Apple Cider Vinegar
Posted by Adrienne (Chicago, Il) on 01/15/2010

I have seen my question a few times, but never found an answer. I have candida and have subsequently stopped using all forms of vinegar. Can anyone explain how/why ACV can be used as a yeast remedy?

ACV, in addition to clearing up candida is excellent in bringing the body's ph into balance. Often the body becomes too acidic and becomes sensitive to aliments such as this. I use ACV often to maintain a healthy ph.

Actually, this is about the baking soda/apple cider vinegar/lemon yeast cure. I have a very very very bad allergy to all glutens.. Including corn. I recently learned baking soda contained or was made from corn when I had a horrible reaction to some gluten free cookies and for the life of me could not figure out the reason. Baking soda.. Was the reason. So, I highly highly suspect I have candida. The amount of classic symptoms I have are too many, including severe digestion and sinus issues since I was a little girl. Severe is an understatement. Chronic fatigue, ear issues, sore throats and recently severe lack of focus and much fogginess. Can This Ted person recommend a substitute for the cure containing baking soda... Please.. For a desperate person. I know Candida causes allergies, but we cannot cure it if I have a severe allergic reaction to the baking soda first.. And my intestines severely and catastrophically shut down, which is what typically happens. Also this boric acid, peroxide face thing. I cannot find a recipe for this or a step by step on how you are supposed to use it. (Recent red marks on face which seem to be a reaction to EVERYTHING... Sunscreen, powder, any type of makeup, face wash.. Etc. )

Carriedove, I lead a gluten free life and I can tell you that absolutely for sure, there is NO gluten in corn! I would know because I have bad reactions to all gluten sources. Go do some research and you will see, corn is gluten-free.... Thank God because I can eat corn pasta, corn bread and corn on the cob.... I hope you find out what else it is that you are allergic to... But its n-o-t the gluten in corn. Db

Caprylic Acid
Posted by Anonymous (USA) on 12/29/2009

I have been on a Candida Diet for about 6 months, definitely with some improvements. However, just couldn't get rid of this recurring yeast infections. After further research I kept on hearing about capryllic acid, and what a powerful anti-fungal it is. What I didn't know is that you have to slowly build up the quantity (the lady in the store suggested 3 in the morning, and 3 in the afternoon). Long story short, 7 days later I had a Herxheimer reaction, also known as a die-off reaction. Mine was pretty crazy though, very scary especially if you don't know what the heck is going on and have no one to talk to about. For about a week prior I noticed red, hot burning checks, especially after I came out of the shower. Then my cheeks started becoming really dry and started slightly peeling. As mentioned, 7 days later, I woke up with extremely itchy palms in my hand and feed. Within hours the itchiness spread throughout my entire body. Something was obviously in my blood stream. It was a weekend so I went to Urgent Care as I started noticing really huge hives showing up. I was told to take Benadryl, which somewhat helped. I broke out in hives and rashes for the next two days. On day 2 and 3 both my eyelids were swollen. The doctor simply called it allergic reaction and prescribed steroids. Somebody told me to go and get hydro colon therapy for 3 consecutive days. I had my second one today. Most of my rashes, hives and itchiness are almost gone. And my eyelids are almost back to normal. In retrospect I found a lot of online information how capryllic acid can cause a herxheimer reaction, which is why you need to slowly build up the potency over a couple weeks. I'm so glad I didn't take the steroids. Well, hopefully I rid my body of the candida by now :-)"

When searching to overcome ANY health problem, please don't neglect to consider msg and free glutamate. I fought candida, heart palpitations, fatigue, muscle symptoms, fibromyalgia, headaches, neck pain, foggy thinking, stomach problems, trouble swallowing, and so much more for a great number of years.

I believe in limiting carb intake and eating only complex carbs, along with fresh healthy vegetables and protein. I believe in exercise and stress reduction and prayer or meditation. But the thing that finally took away the remainder of my symptoms was to eliminate msg and free glutamates from my diet. Also aspartame! These are excitotoxins which do great damage to your body!!!

The most helpful information that I have found are on the websites msgtruth.com msgmyth.com nomsg.com and dogtorj.com. Also, glutathionediseasecure.com.

Adequate Chewing of Food
Posted by Janey (Leeds, Uk) on 02/04/2010

I think this is a good suggestion and not something that comes easy to me I always eat fast, people comment on it too it is obvious when they finish after me always, they say you ate fast I say why not tell me when you notice I am! I have had digestion problems and candida for years so it's a worth a try, I should be doing it anyhow.

