APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

[YEA] 11/29/2009: Joe from Toledo, Oh writes: "Apple Cider Vinegar, Hydrogen Peroxide cure for Sore Throat
The last two times I woke up and had a sore throat coming on strong, I used the following method to relieve it overnight. Do this once in the morning, once in the mid-day, and once before bead. And repeat the following day after throat is feeling better.
1. Use Hydrogen Peroxide 3% (any generic brand) as a gargle, make use to gargle enough to get both sides of the tonsils! You can dillute with equal parts water, just make sure to gargle about a half cup if you do (ex: gargle a little, spit, and repeat until gone)
2. Use Hydrogen Peroxide 3% to clean/disinfect ears. (I read somewhere that most viral/bacterial illnesses start in the ears and that if not treated there will persist for days) Clean ears out as good as possible with cotton swab/q-tip. Take a dropper or use the cap and put a good splash (3 drops or so)of Hydrogen Peroxide in each ear, tilting your head and letting it fizz in your ear for about 2 or 3 minutes (on each side). I read that you should not do this if you have tubes in your ear! You can also use a cotton swab/q-tip soaked in peroxide to clean ears if uncomfortable with the first method (which is preferred).
At this point I like to repeat the gargle just to make sure I got it all.
Lastly, Take 2-3 TBL ACV (preferrably organic but it doesn't matter) and 1 TBL Honey (preferrably raw and unfiltered but it doesn't matter) and add to about 1/4 to 1/3rd cup of water (preferrably warm). Take a few big gulps, and some little ones and get it on tonsils. With last swallow gargle it before swallowing.
This covers and eliminates the infection in the throat, the mouth, and the ears.
I have tested this method twice with success. It is rather inexpensive and works great! And it takes about 5 to 10 minutes 3 times a day. The only nagging problem is the congestion which I just use some vapor rub on my chest, throat, and under my nose to get some relief."

[YEA] 11/27/2009: Jennifer from Fontana, Ca writes: "tea remedy for sore throat
My husband did this for me and I was amazed. I have had a sore throat for 3 days. He took a green tea bag, water, a half lemon, 1-2 tbs honey(taste) and 2 aspirin and put in in the microwave for 2 min... when it cooled enough i drank it and Im telling you my sore throat was gone within 20 min.. this is not a cure it will come back but do it every 6-8 hours or so and you will be able to swallow food! its thanksgiving and i spent it bed but at least i was able to eat what they brought home! This also works for cough and fever!! GOOD LUCK!"
Replies12/18/2009: Pchandra from Piscataway, Nj replies: "I think the key ingredient that worked here is the 'husband preparing it with a touch of love' that probably contributed 80% effect to the relief' rest all added to the remaining 20% :)"

[YEA] 07/14/2009: Freshcougarbabe from St Louis, MO writes: "2 asprins disolved with 1 tablespoon of salt and baking soda in warm water. I get sore throats all the time and I gargle with this mixture and in a day or two my sore throat is gone. Also I tried the apple cider vinegar, then garggling with the salt baking soda and asprin mixture, then garrgled with 1/2 teaspoon of cayeene pepper in warm water and then laid with a warm towel around my next and this really helped me out the last time because my throat was a little more severe than other times. So i suggest that you just play around with combinations until you find the right one for you."

