Chronic Sinus Infection Remedies

For chronic sinus infections try the following:

Buy a garlic press. Press 6 cloves of garlic, multiple times (taking the pulp and putting it back in again).

  • Add garlic paste to 4 ounces of 100% olive oil.
  • Add 4 drops Eucalyptus oil.
  • Add 3 drops Oregano oil.
  • Add 1 drop white thyme oil.

Sip this throughout the day.

This is a very powerful Candida killer, as well. So, if you have a problem with intestinal yeast... you might experience extreme problems with headaches, gas, bloating, severe mood swings, crying jags, anger attacks, panic attacks, etc. about the third day of doing this.

I would not recommend doing this unless you have already been doing things which kill candida and know you don't have a yeast problem.

You should also take about 1 cup of plain yogurt and add Multidophilus powder to it, then eat it after you've used the powerful garlic oil as I suggested.

If at all leery about what I just said, try using the garlic oil one time in the morning and one time at night for three days. If you have no strange symptoms, try increasing the number of times-per-day.

Because of the powerful essential oils in this, you will feel a slight burning sensation as you swallow. This is caused by the white thyme oil, which is a very powerful antibiotic, antifungal, anti-yeast and anti-viral.

I also mix up an expectorant drink. It, also, is anti-candida, anti-parasitic, anti-bacterial.

To one liter water add: 1 teas. turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon galangal or ginger powder, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon red pepper, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon clove oil, 8 drops peppermint essential oil, 4 drops eucalyptus oil, 1 drop thyme oil.

This will loosten up the phlegm and get it to come out. It will also help raise any phlegm that might be in your lungs.

Realize that you might have a GERD condition. Sometimes GERD causes phlegm because as you sleep the stomach acids raise in the esophagus and irritate the skin. The body tries protecting the mucous membranes and thus forms.

Try raising your bed's head higher than your feet or buying a GERD pillow if you know you also have this problem.

Diatomaceous Earth, food grade, is wonderful stuff. Use it with respect - you do not want to inhale it. I had a sinus infection, which developed following a cold, for several years. The doctors couldn't figure it out. I heard of DE, did copious amounts of research, and ordered some. I put about a teaspoon in a glass of apple juice for about 5 days. That was last winter. My sinus infection went away, and has yet to come back. Now, when I'm feeling crunky, I take some. Awesome stuff. Also use it in my garden to keep the slugs away. :)

Well there is enough from high end doctors and scientist air conditioners do cause sinus problems in a lot. Spewing mold spores, viral parisites, ect. the cooling unit is a toxin waste site. Repairman who do not handle correct can get very sick. Most don't know the connection 40 years ago I learned this and avoid like a plague and that's what it is. My sinus do still get infection of course my cures have been1- 2tbl sp ACV in large water 3x day, good results. 2- baking soda 1tsp in warm water and nettie pot and 1tsp in large water 3x day. Good results 3- 1tsp food grade activated charcoal in glass of water 3x day good results. At 70 I've never used pharmacuticals as they all weaken the immune system and most likely cause something else to go wrong. Let's face it, if they get you well, they make make no money.

Essential Oil Inhalation cure for Bronchitis, Sinus Infections, Pneumonia

I regularly get sinus infections due to a deformity in one of my sinuses. Until a few years ago when I found this cure I had regular bronchitis and lastly in 2005 I had serious pneumonia. I opted out of health insurance years ago so I had to take responsibility for my own health.
I got onto one of those $39.95 sites with the magical cure but this one WORKED! So here it is for all of you.

The following essential oils are 89% antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal. Cinnamon, Clove and Oregano. First, get the best quality you can.

These oils work magic together BUT, you can use just one or a combo of two if that is all you can get. Put 2-3 drops of each oil in a steamer or a steaming pan of water. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET THE OILS ON YOUR SKIN...They burn. Cinnamon and Clove burn. (Cinnamon Oil is the main ingredient of all those lip plumpers :-) Now, inhale the steam with your eyes closed and take it in as deeply as you possibly can, breathing through the nose and the mouth alternately. When I did this with my pneumonia, I felt a kind of crack in my lungs after three or four breaths and everything started to come loose. I coughed up all the guck and was completely well in 5 days. I was so sick that I had bruised my ribs from the coughing and I was very, very weak. Now at the first sign of anything respiratory, I do this. I have never had a reoccurence of bronchitis or pneumonia and very seldom get any sinus trouble anymore. How happy I am that we can all share these wonderful old rememdies with each other! Thanks to this site and all of you.

