Multiple Cures

I am 53 y/o and tried Turmeric to lose weight and found it has many AMAZING side effects. I have had horrible irritable bowel since I was 7 y/o. I mean horrible. It will bring me to my knees and make me throw up, forcing me to choose which end should be aimed at the toilet. The Turmeric not only assisted in losing weight but stopped my irritable bowel/spastic colitis DEAD IN ITS TRACKS - NONE. I had never experienced a day without pain in my colon. OMG it was amazing.

Anyway, I have a 18y/o Border Collie that has a fatty tumor on his side that is so bad it is making him fall from the extra weight on that side and of course the pain from arthritis/old age. I have checked with 3 vets with no good solutions because of his age, no one wants to perform surgery.

Well, I thought, if Turmeric breaks down fat why not try it on Murphy. So, I looked up on the web if Turmeric was ok for dogs. It was ok but recommended a certain type of Turmeric. I compared the recommended Turmeric online to the type I had purchased. It was the same kind of Turmeric. Great! I researched online for the best Turmeric and I came up with, Curcumin C3 (Turmeric) w/ Bioperine - 2,000 % More Bioavailable 500mg, as the best on the market for Bioavailable for best utilization in body.

My point is maybe the Turmeric would help your doggie with his tummy issues?

Turmeric helped also my arthritis pain, my irritable bowl, brain function, mood and over all pain. It has been identified to be an Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Antioxidant, reduce risk for heart disease, cancer, metabolic syndromes, Alzheimer's and various degenerative conditions as well as improved Brain Function and a Lower Risk of Brain Diseases and a Benefit Against Depression.

I am sold. It has made me feel so much better and Murphy seems to move better and happier. The cheapest place I have found the Turmeric was Amazon. The brand I listed above was what I thought was best after my days of researching it.

Good Luck and I hope it makes Doggie better!

Bunions

Turmeric cure for bunion pain. Rub dried turmeric spice directly on the bunion for relief. You can also take turmeric pills internally to reduce inflammation but I have not tried that yet. It is a bit messy to rub it on so I do it over the bathroom sink and use a plastic glove so that my hand does not turn yellow. I need to reapply every few days to keep the pain away. It is an easy remedy. You can buy Turmeric cheaply in bulk at the health food stores or in the spice aisle of the grocery store.

Diarrhea

My mother used to grind to paste a one inch piece of raw or dried turmeric on the grinding stone, dilute it with 2 cups water, add a pinch of salt and boil the mixture thoroughly till it was reduced to 1 cup. The mixture was allowed to stand for the sediment to settle. The clear solution from the top was to be taken while still warm to stop diarrhea due to food poisoning. Turmeric is a mild antiseptic.

It really works! After trying everything I could get my hands on, and six days of constant diarrhea, I tried the turmeric - and within hours I am back on track. Thanks for saving me the Doctor bills. I used one teaspoon in an 8 oz glass of warm water. Had to hold my nose to get it down but it was worth it.

Diarrhea

I should've written this earlier, but just been busy... which is a testament to its success.

The only thing I can think of is that I ate some bad (very bad soup) for dinner on January 31st (2008). Later that evening I started having bad diarrhea. Liquid coming out of me from the wrong place. I've had diarrhea before, but this stuff was different. I nearly drank a whole bottle of Pepto (large) and NOTHING changed. I went to the bathroom a lot! I was getting raw... I had completely forgotten about this website.

Last year I came here to cure myself from a kidney stone (lemon - olive oil) and it worked. But re-finding this place was such a pain. I had a bookmark crash in mid January (long story).

I read the testimonies for both the Apple Cider Vinegar and Turmeric. I went with the latter. To be honest I don't like the smell of vinegar. I wouldn't be able to keep that down. I bought my Turmeric from Stater Bros.; McCormic brand for about five bucks.

Okay. I know I messed up here, but be warned. This cocktail is bitter as hell. I actually spit out part of it, which looked like I had vomited on my shirt. Which I suppose isn't too far off. I'm so gald I only had to take this once. I don't want to do this again anytime soon. This happened on February 3rd.

As I wrote, I had been looking at the Apple Cider Vinegar cure too. I ended up messing the measurements. I was suppose to take one teaspool NOT one tablespoon with a warm glass of water. That got me real paranoid.

I felt the results within four hours. I went less and more... firm. By that evening I was back to normal. Let me clear that; I was releasing something that was far solid that didn't require me to to visit the bowel every thirty - forty minutes.

I'm back to my old self now. This stuff works! I'm so glad I re-bookmarked this wonderous place. Dudes you saved my rear, quite literally, especially since that afternoon (Jan 31st) I had a root canal. Believe me, I didn't need that grief. Thanks!

EC: Recipe: 1 tsp of turmeric in a glass of warm water cures loose stools. Take this only once a day.

re: Turmeric. Works like a charm. The only downside is trying to drink it in warm milk. THe taste is too strong!!! Thinking of buying capsules and just eating them 2x! My bones feel fluid and oiled :) MRSA boils gone (couldn't believe I've been on Septra DS twice in a span of short periods of time). My immune seems to be up. Next step is to do a liver and gall bladder cleanse; then oil pulling and stick to some form of a modified vegan diet (with fish)! Happy 2008 to all coz i have a good feeling :)

I am a true believer that every illness has a cure in nature without being tampered with, but I have never heard of turmeric to cure coughs and sinuses.Since I found your website by sheer coincidence, while searching for a natural remedy for my wheezing cough and river-running nose, I thought I'd give turmeric a try( 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp honey with 1 cup of warm milk)VIOLA! I could breathe again. Thank You So Much EC, you're a life saver.

