Camomille tea, rubbing alcohol and Tea Tree oil cured my rosacea

About four months ago I had my first bout of rosacea. I had a few episodes of redness that lasted a few minutes on my face and tips of my ears before but until a few months ago it always went away on it 's own. My first bout was pretty bad as it was mainly my chin that was red and stayed red. I used make up during the day to cover it and that worked. At night I would tone it after washing with cold camomille tea and tea tree oil. This did lessen the burning feeling and the redness a bit but not by much.

My rosaacea, three months later, is now at the point almost completely gone. Here is what I have been doing. I noticed a dramatic change right away and hopefully this will work for you as well.

1. Every night, after washing my face I apply a homemade toning solution made of 1 cup cammomille tea, 1/2 cup rubbbing alcohol and about 10-15 drops of tea tree oil. I apply it with a make-up sponge, completely covering the red areas twice. I leave it on overnight. After a week of this, the redness was reduced by at least 80%. I'm still a bit pink and have flushing but nothing out of the ordinary and the flushing subsides. My skin is also super smooth, blemish free and very soft now, a bonus!

2. I stopped eating soy sauce and vinegar as I always would get redness after eating food with these ingredients.

3. I ate alot of root vegetables, citrus fruit and bananas, foods high is potassium and vitamin C. I gained five pounds but my rosacea did really noticably reduce. I plan of losing the weight and hopefully my rosacea will not return as well.

4. Other things I did that I don't normally do is I ate alot of spicy foods once (vegan Kimchee), and applied a commonly prescribed rosacea cream three times. The cream felt funny and has perservatives so I stopped. I don't know if this had an affect but it may have helped. Spicy foods is supposed to aggravate rosacea but it seemed to have the opposite affect for me.

So far this regime has had a dramatic affect on my rosacea. I will update you in a few months and let you know if this is just a temporary solution or if for me it's a real cure.

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide

Hello All,

Thought you might be interested in alternative Dr. Jonathan Wright's theory that when you develop a skin problem, look to your gut (gastrointestinal tract). When you also look at the opinion that 75% or more of our immune system's work is done in the intestines, this could very well be right. Also all the EC'ers who report that taking ACV relieves acid regurg or GERD, adds to this, because his theory is that acid regurg is caused not by an excess of hydrocholoric acid but to a deficiency of it.

I also remember reading that the purpose of our pets licking their wounds is that the passage of the pathogens through their GI tracts is what forms the antibodies against the pathogens, which would seem to enforce the theory of much of the immune system function is performed in our intestines.

Go after your total health first."

I think this is wise advice, Robert. I am beginning to think that rosacea is a symptom of sub-par health. Consequently, when one's health improves, so should one's rosacea. When i refer to health, i mean internal health. That said, i think it is still advantageous to apply gels/creams/ointments to one's face. A lot of evidence points to the cause of rosacea as a deficiency of vitamin b2 (riboflavin) and sulfur (MSM), two things which i have been supplementing my diet with as of late. While the literature suggests that these are not an immediate cure, they seem to work overtime and tackle the root of the problem, which should be the goal, that is, eliminating the cause.

Another thing which i suspect may provoke rosacea is mercury amalgams, as they could release too much mercury into one's body. I have not read too much from people in terms of whether removing mercury amalgams had any positive impact on their rosacea, though i am very interested in finding out.

Rosacea, if all will research the net, you will find that it was a Chinese army doctor who first identified the culprit to be the Demodex mite. This was during the Korean War. So I question any Johnny come lately, which includes Ted. After fighting this bugger unsuccessfully for 15 years with Dermatologists, I now treat it myself as I have posted before.

I now think you never cure yourself. You just have to control them. I have found that Tee Tree Oil is the compound which best controls the situation. It is critical that you apply your concoction inside your nose because there is where your hair follicles are. I use hydrogen peroxide, vitamin e oil, tee tree oil and borax. I wash my hair with a coal tar shampoo and rinse with a saturated solution of Borax. All these things are anti-fungals.

