pillows, you name it.

10. Anything I didn't need immediately and was too difficult to wash I bagged up and put in the garage for about a week.

11. I sprinkled Borax all over the carpets, let sit for an hour, then vacuumed up. (I only did this once, but vacuumed daily.)

12. I disinfected the bathrooms, kitchen, doornobs, light switches, computer keyboards and mouse as much as possible.

13. I tried not to wear a coat or mittens or hat when going places so I had less to wash.

14. I used a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and warm water to spray all over the furniture, then vacuumed.

15. I prayed every minute of the day for strength and courage to keep pressing on even when I was tired.

After a few days of this regiment my itchy spots vanished. I continued for about a week for good measure. (I also had my husband and daughter take baths every day with 10 drops Tea Tree Oil).

The only problem I had was I kept finding tiny pin prick spots on my body (looked like teeny drops of blood). I freaked out thinking I was getting more scabies even though the bigger itchy spots were gone. The dermatologist assured me that those pin prick spots were blood vessels due to hormonal changes in my pregnant body. These could easily be confused with tiny scabies dots- so I was relieved to find out they were natural and no problem.

I will never know for sure if my itchy spots were scabies or not, but I for SURE did not want to risk it. All the hassle and stress was worth it to me if I caught scabies in the early stages. It was very stressful for me as a pregnant women worrying about my baby and finding natural methods to help. I hope this post helps any pregnant woman out there who thinks she may have scabies or any other type of mite!

I also started drinking a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in hot water with honey 2-3 times a day for good measure. I read it helps to balance the PH of the body (making you an unwanted host for a parasite) and has many other health benefits (like bowel movement regularity). I also stopped eating junk food and more fresh fruits and veggies.

For anyone dealing with scabies, I sympathize with you greatly. It stressed me out so much and no one can understand the emotional torment you go through in this situation. God bless you!

I joined just to help.

I'm not sure what I had but I thought it was scabies. Instead of going to the doctors and having them tell me their not sure what type of rash I have,

I treated myself for the worst possibility. I tried a lot of things, citrus oil, a little neem, vasiline, borax etc.

What I found is this:
1) use really hot water with a removal shower head and spray all affected areas. I would do this twice a day.

2) use Tea Tree Soap after spraying the affected areas.

3) I used a Tea Tree ointment after showering all over my body.

4) Wash or soak all clothing and bedding everyday in hot water until all signs of scabbies is gone. Add about a cup of borax to the water. The reason for washing your clothing everyday is scabbies are mites and they spread.

You should also vacuum carpets, spray vinegar water on chairs that you've used. Place all possibly contaminated clothing or bedding in plastic bags until you wash them.

I found that hot water works the best. The more hot water the better. You can see the bite areas start to heal the next day. The itching stops almost immediately. It takes a while for the bites to actually go away but you will see new bites stop appearing and you will notice a difference in the color of the bites.

The soap and ointment assist the hot water treatments. The nice thing about using a removable spray head is that you can reach every part of your body.

I just wanted to share my experience with others to help you relieve you problem the quickest way possible.

Try it! It worked for me. And it is cheap. Lol

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak
Posted by K8e (Surrey, Bc, Canada) on 08/29/2012

Be careful when buying DE to get FOOD GRADE diatomacious earth. DO NOT buy the stuff meant for pools, it is not the same and will not have the same effect. The stuff you want looks like flour, and can be applied topically or taken orally, but look it up online first for proper dosage. And also be very careful not to breathe it in, you may want to wear a mask and gloves if spreading it around your place. It is not toxic, however it has a very drying effect on your skin. It doesn't feel sharp to humans, but to insects the ground pieces have razor sharp edges that cut the exoskeleton of the insect/bug and dry it out. Taken internally it can help with worms and parasites, and used around your house it can help with all bugs like fleas, bed bugs, flys, mites, etc. It can be used in the garden as well, but is harmful to helpful, beneficial insects too. It's great stuff with many uses if you google it. You can buy it online, or I found it locally where livestock/horse supplies are sold as many use it on their animals.

