[SIDE EFFECTS]  03/29/2009: Adriana from Diamond Bar, California writes: "ACV and RLS?

My mother and I began taking ACV yesterday, 2 teaspoons 3x's a day. I have noticed some very positive results from this, including clearer skin and the disappearance of an infection I have had for over 12 months. However, both my mom and I had terrible leg cramps and pain at bed time last night. I am wondering if anyone else has had this minor annoyance occur after ingesting ACV? I am a 23 year old female and my mother is a young 50, both of us are very healthy, average build, but neither of us are very active. I read about putting a bar of soap at your feet when you sleep to help with Restless Leg Syndrome. I am going to try that tonight. However, I do not know if that is what me and mom are suffering from. If this is just a side effect from the ACV how long should we expect to experience this? Any help is greatly appreciated."

03/29/2009: T from Maryland, USA replies: "My first thought was that you might be low in potassium, but as this effect happened to both of you under the same circumstance at the same time, then I wonder if it is indeed the ACV. Are you using an organic type with the "mother" in it? If not, try the organic, and also start smaller - just a teaspoon or two once a day to see how your body handles it, then you can increase it a bit. Please let us know how it goes as it could be relevant to someone else down the line :)"
[SIDE EFFECTS]  10/04/2009: Wrldtrvlr from Orlando, Fl replies: "I too have been experiencing extreme leg cramps at night since beginnin ACV, which frightened me. I assumed it might be an extension of the gout for which I was taking acv."
06/15/2010: Lisa from Brandon, Florida, Usa replies: "I cured restless leg syndrome. One thing I used was quinine which is in Canada Dry soda water."
12/07/2010: Cat from Austin, Tx replies: "Sounds like low magnesium to me... Try magnesium citrate and make sure to keep up your potassium. I've noticed that some people get low iron with ACV and thyroid problems. I believe Ted's original suggestion of 1-2 tsp. Is a great way to start, but for those now experiencing these awful symptoms like memory loss, anemia, leg cramps, etc... I would suggest backing off ACV for a month, then trying again with added minerals like magnesium etc... ACV may cause detox, but if it is painful, lower the dose or stop completely for a few. Peace out, Cat"

[SIDE EFFECTS]  03/26/2009: Laurie from Wolverine, Michigan writes: "Hekp, I love taking acv; I take 1 TBLSP daily, but I get a swollen tongue when I take it. I tested this by getting off it and it cleared up. I really like taking the acv it helps me in every other way, energy, skin looks good, eyes clear, more focused. Any recommendations?

03/27/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Laurie,

You might try breaking that tbsp. of ACV down into l teaspoon in a glass of water with meals (3 times a day) to see if that stops the problem of the tongue swelling. If not, you might try Ted's sea salt along with it because I think I read that somewhere in his advice for reducing edema. "

[SIDE EFFECTS]  03/23/2009: Amy from Ohio, US writes: "I have been taking acv for a few days 1tlb. acv, 1tlb.honey some warm water It seems that I get a headache after I take it my head also feels all stuffed up. Like the opposite of what should happen. I'm using regular store acv, getting the organic as we speak. It almost feels like it has raised my blood pressure that is why I have the headache. Any suggestions?"

[SIDE EFFECTS]  03/18/2009: Ruby from Perth, WA Australia writes: "I suffer with gallstones and anxiety attacks, I started using ACV on Saturday, I used to take it years ago with no problems.

I was taking 1 tblsp with honey and warm water. Monday night I had what was close to a gall stone attack, and vomited, though I had not eaten anything to affect this. By Tuesday morning I was nauseous with hot and cold chills and had to leave work early.

I still took it Tuesday lunchtime thinking it was just the detox taking affect (that's what I wanted it to be anyway). Felt a bit better Tuesday night, but a very bad headache and still hot, cold and clammy. I have not taken ACV today as I feel that it must be the cause.

Tonight my anxiety levels are very raised, hard to tell if its a side effect or not. I have been reading that I may be taking too much, should be 1 tsp not 1 tblsp. I will wait till I feel better and give it another go (maybe). Please let me know if anyone else has had the same side effects and what the outcome was.

