How to Heal Bloodroot Scars

In reply to Cary (Phoenix, Arizona) on 11/01/2007 on using saran wrap during bloodroot scar healing:

Dr. Ed Group of Global Healing Center, his dad was the co-inventor of Saran Wrap and he said it is poison. That stuff is all estrogen mimickers.

But on a positive note, I used the bloodroot in the past to get rid of facial cysts with minimal scarring.

But a couple years ago a 20 year old cold sore on my cheek started to erupt and the bloodroot took it out but left a spade shaped scar. It went after the virus but took a large area away and did not fill in as well as I had hoped. But once healed gentle massaging has minimized the scar and the pores are seeming more normal but still noticeable.

Now two years after that, a zit that did not seem normal from the start did not heal right away. I tried a bandaid with super nano-silver (one-sol) that did pull out more pus, but did not heal as the constant squeezing brought the clear liquid of a cold sore/herpes to the surface. So I tried the bloodroot again, but a very small dab. The bloodroot once again went after the virus and is about to fall out. I hope this hole heals/fills in much better this time as it is much smaller. Last time I kept the thing covered the entire time. This time I kept it uncovered after the first day and it is separating from the good tissue nicely. The previous one still had a root that did not want to release on its own.

I am not convinced that petroleum jelly (neo-sporin) is a good thing. It seems all oil based pharma is bad since petro-chemical medicines are based off of toxic sludge from the oil industry.

I would also like to know how you are doing. My husband is currently taking bloodroot capsules combined with other herbs. He had an open sore on his face that was from a cyst that the Dr shaved off. It didn't heal & the Dr biopsied it & it was cancer. They wanted to do more surgery with radiation & maybe chemo. He refused & started with the blood root capsules. The opening on his face is at least the size of a half dollar keeps bleeding, is now putruding from his face at least 1/2 inch & tonight a lot of gooey tissue came off & it is oozes blood constantly. We are not sure if this is normal. It has not formed a scab or dried up. He's been taking the capsules for a month.

I have used the original Cansema on facial cancer after the dermatologist cut it out as there was still some cancer left around the periphery.

I will be using it again on another spot as well. However, the original Cansema manufacturer has moved to Ecuador (as someone mentioned) due to FDA harassment.

I found other black salves locally which contained bloodroot and other necessary ingredients but they did not contain the zinc chloride. Without the zinc chloride it probably would not be as effective on anything but the most benign skin issues. I would like to know the formula/ratios so I can add my own zinc chloride- as necessary- to a mild formula I can buy over-the-counter.

You can still buy the black salve from the people in Equador. I just purchased some for my dog. They have been very helpful and will e-mail you immediately with any questions. In case anyone wants, the web-site it is

Dianne, the salve might have already pulled it out! Stop applying it for a few days or more until you find a doctor that knows.

For cancer on the skin I'd recommend applying the blood root directly on it. For deep sores, I needed to take 2 Dilantin pain killers to sleep for 2 days..

I treated several spots on my arm, wrist and scalp. A few I had to treat again.. but the pain is less each time.

If you are in Florida, they Florida Medical Marijuana now offers a lotion that dissolves cancer in 30 days a MD told me. I have used this an oral drops for all the spots I treated, and some lingering one.. I suspect there a different problems with some of the scalp sore than just cancer... Bacteria probably.

Did you ever try bread soda (also known as baking soda/sodium bicarbonate) as it seems to cure all sorts of external cancer. Put it on as many times as it falls off and you should notice a great change within a few weeks as it will start to dry up and keep getting smaller.

I'm not finding much online about bloodroot suppositories, specifically. Ted has recomendations about using bloodroot in general here:

Using a low dose of bloodroot seems to be key. And supplementing B vitamins in the diet.

You also might consider bitter apricot seeds, garlic, an alkaline diet, aloe vera gel, improving your immune system and doing a detox/parasite/heavy metal cleanse.

Good luck.

I am a wholistic practitioner and work with cancer patients all the time. Someone told me about blood root to cure cancer in the patient I am working with who has cancer in the pelvic bone and metastasized to the lungs and is progressing very fast. We are alkalizing the body and using various supplements. What I want to know is how safe is bloodroot and how does a person take it internally? Also will bloodroot dissolve nodes in the thyroid?

Another source is from Alpha Omega Labs which relocated to Guatemala after FDA ran them out of the country. I think if your search altcanc or altcancer you can find it.

