Hey Ted, I started having scalp problems when I was 15 years old. I had nasty pustules on my head, thinning hair along with a itchy and flaky beard when I hit 18 years old. The doctors didnt help much. Seems like pills are their answers to everything. Anyways, I am 26 now and I read your post several months back. I tried the ACV & H202 with the tea tree oil and lavendar and my hair hasn't looked this good since it started falling out. My scalp is fine and I see hair growning on my scalp in places that use to be really thin. Now it seems like it has been at a stand still and sometimes it looks just a tad bit worst. I am thinking it must be something that I am eating, something extra that I need to take or both. Do you have any suggestions for me? My scalp looks 60 percent better and I need something to help it get over the hump. By the way, sometimes the skin on the side of my nose gets dry and cracky. That's when I notice my hair getting thin again. Maybe the two are linked. Please help! Thanks!

I USED THE 20 MULE TEAM BORAX LAST NIGHT AS A SHAMPOO ... IT IS THE BEST MY HEAD HAS FELT IN 32 YEARS. AND NOW I KNOW TRICHOTILLOMANIA IS NOT A CONDITION OF BAD NERVES, I BELIEVE THIS IS EITHER A MITE UNDER THE SKIN OR A FUNGUS. AND DR.S WONT HELP .THEY DON'T WANT TO ADMIT THERE IS NO CURE. THEY JUST KEEP YOU COMING BACK AND SHOVING MORE MONEY IN THEIR POCKETS.I HAVE 5 SORES ON MY HEAD,4 OF THEM HAVE BEEN THER FOR 2 OR MORE YEARS 1 OF THEM FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR THEIR ALWAYS SORE OR HALF HEALD AND SORE UNDERNEITH. AFTER USING THE BORAX LAST NIGHT. 3 ARE HEALED AND NO SORENESS UNDER NEITH, AND 2 ARE VERY SLIGHTLY SORE THIS MORNING. MY SCALP FEALS LIKE SCALP AND MY HAIR FEELS LIKE NORMAL HAIR ...... ABSOLUTLY AMAZING. IF IT IS A MITE.. I'M GETTING RID OF ALL PILLOWS . I JUST RECENTLY MOVED HERE AND AND BOUGHT A WATER BED, SO THAT IS NEW AND NO MITES IN THE MATTRESS. I WILL CONTINUE THIS TREATMENT ON MON .WED AND FRI. FOR A MONTH AND THEN GO TO THE ACV AND PEROXIDE IF NEEDED.I HAVE ALSOUSED TEA TREE SHAMPOO FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS IT HAS HELPED BUT NOT CURED.. I DID USE TEA TREE OIL STRAIGHT ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO 1 TIME MAYBE THAT DID HELP SOME. BUT NOTHING HAS WORKED LIKE THE 20 MULE TEAM BORAX AND MY HAIR IS SOFT AND SHINING AND MANAGEABLE TODAY FIRST TIME IN 32 YEARS, AMAZING

to Dick -

That's awesome! Make sure that the canned beets you are consuming daily are not packaged in a can which contains BPAs or other synthetic chemical liners & that the ingredients do not list preservatives.

You could probably find an organic farm local to you that grows beets which would be cheap and you would know exactly what your consuming. :)

Borax

What a wonderful site! I find so much honest mindblowing information on this site. I already know quite a bit about herbs and vitamins but I am really being educated to some incredible healing therapies here. I have fallen in love with borax. I have had an itchy scalp for 10 years. When I say that it sounds pretty benign, but it has dominated my existence, alternating between itching, inflammation, tenderness, prickliness, numbness and downright pain. I noticed that it had a hormonal connection, but because my head "talked to me" with all of the above symptoms, I touched and tugged on individual hairs to calm my head. Of course I knew it wasn't working and it only made matters worse, but there was a "reaction".

I have purchased rogaine, shampoos, conditioners, pills, anti itch sprays, etc and the list goes on. I happened on a diatribe on curezone, and they mentioned borax and also earthclinic. so I went to this site and found a ton of amazing information. Of course the light bulb goes off. The next morning I mixed some borax in water and poured it on my scalp. Small amounts of tingling pain. My hair felt silky but stronger and thicker. My hair looked fantastic, but the other noticeable thing was that my scalp didn't itch. Later on in the day, there were tiny scabs where the small bumps would show up.(I know I didn't mention that earlier, but neither did I mention that my hair didn't feel like it was firmly connected into my scalp either) I knew that I had found a solution to what has been driving me crazy.

