I'm on my 4th day of oil pulling and what I feel is very strange: Tingling all over my body except my face as though my blood had little needles and poking me all over. wanted to know if that was normal?

I found your site in June of 2007 because I allowed a dentist to talk me into repairing a chipped tooth, he even claimed he wouldn't do any drilling. But he lied & drilled so deep into my gums a nerve was damaged. I was in non stop pain from the time I left his office dispite the novacane, which got worst after it wore off. I could not sleep & cried every night for a month, almost going to the emergency room but determined not to go back to him and fearful of dentists. After searching the net I tried your herbal remedies for the pain and started oil pulling. And within a few days the pain was gone and the only thing I did to maintain it was the oil pulling. I continued it for about 9 mos and felt the tooth must have healed by then so I stopped oil pulling and about two months later the pain returned but there was swelling this time and I was told I must definately get a root canal asap. Instead I started oil pulling again along with ACV and the swelling went away and the pain stopped again. I also recently found a great book about healing cavities and tooth infections called Cure Tooth Decay by Ramiel Nagel. He has a website I believe is www.curetoothdecay.com. He advises what foods to eat to recover from cavites and pressure tecniques to restore the bodies hormonal balance which I barely tried but was amazed that they seem to work right away and I felt a difference. That tooth is now almost 100%. No sensitivity to hot or cold & I can chew any kind of foods no matter how hard, & the tooth no longer feels weeaker than the others. Unlike before when I had to chew certain foods like steak or nuts on the other side of my mouth.

Hello Robert, don't know what the suggestion was that didn't help, but wanted to alert you that Selenium is one thing that asthmatics are found to be low on. You might try adding this mineral supplement to see if it helps to alleviate your asthma.

thanks Jon, for the suggestion...I have learned to omit wheat from my diet & do feel better for it. As for the oil pulling, I am not giving it a big thumbs down, just stating my experience. I gave it a go for a few weeks straight at various intervals & didn't notice any difference in my breathing. I have tried many things over the years for my exercise induced asthma... herbs, accupuncture, & eliminating triggers has been the most help...clean environment, anti-inflammatory diet & with the passing of my cat, I rarely use my inhaler. I still oil pull occasionally for oral health. & Molly I think you're right..as I believe the root for me may be more emotional than physical.

Regarding swelling lymph nodes as a side effect of Oil Pulling. I have had bumps under my arms all my life -- just thought that's what armpits looked like. I tried oil pulling for a week or so last year (Sesame oil, tablespoon or so). I only swished for 1 or 2 minutes (hoped to work up to longer). I immediately noticed my teeth were whiter, or maybe just shinier. But what absolutely astonished me was that the lumps/bumps under my arms were GONE. Completely! I had never in my life had smooth armpits before! I was flabbergasted. Well, life got busy and I quit oil pulling. My armpits returned to their former lumpiness. The Sesame oil sat on a shelf in the bathroom for about a year. I recently decided to try it again. I had no idea if the oil was still good -- but thought it couldn't hurt. I have only been oil pulling for 3 days, again just for a minute or so, and -- unbelievable -- the bumps under my arms are almost gone again! It's so blatant, it makes me laugh! Well, I am definitely going to keep up the Oil pulling routine (btw I only did it in the a.m.) -- and also am going to try to work up to doing it for a longer time. The longer I swish, as others know, the more the oily stuff becomes watery and you have to go longer to reach this stage. I don't know if the bumps under my arms are lymph nodes (they aren't painful or anything) -- whatever they are, they are almost gone again! I have also been feeling a renewed energy in the morning and hadn't known why, maybe because I was trying to drink my 8+ glasses of water a day-- now I think it's due to the oil pulling. I'm going to keep oil pulling and see if I keep feeling energetic, watch those bumps disappear, and see what else happens! If my half-hearted attempt yields these phenomenal and immediate results . . . something is definitely going on.

