I have been pulling with extra virgin coconut oil for the past month and the results are amazing. I have better sleeping habits, suppression of appetite, weight loss, Candida is under control, PMS and hormonal balance (mood swings and pre-ovulation pain are gone! ). Whiter teeth, pink gums, increased energy, colon cleansing and you name it.

I have also been using coconut oil on my skin and as an oil treatment in my hair. My remains moist longer and my heels are softer. My hair is thicker. I highly recommend oil pulling with extra virgin coconut oil.

I have also been oil pulling (Sesame oil) for a week and noticed cramps in my lower right side. I don't know if I am detoxing or what. I do feel like I have more energy and less appetite for unhealthy foods. I want to eat more vegetables and avoid sugar. I will keep at it and post results as I continue in this regimen.

UUUH... Rape seed oil and canola oil are the same thing... They just changed the name to please the masses... Rape seed oil sounds wrong apparently... PS, almost everything you eat, drink, and see is genetically modified... Even yourselves... Sleep tight

Had horrible sinus infection. Read your page and tried oil pulling. All I had was avacado oil at the time. Swished for only 12 minutes, but within another 12 minutes my terrible headache was gone and about 90% of the sinus infection was also gone. An amazing cure! Thanks!

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Hi,

I just wanted to submit some feedback: I've been doing oil pulling for 2 months. In the first few weeks, I slept much better, and had a cleared up feminine problem. This is notable. I started the first month on organic unrefined sesame oil. The next month, I went to organic extra virgin cold pressed olive oil. Just this week I started with organic refined sunflower oil.

I am coming upon the third month oil pulling, and I seem to have some sort of gland issue: I sweat profusely, especially my feet and underarms, and am having a small odour problem.

Just this week, I have had swollen lymph nodes under my arms. It is painful, and I have been trying not to wear tight clothes till it goes down. I have had this a couple years ago, but not as bad as now. I feel some sort of inflamatory pain in almost all my lymph area- neck, groin as well.

I read how for this problem, you can take 1/4 teaspoon baking soda in a glass of water, with some sea salt. I did that for two days, and nothing happened. I then did just baking soda, for three more days, and still nothing. Except that my face seemed to glow after I took it.

I wanted to share these things. I love remedies for health, ayurevedic cures, and "potions". Thanks for the site, it is a gem.

Hi the cracks in your tongue is definitely fissured tongue. The sensitivity/raw tongue could be geographic tongue. Are you a smoker? Or do you have allergies? I would cut back on the op a bit Also I would take some probiotics. That always helps me with my geographic tongue. Oh stay away from salty spicy foods until it clears up.

Sometimes bags under your eyes are from Adrenal fatigue, so herbs like ashwaganda or holy basil are helpful. Keep up the good work!

I am currently on antibiotics for a sinus and ear infection and just found out about oil pulling. Should I wait to start doing it until all the antibiotics are finished?

Hi I am doing oil pulling again Last time I did it was about eight weeks ago I started to feel better after about four days except for flem in the throat that was almost gone when I stopped. Teeth felt healthier and gums improved very quickly. I stopped as To many visitors and interuptions over festive season. Ive started again and this is my third day and I have severe pain in right side about kidney area. Ive had pain here before in the past when Ive eaten to much sugar or drunk a couple of glasses of alcohol so I dont do this very often. The pain is like a constant ache- any suggestions? Ive been drinking lots of water but a bit nervous to keep going with OP in case Im damaging something.

After o/ping for about three weeks I had a crazy burning sensation on my shin. My skin also itched. Then my shin had a bright red spot that literally healed like a burn!!!! I stopped o/ping (sunflower) but recently started with no side effect.

I have a question for Hollis from Hawaii. Did you experience a cleansing crisis during your 18 months of OP ? If so, what happened? I just started OP and am hoping I will not have one. I am into my third week of the Daniel fast and feeling so well. I enjoyed the two sessions of OP I have done since yesterday and find that my teeth feel very clean and my chapped lips have improved.

Brand new to this I just found this so any help would be great, I need to go buy some oil tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for their great input. I am very interested in trying this, hopefully my teeth problems are taken care of.

