Ear Rinse for Sudden Onset Ringing in the ear
I have been using this site for as long as it has been up and I didn't see anything like this in the stuff under tinnitus and thought I would share.
Sometimes it's hard to determine the source of tinnitus in an ear. If you hear it in one ear, there could be an infection or debris. I went to a doctor and was told I had an ear infection. After using prescribed antifungal and eardrops, the issue returned, accompanied by a migraine. An NP suggested rinsing the ear, so I bought Neti Rinse, designed to clear earwax and debris.
**Steps:**
1. Pour hydrogen peroxide into the affected ear and let it sit for 5 minutes.
2. Use a bulb syringe filled with warm water to rinse the ear.
I found a tiny piece of debris that may have been causing my pain. I'm glad I solved it!

Maureen, my tinnitus went away when I started taking magnesium. There is a lot on the internet in regards to supplementation. Magnesium works. People take it for constipation, leg cramps etc. if your bowels get too loose back off a bit. It is a supplement I take daily.

Thank you for sharing Dr. Berg's video! I've done it twice in the last couple of hours and I honestly think I can “hear” a slight difference. I've had tinnitus in my left ear for 30 years. I will continue to do this! ❤️ I will also try the underarm lymphatic drainage.
Topical Vinegar, Baking Soda and Borax Solution

The doctor who several years past removed a lot of wax from both my ears told me it is often produced due to fungal infection, which often causes itchy ears. I had experienced this, so he told me to spray a mist of 1/2,5% ACV + 1/2,?% Rubbing Alcohol in the ear.... The ACV kills fungus and the alcohol helps to dry the ear out again.... I've used it a few times, & it does seem to work.
Borax is also anti-fungal, while baking soda is used to treat itchy conditions, according to the articles about each respectively on this website.

The doctor that once cleaned a LOT of wax out of my ears explained that wax overproduction can be triggered by a fungal infection in the ears, and told me that at the first hint of itching within my ears to spray a 50/50 mix of ACV & Alcohol in my ears ... the ACV kills fungus, while the Alcohol helps dry the ACV up so helps keep the ears dry.

Thanks for this, Kelly, I know years ago I over-did the aspirin and got ringing in my ears but it went away. Came back with a vengeance in about 2012. It started as a swishing whenever I got up in the night. About a year or less after that, the ringing became 24/7 basically, no breaks at all from it.
I don't do ACV except when I have a tummy-ache, bloated etc. It's horrible on tooth enamel too as I experienced recently because I was doing too much without rinsing/brushing immediately after drinking it diluted in water.

After suffering with tinnitus for about 7 years now, it did improve after I was on my ketogenic diet (basically dropped sugars, high simple carbs) drink more water, intermittent fasting, gym weight-training, and walking. It got better, but not gone, and flares up some days so bad I have to use my little Chrome Doze white-noise app on my Android phone. I've heard it can be from hearing loss which I have slight hearing loss in one ear.
I want to post this so I can evaluate ALA now and here in 2023. I've just today ordered 300mg capsules, look like Vit E caps of Puritans' Pride 120 and I'll take one a day to start. I will be back to report because I long for my tinnitus to stop so I can hear the sounds of silence once again. Normal sounds when I take a walk, hear the birds etc. My tinnitus is 24/7 although I shouldn't say that as I don't know what it is like when I'm asleep. I know I can't fall asleep most of the time w/o sound app. Mine sounds like a high pitched piano key and no breaks, steady. My heart goes out to all that have this health issue. Like I said, I'm going to (finally) try the ALA, Denise E.

I have been having an issue with ringing in my ears and in doing some research regarding noise I read about things like loud music and even motorcycles esp Harley Davidson. Apparently some riders even get dizzy from the noise. Anyway I got to thinking about what noise around me that may be the cause. I think I have found it. My previous home had a central vacuum system and when I moved I had to buy a vacuum cleaner. Because I have pets and lots of fur flying I bought a Hoover Wind Tunnel. It does pick up the hair and dust and a good vacuum for the money but the NOISE could wake the dead. The dog and cat run from it. I've looked online for consumer reviews and I only found one other person that complained about the noise. When I use it now I put cotton in each ear to suppress the noise and the ringing in the ears is tapering off. I know this sounds crazy but I wanted to share my thoughts

Posted by Kelly (Seattle) on 11/03/2022
A CAUTION REGARDING APPLE CIDER VINEGAR: One of the leading causes of tinnitus are salicylate -- the chemical compound found in aspirin (which was originally made from willow bark) and is also found in the skins and seeds of fruits and vegetables. It's also found in high amounts in VINEGAR. A google search will turn up more information.
So while vinegar may help some with tinnitus -- it also could be CAUSING your tinnitus, or if you try it and it gets worse, it could be because of the salicylate content.

In my life, tinnitus is the price I pay for exposing myself to excessive noise. Examples: If I work out and if I'm not using any hearing protection, then I always experience tinnitus for 3 days. If I watch random videos on the Internet, I always experience tinnitus for 3 days.
If you have tinnitus, then it's up to your body to heal itself. If you're healthy enough, your body will heal your tinnitus. However, if tinnitus has been an issue for you for several weeks, then you're doing something wrong.
Only you can prevent further damage to your hearing. If your gym believes their 90 dB rock music is an essential part of their service, then you will need hearing protection in there. How do you prevent tinnitus? 1) Avoid noisy places like gyms, TGIF restaurants, manufacturing plants, and especially jet engine manufacturing plants. 2) Turn down the volume on your PC and TV set. And 3) Use hearing protection. Example: I no longer experience any tinnitus, if (in my gym) I wear an ear muff similar to Home Depot Black Folding Ear Muff NRR 26.