The statement that only hydrogen peroxide and borax will cure dog mange is laughable. My dad cured my dogs in the 40's with sulfur, old motor oil and boric acid. I know the site owners get perturbed with me because of my challenges. My response is that if you can't stand the heat, then don't go in the kitchen. Readers won't understand this remark, but they do.

Regardless, this is a great site , just question what you read. There are a lot of posters with unique knowledge like Ted and Joyce, but I find holes sometimes in what they say. Caveat Emptor. I also think lots of posters get tunnel vision with the treating symptoms. Go after your total health first. Then the symptoms will sometimes go away.

If this spiel comes out bad, just blame it on an old man's rumblings.

Hi Miel. I did the same thing. I used borax and hydrogen peroxide in my bath water. I stayed in the tub too long and burned my skin. It took a while to heal, but I learned a valuable lesson. It's better to use the correct portions than to use too much and cause yourself harm.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Rosacea - Ted's Remedies

I had a post here earlier on how Hydrogen Peroxide (HP), tea tree oil and drinking baking soda worked for me. It did and then i stopped drinking the baking soda (instead i drank Apple Cider Vinegar) and then stopped washing my face with HP. after i stupidly changed my routine my rosacea came back with a vengeance right when the temperature dropped!

so that's my fault. before i used to wash my face with diluted tea tree and HP (i just eyeball the measurements... maybe 1 tsp tea tree and 2 or more table spoons of HP in 10 cups of water) and then stopped.

after that huge breakout, i tried Ted's remedy of saturated borax, HP, drinking borax and baking soda. over the weekend it was horrible. its now thursday and my skin is again normal! it would have cleared up earlier also i think since the first few batches i did of saturated borax i put toooooo much HP which burned my skin!! and i think by monday/tuesday the redness might have been more because of the burn. i wish someone had mentioned not to put too much HP (i tend to overdose i suppose) lol. but yes, the remedy worked. if its in the correct prescribed measurements, the borax does not sting at all. my bed is just real sandy now since i slept with the borax on my face.

my plan now is to keep putting it on at night, drink HP. I also drink ACV for my insomnia and general health.

i came here a few weeks back and read the posts regarding hydrogen peroxide, baking soda with water and tea tree oil for rosacea

I tried them all as well as Borax which I did only once because of my skin sensitivity.

anyway, whatever i had been doing worked!. redness has gone and also the cystic pimples. no flushing, a few patches of dry skin are still on my forehead but it could my usual eczema.

I wash my face everyday with water and hydrogen peroxide diluted in the water. every other day i'll add tea tree oil into the water. when my face is still wet, i'll put Eucerin (heavy cream) on. I also use an acne lamp for about 20 min each night.

i think the hydrogen peroxide and tea tree oil had been a great help.

i also drink water with baking soda almost everyday.

Thanks so much for this information about Lysine and Vitamin C. I have alot of red facial flushing and broken capillaries. The laser treatments have not helped. I'm trying the vitamin C and Lysine now but curious about what form of Vitamin C and Lysine you take. I'm wondering if the Chewable Vitamin C tablets are irritating my skin. Are you taking chewable or a tablet? The Lysine I gound has garlic and other ingredients as well. I may return it and buy a tablet with just Lysine. At 49 I am wondering if the change in hormones is effecting the roscaea? I have also added Evening Primrose oil..

Re: ROSACEA GONE FOR 8 YEARS!

Hi, I'm new to this site, and came here for Thrush remedy, which after 2 weeks, is now all but gone. Oh, but even though I got the thrush from a very stressful situation on top of a terrible freshly baked bread 2-week splurge...MY ROSACEA DID NOT COME BACK!

THIS IS KIND OF LONG, BUT I THOUGHT I MIGHT AS WELL GIVE YOU THE WHOLE SHEBANG AT ONCE

I've had Rosacea all my life..the systemic kind: blushing, red spots, papules that expel waxy cheese...the whole thing. Horrible, embarrassing and painful ( I felt like I had a bad sunburn a lot of the time...I would be out having fun, and could not wait to get home and jump into the cool shower--face was covered with grease, beet red and yet dry and burned feeling) In other words, I had the whole thing.

I tried everything OTC and from dermatologists . Nothing worked and many made it worse.

I avoided "facials" like the plague, because they often left me red-faced for a month afterward.