Thanks"

Is it possible that the honey may be contributing to your side effects? I have a bad reaction to honey sometimes even though it wasn't a problem a few years ago. I would try less acv and no honey next time."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  02/21/2009: Jess from Burbank, CA, US writes: "I started with the 1/4 tsp baking soda + 2 tblespoon ACV back in June. I liked it because it had more energy and my stomach worked daily. After a month I had to stop because I was getting red dots around my ankles which started about a week after I began using the ACV. When I first noticed the dots I did not pay much attention to them because there were only a couple, but by the end of the month both my ankles (front, back, inside, outer part) were covered with tiny red dots which then traveled to the tops of my feet and eventually up the front of my legs (nothing has happened past the knees, its all coming from the ankle and spreading from there).

The dots do not itch, hurt or anything, they are just unsightly if I wear shorts with sandles (I don't go out into the sun, and I'm always wearing pants that cover my legs when I do go out, so I don't think this is a sun problem. I do not wear tight socks either. The socks I wear are loose and breathable). When I stopped using the ACV some of the dots went away, but many stayed and grew light in color but then became brownish (like freckle colored). So now my ankles have a light brownish blotch ring around them with light brownish flecks on the tops of my feet and front of my legs. I finally quit ACV when several dots appeared on my face. Again, the dots were red, some went away when I stopped and the rest turned brown.

I don't now if these dots are a sign of something wrong (too much ACV), do you know?

Well its been eight months since I stopped (brown dots are all still on my face, ankles and feet), but I missed the extra energy and thought I'd try it again, this time I did 2 tsps into 1 liter that I sip thoughout the day hoping the smaller dose diluted in lots of water would not create the red dots (The recipe is 2 tsps to 16 oz water, I think it came from this website or one similar to this site). I began yesterday and woke up this morning with many dots on the tops of my feet, around my ankles and the front and back of my legs (everything still below the knees).

This evening I also found a red dot between my right eyebrow and the crease of my eye (which appeared sometime this afternoon/evening, because it wasn't there aroung noon).

Why is this happening? Is it a sign of something serious or something that I'm doing wrong?

I know that "red dots" are not as serious a problem compared to other side effects one might get from ACV, but I'm already dealing with the dots left over from last time which aren't so bad from a distance, but I don't know how much darker they are going to get if they start forming ontop of previous dots, like they are doing now.

I'm sorry to be bothering you with this, but does anyone else have this problem? How did you fix it?

Thank you, I appreciate any advice/suggestions you may have."

EC: http://health.nytimes.com/health/guides/symptoms/bleeding-into-the-skin/overview.html

"Bleeding under the skin can occur from broken blood vessels that form tiny pinpoint red dots (called petechiae). Blood also can collect under the tissue in larger flat areas (called purpura), or in a very large bruised area (called an ecchymosis).

Aside from the common bruise, bleeding into the skin or mucous membranes is a very significant sign and should always be checked out."

