Fibroid Remedies
"Uterine fibroids (singular Uterine Fibroma) (leiomyomata, singular leiomyoma) are benign tumors which grow from the muscle layers of the uterus. They are the most common benign neoplasm in females, and may affect about 25% of white and 50% of black women during the reproductive years. Uterine fibroids often do not require treatment, but when they are problematic, they may be treated surgically or with medication ? possible interventions include a hysterectomy, hormonal therapy, a myomectomy, or uterine artery embolization. Uterine fibroids shrink dramatically in size after a woman passes through menopause.
Fibroids are named according to where they are found. There are four types: Intramural fibroids are found in the wall of the womb and are the most common type of fibroids found in women. Subserosal fibroids are found growing outside the wall of the womb and can become very large. They can also grow on stalks (called pedunculated fibroids). Submucosal fibroids are found in the muscle beneath the inner lining of the womb wall. Cervical fibroids are found in the wall of the cervix (neck of the womb). In very rare cases, malignant (cancerous) growths on the smooth muscles inside the womb can develop, called leiomyosarcoma of the womb." (Wikipedia)

07/21/2007: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "When the body is sufficiently alkalized, the serum calcium normalizes, causing a reduction in cysts and fibroids. Fibroids are a bit tough since the calcium goes deeper than a cysts and will take some time, sometimes with iodine foot painting now and then might be helpful, such as once a week. Normally cysts takes about a month to reduce or in some cases be gone, as the blood will clear up the excess tissue calcium, thus reducing the cysts. Ovaries and menses can only function perfectly whenever the excess calcium in tissues and glandular functions are reduced.
This can be done by getting the proper alkalization so that glandular functions can function normally, and hence normal menses, as well as normal pregnancy, without the blocked fallopian and uterus problem. Some women sadly can't get pregnant because of block fallopian tubes which can be due to fibroids or somes cysts and the ACV and baking soda may help reduce this blockages, or even a lemon and baking soda remedy will also get similar results.
While the lemon (lime) is more effective on alkalizing and potassium, the ACV is more effective on the body's metabolic rate, and hence some reduce weight is experienced. It doesn't require rocket science to realize all this. Only a good understanding of normal body functions. Ideally the ACV and baking soda is taken 3 times a day, but some people find it more convenient to do it 2 times a day because of the heavy work schedules, or other factors."
02/08/2009: Mary from Galway, Ireland replies: "Could you tell me what how much cider vinegar and bread soda to use? Also, I am a bit confused because many posts mention ACV and molassess instead of baking soda, Which combination is best for getting rid of fibroids? Many thanks, Mary"
EC: To date, we have no feedback from our readers re: Ted's remedies for fibroids. Readers are rather reporting good results from ACV and molasses, 2 popular remedies on the site.

12/23/2009: Christina from Albuquerque, New Mexico replies: "First THANK YOU Ted for sharing your knowledge, it is greatly appreciated. I was diagnosed with one large (13cm) fibroid Nov 14, 2008. I totally agree that alkalinity is the way to cure dis-ease within the body. Oxygen is very very important -cancer and disease can NOT live in a body that has proper oxygen.
I know this is scary having something foreign living in our bodies but getting stressed over this will not help it will make things worst. So the first thing to do is take a Huge deep breath and focus on what we CAN do. And it is important to realize that something that took months or years to grow is NOT going to go away by taking something for a week or two.I was told my only option was a full hysterectomy, I am 41 and haven't had children. I totally believe in getting a 2nd or more opinions. (Unless your life is in danger)
Don't be "scared" into getting a hysterectomy it is a major invasive surgery. For some it is the only answer. I decided to seek alternative medicine, focusing more on the mind/body connection. Herbs,Yoga and Meditation can do wonders.....
I believe by cleaning up your diet and exercising we can get a grip on our situation (I am a Certified Wellness/Physical Fitness Specialist and a Personal Trainer). Eliminating as much stress as possible is a necessity. My tumor was found after one of the most stressful times of my life. So it is crucial to evaluate where you are and how you got there. Do you smoke, drink, eat junk all day? I know from personal experience that alcohol can wreck havoc on your system.
Using the vingar and molasses will help IF you stick to it and make it a priority. And yes cayenne pepper does stop bleeding BUT you need to take large amounts which you can get in capsule form, Native Americans have used it for centuries. Also castor oil packs are great. I use a heating pad for cramps.
It is unfortunate that there is so much mis-information out there....But I've believed since day one that having a hysterectomy is not something I want to do. So I will continue to search, pray and follow my intution that there is another way. To all my Fibroid Sisters I wish you all Wellness and Health :) Much Love ~ Christina"
01/12/2010: Maki from La, Ca replies: "Hi Christina, I'm in the exact situation as you, thanks for sharing, I'll go your way as well. Infinite love and gratitude, And Thank you Ted for sharing your remedies. I'll try my best to follow!
Maki"
02/06/2010: Nichole from Silver Spring, Md replies: "CONSULT A NATUROPATHIC DOCTOR IN YOUR AREA. THEY HAVE ALL OF THE HERBAL REMEDIES FOR FIBROIDS AND BLOCKED TUBES. ALSO, YOU MUST DETOX YOUR BODY AND GO ON A RESTRICTIVE DIET: NO ANIMAL PRODUCTS, NO DAIRY, NO SOY, GLUTEIN FREE, NO PROCESSED FOOODS, NO FRIED FOODS, ALL FOOD SHOULD BE ORGANIC, PLENTY OF WATER, DON'T MICROWAVE, NO PLASTIC BOTTLES OR FOOD CONTAINERS, POTS SHOULD BE STAINLESS STEEEL ONLY IE. NO NON-STICK COATING CAST IRON POT IS GOOD, ORGANIC SOAPS LOTIONS HAIR SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONERS, COLD PRESSED OLIVE OIL, FRESH FRUIT AND VEGES DAILY."
07/13/2010: Tanya from San Mateo , Ca replies: "Re: Nichole's suggestion. My body does NOT do well without meat. I can do without dairy but I get sluggish, both physically and mentally, when I don't eat any meat or fish. But eating whole, natural, organic foods is crucial. And if a fibroid indicates an overabundance of estrogen, then stay away from estrogen producing foods like soy. Just my experience is all. . . ."
07/25/2010: Debra from Christiansburg, Va replies: "I agree with Tanya, Nichole's suggestion is good, but not everyone has the access or the money for those choices. Also, everyone's body is different. I tried a Vegan diet and it made me depressed with anxiety and insomnia. I put meat back in my diet and I am much better. Dairy is actually not good for most people (especially those with fibroid tumors) and the Lactose causes the mucus in your body to thicken and your membranes to swell. If you stop eating dairy and substitute coconut/almond/rice milk instead you will notice a significant reduction in sinus allergies and colds. Choose organic whenever possible. Minimize the canned food. There is range-fed beef in stores which is good. Most of the meat in the stores is from animals that have been fed steroids and that is the main thing that is bad for you. Also, there is a lot of Iron in red meat. Eat salmon or other fish which are high in the Omega 3 oils. I read that Flax seed is very good for reducing the estrogen level and therefore good for reducing an estrogen eating fibroid and they are also high in Omega 3 as well. You can purchase flax seed meal at any natural food store or natural food section in a regular grocery store. Mix a tablespoon in juice 3 times a day before meals. The blackstrap molasses and apple cider vinegar are also excellent choices. Make sure you take plenty of iron, magnesium and B-Complex. Multivitamins are also necessary. Plenty of exercise and time out for yourself is a must. I have three fibroids growing now after have three removed one year earlier. Thanks for all the tips and I am right there with you."
08/18/2010: Shari from Huntsville, Texas replies: "I have a fibroid that has been bothering me. I also got sick w/allergies. I have never had allergies before. I was so full of fluid in my throat and even in my face. It took about 6-8 weeks to get rid of it. So reading your comments, are fibroids and allergies connected? Asking, as I would not have ever come to that conclusion. Thanks"

