Effective Natural Remedies for Burns

Colloidal Silver Gel

A friend had told me about a burn she had that nothing worked for until someone gave her some colloidal silver gel to try on it. Apparently that worked very well.

I bought some to keep on hand. (Silver Shield is the brand she told me about.)

My daughter and I have both used it for kitchen burns and have been very impressed! It stops pain for hours and then can be reapplied. I love that it is so easy. I tend to get a kitchen burn when rushing around the kitchen and don't have time to trouble with anything complicated at the moment.

Lavender Oil

I badly burnt the back of my right hand when putting the top back onto the coffee percolator, my hand going into the pot of hot coffee, in my panic to get my hand out I forgot to make my hand small enough to exit the narrow top of the pot. A blister the size of my hand appeared immediately. A & E ran my hand under the cold tap and applied cream. My hand was frying with this cream. They told me to come back in a few days and I may need a skin graft. In agony that night I took out my natural remedy book. LAVENDER it said. Grabbing the lavender from the bedside cabinet I saturated my hand, within minutes the pain subsided. I continued to use it over the next few days. Went back to the hospital who could not believe how it had healed and no scarring. I always keep a bottle of good quality lavender oil in my bag for burn emergencies. I hope by sharing this I may help someone, somewhere. Evelina

Coconut Oil

I burned the top of my had while putting wood in the fireplace. My hand sat on the metal screen frame for a couple seconds. I knew it was going to be a very bad burn. I instantly started putting Coconut Oil on it. I put enough on so it looked wet. I did not rub it in. I wanted it to soak up the oil. The most important part of this is keeping it covered in CO. It was unbelievable that the hot, aching burning feeling from a new burn disappeared almost immediately. I burned myself a couple of hours before bed time. When I woke there was no blister! This was so surprising because this was a nasty burn. I continued to put CO on it every chance I go. I think CO is a miracle for so many things that I keep it in my kitchen, bathroom and a tiny jar in my purse :). After two days it became brown and scabbed. It never swelled. In a few more days the scab started to flake off and you cannot even see a burn! This is why I am writing! I have used it before for burns and it was great, but I wanted to write because this was a very bad burn that normally would have blistered and scarred. I use Virgin, Organic Coconut Oil.

Hope this helps someone. I get great advice myself and have used many treatments with success-THANKS!

I've used neat lavender essential oil on minor burns for years for pain relief and speedy healing, but the real test came when I burnt my hand fairly badly with steam. Despite running it under a cold tap & applying ice my hand turned bright red & began to blister. It hurt like crazy. I applied neat lavender essential oil for the pain which took my breath away every time I moved my hand or a slight breeze caught it. The lavender oil dulled the pain for an hour or two then had to be reapplied. The next day, the pain had gone completely, as had the blisters and redness. It was really quite a dramatic healing effect. It calms the pain immediately, but needs to be reapplied every 2 hours or so, and also heals the burn. Amazing stuff.

I just wanted to say how glad I am that your hubby is recovering, and how glad I am for his sake and yours that he left the hospital before the doctors could do more damage.

The essential oil of lavender applied directly on to the burn immediately eases the pain and if you are consistent with applying it, will not peel.

Cornstarch
Posted by Rosemary (Ontario, Canada) on 07/19/2020

I've had success using flour: immediately scoop some flour onto the burn.

Result: absolutely no blisters, ever and pain gone in 10-15 minutes or sooner.

This said, I haven't tried this on a burn that the skin sloughed off at the moment of burn.

Also, delaying application of flour to the burn area, is less effective.

I'll try the cornstarch the next time I have a burn. It's handy to keep a little bowl of flour by the stove; this is where most of my burns occur.

Boiling water on my thumb, first-degree burn. First ice, then tried the aluminum foil cure for the pain but it ended up holding in the heat instead of drawing it out. Then got rubbing alcohol and dabbed the area gently. When the pain returned I dab it again. Eventually (about 45 minutes later) the pain was totally gone and never returned. The next day I have a blister, so now I'm figuring out how to keep it healthy... But zero pain!

Colloidal Silver for Burns

So glad I read this - no kidding, burned my thumb yesterday (bacon grease spatter). Hurt like heck, a small bubble formed.... had that underlying "burn" pain for quite some time. I put colloidal silver on it, took the pain away immediately. Waiting a bit, dabbed some more on then put a band-aid on it. Six hours later I had already forgotten about it. No pain, a small red circle where the bubble was, but other than that - NOTHING. No pain, no general redness, you wouldn't even know there was a burn. BRILLIANT!!!

If yu ever get a burn on any part of yr body use urine...It's known to heal the skin leaving no scar at all.. I've used it for years if I ever burn or cut myself. Once had a bad coffee burn on my hand ..I went into the bathroom, peed into a cup then poured that all over my burn.. I let it air dry and wow the pain was instantly gone. I even healed a burn I had in my forehead from my curling iron. The urine instantly helped heal the burn..xoxo

I was pulling cookies out of the oven and I slipped and burnt myself. I ran it under cold water, but that only stopped the pain for a few minutes. After that I tried Aloe Vera and that subsided the pain for a bit. Then I found this website and saw from a previous comment that toothpaste was good. It really helped. Just apply to the burn leave on for a few minutes then rinse of. It really helps.

HI U SAM, , , , , , , , good post, as I've not seen that anywhere. The Bogalusa DMSO plant supervisor had lots of great stories about how DMSO worked on burns his employees got from steam lines, etc. I know personally that foil works as posted here on EC.

Hot grease splattered on my hand.. The pain was awful. After keeping it in cold water about 2 hours I searched and found these remedies. Tried alcohol first... Wow! Alot of relief with alcohol but the pain kept returing in one small area so I tried the foil method. I was not impressed with it at all. Moved on to the toothpaste. Its been 15-20 mins, I have rinsed it off now and am pain free! Absolutely amazing! Alcohol and toothpaste win!

For fast healing and less pain of minor burns, tea tree oil on it as soon as possible is amazing! I would think the oil under the aluminum foil would work well.

Vinegar

I burn frequently because I am very fair skinned...redness, itching, blisters, peeling, the whole thing. Often. The best cure is the one my grandma made me do when I was young.

As soon as you notice the burn, get out of the sun and soak up some white vinegar with a cotton ball. Dab it on your burn. No measuring. Put it on straight out of the bottle. Don't wipe. Just dab.

Do this regularly and the burn will go away a lot sooner with little to no peeling. The sooner the better with this cure! Don't wait. Also, the smell subsides after a little while. Don't worry about smelling like a big pickle!

Rubbing Alcohol

If you get a kitchen burn that has not broken the skin, but you know you will definitely get a blister. Apply a paper towel or tissue with rubbing alcohol soaked on it and leave it on for awhile. Keep it wet. The time depends on the severity of the burn. If after 15 minutes or more you take the paper off and it still stings place it on again with more alcohol. What this does it it soaks up the burn and prevents the skin from forming any blisters. I have been doing this since I was a child and was taught it by my Mother, and have never gotten a blister in 50 plus years.

This is an old Greek remedy. Good health to us all. Demetrios.