Replies
02/21/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Jess, What you are describing sounds like petechiae but I don't think that usually turns into brown freckle-like spots. However, if it is petechiae, then you need some rutorbin (also called vitamin P). A good source of it is greenbeans. Another thing you might want to look into is Paul Linus recommendations for cardiovascular health which is vitamin C and L-lysine."
02/21/2009: Andrea from Oregon, Oregon replies: "Jess, What it sounds like you are describing is petechia. However, not being able to see your skin, I cannot tell you this with 100% confidence. Petechia occur when the little blood vessels in your skin hemorrhage [ or leak out]small amounts of blood. This results in little red dots forming on your skin. What is happening to you is concerning to me. If you are experiencing petechia, it is possible that you may have a blood disorder. Having too few of platelets in your blood [ platelets make your blood clot] can cause you to bleed. Hence the petechia. I recomend discontinuing the ACV and visiting your doctor to get blood tests done. You want to know the concentration of your platelets. He/she should be able to detect a blood disorder or not. Not to scare you, this of course is the extreme condition. It is just possible that you have an underlying condition already that is being aggravated by the acv and especially the baking soda. Do you have diabetes? Are you a bit overweight? these 2 issues my also affect the red dots being on your lower legs.
Please take care. Feel free to contact me for more information :]
~Andrea. holistic nursing student."
04/11/2009: Jess from Burbank, CA replies: "Thank you everyone here at Earth Clinic. I followed your advice and went to get the red dots checked out. The Dr. took a look at it and diagnosed it as petechiae. She asked me questions about allergies and my daily routine. I explained the ACV to her (2 tsps to 16 oz water). She checked my spleen and took several blood samples. As it turns out I am 100% healthy from what the results showed everything was normal, BUT she asked that I keep track of my petechiae outbreaks, if and when they do occur again. (When it happens, what was I doing that day, what may have triggered it, how severe was the outbreak (a few dots or many), etc.) For now it seems that I may just have a petechiae reaction as an allergie to the 2 tsps ACV. So I have reduced it to 1/4 tsps ACV to 16 oz water. I have been doing this for the past 3 days and have had no reaction yet. If it continues this way, after a couple weeks I will go up to 1/2 tsps ACV and continue working my way up to the 2tsps ACV the recipe calls for. Hopefully this way my body gets used to the ACV over time and does not react to it the way it did. Thank you everyone! I love having this forum where we can talk. Thank you again."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  02/06/2009: Nadeem from Lahore, Pakistan writes: "After reading details on the earlthclinic I recomend my mother to use ACV. She is dibatic with angina from the last 20 years. ACV worked ok in the start. She got good reilief from stomach disorder. She used 2 table spoon in a glass of water three times a day. Last week she got irritation in the upper part of stomch and stomach trach. One morning she got loose motion and had vomit which was with blood. We all worried and consulted with our family doctor. The doctor critisize us for using ACV and stopped immediately. He further told us to wait for another day or two to check if there is another such vomit. Thanks to ALLAH every thing is ok. I am afraid now, either ACV is of not good quality or the dosage is more than normal. I am confused. In Pakistan we have ACV of "American Garden" having 5% acidity. Can anybody guide who have similar experience guide me now...thank you in advance"

02/06/2009: Dianna from Austin, TX replies: "i just read your post and i wanted to say that when i first tried ACV (also 5% acidity) Braggs - 1 tablespoon in 8 oz of water - it gave me serious gas and bloating. i mean serious. i was scared to keep using it after that. now i take it VERY diluted - 1/2 teaspoon in a liter of water and i drink 2 liters of this - sometimes with a pinch of baking soda. as long as i take it like this i have no gas and bloating.

good luck with your mother. it could be that ACV doesn't agree with her. she might try the baking soda 1/4 teaspoon in a half a glass of water. that is what i ended up using when i felt sick from ACV the first time and it helped immediately.

TED - could it be that she doesn't have the bicarbonate available to help use the ACV?

someone else will know more.
peace and brightest blessings to you both

02/06/2009: Dianna from Austin, Tx replies: "i just re-read your post. 2 tablespoons 3 times a day is a LOT of ACV for anyone. for me that would probably kill me. i have extreme blood sugar lowering effects with 1 tablespoon once a day. i am SURE that the dose was too high. if you decide to try this again PLEASE start lower. try 1 teaspoon in 8 ounces of water maybe 2 times a day. if she can tolerate this dose then you can up it slowly.

[QUESTION]  01/25/2009: Deb from NI, NH USA writes: "I've had gerd for many years now, and am desperate to get off of the omeprazole meds. I tried acv this weekend with high hopes, sipping on 2 tblsp. acv mixed with 1 quart of water whenever I felt heartburn. The first day was okay I guess, but today I had terrible heartburn even with the acv and had to relent and take a pill. Is there a "best" way to begin acv therapy? How long does it take to cure the heartburn? What can I take besides the omeprazole to relieve the suffering until the acv does its work? Is it possible that I am not a candidate for this therapy for some reason? What is it exactly that makes the acv cure heartburn? thank you very much!"

01/26/2009: Rick from Vancouver, WA replies: "Hi, Why did you use 1 quart of water instead of one cup of water. I just started using the ACV myself, but I drink 2 tbsp in 1 CUP of water, then drank it in a short time. (no sipping) then I gargled with baking soda to stop the acid from eating my teeth. I avoided drinking the baking soda because of all the side effects.

