The Vinegar helped me so much, I have suffered from AR for at least 6 years & now my stomach feels so good. I can eat my favorite things again like my moms home made Fudge & I love cashews too. I heard some guy in an infomercial talking about his book on natural cures & he mentioned it. I asked my aunt if she knew anything about it so we went to the store to buy some at first it burned so bad, probably because of the burns from my acid in my esophagus. Within a few minutes I felt so much better & now my stomach feels good all the time & I've only taken it for about 2 weeks. The GERD was keeping me up at nights, I lost my voice several times & of course theres the awful Vurps that if someone notices you have to pretend you didn't do. Because no one wants to hear that your foods coming back up on you. It's simply amazing how well it works. Although I don't know if I'll ever be used to the taste. I am once again getting used to eating food I actually enjoy.

Apple Cider Vinegar Suggestions

Those who experience pain with using ACV probably first needed to resolve (i.e. heal) damage due to exposure of the throat to acid from reflux/GERD or to heal up damage in the stomach due to bacterial infestations. That is if you take ACV and you have advanced damage due to reflux it might not feel good. That is, if I'd take 100% Aloe Vera juice without additives for a while to clear up ulcers or the like. I'd take a Bismuth based remedy (Pept-l Bism-l). That is if you have advanced damage from GERD/Reflux the ACV might not feel so good going down or coming up. I'd not take it straight at first only diluted and then increase. If there is pain you might have damaged tissue or ulcerations that need healing. A good month long of daily Aloe vera juice intake should help clear that up...or bismuth based products in the extreme. Again those who experienced great pain were probably at a point where their body tissues were extremely damaged by the HCl reaching places it wasnt meant to.

Better But With Side Effects

Good day, In July 2014, I developed cramps running from the base of my arms, up the back of my shoulders and up my neck. I also got diarrhea and developed a fast pulse rate. I admitted myself to the hospital and was given xantrax, paracetamol and gravol for muscular pain, nausea and any vomitting without any explanations as to what was going on. I felt worst. The cramps intensified, my pulse rate got faster and I had burning in my stomach region.

I left the hospital and went to a private doctor who then took me off of the medication the hospital gave to me. He prescribed penicillin and two other medications which I cannot remember. I used them for a week. That also made me feel horrible.

I travelled for two weeks afterwards and within that period of time I developed a UTI and symptoms of a yeast infection that I felt came on after the use of the penicillin. I didn't treat it for the 2 week period. When I came back home I decided I was not going back to the hospital.

I was a member of earth clinic in the past and I used remedies from here some time ago so I decided to come to seek help.

Recently I realised during the day I would feel fine but late at night I would have the severe cramping episode, warmth in my chest region and a fast pulse rate. Several times I jumped up thinking I was having a heart attack. Then it would calm down during the next day.

Looking at the symptoms I suspect I was having a GERD or acid reflux attack. I never went to check it out. I bounced up on the ACV and baking soda treatment and decided to try it. I started with 2Tbsp ACV and 1/4 tsp baking soda, 2x a day. It was too much for me and I couldn't taste anything in my mouth. So I changed the amount to 1 Tbsp ACV and 1/2 tsp baking soda 2x a day. This still felt awful to me so I reduced the amount to 1Tbsp ACV and 1/4 tsp baking soda 2x a day (morning and at night).

I am on the second day and I have gotten some relief from the attacks I felt during the night. I have noticed the cramps lessened and I could sleep. The downside is whenever I drink the combination there is a dull pain in my chest, my pulse increases a little afterwards, I have diarrhea and nausea/vomitting.

My question is am I doing this correctly? Are these usually side effects from the combination? I have added 1 Potassium, 1 calcium/magnesium and 1 acidophilus supplement to my diet. Any advice given would be solicited. Thank you.

At this writing, I am happy to report that I am still gerds and cough free. The ACV has worked well for me. I am no longer taking any of the prescribed medicines. My energy level is returning to its normal state.