Adequate Chewing of Food
Posted by Karen (Henderson, Nv) on 09/24/2010

I also eat fast, have candida but also have leaky gut which is made worse by not chewing my food enough. This then caused tons of food allergies because the food particles get into the body cavity and decay producing toxins along with the candida toxins. This then causes a series of other problems for me. Hashimotos thyroidis, endometriosis, fibroids, PMS, Acne, brain fog, bad memory, insomnia, fibro, chronic fatigue and more so its really important to chew, chew chew. Still trying to fix all these problems. Whew

Multiple Remedies

Hi there, I started oil pulling with sesame oil about 10 days and it has been great so far. After 2-3 days, my BM increased and I got worried about my gluten intolerance but figured out it was the effect of oil pulling. I am also experiencing a sinus mucus draining so for the first days, I even quit my sinus rinse because my sinus was getting cleared with oil pulling. Now, things have changed. Anyway, on this forum I learned that coconut oil is another great oil and that I can also take it internally. I researched and now have a nice jar of coconut oil. All my life, I had issues with my digestive system and I started having reflux at age 12 maybe before.

I took a table spoon of coconut oil and wow what a bad nausea I experienced! It kept me away from food yesterday.

Today, I took baking soda in water before breakfast (thanks Ted) and had breakfast about 20 minutes later. I started eating cucumber one of the rare food that helps me with acid reflux. But had 2 small slice of gluten free bread with olive oil and almond better.

I really want to do something about candida because it can only be that that is keeping me behind. I am gluten free for 3 months and even though I feel much better I still don't have all my energy back.

I don't use sugar anywhere but I love fruits. My favourite fruits of the moment are pommegrenade, pinneaple and banana. I tried other fruits too. I have heard tht the diet for candida means no fruits at all. Is that right?
How long should I stay away from them?

I don't mind a paleo diet aka veggies meat with some rice because that's how I feel the best. Almost anything else causes me reflux as soon as I have more than 3 spoon and sometimes even with very little food.

Here is my plan when I start my candida treatment:

-Take things slowly and then increase treatment
-Use coconut oil, oil of oregano, garlic, cloves, ginger and a few other things I read about.
-Alkalize my system by eating veggies like kale, cucumber celery lemon. I love the juice I make with kale cucumber and pineapple with lemon but don't know if pineaple will be a bad choice since it is a fruit.
-I snake with nuts like almond and seeds like sunflower seeds. I wonder if I should avoid the salt I know it is as good as non salty. Also, should I avoid pistachio because they are acidic and not like almond.

I also have reaction to different foods unless it is not the food but the combination. So I am thinking of eliminating eggs, soya, corn, caffeine whiteners I tried even almond milk and coconut milk. It is ok the first time but because I like having my caffeine after my meal, I ended up having reflux.

Any of suggestions will be appreciated. I need help with the coconut oil and how I can stand keep using... I never like its smell. Also, can I mix all the ingredient like coconut, oil of oreganno, garlic, clove etc and use it as a one time treatment? I drink chai tea where I put cardamone and cinnemon with clove are these other spices good for candida? These days even black tea can give me reflux should I stop the tea too?

Sorry for the long message and thank you.

Fruits are an absolute no if you have candida. Pineapple and banana contain big amounts of sugar, which would feed the yeast.

You should differentiate between foods that cause the actual die-off and foods that only make feel you worse. To experience a die-off, I recommend you try eating one whole coconut in the morning and fasting until evening. You should get a nasty headache. Or you could try eating raw cabbage and drinking chamomile tea afterwards. This is what had caused die-off for me. I had a severe headache, shivers and fever. Another way to cause it could be eating a lot of kimchi exclusively (Korean fermented cabbage) and fasting for several hours. Observe your body and remember what this die-off feels like.

Another time eat some bananas and a pineapple. This time you will feel very bad but it won't be a cleansing die-off. It will be very different. For me, it was UTI (urinary tract infection), absolute lack of energy and a very uncomfortable dry throat feeling. You should avoid foods that give you such a reaction.

If you want food that combines many antifungals, I recommend you Indian curries. In one curry you can have garlic, onions, coconut milk, turmeric, clove, cinnamon and many other antifungal spices.

Above all, do your research. I recommend you read this website. It is a wonderful source of medical information about candida and its treatment. http://janus.net.pl/Candida Fungi.htm

Multiple Remedies

Hi Marcin...Great post and I agree with all you say. I also find it odd that many doctors as well as many alternative healers recommend staying off "spicy food" to stay healthy. Yet Indian curries, as you rightly say, contains many beneficial spices and herbs that act to promote the health of particularly your intestines.

I even know certain people that cannot eat spicy food like Indian or Thai curries or Mexican food. They claim that they get "a bad reaction". And they usually always end up blaming the food or the spices and herbs when in actual truth these condiments, unbeknown to these afflicted people who eat them, are actually doing battle with their current candida, parasite or bacterial problems in their gut. And yes, it is an uncomfortable feeling for these people -- and its called a Herx or die-off reaction.

The same may be said for allergies caused by gluten or wheat. These people just seem happy to avoid all wheat and dairy for the rest of their lives. But these allergic people never seem to ask the obvious question -- "Why do I have these allergies whereas other people I know can eat as much dairy and wheat as they like?". These allergies are usually due to all the damage caused in their intestines by ongoing invisible pathogens in their gut like candida, parasites and bacteria. Invisible = Undiagnosed. These allergy problems can also be caused by low stomach acid - which also encourage rampant infections in the gut. Don't they want to be cured?