Dear Coco,

I'm no expert, but from how you describe the mites as looking like long grains of white rice, but smaller, it sounds like head lice. The bleach you uses on your hair would kill the live lice, but not the lice eggs, so they would hatch and start the infestation all over again. You could use the lice killer shampoo from over the counter, but that exposes your body to toxins. I use a thick conditioner, slather it all over my scalp, wrap hair in plastic wrap, leave on for at least 12 hours, then use the little lice comb (can be picked up at pharmacy), and comb the eggs out. The problem with head lice is the lice are easy to kill, but the eggs just keep on living, unless removed from hair entirely. The eggs are incased in a glue sack that nothing over the counter or otherwise seem to desolve. From my experience, the conditioner sufficates the live ones, and makes the eggs detach from the hair follical more easily. I use the comb everyday for at least 3 days (as in put the conditioner back in your hair like you would after a shampoo), then comb them out. I repeat the whole process(conditioner plus plastic wrap)one week later incase I missed any eggs that might hatch. You will easily be able to see the eggs in the conditioner once they are combed out of the hair. Just smear the contitioner residue (from the comb) on a white paper towel, and you will be able to see the eggs. They appear to be black or dark tan with a tiny stalk on the end of them. They look similar to a poppy seed, but much smaller. As a rule scabies (at least in adults) do not effect the face or scalp. That occurs mostly on babies, or small children. I hope this helps. It can't hurt to try it. If nothing else, your hair will get a deep condition...

I went to the beach with my family about 2 or 3 months ago. Immediatley when we left the beach my right arm, where my elbow is or fold is, it began to burn & itch really bad. I figured I had just suffered from being sunburned. For about 2 - 3 days my arm itched like crazy and I figured it was dry/sunburned skin, so I kept putting lotion or aloe gel on the site. Until I noticed the trail inbedded under my skin. I knew it was scabies & or mites. Immediateley I changed all my bedding, clothes and made sure that I washed my hands regularly. The itching would be so bad that it would wake me every night. I couldn't stand it anymore. I dont have medical insurance to get a prescription from a doctor, so I came across this site. What a relief, I had to use household / holistic remedies to treat this. The Citrus Listerine/Mouthwash really works. I'd apply it the area, let it completly dry, then I would apply straight Orange Oil (you can get it @ health food stores for about $2-$3). I did this twice a day, if not more when needed, at night and in the morning. The itching has completley stopped, the discoloration is fading...THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for this home remedy, THIS ONE WORKS !!!! :)

The article details a study done on permethrin-resistant scabies. The results showed that a 6% clove oil mix with other oil killed the scabies within 15 minutes.

I think I got Scabies about 2-1/3 years ago. Sad to say, it was after Hugging a classmate that I hadn't seen for 50 years. She has multiple horses and dogs. I saw blood drops on the shoulders of her white blouse, but thought it was something like acne, not contagious. That hug gave me scabies within a short time, but I had never heard of scabies so I didn't know. I then came down with an Auto Immune illness and fought pain for 2 years. I was on Prednisone for a year and then Hydrocortisone. Plus I have been taking OTC allergy pills for 45 years, so they may have helped keep the scabies at bay. But they never really went away. Now I found this site and thank you Grannie from Miami, I tried the Petroleum Jelly. It's been about 28 hours and I can tell scabies do not like it. I covered most of my body with it and I could literally feel them rushing to my untreated feet. So I lavishly covered between my toes and feet to kill the suckers. I have also resisted scratching by rubbing in the PJ on the itchy spots. I wish I could say I'm free of them, but they do have 3 stages, I believe. 1. the live ones crawling on skin, 2. the buried eggs and 3.they hatching eggs which cause the itching. Since I've had them for so long, I expect it will take time to get rid of them. By the way, the reason Men have less problem with Scabies is because of their SHORT fingernails. I'm gonna go get the Citrus oil or spray today and try to finish the scabies off, once and for all. By the way, I also tried the Medicated Chest Rub, but it absorbs too fast and doesn't work, whereas the Petroleum Jelly is thicker. Thank you soooooooo much for this website.

