I have had boils and severe acne since I was ten years old. I'm twenty five now. The boils spread from my face to my back and arms, and then to my thighs and other areas in that region. I was unable to find a remedy. It was very frustrating and painful. I discovered this website last year and have used several remedies successfully for other issues. One day I discovered the section on boils and saw that many people recomended turmeric. I started taking app. 7 capsules of turmeric every day. I purchased the capsules from Wal-Mart. They are very inexpensive. Within two weeks my face cleared up. It's been four weeks now and no new boils have appeared at any place on my body. I get compliments from friends and family asking what I did to clear my face up. The turmeric not only cleared up the boils but the acne as well.

Thank you for your wonderful website! I tried your tumeric cure on my 8 1/2 year old son, who just recently had school sores (impetigo), and then started to develop a boil (which is exactly what happened last time he had school sores at age 5 - he then went on to have boils for about 4 months). I gave him a tsp of tumeric in a chocolate milkshake 3 x per day for two days and the boil totally dried up and didn't get big or painful...and, no more boils have developed after 1 week! Awesome!!

I always believed in magic and you proved it today. I have had a big ugly and terribly painful boil on my stomach for a few days. I know this must be because of hair follicle infection as well as fat (yeah yeah, stomach with loads of fat, and hair on it too. hmmm not nice but real). It has been very painful and I am on mission in Nepal of all places. So I googled "boils" this morning to make sure they were not cancerous, and I fall on your website and the turmeric suggestion. Since I do happen to be in Nepal where everyone believes in ayurvedic medicine, I went to the hotel kitchen and asked for turmeric, and drank a full glass of water with a tablespoon of it. Yuck but the waiters were telling me that they drink this with milk to cure their sore throats. I went back to my room and forgot it although I smelled quite bad. 4 hours later, padam, the front of my pants got totally wet with blood and pus. The boil burst open and I burst out laughing. Your remedy WORKS; I thank you so much and will keep this website bookmarked for life.

I tried the TURMERIC remedy for boils about 4 days ago, initially with little hope it would work, but in a state of desperation, since this was my THIRD boil in less than 6 weeks, and I had 2 more starting! I went out as soon as I finished reading all of the testimonials on your site, and bought a bottle of Turmeric capsules from my local GNC. That night I took three 500mg caps with dinner, and another 4 capsules before going to bed. (If a teaspoon is good, a tablespoon is better!) The next morning the boil on my stomach, which was a dark purple golf ball radiating excruciating pain the night before, was now a light purple golf ball that was starting to drain, and the pain had gone down by 80 to 90%!

In addition, one of the new boils that was just starting, (a tiny painful pimple,) started to heal, and the other one, slightly larger, while it didn't go away, it stopped growing, and with 72 hours it too drained (really like a normal pimple, only thicker discharge and more painful.)

It's now been about 4 days, and while the large boil is still draining (the core came out yesterday) and is still very tender, it is healing and no other boils are starting.

BUT! The big BONUS is this: The arthritis in my shoulder that I've been suffering with for the last year, is gone, and even more exciting, I have been dealing with Heal Spurs (Plantar Fasciitis) for about 2 years, and have been suffering TREMENDOUS pain in my foot, every day, all day.

Within 24 hours of taking the Turmeric, my feet have COMPLETELY stopped hurting!!!I plan to continue taking at least one capsule a day indefinitely as a preventative for recurring boils, and as an apparent remedy for my Heal Spurs!!! The real miracle here is that I don't even believe in natural remedies! Thanks so much for the great advice!!!

My friend shrimps in the gulf around Florida, both himself and many others on the boat keep developing huge boils on several parts of their bodies (forearms and legs mostly). They are convinced it's from the "fish" they handle. I've seen info online (very little) about sea water boils aka saltwater boils. Supposedly caused by the enclosed arms of the rubber coats and the large amounts of fish goo on the rubbers that come in contact with the skin at some point. In the case of shrimpers I also saw something that says they are caused from handling the sludge from the bottom that comes up in the nets with the catch. (A shrimper manually digs through all the seaweed and thus also comes into contact with the sludge out of the nets. )

I'm glad I found this, going to try the turmeric for him... He's been getting antibiotics for them but I'm a huge believer in staying natural and avoiding western medicine if you can, especially in the case of antibiotics which tend to have diminishing effect as the problem critters get immune to it. He believes same, he's into a lot of Chinese medicine but didn't know of anything for boils right off. Just an FYI: a historical fact to file away. Turmeric was used as a yellow die in the middle ages in Europe and probably other parts of the world as well. The spice came over the trading routes (I don't think it was ever cultivated anywhere in Europe). Due to the imported nature of turmeric it was as expensive if not more expensive, than the tyrian shelfish dyes (red, yellow, purple depending upon mordanting and if it was an exhaust dye), from the vicinity of Greece. So that... Ladies & gents, is why your skin goes yellow when you use it. I've had bad skin most of my life and allergies, especially sinus infections around weather change (summer to winter). I was using nettle for the sinuses but since someone figured out it's great for urinary tract issues the price of the tincture has gone from 3 bucks a bottle to 16 bucks a bottle in the US. I'm going to try out the turmeric myself. I can get a pound of powder on ebay for about 6 bucks plus shipping (sounds like a bargain but I'll check the local health food store first). Great site, glad I found it.