When people taking the anti-candida protocol ask me "When will I know that I am cured ?", I generally tell them that they will be properly cured when they feel much better and when they can eat anything they like in normal healthy amounts -- which includes sugar, wheat, dairy, Indian curries and Mex food. That's the test. Any other result is not a cure -- but is just managing the symptoms, which is what doctors regularly practice with their drugs. And that's a big fail in my book.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I am a 46 year old male who has had the symptoms of Candida for about 15 years. I started with severe bouts of sinusitis for which the doctor prescribed repeat prescriptions of antibiotics. I was on and off these for about 1-2 years until I came to my senses and realised I was not getting better. However, by this time I had developed mood swings and heart palpations and was constantly admitted to hospital to undergo cardiac tests and low and behold they all showed I was extremely fit and healthy at least cardically. The story goes on as many of the sufferers with this problem have outlined until I turned to alternative therapies and one reoccurring condition kept coming up which was candida. Now it seems like I am in the fight of my life I just can't seem to get this thing under control.

Currently:-

Taking 3 x 1250mg garlic tablets daily.
1 x 350mg caprylic acid tablet (not enteric coated)
3 x 500mg echnicea purpurea
4 cups of java tea
pure olive oil with seasame seed.
3/4 probiotics 100 million organisms at time of
manufacture
1 1/2 litres of water per day approx.
restrictive diet (have lost 4 kgs in 3 weeks)
fennel seeds in tea to clear gas.

I have now been on this regime for about one month. The first 3 days I felt 200% better then something must have changed or I did something differently because I am still feeling very weak and understrength. Blood pressure has dropped from 130/90 with pulse at 54 to around 118/75 and pulse 75. Weight was 80.4 kg and is now 76.1 Kg.

As I am working in the MiddleEast I have not got access to all the various things that I would like such as lughol's solution which is banned as in most countries.

I have been following the posts with interest and especially Teds from Thailand. I would be grateful for some clear and sound advise as there is also a lot of contradictory statements or at least it appears so, but my own feeling is that this condition is a monster that can change and affect each person in a different way.

My diet consists of proteins derived from meat and poultry (no pork). I occasionally use minimal honey (one teaspoon a day) in my tea, I have barley porridge every two days. I eat vegetables and recommended fruits.

Oh, one thing after the first month of this routine I tried to introduce cream cheese and went into body shock and had to take a week of work. I woke up shivering although the temp was 33 centigrade, I had to put on two thick jumpers and three blankets to get warm.

I can smell the yeast on my skin and the eczema on my foot is still there with only a slight improvement also
my sinusitis has improved dramatically.

I look forward to hearing from anyone who can give salient advice in this matter.

questions:

1. How long should I continue this routine?
2. Can I find a compromise to lughol's solution.

I do not know if this will help,,but I am a diabetic my self so I have dietary challenges also...If you are fighting candida then it might help if you eat a low low carbohydrate diet. That might starve it out..I might be wrong I did not take time to research it,,but stop eating starchy foods, sweet fruits, no bread. for a few days eat meats, green vegtables a little cheese, no milk no juice. Try it for a few days,,,It certainly is not a diet to stay on,,but it might kill back the population or strength of the candida. Merryanne

Martin UK leads first because candida is very flexible stop and make cycles... 4 days garlic lot of, then stop 1 day. Then 4 days caprilic acid, oregano oil and in the middle east you can find plenty of antifungal herbs.. Now the most important is to protect your liver for die off chemicals of candida.. Take liver protection herbs milk thistle, artichoke, blessed thistle, akorus kalamus... dandelion, NAC(N-ACETYLOCYSTEINE), VIT B5, PINE BARK tea(you cant do it your own) and calendula tea...

There is much more but you must know it when to take ....

I am a candida-asthma suffer too.

Yogurt for candida - If you are feeding yogurt try to find a "greek" yogurt. There is much less sugar in greek type yogurt than any other- even organic yogurt has excess sugar which feeds the yeast.

Search Google for the Candida spit test and try this if you haven't already done so. Not only has my health improved but my spit test results have greatly improved, so I know that at least some of what I have done has worked. I would recommend that read through all the posts on the Candida page and then start writing a Candida diary. This helped me to determine what was having an affect (including foods).

I would much rather you did your own research and devised your own plan of action, however I will the things that I did which I am sure helped in my case:

Lemon and bicarbonate soda drink (or baking soda for the US)
Tiny pinch of borax in 1 litre of water

Vitamins C, B E. Zinc & cod liver oil. Also selenium and Magnesium. I took all of these supplements fairly regularly (2 - 3 times a week) for a few months. This was to address any nutritional deficiencies that might exist as a consequence of the Candida. Also, many of these supplements (esp selenium) are anti fungal.