I can see where it might be all the waves effecting your ears.
For EMF's and 5G and other waves it might be good to rid your house of wifi, all things wireless including wireless computer mouse, bluetooth, sound bars for TV, TV ect. Use microwave very little if any. Keep your phone on data and do not sleep with it in the room with you. I only turn mine on about 3 times a day to check/answer texts.
I bought a meter that reads 4 different things and our house was so toxic it pegged out the meter and said to leave immediately. Just Wow.
Our house now reads about .05. When we had all tech things ON in our house read upwards of 200 MW/m2 (sq).

How is eating white potatoe help with the hissing /ringing in ear? Would be nice to get info. I am start to go down the path of some folks saying it the whole new 5g and all the EMF going worldwide smart grid. I gone to 4 ENTs …all tests was fine. Good hearing/no issues with ear…no allergies. So is this hissing …where certain times it would go up/down…as if the frequencies fm the smart grid is doing something. Not familiar with this but I am seeing how some folks talk about how EMF can effect our ears…if so, we are the canaries that can hear these frequencies and if that is my case, it's NOT GOOD. Drives me nuts as its now 24/7 as when it started 3 yrs ago…it was right after they put in smart meter and 4 new 5G towers down the road!!! I didn't realize all this til after seeing all the doctors/seeing chiropractors thinking maybe its my neck/shoulder causing this hissing…but a whole year of that and nothing. Hissing still there….I just want to know if it is the EMF or its more of health issues. I will try the ACV for a week in the ear and Hydrogen Peroxide for a week and see if that helps…..if not, I have to mark it up to the new smart meter/5G that came around the same time my ear issues started. I dont listen to loud music or work around noise. I prefer not to be around loud noise so that is not my case. Went to neurologist and he had MRI done on my head and no tumors….so what else can I suggest my doctors to test or look into if its not the EMF/5G then?

Hi Sue,
Before taking all your cat´s teeth out please be aware that when my cat had lost all his teeth (the vet always took out a few everytime he had a toothcleanse)he still had terrible gum inflammation and obvious pain just as it was when he had all his teeth. I find what really helped was colloidal silver, I use Argentyn 23 but I believe that silver between 10ppm and 23 ppm is fine if it is clear not coloured. I just used a needleless syringe with about 10 ml and put it in his mouth. he would just let it fall out of his mouth but it is fine if swallowed. Also there are herbal products for pets. I like Fellimm by the 4 Canadian vets at NHV and I find that it keeps the swelling and pain down.

that is interesting that you write about frequency under tinnitus. I was hit by a car and flew in the air at 4. My head hit the fire hydrant and I was wearing those pokey curlers. I always hated those. I remember around that time I could hear my heart beating in my ears and they rang a lot. Naptime was the worst as a kid. The funny part about the ringing is that some days there is none and other days it has varying degrees of sound. Some days it turns into rhythms, and I hear songs created out of it and other days I ignore it. If a sound from a door or cabinet door happens, my brain will pull up a song with that sound in it and start to play it. Intentionally, I cannot remember many songs or song words. As a kid I would sing these sounds I would hear that were like a foreign language and then as I sang them, I would hear them turn into English and I would sing that. I thought when I grew up, I would write these songs in these foreign languages for a living because it seemed so natural and easy and was uplifting. I sing a lot.
I also see pictures in my mind, I call snapshots. I saw one last month of a black background with a silver wrench on it slanted open end to the upper left. Like an invisible hand was holding it. I frequently see horses and I'm not a horse person. I saw an anvil that had on its squared side a whitish grey horse trying to get out of it and it was wresting its neck like it was trying to escape the anvil, and like the anvil was the material it was being created out of but becoming real. The horse was escaping to the left.
I meditated once, when I met my spouse, he meditated all the time with the words I AM, as his mantra. I did that and saw a vision of me married to him. Today is our 44th and we are total opposites. Opposition will make you very strong from resistance training. Being opposites also makes us full of giftings to strengthen each other. I am creative and he is technical. Life seems to be frequency, Light and color are frequency. The spirit realm is more real than the natural, and the natural is like a hologram. You have to let go to go higher, but the gravity pulls you down. In the natural realm it feels like you have to take care of things, but if you go higher then things get sorted out. You find solutions and there is more clarity.
I don't practice yoga, but I have done a lot of things that took me high. Thoughts create reality.

Hi:
You might want to look into Nada Yoga - I had it turn on after I had an NDE. I think a lot of people who are in their golden sage years turn on the Nada. I associate it with the frequency of Source. I pay attention to the frequency. When I think a negative thought, it will go down. High thoughts can sound like electronic sounds or our little pond peepers in the spring. They all shift and change so I try to connect them with what's happening in the now and see what I'm being told. But it's very comforting instead of fighting or resisting it, to define it as Source, our LoveLight and nourishing. In Nada Yoga, we sit in meditation and pay attention to it and see where it takes us.

