Avoid Tomatoes

New to this site! A lot of posts re Lycopene? I have two tomatoes in my salad every evening, but am experiencing pain in my legs! This apparently is caused by the lectins in the core and skin

I have switched now to canned whole peeled tomatoes, and the leg pains have decreased markedly.

It is also worth noting that "force fed " tomatoes have a larger core and thicker skin.

Rocking Chair Therapy

Ahhhh MtM, so THAT'S why I love me some rocking chair time!

As a child, I would get nauseous on a swing but after starting on BSM a few years ago, I can rock and even read in a car!

Garlic in Honey

This is just my personal experience, I am not a health professional. I have right breast pain that runs up my neck, radiates in my shoulder and down my arm into my hand.

I chop four garlic cloves and let sit for about 10 minutes to activate the Allicin, I then mix in raw honey about a tablespoon.

I chew a couple of times before I swallow and this provides pain relief almost instantly. It only lasts a few hours though.

Lysine
Posted by Tessa (Okanagan) on 07/19/2021

Hi HisJewel -

Glad to hear that lysine is working for your pain! I'm beginning to think it's one of those "unsung heroes" that not too many people know about. It's also good for cardiovascular health (among other things).

As part of Linus Pauling's cardiovascular protocol (which includes various nutrients), he recommended 1,000 mg lysine daily for prevention and up to 6 grams daily if you have heart disease.

As for exercise, I'm wondering if getting your lymph moving in a gentle way (like one poster, Cindy, recommends) by bouncing softly on your bed (feet on floor, bottom on a mattress with springs), a yoga ball (there are much smaller balls too that will do the trick), a rebounder or anything with "give" - just to help the flow.

I wish you all the best. Take care,

Tessa

I have hip and knee bursitis. Walking was very painful, esp in the hip joint on my right side. A sports friend told me to take Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM. I had side effects (headache, heart palps) at first and then had to break my capsules open and take only 1/4 of it to start. But after 2 weeks I stopped having pain and walking got easier. Wonderful supplements. Highly recommend to anyone with arthritis.

Turmeric Pain Paste
Posted by Mama To Many (Tennessee) on 01/06/2017

Dear Michael,

Usually when using turmeric topically as a paste, I just add the amount of oil needed to get it to the consistency I think will be easiest to work with. You only need a little bit of black pepper to go with the turmeric. For a teaspoon of turmeric, less than 1/16 teaspoon of black pepper. Black pepper is called out because the piperine in the black pepper is what supposedly increases the effectiveness of turmeric. (I have used turmeric with and without pepper and am not positive there is a huge difference, but I also respect the advice of herbalist Stephen Buhner, who is one who says to add the pepper.)

Cayenne is a common catalyst for herbs, and may help the turmeric, but it does not have the piperine in it, so the "help" from cayenne may not be quite the same mechanism. I will be interested to hear how the turmeric works for you topically. I use it topically for skin infections and such, but for pain, tend to take it internally. I have found it helps with nearly any condition that ends with "itis." (as in bursitis.) "Itis" means inflammation and turmeric is my "go to" for inflammation of any sort.

Turmeric Pain Paste
Posted by Tina (Princeton) on 01/06/2017

Hi Michael, I use a similar type of paste for minor aches and pains but would be hard- pressed to give you an exact recipe. It's kind of of how I cook Indian food - a little bit of that, a dash of this, and a pinch of something else! Here's what I do: in a small clean glass bowl put in a quarter to half tea spoon coconut oil, one measuring of turmeric powder from my dash-sized spoon ( I got it from Amazon) a pinch of pepper and 3-4 drops of DSMO. Mix everything and apply to the area after making sure it is clean. Massage it in well and leave for a few hours or at least an hour. It disappears into the skin quickly and only the golden stain remains. I also only use organic coconut oil, turmeric and pepper. Hope this helps!

