Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda

I have suffered with abdominal pain in my sternum area for the past 2 years or more. Finally the pain got so bad, I went to see a gastroenterologist to diagnose my condition. I figured it was an ulcer, but my endoscopy procedure showed that I was suffering from a hiatal hernia as a result of acid reflux. I was prescribed Prevacid to be taken for several months. I traced my problem back to having taken a hefty amount of ibuprofen from past sports injuries and knee surgery. I play basketball for exercise twice a week and wake up every morning with painful, stiff knees. Had I been aware of the negative results of anti-inflamatory drugs years ago, I never would have taken them. Anyway, after reading about the negative side effects of taking chemical drugs for acid reflux, I started praying and searching the web for natural remedies. I came across Ted's Apple Cider Vinegar & Baking soda remedy and have been on it for 3days now. It works great and quickly to relieve the pain of my acid reflux and to my surprise, after my first day of taking the remedy, my stiff, sore knees have been relieved. I played basketball 2days ago and had very minimal soreness and stiffness in my knees the next morning. I was able to climb the stairs in my house with no problem for the the first time in months. During my doctor's visits over the last few months, it has been discovered that my blood pressure is at pre-hypertension levels (138/88). I read several testimonials that users of the ACV remedy have experienced lowered blood pressure and cholesterol levels. I am anxious to have my blood pressure checked again to see if I am experiencing the same results. Hey, the acid reflux is getting under control and my knees don't ache and aren't stiff anymore. 2 down, 1 to go (blood pressure). It amazes me that I was able to come across one solution for all three of my conditions. I believe God directed me to this site for a reason. I will report back about my blood pressure once I get my next reading. Great stuff!!

If you don't add additional potassium to counter the salt in the baking soda you may find that your blood pressure rises on this regimen.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Cayenne Wrap

I have used this site for years but I had to make a statement on the Apple Cider vinegar and pain. Its AMAZING and it's real. Apple Cider is the magical natural elixir. I read many posts about people using Apple CIder to help with swelling and pain.
So I had been having swelling in my right foot during the middle of the day for about the past two weeks. The swelling would go down overnight when I slept except the last week it had been swollen first thing in the morning. And then my knee started to hurt. I turned to this site and read about Apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper.
I wrapped my ankle and my knee with a mixture of apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper and coconut oil. I did it once I was ready for bed. I used a towel to sleep on and to wrap my knee with. I put the mixture on my knee wrapped the towel around my knee and wrapped it all in plastic wrap. For my ankle I made the same ingredients but this time I just wrapped it in plastic wrap. I eventually fell asleep. But I woke up when I felt the heat of the cayenne pepper on my skin.
The cayenne pepper did make this heat up in a few hours and I had to take it off. I massaged the residual in my skin. Next morning took a shower but the difference was a 100% decrease in pain. In addition, 3 days later still feel great. Apparently Apple Cider is so good you can just rub it on your skin. I read an article that it was good for varicose veins and you can massage it on the area where you have issues and you will see a difference.

I have a sore knee which I can't seem to get better. How much of each ingredient did you use to make up your mixture? Or do you just make it up as you go along? I already take ACV to help with my carpal tunnel but am willingly to use its benefits to help with my knee. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Vanessa

Dear Vanessa,
When I use Apple cider vinegar as a wrap, I get a flannel cloth and pour apple cider vinegar on it. I wrap the ankle or knee with the cloth, cover with plastic wrap, then an ace bandage or cohesive tape. If I were to add cayenne, I would just sprinkle on the amount I would sprinkle on food onto the Apple Cider Vinegar cloth. We have used Apple Cider Vinegar wraps overnight many times for sprains. My kids don't mind because they know they help! Even if you end up smelling like salad.