I really wonder if the people who pull out their hair are reacting to some of the same conditions that I have been experiencing for so long. I no longer feel like I need to "play" with my hair. when I say play with it, I actually mean that I was pulling a lot of it out. I was not trying to pull it out, but I felt that if I just ran my nail down the length of it that I would somehow "fix the individual hairs, and sometimes they would come out, because as I said they were not firmly rooted into my scalp. I take away the symptoms with the borax and I no longer need to touch the hair. I think they call it tricholotomia or something like that.

I have a question and I don't know if anyone has an answer, but my brother in law has a bone chip on his ankle. He has had surgery once to "fix" it but it didn't work, the pain is back, and he is once again, walking with a cane. I don't know how big this bone chip is, but is there anyway to either dissolve the bone chip, or to get the bone chip to attach to his ankle?

anyway, I am glad this site is out here in cyberspace where people can get real and helpful information and not have to pay 150.00 for either a non answer from a doctor ( I brought my scalp problem up 3 times with 2 different doctors and they would look at my scalp and offer zero advice or help) or an answer which doesn't do crap or hurts you. I don't know about you but when I pay a doctor 150.00 and they either don't answer my question or whatever they do doesn't work, I think I should get my money back. Speaking of doctors, I went to one once because I was sick two days before I was going on a long vacation. I diagnosed myself and knew that I had rocky mountain fever. My father in law had gone hunting and his wife cooked some of the meat that he brought back. They both had come down with it. I had heard my mother in law say how hard it was to diagnose. I had all the symptoms but I tend to get really gassy and nausous. I DID not want to be sick on christmas vacation around family.

I went to dr. before I left, explained what I had, symptoms, and why. He said absolutely nothing to me, gave me some anti nausea meds and sent me on my way. They did nothing. I got some charcoal pills before I left because the dr. hadn't helped at all. I spent 10 days in bend ore. sick as a dog, Toward the end I felt like my insides were starting to dissintegrate. I separated myself from everyone because of the terrible gas. I finally started to have diahhrea just before we left (I have always been constipated) It took us two days driving home in the snow. I went to a check medical as soon as I got home (different doctor) I told the doctor, I know I have rocky mountain fever, just give me the meds, you can run the tests but I can not live with this another day. He gave me the drugs. Two days later, they called to say indeed I had rocky mountain fever. I was so pissed at the other doctor for ruining my vacation. Of course this was about 17 years ago before wonderful access to web information. But that doctor was so arrogant he could not stand having a patient telling him what was wrong. Thank god for the second doctor because I was ready to kill myself by then rather than feel like my insides were literally pulling away from their internal walls, feeling constantly nauseated, but not being able to throw up. Sorry, I am still pretty angry about it and I have never called or said anything directly to that doctor. I simply never went to his office again. sincerely. me

I had the same scalp issues for about 4 years. I had tried everything multiple times without permanent relief. I started using "a horse" shampoo with Zinc daily. After using about 1.5 bottles (2 months of use) my scalp issues are totally gone and haven't returned with continued use of this shampoo.

Epsom salts will pull out infection from wounds in scalp infections. I mixed it about 1/2 cup of epsom salt to 1 quart of hot water.

Submerge infected area in solution 4 times a day. If unable to submerge area, just use washcloth to dip in solution and apply over infected are (hot compress method) 4 times a day. I have seen this cure infection after red streak was running up arm (indicative of blood poisoning). No antibiotics were needed. I have many times bathed in 1-2 cups epsom salts in hot bath when muscles or nerves said "help".You really feel relaxed.

I have also used a saturated solution of Apple Cider Vinegar and epsom salts to clear up deep infected ulcers in scalp; No antibiotics were needed. Swab ulcers.

Thank You so much. My 4 year old daughter (AA) developed folliculitus and all of the doctors treatments were worthless. She started loosing hair on the top of her head and pustules were all over. She also complained of her scalp hurting. I did a google search and found this site. Even after the first ACV & H202 tx I noticed improvement. I followed up with Tea Tree and Lav. oils nightly and once a week for two weeks I repeated the ACV & H202. She has no more pustules, they have all dried out. Plus she has no more pain. Her scalp looks 95% better. I am just waiting for a small patch of crust to fall off and a small patch of hair to grow back. I will continue the TT and Lav for a couple more weeks to make sure the infection completely gone. Thank god I found this site and that she has thick hair to hide the small patch.