I also drink blackstrap molasses in water, particularly around my time of the month as it helps. I also drink an apple cider vinegar (with bicarbonate of soda) drink from time to time.

All of the things I mentioned here can be found in this website, so read up on everything carefully and then decide if you want to give anything a try. Good luck.

Great feedback! I have suffered with Candida since I was a child. I had chronic sinus infections and a doctor who was happy to prescribe antibiotics several times a month. The diflucan came next, and I was up to 10 a year, which is awful! This has since caused hormonal imbalances and numerous ovarian cysts as well as insomnia. The classic case I guess you would say.

I have been on a very high end probiotic (candida flora) for months now and have noticed much less bloating and abdominal discomfort. I have just discovered GSE! I am using the nasal spray and the capsules. I am going to try it in a neti pot and make douche next.

Do you have any experience with ACV? I eat very healthy and have a healthy lifestyle.

Thanks again, best feedback so far :)

I have been struggling with candida since a life threatening bout of sceptecaemia some 30 yrs ago. Doctor had me on high doses of anti-biotics for a year to "help my immune system cope". In spite of all my efforts to overcome I am still plagued with debilitating chronic fatigue, heavily coated white tongue, sleep problems, etc.. I am about to try Marvin Lee Robey's protocol of a thorough colon cleanse followed by treatment for 2 weeks with ionic silver and hydrogen peroxide. Apparently 2 weeks is all it usually takes though some bad cases may require up to 5 weeks. I feel really confident about this therapy and will keep you informed about my progress.

Low Fat Diet, MMS
Posted by Teresa (Winston Salem, Nc) on 08/09/2009
★★★★★

I just want to encourage others to stay on a pretty strict low fat diet while killing candida and other beasties. I have had candida for many years and have tried the lowfat raw diet and am now taking MMS in addition to it. I am only up to seven drops but so fat so good, no side effects yet. I think I am feeling well because of staying lowfat this means only fruit and vegetables and rice cakes and sprouted grain breads, etc. Everyone who has researched candida treatment knows most people say stay away from sugar but I learned that the sugar can't feed the beasties on lowfat diet on the internet. I have had very good success with it but I still get symptomatic if I slip and eat to much fat, thus I am using MMS to help kill it off. I am convinced that these two together will make and are making a huge difference. While I don't eat all raw, the MMS and lowfat high raw diet are making a big difference. Also, it is important to normalize your ph and this diet with MMS will do that. I have read that the beasties cannot live in an alkaline environment.

I want to make this site my home page! Ted from Bangkok could just save my life if I continue to get better. I am using his baking soda remedy for a fungus I got from taking antibiotics. Although I still am suffering, I can now at least eat. Doctors I've been to have failed me and in fact, got me in this situation in the first place with their prescriptions for antibiotics and acid blockers. My fingers are still crossed as I am only on day three of his two-week treatment but at least I can say that I no longer feel like I'm on death's doorstep for most of the day. I look forward to healing completely with Ted's remedy. Thank you so much.

EC: Can you please tell us which of his baking soda remedies you are taking? He has posted quite a few of them! Thanks...

Hi, My Mom and I have been doing some research regarding Candida. We are both convinced that we have this condition since we both fit the symptoms to a tee.

Anyway, my question is, my Mom has been diagnosed with high blood pressure and I've been seeing mixed commentary on the web to whether or not taking the Coconut Oil is good for people who have high blood pressure. Should she continue taking Coconut Oil and will it lower her pressure or make it higher?

Any commentary or personal results are appreciated!! Thanks!

Hi Colleen...As a help to you here is a website showing much of the research on coconut oil in our diet:

http://coconutoil.com/coconut-oil-research/

There are many myths that have been spread around about saturated fats and the above web-site should explain all.

I use extra virgin coconut oil internally and externally on body every day, I regard this oil as far more curative even than olive oil because coconut oil is a stable saturated fat, whereas olive oil is a monounsaturated vegetable oil, therefore less stable and much more prone to quickly oxidise.

When I started taking coconut oil, I actually lost weight, my blood pressure went down, my cholesterol levels went down and rebalanced, I had more energy and it was a major factor in getting rid of my Candida.

This is a question to Bill from the Philipines. Bill how long did you take the coconut oil to cure your candida? Maria

Coconut Oil
Posted by Bill (San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines) on 03/17/2010

Hi Maria...It took a year to cure my candida. And coconut oil wasn't the only remedy I used. I also used the following.

* Ted's lime/lemon plus Baking soda 3 times a day for alkalizing the body.

* Occasionally Ted's ACV plus BS or BS on its own on in water to provide more energy and to provide more bicarbonates respectively.

* Teaspoon of Blackstrap Molasses in my coffee for minerals.

* Milk thistle to support my liver throughout the cure.

* Kelp tablets for iodine.

