Epsom salts will pull out infection from wounds in scalp infections. I mixed it about 1/2 cup of epsom salt to 1 quart of hot water.

Submerge infected area in solution 4 times a day. If unable to submerge area, just use washcloth to dip in solution and apply over infected are (hot compress method) 4 times a day. I have seen this cure infection after red streak was running up arm (indicative of blood poisoning). No antibiotics were needed. I have many times bathed in 1-2 cups epsom salts in hot bath when muscles or nerves said "help".You really feel relaxed.

I have also used a saturated solution of Apple Cider Vinegar and epsom salts to clear up deep infected ulcers in scalp; No antibiotics were needed. Swab ulcers.

I was originally using Tea Tree Oil for the scabs on my scalp. When it got worse (not from Tea Tree Oil) I used 3 drops of grapefruit seed extract in my shampoo, as suggested by someone. After only 2 hair washes, the scabs are 3/4 gone. I also use grapefruit seed extract for teeth and gums.

Can you say more about how you use GSE for teeth and gums? Thanks!

I had recurring problems with scalp fungus. It wasn't too bad in summer, when I was out in the sun and swimming in salt water, but come late fall and winter I would get large pieces of scalp flaking off and my hair would be greasy. My hair was thinning out and my scalp was itchy.

I tried GSE (grapefruit seed extract) by putting a few drops in my shampoo. I mixed them together in the palm of my hand each time I shampooed, which was every other day.I left the lather in for two minutes or so. The results were immediate, now I just have a slight touch of dandruff, no itch and my hair seems to be getting a little thicker. My hair and scalp definitely look better as well.

Iodine Rinse

I've had an itchy scalp for over a year, lost over 3/4 of my hair. I've been through all the meds the recommendations offered by everyone, don't think there is anything I haven't tried.

Well anyhow, this is what worked for me and it may or may not work for you: In a plastic container add a quarter teaspoon of tincture of iodine (the brown liquid) and about a quarter cup of warm water, mix. Daily during your shower, wash hair with cool water without any shampoo or conditioner, then apply this mixture as a final rinse, whilst ensuring none of it gets in to the eyes. Immediately wrap a clean towel to the hair. Leave hair to dry naturally and before you know the hair feels softer and manageable - the plus factor 'No Itching".... Hurrah! I also use this mixture for my final rinse after my weekly shampoo and conditioner application. Initally I used this mixture for 4 days, had a break for a couple of days, the itching returned with a vengence. Good luck. Kate

Hi Kate, my scalp doesn't itch normally speaking but I am interested in this rinse to make my hair feel softer without using a commercial rinse! Did you come up with the idea yourself or did you base it on some known method?

Hi Francisca, I came up with this remedy myself. Initially I used to pour the iodine in a bowl and apply it to my scalp with my fingertips. As my hair roots were weak due to the fungus or whatever was causing the itching the iodine strength was too strong. I thought of the idea of diluting the iodine which has seemingly worked. I also steam my hair once a day to get rid of the calcium deposits. I wish you the best and hope something will help you with your hair. Good Luck.

Staphylococcal Folliculitis Scalp Infection:

I have been very successful with a mixture of jojoba oil/tea tree/clove oil in a spray bottle. I put the nozzle to my scalp and get just the right amount with no mess. I massage my scalp and leave this on overnight. No more itch or follicle pain and my hair is growing back. I also added biotin to help the hair grow.

Lugol's Iodine and Borax Spray

This helped me rid my scalp of the itchy, peeling condition.

You'll need:

  • 2 ounce sprayer bottle
  • 1 ounce distilled water
  • .75 ounce 70/30 alcohol. Having this amount alcohol will keep this self-preserved!
  • 8 drops Lugol's Iodine
  • 1/8 tsp borax, this is equivalent of a tiny pinch

Allow solution to sit and dilute the borax or it will clog sprayer.

Note: You can use without borax.

Use several times a day. If you have demodex, spray as soon as you feel a tickle.

This may hurt on affected area, but as they dry up and flake off this will no longer happen. Benefits easy to use, less discoloration than using full strength iodine.

Use on body parts without having iodine stain, knees, feet etc.

Do not add any other oils, or herbs to this - it will make it hard to preserve and you can make the spray bacteria soup.

Scalp Fungus:

Used several RX shampoos and pills. I even tried multiple products and remedies over the years. Your site finally solved my scalp issues. I think it must have been more than one type fungus that was causing my head to itch, burn and go bald. I used the white vinegar, aspirin and Epsom salt spray twice a day for 7 days. The area burned and peeled but it was 85% better. Even the lumpiness of my scalp was immediately reduced. After it dried I applied pure coconut to soothe it. Sometimes the coconut oil burned. I occasionally used antibiotic ointment when peeling was too severe. Only the bald spot where fungi were burned and peeled. Then I used Absorbine Jr for a 7 days which burned more and peeled more. But still it was healing and getting better. Applied pure coconut oil to soothe. This also sometimes burned. I occasionally added an antibiotic ointment in place of coconut oil.

