08/03/2012: Michelle from Lawrenceville, Ga, Usa: "Has any one has uterine ebolization done? I am thinking of having one done. I have had a fibroid removed and it came back like years ago. Now its as big as a cantaloupe. I need help to decide which better way to cure it without surgery. Or some remedies that will help me get rid of it. My Doctor said it is pushing my bladder and kidney. Please help."Replies
08/05/2012: Ketan from Mumbai, Maharashtra replies: "go for acv black strap molassess to cure naturally. U can find more information in earthclinic post"
08/09/2012: Michelle from Lawrenceville, Ga, Usa replies: "Hello Ketan from mumbai, thank you for replying. I really want to try the ACV and BSM. Can you please be specific about the mixture of the ACV and BSM? And also how many times a day, and do you take it before meals or after? Michelle."
08/13/2012: Lisa from Dallas, Tx, Usa replies: "To Michelle from Lawrenceville: The dosage for the ACV and BSM treatments varies, but the amounts I've seen mentioned most often are to take up to 2 Tablespoons of Unsulphured Blackstrap Molasses (not regular molasses like Grandmas or Brer Rabbit -- very important). You can take it with your ACV or with something else, depends on how you tolerate the flavor. Some people (including me) recommend working up to the 2 Tbsp/day to avoid digestive issues -- start with 1 tsp and work up from there over a couple of days or so.
The recommended amount of Apple Cider Vinegar varies, too -- anywhere from 1 to 2 Tablespoons once or twice a day.
I take one shot glass (about 2 Tbsp) of ACV in an 8oz glass of water with 1 Tablespoon of UBSM mixed in, twice a day. I drink the first glass first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I have my second glass after dinner. How much you take really depends on how well you tolerate the taste. I don't mind the taste, but a lot of people do. See the BSM topics here for other suggestions.
I use Unsulphured Blackstrap Molasses and Apple Cider Vinegar "with the Mother". (ACV needs to be unfiltered & natural for best results -- thus "the mother".)
I found it interesting that right on the label for the ACV they have a "health drink" recipe that combines the ACV and UBSM.
I get the UBSM from Sprouts (Sunflower) Natural Food Store -- I think you can also get it from Whole Foods if you have one of those. Also check online sources Netrition and amazon.com.
I get my ACV from my regular grocery store (Tom Thumb/Safeway here in Dallas), but Sprouts also carries it.
If you want to read up more on both the ACV and BSM treatments here are the threads on this site. That's where I got started -- a lot of very good info here. The BSM ACV seems to be helping so far, but I've only been doing it about a month at this point.

03/06/2013: Michelle from Lawrenceville, Ga, Usa replies: "Lisa from Dallas, Tx, Usa - I have been doing the Blackstrap Molasses and Apple Cider Vinegar on and off. But it seems it has been working pretty good so far. No more heavy bleeding and I have more energy. I like to know if I have to continue during my monthly cycle, because I have been stopping drinking during my cycle. Thanks Michelle"
07/06/2012: Fynk from Cebu, Cebu: "Hi good day to all, I came across to this website some few days ago and just the same with the rest of you here I am currently diagnosed with fibroids which is intramural that means it is inside my uterus although I am asymptomatic but I have heavy bleeding but not much of the cramps, as of right now I am on a monthly hormonal injection called luprolex. Anybody had this type of treatment before? Pls give me some feedback. I want to try ACV but I want to know if there are contraindications when taking this remedy. I really want my fibroids to shrink and I am going to try any possibility as long as it is not hysterectomy and also I want to know when is the best time to take it- before or after meals and how many minutes before or after you eat? pls send me some tips so I can do it the right way. Thanks so much."
06/12/2012: Sharon32843@yahoo.com from Los Angeles, United States: "Sharon, I live in los angeles and am glad to know. I am not alone in this fibroid tumor battle. I could not become pregnant because of this fibroid condition. I too refuse to get a hysterectomy and still refuse. I just had a pap march and an ultrasound. The fibroids has gotten larger. I did buy flax seed plus. I am fifty one and have been battling this problem since I was thirty three years old. I appreciate Ted sharing this vital information. My fibroids block my uterus. I want to thank everyone for there input and testimony. I will lift all of us up in prayer. I wanted at least two children. It never happened. I am the only one in my family with no children. I love children. I am right there with you ladies."
