Homemade Tooth Products for Receding Gums

If you have periodontal gum disease, including receding gums, there are many dental options and over the counter products designed for your problems. However, dental work is often very expensive. Over the counter products often contain ingredients that cause more harm than good.

Making a few products at home is relatively inexpensive but can bring great results! You can also avoid harmful ingredients like fluoride, artificial sweeteners, and sodium laureth sulfate when you make your own tooth products.

Homemade Tooth Paste

  • 1 Tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 Tablespoon baking soda
  • 2 drops peppermint essential oil (optional)
  • Mix ingredients together and use as you would store bought toothpaste.

Homemade Tooth Powder

  • 1 Tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 Tablespoon diatomaceous earth
  • 2 drops peppermint essential oil
  • Blend together in a blender.
  • Dip wet toothbrush in tooth powder and brush gently.

Have you tried any homemade tooth products for your gum disease? We would love to hear about your recipe!

Crush B100 to a powder, 1 pill. Put in small cup. Cotton swab your gums before going to bed or twice a day, also after brushing.

I have reversed the periodontal disease that was destroying my gums by stopping using any toothpaste at all and by using a very soft tooth brush and taking a lot of time to get my teeth clean. Most toothpastes contain a laurel sulphate which actually irritates skin. It took a few weeks to really make a difference, but now I have no bleeding gums, no swelling. Also I don't eat sugar or carbohydrates, but I had been avoiding them for years without any change to my gums. Also I have started to soak and sprout any nuts, seeds or legumes before eating to remove phytates which prevent your body absorbing the minerals etc it needs.

I read with interest the post on homemade vitamin paste. I too have had receeding gums for a long time. I already had most of the ingredients except for vit C. Mine, however, are gelcaps since my stomache acid is low. Mixed together the following:

  • Mega B-Complex - 1 gelcap
  • Super Calcium-Magnesium w/800 IU Vit D - 1 gelcap
  • Fish, Flaxseed, Borage Oil, Omega 3, 6, 9 - 1 gelcap
  • Bee Propolis Extract - 500 mg - 1 capsule

I emptied the 3 gelcaps into an egg cup, broke open the capsule and added to the mixture, mixing well.

I put this mixture on my teeth every night before bed and leave it on all night. I cannot tell you enough how pleased I am with the results. My gums are regrowing although slowly and my teeth seem to be remineralizing. They have looked pretty bad over the last few years. Now they are almost white. I would say a very light beige. I could see the results in the teeth the first week.

Bev, where did you read the post about the homemade vitamin paste? Do you swallow the vitamin C separately or add it into the paste? How much vitamin C do you take? Also, please tell me what kind of toothpaste you use in the morning--regular store bought or homemade or anything special about the morning toothpaste that you use? Please help... I have an ongoing problem with TMJ causing misaligned teeth adversely resulting in receding gums too. Your help is very appreciated.

Hi Joy; I had everything from the post except Vit C. It was posted several weeks ago from another writer. I use liquid capsules and apply at night with a plastic toothpick. I also brush with peroxide (I spray my toothbrush) and then dip in baking soda. I would also recommend taking Magnesium everyday. Hope this helps.

Editor's Choice

I am 65, been having receding gums since i was 40. did try dentist treatment and was very painful and expensive. gave up for years but magically found the solution. Doctors are going to be very angry at me for making them loose all that treatment money, but I love to help. It is so simple it I wonder why no one found it before me... I crush with a pestle and mortar vitamin c, B1, niacin (B3), B complex and calmag. I put the mixture in an air tight small bottle (to keep it from oxidating) and store it in the fridge. Every 24 hour I spill 1/10 teaspoon out and rub it between my teeth and gums. I did this for 2 weeks and my gums look like when they were in their twenties!!! Try it and post. BEST 2 U.

When I lived in Russia, a gauze saturated in vitamin C was wrapped around flexible metal plate with electrode attached and placed around gums. If one had a tooth abscess then gauze was saturated with a medicine. This type of treatment is customary in Russia and have been used for 70 plus years. And not just for teeth, but many other body's ailments. Healing power of light, sound, electricity, water, etc.is traditionally used in healthcare in Russia. There are so many devices were invented that capture and utilize healing power of nature.

Hi there. Can you explain this more clearly. Are you using tablets to crush? How many of each? What concentration? Do you rub it in and leave it? Thanks.

Hi, can you give me more details. Did you use like coconut oil? How long did you keep it on your teeth and gums. I just applied it for the first time and wanted more info. Thanks, Pete M.

Hi,

Do you leave this on your gum line for a while then wash it off?

Thank you for your time.

Receding Gums: My husband all of a sudden had issues with this. It came following our learning he had a allergy to floruride(Thanks to Earthclinic for helping us find that out!!! ). We made our own toothpaste of Coconut oil and baking soda. He began rinsing his mouth with aloe vera juice nightly just before bed. Within days his gums began healing and after a couple of weeks are back to normal!!

Leah, here is one recipe for homemade toothpaste:

  • 2 Tablespoons baking soda
  • 2 Tablespoons virgin/unrefined coconut oil
  • Mix with fork until you have a pasty texture

Optional: Add an essential oil (approximately 20 drops) for flavor. I use cinnamon but this is personal preference.

This is, by far, the best toothpaste I've ever used.

Good luck!

The Aloe Vera Juice, would this be the juice you can drink? I purchased some from grocery store. So he would just rinse and spit it out??
Thanks.