[QUESTION] 08/27/2010: Maylin from Tampa, Fl writes: "Dear Fibroid Sisters:
Please email me soon, as I am in desperate times with my doctor. She is wanting me to do surgery since my fibroid has grown fm 9cm to 13 cm in the past couple years. Please eamil if your fibroid is at 9cm or bigger and you had good results w/proof that you did go to get an mri done and your fibroid has shrunk after taking ACV with any other stuffs. Or if you done something else naturally to shrink your fibroids. Please email me at maitaz@yahoo.com
What size was your fibroid before it shrunk? What size it is now? how long did it take to shrink to the size it is? What are you eating? Is it all organic foods?
HOW ABOUT PLASTICS? Anyone can email me on this subject as well. I know I keep hearing and seeing to not use plastic. That would be crazy.... Everything is in plastic. Meats wrapped in plastic. Fruits and produce wrapped in plastic. I have plastic food containers I used all my life.... So I have to go and get all GLASSWARE to store all foods now? I even email Zephyrhills water and they said the plastic bottle they use are safe to drink from. Its just so much info to take in and so much plastic around us. Creams. Lotions are in plastic. The dish holder is plastic where I put my dishes after washing them. The shampoo bottles are plastic.... So even the organic products are in plastic containers.... So I don't know what it means to NOT USE PLASTIC?
I know not to microwave my foods in plastic for sure. I try to drink out of glass. Email me if you have answers on PLASTIC usage. But mainly.... Please email me on uterine fibroids. Let me know how you shrunk yours. I so appreciate your time and I can't express how upset/depressed it has caused me on this subject. Please help. Email me at
Maitaz@yahoo.com
Thank you so much, Maylin"

[YEA] 11/10/2009: Cathy013 from Monroe, Louisiana, USA writes: "I suffered from VERY heavy bleeding and was diagnosed with uterine polyps and possible fibroids. First was told hysterectomy; I didn't want this so I was prescribed a hormone; made the cramping, etc., WORSE; a year later I had more tests - same problem, heavy bleeding & cramping - the tests (such as saline ultrasound) were so UNCOMFORTABLE and no relief, still recommended surgery which I really didn't feel comfortable about. I searched "natural remedies for fibroids, heavy bleeding, etc." and found this site. Tried ACV and black strap molasses first (1 dose of the molasses-could NOT handle that!); then tried the ACV with baking soda (2 TBSP natural ACV from health food store and 1/2 to 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 8 oz water once daily has worked for me). I started this in August; it is now November and I feel SO MUCH BETTER! It is unbelievable - very little bleeding at regular cycle time - little to no cramping; and I was in misery before-periods lasted for weeks and would only stop for a few days and then start again. I no longer have that problem-haven't since I started the ACV & baking soda in August. It WORKS!"
[YEA] 12/17/2009: Sarah from Chapel Hill, Ncc replies: "I started taking ACV about a month ago for fibroid relief and I noticed a significant, positive change in my heavy flow and cramping. For the last year or so, I would have to remain inside and well medicated for the first few days of my cycle. I even had a recent, 3-day hospital stay in October for severe anemia, due to blood loss and received a blood transfusion during that time. It was a scary ordeal. In November, after trying ACV, I noticed my cramping had subsided and my flow was lighter. The first two days were still a little heavy, but I could visit my family during Thanksgiving and enjoy the holidays without any "accidents". I'm still taking it and can't wait to see how this month goes!"
12/29/2009: Yoli0226 from Durham, Nc replies: "Sarah-how long did it take for you to notice a change?"
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 01/05/2010: Sarah from Chapel Hill, Nc replies: "I was admitted into the hospital in Oct. for excessive bleeding after fainting in the shower. I found this website the following week. I began drinking a shot-glass of apple cidar vinegar daily immediately. I also ordered the blackstrap molasses tablets, which I've been taking daily for 2 months. So I would say I started seeing positive results during my Nov. and Dec. menstral cycles. I just received my shipment of ACV tablets. Good Luck!"

