DMSO

For knee pain I use DMS0 diluted from 99.9 percent down to 70 % using distilled water. I put the DMSO into a small spray bottle and put arnica spray or gel on first and then spray my knees and around the sides a bit down my leg.
Don't put on colored clothing right away as the DMS0 takes everything you put on the skin and sucks it into the tissue and into deeper parts of the body. Dyes on the pants could come off and get on your wet skin and the DMSO will take that into the tissues also.
Just sit around and let it get absorbed. Works wonders!! I can walk without any pain.
Castor Oil Packs, Flaxseed Oil

Regarding knee-joint pain remedies specifically, I can attest to the efficacy of cold-pressed Castor-oil packs, wrapped in saran-wrap and followed by an Ace bandage or neoprene knee-brace. Use overnight for a minimum of four nights and my nagging ache disappeared. I now take Flaxseed oil capsules which are seemingly, keeping my knee free of daily pain.

I've been taken about 1/4 teaspoon borax in water 2/3 week (for past 3 years) and it helped my clicking knees..
I found it best in a cup of tea with spoon full honey, you cannot taste it at all..

I know these messes well. The boron tablets are different than the borax soap foot soak. I use a pinch in a 2 gal bucket and soak for an hour. ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. Month one I did it once a week. Month two twice a week. Still a pain, here there and everywhere. One day the victory of complete mineral balance will manifest and I will be stronger again. Walter Last wrote a nice article on boron, as a biochemist, he shares a lot of information...google it

Hello again Gracie of Nottingham,
I am relieved that you are now in possession of a sound diagnosis for your debilitating knee problem and can see your way clear to a resolution.
It is a bit grim to have to resort to surgery but needs must I suppose. Did you have an accident to your knee?
I hope you will keep us informed as to how the surgery and your subsequent recovery turns out.
The Hemp oil I mentioned and Turmeric/Ginger are often recommended for their pain relieving properties by the way.
You probably won't want to be rubbing Castor oil or anything else into that knee any time soon!!?
Say hello to Robin Hood, Little John and Maid Marrion for me!
Best wishes,
Michael

Gustavo: The best hypothesis at this point would be a chronic infection. If you have no metal medical device or part, Zapping will help. Borax, administered orally help w/ joint infection (read the cures section here on E.C. for more info). Magnet or light therapy may also help.

Love you Mama to many. You are always giving good advice/remedies. Today after six years again having severe pain, in knee and calf muscle, was looking at Earth clinic and realized that I didn't thank you for your encouraging words. Thank you dear.

It is possible that ACV caused your rash. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Consider that rashes are very common during rapid detoxification. I have seen this many times. It is likely that the ACV caused rapid detox. Consider using less ACV to start, but I'd stick with it and give it some time. ACV is the 3rd most popular remedy on this site. Be sure to use Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.
Exercise

For me exercise eliminates knee pain. I have also had meniscus issues in one knee for at least 6 years now after a particularly hard training session at my dojo in Los Angeles. I kept walking the dog after the injury, but didn't go back to karate for a good week. I did resume my training after a week and my knee felt better in 3 weeks. Now, oddly, my medial meniscus becomes inflamed only if I stop exercising for more than a week. When it does, I know I need to get back to exercising asap. Overnight the pain and inflammation diminishes to almost nothing. It's very peculiar thing.

Ya exercise is the only thing that relieves knee pain for me too. I think it's because you force blood to go the the pain area and that starts the healing process laying on the couch and doing nothing is the worse thing you can do for a weak knee.

I had knee pain for years. My knees were so swollen I could not even see them. The doctor prescribed NSAIDS, but I am not sure how much difference it made. I bought various things for arthritis, but nothing really helped. It did no harm. Then I started to read up on it, and most things i took contained Ginger, tumeric and others. I started taking Tumeric on its own 3 capsules a day and within 7 days my knees were almost pain free!!! i would recommend tumeric to anyone..

Update on my knee pain. Now that I've been doing the leg stretches for 3 days (I've done them every 3-5 hours during the day), the knee pain (plus leg muscle pain) is 100% gone. I'm assuming that it would return if I stop the leg bend/stretches, so I'll continue to do them, just not as often.