Apple Cider Vinegar

I have been suffering with severe back and neck pain for 3 months. I tried getting chiropractic treatments done and nothing was working. I couldn't really take any pain medicine because I am breastfeeding my infant daughter. I decided 3 days ago to start taking ACV. It was in no way intended for my back/neck pain, it was just for all the health benefits I've heard about, which at the time did not include chronic pain. Since taking it, I've been able to sleep on my sides again and my neck pain is almost gone. I didn't even know ACV helped with that so wasn't expecting these results! AMAZING!!! I am a true believer.

Hi again Bonniebee, More on the pain treatment:-

! ) Take powdered Turmeric stirred up in a little water! Boil a cup full of water, let it go off the boil and add a teaspoon of Turmeric. Stir and allow to cool. If you like you can simmer that liquid for a few minutes (say 5 to 10). Allow to cool and you can add a little honey to taste if preferred. Don't boil the honey. Ginger could be included alongside the Turmeric as an extra. Pinch of Sea Salt or Black Pepper also.

2) Castor oil can be rubbed into your sore spots. Use old clothes/sheets/towels though as it is messy (but effective). It's even more effective if used with a hot water bottle as described on this site.

3) An Epsom Salts bath (or foot bath) again as described herein.

4) Serrapeptase (I have not tried this one but it can apparently be combined with an agent to increase absorption). Check it out as I have good reports for this when other treatments failed.

5) Magnesium Chloride for muscle spasms (taken with water). Very effective for that. Maybe spray the Magnesium on the skin and briefly and gently rub over.

6) Celery Juice or Cabbage juice

7) 2 cups Apple juice, 1 cup white Grape juice and half a cup of ACV. Mix up and keep in fridge. Take 2 ozs each day before meals.

8) A smoothie first thing in the morning to set you up. Use mostly vegetables esp. Cauliflower and Broccoli, as well as Carrots, Beetroot and Spinach etc. Less of the fruits as they can contain too much sugar (more than we realize). A few fruits are O.K. of course.

I hope you will choose to try out some of the above and get good results. It would be nice if you would keep us posted on your progress though.

Cheers, Michael

I've had a chronic pain in my teeth for some time now; had a few surgeries and no improvement so I suspected it may be neuro-related. I searched the net and someone mentioned that celery juice helped them to deal with fibromyalgia/chronic pain. I have been on celery juice for a few days now and it has worked really well for me. I usually juice two to three sticks in the morning (I add an apple or carrots as celery on its own is a bit salty) mix the juice with the pulp and drink or rather eat the mixture. I do the same in the evening. Celery contains all of the "B" vitamins, which are said to be essential in treating the nerve system, that's possibly why my pain is a lot less these days.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Blackstrap Molasses

I am 54yrs old. I have had a couple of injuries that continued to cause me pain in my neck and left shoulder. Also diagnosed with Degeneritive Arthitis in my neck, probably due to injuries. I was in so much pain in the morning, so stiff I could hardly move. Also pain thru out the day. I was miserable. This has been going on for approx. 6 yrs.

I came across this web site and read the many comments for BSM and ACV. I figured it couldn't hurt me any more that it already did. After using this formula, 2tsp of each in 6-8oz of warm water, 2x a day, on the 2nd day I was almost pain free. I got up that morning and I wanted to dance for joy!!! I have been using this formula ever since and I am pain free every day!!! Thanks to all of you that contributed your experiences so that I could have mine!

If your son is getting a lot of sore throats and colds, chances are he is deficient in vitamin D3. Next time you take him to the doctor, ask the dr to test for deficiency. (simple blood test) I don't know how old he is but an adult can start on 2000 units/day and work up to 5000. Since I have been on 5000, I haven't gotten so much as a sniffle. (4 yrs ago)