About 8 years ago I had an ayurvedic facial ( can I say Dr Hauschka?) anyway, very expensive, but I was desperate and someone recommended. The facialist(?) saw me and immediately told me what to do...

I did use the products ($$$!) for about 1 year, but since then have developed my own protocol which keeps things at bay. I still treat myself to the products about once a year, and use monthly as a "facial treatment" instead of a daily thing.

So, if you can afford the Dr H whole shebang, I say go for it...if not, keep reading, because I've developed a less expensive routine for my long-term use.

Okay, here's what works for ME:

1)STOP IRRITATING THE SKIN
stop all scrubbing, rubbing, hotsteaming, reaming, pinching and anything that is not gentle to your face and rest of body. Think of your skin as a fragile little baby that needs coddling and care! Use products you make or buy that support skin.

2)AVOID TEMPERATURE EXTREMES
wash with tepid or cool water, never ever sauna--use steamroom only for short times, don't shock system with any hot/cold treatments. Shower tepid, avoid long hot baths (sorry!), don't get sunburned.

3) EAT AS HEALTHY AS YOU CAN AND TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!
Avoid hot, spicy foods--even the ones that are good for you, like ginger. (I use ginger/hot pepper once in a while when treating colds, etc..careful, sparingly)
Eat all the veg you can and drink water all day long.
TED'S LEMON ALKALIZER? FANTASTIC!! I used to use just lemon juice, but I am trying this now.

4) USE SKIN PRODUCTS AYURVEDIC/HOMEOPATHIC OR HOMEMADE --some OTC are OK--read the labels like a nut, even if you have to use a magnifying glass in the stores! I often write to companies and ask them to send me entire lists of ingredients in products...very good results. Sometimes you can find OTC creams, lotions that have the great ingredients in them ( quality oils, vitamins, etc) these are easier to use. I have found several reasonably priced ones here in Africa. I put them on before I go out if I don't want to look too "greasy".

5)HERE ARE MY LOW-COST ALTERNATIVES IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE HIGH-END DR. H!

a) WASH
wash type 1:
2 part almond meal (buy or grind raw almonds)
1 part dried ground orange peel (just buy one organic orange, peel it and dry out the peel
1 part dry milk.
Mix a little of this powder with water or milk or yoghurt and pat onto face. Gently rub to wash, or let it dry and gently rub off ( takes off more oil). Rinse with cool/tepid water.

wash type 2: (gentler)
Mix the above with plain yoghurt ( full cream is nice) or heavy cream. Option add: few drops lavender oil and/or drop or two of tea tree. Experiment, start with just the lavender. Rub gently or let sit for a couple of minutes while you relax ( if time) or wear into shower and wash off at the end.

TONERS:
type 1: Mix pure witch hazel ( no alcohol!)and real rosewater (no alcohol!) with a few drops of lavender oil and dilute with water. Or, add a few drops of rose oil istead of the rosewater. Keep in a spray bottle and spritz on face after washing. Start with maybe a few ounces of the Witch hazel and find a solution strength that leaves your face feeling clean, but not tight and dry. You can also add tea tree (sparingly) or geranium essential oil. Experiment a little bit...this is what worked for me. The lavender, rose and witch hazel are the mainstays. Rub on a few drops of cocoanut or soy oils and let air dry. Do not wipe off!

MOISTURIZE:
type 1(emergency cool and moisturize): Put heavy cream mixed or whipped with lavender oil on face and leave on for a few minutes. Wipe off and spray with the toner. this is good for flareups, sunburns and upsets.

type 2: glycerine, lavender and rose oil. Hey, it works for me! Mix a dab of this with enough water to cover the face lightly. Experiment until it does not feel too greasy. I sometimes toss a little ACV water (very dilute) on top of this, especially in hot weather.

type 3: a few drops of coconut and soy oils put on face damp from toner.