* My own homemade decoction of Tinospora cordifolia, Phyllanthus niruri(Chanca piedra or Stonebreaker) and Tumeric, all of which grow in my garden. I took this for liver, kidney and intestinal support throughout the cure. I have recently included Neem leaves in this decoction, because I found a Neem tree in my neighboorhood the other day. Neem, amongst all its other highly beneficial properties, is also highly alkalizing.

I had terrible constipation for about 7 years and usually had a bowel movement once every 4 days. Not good. The coconut oil had an immediate effect on this, my stools became smaller and softer, and eventually I started to have regular BM everyday. I cook everything in VCO now, even use it on my salads. I have banned all other polyunsaturated veg oils from my diet now, since most of these are highly processed chemically and suffer oxidation too quickly which is bad for the body. VCO should be unprocessed, stable and it takes 2-3 years to oxidize this oil.

Just to say that intestinal candida is an insidious problem that can be very hard to eradicate. It is insidious because initially you don't notice its effects, they sort of creep up on you and since I'm over 60 y o I just thought it was age...LOL. But then I stumbled on EC and read about candida. I now regard any yeast, mold or fungus as the prime human enemy now, far more destructive on the human body than viruses, bacteria etc. Fungus's are way more adaptable than any other microbe, they are neither plant nor animal, they can hide for years, they can transfer their nucleus via their hypha by penetrating host cells in order to hide and breed when under attack. The overall effect of this is to continually weaken and wear down the body's immune system, and eventually to provide a wonderful acid environment to allow in a plethora of other viruses and bacteria. This is why it takes so long to get rid of and recover from candida.

Simply put, there is no one magic bullet for candida. I still regard Ted's lemon/lime remedy as the prime remedy that hepled to destroy my candida. But I also have a very high regard for VCO too.

Hi Bill, Thanks for the prompt response and thorough explanation. However, I have a few questions regarding your remedies:

1. How much lime/lemon juice and baking soda dis you use?
2. Milk Thistle - is this in a form of tea or powder. How much and how frequently do you use it.
3. Kelp tablets - not sure I need it or do I

I have had thrush in my throat (I'm sure it's in my stomach as well) for about 2 months now and went the Rx route but I'm ready to use the home remedies. I am also over 60 and having a tough time of it but I'm not giving up, there must be an answer. I am determined to kill this fungus off and get my life back. All the best to you.

Bill, I have to agree with you on how destructive fungus is to the human body and how deceptive it can be. As you mention it will hid in the body waiting for an opportunity to start growing and a person will never know it. I see fungus as one of the great cleanser of the earth digesting unused material. But what does this tell us about what we are consuming and we get an overgrowth inside. As you know too much toxins and waste. I believe eating clean is a big part of conquering this dis-ease.

I am now for the 4th time in my life dealing with this. I am having great results with EC remedies and your posts. I also used the maple syrup combined with baking 3 xs a day to kick start the clean up. Boy did it do it. I lost 7 pounds from stomach in about 3 days. I feel so much better not having the extra weight around the middle. If anyone tries this be prepared to feel really sick for a week or so.

Thanks for your posts and sharing your journey as it is a great encouragement to fellow travelers.

It's not disgusting if it is what cures you :-)

Urine is not disposal like feces is. Urine is sterile, and in fact, you "recycled" it in your mother's womb for 9 months. In fact your body recycles it today still, just sending excess of it to the bladder for disposal. Our bodies reuse what it can.

I have tried it but I couldn't get over the icky factor. However if you research urine therapy with an open mind you will find some fascinating info.

Betty, You are not the only one that feels this way. I have been reading this site regularly for a couple of years and have always felt that the practice is repulsive. I have never said anything because I knew there would be a huge backlash.

The fact is that Webster's dictionary defines urine as waste, and according to webMd.com, if the kidneys did not remove these wastes, they would build up in the blood and make a person ill. In some cultures, even animal urine is consumed as medicine. In ancient times, dung was used as a poultice for wounds - really not a good idea! Just because some people have done this sort of thing for thousands of years doesn't make it an intelligent choice and certainly doesn't make it any less repulsive.

I'm with you, Betty. It's nasty!

Personally, I would not consider "urine therapy" under any circumstances, no matter how dire. However, if people really want to do such a thing, then it is their own business. That's what freedom means. Even though I happen to be repulsed by this therapy, that does not mean it should be censored from EarthClinic. If consenting adults wish to use this therapy, they are free to do so.

For my part, I'll stick with ACV. That's hard enough to get down sometimes.

Hi, Carolyn - If you will read the thread, the topic is Urine Therapy, not Urine recycling. I know about NASA using that procedure. From what I have researched (yes, I have researched it), it is the DRINKING of your own urine (not cleansed in any way) that I find disgusting. AND by the way I have NOT "criticized" others doing this. I just said that I found it disgusting, and I do. I have had several ailments that I was desperate to find a cure for, but I would NEVER consider doing something like that. There are always far-out "snake oil" theories out there, so "go for it" if you are so inclined. My main point was that posting that as a "therapy" will scare many people away from what otherwise would be a beneficial resource for effective home-remedy type treatments. They will see this site as a JOKE instead of an actual serious attempt to help people. So, all you "open minded people", stop critiziing ME for having my own opinion on a disturbing "treatment" found in this site. I was very disappointed to see such bizarre, far-out-there suggestions on this site that I have come to find interesting and enjoy.

