[YEA]  03/14/2009: Kim from Gaffney, SC writes: "Hi everyone, I also use ACV for bladder infections. Just had one a couple of weeks ago. I drink as much of it straight as I can stand. I would say 1/4 cup at a time every couple hours. Let that sit in your stomach a little while 1/2 hour, then drink a full glass of water. It is horrible but the reward is amazing. By the next morning it is gone. You can also do the tablespoon in your water several times a day but when I do that the symtoms usually last for three days."

[YEA]  07/29/2009: Lou from Elma, WA replies: "This message to to Kim in Gaffney, S.C...Kim I've had a bladded/UTI infection since March '09 and its July. I tried the 1/4 cup ACV followed by a glass of water, then 2 hours later I did this again. It worked!! I'm sooo grateful for your post. I refuse to take antibiotics or any RX and this worked to perfection! Thank you so much, Lou"

[YEA]  03/09/2009: Kelley from Helena, US writes: "I just wanted to share this with everyone, I have had chronic bladder infections for years and one day I got one and had no Insurance so I saw that the Apple Cider Vineger helps with multiple problems in the body. It got rid of my infection, every time I get an infection I take a couple of ACV pills and within 6 hours it is gone. Great stuff!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  03/07/2009: Tamara from Santa Barbara, California, CA writes: "ACV is instantaneous! I knew I was in trouble this morning and being a Saturday I knew I would sit all day in urgent care. I was already drinking a strong solution of unsweetened cranberry and pure water--half and half. Then I read your site but didn't think I had any ACV--I got the flashlight out and there was a bottle in the back of the cabinet. I got a soft cloth, wet it with warm water and added about a tablespoon of ACV and wrung the sloth out. Then I applied the cloth to my poor burning urethra --just holding it there--and immediate relief! After that I have taken 8oz of water with 2 tbsp of ACV and we'll see what it does. I also took a fem-dophilus. It is just plain old ACV from the grocery store not the health food store kind. I'll keep you posted!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  03/03/2009: Ann from Underhill Center, VT writes: "After 8 months of reocurring bladder infection/irritation I began taking ACV for my varicose veins. To my surprise, my bladder symptoms almost stopped. I am looking for any other measures I can take to increase my bladder health. IN the last three months I never got a full-blown infection but just a constant feeling of irritation.

Thank you!

Annie"

[YEA]  02/02/2009: Valtrude from Gold Coast , Australia writes: "I had a bladder infection which came on suddenly and servearly, I went on the web and found a feedbach of a woman. I immediately tried it whith the ACV I have in my pantry bought in supermarket and after 2 glasses it was gone, no trace of it back. Being desperate I put a shot glas of vinegar in a 8 ounce water glas and gulped it, another in half an hour. Gone. I use this vinegar in my salad dressing so I don't find it discusting. Also my allergies have dissappeared and my reflux problems seem to have gone. I since have taken a glas mid morning and mid afternoon. Regards Valtrude"

[YEA]  02/01/2009: Deanna from Nashville, TN writes: "ACV and my bladder infection: In the past I had tried ACV for an ulcer and it significantly eased the pain. I have recently become more frequent in the number of bladder infections I was getting, from maybe one a year to 3 or 4. This stuff is amazing. I just wonder what all else this stuff can do for people that we don't even know yet. I used about 2 tablesponns to a 12oz bottle of water. Feel sooo much better. To urinate is a good thing :) This website is awesome Thanks so much."