Finally I used Listerine as many times a day as I wanted. It tingled and felt refreshing but no burn. My hair is growing back and there is hardly ever any itch. I am continuing the Listerine twice a day until I never feel an itch! Thanks for your site Ted! God led me to this place of healing. I pray others with stubborn scalp issues are so blessed!

Holy cow I had to post a reply to you goodness gracious to her putting a lot of stuff on your head besides the burning in the peeling did all this stuff on your head work quickly? And was there like one simple tactic that work better than the others because frankly I don't really want the Arsenal that you have I'd like to just use whatever seemed to be the most potent and and and and and rewarding I guess I should say. I'm not itching I just have the really dry scalp it could be from the Nevada extreme hard water too much minerals but I've stripped my hair down and I did the T gel which seem to make it worse and I have like magic marker the fat kind little bald spots that are you know growing back slowly but still scaly dry so it's just going to get damaged in Fallout and if I don't do the T gel every single day and I don't take a shower or wash my hair the following day I literally like a scary amount of hair falls out so I don't know what the if I have and I'm not going to go to the dermatologist and get overcharged for prescription shampoo that's not going to work and then try another kind and constantly do the rinse and repeat game so out of all your stuff which one was most rewarding to get your hair to start growing back and these little patches to go away and yes I do have the weird painful lump area that is like enticing to pick especially for picker and it kind of hurt but those are actually going away with it shampoo. Now I just need my hair to stop falling out and bees little spiky spots to actually grow hairback with a quickness for I'm a natural blonde and we naturally have thin hair and don't mistake that for thin frail hair we can have a lot of thin hair and appear in sick but we still have actual thin strands dainty hair so it sucks to lose it cuz I need to actually take me feel like feel like you have thin limp hair and yeah it does a great deal of damage to your ego and mental state of feeling pretty. Sorry for the run on sentences using speak to text and making breakfast for my twins that are one-year-old which could also be while I'm losing my hair XOXO Sawyer

Hi Ted. my hair started coming out by the handful. now my scalp is itchy, flaky and smelly. It smells like sweat and dirt, a few days after I have washed it. Sometimes if feels like pins and needle pain, sometimes it feels like something is crawling on my scalp and sometimes it is painful. I also have tiny bumps I my hair and I am getting these pimple looking bumps on my body. I have tried the tea tree oil. colloidal silver, drinking borax water, Apple Cider Vinegar and rinsing with peroxide. Antibiotics helped for a bit, but when I stopped taking them, it got worse. I have washed my hair with t-gel and selenium sulfite. This has been going on for years. I have bald spots, thin spots and broken hair. Thank goodness I had super thick hair, or I would be completely bald by now.

I have had problems with my hair on and off for approx 20 years and I have just recently gotten it under control. I have started taking a formula made with Lactated Pepsin, Black Snake Root Extract, Essence of Wild Ginseng, Atomic Iodine, Extract of Liver, and Grain Alcohol. You can look that up and get it! I also use Pennsylvania crude oil and Vaseline on my scalp; I rub it in and then I use a small vibrator with a cup attachment for 20-30 minutes. I use this approx 3x a month. I also use Listerine on my scalp after I wash my hair, which I wash with an Olive Oil based shampoo and conditioner. I use Listerine about 1x per month. However, it will not hurt you to use it more! When I haven't drank any alcohol, I use the "Violet Ray" machine on my scalp for 2-3 minutes whenever I feel the need to use it. It may sound like a lot, and maybe it is, but I have done it for so long, it is second nature, the only thing I added recently was the formula.

Tinea Capitis (Cure !!!)

this should be curable for ANY and EVERYONE who is suffering '' Tinea Capitis '' .... i had to deal with the infection for almost a year until i tried 2 things

1. '' CLEAR NAIL POLISH '' this is the main remedy
(as far as to MAKE THE HAIR GROW BACK) , apply either at night everynight and the next morning PEEL or SCRAPE the polish off (yes it may hurt) and u should start noticing hair growing back little by little within 3 days .... for FULL spot treatment it will take either a month or two depending on how often u use polish .... 2 coats a day should be faster
BUT you need to use remedy #2 1st for a month ,#2 below

2.because tinea capitis is a fungal infection UNDER your scalp the polish aides for the hair growth but as far as KILLING THE FUNGUS SPREAD u need to get a presciption pill called '' Grifulvin '' and u need to take one a day for a month BEFORE U START USING THE POLISH , you need to at least stop the fungus from living PERIOD (this pill has a dozen side effects one mainly being migraines ALL DAY so just try to withstand them all) .... try this out it worked for me i suffered with TC for a year .... my nightmare is OVER .... and so should yours .... god bless

I would hesitate to use a dangerous combination of chemicals (nail polish) on the scalp when it is so close to the brain. For the same reason that many won't use commercial shampoos with chemicals, I believe nail polish on scalp should be avoided. I believe the same applies to prescription anti fungal creams on the scalp. Of course these products will be absorbed by the body.. The skin transports to the body whatever we apply to it. (see below) I've used white vinegar/distilled water (50/50) to very effectively clear up scalp. (pour on as final rinse in shower, or use with q-tips on sore spots) White iodine combined with vodka for hair growth.

