MRSA outbreaks in Thailand? Possibly it comes from the pollutants and birds (excellent carriers for many diseases, bugs, etc) here in my home. However, boils outbreak I think is difficult but they tend to occur during the "vegetarian festivities" here in Thailand.

The reason why is really simple, most white flour which is used in cooking during the festivities is used in the food, so people consume more.

They are very acid forming food, next to soda pop that is banned in schools in U.S. at least, but not here. Some milk actually added fluoride, so that doesn't help either. These acid forming food, especially flour, do get easily contaminated quite easily with fungus, etc. The body's immune system simply stops for about 2 hours in presence of sugar, the fact that some cola adds phosphoric acid simply make things worse.

The outbreak, therefore is more tied to the diets which lowers your immune system, such as sugar, and white flour found in bread being the worse offender of these MRSA and an outbreak as well as weight gain often occur or coincide during and after the vegetarian festivities.

I am not a pro meat or a pro vegetarian either. What I am saying is white flour is one of the worse offenders of acid forming food (next to soda pop) and the rise in use of sugar often rises to coincide with the vegetarian festivities. I once got a terrible boils in the buttocks similar to Kathryn, but the source of it i knew to be ice cream, but chocolate or cocoa strangely enough causes pimples but not boils.

So the way to stop boils at least for me was taking plenty of zinc, chromium, vanadium and baking soda to alkalize my body. Drain whatever pus that occurs in the boils to dry them.

Being especially careful to avoid both sugar AND acid forming food is the best way to remove these antibiotic resistant out of the body. You don't have to buy an elaborate lists of kinds of acid forming list, just remember to simply stay away from sugar and flour. They are easier to remember, getting too particular can confuse you. Certain supplements, you need to be wary if you take too much as they too are acid forming, whose supplements name have the words "hydrochloride", such as pyridoxine hydrochloride, a vitamin B6. A better substitute is pyridoxal 5 phosphate.

Antibiotics no longer works with me, actually it had not work for at least 10 years now, regardless of the kinds of antibiotics I use. And this is why I have remedies to get around this issue for at least 10 years now. Ted

Iodine will kill MRSA. If you dilute it in water you could massage it into your scalp.

If you are taking an antibiotic remember to take a good probiotic at the same time or you will end up with Candida down the track.

I LOVE this site!

I would like to say that I just discovered that if there are infected hair follicles (or boils, etc. ) that this could be caused by colonized staph. I have suffered from this on my scalp for almost 7 years. (I've seen internists, dermatologists, infectious disease doctors... None have been able to diagnose or even offer a satisfactory treatment... I even had a biopsy which showed nothing! ~ useless ointments, dandruff & medicated shampoos, tar treatments, etc, only left my hair broken and damaged ~ NO relief from the painful knots & sores on my head.)

Last year, after a dental oncologist suggested that I may have colonized staph from being in the hospital so long, I began researching that. I discovered from more than one source, that if Folliculitis continues, the Dr. might want to do a nasal culture for staph."

WHY hadn't any Doctor suggested this to me?

(I should also add that I had recurring Cellulitis for over 4 years, also caused by staph. ) Well I went to my EENT, on my own, and had the nasal culture done. When the results were back, I was kind of expecting him to say it was staph... but what he said floored me! It was Staph_MRSA!

He is treating me with at least 20 days of Doxycycline, at which time he will do another nasal culture.

I am also going to get Turmeric (organic) capsules to take, but must be careful because I am diabetic. 'Also found it can interact with some acid reflux medicines such as Nexium. But I am determined to use it!

Please also see my post on Comfrey, "The Miracle Herb", I am using that, as well, on my scalp.

I had the same problem with MRSA sometime ago and nothing would cure it, I even went to the hospital for about 3 days with heavy medication (Zyvox) and morphine, yeah, really, morphine for the pain. It was not until I found this great site that I tried the turmeric and organic apple cider vinegar to balance my ph. And it worked!!! I took the turmeric and the ACV for about 3 months though, I was decided to get rid of it. About two months ago (I did not have a sign of it, not even a pimple) I got a small boil, very small though, on my knee, but it went away rather quickly. This stuff works!