[YEA]  01/24/2009: Elizabeth from Small town, Indiana writes: "OMG! I had both hips replaced six months ago, and my physician told me "if you get a UTI (urinary tract infection), you need to get it treated ASAP because there is a strong possibility the infection could spread to your hip joints". What do I wake up with Thursday? A severe UTI, including blood and blood clots in my urine. As an RN, I know when I'm in trouble, and I knew exactly what I had to do -- get to my doctor. But my doctor was gone until Monday. So I figured I'd try something a patient had shared with me years ago, but I pooh-poohed it (because I knew better, after all, I was part of the medical community). So I buy my organic, unfiltered, apple cider vinegar and put it in water just like everyone is saying to do. Not immediate results, but I liked what was happening as I peed more and more clear urine and the horrible urgency and stinging was going away. This is Saturday, and I have absolutely no trace of any infection (even by urine dipstick, which is used in most medical offices). Thanks everyone for your honesty and methods. I truly believe you saved me from having further infection in my body, and probably around my hip prosthetics. LOVE YOU ALL!"

[YEA]  01/17/2009: Charlene from Tucson, Arizona writes: "I GOT UTI/BLADDER INFECTION RELIEF USING APPLE CIDER VINEGAR! I added 2-4 tbls, of ACV to 8 oz., cold filtered water and felt relief after drinking the concoction! It took about 16 hours before I felt a lot better! The problem I had is that the mixture was so awful tasting that I got pretty severe nausea while drinking it! I even threw up a little from it! IT'S THAT GROSS!!! Next time I am going to drink a teaspoon of ACV straight up at the very first signs of possible infection."

01/20/2009: Sarah from Portland, OR replies: "If you drink ACV straight it may cause and upset stomach and digestive distress. It's best to mix it with water. If the taste is too horrible you can mix honey with it, but for a UTI honey probably isn't the best idea due to the sugar."

03/26/2009: Jada from Aloha, Oregon replies: "Honey is not sugar, nor does it cause bodily reactions like sugar. In fact, honey is actually an antimicrobial agent. Honey will not affect your body adversely like sugar does when trying to cure an ailment. If anything, honey would do you more good than harm."

04/20/2009: cgrl from molokai, HI replies: "Apple Cider Vinegar - as far adding the honey in the mix... yes, it's ok as long as the honey is not processed in any way. get the local thick stuff from a health food store or farmer's market."

[YEA]  01/13/2009: Kate from Brisbane, Australia writes: "Just a little feedback on the ACV remedy to post on the site.

I used ACV to manage the pain from my urinary tract infection (not cure the actual infection).

I had a urinary tract infection (UTI) for about three days. On the third day I was in excruciating pain. I went to the doctor and was given a course of antibiotics and started taking them right away. Unfortunately the antibiotics, although killing off the bacteria, do not help to manage the pain and discomfort in the meantime. Plus, using over the counter remedies to manage the symptoms, such as the Ural sachets, is not an option as they prevent the antibiotics from working.

I had heard ACV helped many women suffering from thrush infections feel better, but was sceptical. Still, in total desperation and unbearable pain, I added two cups of white vinegar (as this was all I had on hand) to a warm, ankle-deep bath. The white vinegar helped a tiny bit. It was enough to help me hobble down the road to pick up some ACV. Again, I added two cups to a warm, ankle-deep bath and sat in it for about half an hour.

The relief! I have no more soreness or burning! I still feel like I desperately need to pee (which is a symptom of the UTI), but I suppose the antibiotics will help that. ACV worked so well in managing my UTI symptoms - I have no idea what I would have done without it. I am so pleased now that the pain has gone and I can concentrate on other things again. I will definitely tell my friends about this one. I also plan to keep a bottle of ACV in the first aid kit for times when I may need it."

[YEA]  01/11/2009: Shantay from Garland, TX writes: "Oh my God where do I began. Like many of you I have had a bladder infection also known as UTI and it was so bad on Sunday 01/11/09 I work up and had to urinate and it was filled with blood. I had this now for 2 weeks and I have tried everything. I found this website and saw the testimonials on ACV and I rushed to the store in alot of pain and I came home put to tablespoons in a bottle of 8oz water and when I say I immediatly felt relief of the pain and pressure i couldn't beleive it. I had only drank a half bottle of it and I could already start to feel the difference. This really works. I didn't have medical insurance, and if I could give any woman any advice to help them this is most definelty a perfect remedy for bladder infection and UTI. Please try this it will help you and you too will be amazed. Thank God for this website, Thank God!"