For years now during the winter, I experience tinnitus where I hear a low, pulsating, airy sound, like wind. I only hear it when it's really quiet, like at night. I have sinus congestion issues in winter, so I'm sure it's related. I tried the following and within a couple of hours, the condition resolved. I've done this 3 nights in a row to be sure it doesn't return.
Here's what I did: using a reputable drugstore brand hydrogen peroxide (never the $1 store! ), I soak a cotton ball thoroughly and, lying on my side, I squeeze enough in my ear to the point it feels full, like I'm underwater. I stay in this position for 5 minutes. Then get up, using a tissue to catch the draining peroxide. Then, I soak another cotton ball with rubbing alcohol. Lie on my side, drip in my ear, then immediately get up, using a tissue to catch it, and finally complete the drying gently with a Qtip (I know, not too deep). The alcohol helps displace the liquid and dries quickly so you don't have moisture staying in your ear.

Swedish Bitters
Posted by Rob (Kentucky) on 07/12/2021
In the book “The Book of Herbal Wisdom”. In it is a section on Meniere's and Tinnitus. There is a part where Swedish Bitters tincture was given by drops into the ear plugged with a cottonball three times a day. In most cases, the ringing buzzing sound was reduced or completely gone.
An interesting adjunctive use of Swedish bitters is for earache and ear infections where someone is recommending putting tubes in the ears to drain them. Swab the ear canals with Vitamin E from 100 I.u. capsules to reduce any irritation (if needed). Then insert a cotton ball soaked with Swedish bitters into each ear canal. I like to put 10-20 drops into the ear canal first so it makes contact with the eardrum. (Don't worry, it does not hurt). The antibiotic with a detergent effect of the swedish bitters acts to drain the middle ear into the mouth through the short tubes provided for that purpose, known as the eustachian tubes. Change the cotton balls morning and night or more if needed. Usually overnight or throughout the day is enough time for the Swedish bitters to clean the drain and get the plugs out of the tubes which empty into the mouth.
Many recorded cases of hearing problems have cleared up with the use of this procedure when used for several days.

Hi Sylvie, I'm not sure the percentages given are accurate, since they add to 90% rather than 100%. If they're rough estimates, the approximate equivalent would be 2 parts water + 2 parts apple cider vinegar with 1 part borax and 1 part baking soda, uing the same measure, such as a teaspoon, for all ingredients.
However, you might prefer to use equal amounts of Distilled Water and Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, say 1 tablespoon of each, with just a pinch or 1/4 teaspoon each of Borax and Bicarbonate of Soda, at least to start with, and see how you get on.
Good health!

True, tinnitus has been around since dirt was invented and yes, fungi and all manner of organisms invade us. There are roughly about 20 causes of tinnitus the more common ones being hearing loss, bone erosion in the middle to inner ear, anxiety, infection, something called stapedius myoclonus which is a fancy name for a tendon that keeps jerking the stapes bone in your ear. However, Judy has a good point: additional frequencies can cause problems in the body. Let's face it, we are all bombarded with frequencies. Cell phones, smart tvs, wireless in the home, now appliances in a network (Internet of Things IoT). At some point, the frequencies interfere with the normal functioning of our cells. Every cell operates at a certain frequency. When competing frequencies interfere, the cells' functions can be interrupted. This effect has been confirmed so many times in legitimate double blind studies. It is doubtful you will be able to rid of that meter. Every power company in the world has signed on to the smart grid project and that includes linking everyone's home/building to this electronic grid. Faraday cages and other blocking devices may help but they may also prevent a good wifi signal. Tough choices.

Hi Denise..
.The reason that you have tinnitus problems is probably due to multiple factors or causes and not just one core reason.
Here is what Ted from Bangkok has to say about the causes and how to heal tinnitus: "Primarily, the traditional approach to buzzing of the ears is magnesium supplements, but I much prefer powdered form magnesium citrate or magnesium chloride 250 mg taken twice a day. The vitamin B50 is taken twice a day. And most important to reduce stickiness of the blood is the lemon and baking soda, as the simplest, albeit not too effective ways of alkalizing the brain, and will take about two weeks to do that, but the remedy is 2 tablespoons of lime (or lemon) plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water or 1 glass of water taken twice a day. A more effective remedy thats been proven for me anyway, conditions do vary with people, but it is 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate (washing soda) plus 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/8 teaspoon of potasssium bicarbonate (or tripotassium citrate) in 1 glass of water taken twice a day. This one will alkalize the brain generally quickly, usually within 30 minutes and especially taken 2 hours before sleep or 1 hour, to reduce the buzzing. Alkalizing also dilates the capillary circulation of the brain too."
Source: https://ted.earthclinic.com/cures/tinnitus.html
I would also advise that you should also supplement higher-dose niacin -- at least 500 mgs once per day with meals. If you get a heavy or uncomfortable niacin "flush" then just reduce the dose by half. The niacin flush is very beneficial because, as Ted also mentions, thick blood can also contribute significantly towards tinnitus. Niacin(via the niacin "flush") will also safely act to thin the blood. I normally take 500 mgs(once a day) + All B vitamins(once a day) as a preventative now because it both relaxes me and seems to gives me energy as well.
Here are the recommended dosages again for your tinnitus:
* Magnesium Chloride....250mgs taken twice a day with meals.
* Use Ted's stronger Carbicarb remedy(the second alkalizing remedy described above) taken twice a day outside meal times.
* B50 Complex taken twice a day normally with meals
* Niacin...500mgs once a day with a meal.