Castor Oil

Castor Oil & Pain:
Call it what you wish, Voodoo, Witchcraft, "BS", whatever, but it DID work for me. Having recently torn the cartilage in my left knee, simultaneously diagnosed "with a little arthritis" in the same, and swelling behind the knee. My Sport's Ortho said that the swelling was common with the torn cartilage but should go down in time. I began searching on the Web for a magical pain relief remedy (other than my already supplementation of Glucosamine Sulfate, Chondrotin, Taurine, Collagen, HA, Cats Claw, Bromelain, MSM, etc., etc., etc - .all of which I have been taking for years due to 27 yrs of cycling but at almost 68yo, something had to give). One subject that kept surfacing on the Searches was an old time remedy of Castor Oil. I'm not in terrible pain, but it is a 24/7 aggravation, as anyone who has similar discomforts can attest to. I decided to give it a try; purchased a package of ladies' cosmetic, cleansing pads (~3"x4") and a small bottle of Castor Oil (CO), I placed a pad on a saucer, saturated the pad with CO (not dripping) and popped it into the microwave for about 35 secs. I, then placed the (105F) warm pad on my knee; wrapped my knee-pad with plastic wrap (to keep the CO from staining the heating pad) and then applied a heating pad, set to Med. heat. I left it on for about 1 hour and when I removed everything, I did a "test walk" -not only was my knee not stiff, and the swelling was 95% GONE!! I could walk with 100% less discomfort and this was 10x more effective than the Cortisone or three Hydraluronic Acid injections I had received in a two months period. The other nice thing, is that you don't have to throw the saturated pad away; place in a Ziploc bag for the next application and just add a little more CO.

I generally apply this treatment daily, each time the knee feels better - I know it's not going to remedy the situation 100%, but has made my life much better.

Thanks for sharing. I was on psych meds for over 20 years and in constant pain in shoulders and most muscles in legs and back. I began to suspect these were causing the pain so detoxed for 3 months and walla! With a little exercise and losing a few pounds, the pain disappeared. Four years later now, I'm living mostly pain free, clear minded and thanking God for giving me the wisdom to do that.

Hi everyone at earthclinic! I am a 60 year male. I found your site after a search for arthritis and natural cures. I started taking the ACV and BS two months ago. It has significantly reduced the pain and swelling between my knuckles. My hips and knee pain are getting better and the food taste better as well. My energy has increased and I am not napping as much. I don't feel as cold anymore and no more shivers in bed. It has also helped my wife with her knees. I can't thank you enough for your wonderful natural cure. I almost got sold on the Swedish joint pain formula but I' found your site and I am now saving my much needed money. Now I am going to start using the H202 inhalation method and I will let you know how that turns out.You are on my 649 list and you can hold me to that.

There was a terrific posting of a WAV file of a cat's purring that helps in inflammation/pain management. I find that when I listen to this file that I feel great relief from arthritic pain. The problem is that I am only able to play the file while sitting at my computer. I want to make it more mobile-friendly and listen to it while away from home. Is there a way to download this onto my computer as an mp3 file? I could then transfer it to my mp3 player for portability. For those who have not tried this, it has been a great pain reliever.

Hi Alex,

I wonder if you could make an appointment with an Orthopedist? You may have a fracture that an x-ray did not make clear. An Ortho would order an MRI to get a better look into the problem. If it is broken, it would not be unusual that you are sensing a difference in the sensation and it would not be all that unusual that you don't know how it happened.

I speak from the experience of having a similar-sounding problem several years ago when my ankle gave me trouble. Our small local hospital did not have an MRI machine, so the doctor simply told me it was not broken. Luckily, my husband advised me to see an Orthopedist, who ordered an MRI, diagnosed the fracture, and put me in the proper boot cast. It healed quickly after that. I hope you will soon find your answer.

I don't like the taste of apple cider vinegar at all but I was in a automobile accident where I was rear ended and had seen accident a chiropractor for 3 years. I would get better than get worse. I don't know what was going on with that. Anyway, I stopped going to him about a month ago because I began to think that he was doing something to keep me coming back so I started to take the apple cider vinegar about a week ago I could not take it straight or with water so I tried it with grape juice it was the way for me.

I have been taking a tablespoon once a day but I am going to start to take it two times a day because it is working some for me so if I double that amount I feel as I will get faster results.