After a fall down my front steps my knee swelled to the point I saw my long forgotten Doctor. He measured around my leg under both knees and the swollen one was 1 1/2" larger than the other. I was given a prescription but decided to try apple cider vinegar instead. I took one shot in the morning and one at night. On the third day the swelling was gone along with all the pain. I like the idea of ingesting the Apple Cider Vinegar and letting it work from the inside out.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Cayenne Wrap

I am 52 had started jumping on a trampoline on the fourth day I hooked my foot on a torn section of trampoline bed, could feel the outside of left knee tender. Then I wore 2.5 in. heels that night walking around four hours, by 10 p.m. I had such pain, off with those cruel shoes. The pain was felt especially if I moved leg laterally. After search on earthclinic I decided to use ACV mixed with water (70-85% ACV) and a small amount of Cayenne pepper (depends on your tolerance). Soaked a piece of cloth in mixture, wrapped my left knee with cloth then wrapped it in plastic wrap. I took off cloth on awaking. Knee felt better, but still small pain, by afternoon I forgot about pain and realized I had no pain. It was amazing! My knees have always been on the weak side, it has been 2 months since that happened and my knee is painfree. Thanks so much to all on earthclinic.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Cayenne Wrap

Ok, this is my 3rd post in 3 days after finding this site. My first cure was for my son's fever, second was for losing weight, depression, surgery recovery, and skin clearing all due to ACV. This one is for my knee sprain. i am 30 and I was sitting on a chair with my leg/ankle resting across on my other leg, when my 2 year old son (27 lbs) jumped on my knee and it twisted back and I it was painful but the pain has increased in the past 2 weeks. I tried tumeric and it helped, but I stopped for whatever reason. I after my last sleepless night, I went back on this site and read about acv and arthritis and muscle pain. I also read about cayenne pepper for muscle pain. I soaked a cloth with acv and cayenne pepper and placed it on my knee under a wrap around 7:30am MST, around 8:30 I noticed I was walking around a little better, 10:30 I felt as if I never had an injury. Thank you to all who care about others enough to post these remedies.

Hi,
I discovered this web by mistake and have been trying slowly one by one. Currently I have severe knee joint pain with my once a week exercise programe. I read about ACV and cayenne Pepper. Can anyone clarify Cayenne pepper. Is it the Red Chilli as what we call here (Singapore). Do I have to make to a paste or just cut to slice and add ACV. How much of Cayenne pepper do I use to what proportion of ACV. Appreciate your reply Thank you
EC: People who are reporting cayenne feedback on this site typically buy cayenne in powder form. Info on this Wikipedia page may help you identify cayenne in Singapore: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cayenne_pepper
Not sure about the acv and cayenne topical application, sorry! Perhaps someone else can clarify the remedy for you.

What is the "recipe for the ACV/ Cayenne pepper wrap? How long do you keep it on? Do both ingredients have to be organic? Thanks.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Olive Oil

Read the post today about the olive oil and ACV for knee problems:
04/09/2006: Skyye : "Within the hour, a mix of ACV & Olive oil applied with cotton wool on the knee, massaged in after about 20 mins and the severe pain is gone. Also took 2 tbsp in a glass of water. No painkillers necessary!!!"
My husband hurt his knee last week, had a shot in the knee, no help. Was scheduled to see Dr again tomorrow. He massaged the mixture into his knee JUST ONCE and got immediate relief. Just used the massage mixture for a second time. Also mixed up 2 tbsp of ACV in water and is drinking that, too. AMAZING!!! Hopefully he won't need the Dr visit tomorrow.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Baking Soda, Lemons, MSM

Praise God This Works. Thank My GOD, And Thank You, I had a sence of tiredness and I have arthrits, an knee problems, bone on bone,(PAINFUL) I took 2tabs. ACV, 1.tesp.baking soda, plus I've been on lemon, [baking] soda (same dosage) and 1000uts of MSM I need some potassium, but it's much better.
Apple Cider Vinegar, Blackstrap Molasses

I was having immense pain on my left knee which I knew the cause of. I had a knee surgery on my right knee for the same reason & same pain a few years back which was due to osteochondritis dissecans.
Pain to the point where I'd cry and fall if I made the wrong movement. Even if I didn't move my leg I'd feel a pinched nerve ache. It was just BAD.
I had forgotten about blackstrap molasses and what my mother & grandmother would tell me about it. Though their recipe contained a glass of regular temp water, a tbsp of apple cider vinegar & a tbsp of blackstrap molasses. LITERALLY, the next day the pain was nearly there. 2-3 days later I was able to walk pretty normally. I'm sure I won't even need surgery anymore!
Y'all should look into Apple Cider vinegar as well as Blackstrap Molasses. These two put together are life savers.