MOISTURE AND SOOTHER TREATMENTS:
type 1: whip heavy cream add few drops oil and leave on for 10 minutes while you put your feet up or bathe.

type 2: Take half an avocado, mush it up very soft and smooth (no lumps) add some lemon juice--take enough to cover, then add few drops lavender oil and put it all over your face, head hair and neck. If you cover your whole head with this..it feels fantastic and soothes, cools and moisturizes all at once. Go outside or maybe lay in tub...it's a little messy. Leave on for 10-15 minutes ( don't let it dry too much or it's hard ot get off)...this is my FAVORITE one, and I use it daily during avo season! You can make guacamole with the extra!

EMERGENCY SOOTHER TREATMENT:
Mix plain yoghurt with pureed apple and put all over face and body and head and hair(if you have time to wash up fully afterward, if not, just do the skin parts, but the full-head treatment is very cooling! Leave it on for 15 minutes or longer if you want. Relax while it is working. Roll yourself in a clean sheet (washed in borax, not detergent!) and then follow with a tepid shower and put a little lavender mixed with soy or coconut oil all over wet skin and maybe give face another yoghurt/lavender oil treatment if it is still very irritated. Keep cool!

BROKEN VEIN AREAS:
I have had very good luck with rubbing a little straight lavender oil on the worst spots. A recent one absolutely cleared up with this treatment.

SUNSCREENS:
I am in Africa, so I have to load up, and sometimes they irritate. I am just experimenting with making my own using zinc oxide added to a gentle face cream with soy. Let you know. It's hard to find the raw ingredients here--they cost a fortune or are unavailable or suspiciously unregulated.

NIGHTTIME HINTS:
1) have a clean pillowcase every night! or at least turn the pillowcase so that a clean side is up and change every other night. Wash bedding in borax, or special laundry soap from health food store. Add a couple drops lav oil to rinse.

OTHER HINTS FROM MY EXPERIENCE AND HUMBLE OPINION:
1. NEVER do "hot" or bikram yoga..nearly 3 months to get red out of my face!
2. don't eat spicy foods
3. don't drink every day -I have champagne about 1x a week and it seems OK. Hey, I'm in Africa, home of the sundowner!
4.stand on your head, or learn easier yoga inversion..it makes your face red..then clears it up!

THIS IS WHAT WORKS FOR ME!
You don't have to use everything, but key is the washing protocol. And the yoghurt, I think. This is a great book for more ayurvedic ideas... Absolute Beauty by Pratima Raichur.

I am just about to start Ted's borax/H202 treatment to get rid of THE LAST active papule I have on my chest. It is invisible for years, but still there, so is a great experimental spot! Let you all know.

BEST BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU RED-FACED FRIENDS OUT THERE...and thank you for sharing

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide

Hi, Charlie, Your local chemist supplies both. They are kept behind the counter so you have to ask for them. The hydrogen peroxide seems to be only availablle(or I can only get it so far) in 6% vol so I have to use mineral or ditilled water in the mix. Borax is also gotten from the chemist but not always so easily available but they should be able to order it for you. Some may ask what you want it for. I personally didn't want to explain in a shop full of people what I wanted it for so I said it was for making a homemade washing powder with washing soda. Yor can explain away the peroxide by saying it is for cleaning purposes. It can be used for cleaning counter tops or as a bleach would etc.
The brand I used is Ricesteele in Tallaght for both. Borax was only available from these and I rang the company in Dublin and checked that it is pure borax with nothing added. They said it is. I checked their peroxide for stabilisers as per Teds instructions (HP:Water 1:9 and leave on a windowsill in sunshine to look for yellow colour......waited 5 days for sunshine) and it stayed clear.

I'm afraid you will only be able to get small quantities. 100g of borax and 250ml hp.

If you ever find it in larger quantities please let me know where as I hate buying on the internet and believe in buying local anyway.

I was diagnosed with rosacea about 2 years ago and used the antibiotics and MetroGel with little results until a few months ago they just completely stopped working. I have slight redness, but my biggest problem is the tiny bumps that cover my entire forehead and the round patches on both of my cheeks. I decided to try a more natural approach.

I drink 4 ounces of water with 1 tablespoon of ACV twice per day (with breakfast and dinner), plus I use a cotton ball and gently swabbed the ACV all over my face, including around my hairline and down onto my neck. After about 10 days my rosacea improved by about 70%. I continued to do this for about two more weeks and my skin continued to improve, but the bumps did not completely disappear (about 90% of them did).