I have used Black Salve for years on different parts of my body where some mysterious lesion has appeared. I dab it on directly on the lesion. It will irritate good skin so be accurate. It may take repeated applications over a few days or a week, but keep it dry, covered if necessary. Keep it away from eyes. Wash hands after using it. I have all sorts of problems trying to buy the stuff here, so will investigate mixing some up myself.

As many people here have noted, bloodroot is an effective solution to unsightly moles and with a felt improvement to one's appearance and quality of life. Dermatologists will charge hundreds of dollars to cut out moles, but with bloodroot, moles can be removed for the cost of only about ten dollars. The scalpel of the doctor will always leave visible line scars, but bloodroot, which is all-natural, will not always scar. I do have a few scars from using bloodroot, but with proper treatment these can be reduced in time. Whether a scar does result seems to be due to the size and location of the mole. Larger moles and the areas around them will turn white from the application of bloodroot. Then, after a few days, the mole will simply shrivel and pop out, leaving a crater which will eventually fill and become covered with skin. I have had scabs form over other smaller moles on my face, and in those cases, the moles came off when the scab peeled away. Red marks larger than the mole were left. These eventually faded with daily treatments of vitamin E oil, which is another miracle cure. I tried special scar reducing cream, and this did nothing. With only a few treatments with vitamin E oil, scarred areas lightened quickly, and within only a couple days, I saw new skin growth. Currently, I am treating scars on my chest from the removal of a few moles that were like fly specks. With time, I'm hopeful that these will heal over as well. Generally, bloodroot works best with larger moles, and it seems to do more damage with the smaller dots. My theory is that the mole tissue absorbs the bloodroot, but around smaller pigmented spots, bloodroot only damages the skin, thus causing worse scarring. On a small speck on my leg, the bloodroot, although applied directly, missed the spot completely, apparently because the mole, being small, did not have any mass of tissue to absorb it. I might suggest simply learning to live with the small mole specks which do not rise above the skin surface, but I do highly recommend it for taking out larger and more unsightly moles. Once the area is white or scabbed, treat it with aloe for healing. Then, when the mole and/or scab is gone, use vitamin E to prevent scarring.

Bloodroot, grown often as an ornamental in gardens has proven to be an amazing remedy for the removal of facial moles!!! I had on, dark brown mole on my chin that grew darker and larger over the years. I stumbled upon this remedy and decided to try it. Absolutely amazing! The pulverized root mixed with a little cayenne pepper and a drop of grapefuit seed extract was applied to the lightly scratched surface of the mole. This was covered with a bandaid and left overnight. In the morning I applied a hot compress for 1 minute. Then the bandaid was removed. A scab had formed over the surface of the mole. I applied an antibiotic ointment over this. It is important to let the scab fall of in it's own time! After three (!) days the scab fell off and my mole I had lived with for 15 years is COMPLETELY gone!!!

I am posting this because I hope it will help someone.

Thursday 11/6/03
Age 38, I am fair-skinned with history of blistering sunburns during childhood. A barber discovered that I had a large mole while trimming the back of my neck while I was out of town working on my mom's estate. I was extremely busy that year and was not checking my skin monthly. The covering was reddish brown oval shape 5/8" wide with a rough surface like a mole or scab, but with no recent injury. It grew to that size within less than 5-7 weeks since I had last looked at the back of my neck. It was not painful, but I noticed my shirt tag rubbing against the rough spot for the first time the day before it was discovered. Of course I was in a mental panic driving back from the barber shop. As soon as I walked in the door, I called immediately for an appointment with my dermatologist but the receptionist said there was a 5-week wait. I was very concerned and they moved it up to 15 days. After I hung up the phone, I remembered bloodroot is supposed to remove moles and that there was a patch at the edge of the yard just outside the kitchen. I also knew a lady who had used black salve to remove skin cancer from her forehead. Even though the bloodroot was dormant I dug in the dirt, found it on the first try, broke off a root piece the size of a finger joint, washed it and kept it refrigerated in a little glass pill jar. I sliced off a 1mm thick piece of bloodroot, rubbed the juice on the mole and let it soak in. I applied the bloodroot slice to the mole basically the same way my dermatologist had shown me how to use salicylic acid pads for plantar warts, but I never scraped it. The bloodroot juice made it sting slightly and I could feel that something was happening. I put a drop of water on the root slice to make sure it was moist and rubbed it on the mole again. All it took was a 1mm thick slice and the diameter fit perfectly on the mole. I taped it down tight on the mole with a bandaid, and sealed it with medical tape.