03/19/2009: TONI from LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, USA replies: "Make sure you only take teaspoonful with water at a time.

P.S. I really don't know the best dose but I heard it is good to use teaspoon and water?"

[YEA]  01/03/2009: Danielle from Cranston, RI, USA writes: "I woke up this morning with a really bad bladder infection. I looked up home remedies for a UTI and came across this site. I took a shot glass and poured ACV from Whole Foods in it and then poured that into a water bottle full of cold water. I then chugged the whole thing and ate a few fresh strawberries to get the taste out of my mouth! Anyways, within 20min I already felt better and went back to sleep. I woke up two hours later and had no bladder pain at all! When I urinated the pain was completely gone. Thank you SO much everyone! I will now be drinking ACV everyday after reading this site and experiencing the benefits first hand! God Bless all of you!

Best Wishes,
Danielle <3"

[YEA]  12/15/2008: Donna from Port Huron, MI, USA writes: "To those of you who commented that you soaked in a tub with a solution of ACV because of a urinary infection, and another who used a cotton ball and applied the ACV that way, I have done something simpler that worked almost immediately (for females).

For a few years, I was getting terribly painful urinary infections. I would need medication and I would be off work for at least 3 days and in pain for at least a week. I am talking screaming pain here. It was horrible.

I woke up in the middle of the night with another infection and knew that I would need to go to Emergency. I did not want to wake my husband up for another hour or two so he could take me to Emergency and go straight to work. So in desperation, I went to my books to see if there was anything I could do to relieve the pain temporarily. In a book on Water Therapy, I found instructions for an ACV/water douche. Fortunately, I had a set as part of a hot water bottle kit.

I tried it; the burning pain left almost instantly and I fell asleep. In the morning, the infection was completely gone. I didn't even have discomfort. I have not had a urinary infection since then (more than 30 years). At the first sign, I use ACV solution. I take it in my first aid kit when I travel or go backpacking in the bush. It is remarkable. Under those circumstances, when I travel light, I just use a facecloth soaked in the warm solution.

You are right; ACV is probably the most amazing of all remedies.

My father began taking it with honey in his 50's and never had another cold despite the cold MidWest winters."

04/08/2009: Janet from Cornwall, Ontario Canada replies: "I went to the local health food store and I bought [...] apple cidar vinigar [...]. I have just drank two teaspoons in 10 ounces of water and I have tested my urin PH level and it went from 5.8 to 6.8 and I have no more uerthera burning.....I will see if this makes thing better I will keep at it tomorrow as well, I had posted earlier about the old wives tales, having much TRUTH I believe. I hope this continues to work, like I said I will continue with it tomorrow too, and I have also started eating raw carrots and celery and apples, which are all great too, to help this problem.......and some pure cranberry and dandelion and juniper mixed together for a natural light diuretic effect to help flush the out everything. ACV, also is a natural buffer which helps relieve the body of toxins to my understanding and has GREAT anitbacterial effect in it and strong sertilzation effect too, so in other words makes for a wonderful bacterial killer, GOOD thing....I hope keeps working!"

[YEA]  11/26/2008: Lori from Hammond, Indiana writes: "For about 2 yrs. I've been suffering from UTI's/Bladder Infections and most recently, Yeast Infections. I have been to the ER I don't know how many times, then I found a dr. that deals in that. I kept having UTI's and Bladder Infections and he kept prescribing my antiboitics, it got to the point where the antiboitics stopped working, I recently tried the ACV and I feel so much better! It really works. If I knew about this a long time ago it would of saved me a lot of trips to the ER. And I also love the added things it does for me, I have A TON of energy, my hair looks and feels a lot better, I went for a check-up last Monday and I lost 4 lbs. and I wasn't even trying. Trust me ladies, u should try the ACV!"