What an inspiring story, Sharon! You've been through so much but you obviously have never given up. You have a wonderful and wise Mom! I love onions and eat them raw (don't like them cooked, though). Whereas my husband won't eat them and, right now, is suffering from a cold. I don't know if it's the onions that are keeping me from getting it but they certainly aren't doing me any harm (other than "onion breath"). Thanks for sharing your home remedy. Good luck and may your health continue to improve. Cheers, Bess

My name is Sharon and I have had over 15 major back and hip surgeries. I have had many doctors work on my back since 1990 for 3 messed up disc. In 1994 and 1995 I had to have screws placed in my SI Area in both of my hips! That helped me get out of a wheel chair. In 1995 I broke 1 of my screws in my right hip and had to have it removed they replaced the screws with a large metal wedge! 1997 I had metal plates placed in my lower back area covering the L3, L4, L5 area. I stayed in the hospital over a month. On my way home I had a lot of pain in my right hip. My Doctors said to go to ER and get a shot. While there the Dr. said it looked like my right hip scar was hot and red-to go home and lay on a ice pack. I did so.

The next morning I woke up and could not straighten up. I felt my back area and there was something protruding out of my back. I went to the restroom to look at it in the mirror and when I seen this baseball size mound on my spine, I sat down and my whole back exploded out. I then was rushed to the Atlanta Medical Hospital where the disease control center said I had MRSA (Staff Infection) in my back really bad. They had to remove the metal from my back and my right hip. In the process my spine became broke into several pieces and half of my right hip also. I ended up having my entire spine removed from L3 down to S1! No disc and no virtabra at all. My doctors took pieces of my bone and made a bone bridge and grafted it into my back from L2 branching over to the crest of each of my hip bones. Think of a turkey wish bone. That is what my spine looks like. I was under their care for over 2 years but the infection would not go away. I was on every medication known to man. And in 1999 I had my 2 lines clot up in my hickmon port that was placed in my chest. This was how I was taking medication into my body for the infection. It was keeping me alive. When I went to the ER to get the lines unclotted they damaged the line and had to pull it out. The doctor sent me home from the ER and I called my doctor's and they said we are so sorry, that I only had 3 weeks to live- there was no more medication that I could take. My home nurse that was cleaning out my whole in my back (7 inch x 3 in deep hole) she was released.

I called my mother she had heard about the onion being used for infections many years ago. And she went to the store and bought a 5 pound bag of white onions. She took each onion and peeled them and then placed each one at a time on plate in the microwave for 1 min. Till they were soft. She carried a platter full of them into my room and took some saline water that was left behind by the nurse and poured it into my hole then she took a turkey baster and removed the fluid from my hole. She then took these warm oions and placed them inside of my back filling the entire hole. It was so nice the warmth of the onions felt like a heating pad inside of me. She then layed gauze over top of it and then a ace bandage and wrapped it around my waist. She did this 4 times a day for 4 months. My back started to heal up really fast to where there was only a 1 inch hole in my 4th month. I went back to my doctors and they run a culture on me there was no more MRSA. Dr. DeBoise at the Disease Control center in Atlanta, Ga. was so amazed at what he seen and I told him what my mother did. After that the infection never came back again. I continue to use onion's for toothaches, and any cuts I get. I am living proof of it and I am now 48 years old and it is 2011 Thank you Lord for your natural cures and this wonderful onion plant it saved my life.