Wounds

I've had great success with turmeric to stop wounds from bleeding. If you catch a slice by the kitchen knife quick enough, the blood will coagulate behind a layer of turmeric. I also add turmeric to a warm water soak with sea salt or epsom salt to draw out infection/inflammation from wounds for my family. I treated our dog's copper head bite with a turmeric poultice. Her leg was swollen and the skin around the 2 puncture wounds was necrotic and oozing and after many soaks and poultices, it healed leaving no scar.

Diarrhea

I had the worst case of diarrhea I'd ever experienced, and not sure of the cause -- 48 hours of running to the bathroom every 15 to 30 minutes. I wanted to try a natural cure before resorting to medication, but none of the "cures" I'd read were feasible. I found this site and read the advice to try 1 tsp. of turmeric spice in a glass of warm water (only once a day) and tried it. I could feel my stomach settling down as I slowly downed the drink. For the rest of that evening until the morning I was able to rest and not go to the bathroom at all. In the morning I had some loose stools again but not as bad as they had been. I waited a little while until just before I was set to go on a long drive and then took my 2nd day's dose. That was about 10 hours ago and I haven't had any bowel problems since. I'm still amazed at how effective this was.

I was suffering from such a bad stomach virus for 10 days. I must have been going between 10 and 20 times a day. I was at the end of my rope because immodium and pepto did not help at all. And then i found your website. I can't believe the results of taking 2 doses of turmeric a day have done. I am a believer. i am going to get the apple cider vinegar to take daily to give me all of its wonderful benefits also. I love this website.

Fatty Liver

I have had Liver pain for last six years. Ultrasound showed I have fatty liver which is the side effect of Hormone replacement pills I was on for years. I tried milk thistle and couple other supplements they didn't help.I have started taking 1/4 of tsp of turmeric powder with oil or peanut butter. My triglyceride and liver enzymes showed normal in last two blood tests. After years of suffering, I finally feel relief. However, turmeric made my blood pressure drop so now I take it cautiously. Turmeric is apparently absorbed better by our body if taken with oil and black pepper and it also brings down your sugar level and is blood thinner too. I suggest do your own research.

Turmeric is supposed to reduce inflammation. I don't understand why it would cause bleeding. When my fingers cracked and were very sore from eating warmed left-over beef, turmeric reduced the inflammation and soreness on ingestion.

In the Nutrition Almanac ginger is also reported to reduce inflammation and is listed as an antibiotic. Gnger also ranks high in anticancer activity. Cayenne will stop bleeding. I would try mixing the two. Maybe 1/4 tsp. ginger to 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper every 3 or 4 hrs. in about 1/3 C water. Just a guess...

I have mixed turmeric and cayenne pepper, depending on what is going on with me at the time. Everyone responds differently.

Wishing you the best...

It could be from the capsules. Open the capsules, sprinkle on food and take powdered ginger with it. They are both anti-inflammatory spices and the Nutrition Almanac reports ginger contains an antidepressant ingredient that may help.

Homemade Turmeric Extract
Posted by Rsw (Oh) on 10/28/2017

After many years of reading Mama to Many's suggestions for making homemade extracts, I decided to give it a try. I bought turmeric root from the local health food store, washed it (did not peel, as was suggested online) and put it through my salad shooter to grate it. I added a little more than a tablespoon of black peppercorns to the mix. A little over a cup of turmeric was then covered with two cups of 40% vodka. I made it on October 1, and have been shaking it almost daily.

My question is, how long before I strain it into a bottle, and how clear does the liquid have to be to prevent mold growth? (although the vodka may take care of that! ). Do I also need to put it through a coffee filter after the white cloth? I imagine I should put it in a small amount of water before drinking a dropperful, as I do with the HerbPharm I bought? Is it OK to keep it unrefrigerated in a dark place? Thank you! Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you, MTM! I doubt that I would ever have tried this if you hadn't mentioned your homemade tinctures on Earth Clinic! It is looking fairly dark, so I am telling myself it will be nice and strong. I think the dark brown glass container would be good for the long term, so I will use that. I really appreciate your experienced tips, because I didn't want to ruin it on the homestretch! I will strain it through the cloth and a coffee filter, as you advise. I think I will wait until the end of the week, so it will be almost five weeks since it was started. I will post my reaction to it after I take it for a couple of weeks. You are such a blessing to all of us on this site! Thank you so much.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I've been taking 500 mg of Turmeric-Curcumin 500 mg a day capsule, the brand is available over the counter. It helped with arthritis pain in my knee within a week. But by the third week, I was starting to feel, at certain times of the time, a little weird. Similar to the overall feeling I felt when I was on Zoloft for several months about twenty years ago. Not dizzy exactly. A little pumped up. Not in a dangerous way, and it continued as I kept taking the same dosage for three more days - I have now decided to quit taking Turmeric-curcumin, which I regret because it was helping with the inflammation. I don't know why it did this. My family doctor okayed me taking it and said it couldn't hurt me since it's all natural. Any ideas why I felt this way? The effect wears off by late afternoon. I'm definitely going to stop taking it because I don't like feeling out of myself. Not dizzy exactly. Not dangerous. Just a little off.

Could be that a filler in the turmeric capsule is an issue, or pesticides in the turmeric.

Consider adding organic turmeric to some milk instead.

I am sorry this is a late reply. I just saw this post.

You could be having a problem with the capsule itself. In production of the capsules a manufactured glutamic acid is created and another source of hidden MSG.

I cannot ingest capsules because of that. I open them and pour out contents. If I take a gel cap I bite it to remove contents.