[YEA]  11/03/2008: Wendy from A very small town, USA writes: "I had a problem with frequent UTI's due to bladder retention. Nothing ever suggested to me prevented them and I've tried everything. My Doctor even wanted to put me on a low dose daily antibiotics. A friend sent my this web site thank God! Felt a difference the first day! The first day I probably went a little overboard taking a straight shot of ACV then drinking 2tbs of ACV per glass of water all through out the day. Now I take a maintenance dose of 2TBS per glass of water three times per day. So far so good. I'll update if there are any changes."

11/08/2008: Hannes from Mirabel, Quebec, Canada replies: "I have large scale retention problems causing bladder infections. ACV worked very well. But to fix the underlaying cause which is retention, I am heading for surgery next month. I was informed that with a high level of retention I'm facing deterioration of bladder and it's function and that extended backpressure due to inadequate urine flow or blockage may eventually lead to kidney problems. I decided not to let that develop. Hope my experience gives you some useful info."

11/20/2008: Hannes from Montreal, Quebec, Canada replies: "Wendy, I put an update on maintenance under my section that might interest you. Can you share your experience with maintenance, so far."

A lot of Water as well as cranberry juice (no sugars) mixed with Apple cider vinegar works very well, but you have to drink a lot of all of them. It was gone within 3-5 days. (If you are bleeding do this still, I've bled with the infection and this really helped me. Be persistent with it.)"

[YEA]  10/27/2008: Hannes from Montreal, Quebec, Canada writes: "Being on intermittent catheders and recently gone through cystoscopy and then cystogram, I contracted 3 consecutive bladder infections inside of 2 1/2 months and took 3 full cycles of cypro, one to cure each. When the fouth infection built up in the 3rd month, with same symptoms as the first 3, I did not want yet more antibiotics and found this site. Tried ACV as described by others, symptoms left within 3 days, had a chem stick test done on 4th day and was found free of bladder infection. Thanks, guys!

The only question left is that when using catheders, the urethra does not "get flushed out" since in this case urin flows through a plastic tube instead - so could in this case an infection remain in the urethra.
So far no such indication.

In any case, I now continue with a mainteneance dose of ACV for the period of intermittant catheder use."

11/02/2008: Christina from somewhere, N.Carolina replies: "Just thought you should know that the antibiotic called Cipro causes seizures. My sister took it for a UTI & 3 or 4 months{yes, months!} later she had a seizure from it & spent a week in the hospital! If you look up Cipro online, you'll see all the side effects. They are trying to take it off the market and there are law suits pending. My sister has to take meds. for 6 months to prevent more seizures. I hope this helps..."

[YEA]  11/07/2008: Hannes from Mirabel, Quebec, Canada replies: "UPDATE: In my case, ACV worked very well both to kill a 4th recurring infection and then, on maintenence dose, to keep recurrance away (in spite of higher risks due to self catherderizing). As a matter of caution, I checked the kidney area daily while curing, by bouncing the wrists into the back side where the kidneys reside, assuring no pain developed and and also checked temperature; the warning is clear: Bladder infections, if treated ineffectively, can lead to kidney infections (requiring immediate professional emergency actions) and may lead to kidney failure and even shut-down!

I'm glad I found this site and thrilled that for me ACV works so well, considering a reply from Christina regarding Cipro."

11/10/2008: London from Sandusky , Ohio replies: "That's crazy that Cipro causes seizures. I just googled it. Wow. It did give me yet another raging yeast infection, though."

11/20/2008: Hannes from Montreal, Quebec, Canada replies: "UPDATE on maintenence: Just before week-end I got sloppy with my maintenence dose intake and also got exerted physically. By early week I had the next bladder infection going as confirmed by chem strip test. This time it took more time and higher amounts of ACV than ever before to get the infection in check; it's still not totally cleared although most symptoms have subsided. So I am wondering if, by using longer term AVC maintenance doses, one runs a risk of developing an ACV-resistant bacteria culture! I now think more needs to be learned about maintenance usage."

