Ginger

The best remedy for gas is ginger root extract, although ginger tea or ginger powder is fine. This will remove those gases from the stomach. If that doesn't help, you may limit bacterial growth with mannito added to the ginger tea (without sugar) or ginger supplement as this will prevent bacteria from sticking to the intestinal wall so they don't ferment harmful chemicals. And you can add on top of that oat bran everyday. The best is actually prebiotic, not probiotic, which means adding leeks, garlic, onion to the diet to have a normal intestinal flora, and alkalized which means 30 minutes after a meal you take say 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda at dinner and lunch for example. I have taken an interest in ginger because they limit lipid peroxidation, which doesn't mean much to most people but it means a great deal to me as it prevents artheriosclerosis, liver toxicity from oxidative chemicals and restores normal intestinal flora, and perhaps sleep.

Rosemary Tea
Posted by Clj5775 (Canton, Ohio) on 06/21/2011

Recently Dr. Oz suggested we incorporate Rosemary Tea into our diets. He said it helped with bloating and gas, especially in older women. I have noticed as I have gotten older that everything seams to give me gas and bloating is also an issue. I am having a difficult time finding Rosemary as a tea and/or supplements locally.

Anyone have any knowledge on this?

Can't you make the tea with the Rosemary plant like you make Peppermint tea with the plant itself? Or even with the dried leaves?

Fenugreek

Fenugreek's leafy form belongs to the spinach family. However, its seeds are useful when cooking to combat the flatulence caused by certain foods, such as lentils and cauliflower. Its anti-viral properties mean it also helps against sore throat and mouth ulcers. Historically, fenugreek has been used to treat diabetes and is now thought to reduce blood pressure.

As a nursing mother, I take 12 pills of fenugreek a day to stimulate milk production. I still have rank gas. Fenugreek doesn't help me in the least bit.

Dietary Changes

I used to eat a high fiber, low fat diet (norm robillard's low carb approach). The gas started to build over several months resulting in terrible stomach pains after every evening meal. My cholesterol shot up as well. I decided to get rid of the high fiber breads and cereals. I don't eat dairy. After a few days, my gas decreased and I didn't need my aciphex for gerd anymore. When I cheat, I get gas and reflux. Also, my cholesterol dropped back to normal. My diet is vegetables, some protein, small amounts of fruit, some nuts. I walk almost everyday and use a recumbant bike on rainy days. Sugar in any form is the worst High carbs are sugar. Bread in any form makes my reflux worse. I can cheat but not everyday. I was able to take my bed off its blocks back to ground level and could also lay down after eating.

Tim,

I double checked. It is just plain corn syrup in the granola bars. Second ingredient. Thanks for digestive remedies! Z.

If you eat popcorn when you have gas, it will relieve the pain and make the gas go away.

Buy it from a supermarket in the herbs section. Males perfectly good tea. It is a bile stimulant and liver protector. For digestive purposes, I mix it with peppermint but in the mornings only as in the evenings it can be a little stimulating.

This refers to the Gas trouble that Shalese from Syracuse, Utah has. A pinch of Carom Seeds, few minutes after every meal. You can consume water but only after five minutes of taking the carom seeds this relieves you from Gas. It is also a good antibiotic. It cured me and I now suggest every one. I do take it regularly.

EC: Carom seeds are also called Ajwain seeds: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajwain

This is similar to the low-FODMAPs diet, which eliminates foods that cause digestive distress. Lots of info on it on the web.