I use two tablespoon of ACV, six to eight sodium Bicarbonate pills disolved in eight ounces of water with two table spoons of Honey added. I use local honey in hopes that it will help with my allergies.

Thank you Earth Clinic and to the Lord for answering prayers.

It has been over two weeks since I came to this site seeking help. I am happy to report that it has been a pain free weeks starting the first day of Apple Cider Vinegar and Sodium Bicarbonate. I am still afraid to stop the expensive meds entirely but I am down to taking them one time at night rather than three times a day. I will wait several more days and stop them entirely.

I put two tablespoon of ACV in a eight ounce glass of water and eight sodium Bicarbonate pills. I add two tablespoon of local honey direct from the bees. Does not taste bad and is effective.

I also control my diet. No colas, no caffeine, no fats, mostly steamed vegetables and chicken breast. For drinks, I put fresh bananas, papaya, apples, Korean pears in blender and blend them to a liquid. Makes a drink. Thank you Ted.

I have been suffering from GERD (acid reflux and heartburn) for a few years now. I have pain in my chest and back and I feel like food gets stuck in my chest. I also burp alot and have sore throat and dry cough. I was on your site trying to find the formula for ACV and baking soda. What is the measurement I need to take of each and how many times a day do I take it? Thanks so much! I am desperate for relief and an alternative to conventional medicine!

Ted can you help me understand?

I have had reflux( Gerd) for the last 6 years. For 1 year I took Prevacid, and recently quit it about a month ago. For the first 3 weeks (while off prevacid) I put myself on 500mg cholin daily, 500mg B5, 500mg B1, 50mg B complex and some herbal supplements along with typical anti-reflux diet I felt OK but not quite good. For the last 3 days I tried an apple cider vinegar drink solution: 1tbs of apple viniger, 1/2ts of baking soda and 250ml of water three times a day. It works better then vitamins treatment but just do not quite understand the way it works. What for is apple cider vinegar added to baking soda/water solution, what role it plays in this solution. After reacting with baking soda/water, an alkaline solution is created. Of course ph of it depends on the amount of baking soda added. Does it mean that this drink works by neutralizing acid in my stomach, basically like an over-the-counter antacid , or are there any other benefits of taking this solution? I know that we get malate as well as the result of this reaction and I am aware of its benefits (more of malic acid! ). What would be, if any?, more direct and/or different influences of added vinegar to the solution in therapy on GERD?

I have suffered from GERD for years. I am that magical one percent in the world that cannot take any modern medicine aka I get really sick (no joke my skin fell off last time I took a zpack.) I tried ACV with a straw and my teeth hurt so bad after a week I had to stop. I tried pickle juice and that made me toss my lunch every time. I sucked on mustard bottles (all I can say is eeeek, gak, ugh! ) So I tried half an apple ten minutes ago. Not absolutely perfect but a whole lot better. I'd say I was left with a two on the one to ten scale (ten sucking like Rancor breathe.) I will try a Granny Smith apple next time, this time I had a Gala apple.

I suffered with a severe case of GERD and tried all the pharaceutical remedies without any relief for over 2 years. I then read an email from some alternative health company and the cure for it was to start eating apples. I did just that and I have not had a single attack for over 3 years now. So start eating apples and your acid reflux problem will go away instantly. I recommend that you clean up your diet as well, eat more fruit and vegetables and don't eat anything deep fried and try to eat only unprocessed food. Too much fat in the diet makes the whole body sluggish and causes candida as well.

Candida acts as a buffer to clean up the blood sugar when the adrenals are exhausted because a coating of fat on the cells blocks the absorption of sugar into the cells causing the body to put out more and more insulin to the point of exhaustion. Candida in this case is there to protect the body. SO before you go on an anti candida regimen you need to eliminate fats from the diet and start eating more fruit and vegetables without added oils. Once the levels of fat are brought down the candida will disappear on its own. No one will ever get rid of excess candida in their body unless fat levels are at a healthy level. You will NEVER get rid of candida completely because everyone on earth has some of it in their body. It is supposed to be there.