I've had scalp psoraisis for almost 2 years now. I know it's genetic, stress-related, and food allergy related.

I had no insurance, I went to a dermatologist. Spent a good $90 for the visit and he spent 5 min with me and said yes, you have psoraisis. I already knew. He told me to get on Humira (never did because of the side effects) and I used the scalp oil he recommended and of course, steriod cream. Nothing helped.

I used OTC shampoos, nothing helped.

I know what the root causes are - food allergy, smoking, alcohol, caffeine, sugars, and stress are major triggers. I know what I can take as supplements to cure this.

However, after reading this remedy by TED.. I realized how common this is to everyone. And it's not just scalp psoraisis - its a fungal infection. My physician and dermatologist didn't even take the time to test my scalp for infection or refer me out to a nutritionist to help my diet. At least, I'm good at research on my own.

So, I've been using your remedy. First few days, just undiluted ACV for 30-1hr and shampoo out. Just tonight, I tried the ACV, Hydrogen Peroxide, Water mix. It works alot better - less inflammation.

I'm going to get some Tea Tree and Lavendar oil. I sell Nature's Sunshine so, I know the products are 100% pure. With the ACV, I use _____'s (with Mother) from Whole Foods Market.

Ted, I have alot of inflammation and redness on the top of my forehead from scratching too much.. Long ago. It's healing. I have lost some hair (where women normally lose hair. ) Will the tea tree and lavendar help reduce the infammation and grow hair back? So far it feels so much better. Thank you.

Someone posted a remedy for problems with the scalp here a few days ago. I am thinking of trying. Here is what I copied and saved in my remedies file:

  • I had the itching scalp, substantial thinning and some dandruff several years ago, and cleared it all up in two treatments. I used about 1/8 teaspoon of Tea Tree Oil and a few drops of lavender oil in 3 Tablespoons of sweet almond oil (you could use any carrier oil, I think). I parted my hair and poured it on my scalp all over and left it there for an hour, massaging it around with my fingertips some, before I showered it out. Whatever was wrong is gone, I have no itch and my hair came back thick

I, too, get eruptions on my scalp. I think it's fungus. I've been using turpentine on it. I usually dip a q tip into the turp and apply it to the spots but, sometimes, I can feel a spot coming on and then I smear it around. I had a fungus on my neck as a child (looked like I had a dirty neck) and it eventually went away on its own (my mom wouldn't apply the cream and I was only like 8 yrs old). Anyway, I see great results from the turp after several days of doing this. I put it on when I first get up and then, an hour or so later, take my shower and shampoo.

Holy cow I had to post a reply to you goodness gracious to her putting a lot of stuff on your head besides the burning in the peeling did all this stuff on your head work quickly? And was there like one simple tactic that work better than the others because frankly I don't really want the Arsenal that you have I'd like to just use whatever seemed to be the most potent and and and and and rewarding I guess I should say. I'm not itching I just have the really dry scalp it could be from the Nevada extreme hard water too much minerals but I've stripped my hair down and I did the T gel which seem to make it worse and I have like magic marker the fat kind little bald spots that are you know growing back slowly but still scaly dry so it's just going to get damaged in Fallout and if I don't do the T gel every single day and I don't take a shower or wash my hair the following day I literally like a scary amount of hair falls out so I don't know what the if I have and I'm not going to go to the dermatologist and get overcharged for prescription shampoo that's not going to work and then try another kind and constantly do the rinse and repeat game so out of all your stuff which one was most rewarding to get your hair to start growing back and these little patches to go away and yes I do have the weird painful lump area that is like enticing to pick especially for picker and it kind of hurt but those are actually going away with it shampoo. Now I just need my hair to stop falling out and bees little spiky spots to actually grow hairback with a quickness for I'm a natural blonde and we naturally have thin hair and don't mistake that for thin frail hair we can have a lot of thin hair and appear in sick but we still have actual thin strands dainty hair so it sucks to lose it cuz I need to actually take me feel like feel like you have thin limp hair and yeah it does a great deal of damage to your ego and mental state of feeling pretty. Sorry for the run on sentences using speak to text and making breakfast for my twins that are one-year-old which could also be while I'm losing my hair XOXO Sawyer

N: Boric Acid, Boron, and Borax are interchangeable substances but Borax is preferred for scalp conditions, however Boric Acid in small amounts added to shampoo would likely help.

Also, look for "medicated shampoo" at your local retail market, which would have a variety of medicinals for scalp.