Aple cider vinegar is great for suppressing sweet tooth! Whenever I have cravings I try to drink it. :-) However, if you have to have something sweet then instead of sugar use Xylitol, a natural sweetener extracted from birch cellulose. Xylitol does not feed candida, it is antifungal. That is what I use and it taste really good with no after taste.

Also, another option is Stevia, personally I have never tried it and cannot comment on it. Good luck!

Hi,

Would it be ok to use 12% HP and double the dosage?

To explain - in the UK it's restricted at 35% but I can get 12%. I've found a supplier whose content is just 12% HP and Purified Water (no stabilizers whatsoever).

Greetings to all whom may read this. I am very frustrated to the point of tears. I have been struggling with candida yeast for 35 years. I just diagnosed myself in February of 2009 after going to the thousandth doctor to tell me my body is attacking itself and all they can give me is Hydroxzine and a bunch of other stuff that dont even control the itching. I have gotten the ACV, Cream of Tartar, H202, cayenne, garlic I have been taking it all. I need relief and I am so tired of reading "I got the cure" but you got to pay for it. Thats ludicrus! I dont have the money for all these darn books all I want to know is how to stop this itching and hives its driving me crazy. For once it would be nice if someone who truely wanted to help would state these foods contribute to Candida yeast and use this this many times a day to starve it. I cant stand to buy another book. I want cold hard facts and side effects. I know the body should be akaline not acidity and cream of tartar is acidity. so is ACV I understand this site speaks from those who it has helped. So if it doesnt help then what for me? If anyone can be more informative and detailed i really would appreciate it.

I understand that olive leaf extract and capryllic acid are really good against candida.

Poking around the web, this site looks to have extensive and detailed info, including food lists:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com

She does have some affiliate links if you want to support her, but it looks like the info is all free on the site. Candida can be a persistent and complex thing to deal with but people can and do overcome it, so hang in there and work on it. Best wishes for your healing!

Regarding itching in an acute candida upset, my advice (what works for me)is to vary treatments because candida can become immune very quickly to only one. You will find the itching coming back within minutes if you don't use several things.

Two things yeast cannot stand against: Camphor and ordinary household bleach. First things first, if you're suffering from itching - don't scratch! It only opens the skin to allow a deeper infection of the buggers. Let me first say, NEVER EVER take bleach internally - never swallow bleach! Never put it INSIDE your body, like using a douche or an enema. For exterior itching, in a bowl pour 2 cups of water and add up to 2 tbsps. of bleach (in your shower), bathe the area thoroughly and rinse thoroughly - do again if you don't feel immediate relief. Rinse thoroughly, pat dry, and apply a good medicated powder - even foot powder - that contains menthol and/or camphor. Use a first aid camphor oil preparation, but follow the cleansing with a medicated drying agent. If you use the camphorated oil, use powder afterward. If you can, cover the area with a dry washcloth or piece of cotton. In other words, isolate areas where skin touches skin. Use large cosmetic cotton disposable pads - whatever - just don't let the infected areas touch each other. (Change the covering every few hours.) BE CONSISTENT. You will have to go through these steps every time you feel the itching/burning return and/or each time after using the toilet, (depending on where you are suffering), for at least 2 days.

Take a good probiotic! I was making the mistake of not taking enough. Good bacteria is your friend and you have to take enough to overcome the bad/overgrowing beasties! (You will need to take the probiotic - at a lower dose - for probably a month or more.) A word of caution! Die-off from old yeast will occur, and you might become REALLY constipated. Make sure you drink plenty of water and I take a laxative for 3 days just to help the situation. Whatever you do, stay "going." Another sure thing: Oregano. Making a tea from ordinary dried oregano helps. Drink a couple of tbsps of tea and use it topically for itch relief also. If you venture into using oregano oil (it's very strong), READ and FOLLOW the directions carefully. Research oregano on the internet. It's powerful and very potent and it can hurt you if you use it improperly. (It can be hard on the liver.)

Recap: Take probiotic and cleanse the area to deliver a one-two punch! I can get over a flare-up in one day using this regimen. What I am looking for now is a permanent cure.

In response to N Jo An from Atlanta about Itching and Hives/Candida.

My niece had a lot of trouble with itching and hives after a round of antibiotics. They found that she did have Candida, but one of the biggest problems was Delayed Food Allergies-removal of problem foods reduced the itching/hives about 70%. Once she got those under control, they treated the Candida which took care of another 25%. She still gets occasional hives but usually when she eats an "allergic" food.

