I love flax seeds. I going to try the tea recipe. My daughter is having these attacks. I'm using homeopathy to help, but I like the tea idea. The homeopathy, in case any are interested, is: Biliousness for the pain and Chamomile for nausea. It takes a little while to work when it's bad, but it does work. I hope anyone that's having these pains, can use these ideas and save money from surgery.

Triggers

I found that my attacks were brought on my a combo of stress (huge!!!! ), not drinking enough water, and eating a large meal late in the evening with lots of salad and dairy fats, my favorite combo. Too hard to digest. Under advice of a naturopath I take lecithin, vitamin C, fish oil, and GB 6 which is a chinese herb blend. I ditched dairy and coffee and drink green tea, which is a calmative, and I have been symptom and pain free for a year. And, I'm healthier than I've been in ages. My GB was the canary in the coal mine for me. I find that stress really triggers spasms. If I feel spasms coming on, I sip a little cider vinegar in juice, and I take a percocet which my primary doc prescribed in case of attack. In addition to helping with the sudden onset of debilitating pain, it has muscle relaxing properties that can help calm the spasming before it gets full-blown.

I came across this site when looking for feedback on something I discovered by accident. I too have to watch fats in my diet because of gallbladder pain.

Recently I began having plain yogurt in the mornings mixed with a little honey (for flavor). I have been amazed at the positive impact it has had on my digestion and my gallbladder. Hope this helps.

Two Types of Gallbladder Attacks

To Jules51, For your spasms of sphincter of Oddi. Try 1-2 tsp of Bitters (Angostura) in water. It is in the grocery stores aisles with the drink mixes, cheapest at Walmart. It is an antispasmodic and antiflatulent. I swear by it for an upset stomach and gallbladder pain. I know it saved me from an ER visit twice in the past 20 years when I was doubled over in pain and nausea so badly I could barely speak or chew a Tums. Each time was due to meals with hidden fat, which I normally avoid. It tastes like an unsweetened coca cola, has a bit of alcohol, 44.7% by volume. Worth a try, I know I would have been in ER both times. When I can't talk, I am sick! hahaha

Jewels51: To strengthen the Liver/Gallbladder and increase the flow of bile take Triple Strengthen Lecithin and Dr. Christopher's Liver/Gallbladder Formula. There are many herbal suppliers w/ different names to this formula. The one I used to take was called Liveron. An internet search should produce some good results, but if not report back and I can give you the list of the home made formula I use.

I also occasionally use lemon Water to help open things up down there.

Two Types of Gallbladder Attacks

WARNING!

I have gall bladder attacks. People must differentiate between 2 types. One type is due to gallstones and the other due to a sphincter problem called sphincter of oddi. If there are gallstones a flush might help, I don't know, since I have no gallstones based on scans. I do have spasms in my sphinter of oddi, which is a spasm in the spincter or tubes that do not allow the bile to release. WARNING if you have this particularsphincter problem fats will make it worse. Do NOT a flush involving oil or fats of anytime, it will put you in the ER. I was taking fish oil and flax oil and my gall bladder was killing me. This is because fats cause the bile to build up because they are needed for fat digestion. When you build up fats and can't release the bile because of a spasm in the sphincter that will not let the bile flow out into the digestive system, the gall bladder overfills and backs into the pancreas at times. If you do an oil flush or increase fats pain will increase!!!! Removal of gall bladder does not help this because the sphinter is not removed with the gall bladder and in fact, gall bladder removal will often make this condition worse. I don't know the cure, however, my gall bladder and pancreatic pain calmed almost completely when I stopped the flax and fish oil and cut down on fats in general. Now if anyone knows how to get the gallbladder sphincter to relax from spasm and release the bile, WITHOUT using fats or oils, I would love to know the answer so Please POST it.

I tried this tonight after about an hour and a half of pain, I put about a teaspoon and a half of ACV in about 150mls of orange juice and within 5 minutes I can't believe it I feel so much better, not completely gone but I am no longer in discomfort : thank you so much for this thread. I am going to try and get some sleep as it is 4:30 am.

Pickle juice is always something that works quickly for me when having gallbladder attacks. I will try ACV and apple juice next time too, or use it in case the pickle juice doesn't work. If the ACV and apple juice doesn't work for you try drinking about 1/2 cup of straight pickle juice. I hope that information gives someone some relief. Thanks for sharing everyone.

Betaine HCL
Posted by Steve (Florida) on 01/05/2014

I just hope that this message reaches as many gallbladder attack victims as possible because what I am going to state is the absolute truth and the last thing I want to see happen is another senseless surgery. When you feel an attack coming on or if it is in its peak pain just take one 600 mg tablet of betaine HCL and the attack will subside in just a few minutes. People get these attacks due to their stomachs not producing enough natural HCL. 50% of the people above 40 yrs old have this problem. HCL naturally stimulates the gallbladder to pass bile and stones through the duct. It is wise to take 100 mg of B6 each day as B6 dissolves the gall stones over time. Also, instead of waiting for a gall bladder attack to take the HCL, it is best to take one 600 mg tablet of HCL with each large protein meal. Just give our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ credit for this tremendous piece of advise.