01/02/2012: Victoria from Morris, Illinois, Usa: "I'm 43 and found out about 5/6 years ago I had a 1" cm tumor in my uterus and every year I had my physical and complained of heavy bleeding and abdominal pain. And my doctor never ordered anymore test ultra sounds ect. So this last summer I insisted and she had her nurse call to tell me it grew and to see the gynecolgist she reffered and do whatever he says. The gynecologist himself called me and said it grew and there were now multiple tumors and my uterus is enlarged becasue of it. So we're trying to reduce the size with birth control pills but he's almost positive they can't just be removed I may need a hysterectomy.
Now I'm furious because my own doctor could have watched them and I could have caught them in time for just the tumor to be removed now it's too late.
I wanted to know if this is medical neglect or not?"
09/02/2011: Michelleq from London, Uk: "hello,
i saw people using the mixture of beets and carrots and non alcoholic wine for cysts and fibroids- I just want to clarify, is it beetleaves (green) or red beet.. Many thanks"Replies
09/05/2011: Lily from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia replies: "Hi Michelleq, the red beet is the one you use. Lily."
12/27/2009: Christina from Albuquerque, Nm: "Fibroids: Tampons & Pads
Regarding Tampons and Pads: Ladies all tampons and pads are bleached with CHLORINE unless you are buying organic/non-bleached natural cotton items.
Chlorine is very toxic it creates a by-product Dioxin which is harmful and linked to cancer and tumors (google it). You can buy cotton items at any natural health food store or online (they are expensive but worth it). I would recommend buying these especially for women with Fibroids."
09/24/2009: Aries36 from Knoxville, Tn: "Hi ladies, i'm thankful for you all and hearing your stories let me feel connected to a sista hood of women whom i've never met who is experiencing the same as i am so now i don't feel so all alone with this dreadful medical problem!I just want my life back and this is taking my body over daily. It makes me not even want to have a sexual relationship with my husband cause i feel like a good-year blimp! I take the avc with the (Mother) in it and the bsm and i do get relief from both. The avc does help control your weight but my question to you ladies is:
How long must we stay on these short term remedy? 4EVER... EVERYDAY TAKING THESE SHORT TERM REMEDIES THE WILL NEVER GIVE US A COMPLETE SOLUTION?? I hate the fact that when we give birth 2 bring beautiful kids into the world after that our bodies go through SOOOOOOOO... MUCH AND MEN HAVE NO ISSUES AT ALL!!
I'm just 36 and i feel like my life is OVER dealing with this crap. Doctor's always want to cut on us so we can go into menopause early and have to go to them for more medical issues and bills.. this is how they make their money. Anyway, to the point @ hand. I did find out that having the partial hysterectomy will allow them not to return because by having it done they want grow back because the uterus wall allows them to reattach to something, by removing it..there's nothing 4 them to grow on because there's nothing there. I still don't know what to do even with that info because i'm scared of early menopause. Someone please give me your input."
EC: You don't mention your ailment, but we think you are referring to fibroids...
09/24/2009: Kathy from Dubois, Pa replies: "I had fibroids, too, if that is what your problem is. If they are not causing you too much of a problem...in other words, if they are more of a nuisance than an actual health problem...the best solution is to just wait them out, because they shrink and go away on their own after menopause. At 36, you are not too young to be having peri-menopausal signs and symptoms. To cut down on the bleeding, try taking bioflavanoids and Vitamin K-2. And if they are not life-threatening, DO NOT let the doctor cut on you. Peri-menopause is a time when women start to get anovulatory cycles and become estrogen dominant, so do not take any supplements or eat anything that contains phytoestrogens because it will only make the problem worse by adding to your over-all estrogen burden. You also might want to check your thyroid status, because low thyroid can cause heavy bleeding, too."