I am a runner and was restricted due to pain in my knees. Calcium and glucosimine suppliments were not effective, until I learned that Vitamin K is crucial for calcium absorption. In Japan Vitamin K is prescribed for osteoporosis. I am now able to run without pain. I take about 5 times the RDA daily of vitamin K with my calcium.
Cold Showers

I am very delighted to read all the good positive stories about cold water shower healing. Allow me to share my story.
I am a Moslem (from Indonesia), and the month of Ramadhan (fasting) was just over. For those not familiar with this, Moslems fast for 30 days during the Ramadhan month, every day, wake up at dawn (around 3 AM), have meal, fast during the day (no drinking no eating no sex), and break the fast at around 6 PM.
I have this problem with my right leg knee, it gives me pain when I bend during a prayer. For one month of Ramadhan, I "practiced" the cold water shower each time I wake up, at around 2:30 AM. After that, I pray (the so called "night prayer"), and have meal. To the best of my knowledge there is no reference in Al Quran about taking shower at "night", although there is the so called "night prayer" which is not obligatory, but very strongly advised for Moslems, and it takes time somewhere between 2:30 and 3:30 AM. We call it the "last one-third of the night".
I just felt I had to heal myself this way, because I heard many times especially from elders and those "natives" coming from rural villages, of cold water shower "healing", which normaly takes time between 2 and 4 AM. Many people here say, it's not healthy to take shower at night, before 12 AM, but it's healthy if taken after say, 1 AM. Some martial arts practitioners here do take shower after evening/night training, at around 1-2 AM or later. I had a friend who literally couldn't walk, not paralyzed but pain in both his legs (thigh), was eventually healed, Praise Allah, could walk (and run) normally again after spending about a month or so taking cold water shower from a well (using bucket / dousing) every night (at around 3 AM).
Back to myself, Praise Allah, after 30 days of night cold water shower, I do feel better now. I can bend my knee again, with less pain.
Perhaps someone have an explanation about the "state" of water during the night, especially between 2 and 4 AM ?

In response to post about cold showers at 3am, I believe that it is at about this time that Spiritual/Etheral energies are at their strongest also in relation to water, reading about Dr. Masaru Emoto and his research into water crystals will give you a whole new respect and understanding of water.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda

I have suffered with abdominal pain in my sternum area for the past 2 years or more. Finally the pain got so bad, I went to see a gastroenterologist to diagnose my condition. I figured it was an ulcer, but my endoscopy procedure showed that I was suffering from a hiatal hernia as a result of acid reflux. I was prescribed Prevacid to be taken for several months. I traced my problem back to having taken a hefty amount of ibuprofen from past sports injuries and knee surgery. I play basketball for exercise twice a week and wake up every morning with painful, stiff knees. Had I been aware of the negative results of anti-inflamatory drugs years ago, I never would have taken them. Anyway, after reading about the negative side effects of taking chemical drugs for acid reflux, I started praying and searching the web for natural remedies. I came across Ted's Apple Cider Vinegar & Baking soda remedy and have been on it for 3days now. It works great and quickly to relieve the pain of my acid reflux and to my surprise, after my first day of taking the remedy, my stiff, sore knees have been relieved. I played basketball 2days ago and had very minimal soreness and stiffness in my knees the next morning. I was able to climb the stairs in my house with no problem for the the first time in months. During my doctor's visits over the last few months, it has been discovered that my blood pressure is at pre-hypertension levels (138/88). I read several testimonials that users of the ACV remedy have experienced lowered blood pressure and cholesterol levels. I am anxious to have my blood pressure checked again to see if I am experiencing the same results. Hey, the acid reflux is getting under control and my knees don't ache and aren't stiff anymore. 2 down, 1 to go (blood pressure). It amazes me that I was able to come across one solution for all three of my conditions. I believe God directed me to this site for a reason. I will report back about my blood pressure once I get my next reading. Great stuff!!

I've suffered from a bad knee most of my life. If it isn't bone on bone, it sure feels like it. While nothing really helps, when I do not drink plenty of water, the pain and swelling get real bad when I stand or walk for any duration. Have been taking ACV/bs for 2 weeks now and so far no relief. But it is working on my Blood Pressure so I'll keep taking that. I just need a new knee.

