How to Cure Candida

Granted simple explanations are at odds with complexity of biochemistry! That said, I was little overwelmed by the amount of nuanced information on your site. With the exception of the Candida my partner is young, having no other problems (i. e. High blood pressure) and relatively robust. If I have this right he should be taking lemon and baking soda (alkalizing for the blood and body) on an empty stomach between meals and later ACV (Acidic for the stomach) prior, during and immediately after meals? Or can he do all three (lemon, baking soda and ACV) on an empty stomach several times a day? Tank

Hi everyone, This week I had suddenly developed big dark melasma spots beside my nose under my eyes and very patchy looking skin all over the rest of my face. I have been so sad and cried heaps. I have never had melasma before and I had not been in the sun at all (because I live in Europe and the summer is not here yet). So I looked all over at forums and decided to try a cosmelan mask yesterday. However seeing that I today didn't have any tightness or redness in the face (I don't think it worked) I decided to continue looking if I could find some other wonder cure. And I just have to say that I'm so thankful that I found this forum. After reading the blog I am soooo happy.

First of all you made me so optimistic that there was a cure with the Apple cider vinegar and then almost at the end of the first page of great ideas and stories from you guys I realised like some of you that I have candida (which explains why Apple Cider Vinegar works so well because helps kill the fungus). I stopped using the tea tree oil two weeks ago because I was afraid that it was to harsh on my skin but after today's research I have found that this was the worst thing I could have done because that keeps Candida at bay as well. So I can only recommend that you guys try tea tree oil and see if it works on you because that might imply that you also have hyperpigmentation/melasma from candida. I have found medical journals saying tea tree works better than acv. I hope now that I will be able to get it under control and that the melasma/hyperpigmentation will go away with it. I will keep you informed and please ask if there is anything I can do at all for you guys seeing that you have done so much for me.

Hi Ted, I lost a lot of hair when I turned 29 and maybe a year later I began to get rosacea symptoms, strong flushing and now broken thread veins. I was wondering whether it could be candida in my system that's causing both of these. I remember during the period when I began to lose hair my head would suddenly itch particularly during the night. I am also prone to thrush particularly in humid weather. Could it be hormonal?

I'm just not sure where to start...?

Regards, Lisa

I am breastfeeding my 5 week old baby, and we seem to have a yeast problem. White tongue & gums, Dry skin on forehead, diaper rash, and smelly skin around neck folds. I am giving baby baking soda baths everyday, which tends to keep the rash at bay and even the dry skin. I have been swabbing inside of baby's mouth with baking soda/water solution & using ACV/water solution for skin folds. However, the thrush is not going away in the mouth. I have noticed that my tongue is white and I have a touch of a vaginal yeast infection. I have only had a few in my life & eat organic foods & NEVER take meds. So, I wanted to clarify if it would be safe for me to take the lime/lemon & baking soda combo to help me get rid of the candida, so that I can quit passing it on to my baby? Thank you for your time!

Marie, when I was nursing my baby many years ago, I got a cracked nipple. The baby had thrush in his mouth and the Dr. said to quit nursing him because we would just pass the yeast back and forth. Then an older woman told me to use apple cider vinegar diluted in the baby's mouth and also to wipe my breast with it. It did the trick. In just a few days the baby's mouth was clear and the thrush went away. Give it a try.. good luck.

Marie, the lime/lemon & baking soda combo is mainly an acid reducer, so it seems safer to use it than not especially if your body is acidic, but to be safe use ph test strips to achieve a slightly alkaline state. As for the yeast infection, do consider oral Coconut Oil or Caprylic Acid along with any number of herbs like Grapefruit Seed, Olive Leaf, Neem, Pau de Arco to kill the bad fungus.

Hope this helps and good luck and report results, changes.

To Marie.... I had a minor case of thrush/yeast while nursing both my children and used gentian violet to cure it. My pediatrician told me to paint in on my nipple before nursing so my baby would get some in her mouth too. Although it is quite messy and stained both of us temporarily, it worked. I was able to get it over the counter at my local pharmacy.