I began to add one drop of tea tree oil to my moisturizer at night and after 1 week my rosacea symptoms were gone... no more redness, no more bumps. At this point I am doing the following:

- drinking the ACV twice daily
- adding tea tree oil to my moisturizer about 5-6 nights per week
- using ACV topically on my face once per week
- changing my pillowcase twice per week and flipping it over after about 2 nights

I also wanted to mention that I was using a cleanser that exfoliated and I switched to a more natural, gentle cleanser and I think it also helped a lot. I am also avoiding moisturizer that has alpha-hydroxy and use a sunscreen with zinc.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Posted by Robert Henry (Ten Mile, Tn Usa) on 10/19/2009

I have posted many times on this subject , but after 10 years of Dermatologists , with no improvement and following this sites recommendations of Hydrogen Peroxide, Borax and Tea Tree oil with slow and mixed results. I have tweaked the formula. I now mix the Borax in a separate jar and make sure there is crystals in the bottom so that the solution is saturated. Before, I only used a few drops of Tea Tree Oil....... now, I make sure the coke cap is very oily. I mix all three in a coke cap. I coat my nose outside and inside twice a day. This is my best results. At 73 and a very ugly nose after all these years of our Demodex buddies, I consulted a noted plastic surgeon on what would make my nose pretty again. He said I got to burn it bad with a CO2 Laser. I got to think about that. M J burned his nose off and had to use a fake one. I'm an Arkansas Razorback fan, but I don't want to look like a pig. We need to take care of our health problems, but we don't need to lose our sense of humor.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Posted by Mage (Los Angeles, Us) on 10/18/2009

Use apple cider vinegar ONLY when you have the papules and postules. It is too drying and it can cause the condition to worsen. Diluting it is a good idea. I mix two teaspoons of apple cider, one teaspoon of purified water and I add no more than two drops of tea tree oil and dab it on the affected area with a Q-tip or organic cotton ball. I leave it on for about ten minutes or so and then rinse with purified water (make sure there is no bleach on the water). Follow with a good mosturizer for sensitive skin and one that contains ingredients known to help rosacea sufferers such as licorice, feverfew, green tea, colloidal oatmeal, lavender, chamomile, calendula, licochalcone, arnica montana, white willow bark, jojoba oil, and many others.

I have tried many things for the rosacea on my nose. It was getting to the point where I was thinking WC Fields every time I looked in the mirror. While treating my toes with fungi cure I thought why not, so I started paining it on my nose morning and night for 2 weeks. The first night I put it on my nose I noticed that my hairline and my eyebrows started to get itchy right away. I suspect I sent the little bugs scattering on my face. Its now cleared up and I follow up with tea tree oil at bedtime and every time it gets itchy. I put the tea tree on my eyebrows and scalp line and ears as well. Now 6 weeks later and I can see the faint scar that was not visible after the break out. No more WC fields when I look in the mirror, what a relief. I have my old or new nose back.

WARNING

When I was panting the underside of my nose the bristles flicked upwards splashing a tiny bit in my eye and it really burned. Be very careful around your eyes.

Good luck to all.

I have been suffering from Acne rosacea since last four years. Fortunately I landed on this site & read about apple cider vinegar treatment. I have tried it for almost 10 days.. I am taking it internally one cap twice a day & as well as applying 50-50 ACV with water on my face for whole night.

But the reaction is just opposite of what was expected.

Now it has affected my complete face ( full cheeks) and is getting worst with each day.

Please sugest, should I discontinue it?

I really want to get rid of rosacea :-(

I would like to just tell you the website that you could buy the herbs, although I don't know if you can buy them without being seen by the doctor. He has so many formulas that you really do need to be seen by him. I am being given three different formulas. One of them is specifically for the rosacea. The other two are for overall wellbeing for some of my other issues. The one for rosacea has these herbs : Forsythia fruit, Wooly Grass Rhizome, Agastache, Eupatorium, Mint, Round Cardamom Fruit and Chinese Hawthorn Fruit. It might be difficult to buy these herbs individually. Also, your pulse and some other personal details are studied in order to come up with the right herb combinationl. Since I cannot give you his name or website, I don't know what else to tell you. Just remember, the TCM doctors view rosacea as a symptom of a stomach issue. The face and stomach meridians are tied to each other. Healing the stomach will remove the rosacea symptoms. I don't believe this doctor ever mentioned to me that these are little mites living in my face. That was a good thing in my opinion!