Hi Sue, I am so sorry to hear how long you have suffered. Do you have any other Autoimmune disease? Do you know what your vitamin d level is? I have tinnitus also, they say, but second doc said mine was from a stapedius muscle spasm. That's the muscle that holds the stapes inside the ear. My ear clicks, doesn't ring. Hydrogen peroxide dropped into the ear seemed to help as does silence: no tv, no crackling of plastic bags or papers, no tv. I have another AI disease and this and the tinnitus have left me without friends and depressed. Doctors are little help. The second one gave me flexaril and valium for this tinnitus but neither did any more than melatonin. I know Vitamin D levels should be over 50 so if you don't know yours, I'd get checked. I am going to do some more research in the medical journals (I have free subscriptions) and then will post more. Best wishes.

Hi Sue, So glad I found your post today, I'm not getting notifications for some reason. Your letter was so heartfelt and I wanted to reply something, it may not be very long as I need to finally eat some breakfast this a.m. and hey, it's already noon here! I wrote something back to MoneyDoc above so you can see some of what I am doing. But to answer your questions, I take ACV (w/The Mother, like Braggs) any you want can help, but I like the Mother ones, organic, non-filtered etc. I just use 1 tbsp and my water. Lately I've added a tbsp of organic lemon juice (but I like to buy lemons too at times) and 1/4 heaping tsp of ginger powder from bulk at health-food store. Very inexpensive and feel it is the best I can get here, unless I buy ginger root in produce section ;) This is all for allergies by the way, and I no longer take anything except this concoction, and also, I do a sinus irrigation every day when pollen is thick. I so hope you find something for your Kitty, I know I wish I'd had EC when I had my little dog fro 15 years. She died in 2006 and if I'd seen all the things that could have kept her from pain, my heart hurts a lot :( Hope to see you again sometime Sue, my niece lives in Lynden WA, hugs, Denise

Hi Denise, I found myself on this site while looking for info for my cat who has just been diagnosed with stomatitis. They say it's best to have all his teeth removed! So I'm in the process of figuring that out. He's young! I'll get it all figured out in the next couple weeks I guess. Anyway I saw the word tinnitus and decided to take a break from stomatitus lol. I too have given up on my tinnitus being resolved and that the closest thing to silence will be the absence of traffic or tv or whatever main noise is going on. I think true silence...honestly...may now just be too quiet for me after all these years of ringing. My closest moment to the feeling of silence and what peace that brings, is just being out in nature and hearing water, a river or ocean. Wind. Focusing on that instead of my ringing. That is my silence. I guess I long to enjoy those sounds without ringing override them. I find I usually can and am very appreciative for that. And I wonder, what is true silence? Isn't there always some noise from anything or everything from the day I was born? Most likely! Maybe I long for something I never actually had! I have 3-4 high pitched constant ringing tones, they all blend together but yet are separate, hard to explain but I'm betting you and many others understand! I first noticed a couple tones back in1982, I was 22. It's never went away. It's super loud. One of the tones pulsates. Constantly. Adds a nice little diversion from the others! I can even hear them during takeoff on an airplane. So trust me I well sympathize and understand. One thing that helps me is that I pretty much always have some random song stuck in my head and it helps direct me away from the noise. I don't pick a song they pick me from whatever I've just heard in passing, commercials, phone ringtones even. Those are annoying lol. At least it's just one song at a time but whatever song it is sometimes stays for a few days. That can be bothersome if I don't care for the song so at that point I'll simply think of another one. Whatever works right?! I don't know when I started with that it just sorta happened, maybe to keep me sane lol!! I wonder if others do that. I'll admit there are times I just want to bang my head against something in frustration and sadness at having this and just wishing with all my heart that this wouldn't last forever. Probably twice a year i'll give in and bounce my head against the couch a few times. Then I feel silly and I'm done. Just makes me feel better for a moment so I indulge haha. Next I count my blessings beginning with how there are much worse things in life and I'm alive and well. I mentally move on because it just doesn't help to think about it more then that. It's not easy to accept tinnitus, but I know that what helps the most is to just not think about it. Mostly I keep my thoughts on other things and accept the "music" of my brain. It's hard. But what can we do right?! I do have a fan going when I sleep, and my fish tank has a nice low hum that helps in the living room. I haven't tried many other things really, as when I occasionally look for information to see if there is anything new, I find I get my hopes up and then read forums where so many found out that whatever it was I was looking up, didn't work. So I just thought best to learn from that and save some money. How do you take the acv? That stuff sounds terrible lol, I use it for different things at times but the smell just knocks me out and I can't imagine ingesting it. What does it help you with? Anyway wanted to let you know your not alone, I read your message and truly understand. I hope your doing well otherwise and are staying healthy with all that is going on right now. And stay strong!! My prayers will be with you, Denise!

Hi Denise. I understand healthcare problems as here near Atlanta there're lots of providers but few "doctors." Although one dr I saw in January did say the brain tells the ear that it is hearing something when there really is no noise. Hhmn. Could our brains be sending us a message we don't want to hear? Mine is not ringing, but ticking or clicking. Doctor no 2 said he thought I has stapedius muscle spasms. In the medical literature this is called "myoclonus" and is "treated" with botox or surgery. Neither sounds good to me. The MRI that they do is to tell them whether there is a tumor on the acoustic nerve. A contrast medium is injected into your vein and it is gadolinium. Gadolinium is an iron-oxide compound, some of which stays in your brain/body and is not chelated out. There are lawsuits over the side effects so there must be some big effects because lawyers don't take small damage tort lawsuits, only the high dollar cases. Plus the cost is high even with insurance so I have not had an mri. If you can ignore yours with the white noise app, does that tell you anything? Are there unresolved issues? Years earlier (2016-17) when I was taking care of my dying parents, this clicking appeared then. I was very stressed, working at their house 10 hours and doing my job online. When I got rested, it went away, took maybe 2-3 weeks. For the past 20 years, I have worked roughly 10-12 hour days and have developed another autoimmune problem. No sinus issues. Do you have other AI problems? A few days ago I put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in the ear. Seemed to help. Maybe I will start drinking ACV. Maybe I will just start drinking 😉