The web has many food elimination diets to detect problem foods and an expensive blood test is available. The test isn't 100% accurate, but it may identify some problem foods, then try the food elimination diet to figure out the rest.

Greetings, How do you know that you have candida and not some other fungal infection?

Having lived in moldy dwellings for years - no, can't afford to move - I can tell you that all the diets in the world WILL NOT work if you are breathing in airborne mold.

Diet is not the greatest way to deal with infectious disease anyway. Fasting helps if you don't have diabetic/hypoglycemic problems. Mary

Hello Mary, Part of the answer to the question you asked is: If the infection occurs following a round or two of antibiotics for infectious disease the most likely culprit is candida albicans, which normally is kept under control by the good guys who reside in our intestines, but run rampant when these good guys are killed off by those antibiotics for some other infection. The reason why diet is good for this infection is because candida loves the acid environment caused by lots of sugars and other sweets and dislikes the alkaline condition of a a better and more nutritious diet. When you read EC you will learn about alkalinizing your body to get rid of candida and other fungi/molds because they don't like the alkaline condition either.

Eating more nutritiously also makes your immune system healthier & stronger which makes it more likely that you won't need antibiotics for infections, because your immunne system is the hero in keeping you healthy. I was just reading on line recently about the effect that sugar has on your immue system - they knock out your white blood cells which are the ones that fight off the invaders that cause infectious disease.

I just wanted to mention that (at least here in the US) you can order nystatin oral powder online from Canada, though it takes a few weeks for you to get it.

The first kind I ordered was the liquid suspension. This is a waste of money! I should have taken more time to convert ml into oz to see how tiny the bottle would be. This works for infants with thrush, but not a full out candida overgrowth. I have just ordered the powder (3 month supply) for $150 from Fludan. I'm very excited to see how effective it is, especially combined with the natural treatments. I've been trying natural treatments for the last month with limited success, and that's why I want to combine.

Natural treatments work just as effectively as nystatin, but I've heard (anecdotally) that nystatin works in weeks, where natural therapies take months.

Im curious as to why no one is discussing SF 722 made from Throne. It's THE best antifungal (rumored to be hundreds of time more effective than Caprylic acid) and can be found at drug stores for less that $30. It's the main supplement used in Dr. Jeff McCombs candida plan....

Wow, I had three rounds of steriods after systemic poison ivy. I have been fighting what I believe is candida of my lungs and organs. It has been 8 months of hell. Been to every type of Dr. and forced them to do a candida test which came back elevated. Of course no treatment was perscribed as they dont believe candida is a problem. Trying to treat myself but not much sucess. The worst part is not being able to breathe 24/7.

You might want to try L-Glutamine, an amino acid. It is supposed to help reduce sugar cravings.

I had a case of full blown systemic candida albicans, as I found out through confirming my symptoms with those posted on the Internet. The doctor wanted to hospitalize me but we had no insurance and I had little trust of giving myself to a medical system that did not even officially recognize my affliction.

Daily - I drank sodium borate water [1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon to a quart of water p/day].

Also, I followed a strict diet of no bread, no sugar and no vitamins, for a period of about 4-1/2 months during which time I starved the Candida to death.

During this time I did enjoy Xylitol in place of sugar [ a healthy natural sugar that kills fungus, molds and bacteria]. You can buy it at the health food store as well as Xylitol gums and mints. Beware of the cheaper gums at the discount stores as they generally contain aspartame, while advertising minimal amounts of Xylitol. I also enjoyed lemonade and cocoa drinks that I made with Xylitol. I also enjoyed my pero with no Xylitol or sugar.

I had read about Zell Oxygen as an ultimate cure for candida. I was finally able to get some from www.regenerativenutrition.com where they have the best pricing and availability of anywhere i could find.

When it arrived I had finally starved off the candida. So it was a bit of a stretch - but the Zell Oxygen instructions say to take this product with fruit juice [sugar]. To support the new beneficial yeast that feeds the body and nourishes the cells.

Well I did take the fruit juice and Zell Oxygen as instructed. What happened first was I noticed the candida spores germinated in a short burst - so the newly coming beneficial Zell Oxygen Yeast could move in and take over as it is an air loving beneficial yeast.

I followed the standard daily minimum dose and at the end of one bottle and one month I was free of candida and shortly after I was able to start incorporating sugar into my diet with no adverse effects.

P.S.: The people at regenerative nutrition have an excellent resource to help you find whatever you may need to get better - whatever your affliction may be.

Evie, I know your email was from 2008 and it is now 2012, perhaps you provided your email to EC and they will notify you of a response. First thing, how is your battle with Candida? You tackle the bugger finally?

I never knew what Candida was and have recently started to beat the turds out of it ;). With the help of Coconut oil, my thrush is 90% fixed. I have NEVER had a pink tounge since I can remember. My grandfather got me hooked on candy and all kinds of sweets at a very young age, and as I got older beer became a staple of my diet. Causing a massive outbreak. My intestinal Candida is another story which is still a tough battle.