    -ORH-

From a post you made a few days ago plus others going back many months, I must say again what appears to be even more Ascaris stages released from wherever they held up and come flooding by the thousands through the blood and giving signs of heart failure. I had a pretty bad surge on July 4th weekend, did the parasite treatments and recovered within hrs. This happened again a few days ago but not quite as severe (no heart pain, but increased blood pressure and pulse). So long as one doesn't have an adult Roundworm in the gut killing the juveniles is a matter of proper treatment & time.

Being near to earth as you are, a bucket of fresh Green Black Walnut Hulls shelled, crushed, and added to a hot bath would be a luxury most city folks couldn't acquire. You could also do some zapping during the bath to further improve the killing power.

    My thoughts.

I did the same thing as you guys....I used the selsun blue shampoo let it soak for a while and then wash it off. It would stop the itching for a while and then off we go again. In frustration, I went to my old friend Google (lol) for help. It was with interest that I read an article that said that sometimes a deficiency in B vitamins can cause this. So you guessed it.....I bought some and started using immediately. Don't know exactly when it happened but it was gone in I would say in a couple of days. I developed red bloches several places on my head inside my hair line, mainly on sides and front area. Some even appeared to look like ringworm but Derm Doctor said it was not ringworm. Used cortizone cream to control for awhile with several dandruff shampoos that did nothing to help. Then started using Selsun Blue Medicated and the rash cleared up quickly. It has not returned so I continue to use only Selsun Blue. You might want to try it.

Hello, I am having scalp infection with excessive hair fall from past 6 year due to which I have lost 50% of my hair from top. I came across this website last year and after going through several post, I used borax to wash my hair initially but that didn't helped me at all. So, I started using ACV diluted form on my hair. It didn't cured my hair fall and scalp infection entirely but helped at least 50%.

Few days ago, I thought to use TED's alkalizing remedy's of mixing 1/4 tb baking soda and 2 tbp of ACV in 1 cup of water. I waited till the bubbles gone off and then spray it on my hair this solution. My itching is reduced 95% and am seeing less oily hair and feel the mixtures has helped. I didn't feel the same when I used ACV.

But, I searched about this mixture I.e. baking soda and ACV over internet and found it's harmful to use. Even first applying baking soda and then rinse with ACV is not good. Could anybody help me whether its safe to use the mixture of ACV and Baking soda on hair? Does it damage the hair over a period of time if used daily? PLEASE HELP

    Hi Louwrence,

I know this solution is working but my concern is that if I use the combination of ACV + baking soda for prolonged time, then whether it will damage the scalp and hair and cause excessive hairfall further? I am not seeing hairfall as of now but I read over internet that if used this combination then it damage the scalp and one will see the impact of it after a month of so. Because scalp ph is slighlty acidic 4.5 - 6 and ACV + baking soda combination make scalp ph to 7.

As mentioned by Cat, Even I am seeing now more hair in the drain when I am mixing ACV + baking soda from past 2 days. I think I will try to use them separately and will observe results. If that also causes problem and hair loss then I'll go back to only using diluted ACV.

The only issue using diluted ACV on my scalp is that it doesn't clear dead skin on my scalp properly and produce more oil. But it doesn't cause hair fall much.

Hi, 8 months ago I went to a forest hotel and wore a helmet for one of the activities, once on I realised the helmet absolutely stunk but I was already on the equipment so just thought I'd wash my hair once finished and thought no more of it....... Until 2 days after washing I could smell that funky awful smell, it has been like this ever since. I've tried nizoral, hibiclense, dial antibacterial, Jason dandruff, nothing works. Please help me as I am really depressed because of it. Valentina

Try washing your hair AND the inside of the helmet with white vinegar.

Valentina, Makes me wonder if it is some kind of fungal thing. I would try a shampoo with tea tree oil in it, or just mix tea tree essential oil with extra virgin coconut oil and massage into your scalp and hair. (This would be messier, but a stronger solution. ) Let it sit for 10 minutes or so before washing it out. I would do that every day for 10 days. Charcoal is great for odor and toxins, but so very messy to use in your hair... It wouldn't hurt to take charcoal tablets internally (4 tablets 2-3 times a day for a few weeks. ) Don't take charcoal near the time you take any medications as it will absorb them. A probiotic internally, would be a good supplement to the above.

    Hope this helps.

My question would be, are you the only one that smells the smelly scalp? or do others notice it too?