Hi Allyson, Thanks so much for your feedback/suggestions. I do acv, so I hope that is already helping the spurs, and all the other things it's so wonderful for ;) I mainly eat red potatos but I can do white, which I had a huge bag of and just finished it off! I'll keep that up, and, find the book you recommended! Thank you again, and have a great day! Was so happy to hear from someone ;)

Denise, For your ear ringing, eat white potatoes every day. For bone spurs, apple cider vinegar will dissolve them (sorry do not know dosage but google it). If you by chance have spinal stenosis, it also can be dissolved easily in 6 months, go read “Older Spines Feel Young Again” by Dr. Debra Katchen (misspelled I am sure).

Something I didn't mention in my earlier post was that I am pretty certain that mine has nothing to do with my ears. Only the fact I can hear the ringing. I think it's all in my head, lol ;) Well, what I mean is, the bones, in particular. I have bone-spurs in my neck, supposedly caused from Cervical Dystonia, and I have strange head-pain in that area of my lower skull right behind my ear?? Anyway, I should donate my bod to science so they can really take a look at what caused all this ;) When I look in the mirror, which I try hard not to do, lol, I can see my head is not on straight, lol! No really, it's like a teeny bit off-center like my neck is crooked. Who knows, I'm just glad I can find alternatives to drugs on this site ;)

I don't think anyone is lucky that has tinnitus, but I hope yours is not permanent like mine seems to be. I've taken some steps lately, just started the Boron (Ted's remedy for bones, arthritis, osteo) and I am hoping that helps not only with my arthritis, but maybe even my tinnitus. I find it interesting my first day using 1/8 tsp in my drinking water (1 liter) yesterday, last night I went to bed and started reading, and literally forgot about my tinnitus. Then when I realized I had read like 2 chapters of my book, with no white noise, I realized it was so low it didn't bother me. Maybe a coincidence but I can only think of one other night I slept without white noise in the last 4.5 years! We'll see I guess. Still have not turned on any noise since I got up either. I am sorry I got no notification about your post/reply, until today when I went through a bunch of the "latest Posts". I'm also doing h202 inhalation, just once in awhile, like 2 times a week, ACV/lemon/ginger every a.m. for allergies and helps a lot of other things, although not tinnitus. Then I also do sinus irrigation every day for now since the pollen is horrendous here. Anyway, maybe one day "soon I hope" we can communicate on a regular basis. Thanks so much for you reply, oh, and no on the MRI. I live in a sort of desolate area of California, near the Forgotten Coast (and I know why it's called that). Huge lack of good medical care here. I had to drive 350 or more miles to get to dental school in San Francisco, just to have a tooth examined :( Then 350 back home, in one day :( arggg!! LOL!!

Hello Denise, I truly feel for you with your tinnitus. Guess I am lucky I have only suffered for 6 months. Has a doctor urged you to get a contrast-based MRI? Mine has although he does not think I have an acoustic neuroma (tumor on auditory nerve) Has anyone ever suggested this to you?

Hi Rose, I don't see a "reply to Rose" so I hope you see this. I just saw your post/reply today to me! Thanks so much for that. I'm doing the Boron for arthritis and it seems to be having some effect on that, but also, on the tinnitus. Not really sure. Too early in the game to know, but I want to keep folks up to date. I was kind of surprised to see anyone using DE because that's what we used to kill bugs with, like cockroaches. I was told it is like tiny razors and killed the bugs that way. I can't imagine swallowing it, but I must not have the right info on what it is if you are doing fine with it. I just wanted to make sure I tried to thank you for your help Rose. I don't understand this website as far as being able to really communicate with people, but I am grateful for the info I read. I will let people know of my progress. I'm on every day looking up something ;)

Hi Denise, I developed tinnitus and didn't know what it was for a long time until I came on here. Nothing worked for me either. Like yourself, different things kept cropping up so I thought of a cleanse and eventually found the diatomaceous earth thread. I started slow building up but found that a tablespoon was too much. If I have a quarter teaspoon in a small bit of water each morning, followed by a good glass of water afterwards before breakfast of the FOOD GRADE, keeps me 'regular' and eventually cleared the tinnitus. Extra water is the key when taking DE. What works for one does not always work for another, I have found that I just have to keep trying different things. It may be worth a visit to the DE thread and a good read will help, just never start on more than quarter teaspoon first and find what suits you. I now leave it off after a couple of months for a month and start again. Good luck whatever you try.

