WARNING!

[YEA]  12/31/2007: Vladimir from Montreal, Quebec, Canada writes: "Hi. I started taking Bentonite Clay after reading about it on the internet and especially on http://www.eytonsearth.org/ I don't know whether it is because of it or because of the other supplements I take but I am less constipated and sleep better. I also believe it contains many minerals and they're natural (not processed). I am taking a table spoon of a very dense Bentonite Clay and water solution every night before going to bed. I would recommend it. It would be also interesting to hear other people's experiences with Bentonite Clay."

This was to ruin my whole life and caused immediate gastritis and triggered rosacea/rhinophyma. The onset of syptoms were abrum, immediate and extremely severe. I now have blepharitis and meibominaitis as a result. I was very stupid and digesting this product has ruined my whole life. DO NOT TAKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
[YEA]  05/22/2008: Ken from Cendtnnial, Co. replies: "I used the Psyllium and Bentonite shakes With Paragone at the same time for colon cleanse for 3 mo. It was quite amazing. Although You must take Vitamins and Liquid minerals with it because it sucks everything out. Bentonite absorbs 90x it's weight in toxins. 2Tbs of Psy. and 1 Tbs of Bent. in 12oz. of water at bed time. No other medication or Vitamins within 2 hrs. before or after, since they won't be absorbed with the shake. Also you must take Acidophilus to replace the healthy bacteria in youe colon or you may have major problems. Neem oil may help the Rosacea."
06/30/2011: Clare from Uk replies: "I've started taking B&P shakes and think its making me a little constipated. Not badly but as its drawing out toxins, I don't want anything stuck there, if you know what I mean!

Joyce, I'd be interested to know how much you took. Everyone, I'd be interested to know just how much you should take, there's so many different 'recipes' around.

Also, did the bentonite actually CURE yr constipation? I've read it can cause it, what can you take to best alievate it? I've read on here about other constipation cures and started ACV just now so hopefully by tomorrow.... :)"

BODY MAGIC UNDERGARMENTS

10/26/2010: Joy from Miramar, Florida, Usa writes: "Two years ago a Friend in Atlanta told me of a girdle she said it worked like magic it flattens your stomach and corrects your posture. I was sold I paid $168.00 for the garment. Well I must confess it worked-I lost 5 inches off my waist and my stomach was flattened considerably.

However 2 months ago I started suffering with severe stomach cramps and pains. After I visited my doctor I was told I needed a colonoscopy that I had layers and layers of fecal matters plastered against the wall of my colon. I was puzzled I had a flat stomach and looked good. After several questions and answers between me and my doctor I finally told him it was not pushups that gave me my figure, it was the Body magic."

BREWERS YEAST, MAGNESIUM, ERYTHRITOL

YEA

[YEA]  09/10/2008: Nat from Brooklyn, NY writes: "Brewers yeast tablets and magnesium citrate, taken together with erythritol in water, is a combination that is helpful for stubborn problems with elimination.

On earthclinic there were many testimonials about using magnesium citrate for constipation. Although it is a good thing, many people might find that they need too much magnesium citrate. Taking the magnesium citrate with one half to one cup room temperature water (or hot water) that contains two or three or four teaspoons of erythritol can help one need less magnesium citrate. (Erythritol is a good tasting natural sugar substitute. The NOW Company and Organic Zero both sell erithritol.) Also, and even better, is taking the erythritol and water together with around four to ten Brewers Yeast tablets (Solgars sells Brewers Yeast tablets -- the tablets are much easier to take than the powder) twice a day in addition to the one or more magnesium citrate tablets. The brewers yeast might create some discomfort from gas in the beginning and so one might start off with less of the yeast tablets and increase their number slowly. Taking a sweet hot drink, with some spices in it, shortly after taking the yeast tablets, can often stop the intestinal discomfort. The combination of brewers yeast, magnesium citrate and erythritol in water, all taken at the same time, can often help even stubborn problems with elimination.

One should also eat a diet high in fiber containing foods such as fruits (grapes, papaya, also figs, raisins prunes stewed or soaked with olive oil or soaked overnight in plain water) vegetables (lettuce, escarole, hot sauerkraut, beets) whole grains, bran. One should also eat oily fish (recommended by Maimonides) and have a hot drink after meals.

Nat

P.S. In books on Yoga exercises, there are at times exercise recommendations that can help improve intestinal motility. Has anyone tried these exercises?"