I think it is already helping, but this is only my second day. Last time I mixed the ACV with diet sprite. It went down good and seemed the easiest on my stomach. I hope this helps. Rick"

01/27/2009: Candy from Fort Madison, IA replies: "did you heat the water for the acv? i got heartburn also if i drank it in cold water. but if i heated the water, and added honey, it didn't give me heartburn. hope this helps you."
01/27/2009: Rose from Steedman, MO/USA replies: "Hi Deb from NI, NH USA: You said you are having trouble with the ACV remedy for GERD. Many people cannot tolerate the ACV by itself at first, so just do Ted's remedy instead, The usual dose is 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in about a 1/2 glass of water (allow yourself room for fizz when you combine the ACV and baking soda) taken on an empty stomach, and taken twice a day once in the morning and once in the evening. Do this 5 days on, 2 days off.

I did read on a post here that it's good to let the ACV/BS/Water sit for a couple of minutes before you drink it to give it time to reach a higher alkalinity. Just 2 or 3 minutes is all I do. And then just make sure it's on an empty stomach (or 1/2-1 hour after a meal and about a 1/2 hour before a meal).

Also, if you find you're still belching/burping quite a bit after you drink the solution, it means you need a little more baking soda... so up it to 1/2 tsp. (Ted says to start on the low side then "increase slowly as needed. For tougher cases like Acid Reflux, you can go up to 2 tablespoons but you must start slowly or you will upset your stomach. Most people will not need this much baking soda." The amount of belching seems to be the gauge, lol. Sure hope this helps! http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/acv_baking_soda_cures.html"

[SIDE EFFECTS]  12/27/2008: Sangeetha from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands writes: "I ws using Heinz brand ACV for 5 days before I realised I have to use the organic one as remedy for my food allergies. I was totally fine with using 2 tbsp Heinz brand (diluted in 16 z water with a dash of lemon juice, salt and pepper, so I bought 2 big bottle of Eden brand organic ACV when I found it. I mixed it the same way as Heinz (the ACV might have been just a tsp or so more than 2 tbsp as I accidently dropped more in the glass)and drank some of it before lunch and continued drinking after lunch. To my surprise, shortly after lunch my head started to hurt. I never get headaches, so I was surprised. I hoped it would get better shortly, but instead it went on increasing and the whole left side of my head was so terribly paining I had to take a pain killer. I was feeling so weak with the pain I actually didn't even have the energy to go and get the pill...I really had to force myself to do it as I couldn't bear the headache. To add to this, I had been feeling nauseatic sometime around when the headache started and then I vommitted a lot...my whole lunch was thrown out. I suffered from headache, nausea (followed by vommitting)and weakness and my body felt cold for nearly 5 hours and even then it was the painkiller that helped get rid of the these problems.

I do not like and can't eat apples but because I was perfectly fine with Heinz brand I didn't suspect anything will go wrong with the organic brand. I don't think I am ever going to take it again.

But I would like to know why all this happened to me. What is it in the organic ACV that caused me to have a severe headache? Why did I throw up all my lunch (which is again a very rare thing for me to do). I have read some other readers also complaining of such side effects - why does this happen to some of us? What is wrong with us?

Will the commercial brand give the same results as opposed to the organic one, as I seemed fine with the Heinz brand?"

EC: Quite a few readers over the years have reported great results using a brand like Heinz. Ted thinks it works just fine too!

The only time I get migraine headaches is sometimes after flying (sinus pressure) or if I get too much sun, so I can't say much about that. But I think you might try another brand of apple cider vinegar cautiously once you have fully recovered.I bought a brand of organic acv (gold cover on it, can't remember the name) and got really sick from it. It was too acidic, caused terrible heartburn that lasted for hours. So a different brand might make a difference."
12/27/2008: Sangeetha from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands replies: "Hi Tess, Thanks for your response. I never get migraine headaches and hardly any headaches. I do get a slight headache if I am out in the sun for too long, but that is totally bearable and I don't need to take any pain killer. As for the brand, I doubt if I can find any other brand of organic ACV in Cayman Islands.

Has anyone had problems with Eden brand organic ACV? Which is the brand most acceptable by others?"

EC: Bragg is the most popular by far.