Turmeric is undoubtedly one of the aces in ayurvedic medicine. I've seen my grandmother & then mother using turmeric for variety of skin problems & wounds, trust me it does work immaterial of what this modern day medicine claims. For those who find ingesting turmeric really difficult can boil a spoonful of turmeric in a glass of milk (sugar to taste) and drink it. It tastes great, try it!

I had aches and pains and even chiropractics and acupuncture didn't relieve it. I took turmeric and it relieved the aches and pains (joints mostly) and also has cleared up a great deal of my "brain fog". It's been incredible.

Turmeric cure for bunion pain. Rub dried turmeric spice directly on the bunion for relief. You can also take turmeric pills internally to reduce inflammation but I have not tried that yet. It is a bit messy to rub it on so I do it over the bathroom sink and use a plastic glove so that my hand does not turn yellow. I need to reapply every few days to keep the pain away. It is an easy remedy. You can buy Turmeric cheaply in bulk at the health food stores or in the spice aisle of the grocery store.

Turmeric for Canker Sores/Cold Sores

Recently read in Rebecca Wood's "The New Whole Food Encyclopedia" about using turmeric for canker sores. I have low iron which occassionally gives me canker sores so I was searching for a home remedy. Take an 1/8 tsp. of turmeric and just enough drops of water to make a thick paste. Put directly on canker sore before bed and it will be gone by morning. Works well on cold sores too. Beware that turmeric will stain the skin a little (no big deal). I've been referring to this website for years and am glad that I have something to offer back.

In January I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst, in May with chronic polypoid cystitis of the bladder. I had general discomfort throughout my abdomen, flank and pelvic area- not sure what condition was causing what pain. Also had what I believe was arthritic pain in my hip. Only remedy for polypoid cystitis that doctor recommended was painkillers- I declined- or ibuprofen, which I did not want to take on a regular basis. Did some reserch on natural anti-inflammatories, and found lots of info on turmeric. I just went to my local drug store, and bought turmeric capsules, I think they are 500 mg. I started taking 2 pills 2x a day, for a couple of days, then decreased to 2 pills 1x a day, and after just a week or so I stopped taking them altogether. Amazing, but all of my aches and pains disappearred! No bladder pain- no flank pain- no hip pain! If I feel a twinge of anything, I take 2 turmeric, and that does the trick. I am hooked!

Turmeric for Leg Circulation

Turmeric and Black Pepper seems to make my legs feel warm and relaxed. I used to drink a lot of coffee and started getting leg cramps. Aspirin helped, but who wants to ingest aspirin all the time. I quit the coffee but my legs usually feel cold and tight. One day I made a curry type sauce for some rice and afterward noticed my legs felt much better. Here's what you do:

- Put 2 or 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil in a medium size kettle on low/medium heat (not hot - which could encourage the formation of cancerous substances in the oil/starch mix)
- Add 1 heaping tablespoon of peanut butter (get the kind with no mystery ingredients, just peanuts and salt..... Or use raw cashew butter.)
- Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric (non irradiated if you can find it)
- Add 1/2 teaspoon crushed black pepper
- Add 1/2 teaspoon curry powder (optional)
- Add 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (or fresh crushed garlic)
- Add 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- Mix well and let sit on the warm (not hot) burner for 5 minutes or so
- Add precooked cubed chicken and/or precooked brown rice
- Serve warm (that's right, not hot.)

Turmeric has been amazing at easing sinus congestion when I have a cold. I take 1 turmeric capsule every 5 hours when I get a cold and do this for 2 days or more, depending on how I feel. It keeps mucus production down to a minimum. I tell my family to take it but they just ignore me. Go figure!

Hi I'm a 61 year old nurse. I have just discovered the magic of Turmeric whilst in India. Use it as soon as cold symptoms arise you can quickly nip a cold.

For the onset of a sore throat, take 1/4 tsnp of organic Turmeric (no fillers) and swallow. Do not eat or drink for 20 min, repeat up to 3 x day until eased. Should only need to do it once or twice.

For a clear runny nose take 1/2 tspn in a glass of warm water 1/2 hour before meals 2x day for 2 days. It will dry the nose As a general tonic use as a condiment in cooking.

Thank you for this fantastic website. I have had the 'common cold' now for over two weeks and taking everything that the Dr ordered, I still couldn't get better. After taking 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder, 1/2 lemon and 1 tablespoon maple syrup, I'm well on my way to recovery. Slept all night for the first time last night and feel great today. Thank you once again for giving us the information on this wonderful herb.

Turmeric: An Indian friend of mine gave me a recipe for sore throat, colds, flu, sinusitis: Take about a teaspoonful of turmeric powder, a teaspoon full of grated fresh ginger (or equivalent of dried ginger powder), a pinch of ground black pepper, honey or sugar to taste, and put it into about half a cup of water and bring to a boil. Then add about half a cup of milk, heat to just below boiling point, and drink the mixture slowly, while hot. I also supplement this treatment by inhaling steam and keeping a hot water bottle on my head, throat or chest. I used to have colds that lasted two weeks; now I can get over them within three days. - Ellen