MRSA on a 3 year Old Boy

I have been fighting MRSA for the last two years. It got so bad just recently that after a round of 10 days of Doxicycline I immediately broke out right after the tenth day as if I had not been taking any antibiotics. During that period, I found this website and began treating my MRSA by taking 3 pills of Pro-Biotics and drinking Acai Berry Juice 4 times a day. I mean its gone!!! Unfortunately, most regretably and horrendously, my son has contracted MRSA. Here's the question. How do I treat him for MRSA with this regiment that I am following. Pro-Biotics say is for adult use only. What's the dosage for my little 3 year old? I know going to the doctor would be an absolute waste. Thanks for your help.

Yes, usually fruits contain lots of sugar. I'm not sure about banannas, but from what I've read on other websites you should avoid fruit. On the other side of the barricade we have dark green vegetables that seem help.

Important note: It is likely that the first garlic bath will bring existing boils to a head. (This may make boils/rashes appear worse after the first bath. ) But, keep going... things should improve rapidly with subsequent baths.

Also, trust your intuition. If you sense skin irritation, take a couple days off. If you are bathing children, use less garlic and shorter baths.

Manuka Honey

This was a miracle topical cure for me. I have a mild case so I understand, but my sores still stung like crazy. I heard about MGO 550 Manuka honey and ordered it. Amazon.com has it the cheapest around. I went directly to the manufacturer and got the 550/250, the strongest I could find. Spread it on a sterile gauze pad and within seconds no more sting. Amazing. It's been 24 hours and when I take off the pad and wait about an hour the stinging recurs. I am on day 6 of this disease and am also pain free. My body still aches, but no pain.

I thought I'd provide details of my experience, mainly because this wasn't available when I got MRSA and this resulted in several trips to the emergency room when I got an infection instead of an occasional inconvenience that sucks but I can handle myself.

Going to a Dr. can be a valuable step in dealing with MRSA, but even if you do this, you may still get boils. It's an anti-biotic resistant bacteria the medical establishment doesn't know how to treat. They have had some luck with sulfa antibiotics with some strains, go ahead and try - I'm allergic to sulfates, so I have had to find prevention and maintenance regimes.

Other pieces of advise my Dr's have recommended are:

Scrub with Hibiclense in bath and apply around nose frequently (bacteria can live a long time inside your nose and if you have face infections this is a sign this will especially help), bathe with bleach if you have an infection. I've tried tea-tree oil too, and have found little difference with the effectiveness of Hibiclense, but I think you do need something stronger - unfortunately Bleach is the best I found - if you have active infections to prevent spreading.

As far as how to handle existing infections, I've really had to do this on my own. Here's what I found:

Immediately bandage any suspected infection with a fabric bandage and ichthammol ointment - about 20% strength usually petroleum jelly or lanolin filler, often labeled "drawing cream", sometimes with some other sulfates added, at rite-aid, online, or can be ordered from most pharmacies. This drawing cream was used on staph infections and boils prior to the advent of antibiotics, and is still effective after the use of antibiotics stopped working with MRSA.

It's important infections are constantly covered, as soon as you notice a pimple that starts to feel sore - if it was just a pimple it will go away quicker too. It does stain fabric and is messy and somewhat musty smelling. But this treatment will allow boils to swell to a head and drain much quicker, so they do not get as large and painful and risk infecting lymph nodes, etc.

Once an infection has started to drain, you should squeeze the infection. In the emergency room this is done by placing one hand in a circle around infection while squeezing from the outside to the inside with the other hand. This is gross, but will eliminate the infection quicker. Usually a hard pus 'seed' needs removed or the sore will reinfect. Sometimes tweezers are necessary for this. Occasionally, if a infection grows too large - lets say 2 inches of swelling- , or is close to a lymph node or other sensitive area, like a spine or throat - this should probably be done by a Doctor in the emergency room. They will have to treat you even with no insurance, mention MRSA you will get a room very quick, say you're homeless and have no ID if you have to but do go to the emergency room. Although how to lance is somewhat self-explanatory, sterilization is nearly impossible and it's extremely painful and would be really hard for a person to do to themselves. If you are able to drain your own infection, immediately wash with a lot of bleach. Now wash the sink, floor around you and entire area with bleach. Now go shower and scrub with bleach. This will help prevent other infection on yourself - or worse, infecting your family.