COCONUT MILK AND GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES

[YEA]  07/12/2006: Marcel from Diamond Bar, CA writes: "I half cooked a bunch of leafy vegetables with coconut milk. Coconut milk adds flavor to my cooking. I added some fresh herbs like basil, ground pepper, garlic, and onion. I did not add salt as I stopped using it salt since 1980. When done, I ate it alone the whole day. In one day, I tripped to the bathroom 3 times and really did a good job on emptying my guts. My bowels looked greenish, long formed and at about 1 1/2 inch in diameter. The bowel was greenish because the digestion was fast and did not have a chance to change color to brownish. I felt good and light all day long. The green leafy vegetables can be Kale, spinach, water lily (kangkong). I will try other green vegetables with the coconut milk and see its effect."

ELIMINATE DAIRY

YEA

[YEA]  10/22/2011: Catrina from Waldorf, Maryland/usa writes: "Four weeks ago, I cut out all dairy substituting almond milk instead of cows milk and began eating a vegan diet. I have been having a bowel movement everyday with no straining! For 47 years, I suffered from chronic constipation, IBS, chronic pain and bloating. I've tried conventional and non-conventional remedies. I am writing to say I have found something that works. Try cutting out all milk products or items that contain diary and see if it makes a difference. In the beginning, as my body adjusted to my new diet, I had gas pains for about one and a half weeks. Three weeks ago, I began acupuncture treatments and after two sessions, my gas pains are gone and I am not as bloated. I have four more acupuncture sessions to go to complete the series, but I attribute the bowel movements to the lack of dairy in my diet."

ELIMINATE GLUTEN

[YEA]  03/11/2011: Denise from Tampa, Fl writes: "I have suffered chronic constipation for most of my life, but it became extreme about 4 years ago. My gastro Dr just gave me meds that kept me hovering around the toilet all morning. I used Mg capsules, which was better, but again, it was still not normal elimination. All I was doing was coping with the problem. Then I heard that my granddaughter (no blood relation) was diagnosed with celiac disease. Her main symptom was severe constipation. I decided to go gluten-free to see if it made a difference for me.

Within 2 days, my system started to work. It's been 3 wonderful weeks now, and I am trying hard not to shout it from the roof tops. But on here I know folks are desperate for an answer and a cure. So see if if works for you. The good thing is that the health food stores have a great variety of gluten-free products. I hope to learn to cook gluten-free when I have the time.

For the folks that find their answer in avoiding gluten - congrads! And to all the others still looking, I would also tell you to check out "upper cervical chiropractic" as that adjustment is supposed to help many with constipation (among a myriad of other problems. ) Good luck!"

ENEMA OR WHEATGRASS SMOOTHIE

YEA

[YEA]  02/01/2009: Jay from Altoona, FL-USA writes: "Constipation Relief: Go to a local pharmacy and purchase a twin pack of the Fleets Enema bottles. These bottles are reusable by screwing off the cap and filling the bottle 3/4 full of COOL tap water and filling the rest of the way with a high quality mineral oil or vegetable oil such as sesame or olive. You can then inject the oil and water into the rectum and in short order experience an easier bowel movement. An alternative is to blend about a cup of wheatgrass sprouts in a Vita-Mix Blender and make a green smoothie which you can drink and will almost surely relieve constipation. To research these recommendations Google:How to grow wheatgrass,Fleets Enemas, etc. Also read this monograph: http://www.rxmed.com/b.main/b2.pharmaceutical/b2.1.monographs/CPS- Monographs/CPS- (General Monographs- F)/FLEET ENEMA.html"

ERITHRYTOL

07/10/2008: Nat from Brooklyln, New York writes: "Erithrytol (a natural sugar substitute) for constipation:
Erithrytol (from both from Organic Zero company and Now company, one tablespoon can be taken from each type) , taken in coffee instead of sugar (it is less sweet so around one and a half to two tablespoons might be recommended) helps for constipation problems. If a person is taking magnesium citrate he will find that he needs less of the magnesium citrate.

In another entry I may have mentioned taking the magnesium citrate in the morning with warm water. I just learned that the great physician Maimonides* wrote that drinking lukewarm water is not healthy. He wrote this either in Galen's name or from his own studies. If one takes the magnesium in warm water, the water should be rather hot and not lukewarm. It might be better, in any case, for a person not to drink too much water in the morning, because if he gets filled up on water he may be unable to eat early enough. (It is not healthy to eat right after drinking water.) The Talmud writes that one should eat * "morning bread" for it helps the liver and thereby heals very many illnesses. This "morning bread" should be something light and not a full meal.