Turmeric Pain Paste
Posted by Michael (New Zealand) on 01/07/2017

Good Day Tina.

Thanks for your thoughts on the Turmeric Pain Paste: most appreciated!

I have been a bit nervous of the DMSO but if that what it takes to get the "good stuff" deep down into where it will do some good, then I must consider it! It's my observation that, unfortunately, the body does not self-heal as easily or as quickly as one gets older, so it might need the DMSO to encourage that process along possibly-acting as a sort of catalyst? It concerns me that some folks who are unwilling to embark on a self-help journey may be imprisoned by their maladies un-necessarily? Maybe they just don't have the knowledge or the self-discipline to take those necessary steps on the path to a more pain-free world? That observation is partly why I like Earth Clinic so much. Often the visit to the doctor only leads to disappointment, frustration or anger or tick all of the above. I have a very sympathetic doctor who, to his credit, has admitted that they just don't have the answers to some conditions that plague millions of sufferers. "Just keep on taking the tablets". You would think they might be clever enough (humble enough?) to learn some wholesome, healing techniques. Being aware that too much specialized training narrows the mind, Mao used to send his Chinese engineers out into the country-side to actually build a dam with their bare hands! Shock horror! So, maybe not in my lifetime! Our (Kiwi) medical training is supposed to be World Class and no doubt it is: Kiwis are often pretty effective in their chosen fields (we "Punch above our weight"-ha) but the two best doctors I ever had were from the USA. - not sure which State they were from- you have SO MANY of them! There you go-a feather in your collective caps for y'all. Well done over there!

Cheers, Michael

Siphoning Energy Technique

To alieve pain from a burn, a technique called siphoning. Put your left hand (it must be the LEFT hand) -- on, over, or near the site of a burn. In my case, it was three square inches of a burn from boiling liquid. Then I put my RIGHT hand in a position that was below the left hand, on the right side of my body. In less than a minute, the pain from the burn lessened -- and was largely gone in a few more minutes. I learned this in an energy medicine class and from my Eden energy practitioner. I was amazed at how prompt the healing was in this instance.

I would like to comment on a problem that I had with my thumbs and right leg. I have worked construction all my life and was suffering with heavy pain in my thumbs and leg to the point that if I was shopping with my wife I would have to sit down every two or three min. to bring my leg back to life and ease the pain. I started taking a supplement called MSM and within three weeks the pain in my thumbs and leg was gone. I have been taking it for five years now and find that even when I work in the yard doing heavy lifting the pain that I would have normaly have gotten from doing this is no longer a problem.

Thank you for this site, I came here to try and help my honey with her RLS and we will try the bar of soap tonight.

I am 68 and feel better than I have for most of my life. I pray that this helps even if it is only one.

P.S. I take 1 MSM in the morning and 1 at dinner time.

Anti-inflammatory Turmeric Elixir

I am quite amazed. I have been taking Turmeric for umpteen years but now that an old injury started to cause bad pain from hip to ankle and did not go away, I found a very tasty drink which made it disappear. I had to repeat it about three days after the first drink. It is so good tasting and healthy --- so here it is:

  • 3" piece root of ginger or 2 tblsp. powder.
  • The root can be juiced or slices simmered for short time in a very small amount of water.
  • 4" piece of turmeric root OR 2 tsp. powder.
  • Juice of 3 lemons, organic if possible and utilize the skin for other uses.
  • dash cayenne
  • 4 cups coconut water. Watch what quality
  • Raw honey to taste, not heated but warmed in a small glass inside a pot with warm water off the heat.

Store in fridge up to three days.

This is a refreshing drink. But any similar drink with turmeric will be good, too.

MahaNarayan oil on alternative days will also help a great deal for treatment of pain.

Namaste, Om

I also ate a capsule of activated charcoal at bedtime for a couple weeks.

In the morning all the pain in my feet I had for over a year was gone and that was three weeks ago and it hasn't returned. Ankles feel so nice now. They were miserable
