Coconut Oil

I put a pea size of coconut oil in each ear ( daily or as needed) and it has DRAMATICALLY REDUCED the ringing in my ears that has been non stop for many years. PEACE

I read you can use a Q tip with a bit of hydrogen peroxide prior to putting the coconut oil in there, if that helps you....

Tinnitus: Just over 1 month ago I started taking 1tsp of ACV in 8oz of filtered water 3x a day, after learning about it being a possible cure on here. I wasn't sure that it would work but thought I would give it a shot being as it is inexpensive and all natural ... I now have ZERO ringing or static sounds in my ear!!! This is just Amazing!!!

Yes , I have had this for a L.... O.... N.... G TIME but recently put coconut oil on a q tip and it seemed a bit better.... I read to use some hydrogen peroxide first and then coconut oil. Mine is almost gone and when I hear it at all, I put a half pea size coconut oil in each ear, at bedtime, it melts in there and stops the buzzing. I put it in there one night and wait a couple days and put more in there. Whole lotta better YAY!

Iron

I too have suffered with tinnitus since developing Ulcerative Colitis (IBD) over 12yrs ago. I suddenly realised a few yrs back that when my anaemia is worse, so is the tinnitus & vice-versa.

I do have a white-noise maker but its quite uncomfortable to wear for 8hrs p/day (I have small ears lol).

I can't tolerate a lot of iron (had large bowel removed) so I take it in a multi-vit AM & take a 14mg ferrous sulphate or 2 straight after my evening meal. This keeps it quieter.

What I found helped me with Tinnitus was Swedish Bitters. I soaked a bit of cotton wool and put it in my ear and kept it there overnight - I found this advice in Health Through God's Pharmacy written by Maria Treben. Good luck.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

I tried the massage and it did pop my left ear and the noise stopped. I didn' think that it was going to work on my right ear, but I massaged from my ear to my chin where I remembered my lymph nodes swelling when I was sick. It stopped the ringing, but I didn't hear the pop. My hearing was better in my left ear, but it was never as bad as my right ear which I sleep on at night. I can't believe it. I will keep doing this. I already had garlic oil on my ears and was reading the website. I have been cleaning my ears with hydrogen peroxide inserted with a needleless syringe for at least a year and my hearing has vastly improved. I clean with hydrogen peroxide about once a week. I was really impressed with the massage. My left ear feels cleared but not my right ear. The ringing stopped in both ears, but my ringing wasn't very bad or all that bothersome. It was however amazing and the ringing is gone. I will definately keep doing this. I am going to start massage on all my lymph nodes sites on my body.

With my TMJ, I had sporadic and constant forms of tinnitus for DECADES. After I had 3 molars pulled, the noises were pretty much gone. I knew the the nerves of my jaw were tangled up in the roots of my teeth. Simple change of jaw position was enough to make the transient noises stop.

But now... It's back! I KNOW it is a side effect of medication. It's two separate tones in each ear, so I can really hear it, and it's bad in quiet times.

I'm going to try my white noise machine and see if that helps at night, and I know I need to be more regular with the ACV as a whole, that stuff is like MAGIC! ALA, I dunno, I'll check to see if I CAN take it...

Anyway, folks, also consider your teeth and jaw in the tinnitus equation. I know having teeth pulled is an extreme solution, but if you are facing that anyway, at least there could be more good than bad asociated with the tooth loss!

Vitamin C

Hi Somewhere! I have just now heard of Ted's mixture, adding baking soda to Vit. C, and ought to buy his book soon, just to see what's in there! Perhaps sodium ascorbate is a better form of Vit C.... I don't know. Ted?

To answer your question: I am taking a staggered mix of lypospheric Vit C -without food- about two packs of 1,000mg each, three times a day. I try to fit in three Emergen-C packs, 1,000mg each, with ascorbic acid powder, 1 teaspoon mixed into each drink -with food. Total: Between 10-12 grams.

I plan to only take this amount for about two-three weeks, then drop down to slightly lower amounts for maintainence and slow-but-steady improvement. My plan of action is based on much reading of doctor's research first, so is fairly sound, and I tolerate it really well, and feel wonderful.

Next, I am adding Ted's idea, of Borax and sea salt, 1/8th of a tspn of each in a liter of water, sipped throughout the day. I plan on feeling even better! --T.

Way, what is your "very high amounts" of ascorbic acid and do you take it with baking soda to make sodium ascorbate as Ted recommends?