Within 20 minutes of making the doctor appt my first bloodroot treatment was already applied. At that point I was not worried because I was doing something positive about it plus I had a doctor appt scheduled just in case the bloodroot didn't work. I massaged it through the bandage frequently to squeeze more juice into the mole and stimulate healing. The reddish brown cover came off the next morning. I changed the bandage each morning, and repeated the process. The light colored yellowish gray pus sloughed off on the bandages a little bit each day and rinsed off while showering. The skin was also healing as the mole was clearing out, it shrunk down to almost nothing in 5 days and completely healed within a week. The scar is a 5/8" wide crater but It is totally unnoticeable.

Friday 11/21/03 3:30PM
I brought the bandages and tissue which I had kept frozen in a jar to the appt. My dermatologist remarked that the scar was pretty big. I had prepared these questions for my dermatologist:
Will you biopsy the tissue that I had frozen so that I will know whether I had cancer?
Can you take a biopsy sample from the dried mole covering still attached to a bandage?
Have you had other patients who used bloodroot?
What do you think of the bloodroot-based escharotic black salve ointments that are on the market?
Can you find out from a biopsy if this was associated with a specific cancer, virus, mold, or bacteria?
My dermatologist refused the biopsy request and didn't really explain why. I wanted to know if I had had cancer and felt like he brushed me off.

Of course, I dug up some bloodroot while the house was vacant and have a nice patch growing in my yard now. I kept the piece of bloodroot that I used in 2003 frozen in a jar and found that it maintains potency while frozen. It can be reconstituted with water and sliced for continued use for several years - which is good since the plant is rare and grows very slowly. I used it again twice in 2006 & 2009 , but these were pinhead-size moles that I discovered during routine skin self-examinations, and bloodroot removed each of them in one day.

Meanwhile, in 2009 one of my best friends died of melanoma at age 44. He had an abundance of moles, but the melanoma was already at Stage 4 when discovered and he told me before he died that he did not know where it originated.

In 2012, 9 years after the discovery of my fast-growing mole, I viewed "Skin Lesions And Cancer" slideshow. I think what I had most closely resembled Bowen's Disease which is a type of squamous cell carcinoma that rapidly spreads outward. If that is the case then I probably had a a pre-cancerous actinic keratosis in that location that I was unaware of prior to the rapid growth of the mole. Now at age 47 I discovered that I suddenly have about a dozen actinic keratosis spots on top of my head, so I am trying apple cider vinegar for 3 days so far with no result. I might try bloodroot powder from an herb shop mixed with aloe lotion if ACV doesn't work, but I've tried bloodroot before and it doesn't seem to work with AK either. I can always visit a dermatologist to freeze them off if needed.

Beware of "Two Feathers".

It's a scam, I have experience with them. Very expensive, "secret" recipe, no guarantee and they tell you to take it internally which is to my experience a contraindication. It made me feel sick and did nothing, the sale was at a coffee shop with a nervous older man. Another strage thing is the secret 100 year old Indian recipe could not have contained bloodroot (the active agent in most black salves) because that plant doesn't grow anywhere near this western Indian tribe only in the eastern US.

Also, there are great companies like- alt in Canada and many others offering clear ingredients and reasonable prices.

I have used it for years with Great results on basal cell. I also get checked after at a Dermatologist.

Good luck in your black salve search.

I took Two Feathers formula for 3 weeks and eradicated a tumor in my upper abdomen. I was supposed to take it for 6 weeks total but honestly it is not an easy therapy because of the extreme nausea and headaches it gave me. I am happy I took it regardless because of the obvious results. I would advise anyone who decides to take this therapy to limit their time on computers and cell phones because for whatever reason it makes the nausea so much worse. Good luck!

Good to know! I'm going tomorrow to a VA dermatologist. I have some weird things that one Dr said is AK. Oddly, they are on my torso, and I rarely go out in the sun. If I'm out for more than the time it takes to walk to the car, I use 80 SPF and a parasol!

After that appt, I'm going to try some bloodroot salve w/o zinc that I got from Kerstin's website on some weird moles on my face, and will try it on the weird AK thingies. Also on the one on hubby's face, from driving in SoCal - if he'll let me...