Has anyone ever used Syclovir for candida yeast? I have been using it for over 2 weeks and am up to 1/2 teaspoon. It is powerful and one must go very slow and build up to the larger dosages.

Is Kefir considered ok for consumption if one has candida? I have read pros and cons and need some guidance here. Please.

Thank you :)

As Kefir is considered a probiotic I think that it can be taken if you have candida, but only the homemade version not the bought one. Also it is better to start out with a small amount first and build up. Here are some sites to have a look at including ECs candida page.

Hi Bill, I was reviewing your Candida remedy and you mention BSM but doesn't it contain a lot of sugar? I am trying to stay away from sugar as much as I can to see if with the diet and some supplements my health will improve once and for all!

Thinking that I might suffer from Sjogren's I decided to pay a visit to my husband's GP (I don't have one, I rarely go to mainstream doctors! ). This is a doctor in Switzerland, where medicine is supposed to be good and I had been there once, months ago. Because I thought that I might actually just suffer from Candida I took my Cure Candida Through Diet book with me to help him along. Of course he wasn't interested in anything to do with Candida, whether I could suffer from it or not was of no consequence to him. But well, I have a lot of difficulty sleeping with my dry eyes and mouth.... But that is my problem, he must have thought... His answer, when I showed him the book was that anybody can write everything which doesn't mean that they are right! Then I went on to tell him about my other complaints, white spots on the skin, lower back pain, warts.... A bit bored he asked me which complaints I wanted him to treat, meaning I shouldn't come with so many thing but choose a couple and leave it at that. Amazing... Isn't the complete picture what should give a doctor an idea of what one is suffering from? In the end I had a blood test and he is going to see whether I really have Sjogren's. For the rest he asked no questions, showed no interest only told me that having Sjogren's, although not a pleasant illness it is not really something to worry about! So I came home, feeling abandoned, with no one to turn too with my symptoms except this site, as usual, and my books!

If you think that I was unlucky with my choice of doctor think again, they just don't care and the choice is very limited here although through my health insurance I have access to two countries, France and Switzerland. But maybe I am lucky, I have just read the book "Breaking through the untouchable diseases" by Geral Green, which I will review here in due course, phoned Gerald last Sunday, had a great conversation with him and am starting the anti-Candida diet soon and he will ship me his medication. So fingers crossed I will be feeling a lot better soon (sorry Bill, you told me to do the diet such a long time ago.....)!

Drs... especially western doctors are engineers of the body. A wonderful science to be respected in its own right however as engineers many lack interpersonal skills. I think many of us have had similar experiences to yours, .. For me walking out of a Dr's office muttering under my breath, "what an A-hole! " was more than a couple times. It's important to find a doctor that doesn't make you feel helpless about your condition. So good that you are moving on. Western, mainstream medicine mainly views a diagnoses of systemic candidiasis as having no scientific basis, and most of the recommended treatments for it a waste of time and money. Some feel that it is mostly psychological in that it satisfies a need to blame our maladies on an external cause.

For this type of condition you would most likely do better by seeing an traditional chinese medicine practitioner or Ayurvedic Dr. who is more in tune with balancing the body. Finding a good one is however tricky and usually trial and error... even in big cities like New York I found this to be a challenge...

Trying to understand a dr's position however is important... I can imagine that they after spending so many years studying, having their patients telling them what internet's diagnosis is would be annoying at times... However a good Dr.. would be open to all views... I've a few times mentioned certain herbs to Dr's who had no idea what they were... So I do believe it is a two way communication. Use them, respect their info.. but don't take it as the final word because that will always change with time.

Francisca, sorry to hear about your experience but I am afraid it was to be expected. Our western Doctors only know which medication to give for which symptom.

When my son was a year old and was very constipated all I was told was to give him a stool softener (at the Emergency Department). No one told me about probiotics or digestive enzymes or anything else. The health food shop told me about those. Since then I have read everything I could find.