I love warm foods now that it's fall! My LOUD ear-ringing of several years has quieted to a barely audible hum since starting my ascorbic acid at very high amounts, a mere 5 days ago. I had also had trouble with my mind racing, thoughts coming jumbled and fast, even when asleep! That, too, is gone. I am so happy about these improvements, and I had all but given up hope that either would ever resolve. --T

Dietary Changes

Hi, My mom has suffered from ear tinnitus for over 20 years. Me being a long-time yoga practicioner and instructor, I adviced her to change her food choices, as tinnitus in combination with vertigo (her case) are often a result of something called unbalanced vata dosha - one of three main governing principles in ayurveda.

I'm not sure how you all feel about alternative approach, but where conventional therapy can't help, this is your only chance - and it worked for her!

She started eating as I suggested and in one month the ringing noise was gone:

- eat warm food, moderately heavy textures, added butter and fat; preferrably salt, sour, and sweet tastes

- use foods such as: warm milk, cream, butter, warm soups, stews, hot cereals, fresh baked bread.

- vata is a cold dry dosha, therefore warm, nourishing foods such as these are good for stabilizing it

- have a good nourishing breakfast is very important (hot cereals, cream of rice or wheat, warm oatmeal etc.)

- spices: cinnamon, cardamom, cumin, ginger, cloves in moderation.

- avoid: cold meal (cold salads, iced water, raw vegetable, greens), caffeine products, bitter tastes, sweets.

If taken a holistic approach - trying some effective treatment methods as suggested above together with change of food choices, I am sure it's possible for anyone to start enjoying a true silence soon (unless the condition is associated with permanent damage of inner ear..).

Just to validate your experience with, shall we say, 'tones', I also hear polyphonic ear ringing sound. It is constant, yet changes, and is as you describe so accurately.

My mind also feels very flighty, fast, speedy when trying to sleep. Perhaps we are undergoing some kind of change at this time. Perhaps it is harp. Perhaps, perhaps. One fellow believes he got ray-gunned. I believe just about anything is possible nowadays. Mine first came when I was outside reading, and I suddenly felt like I was being blasted with something high-pressured. It has never left, three years now.

I get brief relief by stopping my ears with my fingers and applying medium pressure for a moment.

Stranger still, there is mention of 'noise' and a 'noisome noise' in Scripture, which can be aided as described just above, with fingers in ears. How odd is that? --T.

Pulsatile Tinnitus
Posted by Mae (Edmonton, Ab, Canada) on 09/14/2012

Tinnitus is annoying and one can seldom find why it happens or why it quit.

Of more concern is the anxiety and panic. I have no idea what is causing any of your symptoms and am not any kind of expert. I had a friend who was sure he was losing his mind as over a few weeks he was getting more frightened and worried and exhausted. He took 1000 mcg of vitamin B12 - the kind you put under your tongue because that's the only way the body can absorb it - and felt a dramatic difference within an hour! His anxiety left immediately, it took a few weeks to get all of his energy back. (As a side note, he is 70, has hearing loss in one ear and has had intermittant tinnitus for a very long time.)

This may not be what you need, but it's cheap, easy and won't hurt you.

Good luck!

Hello Ben Goh, By TCM, it sounds like you have symptoms of blood and qi (force) deficiencies. Either you are losing blood somewhere or your body does not get enough nourishment for blood.

Check your tongue in the mirror for futher confirmation. Do you see signs of blood deficiency? Any cracks in the middle?

I think you may need a blood transfusion or should eat food that nourishes your blood and qi.

Ted from bangkok, do you second my diagnosis?

Hello Ben Goh - I can report that I first noticed pulsatile tinnitus around the same time I discovered I had Graves' Disease (hyperthyroidism).... Has your thyroid function been tested? I experienced heart flutters, overall jittery feeling (I thought I consumed too much caffeine), also a loud whooshing in my ears. Not sure if there IS a cure for tinnitus, I'm sorry to say. Note: hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism can exhibit some of the same symptoms. Best Wishes in gaining some relief~

Pulsatile Tinnitus

For about 1 year, I hear my heart beat in my left ear. I think they call it pulsatile tinnitus. It was so annoying that at one time I was even hospitalised because of very high blood pressure 235/110.

I'm extremely panicky, sense heart beat on my chest, very fatigue even just talking a few words, constantly evaluating/thinking/worrying in my mind, weak hands and legs, high-pitched tinnitus in my left ear, fear of loud sounds, almost paranoid-like.

What is it?
How do I cure it?
Is it electrolyte imbalance?
Is it skeletal out of balance?
Is it lack of exercise?

Help, save me!!

Olive Oil
Posted by Leonardj (USA) on 09/03/2012

Hi, I think a great place to start for many people that have tinnitus is simply using drops of olive oil to remove excess ear wax from the ears. I belive most people who have tinnitus have the category known as Subjective Tinnitus, which is where only you yourself can hear the sounds. One of the main causes of Subjective Tinnitus can be a build up of Ear Wax. Hope this helps. Leonard

Thank you Josh from Philly. I think my tinnitus is a response to the growling sound of my cell phone vibration alarm or, a combination of small gentle ringing and that repeated vibration.