Dental Care

Five years ago my right cheek puffed out and it was diagnosed as a salivary gland infection. That cleared up but then I had jaw pain which I thought was from tooth decay under a loose crown. Fixing that didn't help and I saw several dentists and doctors trying to find out the problem. Eventually I gave up and lived with the pain.

Two weeks ago my cheek blew up badly and eventually a salivary stone 1/8" by 5/16" came out of the duct. I thought the problem was solved but the swelling persisted. It got so bad that the pain eventually drove me to a doctor. He found another stone was in the duct, about 1/8" by 1/8". The larger stone had a point on it which I was able to grab with tweezers and pull out but this one doesn't and I'm still working on it. But I'm able to push it aside and let the gland drain. Although it fills back up, when drained I was amazed to find my hearing improved and my sinus on that side drained and I could breathe freely.

I had always thought there was a reason for the initial swelling but when I mentioned that I read about salivary stones on the internet and asked an oral surgeon if that could be the problem, he actually got mad and said things like "everyone thinks they're an expert because they read it on the internet". I had asked nicely and couldn't believe his response. I had been miserable for weeks and felt like throwing a punch in his direction but I just left the office. My guess is that he lost a bundle when net stocks crashed.

I wanted to leave this message to show how a seemingly unrelated problem can cause sinus and hearing symptoms... I think an infection has been dragging me down for years and although it's not over yet I feel better than I have for a long time since I've gotten most of the infection out. So check for hard lumps in the gland, from what I've read these stones are more common than most believe.

Take one Cod Liver Oil softgel everyday. I have been doing this since September 1998 and have only had one sinus infection since then. I use to get one every spring and one every fall. This works for me.

Colloidal Silver, Iodine

I had a used plastic nose spray bottle left over from using the Afrin for sinus infection. I washed it out very well, let it dry for a few days and then filled it with a 500ppm colloidal silver water solution that I had bought online. I then put one drop of 5% Lugol's Iodine (also bought online) into the bottle of colloidal silver water solution and shook it up well. I then proceeded to put two to three sprays of this into each nostril while sniffing it deeply into my sinuses...did this three or four times each day ending at bedtime. I have used this to kill my sinus infection and it kills mine in anywhere from a few days to a week of daily use.

I have also used Colloidal silver 500ppm internally at 1/4 tsp four times a day taken internally on colds and also the flu and it works well to kill the germs that are causing the illness. I have also used just Lugol's Iodine 5% in a cup of warm coffee in the morning.

Not telling anyone else to do what I do as I am not a doctor, but I have healed myself with these methods for many years. The way I use the Lugol's on myself and my spouse is: I put 6 drops of Lugol's Iodine 5% into my one cup of coffee in the morning along with a teaspoon of coconut oil and yes, I do use sugar in my coffee. I put the six drops of Lugol's into a glass of water in the middle of the day and drink it all in an hour, then again before bedtime. This works for us very well. Thanks for having this site to help people help themselves and I hope this helps someone as it has me and mine. Read up on it, there are many nay sayers out there to try and keep us from healing ourselves, to make us have to rely on big pharma but I for one don't fall for all of their crap they try to tell us. I believe that we can heal ourselves but we do have to do our research on things very well. Like I said, I am not a doctor nor am I telling anyone to use this and I would not take this much of iodine but just to give you an idea of how much has been used...Here is what I read online:

Just to give you an idea of how high iodine dosages have been taken to in the past we have to revisit the 1930s when iodine was still a universal medicine, present in the US Pharmacopeia and was used at much higher dosages than anyone even dreams of using today. The usual dose for treatment was 300 mgs (46 drops of full strength Lugol's) to 1 gm (1000 mg, 154 drops).

“Extremely high doses of iodine can have serious side effects, but only a small fraction of such extreme doses are necessary to kill influenza viruses, ” continues Derry who tells us, “In 1945, a breakthrough occurred when J.D. Stone and Sir McFarland Burnet (who later went on to win a Nobel Prize for his Clonal Selection Theory) exposed mice to lethal effects of influenza viral mists.