BAKED LEMON AND OLIVE OIL
Ratings:
|
[YEA] Tara McDonald from Perth, ON, Canada writes: "This recipe was given to my grandparents by a spunky 90 year old (or should I say young) opera singer one day while he was digging in his garden. He valued his voice greatly and refused to take any "modern medications" that might numb his throat instead of heal it.
Recipe: 1 Lemon, Good Cold Pressed Olive Oil, Honey (optional). Go around the lemon - poking it with a fork and then put it in the oven (350') until juice bubbles out the holes. Cool. Squeeze the lemon and put the juice in a jar. Add an equal amount of olive oil. Add some honey if you like. SHAKE! Take a small spoonful now and again - like a lozenge."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 08/10/2009: Linda from Lincoln City, Oregon writes: "I have been dealing with candida mostly in my digestive track for 9-10 years now.In November of 2008 I had to take an antibotic for a surgery procedure at the time which I had an allergec reaction to.Well ever sense then I have had on and off a presistant extremely sore throat. I follow a fairly strict candiad diet outlined in Dr Crooks book. I had a white pustule in the upper left side of the throat.I knew it was due to the fungi in my system so I began a more aggressive program to treet it.I purchased Candida ___ from ___ ____.After taking this for 4-5 days I woke up with a crick in the upper right side of my neck (extremely painful) After a week and still taking it I became much worse (I had to sleep in my husbands recliner for probably 1 1/2 months)I went to see my ND Susan ___ who after looking me over said that the pain center manifesting in my upper right shoulder/neck was my gall bladder maridean. Susan asked what I had been taking lately. I happened to have some Candida ___ with me, she went over the ingredents and with some testing discovered I'd had an allergic reaction to the oregano in the Candida ___.
Needless to say I quit taking that but it took about another month before my system completly cleared and I could sleep in bed again.Ykes!! What do I do now? Finally able to get back on the computer I have sense started taking, Caprylic acid, Olive Leaf extract and Trifala all 3 times a day with other supplements.Took these for 2 months still not much relief. Went on the cave man diet (which constipated me but helped some)At the same time though I was using 1/2 tsp sodium bicarbonate in 1/2 glass water 3 times a day. The sore throat left WOOHOO. I stopped the soda and the sore throat came back in 3 days with a vengence in spite of taking the my supplements. I made up a Turmeric paste used it like a losenge (some relief).
Back to the computer I came across Dr.Simonsini (cancer is a fungus) again. In one of his statements he said he administered sodium bicarbonate by injeation or aresol. HUMMM I have a nebulizer so this is what I did. Mixed 1/4 cup boiled then cooled water to 1 tsp.sodium bicarbonate mix well.I filled up my nebulizer cup with the mixture, turned it on, started breathing the mixture and simply could hardly believe the YUCK THAT CAME OUT OF ME. I usually use collodial silver in the nebulizer but I tell ya the soda mixture worked 100 times better than silver did!!! The first go round I filled the nebulizer cup up twice and just kept getting rid of YUCK. I did this twice yesterday and two times today and doing much better. (I had no idea I had so much infection) I thought it was just a sore throat. I will only use it again tommorrow if the throat flares up. I am also drinking 1/2 tsp soda with some lime now that I found this wonderful site.THIS WAS THE MOST INCREDABLE EXPECTORANT I HAVE EVER USED!!!!!!!!"
Replies05/11/2010: Tina from Bowling Green, Ohio, Usa replies: "Are you sure you used that much baking soda and water? My nebulizer only holds maybe a table spoon or so of liquid and takes a long time to nebulize what I put in it. It would take a very long time to breath in that much mixture! Please respond soon.Thanks."

BLACK CURRANTS
Ratings:
|
[YEA] 03/18/2005: Christine from London writes: "The Lemon and Honey tea worked but only for around half an hour. I have a cure which lasts longer: Crush black currants to get the juice out but try not to get any of the skin in with the juice. Put it in a mug and heat it until it is is hot, but not so hot you cannot drink it. Then just drink your sore throat away! If you are rushed for time then you could use a store bought blackcurrant juice drink such as Ribeana, which works just as well. The soothing is quite long lasting but depending on how bad your sore throat/laryngitis is you may need to have more than one mug. (YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY AS YOU NEED AS IT IS NOT MEDICINE BASED)."

[YEA] 08/21/2007: Cheska from Dahab, Egypt writes: "This is the most amazing cure! when i got throat infections they would then travel into my lungs and then only antibiotics would cure it, but recently my homeopath told me to make a cup of very strong black tea (2 teaspoons of tea in 2/3 cup of boiling water) then add 1/3 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice, when it has cooled a little gargle half the cup, try keep gargling each mouthful for a long time and as deep in your throat as possible then spit all of it out down sink. repeat with other half of cup a few hours later and then again with a fresh cup a few hours after that, you will see the sore throat disappear!"

BLUEBERRIES

[YEA] 11/23/2009: Maribel from El Paso, Tx writes: "****** BLUBERRIES SOOTH A SORE THROAT ON CONTACT***
This was purely trial and error.
I woke up with a terribly sore and scratchy throat yesterday morning. I'd already read about the benefits of gargling with ACV and warm water and honey... I had also seen other approaches at combatting a sore throat...
But none seemed to offer a temporary natural pain relief -- and Voila! I stumbled upon this one purely by surprise.
I was too tired to go to the supermarket to buy cough drops or whatever, so I looked to my freezer and fridge and pantry for any source of antioxidants i could consume to get rid of this cold altogether.
I found a bag of frozen blueberries that i had their to make smoothies. Well, I allowed these blueberries to thaw from their frozen state. Then as i was watching t.v. I was just scooping these berries (now at room temperature in my mouth) hey, good source of vitamin C and antioxidants, right?
WELL ... to my surprise not even 10 minutes later my sore throat was GONE. I KID YOU NOT!
GONE GONE GONE. I finally decided to do an internet search under blueberries and sore throats, and apparently they have proven to soothe sore throats (who woulda thought??)
Take it from me, it worked even much faster than an Ibuprofen, or an analgasec would. Hooray for Blueberries!!! "

CARROT JUICE
Ratings:
|
[YEA] 06/10/2008: Hope from Inverness, FL writes: "The best way to get rid of a sore throat is to drink fresh carrot juice (as much as possible) and within a day or two, it should be gone. You can buy it at your local health store or juice the carrots yourself if you have a juicer. The problem with this, however, is it can be costly and time consuming (if you are using a juicer). So here is another option that I do a lot (and also use it for my daughter). I use a homeopathic "cold remedy". You can buy it at your local health store or buy it online. You have to follow the instructions just like it says. Sometimes, you have to take the "pill" once every 2 hours and sometimes it will be once every 15 minutes until it subsides... and then an hour or two thereafter till it goes away. For me, the homeopathic cold remedy works usually within 2 days... but again, you need to be religious about taking the pills.

