Vitamin D

A common factor for most of the boil sufferers is the time of year, late winter when Vit D reserves are at their lowest. Vit D is a necessary part of the immune system. The Vit D Council (Google it) gives free information on doses and some amazing facts on its effectiveness for many ailments. I have used Colorless Iodine for unbroken skin pimples or puncture wounds for years and never get infections, Betadine for scrapes and scratches.Castor oil for sun blemishes, age spots and sun cancers. I work outside, get plenty of those. Used to get boils before I found Colorless Iodine, its getting hard to find (not much profit?) but some chemists will make it up.
Watch Your Sugar Intake!

re: Turmeric works but not with a lot of Sugar consumption. Thanks to this site,' Turmeric has helped alleviate my boil problems in the past. However after a recurrence last month, I was reminded that sugar does inhibit the immune system. I ate some cotton candy (Straight spun sugar), and four boils popped up in the groin area two days later. I have already cut out pop/soda drinks which helps. Again I was reminded that plenty of water, fresh fruits, and veggies help keep the boils away. I know now that I am asking for problems when I consume too much sugar (also candy) and baked sweets. I hope that this helps others and I am very thankful for this site.

Watkins Salve

I have had boils appear months apart and very often at times. I use Watkins salve and they go away or come to a head in a day or so. Some times over night. Apply Watkins salve to the boil and also apply some to a band-aid and cover boil with band-aid. Works every time for me.

I have been applying Watkins salve, washing the area and doing the best to treat it but it's not healing at all. It hurts a lot! Sometimes pus will drain, but it's not healing. I am not diabetic. I am not ill otherwise. Well no, I have a kidney infection which I am taking cipro for. But this is starting to worry me. The thought of going to the E. R. over this just makes me feel silly.
White Vinegar and Baking Soda Poultice

I try everything natural. I do know that for those who have boils it takes a couple days and you must change the gauze in which you apply your paste to. I use white vinegar and baking soda, which does bubble up as you mix the two. It REALLY works and in between changing it apply a hot compress or hot bath helps it along faster. Baking soda and vinegar will draw out the infection. After you believe it's drained, a salt water bath will keep it from any further infection and a little tea tree oil on a gauze will speed up the healing of the broken skin too. White vinegar and baking soda, it works. Rachelknows
Zinc

Boil remedy: A powder that contains Zinc (Ammens) applied several times a day seems to work best for me.

So once your infections have a head, they drain on their own & heal? Every time I've had a mrsa boil I always have to squeeze it to get the stuff out & it just keeps on growing and making a huge hole in my skin. I always end up caving & going to the doctor. I'm afraid its going to spread & kill me. :(

No matter what I used to cause boil to burst and drain, whether hot salt bath or VVR to name a few, to get it to close nicely, I gently clean area and put a little hydrogen peroxide a folded to size soft paper towel and apply to area. I let it stay on a few hours or even over night. It always closes the open boil beautfully and quickly, no more than a couple of days and sometimes faster.