12/27/2008: Sangeetha from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands replies: "Thanks for confirming commercial brand ACV also gives results. What I would like to know is what is the main difference between the oganic and the non organic brands? Does it take longer time to get the results with the non organic brand? Thanks."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  02/02/2009: Jan from Spfd, MA replies: "I experienced ACV migraine side effects also. I used 2 tbsp in water with a dash of honey for two days. Migraines both days, with nausea and light-headedness. Is this detox, or something else? If it's detox, I really can't start the ACV until I'm on vacation from work, because I felt so horrible today that I called out sick."
08/05/2009: Kaffee from Oxford, Oxon, Uk replies: "In reply to Trevor and Jan: it does sound like your headaches are due to detoxing though it is difficult to be sure. Are you drinking enough water each day to flush this out? Coffee enemas work wonders for relief of this, causing the gall bladder to empty out accumulated toxins into the gut for discharge, which in turn allows the liver to further process the toxic build-up in the blood which causes the headaches. Effective in minutes but you must be well hydrated every day to use them. Google 'coffee enema detox' for more info."
10/26/2009: Megan from Warner Robins, Georgia replies: "Msg for Trevor Jan and Sangeetha. I agree with Kaffee. The headaches might be due to the body detoxifying itself. It also sounds like you are taking too much ACV. It should be 2 teaspoons instead of tablespoons. Also organic ACV might have something to do with it and how your body reacts. I have not gone the organic route yet. So far the the regular store brand is doing wonders for me. I figured I would use up what I had on hand first. If both work the same, I will continue to use the store brand for economic reasons. Suggestion would be to reduce the dose per day or try an every other day regimine with 2teaspoons every other day. The 3x per day is generally recommended for when your body is fighting off a cold. For routine maintenance daily your body should not need so much. Just increase if you get sick then decrease dose when you are healthy again."

I find it's best to slow down the intake of ACV by having a meal/snack before a dose or sips. It will give your digestive system time for it to get accustomed to ACV by slowing it with food. From experience and what I've read, some people have a harder time dealing with high acidity of certain brands of ACV. Different brands vary, but it's best to use the organic ones for it being more potent and less diluted or stripped off it's minerals, amino acids, etc. And as for your concerns of heartburn, it usually means that your body is slowly moving the toxins out of your body. It will wear off in a couple of days or 1 or 2 weeks depending on your health condition; just remember to take it slooow. A slight pain, discomfort, unusual boost in energy or better mental focus is the norm."

I have noticed my BP shot up to 180/100 in the mornings.Got worried so I thought I would ask if there are any chances of ACV raising the BP?"

Sometimes when there is an infected part/organ/area of the body, things that cleanse and disinfect may cause pain. Like Rubbing Alcohol to a cut, or salt to a burn, or lemon juice etc. Perhaps these pains, being internal or external could be the pain of healing?

I do know that everyone's bodies are different, and require different amounts of ACV, or anything at that.

Allergic reactions to ACV, the best way in my opinion on this is to perhaps, eat an apple, drink a beer, drink some regular apple cider. Anything happen? If you dont have an allergic reaction to these things, then perhaps it could be healing pains. I know, too simple, but a good way to narrow it down.

Try taking very very small amounts of ACV at first, let your body get use to it. I have a crazy approach to allergies, I believe when we're allergic to something, we don't take it in enough. The human body is extremely good at adapting. I know when I first took Niacin, a very good source of detoxifying the body, my ears and skin itched and burned, everything almost itched and burned, but as i kept taking it, that burning went away, i think once it went away, it meant it no longer had something useful to fight off."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  11/05/2008: Samantha from Sydney, NSW writes: "I have been taking ACV for just over a week, it has cleared up my uti but I am incredibly tired and have felt depressed since I started taking it, I was hoping this was a sign of detoxing but I don't seem to be getting any better. I also have muscle ache especially in my legs, I usually go the gym 3 times a week but since taking the ACV I have been too tired to do anything.

Does anyone know what has caused this? I would like to keep taking the ACV but not sure if it is right for my body, should I take the symptoms as a good sign that I'm detoxing or that it's not right for my body??

Thanks for your advice, any help is much appreciated!"

He has survived Colon Cancer and Throat cancer. Until the past 2 years he has been healthy as an ox. Warning: A recent side effect has been stomach bleeding which his doctors attribute to ACV."