This one really caught my eye Heather, because, I had the worst sinus infection of my life in and around 2010. I've never connected it with my tinnitus but I am wondering. I was put on antibiotics for 3 months, and, I could not live without a Benadryl (by way of Tylenol PM) every night. When my equilibrium went so bad that when I was driving nothing seemed real to me, the trees, everything around me and scared me bad. I made it to my sisters house hoping she would sort of watch over me (boy was that stupid but it did pay off). She and her live-in man-friend took off for the casinos and I ended up alone anyway. So I'm laying on the couch with the tv on, wanting to die because my head felt like cement. I got enough willingness to get over to her computer, and googled "natural remedies for sinus infection" and ACV came up. I first thought "oh yuck" then I said heck with it I'm going to try it. I did a tablespoon in water and gagged it down. Then I got back over to the couch. It was the most amazing thing. I felt it actually working in my sinuses, and everything started coming loose. I think it was only 2 or 3 days and I was literally healed. I haven't had a sinus infection since, and I got into natural remedies. But, I still used the tylenol pm to help me sleep most nights. The more I read about natural stuff, the more I wanted to go "clean" so I dropped the pm's never took them again. But looking back, my tinnitus started in about 2011. I remember because I had gone to take a few classes at the local community college. I would get a swishing noise in my ears when I'd get up in the night to use the bathroom. So this went on til around 2014-15, and when I moved into this apt. it was shortly after my T turned into this awful ringing and it is steady, 24/7. I think I need a complete detox/cleanse, should have done it before this. Even looked up ways of doing it but chickened out each time. I have borax, edta, something called molybdenum, and that last one I'm not sure why I ordered it. I've never used not one of these things. I do eat pretty good but still some red meat once or twice a week, no dairy except the rare bit of cheese and/or skim milk. I don't buy it, so I don't eat it 99% of the time. Feedback from anyone welcome but a cleanse/detox I believe is a start in finding out. I don't take any supplements except 200% mg of Mag. Citrate, and I use a lot of natural remedies for allergies like my ACV, lemon, ginger. I also do saltwater irrigation almost daily. I am so grateful for what I've learned from EC so far. The only thing I pray for an answer for is the tinnitus. Seems everything else, including arthritis is wayyyyy better!

Denise, I had it for many yrs in my 30's. I was full of inflammation tho. I had chronic ear and sinus infection for some time. My ent kept prescribing antibiotics and decongestants. However I was told sometimes the decongestants turn the fluid into sludge. After detoxing it slowly went away. I got off all dairy and reduced wheat in my diet also stopped eating meat as much as possible. Also began eating organic as much as I could. Removed chemicals from my environment. Went to green cleaning supplies etc. I did take a course of Zpac and a strong steroid to knock out the infection initially. But I took probiotics after. Best of luck to you I hope you find an answer.

Thanks much Andrea, worth finding out about that although I think that shows up in regular blood-work? I'm not sure though, but last time it showed I needed D3, and I had a little bit high cholestrol, then hypo thyroid. I hated the feeling/side effects of the meds she gave me for the hypo thyroid, so I trashed them after getting on EC and when I went back and had them do the bloodwork again, all was fine, good numbers ;) I'll look at my online records to see if iron was on there. Thanks so much for your reply. I've haven't gone to a chiro yet, but did years ago for a shoulder injury. He was wonderful, fixed it in 4 or 5 visits if I remember right. Not many, that's for sure. Back when I lived near Lynden WA. I am limited with my insurance which is called Medi Cal, California's name for medicaid. I don't think my NP can refer me to a chiro, but it may be worth seeing about physical therapy. I was told by an alternative medicine type friend that he thought it had to do with my cervical dystonia. I've had that a lot longer than I've had the tinnitus, and I have a pretty good exercise routine that help with that neck kind of pain. I don't know, as you probably know it gets discouraging when you seem to have too many things going wrong at the same time, lol ;) But I need to be grateful at how learning from EC has helped me in so many ways:) Thanks again ;)

Haven't seen any new posts on EC about Tinnitus, but it's too bad because I am still searching for an answer/fix after 4 going on 5 years of this insidious condition. A silent place, like being home alone, is my worst enemy. I have tried so many things I've seen on EC, but never found anything that touched mine. When I am out and about, especially driving, I don't notice my "T" (I'll call it). At home, I have my app on my phone running (Chrome Doze or Whist tinnitus if mine gets high-pitched). All night I have to have it til I fall asleep, but the Chrome Doze doesn't use hardly any battery so I just let it run. I live in a strange place that has this little app running pretty much, 24/7, especially since I retired, and don't go much, plus, the covid stay-at-home. Well, the best reply imo, that I read here was from 2012 about the Essiac tea. I may try it but haven't a clue which to buy on Amazon. I have a drawer full of supplements that didn't work for me. I do NOT believe mine has much to do with my ears. Other than they hear this sound coming from my brain ;( I get sad when I read these forums about tinnitus and rarely do read them. It's better for me to accept it, that I'll never enjoy the sound of silence again. I hear even people that lose their hearing still have the ringing. I don't even bring it up anymore to my doctors because they have no answers for me. I live a healthy, active lifestyle (exercise, lots of whole foods, lots of water). I find huge relief from allergies doing saltwater irrigation, and ACV every day, twice a day in worst times of the year. I have found wonderful relief from other ailments here so I think there is a lot to Ted's fixes, as well as the many, wonderful, people that share their stories. I wish they'd come back because I am lonely for the company of people that suffer with some of the same things I do. There is not regular gathering of people with health issues. This has the best database, only wish it was more like a regular forum. But at least the info is here to read.
Thanks many thanks, to everyone who is still around, as well as those that have moved on. Denise
Healing Tinnitus Tips