Might be worthwhle at some stage to do a survey on what we think causes rosacea. I would be vitamin d deficient purely on the basis of where we live. You couldn't get enough sun here if you tried. I also have hormone imbalances and have taken antibiotics akin to paxil.

I have taken acv using the water I prepared with the boraxed water and had no adverse reactions. Ted has done a list of the combination that are ok and what not to mix somewhere on this site. Search Ted's Combination List.

Robin, I was floored after reading your feedback. I have had a horrible case of Rosacea for 20 years now. Just a year ago, I was diagnosed with hypothyroid and have been on synthroid. (Can't begin to tell you how much better I feel.) But the rosacea is AWFUL. Then, just a couple months ago (in the THICK OF SUMMER) I was told I'm *severely* deficient in Vitamin D. So, after reading your post, I'm now wondering if my rosacea is a result of my hormone imbalances and Vitamin D deficiency.

I've read a lot of posts in this forum about treaments for rosacea, like taking 1 tablespoon of ACV 3xs a day diluted in a cup of either juice or water. Or, by taking borax in water. Has anyone done BOTH? Is it dangerous to do both? I'm so desperate to try something -- just not sure what to do first!

Am trying the ACV topically tonight, along w/ the Aloe. Hoping for some improvement soon.

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide

A staurated borax is when the borax dissolves completely. Start with about 1/2 teaspoon borax to 1 tablespoon hp. Then start to add 1 tsp hp at a time till the borax dissappears while you are stirring it. You will still feel the slight grating of the borax on your skin even though you won't be able to see it. Using a drop of tea tree oil or neem oil should speed up the processs. The mites don't like either and the neem oil helps reduce reproduction of them.

I have a question for Ted? What do you mean by saturated solution of 1% hydrogen peroxide and borax? When I put any amount of borax in the hydrogen peroxide it does not dissolve but gets hard. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks! I have been using this only on my face for about a week and I notice my nose is less red. I am wondering if it makes sense to take borax with apple cider vinegar as one is an acid and the other a base. Wouldn't they neutralize each other out?

After exhausting many attempts with various recommendations for rosacea cures, I finally went to a Traditional Chinese Medicine practioner after reading about other peoples successes. I was skeptical, but have found one doctor who really knew what he was doing. I have been taking the herbs for a month now. My symptoms are 90% gone. I did have a moderately severe case of rosacea. Now, I actually have pretty skin again. I had gone to another doctor at first, but his herbs were not as good. I think every doctor has his own formulas. These herbs really heal the problem of a "hot" stomach. Rosacea is only a symptom of this problem. Good Luck!

I have had rosacea for ten years now. It started duing perimenopause. It has devastated me quite often when there is a social event or even a trip to the store. I went to a dermotologist and he recommended a topical gel. That worked for a while but later on it seemed to aggravate it worse than before. I tried several of the rememedies on this site and I found that apple cider vinegar made my skin quite dry whether I used it topically or drank it. After endless searching on the internet, I found a site that talked about manuka honey. I have taken a teaspoon of honey three times a day 30 minutes before a meal. I washed my face with it and every other day add a teaspoon of brown sugar. If the mixture is too dry only add a drop of water. It is amazing what it has done to my skin. I am now writing to you with a clear complexion and only a very very slight pink to my face. I read that even though the mites are to blame sometimes h. pylori in our stomach contributes to it too. I wish you all well and hopes that this also helps you.

I starting having problems with Rosacea about 10 years ago -- not severe, but enough to make me self-conscious. When I started taking a Probiotic for my candida, it also helped my rosacea. It is all but gone at this point, even though I still have very sensitive skin. A naturopath that I know well says "the state of your colon affects every part of your body, including your skin." Make sure you take the kind of probiotic that is refrigerated (live bacteria). I take one that has 3 different types in it -- can't mention brand names here, but I "swear" by this one. It works wonders!