09/29/2008: Mya from Los Angeles, USA: "I passed out and hit my head on the bed, because I lost so much blood. I went to the hospital in an ambulance. My doctor did a new procedure and a DNC. There was a girl there who was 16 years old who had her fibroids removed, how is this possible? I was so scared, but I came through, by the grace of God. I tried all of it and it didn't work."
09/05/2007: Joan from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea: "I wish I knew what I was suffering from for 10 years then I would have gone on herbs but I was past that as I was fainting from lack of blood from severe bleeding and my womb prolapsed with the fibroids. I thought I had a heart problem as the symtoms was high blood pressure. I am now well and living with my scars as I also had T/L. So it is healthy living and stress free life for me."
[YEA] 07/05/2009: Bonnie from Hamilton, Ontario: "Fibriods: Hey All, I have tried everything, bsm and all. I read on and found that coffee that has caffeine has alot to do with it, I drank coffee every day, when I read that it wasn't good for you making your estrogen go hay wire, I decided to stop! I try something that I have read on here what someone else wrote, and I swear by it!! I had heavy periods and the whole thing. Believe me!! So I decided to try what that person wrote, and I did, It was grapes & bing Cherries!! It's been over a year and my periods are normal, and no more heavy bleeding and no more blood clots. I swear my this thing. My blood count is up & my red blood cells are ok now. So 3 things to remember: No more coffee and eat grapes & cherries!! And you'll be ok, at least I am. My doctor wanted me to go for a hysteromy, but in the mean time I decide to try the grapes & cherries, no more heavy periods & clots, they are normal now. Maybe it's a conscience, not sure but something helped me, and I eat them every day!! And I'm fine now. :) Hope this helps someone, because I know I was desperate!!!"Replies
07/06/2009: Vina from Powdersprings, Ga replies: "Are you eating regular grapes red, purple or green. And just any type of cherries. How much do you eat a day. Thanks for the info."
07/08/2009: Bonnie from Hamilton, Canada replies: "Vina from GA: I eat any kind of grapes, and snack on about 12 a day."
[YEA] 04/23/2008: crystal from any town, United States: "I tried grapeseed extract for menstrual flooding associated with fibroids. I took 3 - 90 mg tablets 4 times a day and my menstrual was the closest to normal it's been in years. Also mother tried it for the same problem and was well pleased! I am happy!"Replies
[YEA] 06/08/2008: Karling from Los Angeles, CA replies: "Well, Let me first say, I've had fibroids and ovarian cysts for over 7 years. They have progressively gotten worse and worse as far as heavy clotting periods, PMS, and weight gain. Basically my life revolves around my periods. I don't "do" western medicine so I only go to the doctor to find out what's going on. I'm also a vegetarian. My job is that of performer, so I've had to be meticulous about scheduling shows around my cycle. I'm so excited right now I had to share this immediately. It's early days, I'm only into day 4 of my period, but the change has been incredible. For a whole week before my period I did castor oil packs over where I consider the fibroids are. I rented movies, and spent every evening for about an hour and a half with the pack on my belly, and a heating pad over the area. Also, from the first day of my period I've been taking 2 (100mg) grapeseed extract tablets 3 times a day. They give me a bit of lose stool, but that's the least of my problems after all the bleeding I've endured over the years. Ok the report is: So far my bleeding has been cut in half, if not even more. A few very small clots, as apposed to huge clots. I feel different. I don't feel exhausted, and I'm thinking a miracle has happened to me. I don't know if it's the grape seed or the packs, but I am going to continue this procedure. I'm not sure how often I should do the packs, but I read in this forum that the grapeseed should be done only during your period to keep it's potency on your system. Oh, also something else. I had been taking BSM for over a year, (no decrease in bleeding, but other very good effects) and I read on this forum that House of Herbs had the most iron, so I orderd a whole case of it.. but the label is very sparse, and I think it might be sulfured, and that is not good because it thins the blood, so the only other thing I've changed is that I've cut OUT the sulfured BSM. I will update as I find out more, but right now I'm extremely happy. Day 4 and it's been a walk in the park!!!"
