Milk Kefir
★★★★★
I realized yesterday that my daughter, who has had trouble with asthma for the last few years, and was hospitalized for it in December, is doing great! I can't remember when I last heard her wheeze. We have used many different remedies over the last few years. Until December, we could get her symptoms under control with natural remedies.
Anyway, it took two days of breathing treatments at the hospital to get her oxygen levels normal. I wanted to avoid a repeat of that. I added milk kefir from raw local milk that I am blessed to be able to get to her diet, having read about its benefits her at EC and elsewhere. I make her a smoothie with it most days. She drinks maybe 1 cup to 1.5 cups per day. (She is 11 years old.) It also has organic banana, sucanat and raw cacao powder in it. I had her on several herbs as well. However, a couple of months ago I stopped all other supplements except 1 feverfew a day, which she takes to prevent migraines. (Works great, even though she forgets to take it sometimes.) I took her off of the supplements because she said they made her feel worse. I don't know if that is the case, but I know that what you think about your health affects you. She tends to be a little dramatic, so it isn't always easy to figure out what is really going on with her. I did have a very reasonable doctor for her follow up from the hospitalization. He took her off all meds (that the hospital doctor wanted her on for a year! ) He told me she is fine now and to treat her as such. He was also happy about the raw milk, so he is rather an unusual MD.
Anyway, she has not had any wheezing for months. And she has been quite healthy. She is one of the few that escaped a stomach bug that made the rounds at our house last month. In fact, this is the best her health has been in years, praise the Lord.
This is the same child whose pediatrician thought she had juvenile rhuematoid arthritis a few years ago. She has been symptom free of that for a long time, too. JRA is autoimmune and many consider asthma to be also. Milk Kefir appears to help some with autoimmune diseases, so that is why I tried it. What a blessing it appears to be for her. I know everyone is different, but perhaps this is something that would help someone else. It is a simple and safe thing to try at least.
Have a super day!

I've never posted a review on this site, but this is worth writing about! Had to start slowly, because 1000 mg caused drowsiness...but my peak flow went from 400 to 575 after 1 week!! That is life changing! So for asthma and allergies this is a keeper. Now I'm still only taking a 250 mg dose, 1/4 of a tablet, with those results.

After 50+years of great doctors & resp- therapists, and numerous asthma meds & devices daily (including but not limited to inhalers, nebulisers, discus, pods, antiboitoics, steroids, cortico-streoids, spirometers, chambers, etc.), and numerous hospitalizations every year since childhood, my lifelong asthma was remedied within 2 weeks after I began taking an arthritis supplement that contained a new ingredient MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane). Nowadays, I take MSM (1500 mg) about once a month, as soon as I sense a twinge of chest tightness; I've been virtuallly asthma free for almost 2 years now!
Yes (unbelievably) it was as simple, cheap, and easy as that!

Some side effects which I consider to be cleansing symptoms: nausea, sleeplessness and skin breakouts, but I did start on a high dose of 20 grams a day. After three weeks no more 'side effects'.
My energy has greatly increased, I feel quite euphoric every day now. The only time I had that kind of euphoria was by drinking three glasses of organic green juices a day. I think people on heavy medications, mercury fillings, toxic diet are going to have more difficulties with it, so building up from a small dose with extra vitamin C and plenty of pure water will help.
The other supplement that really helps is Vitamin D3, I take 16,000iu liquid daily, no colds for two years now and my chronic bronchitis of 20 years has disappeared. Some years it was mild others, severe triggering serious asthma attacks. So the combination of Vitamin and MSM has been miraculous for me. This great website encouraged me to try MSM. Thanks so much.
p.s. Brushing my teeth with MSM has whitened them.

I was diagnosed with seasonal asthma, and have had the same brutal cough for about 5 years. It would last for about 3 months untreated. Advair worked but I hated the side effects. Read about mullein on line 4 days ago and my cough is 85% better. The first night I took the drops my cough almost went away and I slept great for the first time in weeks. This miracle plant worked for me. I have been taking the drops 4 times a day and drinking the tea twice a day. In fact... Gonna go make a cup now :)

A Simple Tea for Asthma Saves Thousands Of Dollars In Medical Bills!
From the Book: Miracle Medicine Foods by Rex Adams, p. 31. 1977
Mr. C.Y., a serious asthma sufferer, states: "For years I have been under the care of various doctors for asthma. I have spent thousands of dollars on prescribed medication that at best gave but temporary relief.
"Then last summer, a friend of mine suggested that I try 8 ounces of mullein tea daily for my asthma. I did and for a time saw no results. Then slowly, I began to improve. Now I take no medication and feel wonderful. But I do drink mullein tea daily”…
"Mullein tea can be made from the green plant or the dried leaves and I enjoy it both hot or iced. I do not know that it will help anyone else like it did me, but it is free for the gathering. Too, it is delicious in flavor ... superior to regular tea.

Approximately 3 months ago, one of my mother's friends recommended remedies, from a popular home shopping network, for Acid Reflux. The main remedies are: CoQ10 and N-Acetyl Cysteine. I started taking 4 CoQ10 (100 mg capsules) and 4 NAC (500 mg capsules) in the morning. I usually take the NAC once or twice again during the day. They did not stop my Acid Reflux, but they did greatly reduce my asthma symptoms. For real.
I ran out of the very expensive CoQ10 once, so I bought a less expensive brand at my local mega-market (yes, that one), which worked just as well.
During the 3 months that I've been taking these two remedies, I've only used my nebulizer once (before, I used it 4 times/day), and my inhalers approximately 4 times. I haven't used inhalers in about 3 weeks. That is progress.
I'm not touting these supplements as a cure, because I have to keep taking them to get the benefits. That's fine with me. Every day, I'm shocked and delighted to be breathing freely!

