Hot Sauce   14  0

[YEA]  Been using hot peppers for ever, but I just take a very small bite of Tai, Jalpeno, Habanero or whatever hot pepper I have on hand. Your saliva starts to flow like crazy but then just swallow very slowly, letting your choice of pepper ease down the throat. Don't choke and I can eat unusually hot food I am told. But it works like a charm within hours it you can handle the heat.

Hot Tea   8  2

Posted by Sara (Des Moines, Iowa) on 11/01/2011

[YEA]  What I do, is I take a cup of boiling hot water let it cool a little, but while it is cooling I take a little slice of lemon and squeeze some juice out of it. Then stir in raw honey, after my tea is to my "darkness" of choosing I sit outside on cool fall nights and drink my tea slowly. And you **might** be thinking "But doesn't the cold make your cold worse?" Actually it helps me because I absolutely see no help in being stuck in the air that has been polluted by my sickness.

[YEA]  Hot Tea for sore throat

1/2 large lemon
dash powdered cayenne
dash powdered ginger
1 tsp. manuka honey

2 cups before bed took away my sore throat completely. I've tried this in the past but never with so much lemon. I enjoy sour and this was almost too much for me but did the trick amazingly well. I knew it was working from the pleasant burn during and after drinking it.

[NAY]  I have had a very bad sore throat going on 10 days now!! I'm 11 weeks pregnant so I unfortunately can't take a lot of medicines. So almost every website I went to said to drink hot tea with lemon and honey. I have been drinking this for 3 days, even trying to change the amount of lemon and honey I put in it and the level of hot I can stand. My throat is still just as sore and wasn't even relieved for a couple minutes. I'm sure it works great for some people but I have not had good luck with it.

To Michelle from Co. Springs: if your sore throat has lasted for 10 days, it is probably more than just a sore throat. You might need a traditional remedy which your doctor can assign or prescribe even while you are pregnant.

I have swollen lymph nodes, a sore throat with white sores which makes it uncomfortable to swallow. A few nanas here in Mexico have suggested to me, in the morning to drink camomile tea and separately eat a tablespoon of honey with lime juice added to it (pretty tastey! ). Also, during the day to drink tea from the flower of Boganvilia, gargle with salt water sporadically, and avoid breathing through my mouth. And obviously, rest and stay warm! All day yesterday I was completely wiped out, but after following this, I feel wayy better energy wise, and my throat has improved although is still swollen and a bit uncomfortable. Hopefully with one more day of patience, I'll be cured!

[YEA]  make a cup of your favorite tea, add a slice of lemon, lemon juice, 2-3 tablespoons of honey and add aloe vera juice, you can mix some ginger or cinnamon in too if you want: It works great! my throat cleared up overnight.

Hot tea with Ginger does help some with sore throat pain, but avoid sugar as it will only aggravate the congestion. A warm salty water gargle is also helpful and recomended by MD's, DO's, homeopathic and my late mother.

[YEA]  Drinking tea always works for me. I usually drink mine with french vanilla creamer and sugar. It tastes good and it helps my throat very well.

[YEA]  i say drinking a hot cup of tea cures a sore throat. and to open an blocked nose, the cheap way is to inhale steam when you boil some water in a kettle.

[YEA]  An effective remedy is a hot cup of tea with three drops of lozenges (Vicks or Equate). Personally, I prefer Vicks. Ingredients:
1. Hot Cup of Tea (Before adding sugar, place one drop of the desired cough/sore throat suppressant).
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Add 3 teaspoons of sugar.
4. Stir tea for 10 seconds. (This allows the menthol to mix with the tea and drop to dissolve).
5. Then add 2 more drops of the cough/sore throat drop.
6. Wait 10 seconds and it's done and ready to consume.

If done accurately, you should be able to smell the menthol vapors from about a foot away. I should also warn you that the 1/4 of tea left in the cup will be the very strong and may taste equivalent to that of a cough syrup (not as harsh) but it works. With 2 or 3 cups of this, you should be ready to go. Enjoy.

I have tried many things and although hot tea can be soothing on the throat you don't want too much caffeine or you may just over due yourself and you need rest but one thing you definitely want to stay away from as much as possible is sugar(with the possible exception of Honey) as it literally tears down ones immune system. So far Hydrogen Peroxide is the only thing that really worked for me although warm salt water worked for a few minutes but didn't last. I have heard a lot of positive things about Cayenne Pepper but haven't tried it yet.