I see a wheelchair in my near future if I don't do something soon. I will try anything.

My son was having pain on the basketball court with his knees. I started him on vinegar and honey twice a day. Within a couple of weeks he had no more pain. This was two years ago. He won't stop taking it now. It also cleared up his phlegm problem.
MSM
Posted by Teak (USA) on 01/09/2024
I would guess that it is the MSM, and not the vitamin C. The reason being, is that people have taken very very high doses of C, with no side effects, except diarrhea (which is not dangerous). Vitamin C is also water soluble, so it does not build up in the body naturally. That is why people resort to IV or liposomal C, to try to get it to stay in the body longer.

Power Plate
Posted by Gracie (Nottingham UK) on 08/18/2019
Approximately two years ago I had a knee replacement, and I'm never without discomfort in that area, but can manage to walk three miles or so. Also I have stiffness in my legs and hips after sitting for any length of time, and need to heave myself up to a standing position. Going up and down stairs/steps is also difficult as I do have balance problems caused by two episodes of labyrinthitis a few years back, and have to hold onto rails/banisters. I've taken countless supplements to remedy these issues but speaking truly nothing has really helped.
But I never give up the search. I've recently been looking into purchasing a vibrating power plate in the hope that it would help with circulation, muscle strength in my legs, thighs, lower back, and improve my general fitness. Or would I be wasting my money? I have read on the web that one person experienced a feeling of sea-sickness when using one. So I'm interested to learn whether any Earth Clinic readers have had any experience using a power plate and would they recommend one. I'm 80 years of age (pretty ancient, but young in spirit), female, and apart from the above problems keep fairly well.
Power Plate
Posted by Anon (USA) on 08/22/2019
Hi Gracie,
At a recent visit to Costco they had a vibration machine. I had my 91 year old father with me and we tried it out. My father could not tolerate it for the trial session and asked the representative to end his session early. Before you invest in one of these you should try one out first. The Power Plate one may be at a local gym near you, or you could wait for your nearest Costco to have their brand visit (Zaaz).
It would be listed on their web site. I am wondering if a joint replacement may be considered a contraindication for using a vibration plate? I suggest you look into Bio Electro Magnetic Energy Regulation (Bemer). I bought one of these for my father 10 to 12 weeks ago. He was having a lot of discomfort in his knees and hips, also having trouble getting around, so I was hoping to keep him in his own home a little longer. He uses it several times each day and has improved greatly. He is no longer having any pain in his knees or hips! You may find somewhere local to you where you can try it out or possibly rent one. Look into “The Five Tibetans”. These are gentle exercises and one of them helps very much with balance. I once heard author Joan Vernikos interviewed. She wrote the book, Sitting Kills, Moving Heals. She made the suggestion to stand up for two minutes every half hour (or something like that) to improve strength. Lastly, in your supplement trials have you tried serrapeptase for pain relief? Also, I recently saw one at Vitamin Shoppe that looks pretty impressive that has serrapeptase, nattokinase, lipase, protease, amla, papain, bromelain, rutin, and coenzyme q10 all together in one formula. The idea is to take these away from food on an empty stomach so they can travel throughout your body and break down fibrin, etc. Age is a state of mind and you sound pretty young to me!

Gracie, why guess and worry? When you get the results you'll contemplate your next step (pun intended! ). Meanwhile you seem to be doing everything right. The only red light I see is the walking 5-6 miles. Might that have been excessive even if you didn't feel it was?

I was having immense pain on my left knee which I knew the cause of. I had a knee surgery on my right knee for the same reason & same pain a few years back which was due to osteochondritis dissecans.
Pain to the point where I'd cry and fall if I made the wrong movement. Even if I didn't move my leg I'd feel a pinched nerve ache. It was just BAD.
I had forgotten about blackstrap molasses and what my mother & grandmother would tell me about it. Though their recipe contained a glass of regular temp water, a tbsp of apple cider vinegar & a tbsp of blackstrap molasses. LITERALLY, the next day the pain was nearly there. 2-3 days later I was able to walk pretty normally. I'm sure I won't even need surgery anymore!
Y'all should look into Apple Cider vinegar as well as Blackstrap Molasses. These two put together are life savers.
