[NAY] 03/14/2007: Kristina from Waukesha, Wisconsin writes: "I tried coconut oil on my face for winter dryness because I also have acne. It does moisturize but it also for me caused more breakouts and made me oilier. Honey works much better for me (I rinse it off after a few minutes) I do use coconut oil on my daughter's sensitive skin for general moisturizing and it is effective even for deep moisturizing."

[YEA] 01/18/2007: Amy from Boise, Idaho writes: "I have been using topical prescription acne meds for 2 years and have done pretty well. This winter I have had a terrible time with dry skin and acne. I have tried exfoliators and lots of moisturizer to relieve the dry skin flakes and have seen no improvement. Just more pimples and flakes. One morning I woke up with a large rash on my neck where I had used an exfoliator. That night I started using coconut oil on my face and neck. (not virgin, Spectrum brand refined) My neck looked much better the next day and I did not wake up with any new pimples which I was very surprised. It was scary putting something so oily on my face! My large pimples under my neck went away in 3 days. My flaky skin was gone in one day. My skin looks great, soon I will try the virgin coconut oil for my face and to include in my diet. This is the first time I have ever been able to say that something natural and possibly a fad REALLY worked for me."

[YEA] 04/25/2006: Brook from MO writes: "I have heard from my uncle, who recently started using coconut oil, all the benefits. He mentioned it can be used on the face and body as a moisturizer and acne treatment, sun screen, helps prevent wrinkles, removes sun spots and warts, and helps with weight loss when ingested. I had flat warts on my face, and have been using coconut oil on my face and ingesting it two to three times a day for about a month. The warts are gone, but my face, chest, and back have horribly broken out. I can't think of it being from anything but the coconut oil. I also have been eating three tablespoons a day for a month for weight loss, and have currently not lost any weight. I wanted some advice as to if I am doing something wrong, or if my body just doesn't react well to this remedy."

[YEA] 04/30/2007: Suzie from Brodheadsville, PA writes: "I had come down with some skin lesions and went to about a dermatologist for his help. He gave me a cream that I used faithfully, but it just didn't work. I grew concerned because I have a history of basal cell cancer and I didn't want these lesions to develop into that. About 6 weeks ago I was in Whole Foods and saw this jar of ________ Coconut Oil. It was the expeller pressed, unrefined kind. I purchased it with every intent to learn how to cook with it; however, I came across another web site where someone mentioned they were using it as a skin cream. So, what the heck, I tried it as a massage on both legs and arms. Oh I am just in a state of awe that my lesions are fading! I am so excited, so pleased that a $10 jar of coconut oil could make my skin healthier. I'm using it on my face too, wow those fine lines are fading too! I will continue to use this day and night on my skin, and will start tomorrow with taking it orally."

Ever since we started doing thtis, he has a lot less trouble with allergies, and he says that I no longer snore! Not that I ever was a real loud snorer, but whatever heavy breathing that blockage or congestion was causing, it is now gone! It only takes about 1/4 tsp. - just a tiny bit on your fingertip for each nostril."

SORE THROAT INFECTIONS, CHRONIC
[YEA] 01/04/2009: Susan from Glendale, CA, USA writes: "I've somehow managed to catch a horrible cold and have battled a sore throat for 2 days now. I have absolutely NO tolerance for pain, so I've been miserable. I've been using cayenne pepper and ACV as both a gargle and added to hot water to sip on constantly, but it only gives little to temporary relief.
I decided to try some coconut oil in some pineapple tea that I had (hoping deep down it resembled a pina colada!) I saw that EVCO wasn't listed as a remedy for cold or sore throats, really, but I decided to give it a shot.
Wow, was it soothing! The horrible thing about sore throats is how dry and scratchy the throat gets which makes the pain ten times worse... but the coconut oil lubed everything up so nicely that it doesn't hurt half as bad! I have no idea how long this will last, but I'll take what relief I can get!
I did have a lot of success with EVCO after having a strange sinus infection last year at this time that made all the glands in my head so swollen. After trying everything and going to the doctor who gave me no-good antibiotics, I gave EVCO a shot, and within one day my glands had gone down, my head and decongested and I felt better. I love this stuff. I just wish I liked the taste better!"
01/06/2009: Susan from Glendale, CA, USA replies: "Just to follow up on my own post...
It's now been 24 hours since I took the EVCO for the sore throat -- it cleared it up 100%. About a half an hour after taking it, it dislodged a very large, quite solid, disgusting piece of you-know-what from the back of my throat which I surprisingly blew out of my nose. I won't go into details, just trust me -- it was the source of the infection, the queen bee, if you will.
The thing to remember (which I had forgotten) was that if you're not used to taking ACVO, it will give you digestive issues -- I had severe nausea later since I had not taken EVCO in quite some time. But it didn't last that long, and was well worth it considering.
I have taken it about two more times since in tea, and it immediately makes my sinuses and ears crack and pop as things start draining out."