I haven't noticed any major improvement from oil pulling other than whiter teeth. Also I need to stop after a week as my teeth become too sensitive.. So I do it off and on.. I wonder at times if the health benefit is the mind body, meditative (placebo) effect. You do this mouth closed breathing through your nose, saying to yourself, I am doing something healthy... That in itself will have a positive effect by focusing on mind & body and breath. The fatty acids could be absorbed... Or not.. Toxin pulled.. Perhaps... no proof of this...yet.

My thinking is the oil pulling re establishes proper moisture in our mouths. Over time (age) slows healthful production of saliva and it kicks it back into gear. My lips are also a lovely natural pink now and are fuller. Gotta love that!

I have been OP for a month now. The concern is I am having a funny sensation in my tongue. Could this be due to some kind of deficiency or OP.

Hi Ted and all that read and respond to this site. Thank you for all this great information! I have been oil pulling for a week with sesame oil and I have been exeriencing dizziness, light headedness. Headaches and eye twitching. I believe this may be a healing crisis, but I want to make sure. Is this normal to feel worse and to feel dizzy and light headed? Is there anything else I should be doing. I began taking Apple Cider Vinegar and honey a couple of weeks ago, then started oil pulling with sesame oil a week ago, 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes before I go to sleep. Thank you for any help that you can give me. Sincerely, Flower

Eye bags sometimes have to do with kidneys. Make sure to drink lots of water.

Hello, I began oil pulling about 10 days ago. I do it about 2x's per day, once with sesame and once with coconut each session for 15 minutes. I have a chronic (for years) postnasal drip and loss of smell (2 years) about 4 days into op a huge (this is so gross, sorry) congealed mass of mucous came from somewhere deep in my sinuses. Followed by another and then some smaller ones. Then there was a more liquid-y stream flowing for a couple of days which turned into a pretty bad cold. That miraculously cleared up in a couple of days.

My head feels so clear now I can hardly believe it. This is Great!!! I am really wondering though, about the bags under my eyes. They seem more intense to me than usual. Does that make sense at all? Do I really have a chance to rid myself of these? I hope some of you have had real experience of this. If so, how much time should I give it to expect real results? If any of you have had more success with a particular oil for eye bags, I would love to know what worked for you. Thanks, Everyone

I have a private holistic practice and over the past 25 years have had my sensitive clients start with 3 minutes per day the first week. 5 the second. 7 the third and then up to 10-15 depending on how they respond. I had one client stay at 3 minutes for 3 months before he could work up to 5. I think that some of the intense side effects are due to the dental component of the root canals, tmj joint and brain aspects releasing as we need to understand the cranial component of this method as well. An offering for more sensitive clients and to recognize the body isn't to be pushed but encouraged. Namaste, Jen

I first tried oil pulling last January after having the swine flu for over 3 weeks. I had tried tons of doctor prescribed antibiotics, but I still had this horrible hacking dry cough. I first used 1 tbsp sesame oil and swished it around in my mouth for 20 minutes. While I was spitting out the oil, I noticed the congestion in my chest loosening and before I knew it I was hacking up tons of phlegm. I felt so much better and kept it up until I was fully recovered a couple days later. I also noticed my teeth were super white after oil pulling. I have since used coconut oil and it works just as well. I have found it's best to do this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach so I keep the oil in the bathroom and swish it around while I shower.

Oil Pulling and Medication

Dear Ted
Please let me know what to do. I'm supposed to take Synthroid (thyroid) first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, 30-60 minutes before food. When should I do the oil pulling? What effect does oil pulling have on medicine?
Thanks so much!

I did oil pulling for the first time ever this morning. I was able to do about 10 minutes before I just couldn't hold the stuff in any longer. I plan to work up to the recommended 15 to 20 minutes. I have noticed some sinus drainage throughout the day. Nothing disgusting, just noticeable. My question is, has anyone else experienced excessive salivating after pulling?? I have had to gulp and swallow all day long! If so, any suggestions as to why this happens??