11/18/2008: Mae from Dorset, England replies: "well i think that would probably be to much acid intake counter-acting the bodys balance of acid already-it may have taken a while for this to happen, but that is usually the case when stomach bleeding occurs. xx"
11/19/2008: M from San Diego, Ca replies: "Dear Roz,

Your Grandfather is 93 and still tickin after colon and throat cancer. If he has been taking ACV religiously for 30 years and is just now having problems it could just mean that his body is breaking down as everybody elses does when they are almost a century old. There's no amount of meds, remedies, healthy diet that will keep us alive forever. All we can do is try our best to live as healthy as we can and it looks like your Grandfather did just that. Kudos to your Grandpa for keeping himself healthy, naturally."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  10/12/2008: Sandra from Los Angeles, CA writes: "I tried one teaspoon of Trader Joes organic apple cider vinegar to two cups of filtered water and sipped it over a three day period to try to lose some weight and to balance my ph. I knew I was sure to have yeast overgrowth so to avoid massive die off I started out conservatively. I also stopped all sugars, yeast and carbs. In spite of such a small ratio of vinegar to water, my face broke out in huge puss filled welts. I've always had an acne problem, even now yet at 59 and post menopausal but this was the worst most painful break out since my teens! I tried putting vinegar and baking soda on the infected areas, just soda, just vinegar but could not get the ichiness to go away nor the swelling. I stopped drinking the vinegar and water but after more than a week I'm only beginning to heal from the acne. It's so severe, undoubtedly it will leave some scars. I fully realize that this reaction indicates my body chemistry must be very imbalanced and needs the vinegar and water. What am I to do? Should I try again with even less vinegar? I also did lose some weight almost immediately and want to go back on the vinegar treatment for this as well

Thanks for any advice.
Sandy"

02/04/2009: CheeMiss from Toronto, Ontario, Canada replies: "In response to: 10/12/2008: Sandra (svandermey55@hotmail.com) from Los Angeles, regarding your acne break-out.

This is a sure fire way to CURE your acne once and for all! I have shared this remedy with the most severe cases and everyone who tried it could not believe that they cured their life long battle with acne so quickly.

Make sure you buy natural organic yogurt in a glass jar. (Friendly bacteria cannot survive in plastic.)

Buy a loofa thin face pad or facial sponge. DO NOT USE A FACE CLOTH! Why? If you let a face cloth soak in a bowl of distilled water for approx. 10 minutes then swish it around, you will see all the residue detergent and bleach that you used to wash it come out of it. Not good for your skin!

Pour a little of the organic yogurt into a clean little glass jar so as not to contaminate the larger jar. Use the contents of the little jar for several days, then throw out what's left over, wash and dry the little jar and replace with more yogurt from the big jar. Store both jars in the fridge.

Procedure: Rinse your face with as hot water as you can tolerate to open the pores, using the loofa or facial sponge. Quickly, while your face still feels warm, pour some of the yogurt from the little jar onto the loofa or sponge and start scrubbing a section of your face. Rinse the loofa/sponge and re-apply the yogurt to it. Scrub another section of your face. Rinse the loofa/sponge again and repeat until you have scrubbed your entire face.

Now, rinse your entire face with the hottest water you can tolerate and repeat the entire procedure again. Only, this time, when you've finished scrubbing your entire face with the yogurt, RINSE YOUR ENTIRE FACE WITH THE COLDEST WATER YOU CAN TOLERATE, TO CLOSE YOUR PORES.

Pat your face dry.

If you can do this upon awakening in the morning, and before you go to bed, within a few days you will see your acne disappearing. Even the worst cases will clear up entirely within 2 weeks, but do keep up the procedure for 1 mth., and it will never return.

If for some reason, mths go by, and one should appear, just put a dab of organic yogurt from a glass jar on it just before you go to bed and in the morning it should be gone.

The good guys in this type of yogurt are responsible for the cure. Guaranteed!"

EC: We've never seen yogurt sold in glass jars!

[SIDE EFFECTS]  10/07/2008: Leslie from Jamestown, NC, USA writes: "I tried the 3 T ACV, 3 T Honey, and 8 oz warm water to cure my sore throat. This was a bad idea for me. I am pregnant, so my gag reflux is ultra sensitive. I tried drinking it first, but it really started to nauseate me, so I decided to gargle. As soon as it hit the back of my throat, I threw up."