After you think your infection has drained, it still needs to stay under a ichthammol fabric bandage. Otherwise reinfection of the sore is common. Leave a bandage on for one more week, change daily and squeeze opening for any remaining discharge, if you get more pus restart your week.

I have started taking Turmeric in addition to my other supplements after looking through this site which has further decreased infection frequency I think.

My family (self, hubby, children, father, mother-in-law, sister, niece, nephew... ) suffered from recurrent MRSA skin infections for several years. At the worst of it, my husband had multiple boils the size of baseballs over his legs and backside. My sister and her 2-yr-old daughter went through half a dozen types of antibiotics over the course of a year, and even after resistance tests the MRSA would recur a month or two later. We saw infectious disease doctors, pediatriciants, naturopaths... We disinfected everything over and over. We eliminated sugar, white flour, preservatives, dyes, and MSG from our diets. (We lost a lot of weight and my allergies cleared up, but the MRSA kept returning.)

One night, after hours of prayer, I stumbled across a page by Bob Anderson (garlic farmer) on the MRSA Forum USA. He explained that while the allicin in garlic is potent enough to destroy MRSA on contact, it does not survive in stomach acid and therefore doesn't reach the skin when injested. He recommended bathing in garlic water. Sure enough, within a week my husband and both of my boys had clear skin!! In the 4 months since we tried garlic baths, my husband has had only one recurrence (which happened after we stayed a week in the home of someone else who had MRSA) and one garlic bath cleared up the boil overnight. WOW! What a relief! Praise God, whose "medicine" is so brilliantly complex (and free from side-effects).

How-To:

1. Crush 4-6 cloves of non-irradiated garlic (look for white/green sprout in middle of each clove)

2. Let stand 30-90 minutes to allow allicin to develop.

3. Add garlic to warm bath. Submerge as much of the body as possible.

4. Soak for an hour or two, two or three times a week.

@ busycagal, , , yes boils are mrsa.. There is only one antibiotic that can take care of it and that is Bactrim.. I believe that is the generic version.. Mrsa lives on us and in our noses etc but can become infectious and even deadly.. The infection is often found in the ear.. The boils are on the inside.. Some women even contract them vaginally and are misdiagnosed there as well and treated with the wrong antibiotics... I would suggest that every time you see a doctor for your daughter that you demand a culture everytime.. When they confirm mrsa get the whole family treated and sterilize the house.. No drinking after each other or other people... Get your daughters partners treated if she is old enough to have one... You may also need to know that your doctor will try to convince you that you are over reacting , , but still insist and suggest that they contact the center for disease control to educate themselves fully on this subject..

I myself had this issue for some time.. My doctor refused to do cultures and pretty much belittled me as though I was over reacting.. I was very sick and finnally after months and demanding he prescribe the correct medicine.. > He wouldn"t even do the cultures... Finally I scheduled with another doctor in his office and he did the culture right away... I went back to my doctor to show him and he finally called the center for disease control and found out that he was wrong... He called me immediately to apologize and called in a new prescription.. He said that he and most doctors dont take it so seriously and didnt realize how serious an infection it really is.. He was dumfounded that people are really dying from this infection.. He really is a great doctor and I am comfortable with him.. He just believed what he believed.. He even had my and my boyfriend be treated at the same time for 30 days to make sure it was gone.. My stomach flattened and my sinus problems disappeared.. not really allergies like we all thought after all..

I have cousins that pass it around the family, drink and eat after each other.. One gets it and a month or so later another gets it.. They think nothing of it.. Oh its only mrsa.. my doctor said not to worry about it...

so sad.. Even the babies.. When I had it for that period of time, ovvr and over for about a year, it caused clouded thinking and forgetfulness.. Fatigue, .. your daughter may seem lazy when in reality she has an infection causing her to have difficulty in her concentration...