Hello Ted and EarthClinic Global Healing Website,
May this moment find you embraced in Loving Peace. I have read so many beauitful remedies and testimonies of the healing powers of nature. I was wonder if you could give more details about knee and hip pain and how it works physiologocally. My personal experience is that when I began the menopause process over 10 years ago, all my joints hurt and I had some weight gain, but never to have more than 4 hot flashes. Now, post menopause, my knees are cracking in the back all the time and are in pain. I am afraid to do any real excercise, hence tendon tears or ligament problems. I had an MRI about 2 years ago showing that everything was OK...just a little arthrtis.
Before I get started with the ACV anf BSM remedy I was hoping to get some more effect information about the joints and how these remedies actually change the health of the knee and hip joints. Thank you in abundance for your global site, I have given much thought about the hope that you offer for us who want to help heal ourselves and live natural lives. May you all be Blessed in this life and the next, for you show us what helping others is all about. Much Love and Happieness.
Hello Nur,
There are two things I can suggest for those arthritic painful knees. The first is pokeweed (poke sallet) berries if they grow there. The second one is MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) which you can research on line. Fortunately you can usually get a variety of sites to check on it just by typing MSM in your search window instead of having to spell it out.

Heel Spurs: Extreme pain in my heels started suddenly and I didn't know what was happening. My boss said that she had had them and had been given very, very painful cortisone injections. She said this may help for 5 years. I hate needles, so remembering that castor oil was very good for many things, massaged it into my feet along with Vicks vapo rub or any similar product and within 2 weeks, no more pain. I then was able to go overseas and walk 5 miles and no pain except I had a huge water pouch on the bottom of my feet when I returned. Rested feet 2 days, water reabsorbed into body and have had no reoccurance for 10 years.
Also, just came home from Thailand with aching, dragging leg and sore knees. I read the blogs on black strap molasses and ACV and have been taking daily and muscle ache in leg has gone, knees much better, so am a happy camper. Just have to try not to overdo my walking and climbing steep steps at 75 years of age. Also used the castor oil and Vicks massage on knees. Don't know why this worked, but no harm in trying it to get relief.
Apple Cider Vinegar, DMSO

Using apple cider vinegar on hurt knee and rubbing dmso over that has helped tremendously also for a few days and then after that just a heating pad has helped tremendously.
Lynn4,
One of the components of ACV is boron and boron is known to have antiarthritic effects. This may be the reason for your knee pain improvement.

Arnica

I am 62 yrs young and very active but I guess I over did it and strain my right knee. Terrible pain and swelling and tried ice and wrapping my knee but it didn't help at all. I tried arnica gel, there's also arnica cream and amazing how much better my knee is within 2 days. I urge anyone with knee pain or anywhere else to use arnica topically. I know you can get the pellets but I don't know if it works as well as the cream. Pain is so depressing. Wish all of you the best and thanks EC for your site.
Arthrofibrosis of the Knee Remedies
I have a friend who has had to have 2 surgeries on her knee and a manipulation. She has been told that she has Athrofibrosis of the knee. Is there any Herbal remedies that can help her with this condition? Please help.

