I have been oil pulling for almot a week now and today I have noticed my stools are very light in color. Not quite white, but light tan. I understand how the gall bladder works, do I have a blockage in the ducts?

I have read in several places that oil pulling helps to activate our bile. If this is true, what do you think about taking a psyllium drink before or after oil pulling to "grab" the bile in the bowel and further assist its removal?

If you are oil pulling, you might also want to start scraping your tongue with an ayurvedic copper tongue scraper. These are sold at health food stores. They also help eliminate bacteria in the mouth.

I am researching oil pulling to see if it will help my teeth become firm again but I'm worried about the detoxing affect it will have on me. I am on bio identical hormone pellet injections as well as a nightly progesterone liquid that is placed under my toungue at bed time. Will oil pulling pull these hormones out of my system? They are very expensive to do and I can't afford to have the detox pull it out of my system. Also the progesterone liquid is sugar based and I can't rinse this out of my mouth for at least 1/2 hour. Could anyone help me with this? Thank you for any help in this matter.

Hi Tom - In Jon Barron's latest newsletter, he lists several studies done on oil pulling (halfway through the article). He even mentions Earth Clinic. Here is the link: http://www.jonbarron.org/detox/nl110404/oil-pulling-strong-immunity Hope that helps.

Oil pulling soothes my mouth tremendously---I've been traumatized by dental crowns and oil pulling was recommended by my dentist. I use organic extra virgin olive oil and have just held it in my mouth for 20 minutes. It felt so soothing to gums, teeth and jaw bone.
I repeated with another 20 minute session right afterward my first oil pull last night. Today an area on my gum at the site of a 2 crown procedure placed 3 weeks ago made a huge leap toward healed. Roots from a more recent crown has been calm most of the day--not a small feat since that root bothers me frequently.
Regarding getting rid of the oil after I use it.... I also do not want to cause septic problems. I spit the oil into a paper napkin and put it in the trash. Spitting it into a bag of trash that already has lots of tissues also works well--so there's no oily mess in the trash can.

Hey All! Been awhile. Here's a suggestion! As far as getting rid of the oil, make a point of keeping the plastic bags from the grocery store to spit the residue into after oil pulling. I knot the bag closed and toss into a trash container. This keeps the oil out of the pipes and the bagged oil avoids smelling up your container as it would if spat directly into it.
As far as oil-pulling goes, it is fantastic. I had stopped for a while and restarted. I must say, what a differance only 5 days has made! The grayish palor and lines on my face, forehead, and under-eyes are disappearing again. My face and body feel smoother and look less tired. Also, my bones don't crick when I roll out of bed each moring. My tongue is turning a beautiful shade of pink. Also, the oil-pulling's natural jaw exercise is refining and prominating my Indian cheekbones. The oil-pulling soothes my tummy and I'm also happier, calmer, and sleeping well after 2 months of insomnia. At the same time as oil pulling, I've up my water intake and I believe that is helping a lot, as well. As water drinking is hard for me for some reason, I went and purchased an extra large, tall beer mug from Walmt which I fill to the brim with filtered water and 1 TBLsp of ACV. I drink this 3 times a day, sipping with a straw. The jug is so large, that I barely taste the ACV. But, it is doing wonders for regulating my bowels and moistening my skin which usually stays on the dry side (DUH!).

I have read all the benefits of oil pulling and am ready to try it for myself. I am encouraged by the posts I have read concerning the variety of ailments that have been cured or at the very least greatly improved through oil pulling. I am just wondering if certain oils are better than others for certain ailments. I want to improve my overall health, but I have three issues in particular that I would like to address.
First, I have bad problems with my gums and teeth. Second, I have severe arthritis in my right hip and knee and lower back... Very painful. Third, I am very overweight (I know, that only aggravates the arthritis), and really need to jump start my weight loss. It seems like my metabolism is in slow motion most probably from 30 years of yo yo dieting. So, is there one oil that will help with my three areas of concern? Should I rotate between different oils? Thanks for your help, and I can't wait to get started. Susan

To Susan from Hebron;Have you ever had your thyroid checked? I was very skinny and found my thyroid was under active, I got on a thyroid suppliment, then for some odd reason I just quit mid-stream and gained weight and got real huge, so now I'm back on the thyroid suppliment. I thought Omega 3 fish oil was very close to being cod liver oil?

I've noticed that there are lots of people asking about the reasons for oil not turning white; and some, I have noticed, seem to think it has something to do with the toxins purportedly being removed.
Oil - ANY oil - will turn white when beaten, swished or mixed with water in any other way for a period of time long enough and/or with enough energy. It is a basic characteristic of emulsions, I.E. Mixtures of non-blendable liquids, such as water and oil. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the presence (or absence) of toxins.
If the oil in your mouth does not turn white and/or watery, it could be that you are not swishing it energetically enough. (It goes without saying that too short a period - like a a minute or two - won't suffice to produce an emulsion either. )
The most common mistake with oil pulling seems to be that the initial dose of oil is simply too big, so swishing it energetically around the mouth becomes much more difficult, especially as the quantity of liquid increases with the addition of saliva.
Try swishing a small amount of oil - but energetically.
I guarantee it will turn white. :)

I began oil pulling (cold pressed sesame oil) about four weeks ago. I have to say that I feel much better all around. My reflux has all but disappeared, although my stomach still feels turbulent and like its burning at times. Now my tongue is becoming more pink (was white and dry for 20 years and caused a foul taste), my skin is soft and supple and I have more energy. My appetite has also become more regulated. It feels as though toxins are being removed from my body. I have also modified my diet, cutting out refined sugar where possible and reducing my starch intake. All these years, I think I have had a candida problem. It has not completely gone away, but I feel as though I am making progress. The doctors were not able to help me with my white tongue, fatigue, and intestinal problems (primarily relux). I am glad to have found this site. Kudos to the old-time remedies!

I had a question that I haven't seen asked or answered yet. I was wondering if medication had any effect on the results of oil pulling. If oil pulling is a type of detox, then wouldn't it be fighting against your medication in trying to rid your body of it? When I was oil pulling I did it first thing in the morning then took my meds and vitamins after. But I just hoped that my medication didn't counteract the possible results. I am taking 70mg of vyvanse. In case that information is important. Does anybody have an answer for this?

Why the wait of 1 hour after drinking or 3/4 after eating? What will happen if done right after a meal or snack? Coco

I don't have the exact answer to your question of why it is recommended to wait after eating or drinking before you oil pull, but one possible theory is if you pull with a full stomach, the oil will have double duty. It will be pulling toxins from the food in your stomach as well as other parts of your system. I enjoy oil pulling and I can tell the difference in my congestion problems immediately afterwards.

I started Oil Pulling last week. Then I just held some wine in my mouth for few minutes. When I spitted it I saw so much debris! Is this from my mouth or from the wine? I could even see some chemical reaction in the sink when I was flushing hot water to clean the debris.