[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS] 07/28/2009: Steff from St Thomas, USVI writes: "Hi, I have been diagnose with Fibroids, I had a myectomy before. I was looking forward to having more kids, I have two boys, my husband has none so I wanted at least one with him. Over the last three years my cycle got so bad that I was bleeding for two weeks straight. Then I would go to the Dr. to get pills to stop the bleeding. Then over the last couple years my cycle started becoming irregular, the clots were heavier and more painful. I started really praying that God would shot the mouths of the fibroids so that they would shrink. When my cycle stopped for a month or two I would go back to the Dr. to get pills to make it come again. But recently, I noticed that I have lost some weight, got more energy and the itching stopped, well, I have been drinking ACV every morning to start my day before working out and now I have gone from heavy periods to no bleeding. I'm concern about that and wondering if the ACV could stop one's cycle. I feel great. I don't have pain and large clots, my energy is up, my weight is coming off, the varginal itch has stopped; these are great things but I wanted more kid(s) and I'm in my early 40's and concern. Any ideas or comments or suggestions. I'm curious as to my next sonogram which is scheduled for next month. So will ACV stop or slow down cycle?"
08/07/2009: Ikhlas from Montreal, Quebec replies: "This is my answere to STEFF from ST.THOMAS. I experienced the same problem, what i did, i stopped having the acv one day before my cycle, and also during my cycle. And then i continue using it again and, every thing goes normally. The measurements is 2tbs disolved in 1 cup of water three times a day. GOOD LUCK."

[NAY] 05/27/2009: Melanie from Venice, Florida writes: "I was wondering if i am using ACV correctly and how long it actually takes to see improvements. I started to drink ACV in a 16 ounces bottle everyday since my last menstrual hoping it would help (I was diagnosed with fibroids 4 years agao) but 1 month later i can sadly report that nothing has changed. I still have terrible abdominal pain and heavy bleeding.. :( Please help me i am going crazy!!!! Also, can someone tell me where to find blackstrap molasses??? Thank you in advance."
EC: Most grocery stores carry at least one brand of blackstrap molasses. If not, Whole Foods Market has a good number of brands.. Finding it online will be a piece of cake, too.
05/28/2009: Candy from Fort Madison, IA replies: "get yourself some transdermal magnesium or you can find a good magnesium supplement if you look hard enough. hope this helps you."
05/30/2009: Melanie from Venice, Florida replies: "Thank you Candy. I will try that!"
05/30/2009: Dibenja from New York, New York replies: "You can get Blackstrap Molasses from any healthfood store and many supermarkets.
Are you using baking soda with the ACV? I have large fibroids and have just discovered this site. I tried the BS and ACV and am amazed at the relief I have experienced. I had very very heavy bleeding. I could soak a pad in 15 minutes. Now with this "cure" I have more normal cycles. I have been using this for 3 months and happy with the reduced hemoraging. I'm not exactly sure how it works but I think it has something to do with alkalizing the blood and blood calcium levels.
good luck"
07/14/2010: Liz from Tampa, Fl replies: "I've just started reading a few responses & haven't seen anyone discuss UTERINE ABLATION. I had it done about 5-6 yrs. Ago. It worked wonders for bleeding (only a few spots now) & my gyn now does them routinely in the office. Look it up - google it! My fibroids are no longer an issue either. The cramps are much better also and although my diet isn't great, I started jogging, which does help the cramping to where they are practically non-existent. I am also on a topical progesterone cream."

I went to the doctor and had the Mirena (IUD) placed in to control the heavy bleeding. During my 6weeks checkup the IUD apprently came out. I was sent to have an ultrasound done and the fibroid had degenrated. I also lost 22pounds in 6weeks. My doctor wanted to removed my uterus, but I prayed about it said no to the surgery. Thank God for ACV!!!!"

[YEA] 01/25/2009: Marina from Cape Towm, South Africa writes: "I live in South Africa and have a friend who had been suffering with seven painful uterine fibroids for four months. Unfortunately, she couldn't afford health insurance, and in the Township where she lives, the hospital facilities are not exactly confidence inspiring. As result, she was afraid to go there for a much needed operation.
In desperation, she came to stay with me. She was at her wits end and almost suicidal from the never ending pain. I took her to my local doctor. After examining her he announced he could do nothing further, except prescribe pain killers and give her a letter of introduction to a much better free hospital. That hospital scheduled an appoint for a consultation some three months later. She was sleeping most of the day, unable to eat without vomiting afterwards. Could not bend over, nor have a proper bowel movement.
Even after the hospital consultation, she'd probably have to wait six months to year to actually have the op, as fibroids are not regarded as priority cases. This made her even more depressed and tearful. I started juicing for her; fresh fruit and veggie juices in place of meals. She got somewhat better and the pain was less, but she was still in very bad shape and zonked out from the pain killers and stress. Finally I gave her apple cider vinegar. One tablespoon in a little water, three times a day. Within two days she was totally free of pain. She had good bowel movements and regained ALL of her previous strength, energy and vitality within a week.
That was two months back. Since then she has telephoned me to say she feels terrific and thinks the fibroids are gone. She will not be going for that operation now! ACV IS A MIRACLE. (I understand it also works just as well for period pains.)"
04/22/2009: Pat Johnson from Kingston, Jamaica replies: "A Question How do you use the ACV for fibroids?"
EC: Per the feedback below: Drinking "One tablespoon in a little water, three times a day."

