Apple Cider Vinegar
Posted by Mel (Luray, Virginia) on 12/08/2008

I am new at this, after being overweight for about a 6 months I joined a gym to start working out. BUT..I found out today from my fasting blood test my sugar level was 285, thats scary. Since I am new at this does this ACV stuff really work? I plan to work at losing 50 lbs in the gym. I know it will be tough but I know I can do it. I just hope all these claims about ACV is correct.

2 remedies, 1 question

Dandelion root tea: 1 bag/1 cup a day to reduce blood sugar and control yeast

Ginger capsules: for nausea and vertigo. Take with a glass of water to reduce stomach irritation(1 cap every 4 hours)

Q: any remedies for chemical sensitivity? Synthetic fragrance makes me feel ill: headaches, nausea, woozy; avoidance is difficult.

Thank you

WARNING!

To Matt from Cincinatti: Your theory may be plausible, but hypoglycemia runs rampant in alcoholics, as does liver disease.

Small Snacks and Bourbon

Morning Sugars: Used to take metformin. Had major heart attack and developed CHF. While in hospital, heart diet is exact opposite of diabetic diet. Insulin in hosp. couldn't bring sugar down. Glucagon pumps in liver running rampant. Can't take metformin anymore due to CHF. What to do?

I eat a small snack at bedtime, washed down by two shots of straight Kentucky bourbon. While processing alcohol removal, the liver shuts the glucagon pumps down because it can't do two things at once. Stops overloading pancreas with glucagon flood. Eat sensibly during day and move around, don't be a couch potato. Snack is essential to keep from bottoming out. Threw away the glimiperide, pancreas wasn't the problem. Good old alcohol! What do you think brings on a hangover? LOW BLOOD SUGAR!

My blood sugar was consistantly 126, which is high pre- diabetic. I read the results of several cinnamon trials and began taking three 500 mg. capsules of it around two years ago. My fasting blood sugar dropped to between 89 -103, and has remained at that level. I am tested at a local senior citizens center once a month. It is a finger-stick test. A serum test once was 106.

Turmeric

Diabetes:

I was diagnosed about a year ago. I was put on metformin. I found that taking 2 caps of turmeric with each meal dropped my sugar levels to normal after 2 hours of eating. I found that taking 4 cap. of turmeric with metforman once a day dropped my sugar levels too low around 60.

I now am off all prescription diabetes medicine. The way I did it was I took chromium normal dose for 30 days. Tumeric with food for 30 days. Ginger and cinnamon with meals for 30 days. After that I stopped the metformin.

I watch my diet and don't over eat and stopped ALL sodas. My levels I check once a week now in the morning (fasting) and they are allways under 100. Before over 130.

Avoid Sodas

WARNING!

Sodas are made with High Fructose Corn Syrup. Corn is a GRAIN NOT a veg. They give corn to cows before slaughter to fatten them up. HFCS turns directly into fat, NOT energy like normal sugar. HFCS not only makes you fat it damages the liver and pancreas. It was linked to mine and 3-4 other friends' diabetes. I stopped all sodas diet or HFCS and my fasting sugar has went from 130 to 90.

EC: Sodas imported from Mexico (as well as many other countries) are made with sugar, so check your labels!

Vinegar has lowered my glucose readings. It has worked so well, that I, too, thought my moniter was broken. I happen to love vinegar, but even if I didn''t.....so what? It's only two tablespoons in 1/2 glass of water. I use it now after every meal. The results are unbelievable and so well worth my health. Please tell everyone. I cannot believe I stumbled upon this amazing, inexpensive aid in lowering my blood glucose levels.

I read about Apple Cider Vinegar online so I tried it. The first day my sugar level lowered from 235 plus to 110. I am taking two table spoons in a 1/4 glass of water, this is a miracle remedy to lower sugar level. I have not taken any metformin etc. for nearly two weeks. I am to have my lab test done next mid April 2008, let's see what the results shows! My diet is besan (gram flour) and soya flour pan cakes with sour cream and salad (onion, cucumber, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, celery, lemon juice, bitter melon and Habanero and lite salt) twice a day and boiled tilapia fish in the evening. I am very happy with ACV, I just ordered 12 (32oz) bottles of ACV with the Mother, Organic and unfiltered. This will remain in my cupboard always! Thank you for having a wonderful informative website. God Bless!!

Cinnamon

I have been a type one diabetic for around 7 years and most of the knowledge I have about it has come from my curiosity about my ailment. I read an article about cinnamon in a diabetes magazine that suggested it helped blood sugar control, and I have been using about a table spoon in a half cup of apple sauce, and I have been finding that my waking blood sugars and throughout the day have become much tighter and I have lowered my insulin levels slightly because I simply don't need as much. I am still tinkering with the mix, but my blood sugar has definitely seen change for the better since I added some cinnamon

pH Meter Testing

One of the most amazing things, I have ever witnessed was the lowering of my own blood sugar to near normal levels. The single BIGGEST problem that prevented ME from finding foods to lower the blood sugar is not what foods, supplements, herbs, vitamins to take but I needed a device that will measure my blood sugar to tests the food I eat.

The device turns out to be a Brix - sugar refractometer- see "Ph The Scoop" and the optimal values are about 1.5 The fun part about this is you don't need to do fasting for 12 hours before pinching blood on your fingers! No fasting was needed.

Therefore, I proceeded to take observations as to what foods I have been eating and what effects it has on my blood sugar on a day by day basis. This is the only way to find out what food works for me. However, other people's blood chemical might be different.

The numbers are preliminary, but the effects are large enough to report to you. My brix went from 5 to 2.5 within hours after eating onions (one big bulb) in my tuna sandwiches or sardines with lemon and onions.

What is so amazing is that I also get almost the same blood sugar reduction with garlic as well. There has been many reports of using supplements with vanadium, chromium, brewer's yeast, vanadium, cinnamon, brewer's yeast, manganese, magnesium, etc. Some say the use of linalool (rosewood oil), peppermint oil, also had a blood sugar lowering effect.

It might be true, but the biggest effect I tested for was onions works best for me. Garlic came second. I also tested other foods, and a distant third could be peppermint oil, however the effects were not as long lasting as onions. Apparently the disulfide compound in both onions and garlic had a blood glucose lowering (or suppressing) effect. Coconut oil might be supportive but the results are too early to tell now. What I do know was vegetable oils made it worse - the ones you find in fried foods.

It is well known since ANCIENT times that onions and garlic were useful for treating DIABETES, and once again I rediscovered that what our ancestors eating were right after all.

I will keep you posted on other food or supplements that help lower blood sugar. I am now testing brewer's yeast, manganese, and others to see which one will help me lower my blood sugar.

Cold Showers

I have been taking cold showers every day now for almost three months, and I recently got the results of my latest blood and urine lab tests from my doctor. Blood sugar and cholesterol were markedly lower than the tests showed just prior to starting the cold shower regimen, with no appreciable changes in diet or physical excercise. My blood pressure was lower, and my pulse rate at rest has decreased from 72 to 54, which I find amazing. I am not in "great" shape physically, and I can only attribute these changes to the cold showers. This might actually be the 'fountain of youth'.