As for your questions.

1. I think the best solution one can take when doing anti-fungal doseages with good bacteria dosages is not at the same time. What you say in theory to me is very sound. I would take your anti-fungals in the morning on an empty stomach. After an hour or so eat your breakfast then wait a couple hours and take your probiotics, since I believe they all should be taken on an empty stomach, so they can repopulate your intestinal track with the fungas you just eradicated. In the process the fungas should be in a weakend state and the probiotics will attack it even further. If you alternate back and forth rather then at the same time then I think the results will be alot better.

2. I personally do not do the apple cider vinegar that is all the rage. That is one of THE first treatments I went for when I found out what I had and it did nothing. IMO it made things way worse, which people say will happen, except things never got better, they kept getting worse and worse. To the point where I thought my constipation before treatment would have seemed like heaven because I didnt know what a bowel movement was after ACV. Maybe my body does not work like everyone and ACV works for them, but for me it was a no-no. Not trying to discourage people from trying ACV, and yes it was with the mother, since alot of people have posted success with it. Just don't let yourself get hospitalized just because you think you are going through Herx when you might be doing something worse. ;)

Treat for Fungus Infection

I'm 32, smoked 5-10 ciggarettes/day drank 5 beers/day for 15 years. At 25 I was diagnosed with Lichen Planus... Doctors gave me cortisone cream, didn't help. Found this site a few months ago, and have done some independant research since. Ted is awesome, by the way. This post is a little fast and loose, without sources. Basically, ENT Doctors commonly use Baking Soda, Vinnegar, and Borax added to other stuff, and categorize these as anti-infectives. It appears that DCA, which is currently being tested in Canada as an anti-cancer drug is a combination of Bleach, Vinnegar, and BakingSoda... which would seem to kill a bunch of infections.

*****

Back to my problems. 3 months ago: I've got a white tongue, with bumps on the side of my mouth. I usually wake up congested, but it clears before 10am. Often I feel congested, and that makes me want another cigarrette.

I played the watch the clock game, and cut my smoking to 1 ciggarettes/day (after 7 pm)(back up to 3). I cut my drinking to 1 day per week. I started running 2 miles per day. It didn't help with my problems, although I lost 20 pounds.

I THINK that I have this thing figured out... I will post a follow-up in a few months, if I'm cured.
******
Studying Ted's "anti-infectives", first I tried going alkaline (borax and baking soda). This cleared my lungs, but made the bumps in my mouth worse.

Now I've gone in reverse, with the Apple Cidar Vinnegar only, and the bumps in my mouth are disappearing.

So here's my theory. There is a mayo-clinic study from a few years ago that says that most chronic sinus problems are caused by a fungus. As I had a yeast-like taste in my mouth, it was probably Candida. I went to the doc, and got some fluconazole, since the baking soda seemed to be clearing my lungs. Success on clearing my lungs... at least temporarily.... however, the bumbs in my mouth seemed to be getting worse.

It appears that these bumps are a "secondary infection", probably bacterial or viral. Since one problem was cured, I switched to 2 TBSP or Apple Cider vinegar, 2x per day. I had an immediate outbreak of Lichen Planus on my fingers, which appears to be dissapearing completely after a week. Additionally, the bumps in my mouth are 50% reduced.

There was a new study that came out last week that said men have cleaner hands than women, and are less likely to get skin infections, due to their hands are more acidic.

This lichen planus stuff kind of looks like warts, with a dark(blue) center. Since I've been taking ACV... the center of this stuff is red, like it's healing.
******
So I think I had Candida with a secondary infection, and the secondary infection(Lichen Planus) is cured by ACV.

I need some time to completely cure this stuff... but I think I did this in reverse. First start with the ACV to cure the secondary infection(Lichen Planus), then clear the yeast infection (Baking Soda or Borax or Flucon-azole).
******
On the white tongue... listerine doesn't help, biotene mouthwash doesn't help. Flouride toothpaste doesn't help. Brushing my tongue with either Baking Soda or Borax or Both and/or combining Hydrogen Peroxide, will turn my tongue completely red.

It will turn white again within 2 days... I've got some kind of infection. This stuff seems to help, though. I've been very impressed with that 20-mule borax stuff, in spite of the fact that the white tongue comes back.

Borax is not to be feared, just follow Ted's small dosage. His dosage is well reasoned.

to 32-y.o. Rich of boca raton. your white tongue - "thrush" - indicates your immune system is still overwhelmed by chronic systemic yeast. i had it for decades. read Dr. Crooks' The Yeast Connection. there are also other good books at your health foodstore/pharmacy which deal with chronic systemic yeast. i tried fluconazole but longterm solution is careful diet and detoxifying your environment. you MUST conquer your chronic systemic yeast, or else you will get worse health problems because your immune system is overwhelmed by yeast. i'm 57-y.o. and been there. in my case, i had to overcome various junkfood addictions, about which i was in profound denial. beware, and good luck.