[YEA] 11/05/2008: Judy from Cincinnati, Ohio writes: "I have to say I was a total skeptic when I was reading about ACV & how it helps with menstrual problems. I suffered from fibroids & had 5 pounds of them removed last year. I also had been having a cycle about every 2 weeks which was driving me crazy that I thought having the fibroids removed would have cured. I tried ACV during the beginning of my last cycle & am very happy to report that it gave me a regular cycle of 28 days!!!! It has been over 2 yrs since I had a regular cycle of 28 days & this was done without the aid of birth control pill ~ YEAH!!!! Also, when I went back to the surgeon who removed my fibroids last year, he was surprised to find only 1 small growth of a fibroid. He said that he thought for sure that he would be going back inside of me again to remove more fibroids because typically they grow back after a year. I was so very happy about this :)"

[YEA] 08/16/2008: Tijuana from Chicago, Illinois writes: "I just want everyone out there to know that I suffer from fibroids (the heavy cycle, anemia...). On August 12, 2008 I began using apple cider vinegar after visiting the site. Now almost a week ago whenever I would bend over it would feel as if I had a cramp right above my stomach. As of today August 16, 2008) I cleaned my whole house-bending and stretching. I didn't feel a thing! I hope that these pesky fibroids are beginning to shrink. Thank you so much for the useful site info."
05/03/2009: Eva from Sydney, Australia replies: "Hi, Can you tell me if you only used ACV or added anything else like lemon or baking soda. If you used ACV only how many times did you take per day and in what quantity. I am booked in for an operation in June for fibroids and would like to try it out. I dont want to lose my uterus as I dont have any kids yet."
[YEA] 06/03/2009: dawndaisy from Los Angeles, Ca replies: "I have been taking 2-3 TBSP of ACV in water with either 1 TBSP agave or 1 TBSP grade B maple syrup mixed with 20-30 oz of water and ice. I drink this all day. Since I was 16 I've bled mid cycle and self diagnosed myself with fibroids (no insurance). I've been with this regimine for over a year and all the bleeding midcycle has stopped and my periods are 5 days long, whereas before they were 7-9 days. I also take 1 TBSP black strap molasses everyday in yogurt, smoothie or raw milk. I credit these two things to regulating my period and am now working on getting pregnant!"

Thank you for opening my eyes to the awesome healing power of ACV. As a pharmaceutical sales representative I can admit the side effects from most drugs are not worth it. Natural remedies are truly the way to go - I should switch to the other side - we need more naturopathic sales reps in our country! I will report my progress w/ACV & grape seed extract soon. Thanks!"

01/06/2009: Jennifer from Mount Vernon, WA replies: "Does anyone know if they make ACV in a pill form? I am sure it would be missing something, but it would be better than not taking it at all! Thanks"
EC: Yes, acv in pill form is available online and at health food stores. However, it's not nearly as effective as drinking acv!

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND BAKING SODA

1 QUESTION
[QUESTION] 07/03/2010: Janice from Apex, Nc writes: "Hi, I have a question for Ted. I have just the last couple of weeks begun taking 1/2 tsp baking soda w/ 2 Tablespoons of ACV in 8 oz of water three times per day to try and reduce or rid myself of fibroids. While at home, I use a glass container to drink from. But at my office, I use an aluminum water bottle, as I was concerned with using plastic because of BPA. However, now I'm concerned with whether either the baking soda or the ACV will cause me to consume aluminum from my water bottle at work. Can you please address the issue of whether either plastic or aluminum are safe with this remedy, or whether it is always best to use glass containers. I've read many posts on your site, but I've never seen the issue of the type of container addressed with the use of ACV. Thanks very much for the help. I do find this site to be wonderful and am glad that I found you!"