So after two years I have found a few things that work. Every morning before I eat or drink anything else I have a cup of really hot, strong, organic black coffee from our french press. This seems to break up everything that has settled in my lungs while I was sleeping. Cutting out dairy really helps but I tend not to follow my own advice on that. Throughout the day I drink at least two glasses of water with 1-2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar in them. I notice my asthma is way better on days when I spend time outdoors, at least open your windows. I moved from Portland to the Cascade mountain range and that helped imennsley within two months. And Yoga helps so much too, especially the warrior two position. I do steam inhalation over a pot of boiling water for 3-5 min. Befor bed everynight... This makes my skin look great too.
Two years after having horrible bronchitus I have went from taking my inhaler twice a day to taking it maybe once a week. I'm starting on organic virgin coconut oil so I'm excited to see more positive changes. ACV also cures my boyfriends windburn/rosecea he gets from working outside in the harsh elements. He drinks a glass with 2 tablespoons ACV after work everyday and it clears up within an hour. I LOVE THIS STUFF!

Started using the ACV with baking soda 2ce day. Coconut oil in morning coffee & all hot foods, Vit C with methylene blue 4-8 drops daily, MSM, Magnesium powder at night 1/2 tsp, live on foods low in sugar, use sea salt only, take kelp powder 1tbl daily & iodine drops 15 @ 3%, gave up dairy, tried for 3 months an inhalator with 3% peroxide, with the results all being positive and every week getting better.
It has been 1 year now since I went into the ER for emergency air. I only use the puffer approx. 3 times a month. Now I cough up once in a while these tiny round, formed, mucus balls (smaller than a BB) plus small strings of mucus about 3mm long and less than a pencil lead in width. After they are coughed out I can breath nearly perfect. If only I knew what to take to cleanse the lungs (aveoli) of these "plugs" Please help if any one knows how to cleanse the lungs of these mucus plugs forever. I still have the usual cracking & wheezing with these plugs which still greatly interfere with nightly sleep & oxygen intake. The huge amounts of former mucus is gone, it's only these tiny plugs to get rid of now. Then I will pronounce myself cured of Asthma!

I have heard that drinking half your weight in ounces of water per day and using sea salt is good for asthma, and the plugs were mentioned specifically. If I remember correctly, it is one teaspoon of salt per gallon of water you drink.

Karen: It sounds like the coconut oil is doing you good, since it contains the one specific fatty acid needed by the lung epithelia to make surfactant. It also sounds like you are being continuously reinfected or exposed to something nasty. Do your workplace, or home, or another place you frequent have any known mold problems?
Do you have old, worn carpet/rugs? Or a bed mattress that maybe you kept over from an old abode with problems?
You could try a 72-hour fast if you're well enough, to act as an elimination diet done all at once, where you try to find the offending food! If the lungs clear, then the problem is in the diet somewhere. Or you could just have a hypersensitivity (not quite an allergy) to something, even a toxin. If visiting friends for a few days at least, do the symptoms go away?
Lastly for a checklist for now, and only if you do have an allergy or hypersensitivity, many people
In the past 10-12 years have tried the products "yamoa powder" and/or "oralmat" to rebalance their immune systems to eliminate things from allergies to asthma!

Hello Karen, Hi Y'all; Karen, I see that you have made remarkable progress with your recovery from asthma and that you have great self discipline. It may be just that more time is the component in your procedure. It looks good that you are supplying the electrolytes, sodium, bicarbonates, chlorides, and magnesium. I am assuming that you also provide potassium in your diet with many vegetables and some fruits. (helps shortness of breath, air hunger). All the supplements that you have listed have helped many with asthma and excess mucous conditions. My husband, (asthma 14 years), has also been taking kelp and iodine(approx. 5mgs iodine) for 1 month, and has this week noticed a reduction in morning mucous, reduction of allergy to pets, less eye irritation, decreased need for afternoon coffee, and a reduced need for his dilator. Here are suggestions that may be favorable to you: good digestible protein, good B-complex, extra B-12 (sublingual methyl type), and, a nice pat of butter. (good source of cholesterol and saturated fat for production of anti-inflammatory hormones). Garlic, ginger, and horseradish are powerful for promoting easy breathing. Thank You, Connie

Ron, sorry to hear about your troubles..especially the ER visits!! I have had asthma since 27 and am now almost 50. As much as we like to rant against the drug companies (somewhat deserving) nothing has worked better then albuterol for an attack. It has saved my life. However, I have found lifestyle changes and a combination of various natural remedies to help. Of the greatest benefit for me was avoiding the triggers. A clean household, NO rugs or heavy fabrics, avoid forced air heating, good air circulation at night. I had a cat for twenty years and when she passed, I went from about 3 or 4 inhalers a year to just one.. A simple anti-inflammatory diet, high in vegetables, nuts, olive oil, minimal animal protein, can help. Of the herbs?
Turmeric, Ginger, Freeze Dried Stinging Nettle for the allergy season. Distilled omega oils have helped...I have exercise induced and yours may be different. I also do yoga which doesn't trigger an attack like running would. Like you, I have yet to find a "cure" but it is out there..so don't give up.