think i may have found a way. i have been suffering for almost 18 months now and have tried the creams and soaps. i haven't takin the pill yet casue my doc won't let me. sayes it may be too toxic. so what i did was took a soda bottle and messured out to equal sections on the bottle and marked them. then i took bleach and filled it up to the 2nd line and the rest with water, or a 1 part bleach and 4 parts water. then i sprayed my whole body from top to bottom. the first night i didn;t feel anything in the lostest time. secound night was great too. i woke up in the morning and noticed 3 new spots on my arms and a couple on my legs. i mixed the bleach again and then did it the night after. its been two weeks now and haven;t have a singls bite yet. i did do it a couple more times a total of six times in a 3 week period. aside from washing my cloths and bedding as much as possable. i also sparyed my mattress with the bleach/water once a week. i really think i might be rid of them and hopefully for good. seeing as i have no idea were they came from i hope to never run into them again.

Hey everyone - the bleach and water work 100%... Not sure how good it is, but I am definitely seeing sign of improvement. I did permetherin 3 times and it didn't do much. I did Ivectermin/Stromectol and it helped.

Here is my cure:

Bed bug spray EVERYTHING -- it has permetherin in it. If you have it in your scalp use CVS 1% Lice shampoo.

Shower every night as hot as you can stand it, dry off and spray with water and bleach solution.

Spray the bed with bug spray, get in bed. Leave Window open to circulate air, fumes I am sure are not good for you.

Wake up, shower and scrub gently with a KITCHEN (yes, I said KITCHEN scrub pad to remove dead skin, and dead Scabies and whatever they leave behind), spray again. Spray everything with bug spray and bleach/water solution - wash everything daily.

After a few days you should see sign of improvement.

This has ruined my summer 2011; I have been in despair... So down over it. Cost $$$ and I have had it since the beginning of May... it's now August.

I have red marks all over my chest and upper legs, and some inside my arms. But it gets better.

God knows what all these chemicals are doing to my body, but I was desperate, I am hoping I am through the worst of it now.

Don't give up!

Non-chlorine bleach is in the laundry areas of stores sold as color safe bleach. It has Sodium Carbonate and Sodium Percarbonate that releases peroxide when mixed with water. Many big name brand color safe bleach products have this. But make sure it doesn't have other chemicals added.

It is gentler on the skin than chlorine, for sure.

Hello everyone, I am so so so thankful that I found this website! 3 doctors told me not to worry, it would be gone in a few weeks... Did the cream 2x, 3 doses of ivermectin... I am doing 2 more ivermectin.. And I am still not 100%. HOWEVER THE GOOD NEWS!!!!!!! I think the bleach and water is working! Finally! I don't feel that creepy crawly feeling after doing the bleach last night, and tonight after the gym I am doing the borax and peroxide bath, followed by the bleach. Of course, I am washing sheets towels every day, and washing clothing... And the clothing I can't wash - ie coat, a blazer for work, gets put in the dryer for 30 min on high when I get home.

Don't forget shoes... I have been spraying them inside and out with bedbug and flea spray.

Sofa and desk chair covered with plastic, and also I wipe all of my toiletries with alcohol - razor, tweezer, and also wipe off pencils and lipsticks...

Hairbrushes - put in a pillowcase and put in the dryer for 30 min on high, to be certain.

I'll keep everyone posted on my journey with this. God bless, and I hope everyone keeps up and gets through this awful thing.

i have had scabies for about 4 months. at first i thought i was allergic to my socks but i found out it is scabies. i have tried oregano oil to expensive at 30 dollars an ounce or less. the best luck i have had is over the counter rid x flea and tick treatment its a shampoo but i put it all over my head and body and it did bring relief but no cure. today the enzymes arrived so i tried them i sprayed them all over my body but i did not notice any relief and this morning at 3:00 i woke up and ended up scratching both of my legs which i did not really want to do. i treated them with hydrogen peroxide then witch hazel then calomine so that the itching might stop. which it has it is now 4:00 in the morning. nothing has worked so far, its a battle or a war. i am going to find some poke root and try that also im going to try borax soak. i am also using alcohol and orange based cleaner that does seem to help. one thing i did that i do not recommend is cortizone cream it makes them larger so stay away from that. all with scabies you have my deepest sympathy may god help you and if you have scabies you know im not kidding

you can buy the orange essential oil at any place that sells essential oils for very little money - around 2 or 3 dollars. then put some in a spray bottle and dilute with water and use it OR mix it with the carrier oil of your choice and use it after your bath. i have also had luck putting about 9 drops of the straight orange oil into my bath water. smells good and scabies DO NOT like it.