[NAY] 02/13/2012: Maria from Baltimore, Md, Usa: "A hysterectomy may lead to a prolapse about 5-10 years down the road. The uterus is not just there for holding a fetus; it's very important in helping support the abdominal organs such as the intestines and the bladder. The abdominal organs stay in place due to a network of ligaments and pelvic floor muscles. When the uterus is removed as in a hysterectomy, this support system is greatly weakened and so these other organs have a lot less support, and tend to fall down or move into spaces they normally don't. (please google images) If you have a partial hysterectomy, the top of the vagina could fall down; sometimes the bladder herniates and sometimes the bowel moves into places it should not- all these lead to more surgeries down the road.
Interestingly, when my OB suggested hysterectomy to me for my fibroids, I do not remember her saying one single word about a prolapse down the road. I wonder if she is shilling for the OB surgeon. It's also possible that prolapse happens more often if you have a weak pelvic floor to begin with; but, as a woman ages, her ligaments and muscles get weaker anyhow, and chances of prolapse get higher even if she has a normal pelvic floor. I do not want to contribute to that by having a hysterectomy- not if my fibroid symptoms aren't that bad."Replies
03/08/2012: Terri from White Plains, Maryland replies: "Maria, Thank you so much for putting this important information out. I have had many doctors tell me that I didn't need my uterus because I wasn't having anymore children. I felt who were they to tell me that I didn't need my uterus. As a woman I just feel that this is what makes you a woman and why should we let someone take that away if not necessary. If someone faces an emergency situation then they may not be able to avoid it, but otherwise, keep your uterus."
02/25/2013: Kitti from Sterling, Tx: "How does the Iodine paint for fibroids work? If Ted is there to answer would be wonderful. Not many posts about it. What I have understood after reading the research parers of Dr. S on iodine is that the Table salt in the U.S. has iodide in it and no iodine. Thus if we want to start taking the Lugol's for fibroids it will have both Iodine and Iodide too in it. So what should be the strength of Lugol's to start with and what dosage should be good for our bodies. My age is 40 and have 2 fibroids 2cms. Causing heavy bleeding with clots."Replies
02/25/2013: Bill from San Fernando, Philippines replies: "Hi Kitti... The strength of lugols iodine should be 5% but nowadays it is sold at only 2%. Therefore dosages will be different for 5% LI and 2% LI. You will need a minimum of 8 drops 5% LI to achieve a recommended dose of 50 mgs iodine to help cure fibroids and breast cysts. For 2% LI you will need 20 drops to achieve a 50 mgs dose. These dosages should be split into individual doses of 2 - 4 drops per individual dose. You can also use Iodoral(tablet form of lugols iodine) to achieve the 50 mg dose.
Here is some research on the effectiveness of iodine against breast cysts and fibroids:
If you take lugols iodine -- then the full Iodine Protocol should be taken to avoid problems -- shown here:
02/26/2013: Deonva from Southbroom, Kzn South Africa replies: "@Kitti - you need to start slowly - 2 drops of 5% Lugols iodine 2 x per day in water - then work up to 4 drops 2 x per day. Even more, depending on your particular iodine deficiency status. It will take around 2 months for your body to have all it needs, at which time lower the dosage to 4 drops per day.
Iodine deficiency is one of the greatest health risks today, and can cause many ailments and dread disease. It will benefit all to supplement with iodine (Lugol's solution) permanently in low dosages, once saturation is achieved.
02/27/2013: Linda from New Haven, Ct, United States replies: "Bill, the 5% solution of Lugol's is still available. I purchase mine online at jcrows."
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 11/06/2010: Margaret from Somewhere, Iowa: "I have a 10cm fibroid (or did a month ago) I started painting iodine (inexpensive tincture of iodine, the kind you put on cuts) on my skin twice a day. About a 2 inch square patch in different places once in am, once in pm. I used to lie down and feel this large hard lump on my right side. It never went away. I have awful periods with horrible pain. This is why I went to emergency where they did ultrasound and found the 10cm fibroid. This was a month ago. I've tried so much to get rid of this thing and spent so much. Progesterone made it bigger. DIM helped with breast tenderness before period but did nothing else. Enzymes, nothing. Vitamins, ridding myself of detergents and lotions, etc. Did not help. My head spun when I read all the herbs and diets and supplements people were taking to get rid of their fibroids.