My auto loan lenders father died from a mrsa infection that same year.. that is what started my researching it so deeply or I too would have probably believed my doctor and still been sick or worse..

I would suggest the prescription for 30 days and then a healthy body cleansing regime after to repair her body after the bout of antibiotics..

good luck to you and I hope this helps..

Wishing you a wonderful day! :)

Hi Ted,

I am hoping you can please help. I gave birth to twins April 27th, 2011 and ended up with masititus immediately following. I am so blessed the twins have not been affected thus far. June 1st, 2011 I had an IND done on the inside of my left breast and was informed that I was heavily infected with MRSA. I was put on all the latest and greates antibiotics. I had reactions to most of them and was sent home on June 10th with clyndamyocin for 15 days. Meanwhile some of my lymphs nodes well swelling while I was on the antibiotics and a continual hard mass remained somewhat nest to the incision. Once the incision closed over I started putting honey on my breast to keep away the MRSA and help with scarring.

On July 15th I started to have a rash outbreak on the outside of my left breast. It was blistery So everywhere I was applying the honey (manuka honey) there was no sign of infection. So if you can picture a square-like area on breast was free and clear of the infection. This gave me faith that the honey was working. So I appliead Honey all over the affected area and the scarred area.

On Jul 16th I went and bought a large quantity of turmeric, coconut oil, epsom salt, organic acai berry juice, tea tree oil. This morning I had noticed redness and cellulitus on the inside of my left breast, where the mass is. I immediately started taking the turneric and applying the tea tree oil and drinking the acai juice. I later washed with the epsom salt and applied coconut oil to my legs. I have also had a continual bad case of folliculitus on my legs ever since I contracted the mrsa.

On July 17th the area on the inside of my breast is gone and the outside are looks all scabbed over like scrath. It looks as if nothing more is there. I am still applying tea tree oil and then honey all over my breast, as well as taking the turmeric (3 teaspoons a day) I also drank a glass of acai berry too. Things appear better on the outside. However, my breast is swollen and once this started I had aching in my breast that extends into my back and left arm. If I wear anything other than a sports bra aching will extend into my left leg. This aching is still there and the swellingis also there though the outside appears healed.

My theory is the mass is old milk colonized or infected with mrsa that didn't surface with the majority of everything else. I am fearful I am going to have another surgery. I do not want to take antibiotics because of the affects. I just order some colloidal silver tincture and soap. I rarely drink soda and I eat gluten free.

I am also being seen by a surgeon who wanted me to take antibitotics and agreed if I didn't have a fever that I don't need them.

What would you recommend? Also my multivitamin has B-6 in it. Were explaing that B-6 should be avoided? I was unclear in your explanation.

Thanks you.

If you shave under your arms then I would stop and just trim the hair with scissors. If you are used to shaving this can be quite a change but a worthwhile one. If using deodorants try instead some of the suggestions on this site. Including the one about using 'no soap' just a washer and water, personally I have found it remarkable, even though it goes against all that we are taught about cleanliness. Try and wade through the pages on MRSA here on EC for the success stories. I would definitely be using turmeric (with added pepper for absorption enhancement and as it contains both fat soluble and water soluble components you need a little fat with it not just water to get the best results from it). Also iodine applied in the armpits occasionally, and oregano oil (1-3 drops diluted in a teaspoon of ev olive oil) applied also in the armpits occasionally will help. I would also not shave the legs as this aggravates folliculitis and try the olive oil with the oregano oil. Good luck.

My son has had 2 staph infections, he would get these clusters of bumps that start out like pimples and then turn into an infection. He recently had another outbreak on his leg, 3 bumps, I immediately rubbed garlic on it and it disappeared the next day. A few days later it came back in another spot, after almost 2 weeks of trying to get rid of it, I found this product called PHenomenal. After 2 days of using this water/gel it was gone like magic. I even tried a little on my face for acne and it cleared me up. I highly recommend it, it worked great for my son!