When scabies are worse the next day after treating them. It is a sign you have disturbed their nest and they're fighting back! Think about when you step on a hornet's nest. They attack. Scabies are the same. They want you to stop putting poison on them so they go wild. Don't stop treating. Keep going!

an Australian study conducted last year, we decided to give clove oil a go. We are having excellent results after 2 days. We are diluting 1 part clove oil to 3 parts grapeseed oil. Cover entire body including scalp. For genitals and, nose and eyelids we are using 1 part clove oil to 9 parts grapeseed oil as it can sting when applied. Well worth a try we have tried everything out there.

Scabies can only live 72 hours without a host. So long weekend away from house and come back they will be dead.

Multiple Remedies

Jethro Kloss, in his book titled "Back to Eden", recommends the following natural remedy for Scabies:

"Before each application of the following salve, thoroughly wash the affected parts with tar soap. All clothing must be washed in boiling water. When the clothes cannot be washed or boiled, press them with a hot iron to destroy any insects that may be on them. Take one tablespoon of each of the following: burdock root, yellow dock root, and yarrow. Steep them in a pint of boiling water for a half hour. Strain through a cloth into a cooking pan (not aluminum), and add one pound of cocoa fat or Crisco. Boil this slowly, stirring frequently until it has boiled down to the consistency of a salve. This is an excellent salve for itch or eczema of any kind."

"If students are found to be infected with the scabies mite, they should be kept at home until cured. Frequent washing of the body is necessary. There are now many lotions available for the treatment of scabies that are very effective. These lotions should be applied to the entire body below the neck and washed off the following day. One or two additional treatments at weekly intervals may be necessary to rid the body of all the mites."

Kill scabies with a bar of sulphur soap and sulphur drops in your bath.

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Paste, High Heat

Skip the MD's--they are taught Permethrin cream and oral Ivermectin--this does not work for difficult cases. Reading these posts will make you more informed than them. Other learned truths: Scabies definitely becoming resistant to most treatments, Tea Tree oil must be diluted before applying or you will get a chemical burn, Pet stores and Amazon great locations to get Permethrin and Ivermectin (but be sure to dilute to human percentages--e.g. Permethrin must be 5% so dilute with half water), must vacuum daily (you are shedding critters), must wash clothes in hot water and dry in hot dryer 30 min. to be safe, you will continue to itch for 2-3 weeks but no new bites, hair dryer as hot as you can stand on spot of bite works, too.

Now, order the 4 pack of Borax on Amazon and go to the dollar store to get the Hydrogen Peroxide.

1.Run a bath as hot as you can stand (they cool off quickly) and boil 2 cups of water to which you slowly add 1 cup of Borax while stirring constantly, then add one cup Peroxide (the 3% normal stuff sold everywhere). Pour this concoction into your hot bath, swirl it around and get in and soak for 30 minutes (don't forget to dip your head into the bath at the end--they are on your scalp and in your hair, too, just like dogs).

2.When done get 1/2 cup Borax and 1/2 cup Peroxide, mix together and apply head to toe while standing in your empty tub (if you have someone to heat your Peroxide before mixing that will make a smooth paste, otherwise the rough Borax may irritate your skin but works just the same).

3. Use a hair dryer to blow dry the concoction on your skin (don't go near water--electrocution risk). Dry hair and put a disposable plastic shower cap over your head to sleep.

4. Put on clean clothes, put your old clothes and used towel/washcloth directly into plastic bag and take to laundry room.

5. If you feel a bite (bites are sharp like a needle piercing your skin, itching is not sharp) get the hair dryer and blow the spot at the highest temp you can take without burning your skin--start close then slowly increase distance away from skin and work back to close again, do this for about 20 seconds. Critters don't like heat and the goal is to kill them before they lay their eggs.