Then I read extensive writings about iodine. I bought a couple bottles and started painting it on my skin. A mere two weeks later and I can't feel the bump anymore. There is a fibroid yet though. I can feel a smaller lump very far down a little right of pubic bone, but where is the rest of it? At night when my bladder is full and I lay on my back I can feel the fibroid but about a third as big. Remember, it's only been two weeks. I do nothing more. I take iron because I lose so much blood each month. I randomly take a B-complex or cod liver oil or other vitamin pills just because I have so many that I bought to help get rid of this thing. But I don't take anything regularly. It's been about 5 years since my periods started getting bad. I'm waiting for the first one since iodine and am hopeful. (actually I started iodine 2 days before period. The pain killers were cut by one third-perhaps just a coincidence)
How could something like iodine shrink my fibroid so quickly? I truly am afraid to hope. But hope I will. And I will return to let you know how it works. Good luck to all dealing with these things and God help speed your recovery."
11/07/2010: Margaret from Somewhere, Iowa replies: "I forgot to say I have been drinking all my water with a little lemon in it. This might be helping the shrinking the fibroids but I don't know. Maybe a combination? Just wanted to add that in case it is important."
11/07/2010: Ellen from Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada replies: "Prescription drugs are not the answer. I eliminated my fibroid tumors with Vitamin B6 and kelp. Iodine is extremely important in the diet and almost everyone's diet is so deficient in this particular mineral, but how your add it to your diet is equally as important as the mineral itself. What most people do not understand is that minerals are meant to be bound together in a natural form that the body can easily absorb and utilize. This does not mean saturating it with one mineral alone; this will put the body in balance for a very short time and then unbalance it just as quickly once the body is over saturated which will make you equally as sick as when your started. The answer is to put minerals into your body in a safe form which of course is food. Kelp, especially Laminaria digitata. It's so safe and very effective in curing disease especially of the thyroid and it will also heal your fibroids. Disease is a mineral deficiency. Kelp is so full of minerals that the body can pick and choose exactly what it needs and absorb it quickly which of course is very healing. Laminaria digitata is very high in iodine and you can eat as much of it as you want for the rest of your life and will never over saturate yourself as it is a food and the body will only choose to absorb the iodine if is is in need. The best way to heal is always through your diet. If you want to heal extra fast please use my alkalizing drink. I always take 1/2 tsp of Laminaria digitata kelp on the side of this drink by spoon. I just down it with the drink. The drink is:
1 cup of water or there abouts. 1 tblspn of unsulphered blackstrap molasses
1 tsp of turmeric
1 lemon, freshly squeezed to make sure you have the anions from the lemon which are very alkalizing. 4-6 drops of stevia. Not all stevias are created equal and some are just as toxic as aspertame. Stir it well and drink. This drink is anticancer, antiinflamatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal. It is extremely health promoting and healing. It is a drink and you should have once a day at least and more if you are in poor health. Good luck and I truly hope you try my recommendations as it has made such a drastic improvement in my own health and others, that I know it will help you if you give it a chance."
03/25/2011: Daisy from Chicago, Il, Us replies: "Dear Margarate, After reading your successful story, I am feeling well little bit. Most of the reviews I saw here are for stopping heavy bleeding. I have multiple fibroids & the worst part is my uterus size has enlarged to 17 cm lentgh wise. I am so worried because we are yet to plan for kids. I have painful periods for a day & I don't have any other problems during the cycle. I want to know how you applied tincture of iodine as a patch. Please let me know any other things that you tried and think will work. I am really desperate to get rid of this and have a baby. Thanks."
03/27/2011: Daisy from Chicago, Il replies: "Can you please let me know the complete name of Iodine that you have used. I bought Apothecary Iodine Tincture 2% U. SP (Walgreens brand). Since I have multiple fibroids I want to try most effective one. Anyone please let me know."