Maybe a Naturopath could help you but I sincerely think that a green juice detox would help you. Fresh lemon juice every day (1/2 glass). Stick with the chlorella and sprirulina and chlorophyl. Take colloidal minerals.

The chlorophyl in the green juices will cleanse the blood from toxins. The chlorella and spirulina will also cleanse the kidneys and liver amongst many other things.

If you don't have faith in the above then colloidal silver may be your savior.

It has been used against warts and yeast infections. It is antibacterial and anti fungal (and can treat over 650 diseases)

Thanks Rob and Debbie. Unfortunately Rob, here in France as a rule you only find homeopathic doctors. And yes, it must be very annoying when you spent years studying something to have some little lady come in with her own ideas, books, etc but that is life.....

Debbie, I am sticking with the Clorophyl, Chlorella and Spirulina. Coloidal Silver I am not sure about. I bought a bottle once but read so many bad things about it that I didn't dare to take it again. It seems one risks getting a funny color.... No idea what to believe anymore! Anyway, I bought the copper which I think you suggested a little while ago but that also gave me a bad taste in the mouth. And I have read that Alzheimer's might be connected with too much copper and zink in the brain. Aren't you afraid of that? So far no changes in my hair color with the Chlorella, Spirulina powder. I stopped with the copper for the moment!

you're right Francisca, better to risk annoying the Dr. when it comes to our health... I recall when I was young, a hospital Dr. caring for my brother hanging up on my mother over the phone. (she was a very polite woman) The Dr didn't want to admit they were failing him and she persisted on having him moved to a better hospital. She eventually prevailed, & as soon as he was moved the new hospital alarmed at his condition, they operated immediately (when the previous hospital was attempting rehab on him!! )... It was an infection that was close to being systemic.... It was a close call but it was uphill from there. It was a mother's intuition and risk of being a pain that absolutely saved his life.

Rob, I absolutely recognize the position your mother was in. I had the same with some issues with my daughters. Difficult to have the doctors do something but me as a mother I fought to get them well. Now they are wonderful, beautiful, young women! And with my health as well, it took me many years of monthly migranes to find out by myself that I had hormonal headaches and to find a pill that cured them (all by myself! ). Or to cure the ostheoarthritis in my knee (ok, a natural doctor did it in the end but I had to look for the answers myself, now at 54 I haven't had any pain at all for 6 years).

Do you know what made me laugh the most during my visit to the doctor in Switzerland? When he told me that there is no way of moisturizing the tissues from within. He told me to just put some cream on my skin and that Hyaluronic Acid would do nothing to moisturize it or to minimize my dry eyes and throat. Sorry but I find it very difficult to respect them! Of course they can do some things natural medicine can't do, but they also do a lot of harm! I have just finished reading Gerald Green's book (which I would recommend to anyone and no, I don't have any connection with him other than talking with him on a phone a week ago) and there you can see that even life threatening illnesses can be cured by natural methods, maybe even only with natural methods because mainstream medicine has no clue of what to do with them!

FRANCISCA-I went on DHEA (100 mg oral every other day) and made same amount of DHEA instilled into eyedrops (natural tear type-keep in fridge-use in a week and wash hands before each instillation-USE clean technique)-I also went on Minocycline for about 12 months. I drank lots of H2O and protected my eyes----the Italian medical journals do the best job with this ailment! (ALSO-that DOCTOR is a FOOL. Sjogren's has two 'types' one is very, very serious and tends to Lymphatic cancers-you need to know 'which' one is the likely one-so you may help yourself. Best Wishes!

YES! I successfully cut up a piece of 3-4" ginger root and boil for 20 mins in 2 cups water and allow to cook on slow stove. I had this 3-4 times daily for few days and the nastiest of candida is now gone! Amazing!

I am 36 yr. Old female curing my candida with ginger root tea. I use 2 tablespoons of peeled and diced ginger root steeped in 2 cups of boiling water. I drink this tea twice a day (morning/night.) It stops the growth of candida and cleanses the system as well. I happened upon a clinical study that showed ginger as an effective fighter against fungal infections and thought I would try it. I am pleased with how I am feeling after one week of my trial. My spit tests are coming out clear every morning and I do not seem to be suffering any die off effects (ginger has me eliminating 3 times a day, remaining solid as well)I am sleeping well, have more energy, can think clearly, and pain has almost gone completely.