[YEA] 04/17/2008: Stephanie from Rancho Cucamonga, CA writes: "I started using Virgin Coconut Oil and I love it. I usually sunburn the first time I lay out in the sun, then peel, then I tan afterwards. I usually lay out without sunscreen or tanning lotion. So, I decided to put VCO on my body and layed out in the sun for four hours. I burnt a little, but nothing compared to usual. I also applied VCO twice a day after that and didn't peel at all, but it turned into a great tan. I will use VCO forever. P.S. I also started taking it internally 3X a day-yummy."
[YEA] 02/04/2010: Terri from Leavenworth, Wa replies: "Virgin Coconut Oil is great for sunburns (any kind of burn for that matter). If you mix Lavender and/or Eucalyptus essential oil in with VCO it will take the sting and heat out, helps prevent blistering and peeling. My friends and family laughed and thought I was crazy but now all come to get the "Burn Cream""

I had sensitive gums and nerves for several months after having two dental procedures - removal of an impacted and decayed wisdom tooth -lower left, and placement of a crown on a molar above. I was very sensitive to cold especially but hot as well. Oil pulling with coconut oil just three times cured it 95%. It was hard to believe after it was so sensitive it virtually went away. I rarely feel anything anymore except with extreme temperatures and I see even that declining as the days go by."

[QUESTION] 06/29/2009: Sangeetha from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands writes: "Is VCO good for any age? My mother is 70 years old and suffers from diabetes and bigh blood pressure. I know VCO is good for diabetes. Is it also god for high blood pressure? Is it ok for a 70 year old with these ailments to drink VCO?
Also, due to so many benefits includes its ability to fight virus and bacteria, I wanted to give it to my 6 1/2 year old daughter, maybe in smaller quantities of 1 tsp to begin with, gradually increasing to 2 tsp. a day. Is it alright for a child that age to drink VCO?
Thank you in advance for responses."
06/30/2009: Kyra from Cortlandt Manor, New York replies: "I give all of my children, ages 2 - 12 1 tablespoon of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil daily."

Three-Lac did offer some relief but could not completely get rid of the problem. One week of extra Virgin coconut oil from GNC, Emerald labs did the trick. I had several days of pure hell from upset stomach, loose bowels stomach pain and so on. This eventually subsided and the benefits have been nothing short of miraculous. I wish I had known of this product earlier, it would have saved me a ton of misery and saved me a boat load of cash."

[YEA] 05/29/2008: WT from Spartanburg, SC writes: "I've always been a fan of natural remedies since childhood. I discovered coconut oil years ago while looking for a vinegar and oil recipe. We've always used RBD (refined, bleached, deoderized) and now use the Luanna brand found in Wal-Mart. A couple years ago I had increasing stomach pain over a several week period. It started out like hunger pains and got progressively worse. It got to the point that it wouldn't go away even after eating. I figured it must be an ulcer.
I had read that coconut oil killed the ulcer causing bacteria. I got on the internet and researched the dosage and began taking a tablespoon in the morning and another at night.
After three days or so the pain was gone and I stopped taking it. A few weeks later the pain came back. I figured if you take antibiotics for 7-10 days I should probably do the same with the coconut oil. Again the pain left in three days or so but I kept taking it for a week. That's been probably three years or so. I also try and eat fried eggs once every weekend just for good health.
PS: an arterial ultrasound on my carotid arteries, taken last year after about 8 years consuming the stuff, showed no evidence of plaque buildup.
I've smoked up to 2 packs a day until quitting 2 years ago and have never taken cholesterol meds. I'm 45 and my dad was 90% blocked by age 61.nI also take 4+ Grams of cheap ascorbic acid vitamin C almost daily."

[YEA] 05/31/2008: WT from Spartanburg, SC writes: "Whether it's Bird flu or the regular flu. If any virus is classified a flu virus, coconut oil will kill it.
Any flu virus is contained inside a Lipid envelope. If this membrane is ruptured the virus dies. Apparently the fats in Coconut oil lyse this membrane on contact causing it's destruction.
I used to get colds just about every year and the flu maybe every 2-3 years. Upon switching to coconut oil for cooking, I've been cold and flu free for nine years now! I've even been around others with my business who were fighting the flu and didn't catch it!
We fry stuff in it once a week or so and I try to eat fried eggs weekly for good measure!
For kids in day care you won't believe the difference it makes! Those days of them coming home with a new bug every few days will be a thing of the past!"