03/14/2010: Diana from Boston, Massachusetts, United States writes: "I just found this site today. I am so grateful. I have read thru most everyones comments on this topic and wanted to thank everyone for sharing their experience.
My situation is a little different. I have many symptoms and not certain if they are all connected or from several medical problems.
Started some years ago with Thyroid/hashimoto's disease - first illness - taking thyroid hormones since they iradiated it. Next, hair loss - got scalp injections from dematology for this 5% cortizone shots. Long treatments but it worked. Since then I have developed these fibroids and excema. Are all these things connected? Also vision has gotten bad, now wear glasses. Also, Acid Reflux. Never took the script they gave me, but I did switch my diet some what.. after reading here I need to do more!
On the topic of fibroids, I too was diagnosed a couple of years ago and told to be sent into early menopause. I said no. I dont have heavy bleeding like alot of people here are saying, but I have excruciating pain! Feels like razors or boulders going thru my falopian tubes on the left side. Every month. Plus, I get low grade fevers and feel like I have the flu every month. Typical flu symptoms- headache, fever, naseau, vomiting. Litterally bed bound monthly for two weeks with these flu symptoms. I know there is no way I can have the flu every month and went back to the doctors. They paid no attention to my complaints about the flu as of yet. I have had a stomach CT scan and the results where clear, more fibroids - they are in my tubes, in my uterus and on my ovaries. They scheduled an Upper GI and a pelvic ultrasound. I am at my wits end with the pain!! Today thanks to this site I started the 2 tbspn of Apple cider vinegar mixed with 1/4 Tspn baking soda..and will take it twice or three times a day.
I have gained 40 lbs in the past year, yes, all tummy. Thinking that maybe its all from fribroids? Or alot of it anyway. Two years ago I didnt have uterine fibroids. Im hoping it helps and will let you know as things progress. Thanks to everyone for your openness and willing to share your experiences."
03/14/2010: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Diana from Boston,
Type "potassium iodide" in search window and click on go or search. When references appear pull up one from Tahoma Clinic. I suggest you print this one out for future reference because SSKI is useful for much more than fibroids. This article is written by alternative doctor Jonathan Wright and is very useful and everything I have used SSKI for has been as he said in this article. One other thing he didn't mention is that 2 drops per day helps keep our stomach producing HCl acid for digesting our food."
03/18/2010: Diana from Boston, Ma replies: "To Joyce from JoeltonI found the article you spoke of: Tohoma Clinic Dr Wright- here is the link for the future, I had to google for it because all that came up from this site when I searched were your posts telling people to look it up.. here is the link for others for future reference- you should just post the link instead: http://www.tahomaclinic.com/iodide.shtml
So I have some questions about the use of SSKI or Potasium Iodide : First, I am hypothyroid and spoke with my doctor just today and she said to avoid Iodine. So I am reluctant to take this product.
Second, I also had my Pelvic Ultrasound today and they found 2 Fibroids in the uterus just slightly larger than golf balls. One on each side. With this help with my fribroids? Did not see that mentioned on the site. Also, I am type A blood, noticed that people with Type A blood are not suppose to take Apple cider Vinegar. Although at this point its either surgery or the ACV or some other remedy.
I did notice and found it interesting that the SSKI is also used to treat people that have been affective by Nuclear Fallout. I was in the service and I was the Nuclear Biological and Chemical Weapons Officer and was exposed to radiation and Perchlorate sulfates alot (dry cleaning fluids) we used them to clean parts of things.. weapons, helicopter parts etc.) I remember having my arm - pit deep in barrels of the stuff on many occassions. As well as a nuclear densomitor which I had to use quite often. Holding it by the spoke that you put in the soil. Was not aware at the time it emmited large amounts of radiation.
Do you think these things could have caused all my ILLS? Hypothyroidism, Copd, asthma, fibroids, diverticulosis and diverticulitis? Seems like all these things are listed on the tahoma site. If I could find a common cause then maybe I could find a common cure? Could use your input.
Thank you for posting to me - I appreciate your feedback and assistance from everyone."
03/18/2010: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Diana from Boston,First a question or two. Is your thyroid just sluggish and still functioning or totally wiped out? If it is still functioning then it needs some iodine to function properly, so why did your doctor tell you to avoid it? Hopefully you also picked up on the use of SSKI to liquify secretions in the respiratory tract so you can get them out, which means that it should help with asthma and COPD. Another thing to consider if it is just sluggish is that a deficiency of B complex vitamins causes a sluggish thyroid, so I suggest that you get a good stress tab (B complex with vitamins C & E) and take 1 at mealtime and bedtime although the container will tell you to take 1 a day.
Another question, while you were up to armpit in the goop in the service, were you taking SSKI or anything to protect your thyroid from radiation? If not, it is unlikely that the radiation isn't part of the cause of your problems.
I have also read that those with asthma are low on selenium. Wild cherry bark tea is supposed to be good for asthma. You might also want to read Bill's inhalation method of H202 for the asthma and COPD. I am all for trying what is likely to help, and not likely to harm with unwanted side effects. I also recall reading in EC about someone curing their COPD with a home remedy which included mullein, so you might want to look this up. Mullein is a very easy to identify wild plant, but since it mentioned using the seed pods, you won't likely find seed pods until this coming fall. Some herbal shops might sell them though.
Could you share your source for the recommendation that people with type A blood should not take ACV? I think I am type A and I have been taking ACV/honey for a long time (at least 40-50 years) and I am still alive and kicking.
I believe that if you reread Dr. Wright's article on SSKI, you will find that he mentions cystic breast disease. But you would have to follow what your thyroid is doing because you would be taking it for several months and it can suppress the thyroid. I figure that if it gets rid of fibroids in the breast, it should also get rid of fibroids in the uterus or elsewhere.
My breasts were nothing much but lumps for years. I can't say for sure that vitamin E is what got rid of them, but vitamin E is what I had added to my daily vitamins, and several months later I was surprised to find that all my lumps were gone and replaced with normal breast tissue, so if you aren't taking vitamin E, start taking at least 400 IU/day and see what happens.
To find out how much perchlorate sulfates might have done to you, just type it into a search window and if you find that it has been a big part of your problem, print it out and take it with you to visit the VA Hospital doctors and put in a claim for the damage done to your health by the exposure. Hope you find some of this useful and hope your health improves. "

[NAY] 01/20/2010: Tricia from Newcastle writes: "Acv and Baking soda for fibroids
I read about people on your site using ACV and Baking soda for excessive bleeding associated with fibroids. I had excessive bleeding for three months and found out I had 2 large fibroids in my uterus. I tried your formula and the bleeding persisted. The second week I had forgotten to use the acv/baking soda and by the end of the day my bleeding had slowed us, alot! The next day I used the formula again and once again started bleeding, the next day and there on I stopped using the formula and the bleeding slowed up considerably. So I immediately stopped using the acv/baking soda. It may help alot of people but not in my case. But I felt it was worth a try."

Over 3 years ago I experienced my menstrual cycle lasting longer and longer and I checked with a couple Ob-Gyn's who really did not listen to me. While moving to another state, the first visit to a general practitioner she asked me have you had an ultra-sound done. I went to get an ultra sound done and they found a cyst on my ovary and I had fibroids. Great.... well at least I know what it was that was causing this additional bleeding. I went to see an Ob'Gyn and she told me to go on the pill to reduce the cyst that started to work but the bleeding from the fibroids got worst to the point I bled for 3 months straight without stopping and the doctor did not seem concerned or knew what was going on. I was desparate and tried looking for home remedies and found this website. Never heard of apple cider vinegar until I found this site and I tried Ted's remedy. That is ACV with baking soda and the bleeding ceased in less that one day. I take six to eight ounces of water with two tablespoon of ACV organic and quarter teaspoon of baking soda twice a day and it works for me. Thank you all for posting your experiences on this website. It is greatly helped me. I have my second opinion coming up and will give an update if the cyst and fibroids have shrunk. I will also try the blackstrap molasses for my anemia. God Bless You!"