CASTOR OIL PACKS
Ratings:
|
[YEA] Morgan from Vancouver writes: "If I am getting a sore throat, I find that doing a castor oil pack on my throat works very well. Usually what i do is before I go to bed, I spread the castor oil on my throat and neck, tie a flannel scarf around my neck, and dose off. My sore throat is gone by morning, and I notice that this also greatly reduces the swelling of my lymph glands on my neck. Bon chance!"

[WORKED TEMPORARILY] 12/29/2011: Nikoo from Chronic Coast, California Usa writes: "I dont like doctors/hospitals and avoid at all costs. I have had a terrible misreable sore throat for almost a week. Felt like daggers when I swallowed.
Tried Cayenne pepper in warm water, cayenne in tea w lemon and honey, cayenne on my mashed potatoes, ACV cayenne lemon honey in hot water -- NOTHING WORKED. I had temporary relieve but sore throat would just not vanish. I think the remedies helped because I was hacking up all kinds of mucus but the pain did not go away. So finally as a last resort I went to see a doctor and she told me I had strep throat -- unfortantly this homeopathic cure could not overcome that kind of infection.
So I rate this remedy as a Kind of worked/temporary relief.
Will try again if I get a sore throat and post results then."
Replies[WORKED TEMPORARILY] 01/04/2012: Davers84 from Mattoon, Il replies: "I have to admit I'm a bit surprised this was going to even work. But after reading all these responses, I figured the worst that would happen was I was going to throw up (which didn't happen). This remedy worked for me for about 6 hours. My throat has been like daggers though for the past 5 days, so it may be more sore than most that have been using this. However, it did numb the pain for some time and I was able to eat comfortably. It did come back later though. And gargling more pepper water didn't do the trick. Since I was unable to eat a normal meal, I went out and bought two big cans of chicken noodle soup. I had always heard to eat this stuff when you are feeling sick. And I have to say, this worked better than the pepper water. I ate both cans (that's A LOT of soup but it worked for me) and more throat feels like it's back to normal and it's been about 8 hours now. Guess I'll find out tomorrow morning if it comes back or not.
So the cayenne pepper water does work, but only as a temporary relief for me. I can see it working for a minor sore throat completely though :)"

[YEA] 12/24/2011: Jufycoop from Mahwah, Nj, Usa writes: "I had sinus surgery 5 days ago and woke up from recovery with severe throat trauma from the intubation. My uvula was swollen to 4 times it's normal size, was covered with a white film, and the back of my throat felt like it had been sliced with razors. The sore throat pain has been so bad I could not eat, drink or even swallow saliva without tears. When I went to my first post- op visit yesterday, the Dr said the trauma will heal on its own and there was nothing that could be done. I found this website and believed from the other posts that the cayenne gargle could work for me. I tried 1/4 t cayenne, 1/4 t salt, a little honey and warm water and gargled 6 times over a half hour. The pain subsided enough for me to eat small salad!! I just gargled again 2 times and looked at the uvula, which is shrinking! Thank you everyone for your posts."

Replies12/22/2011: Donald from Mount Sterling, Oh Usa replies: "Will Cayenne pepper capsules cure the sore throat? Can you take the medicine out of the capsules and mix with water and drink it that way? Or gargle with it?"
12/23/2011: Francisca from Zug, Zug, Switzerland replies: "Donald, cayenne pepper in the capsules must be the same you use in the kitchen, it is not a medicine as such! You can buy the powder in the supermarket or in an Indian shop, for example, and it will cost a lot less! Be careful taking those capsules as when you take the powder, or better, mix it with your food your stomach is already expecting it when it goes down as it felt the heat first in the mouth. If you take the capsule the stomach gets a punch when it finally arrives and that can leave you feeling really bad!"
12/24/2011: Kat from Comox, Bc replies: "I also have used cayenne. I found out it is best and recommended to pre mix the powder in warm water and drink, this way you avoid any stomach issues from a capsules dissolving in the stomach. It has so many uses... There's a book called " Left For Dead ' -anyone who is having heart issues, it's a great read."