See Understanding Candida by Dr Doug Graham Youtube video for a greater understanding.

I just wanted to weigh in on the subject of Acid Reflux & Gerd. At the end of my statement, I have another idea that I have tried that seems to work on the same principle as the Apple Cider Vinegar, so read on. I am 48 years old and several months ago I started getting these symptoms that puzzled me. This eventually evolved into losing my regular voice and experiencing chronic laryngitis. I finally broke down and went to see a doctor. He scoped my esophagus and saw all the redness and a polyp/cyst. With this, I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux/Gerd. First thing he did was subscribe prilosec for a month, one tablet before bedtime. This did nothing, in fact I got worse. Then the Doctor subscribed prescription Zantac AND an inhaler used for asthma. The inhaler has removed the polyp and my voice is back after 6 months and the Zantac has helped reduce the redness but not eliminated it. The Doctor wants me to take the zantac for 3 more months. But like so many of you, I don't want to be ingesting meds for so long. I started researching other remedies and I came across one that seems to be working nicely. Instead of the vinegar, all you have to do is eat a few slices of Apple before meals and before bedtime. It seems to accomplish the same results as the ACV but much easier to ingest and easier to carry along with you. I think I will use the Apple method before bedtime because it seems to be more of a time released effect and perhaps drink the ACV before meals that are suspect for acid reflux. Even though I have cut out coffee which was real hard to due and now I drink herbal and green tea and I try to watch what I eat.

I'm pregnant 32 weeks, and had started to feel GERD-like discomforts from 2 weeks before. (I didn't know it was GERD then of course - until yesterday) I thought it was gas, as that was what the Ob-Gyn had said it was, and abstained from eating my favorite Fuji Apples - (apples supposedly cause more gas) only for the reflux to become increasingly worse, especially at night when bile and acid would travel from my stomach up through the esophagus and lodge its acidity into my throat. (Sleeping on both left or right side didn't matter at this point)

It had gotten so bad at one point that I thought I was drowning from my own acidic bile/saliva that would travel up my mouth and nose. I didn't know what was happening to me and the fear was immense, when I decided to research on the exact things I was feeling (not assume it was gas, but acid taste in throat) when I was led to this Earth CLinic site and realized GERD is what I have and NOT just plain ol' pregnancy-belching-gas.

I had of course tons of apples at home, and ate 1/2 a Fuji delish apple and for not having slept for two days, I was exhausted, and not only was I able to just sleep (with head raised a little on left side), the acidic taste in throat and esophagus was gone by the time I fell asleep, and the next morning I'm as good as new!

APPLES REALLY work! and I'm back to my happy-easy-pregnancy again!

Organic apples are great for GERD and IBS. To supercharge them, take COLD CHAMOMILE TEA. A couple of cups in between meals or at night. Together, they will save you from doctors and their procedures, medications, pain, anxiety, etc.

Trust me on this one. You can do no better!

I was so skeptical of this eating apple slices curing my GERD. With so many testimonials, I thought to myself why not try it. I have been suffering for so long with this acid reflux everytime I go to bed regardless of what I eat. I have tried over the counter remedies but did not really gave me a peaceful relief of my problem. So, without trying to figure out what kind of apple to eat, I ramdomly bought a Braeburn apple on our local grocery. I ate food that I know always cause me to have acid reflux like pizza and then drank coffee and also ate handful of sweets late at night. When I started to feel again the discomfort of acid bloating feeling on my chest, I ate just half of the apple. It did not take long to take effect and the acid reflux feeling was gone. I have tried it four times already and still getting good results. Having this cheap remedy work for me, I will surely spread this around especially to my brothers who are having the same problem. Thanks for all those who started this experiment and also those who shared their testimonies. Roman

Does anyone know which is the best type of apple for GERD? Several have been mentioned. I wonder which is best.