First, I would like to thank the originator for this web-site. I have been oil pulling for about two months and I have an enormous burst of energy after oil pulling. Previously to oil pulling I was having a problem with my left arm. I had gone to the doctor to have it checked, I had a stress test, blood work etc, results were normal. (it felt like I had some type of pulling in my arm). I have not had any problems with it since oil pulling. My teeth are very white. I am also doing Weight Watchers along with my daily pulling I am losing weight when I started WW I was 247lbs, I am now at 237lbs I don't know yet if I can contribute this to oil pulling yet. I only use 1 tsp of safflower oil and swish for 15-20 every morning. Truly thankful for the energy it gives me. It makes me more active.(which was needed). Thank you. Carol

I started oil pulling for 20 minutes in the morning. I didn't always remember to do it and sometimes I would spit it out and forget to drink water afterwards. I also started using a toothpaste with Thieves oil. One day (now a week) I awoke with my mouth and lips inflamed and full of sores, some bleeding. This has been very painful. I can only drink liquid foods and have a hard time talking.

One other thing. I am not an athlete. I went to an athletic camp for a week from 9-11 and became extremely hot with lots of sweating.

I have a sense that I am going through a rough detox. I swish with HP and drink aloe vera juice along with smoothies I make with papaya/banana or beet greens + beet and carrots.

Any thoughts?

Hey there Camille. Glad to see you're being so proactive about your oral hygiene and overall health. Looking at your routine, you are doing a few things out of order. I hope this information helps. Your routine should START with OP. Do it first thing in the morning. Well, you should FLOSS first. Also based upon your symptoms, it sounds like you have a BAD case of parasites. Try a Health Food Store or a herbal company you trust and get a liquid/tincture of Black Walnut (also a tooth whitener). Add 10 drops to 1 Tbs Sesame Oil (make sure it's RAW sesame seed oil, NOT toasted). Now, really focus on swishing thoroughly, making sure you don't swallow any mucous that comes up as it will be loaded with parasites. Then take a few minutes after getting it all out to let your mouth settle back before you do the rest of your routine. Next brush using an organic toothpaste. Any salt rinsing should be with Sea Salt, not table salt. Brushing afterwards with nothing else is fine.
Only swallow something alkaline into your acidic stomach (like baking soda or calcium/magnesium) at NIGHT before bed. Again, allowing your mouth to set for a while, the best thing you can put in your stomach in the morning is a fresh apple! Surprise. Surprise. Don't cut it, just bite into it! :-)

I find that if I Oil pull for 20 min first thing in the AM and then drink my ACV, I try to wait 4hr after eating to Oil pull again and I include all liquids that are not H2O. I follow up with ACV. I have now added two different Oils to trade off on for Pulling. I feel great and weight is still falling off.

I learned about OP from a nurse at my VA. I thought about it and searched the internet for info.
The reason I used it was to remove the bacteria and poisonous toxins I was sure were under my teeth. I also have diabetes and that causes teeth problems. When I started I was in pain from an exposed nerve.

I used 1T seaseme oil and 1T sunflower oil combined w 5 drops black walnut, 5 drops pepperment and 6 drops cinnamon oils. The peppermint for pain and the cinnamon for the antibacterial. Note: oregano as far as I know is an anti-fungal, not an anti-bacterial.
Regardless I swished my mix for 15 min, keep in mind I was in pain at the time. The first effect I noted, there was no pain even when I drew cold air through the area of my mouth. I could eat hot or cold food w no pain. Needless to say I am hooked for life. Teeth that were rising and becoming loose over the next week returned to near normal and tight in the gum. I don't know about the rest of my ailments. My teeth are much better.

A side obsevation I would like to mention is directed to the lady in India who tried OP for her wrist and arm metacarpule. I had metacarpule and the thing I knew that allowed me to over come it is this. The nevre when damaged will swell in its pathway and this is what causes pain when the joint is moved. Nerves continue to swell if they continue to bump bone which causes more pain. The wrist has a very small passage for its nerves. The swelling that causes the pain is closer to the thumb than the elbow (I mean the swell is trapped). The nerve for the thumb and forefinger extends thru the arm up to the armpit. To releive the pain from my wrist I reach up on a door frame as high as I could. Held on to the frame and dropped my body slowly down streaching my arm until it was fully extended way over my head. At first fire was running up my arm but when I reached full extention of my arm I felt a pop in my wrist and all pain vanished. Now I stretch to insure it doesn't happen again.