The lethal disease was prevented by putting iodine solution on mice snouts just prior to placing them in chambers containing influenza viruses.”

Povidone-iodine Nasal Spray:

I suffer from regular sinus issues caused by candida and polyps. This recipe has worked the best for me so far. It's portable so you can carry it with you in your pocket. It does not burn at all so it's pleasant to use.

Regularly use 2 – 5 times a daily with a Nasal Spray Irrigator and home-made saline. Povidone iodine is a powerful antiseptic and disinfectant. In contact with skin and mucous membranes povidone iodine works quickly and has a microbicidal effect (causing the death of a broad spectrum of bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa).

Material needed:

  • 30 ml empty nasal spray bottle
  • Distilled water
  • Sea salt
  • Baking soda
  • Povidone-iodine 10%
  • Eye dropper
  • Empty clean water bottle
  • Peppermint oil (optional)

Recipe:

1. Add 1 teaspoon sea salt and 1 teaspoon baking soda to empty “clean” water bottle.

2. Add distilled water to bottle, cap and shake til salt and baking soda have completely dissolved. This is your saline solution.

3. Add 2 full eyedropper of Povidone-iodine (roughly 50 drops) to the empty nasal spray bottle. 2 drops peppermint oil. Top bottle off with your saline solution.

4. Use this spray twice in each nostril 2-5 times daily for a few weeks to resolve sinus infections, congestion and polyps.

Check for Infected Teeth

Sinus Infection -- smell of death in my nose. 30 days of antibiotics didn't help. 3 10-day courses with an immediate return of the smell of death at the completion of each course. Doctor recommended a CAT scan. Decided to try other remedies. First tried, salt (hypotonic), vinegar, and oregano oil in a nasal spray -- seemed to work for a while, but the smell of death returned. Tried peroxide and salt (tonic) didn't work. Went to the dentist for a cleaning. X-rays showed an abscess on tooth 14 -- no pain or symptoms other than the "sinus infection." Had a root canal today. Can already tell the difference.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Manuka Honey, H2O2

I went through 3 operations for severe nasal polyps that were so bad, I started developing rings under my eyes. Very hard to focus and concentrate and feeling very tired like I had a bowling ball in my head! After a year or 2 they kept coming back and you have to imagine your worst congestion 100 X magnified.

I had my last operation 3 years ago and about this past early February it started coming back with a vengeance. I started taking 1 teaspoon of apple cider mixed in a hot glass of water. On top of that I bought New Zealand Manuka honey (400g) Cup of hot water with a heaping teaspoon of this and a teaspoon of organic cinnamon. Once in the morning and once at night.

Finally took Hydrogen peroxide 3% dipped in a q tip till very saturated and for 1 minute on each side of the nose, slowly worked it through each nasal passage all the way back. I'm a new person and my sense of smell is returning. Feel like I did right after my operation. I do this consistently every day. It works! Good health to everyone! Len

Coconut and Oregano Oils, Grapefruit Seed Extract

Long story short... After a week of one antibiotic and 14 days of another, my sinus infection persisted. After three more days of no relief and coming across this site, I picked up some coconut oil, oregano oil, and grapefruit seed extract. Using one tbsp coconut oil with food or hot tea, two drops of oregano oil under tongue (great in salad too! ), and 10 drops of grapefruit seed extract in fresh juice three times a day, all major symptoms are gone. Thank you all for sharing!

Air Conditioners and Sinus Infections
Posted by Americana (California) on 10/07/2013

For those of you who don't believe the A/C is the cause of the sinusitis, have you considered what lives inside your ductwork? It's not necessarily the air conditioner causing the problem, it's the mold, dust, and bacteria living in the ducts. These are easily cleaned. In my region, I call a local carpet cleaning company who also cleans ductwork with their steam equipment. Works beautifully to clean them.