It has since come back and my periods are unbearable. I also have severe break-thru bleeding. My Dr. has put me on a higher dose of Birth control to control the bleeding. It has slowed down, but I don't like the side effects of the BC. I have been reading many posts of the ACV and Baking Soda.I would like to know how long do you use this remedy. Is it everyday? And should I still take the birth control with this remedy? I am so so so desperate for help! My next step is a hysterectomy and I am not ready for that. I am only 31 years old. Please Help me!!

[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS] 05/19/2009: Kim from Santa Monica, Ca writes: "I am writing in because for the last 6 months I had been suffering from an issue with Fibroids. I had non stop bleeding sometimes extremely heavy periods to the point were my blood count level was around 7.2 . at one point I was given a blood transfusion because of the amount of blood loss. I went to see my Dr. who did a biopsy and ultrasound and had determined that I was suffering from Fibroids and this was the reason for the continuous bleeding.
My Dr. gave me two options, to have an IUD inserted with no guarantees that this would work and may fall out or a Hysterectomy. I was also taking birth control pills to try to stop the bleeding as well with no results. I read the recommendations for ACV and Baking Soda for Fibroids and I decided to try it. The first couple of days I was not feeling too well, I felt really weak and had no energy, however , I took it for about 1 week and the bleeding has stopped. I now have another appointment to see my Dr , for another exam to see if the Fibroid is still there. I want to thank Ted for the recommendation and say I feel great! thanks again"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 05/27/2010: Philippa from Germany writes: "Fibroids and Cysts
Due to a 6 cm intramural fibroid (diagnosed 18 months ago at 3,8 cm), I had been suffering terribly from heavy bleeding, debilitating cramps and breakthrough bleeding for over 15 months. On the 2nd day of my cycle, I would have to use 3 super plus tampons plus pads every hour for a 10 - 20 hour period of time. This was accompanied by such terrible pain that I couldn't walk without bending over. I would take 400 mg ibuprofen every 4 hours over a 24 hour time span, but still suffer tremendous pain. My periods would last between 7 and 10 days, though the bleeding was typically light after the 5th or 6th day. More often than not, I would then have bleeding or spotting between periods. As my cycles are relatively short (23 - 26 days), the breakthrough bleeding was obviously quite distressing to deal with.
Two and half months ago, I started drinking ACV twice a day with baking soda and water (1 tbsp ACV, 1/4 tsp BS, 300 ml water). Since then, I have not had any breakthrough bleeding. My periods, except for this last one, were so light that I didn't even use tampons. I rarely soak a pad within 3 - 4 hours and can sleep for 8 hours at a time each night! My periods now last approximately 5 days, with very little bleeding after that time. I still control the pain with ibuprofen, but it is no longer debilitating. I have been able to increase the dosage interval to every 6 hours within one 24 hour period, thereby reducing my ibuprofen intake to 1600 vs 2400 mg per cycle. I was also diagnosed with an ovarian cyst (3.5 cm) that might likely be a chocolate cyst. I had occasional sharp pains coming from my ovaries before starting the ACV, but haven't had any such pains in the last 7 weeks. This, however, could be due to the daily dosage of chasteberry (Vitex agnus-castus -hard capsule 4 mg dried extract) which I have been taking for the last 5 weeks. I don't yet know whether the fibroid and/or the cyst have reduced in size, but I am feeling tremendously better -much healthier, less tired and run down. Also, I used to feel very depressed prior to my periods, but rarely feel this sadness anymore. I rode a rollercoaster of emotions, but this has stablised considerably. I feel happy and balanced most of the time, even the day or two before my period begins. I'll report back after my next ultrasound."

[YEA] 08/04/2010: Tammy from Pikeville, Ky writes: "Hi, I used the BSM for Fibroids before and had found them helpful and felt more energy overall also but they are nasty tasting to me and I got lazy and stopped. But my periods had gotten to the point of almost immobilizing me for 3 or 4 days and having to change clothes because of the sudden gushes. It seemed as if they lasted forever and I would be getting dizzy and lightheaded by the end and I was spotting almost all the time also. So I was reading on here and decided to get the BSM back out and start them again and also add ACV this time. I have been having 2 spoonfuls of BSM of the morning full strength (UGH) and then having a tablespoon of ACV in a 1/4 cup of tomato juice for lunch and supper. I have been at this for 2 weeks and then got my period. I still had pain but only lasted 1 day and could control with advil. Only had to change pads 2 times a day and I didn't bleed through or even come close to overflowing. I am so happy. Hopefully, next month will be even better since I will have been at this longer and maybe it will be doing something with the fibroids. I had been having the severe cramps and gushing for over a year straight so to see this change now I have to attribute it to the BSM and ACV. I don't think it was just a difference this time by nature because it has been so severe without change for so long."
09/03/2010: Sandy from Sherman Oaks, Ca, Usa replies: "Okay, I had a problem with my last post and got cut off so I'm back. The biggest thing about day 6 was that my fibroid on the left seems to have shrunk dramatically! It used to feel like I was carrying a grapefruit around and I could easily feel it just by touching my lower left side. Today is day 7 and my period is down to almost nothing! My period usually last 21-25 days!! My advice to anyone who tries this and her symptoms seem to get worse, that maybe your body NEEDED to purge the toxic mess from itself! Don't give up and keep it up. This stuff is a miracle!"