I am not a doctor or midwife but I have been pregnant before and I have worked in the medical field before also. I have two beautiful, healthy children; I am well read in many different subjects but what I really wanted to say is that I think it was precarious of you to try this remedy while you are pregnant. Did you ask your Dr. or mid-wife first? I personally would not take or drink any concoction during a pregnancy b/c it also affects your baby and if your not used to drinking vinegar or sour things then you will just vomit it up and cause extra unneccessary stress on your body and your baby."
03/23/2009: Angie from Phoenix, Az replies: "i try ACV when i was pregnant of my first child and nothing when wrong. he weight 9lb and 2onces. i think i can say that ACV added extra nutrition. On my second pregnancy i had so many health problems that i was affraid to try vinegar. i don't know why. maybe what i needed was ACV. but you never know what can happen because you can't see if the baby is ok or not if you eat or drink something. in my case it was ok. if your not using ACV already don't risk it. Don't start right now if your pregnant."

EC: According to the director of the Bragg Health Foundation, John Westerdahl, apple cider vinegar is safe to drink during pregnancy. We had emailed them last month to find out... http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/nursing_issues.html#ACV

[SIDE EFFECTS]  10/06/2008: Della Heywood from Emeryville, CA writes: "Warnings / Side Effects:

Hi Earth Clinic,

I've visited your site many times and read hundreds of posts, and sent many people here. Thank You for existing!

I have a thought, which I hope will be constructive. In the spirit of making information FINDABLE to those of us who are seeking healing on our own.

After trying ACV to alkalinize myself, I experienced a huge overgrowth of yeast and I was forced to stop taking it after 3 days. This set me back at least a month in my healing. I could not figure out what was happening until I spent an hour or two reading online and finally came across a NAY / Sideeffect post on your site from someone which explained the sense of this to me. I stopped taking the ACV immediately and slowly returned to 'normal'. Now this is a peculiar reaction to ACV, but it was immediate for me, within an hour, and runs counter to most of the information out there, so it is confusing.

It took determination and a lot of time to find this information, and I know you want to make this site easy to navigate, so I am suggesting that you make the various categories (Yea, Nay, Maybe, Warning ) CLICKABLE somehow, so we can read the contents of these categories without digging for them. Most people would not spend the time to search and read every post, as I do. So I am writing in the spirit of helping the general population.

Also, I thought it might be helpful to mention this action of ACV, because it was so devastating to my delicate inner flora. For those of us who are slowly rebuilding a population, the use of ACV might be misleading.

thanks!

Della Heywood"

I figure out it was the honey so I stop adding it and had no more problems. Also use raw organic AVC which is important. I've read that regular store bought vingar can be toxic and will cause problems. Hope this helps."

You WILL re-build your good bacteria up much faster if you eat fermented foods.

Google: "Fermented foods that feed existing good bacteria.

Check out the below link for the full story.

Also, google: "foods that feed the existing good bacteria.

Probiotics are just a band-aid.....they cannot adhere to the intestinal wall, therefore, they are expelled during a bowel movement. So you constantly have to spend monies buying more and more pills.

FEED YOUR EXISTING GOOD GUYS BY EATING
PRE-BIOTICS NATURAL FOODS, THIS WAY YOU STRENGTHEN YOUR GOOD GUYS & THEY WILL FIGHT THE BAD GUYS FOR INTESTINAL WALL TERRITORY AND THEY WILL STAY THERE!

Feed them what they need and they will multiply within hours. ie: Fermented Strub's Pickles & Sauerkraut.

Do your homework and see for yourself.
Save money, time and your health!

Hope this helps."

I lost 3 lbs somehow right away but have been constipated and am getting some canker sores too - wondering of it is the ACV. The first 2 days I did 2tbsp 2x day then switched when I came across the new recommendations so have been doing 2 tsp 1x a day. I have a sinus infection which seems to be slowing getting better but wondering if I should stop with the ACV. I feel like my eyes are burning slightly as well but hard to tell if that's due to sinuses. Would appreciate any helpful comments on constipation though and if that is a sign to stop or keep going.

Thanks"
05/21/2009: Nonni from Cleveland, OH replies: "Ruemedi, always listen to your body when taking natural remedies. Not every remedy is good for everyone, and being constipated encourages candida and other problems. Also, it has been my experience that canker sores and burning eyes are both signs of too much acid in the system. I would stop taking the ACV and research other natural remedies to combat the sinus infection."