Hi;

I believe I was having gallbladder issues and so I started with 1 tablespoon of non soy Lecithin in morning on food ..and then another tablespoon in the afternoon... I also was doing two lemons in water everyday and 2 tablespoons of ACV in water before each meal...and from advice from great lady in healthfood store have been taking two probiotics after dinner.

I also do acupressure which is called EFT.. tapping. You can look that up. Its been awhile now and maybe more than three months but my pain has subsided and feeling way better than I was. Apparantely lemons and lecithin and ACV wash out the cholesterol in the liver and gallbladder which is talked about here on EC...It might even have lowered my bp because that might have been the cause of it all along..but not sure about that one yet. You might have to tweak your own remedies but its worth it in the long run.. I wanted a cure and not just the immediate fix although the ACV and apple juice works well.

Good Luck

Be careful with Gall Bladder disease! The daughter of a friend of mine went in for a ultrasound to check for what was causing her gallbladder pain and for some reason the young woman's gallstones were not seen in the image. The doctor missed them? Well in time the woman's gallbladder burst! And this woman had nothing but terrible health problems after her gallbladder burst! This woman was obese and the gallbladder catastrophe cause her not to be able to eat much at all. Doctors tried to mend her medical problems but nothing worked. When I last saw her she was walking around and was as thin as a Barbie Doll! But always in pain. Eventually her mother found her daughter on the floor deceased from a heart attack! Please don't ignore gallbladder pain! With protection laws in the U.S. This woman didn't received one cent in compensation. Judges would not help her in the slightest! She lost her case of malpractice in court!

Hello, well I believe I was having gallbladder pain and issues so I was drinking lemons with water and doing tablespoons of olive oil.. I also added lecithin and doing acupressure. I also use ACV in water three times a day..and have added probiotics but not until just this week at the suggestion of healthfood store nutrionist and health guru.. The woman is in her 80's and works and looks great.

Now I have no idea what is making the pain less and less unless its a combination of all above but the pain has subsided a lot and feeling so much better....Please please let this be the cure.

thank You All and EC....

I have my gall surgery already scheduled but, its still two weeks out. I keep having attacks and all the traditional medicine just wasn't working without ending up in the ER again. So I came on here last night as a last ditch effort and in severe pain, and saw a post for the vinegar and orange juice. I put 1 tbsp vinegar in one 8 oz glass of orange juice and drank it... Within 20 minutes most all the pain was gone! THANK YOU!!!

Hello Desiree from Florida,

So sorry for the extreme pain re gall bladder. Gall bladder attacks can come from many different directions; liver, pancreas, stones in the gall bladder and ... viruses. If this were me I'd at least eliminate the possibility (15 percent chance?) that the cause is viral and consume five tablespoons immediately of colloidal silver. Likely, a virus is not the cause but I just came across a case two months ago (gall bladder) that the cause was almost certainly viral. Cleared up with silver intake and quit using after a day and back came the attacks; and then consistent use of CS and the attacks went away completly. That one appeared to be viral.

Hi Deseree, Try a coffee enema then do a liver flush as/Hulda Clark to get rid of the gallstones. Search the net how to do the coffee enama as it relieves the pain.

Deseree: Get the 7 1/2 lb. jar of kimchi at the asian market for $15. This has salt, sulfur, spices, and acids that dissolve gallstones. Grind up in the blender with some water and drink. Go on a raw food program or they'll come back.

For a severe gallbladder attack I have found that nothing works faster than a TBSP of epsom salt in an 8oz glass of warm water with a little of your favorite juice mixed in to make it taste better. Lie on your right side immediately after drinking with your legs pulled up. You should feel relief within 30min or less. Be sure a bathroon is never too far away because it will clean you out. A full liver/gallbladder cleanse is something you want to plan for soon. Recipes are on google.

1 T. Raw Apple Cider Vinegar in 8 oz. of water, sipped over a half an hour helps me when I have a gall bladder flair up. If that doesn't work, a castor oil pack always does. I put castor oil onto a cotton (or wool) cloth and put it over the pained area. Cover with plastic wrap and clothes. Top off with a heating pad. I usually keep it on an hour or two, but releif is usually noticed by my in 30 minutes.

Hope that helps!

Hi; I have similar problem and I think it's my gallbladder although I havent had it checked out by a doctor and I probably won't.. What I have been doing is drinking two lemons most days and using cayenne pepper. I have read that cayenne pepper takes the bile out of the gallbladder although I really don't know.. I also use the Apple Cider Vinegar in water everyday... I have to tell you I don't know but my pain is getting less and less and it actually feels like bile is coming out... You have to also watch your diet.. I cannot do a gallbladder cleanse because I take meds but see if you can.