I hope this can help someone. It worked for me.

To Patricia...I had commented to someone else about the same thing, but for a loss of how to spell it, I cut my experience short. My sinus infection had gone undected for so long that the poison went into my lungs, and apparently I had pneumonia, but didn't even realize that until having found this site in desparation, and God's will, started oil pulling...it took two weeks for the mucous from my lungs to blow out of my nose a very dark green...I had never even blown dark yellow out before this OP experience, and have suffered with sinus infections all my life. Keep it up, and get rid of the poison...It took me almost 6 weeks, but for the first time in my life, I don't weeze, cough, almost smother to death in a lying down positon, and breath like I have a new set of lungs..I am 56 years old.

For the bad breath, get a good stainless steel tongue scraper (the plastic ones don't work well). This will get the remaining oil and a lot of bacteria flora off your tongue. (I do it before and after an oil pull). I hope that helps!

Asthma: Cut out wheat and dairy for a few weeks and see what happens. This means cut it out completely. Many people find relief with this simple elimination diet. Did I mention you should cut out these common allergens COMPLETELY? No exceptions. If it's going to make a difference, you'll see it in 4-6 weeks max. Curious if it's working? Then after 3-4 weeks try a slice of wheat bread and see if you feel crummy.

It very well may be related to your level of toxicity. Those with higher levels take a while longer for any one thing to be obviously resolved. Your body, in it's amazing ability to heal itself will take care of the most pressing dis-eases and problems first and less homeostasis threatening issues after. Same holds true for any type of detox (fasting, rawfoods, Essiac, MMS, etc.).

I'm only going to interject a moment here. I think it's sad when people take one therapy and expect it to be a magic bullet. True OP can help a myriad of conditions, but it is an adjunct to other therapies you should be doing, like eating healthy, bathing well (using oxygen based therapies like magnesium and H202) and a number of other things.

This magic bullet doesn't exist. Natural health takes more work than going to the doctor and getting pharmaceuticals.

OP kills the bacteria in the mouth that can overwhelm the system. It should be only one thing in your arsenal towards good health, not the only thing.

I wish the person with asthma much luck. There are a ton of things out there in the natural health arena to pursue and read about. Please don't nay say OP because it hasn't helped your one condition.

Molly

I have been oil pulling for 4 days. I used to smoke two packs a day and drink so much coffee I ended up in the hospital with caffiene intoxication. My teeth look so much cleaner and are starting to get white. They had been terribly stained. I work nights, 12 hour shifts, and always have big black bags surrounding my eyes. These bags are almost completely gone and my skin looks so clear. I also starting drinking 2 tablespoons of ACV in 8 oz of water before each meal. My skin is really starting to glow. My energy is reaching levels I have not felt in years. I am in my mid forties. I am really starting to look younger. This upsets my wife very much. She is upset that I am being stared at now by others whenever we are out together. She sees the differences in my appearance and energy but for some reason will still not try oil pulling or ACV. I am going to start keeping a journal and track the changes in my appearance and energy. I am so pleased with the results and it has only been four days!!!! I am enjoying being "noticed" so much more when I go out. It always nice to know that others find you attractive. I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!! I will continue with both of these practices for the remainder of my life. It is so cheap and yet the rewards are so tremendous.

I have been reading the oil pulling feedback, and it seems a lot of people lose their fillings or are afraid they will anyway. What everyone should know about mercury amalgam fillings is that when all the mercury has leached out of them they will get loose and fall out whether you are oil pulling or not. It is possible that oil pulling may speed up the process of getting the mercury out of these fillings, which I think is a good thing as long as you are spitting it out. When we chew and breath we are ingesting mercury and mercury vapors from these fillings. They need to be removed anyway as soon as possible (by a dentist who knows how to do this safely >only) and replaced with some safer material. So in my opinion (worth 2 cents at least) if your fillings come out it is a good thing. Go get them replaced with a mercury-free filling material. Just my thoughts on the subject, everyone should do lots of research before doing anything. Thanks for the website, I really love it, and all who contribute for this valuable resource.