Scalp sores, bumps and itching: I too have had problems with this condition. I purchased the Borax, peroxide and dish detergent put in small bowl mix to a runny consistancy, wet my hair then, slathered the mixture on my head while in shower(don't get hair wet).

After bathing, I then rubbed mixture like shampoo into hair/scalp rince complety. I woke up this A.M. and no itch, bumps reduced in size and open spots were closed with scabs. I will do this 2-3 times a week and I believe this will end my scalp problem. Thanks for the heads up. (no pun intended).

I need help, my scalp is slowing but surely balding, lately there are sores that present with pus. I have had this problem for about 6 years now and I am getting exasperated. Now I can only wear wigs. The bold patches have come close to the forehead.

After visiting many skin specialists, some of whom thought it was a genetic problem, two of them finally believe it is a fungal infection. I am currently taking grisofulvin, so far 3 weeks.

Please, if you know of any solution, I will be really greaful. Thanks. Carol.

Hi, I had the same problem from past 6 years. I found this site and gone through several feedback and post of TED and Bill. Doing so helped in my problem. I am not fully recovered but it certainly helped me with my condition. Please follow below procedure and let me know if this helps.

    1. Change your diet. Drink plenty of water, no sugar, no yeast food item, no fastfood etc, no fry food. This needs to be followed very strictly.
    2. Mix (1/4 tbsp for male or 1/8 tbsp for female) of borax in a water and drink throughout the day.
    3. Take 2 tablespoon ACV + (1/2 tablespoon baking soda for male or 1/4 tbsp for female). You will see bubble once you mix this. Let it settle and then mix 1 cup of water and drink it twice in day on empty stomach.
    4. Before taking shower add ACV + water in 1:2 ratio in a spray bottle. Apply it on scalp and let it sit for 30 min. Then wash the scalp with mild herbal shampoo.

Hope this help. Also, you need to be patience to see the results.

Hi Caroline! I would recommend using "Borax" to wash your hair with especially if it is a fungal infection. I use it in my bath as well as wash every part of my body with it. Including a douche for vaginitis! A cure all it is. There are a great deal of posts on here regarding it's uses. Drinking borax mixed with water and lemon help cleanse your body inside and out.

Just thought I'd add this for everyone here who is suffering with scalp issues. Look into: "How to eat for your blood type" by Dr. Adamo. (You can google this info online.) Find your personal food chart / for your blood type. We all have beneficial, neutral and avoid foods. This blood type chart has always helped me feel and look better. Another critical step: drink a healthy organic green vegetable drink every day. These drinks will help keep your PH levels in a alkaline state; and will significantly help your skin and system detox it self. For the last 2 weeks, my scalp really flared up on me. It was super irritated, red and itchy with hair fall. Kind of a miracle happened yesterday; after I drank my green drink. My scalp completely mellowed out within an hour. I'm not kidding. I was pretty happy about this and knew I should share what happened. Any good combo of organic veggie's will work and add these things if you'd like. My green drink consisted of:

Kale, 2 carrots, 3 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice, 1/2 of a cucumber, and a handfull of spinach.
( I added: 6 to 7 drops of pure oregano oil, heaping tsp. of tumeric powder, 1 tsp. of milk thistle powder and 1 tsp. of spirlina powder.

These drinks can be a bit strong at first, but I swear by them. I have seen how they have adjusted my Ph level into a alkaline state often, enough to know that this is a critical step in being healthy and helping your body defend against issues and immune weaknesses.

P.S. Oregano Oil, has some amazing healing properties. Research it .. and follow directions accordingly. It's powerful; so I would not over do it. Just use a few drops to start.

Wanted to give an update: I went to a dermatologist who said she can tell I'm having hair loss and my scalp is inflamed. She said there is no sign of infection what-so-ever and it's not alopecia. Which makes me think I have an internal problem of some sort. I've been rinsing my hair w/ACV everytime I wash it and green juicing. I've cut out most sugar. The burning and redness has gone down quite a bit from when I orginally posted, but the hair falling out is the same. For Lori: I'm curious how the blackstrap molasses and ACV is supposed to help? I'm thinking of trying this.

Me too. we have the same sometimes I try the anti-fungal shampoo the red one which does make it only work but they gave me this one in a white bottle and it was orange kind of did it really did work you could feel the difference see the difference and explore the difference but unfortunately they took it off of the shelf for Medicare people. I use espom salt in my shampoo which kind of works. And feels really really good on your skin. But I can't control the burning. I am going to the doctors .