[YEA] 11/26/2011: Miki from Laporte, Indiana writes: "One and a half hours ago. My husband read on your site about cayenne for sore throat. I was desperate for relief. I have used 2 teaspoon of cayenne to a cup of water every 15 minutes wow I am about 90% better already. Thanks to all who submitted this."
Replies[YEA] 12/02/2011: Shelaine from Vancouver, Washington replies: "Ok, this is working for me so far... Just tried it with 1t. In 8oz warm water. Did the gargle/swallowing the spit method. My only little issue is now my lips are on fire! I recommend some lip balm/petro jelly on thick before the gargle if your lips are sensitive or chapped."
[YEA] 12/10/2011: Rachel from Bexley, Ohio replies: "The first time I tried gargling with cayenne pepper and water was two years ago when I had the worst sore throat of my life. It was 10 days. The doctor gave me antibiotics for strep throat even though the rapid strep test came back negative because she thought that it HAD to be strep. Well, it wasn't. The antibiotics did nothing, and my sore throat went on. It was difficult to sleep, to swallow, to eat. It felt like I had an open cut in my mouth--I'm not sure how to describe it. I was up in the middle of the night and found this site. I immediately tried it, and amazingly, it was the one gargle--the one thing--that brought me any relief. I kept doing it--and trying to let the pepper water get as low in my throat as I could. I would inhale the pepper sometimes and choke and spit it all out, but I was right at the kitchen sink and bound and determined to get rid of the pain. No exaggeration--within 1 day of gargling--the pain was gone. Not diminished--but gone. Now this time around when I got a killer sore throat, the only thing I'm using to gargle is cayenne pepper. I just warm up a glass of water and add as much cayenne as it can handle. I keep swirling it around to keep it from settling. The burn goes into a tingle and into a numbing. I love it. Such relief. Yeah, cayenne pepper!!"

[YEA] 11/22/2011: Davemomusic from Philadelphia, Pa writes: "I know I'm one more log on the fire for Cayenne but as a singer with a gig coming up, it was really important to me to get rid of my sore throat. I tried the whiskey and that numbed my throat but it didn't cure it, and I didn't want to repeat it because even with the gargle, I found it went in through my mouth's pores (slight buzz). So I tried gargling the cayenne, but I really think that the drinking of the cayenne was the best. I ended up putting it in my water bottle and drinking it throughout the day. What it did best was open my throat temporarily and clear my sinuses. As the post-nasal drip disappeared, so did the sore throat. It also helped as I was teaching too. I was able to be my normal volume without losing my voice. Started drinking it Wednesday night and through Friday, by the time of the gig, I was great! Oh, and the name-brand stuff worked just fine for me."

I put a teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a coffee cup, then poured warm water into the cup to fill it up. Gargled that mix every 15 minutes and a hour later my sore throat was gone. It was a bit hot, but went away after 2-3 minutes.I was surprised at how well it worked and even more surprising to me is that after being awake coughing all night and have now lost my voice my sore throat has not come back, totally amazed.
Now waiting on the stores to open to go and purchase some apple cider vinegar and hoping that works as well for a cough as cayenne did for my throat."
02/03/2012: Cheryl from Ladysmith, Bc, Canada replies: "I have had a cursed sore throat for over a week now on one side. It is all the way down to beside my voice box, or so it feels. I just went through putting one heaping tsp. of hot Cayenne Pepper with lemon and salt, I made a paste and poured a cup of hot water, added a little to cool it and proceeded to gargle, gag, spit and swallow.... Lovely... Yuck... But if I get relief, yay me. Cleared my sinuses so far and is already starting to feel better.. I woke up two days ago with a sore throat and as my day at work went on it kept getting worse. It would also be my 5th sore throat this summer, which I had taken a lot of antibiotics for. But the second I got home from work, I looked on the internet for any cures, and stumbled upon this. I felt it was my last option.
To my surprise I put 1 teaspoon of cayenne in a glass of warm water with a pinch of salt, gargled and then repeated a few hours later. I was sooooooo septical but it seriously worked! My throat was 99% better the next day! I am so extremely amazed! Thanks!"

08/29/2011: David from Albuquerque, New Mexico writes: "Just learned about this remedie today. I have had a very bad sore throat for about four days. Went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a bacterial infection. My sore throat was very bad. I had not been able to eat anything for three days because the throat pain was so bad. The pain has been so bad that I have been unable to even swallow my saliva. I hadn't been able to get a full night of sleep. My sore throat has never hurt this bad. I got me a cup of water and mixed it with red cayenne pepper and a little bit of salt. I gargled several times and kept spitting it out. I did swallow my saliva after gargling. My throat started feeling better about 15 minutes later and the excruciating sore throat was gone after about an hour and a half. I still felt a little soreness but I am amazed at how well this worked. I can tell you it wasn't that bad and didn't taste bad either. It definately worked for me and I hope it will work for you"