Hi Paige/ Roseann,
Regarding your swollen lymph nodes, what oil are using using for oil pulling? I think it is the sunflower oil which is causing it. I used to do oil pulling with sesame oil and was perfect but recently i started with sunflower oil and have swollen lymph nodes. I would suggest continue with your oil for sometime and if it does not get better then switch it to some other oil.

Hi Paige....I am not a doctor or any other kind of health care professional; however, swollen lymph glands/nodes can be associated with infections and/or disease; since the symptoms you describe seem to disappear after stopping your swishing and then return once OP is reinstated it could be your Detox theory. I too noticed some lymph gland enlargement (even some neck veins) following my first swish or two....I continued swishing while reducing the force I was using and all gland/vein problems seem to have resolved..Good luck.

I started doing the oil pulling last week, missed a couple days over the weekend, then started back this week. Both when I first started and now since I've re-started my lymph nodes are swollen and extremely sore. Is this normal? It seems to me that it's traveling down my body, the first week was the nodes in my neck area, this week it's my arms and underarms. I was just wondering if it's normal...I thought perhaps it's because my body is ridding itself of toxins through the oil pulling. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does he exist? & why hasn't he responded to this site? Many repeat this one source of text as absolute truth. Not to discredit many of the anecdotal claims here, though I believe some skepticism is actually healthy. One can fill a stadium with nonsense...& vast numbers of people repeating the same untruth won't change it to true.

I emailed several weeks ago with a concern because my blood pressure had spiked soon after beginning my Oil Pulling. I stopped using the oil for several days with no change in my blood pressure, and then resumed the Oil Pulling soon after. I truly do not believe that the oil had anything to do with the blood pressure spike. I did, however, start back using the Apple Cider Vinegar after a couple of years of laziness, and my blood pressure has begun to level off again! I keep a jar of ACV and honey (1/2 and 1/2) and I add a couple of tablespoons to cold Apple Juice a couple of times a day. I agree with other posters, ACV and Honey and Oil Pulling are both things that I believe I can do for life!

I started oil pulling 4 days ago and immediately noticed some differences. First I tried Safflower and I slept better then I had in years and my gums did not bleed at all when I flossed that night. Also I am noticing my teeth are whiter and that food I eat after OP tastes better. I don't get food bad breath (after you) anymore. My sister noticed her dark circles under her eyes is gone after only 3 days. We are both using Sunflower oil and Safflower but only when I have the time to get a lot of sleep.

I have similar problems and high copper/heavy metals. I have recently added zinc to my arsenal of supplements and feel that it is helping a lot! Also, Natural Dentist mouthwash has Grapefruit Seed Extract in it and helps keep candida out of my mouth--as far as I can tell! I am also having interesting results with acupuncture. Response to the 01/23/2008 post from Lucille/Southampton, New Jersey who writes: "Hi. I've recently started Oil Pulling treatment and although just a few days, my energy level is elevated and my teeth are brighter. I am hoping for result in lowering blood pressure. My question is, would OP help relieve pain from Interstitial Cystitus? A chronic pain problem for the last year. Doctor consultations/meds have not helped. Please post this question on the website. thanks!"

For the interstitial Cystitus which can be very painful, try drinking lemon water for the initial pain and then later it will get rid of it. Make the lemon water as strong as possible, say 4 wedges squeezed into a glass of water making it tart. NO SUGAR!! I told a friend about this and she said when her father had bladder cancer he was told by the doctor to use this for pain. If you drink the juice of 1 lemon in an 8oz glass of water when you first get up with no food or coffee for 30 minutes there after, you can dissolve gallstones. It takes about a year consistently. You also need to take some digestive enzymes to aide in digestion. Then also take some Red Rice Yeast and CoQ10 to bring down cholesterol, which causes gall stones. Tumeric can be used for getting rid of melonomas ans this is substantiated by science on the Texas Anderson College Cancer Research Center site. I have used it and it has stopped the growth of some facial and arm skin cancers with amazing results. I wonder if you could make a paste of it and put it on the cancers...Hmmmm?