Great info. So after an awful infection for 4 days I woke up with the worst pain and was about to go to Dr. to get antibiotics. Didn't want to take them so I decided to goggle home remedies and I had everything already (candida) so I drank some homemade water kefir, took a dose of OOO (Olive leaf oil/ oregano oil) straight with kefir to wash it down. And made a homemade salad dressing for my salad. I used virgin olive oil, _____ liquid amino, a lot of _____ ACV, one pack of stevia, cayenne pepper, salt, garlic powder, a garlic clove diced up and some dried oregano. I ate my salad with my homemade dressing and drank my kefir and within one hour I felt great. Headache gone, balance back, swollen sinus pressure gone, and it doesn't hurt to breathe. I didn't want to believe it would work so quickly but it did. So ACV, water Kefir, and OOO (Olive of oregano/olive leaf oil) gets three thumbs up. I will continue treatment for several days.

Yes!!!! The capful and a half of peroxide and salt saline rinse changed my life. I have not had a sinus infection or ear infection for years. Caution!!!!!!! There is a reason drs tell people to stay away from this treatment. If not used very carefully conservatively you could break down your silia. Without your silia your mucus membrane can't protect itself. The reason I tried it was unbelievable high pain level. Within 10 mi of my first treatment I knew it was going to help. Stop using as soon as the sinus swelling pain is down. Never use this as a daily rinse. As always just my experience. I am not a Dr.

Hydrogen Peroxide, Salt and Baking Soda

Yea! This really works! From a 46 year old with over 10 years of fighting Sinus Infections: I am sold on the effects of Saline Rinse, Baking Soda and followed up with Apple Cider Vinegar and Zinc.

After over a decade of dealing with sinus issues (two years of using sinus irrigation), I have found that the combination of frequent Saline Rinses including Baking Soda and following up with nasal sprays of Apple Cider Vinegar and Zinc, really worked for me in fighting a bacterial sinus infections!

This is what I did:

Twice yesterday, I rinsed with 2TB baking soda, 1TB Hydrogen peroxide with 1TB sea Salt in my usual 8oz sinus bottle.

Approximately 3 hours after the last rinse, I began using Apple Cider vinegar as well: I took an empty nasal dispenser (Zycam or Afrin will do). I washed the dispenser thoroughly in very hot water. Then I filled the clean dispenser with equal parts Apple Cider Vinegar and filtered water. I pumped the ACV/water solution in each of my sinuses 5 or 6 times and for a few pumps I put my head upside down in the sink so the solution could reach the top of my sinuses. Although it stung slightly, it did not burn like the HP does.

I also sprayed my throat with Zinc Spray mixed with Apple Cider Vinegar. I then gargled with sea salt and baking soda mixed with warm water. I had realized the bacteria was beginning to infect my throat. I had developed pain on one side of the throat and signs of blood in the mucus when I coughed from my throat.

After following the program above, I was delightfully surprised this morning. I did not have a head full of mucus nor any sinus pain or pressure; only minor congestion. When I did a regular saline rinse this morning, a very thick brown clump of drying mucus/puss tinged with brown blood flew straight out of my right sinus after the first rinse. I did another rinse and only minor and regular looking mucus came out. My hope is that the combination I used last night (as listed above) finally killed off the bacteria infection in my sinus and what emerged was the remnants of that infection. This is very promising as in a persistent bacterial sinus infection, it often takes me four full sinus rinses to clean out the puss from the bacteria. Plus, I have had no pain or congestion all day today after 4 days of pain with lots of pussy mucus .

A note on Hydrogen Peroxide: Even just 3Tb of Hydrogen Peroxide in my 8OZ sinus rinse, has caused irritation to my sinuses in the past. A side effect of using Hydrogen Peroxide, is an hour later I usually end up with more mucus and stuffiness. I imagine this is due to the irritation to the sinus tissue. (as the member from Hawaii noted from his experience)

Another thing I have learned that is is risky to tilt my head to the side when doing any sinus rinse especially if it has HP in it. I think it is better to hang your head upside down as the solution is able to penetrate your whole sinus. Head upside down reduces the exposure of your Eustachian tubes to collecting fluid as can occur when you tilt your head.

Good luck! and take it from a veteran of this. Be patient, be consistent and if you are trying a remedy for the first time, reduce the ingredients to prevent from ill effects. YOu can always add a little more of an ingredient next time.

It is your body you are taking care of; use care and compassion toward yourself. Dealing with Sinus Infections can be a long process but it is better to be conservative than to damage your ears or your sinus tissue in trying new cures.

Carpe Diem! and Bien Salud.