I planned to have my fibroids removed this summer as I have had enough of taking pain medication for many years. For the last couple of years, the pain felt like I was in labor whenever i had my period not to mention the "flooding, clots and bloating stomach". I learned about this site a couple of months ago and started taking the recommended 2tbsp ACV with 1/4 tsp baking soda mixed with 1/2 cup of warm water then followed by 1tsp of BSM then a whole glass of warm water. I took this in the morning and evening. My period in March was much better than when i used to have my period before I had fibroids. It was "normal", no bloating, little clots and I did not even know it came until i went to the bathroom. I used to get pains on my lower back and legs a couple of days before it started. I did not have to take pain medication at all. I waited for my next period before writing my comments and appreciation on this board for validation. The next period felt even better. I lost 8lbs for the last couple of months too. I hope the ACV with baking soda the BSM have shrunk my fibroids. I'll find out after my next OBGYN appointment.
Again THANK YOU everyone for sharing your experience/s and comments.."

[YEA] 09/03/2010: Sandy from Sherman Oaks, Ca, Usa replies: "I can't begin to express my gratitude for having found this website! My story is like many of you. I'm 49 years old and have been suffering for the past several years from periods that lasted 3 weeks with a short break in between, extremely heavy flow and lots of clotting, to the point where my quality of life had really deteriorated. I finally saw a doctor (no insurance) and was diagnosed with multiple fibroids, enlarged uterus, and too much endometrium. I was also very anemic, naturally. The doctor prescribed birth control pills to alleviate some of the bleeding, but said I would not get 100% relief and that my only choice was a hysterectomy. At first, I thought, "surgery, great! It will all be overwith! " But after having a moment to think, I realized major surgery is not something I want. So I consulted the web, and found this wonderful website! I pored over the testimonials for hours and finally came to the decision to try the ACV, BSM and baking soda route. I rushed out to Whole Foods and bought everything I needed. Coincidentally, I started the program on the first day of my period. I am taking 1 tbs ACV, 1/2 tsp baking soda in 8 oz. Water, followed by 1 tbs BSM straight from the spoon ( I don't mind the taste) morning and evening. The first two days were pretty light. Then, the usual much heavier flow began for the next two days. Then, on day 5... All hell broke loose!! I began hemorrhaging at around 11:30 am, passing multiple giant clots about every five minutes for about 4 hours straight! I thought I might have to go to the hospital for a transfusion. It finally subsided, leaving me exhausted and dizzy and wondering what had I done to myself?! By the next morning (day 6) the flow had decreased to moderate, but the strange thing was, my uterus no longer felt full, tight, and heavy AND believe it or not"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 02/02/2010: Goldenlady Kaiecie from London, Uk writes: "Hello Everyone!
I've been reading the posts on this site with great interest...so many of us have similar stories! So, I'd like to share mine with you...
I'm a (very young!) 45 year old black woman. Up until last year I had normal periods, heavy flow & cramps on the 1st day, gradually tailing off and coming to an end on day 4. However, last year I was diagnosed with one submucous fibroid (which was the size of a 3 1/2 month foetus) and several small intramural fibroids. My periods went up to 8 days (heavy for at least 5 days and very bad cramps for the first 2-3 days). I was getting through a 12-pack of pads per day for Days 1-3. Plus, regardless of my exercise regime, my once-flat tummy now resembles a woman who is 3-4 months pregnant. Not fun at all.
I visited 2 gynaecologists who gave varying drastic "suggestions" for treatment, including "microwaving the lining" of my uterus and a hysterectomy: I'm 45 with no kids, so I suppose that's why the male doctor felt these were options for me. I soon set him straight and put a flea in his ear in the process!!
My dear friend Janice sent me the link to this site, and I decided to try the apple cider vinegar and blackstrap molasses. A few days after my last period, I started with 30 mls ACV (2-3 large tablespoons), 1 tablespoon BSM, the juice of 1/2 a lime, mixed with 150 ml of hot water, twice a day.
Almost immediately, I started getting period cramps. Sometimes quite severe! I used a positive mental attitude to think that the cramps were related to my shrinking fibroids (lol!)
My period started on Saturday 3oth Jan. On the 1st day the flow was lighter than it has been in ages! On the 2nd day the flow was quite heavy and the cramps were awful. I went to a party, got home in the late hours of the morning and was tired all day Sunday, so I don't know if that was a contributing factor. However, in the past I wouldn't have felt comfortable leaving my house, let alone attending an all-night party!
BUT on Monday (Day 3) the flow had reduced to a trickle! Today is Day 4 and I'm only on panty-liners. I won't know if the fibroids have actually shrunk until my next check-up (next month), but I'm just glad it seems to have had a positive effect on my period!
This stuff has worked for me in a short space of time. My stomach has gone down a LITTLE. I just wish I'd known about this remedy before. I shall keep taking it and will let you know if the fibroids have shrunk.
Hope it works for everyone as well as it worked for me!
Peace & Blessings