Hey Tom, thanks for your post. I know there are so many reasons for Tinnitus. I'm pretty sure mine came from something other than sounds, but I can't be sure. My bro is a musician and I keep forgetting to ask him if he developed tinnitus. He used to just blast the stereo so loud that I would get out as quick as possible when we were teens. The hearing aids are very interesting to me because I've heard about them from my sister as well. I am having some hearing problems with age, and especially in my left ear. I don't need aids "yet" and hope I won't. It's so weird that I can still here slight sounds, even when my ears are ringing, that's one reason I question it having anything to do with "hearing" or my ears. I think I should call mine "brain ringing" ;) I do use 2 sound apps, my normal sort of white noise one is called "Chrome Doze". Uses so little battery, love it, and no ads or interruptions, ever! It's going right now because I don't keep tv on or music all day. The other app is called Whist and it is for tinnitus it says, specifically. You can adjust the pitch. It goes so high you can't hear it, probably only a dog could hear it.

Thanks for your post Phillip, I am so glad you are in remission. The Tinnitus thing has changed my life, in some negative ways as well. It's hard to be around people if it's a quiet gathering, as I can't play my sound-app, it would drive them crazy. I stay home a lot, and live alone so I am most comfy there. I would be afraid to go out dancing like I used to, for fear of further damage/worse Tinnitus. I was wondering if you would tell me what app you found that measured your frequency? I do have insurance but the one audiologist in my town is closed for now due to covid 19. Or maybe, he just was closed that day. But if there is something I could download I'd be so interested to know how loud mine actually is. Sometimes it gets so loud, it sort of spikes for a few seconds and I pray for it to come back down. So far, it always does, then my normal ringing sounds pretty good. Maybe I'll turn off my wifi at night, who knows, worth a try ;)

I have leukemia and is in remission. I had to have two bone marrow transplants. I've always had tinnitus my frequency is around 9.2 kHz. I downloaded a frequency generator with a sweep mode and that's how I determined my frequency. After that I had baby hearing test done and they say it was about 9.5 kHz. One morning about 3.5 years ago, I woke up and had lost 50% of my hearing in my right ear. Ear specialist said it probably was from Wi-Fi. I had steroid shots in my right ear 5 weeks in a row but it did not help at all. Now restaurants bars anywhere there's a lot of noise it seems that I hear everything but can't understand the conversation at my table. And sometimes the noise is overwhelming. Except with music. And I seem to hear more of the music then anyone around me does. Maybe my right ear is filtering out the frequencies that may be masking certain notes that I hear? Kind of like what a graphic equalizer does. Even in a quiet setting, I have trouble following conversations, I hear a person fine as far as volume goes, but I keep having to ask them to repeat themselves. And I can hear the dog down the road barking during the conversation. It's all very frustrating and annoying at times. I could really use some help with this issue. I do have Wi-Fi still but I've moved it to the farthest place in my home and the Wi-Fi level is in the safe mode according to the microwave app that I downloaded and tested with. And I turn my router completely off AKA unplug it at night.

Astaxanthin also comes in 2 mg, 4 mg, 10 mg, and upward. I recommend starting at a lower dosage , once a day, because, like I mentioned above, I learned after just a few days that I'm allergic to Astaxanthin. However, I now take Antarctic Krill Oil , and it contains astaxanthin. Each softgel of this Krill Oil contains 200 MicroGrams of Astaxanthin, so I can still consume astaxanthin, but in a lower dosage than with pure Astaxanthin. I now use it 2 or 3 days a week, 2 or three softgels each day , and my intake of Astaxanthin is now .4-.6 mg each day I use it. My allergy doesn't affect me as it seriously did with 4mg-10mg, and I still notice benefits in my inner ear and eyesight.

For Tinnitus, try Astaxanthin 2 mg 1 softgel per day. This helped me until I learned that I'm allergic to it. Nevertheless, Astaxanthin can not only relax your inner ear, but it's beneficial to your eyes as well.

I started noticing tinnitus after playing in a loud rock band for about a year. I may have had it before but never knew the term or it even existed. Cut to the chase, I tried a whole bunch of supplements & couldn't really tell if they were helping or not. Perhaps the bioflavonoids, niacin (with flush), or the NAC (these are some of the best supplements I've concluded) do help some.. still uncertain but it can't really hurt to experiment with since they have additional benefits. What helped me the most was Julian Cowan Hill's videos. Just google him & check him out on YouTube. So my onset was about 8 months ago. Since then, I've been very careful not to aggravate my ears too much more so they can heal properly. I had to quit my band which made the most sense to me, I carry ear plugs in my car if I need to get them and I'm not afraid to walk out of anywhere that's too loud for me. I had a few times in religious (church)/spiritual environments (singing bowls) where it was too loud and I stayed and had a full relapse for like a week or 2.
So my advice again is to listen to Julian's videos (he's the man), and stay away from further damage. With music now I just play at a lower volume and have given up playing with a drummer at least for now. Hand percussion is where it's at anyway. I also had some custom ear plugs made for about $200. If yours is really bad after a few months, look into getting a hearing aid that plays sounds that cancel out the tone of your tinnitus. There's also a few great phone apps out there like ‘Resound' where you can dial in a sound close to the the tone of your tinnitus with white/pink noise, water, wind sounds, etc., so it's not as distracting especially to go to sleep to. A simple $20 large 3 speed window fan is a great buffer too fyi. Stay positive & try your best to just forget about it, it definitely fades in time. Peace ✌🏼