FLAX SEEDS, APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, DATES

[YEA]  06/17/2009: Ali from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada writes: "I found the following mixture worked well for my constipation problem, hope it will help others. Bring two cups of water to a boil and add two tablespoons of flax seeds, continue to boil for fifteen minutes, then strain off the flax seeds and discard seeds ,allow mixture to cool somewhat, it will be jelly like, add one teaspoon of apple cider vineger and stir. Drink one cup of this on an empty stomach one to two times a day depending on severity of constipation. If very constipated, be sure to also drink three cups of hot water through out the day. I have found a more pleasent remedy for mild constipation or just to stay regular try the following: Boil one cup of water and add six dates, allow to soak, when cool, drink the liquid and eat the dates. Take at bedtime for best results. Good health to all and A HUGE THANK YOU TO EARTH CLINIC."

[YEA]  02/05/2010: Corinna from London, England writes: "I've had so much benefit from this website that it is now time to contribute myself. I was severely constipated as a teenager. I went to the toilet once or twice a week at the most. As an adult I changed my diet to include more fibre and the problem corrected itself. However, after the age of 40 it crept back despite being on a rigorous healthy diet. I tried many things but the thing that helps reliably is 2 tablespoons of golden flaxseed a day. I simply mix the flaxseed into my food at night."

09/15/2010: Keith from Richmond, Virginia replies: "I've been taking Antibiotics for the last month and its been killing the bad bacteria and good bacteria in my stomach. This has made for bad constipation. I finally out about found whole Golden Flaxseed. Its works quite well and is cheap to buy. My local health store sells GOLDEN WHOLE Flaxseed for $1.99-$2.49 LB. At 4 TSBP's day = 11 days servings per LB. I take 2 TBSP in morning with juice, 2 at night.

Also, Prune Juice - Not from Concentrate - with Pulp, has worked for well me. I found it just before Flaxseed. Its not as complete a bowel movement as Flaxseed but its worked very well and quickly where other supplements did not. I had 4-6 BM's first day just from the PJ.

Curezone dot com posts:
1) "The very best way I know to induce regular bowel movements - at least two every day - is by eating 4 TBSP's of fresh-ground, organic flaxseed. You must grind it yourself, and then add it to juice or food. Flaxseed oil does not work nearly as well. I've recommended this solution to dozens of constipated friends. And so far, ALL of them became VERY regular within 36 hours. "

2) "You want golden, organic flaxseed, NOT the dark-colored seeds that some stores sell. Don't buy it already ground. Flaxseed loses much of its nutritive power if it has been sitting around for awhile. "

3) "As of 3 weeks ago, I began using ground flax seed and the change from the prune juice is mind boggling. I'm having regular movements, several times a day (avg 5 or so) and for the first time in nearly a year, I'm feeling "clean", like I don't have waste within me. I don't have the urgent feeling that prune juice would induce and I just feel "normal" again. It's great. It only took half a day for the flax seed to take effect for me.

Taking Owen's advice, I've purchased golden organic flax seed and a coffee grinder. Every day, I take two ground tablespoons in the morning with some cranberry juice for a mini breakfast and then three more tablespoons at night, a bit before bed. I also drink a lot of water throughout the day (10 glasses at the very least) as that is essential to regular bowel movements as well as good health in general. I've found that ground flax seed with just water is bad tasting but when mixed with a fruit juice, it takes on a nutty flavour, which I like very much."

10/17/2010: Keith from Richmond, Virginia replies: "I wanted to add to my review of the Ground Flaxseed & Prune Juice remedy. First, I had SEVERE constipation because of the antibiotics I was taking 2x day. I found the Flaxseed/Prune Juice only worked 1/3 to 1/2 the time and just a small 1-2 bowel movements from it. At first, it worked great, but after 2-3 times not. What I did find that worked was a suggestion from my Grandma that the Hospital gave her. This has worked *every* time for me and usually within 4-5 hours (sometimes 2 hours). 2 ounces Apple juice, 2 ounces Prune Juice, 2 ounces Milk of Magnesia (I used a generic brand at a well known chain store - much cheaper). Mix together and drink and the taste is OK."