Is cancema and blood root the same thing? I put some cancema on a tiny mole I had on my shoulder - a tiny bit three days in a row. The area around the mole went quite red about 1cm immediately around the mole it was raised up a bit and creamish colour. I covered it with a bandaid each day as it took weeks to heal, but when the scab finally came off the mole had gone. It has slowly healed and now I'm putting a little lavender essential oil on it each day and the scar is disappearing quite noticeably. I am a real fan of this website....thank you. Maily

I have been reading all of the comments on the stages of the cancer being removed. Bloodroot sounds quite a bit like a medicine my dermotologist gave me called Efudex. He said it was radiation treatment. My BCC went through the exact same stages as what Bloodroot users are describing, except, I don't recall the initial pain.

I have a salve that has helped people with boils and outbreaks caused by MRSA. It certainly is no cure for MRSA or boils, but it does help topically to remove them quite rapidly. It draws out the infection and pus and promotes faster healing. It is all natural. Please see my website at and read the testimonials page for more information and before and after pictures.

Discoid Lupus: Warning, Pigment Removed
Posted by Evie (Ga) on 11/19/2013

Oh my goodness I cannot believe I have stumbled across this after so many years. Yes it did remove the lesion but here is what I have learned since then. I also developed lesions on my face one on my left cheek and one from an old injury so every drop of sun exposure inflammed them. I didn't want to use blood root on my face so I had lived with them for years until now. I don't believe I have Discoid Lupus anymore as I am symptom free. I inadvertantly cured myself I guess. Two years ago I decided to get healthy. I completly changed the way I eat and I gave up all my vices (except coffee). First I went on a full body cleanse for a month. Then I juiced Beets and every good veggie I could find roots done separetly from fruits and about thee months later I began to notice some clear changes in my lesions. Having been so careful about sun exposure it seemed that I could tolerate some sun so I stopped using sun screen all together. I am an avid outdoors person so this is significant in itself. Then before I knew it aside from feeling healthy again I noticed that the lesions were gone, and I mean gone as in I can now with some care be out doors without the horrible lesions. I have gone on to begin my own small apothacary. I grow certain plants for their medincinal values and make my own tinctures and salves. I hope that you get this soon. I believe that you and I should talk real time. I have become somewhat of a healer, it just came through researching my own illnesses and learning about naturapathic treatments and then helping those around me. So there you have it. Hope to hear from you soon. I have so many questions and suggestions for you. First thing I would ask you to do is do not give Discoid any power by worrying so much about it. Just get active in doing an over all cleanse I can give you the cleanse name I used if you wish. Believe in your own ability to heal yourself and begin each day with that intent.

Black Salve / Cancema / Blood root paste......

I made my own salve and have used it successfully for many years, removing dozens of BCC's from my face, arms, and upper body. You do have to be careful with it on big skin lesions and it is best if you treat them in sections. However, I found that some of the lesions were very stubborn and required re-application of the salve every month or so , until I started taking Cayenne Pepper, 1 X 00 capsule before food every day. The effect was another minor miracle. I would say that the addition of CP has reduced the prevalence and severity of the skin cancer so far by at least 90%. As CP is said to be an absolute cure all for gut and circulatory problems I guess there is a direct link between the health of your gut and your outer covering......Could this be a reason why skin cancer is on the increase ? Maybe our digestive system is becoming weaker due to the food we intake and this in turn becomes visible with severe skin problems such as skin cancer.

Court documents indicate that from 1999 to 2003, doing business as Alpha Omega Labs, Caton and his employees sold Cancema Tonic III (a purported cancer cure) and H3O (claimed to be effective against athlete's foot, cuts and burns, eczema, fingernail fungus, chronic gas, gastroenteritis, gingivitis and periodontal disease, halitosis, herpes sores, ophthalmia, psoriasis, sore throat, strep throat, and wounds).

We learned about blood root, also call Black Salve, through my sister-in-law several years ago. I can't even begin to tell you how pleased my husband is with the results. He's very fair skinned and has always worked outside; now in his late 50's skin cancers were becoming an ongoing, painful, and expensive problem. He had several skin cancers removed by his doctor and all of them left large, painful scars. The black salve removes the cancer completely and, even though it leaves a large hole initially, in our experience this fills in very quickly and leaves almost no visible scar. He has used this on moles everywhere, face, arms, back, neck and the results have always been the same -- the cancer is completely removed. What I find the most amazing about the salve is that if the area is not cancerous then there will be no reaction to the salve. It's hard to find the real stuff, but worth the search!