Hi Charity, you are right on about the Tinnitus and it's many causes. I so hope catching it early, just 3 weeks, that Emily can get relief quickly and that her's is not anything permanent. I've had mine since 2012. And at that time, was also having a lot of the symptoms starting that are listed in this article: https://draxe.com/silent-reflux/ I have heard of a couple of folks here having a wax build up as well, causing a sound in their ears/head. I read about someone using a dropper with Hydrogen Peroxide to losin and eventually draw that out of their ear. One of those persons said here doctor told her he couldn't get rid of it for her. I sure question that one?? But honestly, we don't have good medical care here in the Far Northern boonies of California:( Some is good and caring, but just not well-informed on some ailments. So thank God for Earth Clinic. It is absolutely my "go to" for information straight from folks who think more like I do about trying Alternative methods for healing. Thank you for the John Bergman reference as I want to see that video. I have a lot of pain in my neck and back from what was diagnosed as Spasmodic Torticolus in 1988. I feel so many of my issues are absolutely related to eachother;) Learning more every day:) PS I feel very blessed not to be getting any viruses or infections. I attribute that to many of the foods/nutrition I've discovered on EC as well.

There are so many causes of this ringing. Mine was ten years and coconut oil on a Q tip in the ear at bedtime helped it. It returns on occassion but goes away again. A friend is having it with hearing loss and I felt his is caused by hair loss in the inner ear. Castor oil in the ear a few times a day on a Q tip would possibly make the hair regrow. Allergies or a virus can cause ringing. The body produces histamine when the water or mineral ratio if off balance. Lysine fights viruses. Neck issues can affect ears and balance. I like to watch John Bergman on youtube for spinal information. A sinus issue can cause it. A dental issue is connected to the sinus cavities. Low magnesium causes jaw tension that affects ears. Hope this gives you some detective work to do so you can get free. Mine started when I quit smoking and it lasted a very long time. Doctors would guess and go and it led me nowhere fast.

Ringing in my ears: I have been having ringing in the eras for the last 3wks and can't sleep and I always think there is a mosquito on my ears. I went to see a doctor at a clinic and she said I should take tylenol for sinus and colds. I have taken it and nothing has happened, still ringing. I had vertigo last year which was treated, and there and I had some feeling of balance loss before the ringing started. My ears are clear. There is no infection or accumulation of fluid so the doctor checked and concluded. Anyone gone through this? Any idea which approach i should take?

Posted by Gene P. (Knoxville, Tn) on 07/09/2020
Wonderful post, Caitlyn. Your post finally connected the dots for me.
I have had constant Tinnitus for over 40 years. It started after I had an accident that broke my leg with bone sticking out. I HAD SURGERY. As a retired Anesthesiologist I now remember that most surgeons and all orthopedic surgeons give routine antibiotics during surgery.
ANTIBIOTICS kill the good bugs (symbiotic bacteria) in the body and this allows the fungus, alias candida -- that LOVES SUGAR and its carbohydrates -- to grow wild to cause every imaginable disorder in the body, ... and I think that is why every imaginable disease seems to have the same natural cures that kill the same culprit Candida.... and yes, for over 40 years all medical specialists have insisted that there is no cure for Tinnitus.
Time for me to take ACV, Bicarb.. colloidal-silver, DMSO, garlic and every other home remedy seriously. Thanks.

Hi Denise,
I don't know anything about taurine. You can twist the capsule over a saucer to catch spillage when opened and pour the contents back & forth until there is a little less in the short side because it is a bit larger. That should be approximately half.
Also, I wanted to mention to you in Dr. Blaylock's book Excitotoxins he mentions all combinations of food are not necessarily compatible because there can be a conflict of neurotransmitters. For example, my husband and I both become irritable when combining milk and cheese. I would say he is worse with a temper. I just get agitated but recognize it and take about 1/4 tsp. of ginger in warm water...maybe more magnesium, depending on how I feel.

You're saying that a new cause can't emerge for an old problem. Long before cars, people could die of carbon monoxide poisoning from using a charcoal burner indoors. This doesn't negate the fact that car exhaust can do the same thing. Who would ever argue that cars cannot cause CO poisoning because such existed long before cars? That would be ludicrous.

Thank you Art, I'll be studying the site/info you gave us a link to. I am always ready to ready a new, possible remedy. My ears ring 24/7, and spike very high sometimes but it only lasts about a minute, thank goodness. I'm clueless after studying it for the last 3 years since it developed. Thank you again for the new, to me, info, Denise

Many people have reported the problem of Tinnitus on this forum which generally presents as miscellaneous noises in the ear that only the person with tinnitus can hear.
Based on the following study, it appears that melatonin at a low dose may be quite useful for this common health issue! Here is a link to the full PubMed study :

I had a low level of tinnitus for decades, and complete hearing stoppage once about five years ago. HP cured the stoppage and I never wanted it to happen again so I started putting HP in my ears prophylactically about twice a week (it ALWAYS foams when I do it, that's how much wax my ears produce.) Anyway, I haven't had a stoppage again and the beneficial side effect is NO MORE TINNITUS!!!

I developed tinnitus over a few months, and nothing seemed to help it. I I took a little powdered taurine I had sitting around, along with my morning pick-me-up supplements. I seemed to noticed a near-instant relief of the ear's ringing volume I've had all summer. I then looked it up and saw, indeed, there is research backing Taurine for tinnitus. It may be coincidental that the ringing started for me after I cut back a good bit this Summer on (taurine-containing) energy drinks.