03/27/2011: Lisa from Rabat, Morocco replies: "Daisy, I don't think iodine tincture would be enough iodine for something like fibroids. When you paint it on your skin much of it evaporates anyway. You might want to look into iodine that you can take internally, like lugol's solution or the pill form called Iodoral. These can be purchased online, but with the situation in Japan many sites are sold out. Have you looked into balancing your estrogen, since too much is a cause of fibroids? You could try something called DIM and also progesterone cream. I also have fibroids and just recently purchased Iodoral. I am first doing the liver/kidney cleanse that Bill recommends before I start the iodine to help with any detox symptoms. There is an iodine forum on yahoo groups that has a lot of good information about supplementing with iodine and the other supplements that need to be taken along with iodine. Best of luck to you with your health."
07/18/2011: Christina from Ann Arbor, Mi replies: "I was reading these comments with interest. I've been taking Iodoral (2 tablets/day) for almost a year, but no real change in fibroid. I'm wondering if my body flushes out some of it, so it doesn't get full benefit. That's why I'm revisiting the iodine painting. Maybe if you apply it directly to the body it will be absorbed better? I don't know. I do know that castor oil and iodine act as liver detox, and that's why the fibroids shrink, theoretically, because the iodine helps the liver get rid of the toxins in your body (bad estrogen included).
Excess estrogen contributes to the increase in fibroid size. The average physician doesn't make the connection, nor does h/she make the connection between progesterone and fibroids. If you have large fibroids, you're supposed to avoid the following : progesterone cream, estrogen in any form, DHEA, licorice, yam, black cohosh. Progesterone cream may make small fibroids shrink, but larger ones seem to love progesterone.
It seems that hormone imbalance/deficiency is the root cause of fibroids, beginning w/ thyroid dysfunction. There are probably other causes that contribute to this, but this seems to be the primary reason women entering perimenopause are susceptible to them. A balanced diet can help stave off further growth, but I'm not sure that it will shrink them. It seems that liver detox support is the most likely solution, in addition to correcting the underlying problem. Get your hormone levels checked, esp. thyroid. A simple blood test may not show deficiency. If you have the symptoms, you most likely have a thyroid problem. You can take your temp for 7 days beginning the second day of your menstrual cycle. If it's consistently low, you've most likely a problem. Again, theoretically, once the thyroid is balanced, the other stuff should follow suit.... But, liver detox is something you can do now w/o a problem. Also, check your adrenal function. If that's off, it can cause all the other stuff to "fall" like dominos."
11/26/2011: Avocadobanana from London, Uk replies: "Margaret from Somewhere, Iowa, did you find out for sure whether your fibroid shrank, (with a scan)? That would be great if it did, and it would give me some hope at least!
I have a fibroid uterus, the size of a 10 week pregnancy. Most distressing is the large fibroid that's pressing on my bladder and causing all sorts of bladder and urethra pain/spasms.
I am desperate for a natural remedy as I don't want to have surgery, and have been painting iodine for the last week or so. I'm also drinking lemon water, and have just started molasses (2 teaspoons), each morning.
I've read a few posts that say painting iodine shouldn't help, as your body absorbs so little of the iodine with this method, and it's not worth doing. Is this true?
So far I haven't noticed any difference, but I know it's really early days. I expect it to take more than two weeks for me, as I just have so many fibroids and have had them for a long time.
Has anybody else had luck with iodine painting? Did it work, and how long did it take?"
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 07/20/2009: ThegirlHedumped from Okinawa, Hawaii: "Iodine is working with enzymes to shrink my uterine fibroids. You poor thing you don't know if you have uterine fibroids, is your gut getting fat, but not necessarily the rest of you? Did anyone ask you if you were pregnant? there should did me, my man upset with me because of this drastic change said, "everyday's a vacation for you lying around" At that time we didn't know I was suffering from fibroids. Even super model Beverly Johnson said it took her 4 years for proper diagnosis! Are you weak bladdered? menstrual cycles heavy and long term, with clots in the maxipad-fatigued aneamic? hormonal, libidoless? stressed, constipated? Fibroids push down or up on other organs, causing organs not to function properly. You are tired but don't know why, your family sees you have changed but cannot help, the doctors misdiagnose you. B-Vitamins deficiency, Iodine deficiency can lead to Cystic Breasts (lumpy) and uterine Fibroids. This is probably the 4th year of my battle, and having just learned in late June/July of 2009 I feel alive again.