6. Continue baths, post-bath Borax/Peroxide for 1-2 weeks. You should feel better day by day, especially if using the hairdryer trick, too.

Wash all bedding/towels daily (put plastic protectors over your mattress and pillow), all clothing worn daily. Wash in hottest temp and then, if possible, dry in sun before drying in dryer for 30 min. at hottest setting. Let clothing/bedding/towels go unused for 3 days after washing before using again. I have read the critters die after 2-3 days off a person, but I also read where some lived for 18 days! We want them gone!! If you can sleep away from others, even better.

Make a spray of your pet/livestock store 10% permethrin and water in a spray bottle (1 oz. Permethrin to 4 oz. water) and spray everywhere you touch--chairs, sofa, bed (with bedding removed), pillow, area in laundry room where you put your plastic bags with dirty linens, inside dryer, inside washing machine, hairbrush and comb, laundry basket, car seats, steering wheel, arm rest, etc. Vacuum daily all rugs, tile, floors. Sprinkle Borax on all carpets and let sit overnight before vacuuming up the next day (wear a face mask so you don't inhale)-- Do this once. I also sprayed all carpets and floors and furniture with the Permethrin solution but I don't think that's necessary and it makes your house smell toxic--air it out and use fans to blow the smell away. Spray can be applied to furniture and car seats daily. After 2 months of unsuccessful treatments I was willing to try everything. They also tell you to make a skin lotion of Coconut oil (the kind you buy for cooking) and Tea Tree oil (also available on Amazon, use 5 drops per ounce of oil) but this just made a greasy feel and can't say it repelled anything--may make your skin sting from sore spots or if you rubbed the Borax in too hard. Hair dryer trick much better and instant relief. Don't lotion up until baths and post-bath solutions are done--the goal is to change the Ph of your skin and repel them and lotion invites them.

Do the baths, Borax/Peroxide after-bath, Hair dryer, and clean, clean, clean, and you should be good within 2 weeks or less. A dose of Ivermectin doesn't hurt, but at $90 a prescription can't say it helps, either. Dosing yourself in Insecticide (Permethrin) and leaving it on only causes it to create toxic response as it is absorbed into your body and liver (I did this, too) and the Permethrin alone doesn't do the job unless you only have one or two red spots under your watch band, between your fingers, at your waist or under your bra (critters like tight, warm spots to live).

Good luck, you will survive this.

Tea Tree Oil, Coconut Oil, Epsom Salt

I had scabies since November 2023- so for 6 months now. I tried the counter medicines- ivermectin and permethrin but they were not strong enough to eradicate the problem.
I had crusted scabies on my arm and so these medicines helped to reduce the infection but didn't get rid completely.

one time I went to the dermatologist and she gave me four rounds of the treatment.
I expected it to help but then the scabies spread to my back, stomach and neck in a very bad way.

I started to use natural remedies _ coconut oil unrefined (cold pressed- this is important aspect! ) and warmed it up with tea tree.

well this also seemed to make it worse, I even tried putting the diatomaceous powder on my skin to suffocate them.

I started to think the scabies must be bad in my house, since I live in a studio apartment. Even though I was cleaning thoroughly it felt that I kept getting reinfected.

Eventually, I went to stay in a community for 10 days, with fresh bed sheets and towels. I just took two bags with fresh clothes that I had washed at 60 degrees.

I took the cold pressed coconut oil with me and a box of Epsom salts (magnesium salt) and a box of regular table salt. Every evening I would take a bath and put Epsom salts in it and have a good soak. My skin would feel very itchy and then I'd rub the skin with regular salt. This stung like crazy but I know it killed the scabies. I would leave the salt to sit on my skin for 15 mins and then wash it off. After the bath I would cover my whole body in coconut oil ( be sure to also have short fingernails) and leave it on overnight. In the morning I would put another round of coconut oil on my skin.

This has really helped.

I am now back home and am almost clear of them. I still use coconut oil every day. I don't have a bath here but if an area is itchy I rub Epsom salts into the affected area or tea tree which is great for the itch.

I hope this helps you all!!