I discovered last year that I had a fibroid a little smaller then a golf ball, which explained the heavy bleeding and large clots. I tried an herbal remedy for about 4 months, which seemed to be help up until last month. I an alternative that I could try, since it seemed that the pills I were taking were no longer helpful, and found this site. I read the other comments, and figured that I had nothing to lose. So I ran to Wholefoods and got the ACV(undistilled)and the Molasses and started immediately. I tried 2 tablespoons of ACV, and 1 of the Molasses and a little warm water(about quarter cup). At first I had to get past the taste, but found that it was more like drinking prune juice...really not that bad. I figured that I would do it twice a day, In the morning and before dinner. Well I have to report that my period this month was good! Cramps weren't an issue, barely any clots and only one day of somewhat heavy flow and I didn't have to run to the bathroom to change...I was pleasantly surprised. I'm going to continue this and see if it continues. Now if anyone has a remedy to get rid of the spotting before and after the normal flow, I'm all ears!!!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 09/28/2009: Rae from Chicago, Illinois Usa writes: "Just two days ago I started taking apple cider vinegar (ACV -> organic, raw, unfiltered, with "the mother") and black strap molasses (BSM -> unsulphured). I have been taking 1 tablespoon of each in warm (not boiling) water, followed by a glass of cool water three times per day to reduce excessive bleeding from some recently discovered fibroids.
Some background on me...
I had an emergency myomectomy performed seven years ago for a plum-sized fibroid that caused me to hemorrhage after giving birth. In 2005, scans showed that I was still fibroid free, and I thought all was well until earlier this month. My cycle started Sept. 1st, and it's STILL going. I went to the emergency room when the clots were so large that they scared me (about half the size of the palm of my hand). The ultrasounds indicated I had about three fibroids that are sub-mucosal, which resulted in the excessive bleeding. My doctor wants to perform hysteroscopy or another myomectomy to remove the fibroids.
I was prescribed Provera (10 days) to stop the bleeding, but it didn't work. (I was told that the Provera would stop the bleeding, but that I shouldn't be alarmed if my cycle resumes after it ends, since Provera can be used to start periods in some women.) The excessive bleeding and clots NEVER stopped. My doctor wants to prescribe something stronger so that the bleeding will stop and surgery can be scheduled, but I'm concerned that I'll end up in a fibroid removal rotation every few years when they keep growing.
My husband and I found this site just 2 days ago, and my husband picked up the ACV and BSM that afternoon. My bleeding was still just as heavy the first night after I began taking these products. As usual, I was up every 2 hours to use the bathroom and pass the clots. But 24 hours after I started, the bleeding was MUCH lighter, and I actually had some of my old energy back. My husband really noticed the difference, too. Instead of changing a large, overnight sanitary pad every 1.5 to 2 hrs, I was able to wear a much thinner liner. Yesterday and this morning were the first times I had used the bathroom without seeing a sea of red. I only saw urine in the toilet! (Apologies for being so graphic, but I thought these details might be helpful to someone else going through this.) Last night was the first time I've been able to sleep for more than two hours at a time! I didn't have all of the cramping and clotting. I also didn't feel my heart racing while I was lying down trying to sleep, which I've learned can be a sign of anemia.
This is my third day, and I'm still bleeding, but it is SO much lighter and I'm not passing huge clots. I did have a slight headache yesterday afternoon, and I have a slight one right now. Others have commented that this can occur because the ACV is removing the toxins from the body. In addition to the ACV and BSM, my husband picked up lots of organic fruits and veggies, so I've been eating those, too. I've always been slim, so I'm hoping that all of these healthy foods aren't going to cause me to lose any weight. If anyone has some ideas on ways to add some healthy bulk to this program, then I would appreciate it. I've always eaten a fair number of veggies and fruits, but I have a penchant for shellfish, a good steak, and homemade desserts, so I want to replace those calories with healthier bulk.
I have a consultation scheduled with another physician next week to determine whether I can safely adopt a wait-and-see approach. My goal is to continue the ACV and BSM over the next several months and monitor the size and number of fibroids. I will post updates to inform everyone of my progress. Many sincere thanks to everyone for posting your experiences on this site. Wishes for good health to all!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 08/07/2009: Steelblue from Warrenton, Va writes: "Last Year I was diagnosed and Prepped for Surgery due to a Fibroid and massive Bleeding every other week in a month. Well I would do anything to avoid Surgery and thought there has got to be a Natural Solution to dissolving it so I started looking for it on the Internet and found that a certain ACV with the Mother In it would dissolve the fibroid and the Unsulphured Black Strap Molasses would help with the Bleeding so I began taking both 2 Tablespoons each in a cup of Warm Not Hot Water. This is a Most Disgusting Drink and I had to figure out a different way to take. So I decided to just take the ACV straight off the Spoon. The ACV is very hard to handle at first straight but now after taking it, okay I forced myself to do it and kept thinking Surgery VS. Natural and well after doing this for 3 weeks without Fail, 2 Tbsps once a day there has been a considerable change in my health.
I noticed it in the first week but thought it was just Mind over matter but it really has done something. I have noticed the swelling has gone done, the pains I had have diminished and I feel less tired, drained. I also have no more Indigestion since taking the ACV. I had stopped taking the Blackstrap Molaasses for reasons of just Forgetfulness, so I have begun to take that now, last night since reading that it helps with Grey Hair which I have about 50 percent of it and since the Fibroid Diagnosis I noticed it was coming in at a drastic rate. I took it straight off the spoon, 2Tablespoons and I like it but then it reminds me of a Certain Brand Name All Natural Black Licorice and I Love that brand of Black Licorice. Anyhow I was reading that some say it the Molasses has Copper which is needed to possibly reverse grey Hair but then theres arguments of there is none in it at all considering the Label doesn't show it.
So I went to my Local Natural Market and asked the Lady there if there was any copper and if so how much percentage wise and would it work to reverse greying and if so How Much of it would a person need to take. The Lady went upstairs checked her book, the Blackstrap has 12 percent of Copper and you have to be careful of taking copper because it can become dangerous,so she said with me taking 2 Tbsp of it a day thats about 24 percent and it was an okay level. Now thing is she said that Trace Minerals is a Much better Solution to reversing Grey Hair, not so much the Molasses, it would take a Much longer if possible to reverse any grey. But getting Trace Minerals will bring back the Natural Hair Color and remove grey. So of course ee never got to finish the conversation on the trace Minerals as the Place was buzzing with People and she was the only one there working it but I will be seeing her soon to find out more of this Trace Minerals Concoction she is referring to as I do Not have the time or desire to color my Hair anymore and well theres just too much Grey anymore so it was getting very Costly.
Much Luck and Successs to Everyone. I will get back to you as soon as I find out more. Please be patient."