I went to see John of God and found many people leaving the area as myself very disillusioned. He rules every aspect of life in that town. Stupid things like only flat sheets on the beds in the hotels, no air conditioning, no tv. In his church area it's worse, no talking most places, buy tons of his water, buy all his passion fruit powders at $1.00 a pill, buy 6 months supplies. It's a money scheming hypnotically controlled cult. He was once a doctor who got kicked out, cause he wouldn't follow rules. Dr. Arrigo was the original healer with the rusty kitchen knife but he was, mysteriously murdered! And this phony took his place...

I healed 2 skin tags with bloodroot paste. Around Thanksgiving of '05, I noticed a small skin tag on my cheek, and it began to grow in size. I also discovered another one growing in my scalp near my temple. By Christmas, they both had grown and discolored, one the size of a pea and another the size and height of a dime. Not having medical insurance or much $, I decided to try a bloodroot remedy I read about in a book. After searching online, I purchased a small container of Bla-Cansema Black Salve on Ebay. I applied a thin coat on the pea-sized skin tag following the directions. They did say that I should feel a slight stinging/burning sensation. I became a bit skeptical when I felt nothing from the treatment; but decided to leave the dried coating on the skin tag for few days.

I went about my life forgetting about the bloodroot paste on my cheek until a scab that had formed over the skin tag began to peel off. So I removed it; to my great surprise the most of it was gone! After a second application, the whole skin tag disappeared leaving just a slight discoloration. I next applied an application to the skin tag under my scalp. This one was even easier; it disappeared with one treatment. It has now been over a month, and there is no sign of these skin tags on my face and scalp. This paste cost me little over $40; simple applications with no associated discomfort, side effects or pain. I see why doctors and pharmaceutical companies are worried.

I bought Generations Black Salve from a store in California before the FDA banned it because they are no more than tools of the pharmaceutical industry. I have keloid skin and scar from everything. Tested this on the tender inner arm skin where all looked good. No reaction, which is how it should be. Put it on a mole that looked wrong and WOW! It reacted. The mole died, went black. Then the area became inflamed and pussy like it should. My body pushed out the mole and some stringy things. I healed better than from surgery even though I still scarred. The stuff works and is great. Does not react to normal skin if you get it from a reputable place that only uses the bloodroot, gangalal, red clover, and sheep sorrel in it. Generations is gone now, but Best on Earth and another place still have it.

Suffering various toxicity, infection, and inflammatory conditions somewhat like yours, the three remedies I use with best effect are Heat Pad, Strong Magnet, and Zapping ---in that order.

I also sometimes use a handheld, battery operated vibrator, but any kind of Massage would work to get the blood & fluids flowing.

Dr Christopher's herbal "Red Clover Combination" is good for cleansing and is best used in combination with Detox Foot Pads or Spas.

I have a lymph gland under my left armpit that has been involved for several months and have mostly neglected it then the itching, soreness, and pain return. I slept with a 4x4 Magnet Pad directly on the area and experienced that "hurts-so-good" feeling as the toxicity is being removed. Will continue these treatment options until no sign of sick lymph.

Hope this helps you.

As for adding Zinc for topical administration, you might do well by adding a pinch to a small container of Cod Liver Oil as these two work together.

An old time skin remedy I like very much and which contains Zinc is "Porters Salve".

Hi Gwen from Orlando. What kind if Dr used the salve on you. TCM Dr? I'm not sure what that stands for. My husband currently is self treating with a capsule that has bloodroot in it & we have tried to find a Dr that know something about this. His tumor on his face is now hugh & bleeding. It is the cancer coming out but as of yet has not formed an escar. I'm concerned that if this comes out completely it will start bleeding profusely. Would it be possible to get the name of your Dr? We are in the Tampa Bay Area & could come to Orlando to see the Dr.

I found a long time ago not to take zinc on an empty stomach as it causes nausea. This is probably the cause.

I'm allergic to petroleum, could I use another cream or lotion? Whatever will keep the bandaid moist, right?

I used Neosporin, it worked great. I've also read about people breaking open vitamin E capsules and using that.

I found this site 6 yrs. after you have written about it but I hope you will still reply.

Could you please give me detaled instructions on how your grandmother has applied black salve to moles, skin tags etc. I would appreciate step by step instructions on how to successfully remove above mentioned without scaring.

My body is producing large nb. of skin tags and moles and since I had an operation on my pancreas to cure me of Insulinoma( benign tumor), I'm wondering is this increased production result of my body expelling "nasties" from within.

I'm hoping that by applying black salve I will aid my body to get rid of disease.

Please help, Marina