Symptoms of a Gallbladder Attack
Posted by Sammy68 (Cincinnati, Oh) on 08/12/2013

I am not sure if what I'm experiencing is GERD or a gallbladder attack. Approximately 1 month ago I noticed a small, pea-sized knot to the right of my belly button when I pressed down. Whenever I ate meals my stomach felt extremely distended and uncomfortable. This discomfort has since traveled upward and I feel like I have a "lump" at the top of my stomach (even though I cannot feel anything on the outside), just slightly to the left of my ribcage. I have a constant bad taste in the back of my throat. I have been experiencing mild heartburn on occasion. I overall feel very fatigued. I've noticed that coffee and pizza have excerbated this issue. The discomfort traveled upward and intensified right after I quite smoking cigarettes a couple of weeks ago (I am smoking e-cigs, but not near as frequent as I would smoke cigarettes). I have tried drinking apple cider vinegar (with the mother) - 2 T. mixed with apple juice 2x's per day. I've taken Tums... This helps somewhat, however, only for a very short time. Today I actually felt nauseated. Has anyone experienced anything similiar to this? If so, was it GERD or a gallbladder attack? I've read lots of information online and from what I've read, it could be either. I do have an appointment with a Gastroenterologist, but it's not for another week. In the interim, this issue seems to be worsening.

Foods That Trigger Gallbladder Attacks
Posted by KT (USA) on 07/25/2013

This will be quick... When I was pregnant the first time I was so afraid of getting stretch marks I eliminated excess fat from my diet (i.e., no butter on my toast, no mayo on my sandwich for lunch other than what was in the potato salad or tuna salad... The bread was dry). At night I had horrible gallbladder attacks. I later read that the gallbladder needs fat to contract. So, it seemed the timing of my attacks made sense. I didn't eliminate excess fat with my second one. I had no more attacks. BTW, I have no stretch marks. This may not be for you because I don't know what else you may be eating, which will make a difference, but this is what I learned and thought I'd share.

My wife had gb problems for a couple years. Then she started taking one cheap supplement called HCL and started getting the acidity in her stomach up to help digest food. If you have acid reflux Roland's are just a base the gives temporary relief. Second thing she did was drink lots of apple juice for like a week and that softens the gallstones. Then you start doing two or more coffee enemas a day until you stop seeing the gallstones. They are green and gray and the size of rice crispies for her on average. If you want to also get rid of the parasites in your body you can eat coconut daily 1/3 of a fresh coconut a day and do a garlic enema one time a week after you have cut out all breads, sugars, and alcohol. She got rid of over 1000 parasites and 100s of gallstones. I have not done this yet but I saw it for my own eyes. My wife is super healthy now and as soon as she could not get any more gallstones out she has had zero pain or worry about it. Doctors won't tell you this because they don't make money off enemas. I believe this can cure you and potentially cure you of having colon cancer.

Hot Bath for Gallbladder Pain

I just went through a lasting attack, 3 plus hours or so. I will have to try the Apple Cider Vinegar next time. What helped me tonight was a hot bath. My pain was pretty high when I got home from work, I could not get any relief from anything so I ran a hot bath and laid in there for about a half hour. The pain wasn't completely gone in the bath but it provided so much relief and that made me more comfortable.

Foods That Trigger Gallbladder Attacks
Posted by Pbird (Everett, Wa, Usa) on 06/20/2013

Kelly, when I still had my gallbladder and was having much trouble and pain with it the things that triggered it were, overeating period, too many combinations, things like chocolate. What gets it going is when what you are eating needs bile to be digested so the gallbladder tries to squeeze some out. When its full of stones this hurts.

Really simple food and not a great deal of it was best.

By the time I had mine removed it was so miserable that when I woke from sugery I told my doctor "I feel better now! Just waking up from anesthetic and all! " It was so much better just to have the pain gone. I have not experience any bad effects from losing it, compared to how rotten I felt before losing it.

Castor Oil Packs
Posted by Mama To Many (TN) on 06/19/2013

If I have a gall bladder attack, I use a castor oil pack. I make a square of several layers of flannel (I think wool is better but didn't have a wool cloth.) and pour castor oil on it. Lay it over the gall bladder area. (maybe a 5 inch by 4 inch square?) Cover with plastic wrap. Cover with a heating pad. Usually the pain subsides in 1/2 hour. But I leave this on for 2 hours. Some say you should then rise the area with water and baking soda but I don't do that.

Sometimes Apple Cider Vinegar in water (1 T. in 8 oz. Water) will help a lot. I usually do the ACV and castor oil.

Over the years I have figured out what triggers attacks... Caffeine, dairy (except butter). If I stay away from those two things I very rarely have any trouble. If I have them once in a while, it doesn't seem to be a problem. I also only use coconut oil and olive oil in food prep and almost never eat out. (Fast food, fried food etc. Is usually a trigger for gall bladder problems. )

I was reading through the ACV and apple juice for quick relief of a gallbladder attack and thought about taking some distilled vinegar when I remembered that I had some pickle juice sitting on my counter. I went with that because I could handle the taste of that better- IMMEDIATE relief. Within 10 minutes capable of laying down to sleep. Going to try the cleanse with Epsom salts here soon. Attacks happen about once or twice a year and always when I have having a crap week or two of eating (fast food breakfast is a weakness). This always reminds me to get back on eating better.