I was suffering from severe burnout. My health was failing. For the past 3 months, I had shooting pains all over my body, I had dizzy spells, pains in my lower back and lower right abdomen. I started oil pulling and the symptoms started to fade the first day I did the oil pulling routine. Within 4 days ALL of the symptoms vanished!!! It seems like miracle!!! This experience has caused a profound paradigm shift in my consciousness and has caused me to reevaluate many of my beliefs about health care and healing. I am thankful there is an internet where one can obtain vital information like this.

To Mychelle, from Pacific Northwest: a liquid menthol called "White Flower" used as a few drops on a tissue, put in a paper bag, and inhaled/sniffed can really help open airways. Most good Healthfood stores, or Chinese pharmacies carry White Flower.

Hi Tom, thanks for your advice but unfortunately the book you talk about seems to be awfully expensive. I will keep trying to find it still I wanted to say that after wearing braces for many months my gums were a lot better (I am 53) still, recently all of a sudden they started receding and getting inflamed. At the time I was using a natural tooth paste with salt and no fluoride but it did coincide with the finishing of the vitamin C I was taking (3 or 4g). When the pills finished I changed to Acerola which I think only contains 170mg of Vitamin C. Could that have been the reason I had problems?

Kiran:
If you're in no hurry, try finding a copy of the 1997 book by Dr. Gerard Judd "Good Teeth Birth To Death". It's practically blacklisted! Here are just a few choice excerpts re: receding gums:

Receding gums are nothing but gum pockets caused by toothpaste and especially fluoride, which severs all proteins because of its highly negative character. Fluoride is the smallest negative ion on earth, and consequently is the most intensely negative particle on earth. As such, fluoride breaks the positive hydrogen bonds, which hold the coils together, in proteins and enzymes. "Receding gum" surgery will end when the GUM POCKETS cease. The very mention of the procedure, which involves transferring flesh from the roof of the mouth to the excised area of the gums, is a heinous and useless procedure which ought to pass into oblivion. Stated above, THE GUMS CAN BE RECONNECTED TO THE TEETH BY TAKING VITAMIN C (ASCORBIC ACID) (1 tsp) with Arm and Hammer baking soda (1/2 tsp) in 1 inch of water, letting it fizz and then diluting to 1/2 to 1 cup with water, then drinking. The resulting SODIUM ASCORBATE is non-acid, very pure and a thousand times more soluble than vitamin C. SODIUM ASCORBATE IS MORE REACTIVE THAN ASCORBIC ACID (C) in building connective tissue and antibody structures and more effective in killing some viruses and bacteria... Now you know why!

Hi kiran x as much as you want to avoid going to the dentist, oil pulling won't correct the dental prob you have. Its a wonderful remedy for many ailment's but I'm afriad if I'm right, this won't be the answer to your particular problem. I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you have a phobia of dentist? Or maybe was your last dental connection, something that went wrong, and was a bad experience which put you off dentist for good? Or please don't think I'm being rude or prying, is it on financial grounds? As we all unfortunately, in the uk can't find an nhs dentist, and can't afford the rip off charges that a private dentist charges? I'm asking you these questions, as I found myself in this position, and had to pay mega bucks to have some dental work privatly. And by the time I found a private dentist (as even a lot of them are not taking on no more patients in the uk as they are also snowed under with patients).

If its not any of these reasons, you need to see a dentist to have your problem sorted out, there are dentist who offer sedation for nervous patients, or if its finacially out of your reach to pay for your problem to be sorted out, what I did was got on the patient list at a local nhs training hospital, with a dental training hospital attached to it. Thank goodness! It took a bit of time to get an appointment, but there's always a dental consultant with the trainees, and I must admit, I found the treament I recived there even better than the private dental treatment I payed silly money for, they're brilliant, and also will be helpful if your phobic about dentists. Or you may find you have to travel as nhs dentits are rarerer than the do-do bird these days.

But at the end of the day, even if you do have to travel outside your local area some help is better than no help at all. I hope this has been some help to you, and if not, I'm sure one of the "EC" Family, will impart whatever knowledge to help you. Stay safe, and have faith if you keep searching, your sure to find the answer to your problem. IT MAY TAKE SOME TIME BUT KEEP SEARCHING!! We all need a bit of time to find the answers we seek. God bless, and I hope you find the help you need soon. Love hugs and may you get help soon. Love andrea c x x x