[YEA]  I have tried just about everything you can imagine for a sore throat with nothing having any immdeiate results. The only thing I have found to work and work well is hydrogen peroxide. Thank you everyone for this useful and very much painless and no longer existing sore throat. :)

Only 35% Food Grade hydrogen peroxide is recommended for internal use. At this concentration, however, hydrogen peroxide is a very strong oxidizer and if not diluted, it can be extremely dangerous or even fatal. Any concentrations over 10% can cause neurological reactions and damage to the upper gastrointestinal tract. There have been two known fatalities in children who ingested 27% and 40% concentrations of H202. Recently, a 26 month old female swallowed one mouthful of 35% H202. She immediately began vomiting, followed by fainting and respiratory arrest. Fortunately, she was under emergency room care and although she experienced erosion and bleeding of the stomach and esophagus, she survived the incident. When she was re-examined 12 days later, the areas involved had healed (J Toxicol Clin Toxicol 90;28(1):95-100).

35% Food Grade H202 must be

1) handled carefully (direct contact will burn the skin--immediate flushing with water is recommended).

2) diluted properly before use. 3) stored safely and properly (after making a dilution the remainder should be stored tightly sealed in the freezer).

One of the most convenient methods of dispensing 35% H202 is from a small glass eye dropper bottle. These can be purchased at your local drugstore. Fill this with the 35% H202 and store the larger container in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator until more is needed. Store the eye dropper bottle in the refrigerator. The generally recommended dosage is outlined in the chart below. The drops are mixed with either 6 to 8 ounces of distilled water, juice, milk or even aloe vera juice or gel. (Don't use chlorinated tap water to dilute the peroxide! )

[NAY]   I woke up with an awful sore throat today and have been trying to kick it but nothing had seemed to work. I tried the salt water, lozenges, and decongestants with no results. I decided to give this hydrogen peroxide thing a try. As soon as I started to gargle it made me vomit into the sink. (gross! ) Needless to say I won't be trying that again...ever!

35% h202? That's rocket fuel. Are you sure you got your numbers right???

[YEA]  Trust these posts... This really works! Just go to the drugstore and buy the brown bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide and gargle with it full strength... DO NOT SWALLOW. Rinse several times with plain tap water. NOT FOR CHILDREN since they could possibly swallow the peroxide. Note: The directions on the Hydrogen Peroxide bottle says it may be used as an oral rinse.

[YEA]  I woke up 3 mornings gargling a sore throat. It was majorly sore, but I didn't want it to get any sorer. It was only sore on the right side. So, I came to my faithful and trusted site. I couldn't wait to try the peroxide in my ears. I poured a couple drops in the cap and drop it in my ear and went to bed. It did feel a little weird, but not painful at all. The next morning I got up and my throat wasn't sore AT ALL. It's been over a week now and I never got a cold. I shared this remedy with a cousin who was getting over a cold, but it was still lingering. She emailed me today and said "it worked like a charm"!!!! Thanks to EC and all of you for sharing and keeping us healthy!!

Hi there....was coming down with the sore throat and decided to mix 6% Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) with regular water at a ratio of about 2:10 respectively (2 parts 6% Hydrogen Peroxide, with 10 parts water). Then gargled with the solution about 4 times (each time a clean solution) then spit it out after each 1 minute gargle.

The sore throat was nearly gone by the evening of the same day, as the H2O2 gargle was done earlier.

TIP: Try to gargle in such a way that the H2O2/water solution gets deep inside the throat. But Do NOT Swallow solution.

TIP: Gargle with the H2O2/water solution directly after it is mixed, as the H2O2 deteriorates/decomposes quickly when left in the open, which could reduce the effectiveness of the process

There was some Very slight discomfort from the Little bubbly feeling of the H2O2....but the gargle is still worth it

Thanks EC, and hope this helps, bye

[YEA]  I have had a sore throat for a week now. I put the 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (no mix)onto some Qtips and then rubbed it onto my tonsils. It completely got rid of the white pus sacs on my tonsils and was foaming. The Qtips actually had pus all over them..Kinda gross but it worked!! I IMMEDIATELY felt better and am able to swallow now without pain..What a miracle that stuff is! I would rate the pain before using the peroxide, a 10, after using it a 1. Slight discomfort but not really noticeable. I also did it until I saw no more pus on my tonsil or on the qtips. Use a clean qtip each time. Also, this can cause you to be careful with that. Thanks so much for this website!