"(NaturalNews) Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), a chemical used to keep nail polish from chipping, has been connected to cancer in lab animals as well as long-term fertility issues in newborn boys -- leaving the cosmetics industry in a heavy debate over whether to continue use of the ingredient. Environmental groups are calling for a ban on DBP in the United States, and some big name companies such as Estee Lauder have preemptively removed the chemical from their products, but other brands such as OPI, Essie and Sally Hansen continue to use it. While the FDA must approve nail polishes before they can be sold, there are no laws that require companies to prove their products are safe first.

Good day! This post is about the treatment of human demodex on scalp, first, I would like to tell you guys my story on having human demodex, several months ago I have had these redness and itchiness in my scalp accompanied by a foul odor, the condition threatened me enough so I scheduled a visit to a dermatologist immediately to prevent it from getting worse, the she told me it was human demodex caused by mites. I then asked for a treatment, cure or remedy for it, she gave me both these Shampoo D'modex and Hair n Scalp conditioner, they are to be used together for best results, both of them are used to eliminate the mites. After a few days, I already noticed obvious improvements, the foul odor was gone immediately, the itchiness and redness lessened. I hope this post would help people in the future for treatment of human demodex. Thank you!

I need help, my scalp is slowing but surely balding, lately there are sores that present with pus. I have had this problem for about 6 years now and I am getting exasperated. Now I can only wear wigs. The bold patches have come close to the forehead.

After visiting many skin specialists, some of whom thought it was a genetic problem, two of them finally believe it is a fungal infection. I am currently taking grisofulvin, so far 3 weeks.

Please, if you know of any solution, I will be really greaful. Thanks. Carol.

Hi, I had the same problem from past 6 years. I found this site and gone through several feedback and post of TED and Bill. Doing so helped in my problem. I am not fully recovered but it certainly helped me with my condition. Please follow below procedure and let me know if this helps.

1. Change your diet. Drink plenty of water, no sugar, no yeast food item, no fastfood etc, no fry food. This needs to be followed very strictly.
2. Mix (1/4 tbsp for male or 1/8 tbsp for female) of borax in a water and drink throughout the day.
3. Take 2 tablespoon ACV + (1/2 tablespoon baking soda for male or 1/4 tbsp for female). You will see bubble once you mix this. Let it settle and then mix 1 cup of water and drink it twice in day on empty stomach.
4. Before taking shower add ACV + water in 1:2 ratio in a spray bottle. Apply it on scalp and let it sit for 30 min. Then wash the scalp with mild herbal shampoo.

Hope this help. Also, you need to be patience to see the results.

Hi Caroline! I would recommend using "Borax" to wash your hair with especially if it is a fungal infection. I use it in my bath as well as wash every part of my body with it. Including a douche for vaginitis! A cure all it is. There are a great deal of posts on here regarding it's uses. Drinking borax mixed with water and lemon help cleanse your body inside and out.

Just thought I'd add this for everyone here who is suffering with scalp issues. Look into: "How to eat for your blood type" by Dr. Adamo. (You can google this info online.) Find your personal food chart / for your blood type. We all have beneficial, neutral and avoid foods. This blood type chart has always helped me feel and look better. Another critical step: drink a healthy organic green vegetable drink every day. These drinks will help keep your PH levels in a alkaline state; and will significantly help your skin and system detox it self. For the last 2 weeks, my scalp really flared up on me. It was super irritated, red and itchy with hair fall. Kind of a miracle happened yesterday; after I drank my green drink. My scalp completely mellowed out within an hour. I'm not kidding. I was pretty happy about this and knew I should share what happened. Any good combo of organic veggie's will work and add these things if you'd like. My green drink consisted of:

Kale, 2 carrots, 3 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice, 1/2 of a cucumber, and a handfull of spinach.
( I added: 6 to 7 drops of pure oregano oil, heaping tsp. of tumeric powder, 1 tsp. of milk thistle powder and 1 tsp. of spirlina powder.

These drinks can be a bit strong at first, but I swear by them. I have seen how they have adjusted my Ph level into a alkaline state often, enough to know that this is a critical step in being healthy and helping your body defend against issues and immune weaknesses.

P.S. Oregano Oil, has some amazing healing properties. Research it .. and follow directions accordingly. It's powerful; so I would not over do it. Just use a few drops to start.