Grapefruit Seed Extract

For a yeast infection that you get only occasionally, Grapefruit Seed Extract works miracles... usually in hours...not kidding Take 10-15 drops 3 times a day in juice... it's very bitter, so watch out!

If your Candida is systemic, chronic and ongoing:

1) Get on the low-fat, mostly raw Vegan train right now! Have copious amounts of organic fruits ONLY on an empty and wait 2 hours before eating anything else...have most of your fruit in the morning. As long as you have no fat or a very low-fat diet, you should not have reactions to the sugar in fruit. FRUIT is healing... You need it... Going long periods without it puts you at great risk of vitamin and mineral deficiencies. The theory is that when you consume a lot of fat, even the healthy kinds, you are coating your intestines and the sugars that should normally be released quickly into your blood isn't released. The fruit, or other carbs, just sit there putrifying, clogged up with the fat, and the candida get to FEAST and make you feel terrible too.

As your only grains, I recommend organic quinoa and organic brown rice and if you are really craving protein, have only wild Alaskan Salmon.... but that's nuts, no red meats or pork - they will only clog you up... No adding excess oils to your meals - just maybe a tsp. Oilve oil per serving of a dish...and no more than half an avocado per day. You'd be wise, at least for the first few days, to eliminate all oils completely to cleanse your system.

2) Take the Niacin... 300-1000mg each day... working your way up slowly by taking 25mg 3 times a day with meals...eventually the flushing will be over or entirely tolerable and you can easily take 1000mg a day, no problem.

3) Take epsom salt baths... 1 per day, if you can.

4) Take about 3-5 capsules of SF-722 with each meal, which can be bought from

5) Buy gallons of spring water and put in at least 1 heaping teaspoon of SEA SALT in it and drink it all day...stay hydrated... Use only spring water in your cooking -- avoid tap water like the plague.

5) Do salt water flushes... as much as you can tolerate. Some say, do it 1st thing in the morning, but I like to do them in late afternoon on a day I'm not working - that way, the whole process is done within about 3 hours and I can have a good night's sleep afterwards.

Salt Water Flush Instructions >>>

The Salt Water Flush is performed by warming up one quart of water, only enough to make it lukewarm, not boiling. Add 1 tablespoon of sea salt (not table salt), and include juice from a lime or lemon to improve taste. Drink the entire amount in one sitting, do this at sunrise every day for seven days. Make sure to sip the drink rather than gulping it. Within 30-45 minutes of drinking the saline solution, you will feel the need to have a bowel movement. Depending on your diet, and how many times you have performed the flush, you may feel bloated and the elimination may not come within the specified time frame. Fortunately, there are some simple exercises to speed up the process. The first recommended exercise is the Kogasana or Crow pose. Simply squat down with your back propped against a wall while you sip water.

Another exercise is to rub your stomach both clockwise and counter clockwise. Thirdly, you may try spreading your feet apart and spinning your body from left to right (this is a great stretch for the lower back and abdomen). Lastly, the traditional Cobra position is also great for stimulating the intestines.

You are almost set to begin your first Salt Water Flush, but don't begin before you read these tips:

* The Salt Water Flush is useful before beginning a new naturopathic program, such as a new dietary or vitamin regimen. It allows you to start with a clean state and observe the unadulterated benefits of the new program.

* Speak with a physician first if you have ulcers, appendicitis, tuberculosis, or cancer.

* Celtic Sea Salt is reported to make the taste more tolerable.

* Using a straw may help with the taste of the drink.

* A flush will not work properly if performed too soon after your last meal. Wait at least eight hours.

* Plan to be near the toilet for two hours after you drink the solution.

* Headaches are a frequent detoxification symptom. They usually disappear by day four.