One morning I woke up and realized my cell phone had been making this repetative vibration sound while at the same time, I was sleeping/dreaming, I dreamt I was also hearing the cell phone vibration alarm and then woke. Ever since, about a week ago, I have this pulsing/drowing sound in my left year. I immediatly removed the phone from my bed and placed it across the room. The day before I removed it from my bedroom. Perhaps, there is a connection to cell phone and towers, computer waves etc and ringing in ones ears.

Tonight I placed a few very small pieces of garlic in a cotten ball and put it in my ear. It worked for an infection two years ago so maybe it might work for my recent tinnitus. I will try the ALA and the ACV deluted in water:)

Thank everyone who made time to share their experience and ideas. I hope we all find a cure.

Essiac Tea

Essiac Tea for Tinnitus

Two years ago I developed what first appeared to be a wart on my nose. It grew bigger and uglier over then next month. A dermatologist diagnosed it as first stage cancer. She wanted to cut a piece of my nose off. I decided to look into other possibilities.

I took essiac and after several weeks (just as I was beginning to think it didn't work) the "wart" started to appear dry and crusty. Two days later it simply fell off, no scar, no reoccurrence... Nothing. I also found that the brain tumor surgery-related tinnitus (ringing in the ear) that I'd had for over a dozen years had also disappeared. That seemed to back up many of the anecdotal reports I'd read and heard. So I started my mother on it.

Her doctor had told her that her age-related tinnitus was untreatable and that she'd soon go deaf. Several days after drinking essiac tea she called to let me know her tinnitus had completely disappeared, it hasn't returned since (a year later).

I'm NOT selling this stuff, and I don't think anything is a magic bullet for everyone, but just about any protocol for cancer I've read that embraces "alternative" solutions usually includes essiac tea (unless it's contraindicated with specific treatments like Cantron/Cancell).

There's an excellent book on essiac called The Essiac Report by Richard Thomas (published by the Alternative Treatment Network, Los Angeles, CA (1993). It backs up what I'd read in other sources that JFK's physician had publicly announced that essiac cured his colon cancer in the early 60s

Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Posted by Exploringayurveda (Glen Allen, Virginia) on 07/20/2012

Thank you sooooo much for posting this. I recently started suffering from Tinnitus and tried lottsa holistic methods and medicine. But none worked like lymphatic drainage did. The noise is not completely gone but I did see a huge improvement within first few minutes. I continued doing it for an extra hour and experienced some more relief. I identified more points where lymph node resides and am planning to continue massaging every day.

This is in conjuction to taking following suppliments-

  1. Aswagandha
  2. Zinc
  3. Magnesiusm
  4. Multivitamin
  5. fenugreek
  6. Resveratol
  7. Sub lingual B12
  8. taurine
  9. turmeric (ocassionally)
  10. seratonin (sometimes at night)
I am planning to start taking gingko.. hope it helps.

Acoustic neuromoculation was exceptionally helpful for short term relief. I found a track on telegraph.Uk website and kept listening to it for hours. IT HELPS, but once you take your headphones off, the dreaded noise creeps in. Atleast it alleviate the pain a little and provides relief even for a short while.

Research is going on in germany for acoustic coordination reset and I can wait for them to come out with results.

Meanwhile I have an appointment next week for Sound Cure, not sure if this is a long term cure but even if it provides short term relief its a blessing.

btw, did anyone had luck with sesame oil? I bought organic one from banyan botanicals and had 5-6 drops in my ear erery day but it seems to increase the noise.

Not sure if I should try garlic oil..

Any thoughts?

EMF Trigger

I developed Tinnitus shortly after a Cell phone tower was erected across the street from where I live. I am sure this is the cause. I now have the ringing in my ears 24 x 7. The day I developed it, I spent walking around the cell tower with an EMF meter to measure the radiation in different areas. That night I heard the ringing for the first time and it has been non-stop ever since (over 1 year later). The only relief I have found is when I am away from civilization where there is no wi-fi, cell phones, cell towers, etc, it almost goes away entirely. Unfortunately, when I come back to civilization, it returns. I have also found that sleeping under a Faraday canopy which blocks all RF/Microwave radiation helps considerably and when I wake up in the morning, it is barely there.

I take ALA for my numbness due to my diabetes. I take 300 mg a day. Unfortunately, it is sporadic as I sometimes blow off my supplements on the weekend. It hasn't touched my tinnitus yet - but it just started a month ago and I have not been consistent in my supplement intake.

However, the 1st ENT I went to said it was a nerve issue, and ALA is support for nerves. So, I'm going to double my dose and see what happens.