So.... which is it? Colloidal COPPER or Colloidal SILVER?? Does anyone here know which one the first poster was referring to?

EC: The first poster used Colloidal Copper.

On a separate note, we just found an interesting article from 1913 on Colloidal Copper for Cancer in the NYTimes.com archives!

In the same way that mosquitoes don't attack everyone, demodex mites are probobly the same way. people that suffer from these parasites have many different ractions - some have pimples some don't. Ted does explain in one of his posts that children don't contract the mite because their skin hasn't got the same sebacuos(wrong spelling, I know) oils as adults. I would imagine that because of shaving a man would only suffer this on his nose and ears if he did contract them.

I am confused as to why, if rosacea is caused by mites, why doesn't my husband or or family members have this? I thought mites were contagious. Thank you for your response.

Kitty, If you believe you have the mites - Teds remedies should work. I used 1/2 tsp borax in 2 capfuls of 3% peroxide 2 drops tea tree oil on my skin nightly and left it on overnight. In the morning I used whatever was leftover to wash my face with it but rinsed that off as I couldn't concentrate on work with the tightness it gave my skin. I only used coconut oil as a moisturiser at that time and I also used the 1/8 tsp in a litre of water to drink. I started on june 4th and did this routine daily for one month then for 1st two weeks of july repeated the process every 2 days. Last two weeks of july went to every 4th or 5th day and am now only using it once a week. but still drinking the boraxed water daily.

I would be interested to know the quantities that you are using as you say that after two weeks you cant see a difference. I noticed a difference the first day and it slowed down after that. Although I never had any pustule or lumps of any kind I had the redness and crawling feeling of the mites along with intermittant severe flushing. All I have left is a lot of broken blood vesels which I believe is damage caused by the mites. Maybe the effects on your skin has been different and it may take longer or slight alteration of the remedy.

Bring your remedy with you when you go away, but pack it in your suitcase not your hand luggage. I did this and it was fine. At the most you will arrive at the other end without it. And by the way wear a sunhat if you are going someplace warm as there is not point getting sundamage after all the hard work of getting rid of the mites. Best wishes

I have rosacea and have managed to get rid of the redness on my skin by applying ACV topically after cleansing my face with E45 cream for sensitive skin three times a day. The ACV stings at first but I got used to it. Once the stinging subsides it appears to calm the inflammation and any redness disappears. I still get the odd bump/ pustule but these are getting less. I also use yoghurt as a face mask sometimes and this helps.

While treating the problem naturally, I also use natural mineral powder make-up which covers all signs of blemishes giving an even natural tone to the skin.It is applied with a brush- as it is in powder form. It does look good and it has given me confidence when I go out as no one would know you have rosacea. This make-up is made of minerals Micas, Titanium oxide, Zinc oxide, iron oxide, rice powder, kaolin-it does not iritate sensitive skin and acts as a sunscreen sun factor 15. If you buy mineral make-up check there is nothing else added like fillers such as Bismuth or talc as these are iritants.

It is a struggle but keep fighting. Some people take the anti-oxydent L-lysine - I am considering trying this- I think it is mentioned for rosacea on htis site. Hope this helps.

I have had Rosacea for years, and Metrogel always took care of it, not this time; the last 8 months have been hell, 2 weeks ago I found your site, what a godsend. I believe in natural remedies, do not like to take medication. I have been with Ted's regiment of Borax Hydrogen, external and internal, for 2 weeks, so far no relieve. I truly believe I have this mite that Ted talks about in his message, have every symptom mentioned. My problem now is, that I will be going to Europe for 3 weeks in a couple of weeks, if I interrupt this treatment I will be right back where I started, and I haven't even seen an improvement..............."Please Help" I am so desperate, my face looks terrible. I have also tried Tea Tree Oil, and ACV. "ANY" HELP AT ALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED". Thank you. Kitty

EC: Thanks for the feedback! Are you using lavender oil for dark circles or another condition?