I have arthrofibrosis of my left knee. I had a ski accident several years ago and the scar tissue hardened and grew to the point that I could no longer bend my knee. I had to have surgery along with a manipulation to fix it. I was super, super careful with the rehibilitation after the surgery so that my body wouldn't do the same thing again - feel pain, over-respond to it by creating scar tissue to fix it. Anyhow, today, 5 years later, the pain is much better. I can walk normally and my knee is no longer painful to the touch. I drink a lot of alkaline water and take a whole foods vitamin daily. I also eat a Paleo diet. All of this has helped, along with not doing too much too soon physically. My quad is weak but I'm slowly strengthening it. I will never be able to enjoy some of the more active things that I used to enjoy, but I can walk and I'm not in pain anymore. Best of luck.
Arthroscopic Surgery
I am due to have arthroscopic surgery on my right knee in approximately two weeks from now. I really don't want to, but I am in so much pain that I have to do something. Goosebeans has given his recipe that has helped him. I am going to try it, but I want to know if anyone else has other ideas I could try too. Has anyone else on earthclinic had arthroscopic surgery? If you have, what were the results and were you pleased with them? Would you recommend having this surgery to anyone else? Your replies will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Tahiti - My husband had this type of knee surgery about a year ago. He is very glad he did it, and his knee is back to being useable and pain free again. It is not a very long surgery (as I recall, it was about an hour of sedation in his case). His recovery was rapid too - back to normal walking around in less than a week.
Our neighbor also had this surgery about 6 months ago, and his results were similar.
I say go for it - you will be very glad you did it if you are in daily pain and it is keeping you from doing the things that you want to do.
Best to you,
Carla

The problem with arthroscopic surgery is that as soon as the surgeon starts poking around in there damage is being done by the nature of the surgery itself. The long term effects are a very high likelihood for osteoporosis or similar due to the degradation of the meniscus.
If you can avoid invasive surgery I would strongly advise that you do so. Prolotherapy is well worth looking into if you can afford it.
There's a guy who wrote a book called something like 'how I cured my knee pain', who was told he would not be able to walk within a short number of years, but cured himself by exercising the joint rather than the muscles.
I would look into maintaining activity, increasing joint friendly activity and eliminating those activities that put your joint at risk.
Your diet is very significant as is your mental health and attitude. Eat healthy nutritious meals. Organic vegetables in plentiful supply. Avoid all processed carbohydrates. If you are overweight - lose it. All of these things will aid your overall health, and consequently the condition of your joints.
I hope this helps. I must add that I am not a doctor, and this is all just personal experience that I am passing on. None of the above should be considered as qualifed medical advice. Consult your physician.
Very best of luck to you.

Thanks so much for your advice! It has been about four years since I had my arthroscopic surgery, and the 'benefits' have already worn thin. Once again I do have pain. I am eating healthier (sometimes), green juicing and taking supplements. I do need to lose weight though, and exercise. I am going to look into the PROLOTHERAPY to find out what it is all about! Again, thank-you for your concern and help! Tahiti

I had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee six years ago and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I waited a while to do the physical therapy I should've done sooner, so if your ortho recommends it, do it. Any small excercises they give you to do post-surgery, do those too. If you have a good surgeon, all should be well. It's an easy surgery with quick recovery. I was off crutches in a week. Follow all directions and you should be fine.
Baking Soda

I am 31 years old and spent the last 20 years of my life being very active. I used to run 4-6 miles every morning and played tennis regularly. About 2 years ago I noticed a pain in my left knee. I saw doctor after doctor and the pain seemed to just get worse. I finally had an MRI and the Dr. said I had patella Tendinitis which is common. Many people have patella Tendinitis and continue to live and workout. I stopped working out completely and found myself becoming more and more sedentary. I live one block from the beautiful Pacific Ocean and I wouldn't even walk to the ocean because the pain in my knees had gotten that bad. I even started using a cane to get around. About 3 weeks ago my younger sister recommended that I boil some water and take 2Tbl spoons of ACV and that every morning I should drink 6oz of water with 1/4tsp of baking soda. I am an avid baker who has a gluten allergy so I never get to eat what I bake but I always have fresh baking soda on hand. I didn't have the ACV so I just started drinking the baking soda every morning and OMG I have been smiling from cheek to cheek because my pain has gone away. I am not running yet but I walk everywhere now. Baking Soda once a day has changed my life. After reading others stories I am going to start using the ACV because it sounds like it has many healthy benefits.