After about 4-6 weeks, all improvement levelled off and it felt like the ACV might be too harsh. I consulted an herbalist, and switched to making a cream of whole fat organic yogurt with lavender oil. I use it 1-2x a day for 20-30 mins then wash off. This seems to keep the rosacea to a low level, without making my skin feel overly dried out. It even prevents zits from going nuclear, reducing them without going hyper red or white head.

I continue to switch out my pillow cases, using once, flipping it over, then changing to a new clean pillow case.

I have found that the best results I get come from meditation. If I meditate regularly, my rosacea becomes almost non-existent. Stress really is a factor.

Others may be happy to hear that I have chatted with 2 other rosacea sufferers and all 3 of us concur that dairy does NOT aggravate rosacea. Eat cheese, drink milkshakes and be merry!

Okay, I've been reading about how mites or bugs cause rosaces. Do they also cause the redness? I do not have the acne associated with it but have extreme redness. Will these bugs cause that? If so, how do these mites make the capillaries burst and cause this extreme redness? Has anyone cured the redness? ACV has not worked. Pls help if you can. Many thanks.

Borax/Peroxide treatment cured my Rosacea

I read one post here from a guy that had been struggling with a Rosacea problem for 20 years and found the cure in Ted's Borax/Peroxide solution topically applied. My condition has only been with me for 3 years but it's been very, very frustrating to deal with. I've tried all kinds of things, included ridiculously expensive 'laser therapy', without any success. Finally I found Ted's remedy at this site, got the borax and peroxide that same day, made the formula and applied it that same night. Well, in three days I saw a complete change in my complexion.... all the pustules and soreness had cleared up and I was looking at clear, unbroken skin for the first time in 3 years. Wow! Pennies worth of ingredients to make a cure for this vexing problem. Contrary to American 'medical science', the mites are it and killing them simply does the trick, at least it seems so with me. Probably, whatever good results come out of those laser treatments has to do with killing the mites as well. Probably the laser zaps them. Well, I'd rather zap them with a few cents worth of Borax and Peroxide than with literally thousands of dollars worth of laser treatments. I want to thank Ted wholeheartedly for contributing such a great cure for this 'incurable' condition.

Thanks EC. Great info. Hi to Robert Henry. It was your original instructions that I have been following. You were probobly the most clear instructions on the rosacea page and by saying that you didn't follow exact measurenments gave me confidence to attempt this process. I was really terrified that I would screw it up by getting it wrong. Could you let me know how long it took to notice a major difference (one that others might notice.). I saw quite a difference the first night but only minute differences since. I do know it is a long journey to be completly rid of mite and egg. Thank you again for your clear instructions.

Borax and peroxide equal measurements + 2 drops tea tree oil. 1/8 tsp borax in ltr water for rosacea. Only using 4 days so too soon to tell re cure but definite improvement. My question is - Is there a major difference between sea salt and himalayan rock salt when using borax and salt to de-flourinate tap water?

EC: From Wikipedia:

Himalyan Salt Mineral Composition

"In 2003 the Bavarian consumer protection agency Bayerisches Landesamt für Gesundheit und Lebensmittelsicherheit analyzed 15 specimens of Himalaya salt sold in Germany and could detect a total of 10 different minerals: sodium and chloride (98%) and other minerals. This agency states that these salts are coming from Pakistan and can, like all salts, cause hypertension (high blood pressure).[1]

German public television broadcaster ZDF presented the analyzed chemical composition of Himalaya-salt who states that the specimen contained 95-96% sodium chloride that was contaminated with 3% polyhalite (gypsum) and small amounts of 10 other different minerals. [2]."

Week two-- update. I would say that the ACV and changing pillow cases has cleared up the rosacea by 80-90%. The weekends are the worst, with midday sometimes showing lots of redness. This may be due to sun exposure or just simply being hot (its summer and I am not inside 8 solid hours like weekdays). HOWEVER, there has not been one pustile or even a serious zit this entire 2 weeks. The ACV brings all little bumps down flat within a day. .... I am adding calcarea sulphurica homeopathic remedy-- 30c, 5 of them, 3 times a day. I would like to have this completely gone, not just much better. I will give this a week, then see about adding or replacing with another remedy.