05/22/2009: Amanda from Long Beach, CA USA replies: "DO NOT EVER TAKE CIPRO!!! This medication has crippled my father for LIFE! Avoid Cipro at all costs please..."

05/22/2009: B from NY, NY replies: "That is because, it has been reported, hospitals reuse catheders."

05/23/2009: Anonymous from Anonymous, USA replies: "Doesn't CIPRO cause fluoride poisoning?"

EC: According to Jason Uttley, Cipro does indeed cause fluoride poisoning. Read his fantastic article on our fibromyalgia page.

[YEA]  10/17/2008: London from Sandusky, Ohio writes: "There's nothing like having a BV, and a UTI, simultaneously. I have been battling a severe bladder infection for the last week or so. I have been taking UVA URSI, which is my usual routine, when I get a bladder infection, but this time, it wasn't enough. Once I drank white vinegar, which was way too harsh. I was in such pain! I couldn't sit still. I could not lay down. The only thing that soothed me was sitting on the toilet for 15 minutes at a time, pushing a little urine out, or sitting in the bath.

One morning, I was in such pain, I could barely walk, and MY KIDNEYS HURT!(Lower back pain), and I had chills and felt like I was going to throw up. My Mom kept on pressuring me to go to the emergency room. I don't have insurance. Anyways, I consulted this blessed site, and decided to give apple cider vinegar a try. I took a lot, all day, I drank about 3 tbsp in a tall glass of water, several times a day. By the first few hours, the pain subsided, I could not believe it, it really helped me. I'm not exactly good about drinking a lot of fluids during a bladder infection, but since this was helping the (most uncomfortable feeling in the world), I was all about it. I honestly didn't think this would help, my advanced bladder infection, but it is. I'm on my third day, so far so good."

[WARNING!]  10/25/2008: London from Sandusky, Ohio replies: "UPDATE. OK guys, I ended having to go to the hospital with a mild kidney infection, and getting Cipro- antibiotics. Now, I'm not saying apple cider vinegar does not work, I believe it does. It helped me with the pain, and staved it off for awhile, but my infection I think, had gone on too long, and was too much, and too advanced for the vinegar cure. Vinegar does work, (and I'm all about for curing yourself independently), for milder cases, but, if you really think you may be having a serious problem, like (Fever, chills), go to the emergency room, and get a taken care of."

[YEA]  10/07/2008: Melissa from Cardiff by the Sea, CA writes: "I too suffer with UTI's and had been suffering from a really bad one up until last Sunday. All of last week and into the weekend I was urinating blood and blood clots! It was super painful to say the least! I went online and found a lot of information on ACV and quickly picked some up at the store on Sunday. Sunday evening I drank two tbs. mixed in 8oz. of warm water and the next morning, I was amazed at the results. I could finally urinate pain free and there was absolutely no blood! It is now Tuesday, and I have been continuing the ACV (3 tbs. in water, 3 times a day) and it's insane how much better I feel! The UTI is gone! I would recommend ACV to anyone over nasty antibiotics!"

[YEA]  10/05/2008: Roni from Holualoa, Hawaii writes: "Look, after a couple of years of recurrent UTI's, and heavy antibiotic use for one infection or another, I am very skeptical of using antibiotics as a one stop cure all. After a couple of years fighting depression, mood swings, gastro disorders, weight gain and inexplicable tiredness, I really must say I think antibiotic over use has put me in a position where my immune system cannot fight off small infections very well.

Anyways, my Dad used to always harp on about ACV and I always thought he was nuts, because he's a nutty individual lol.

I do not have medical insurance, I'm worn down, cran tablets, cran extract with stevia and candida tablets DID NOT WORK. Not eating any carbs, sugar or refined foods for several days, flushing with water. My condition worsened still. I guess I had a persistent case of UTI. With the burning sensation of my uretha, coupled with the terrible back pain, fever, swollen abdomen, being hot alternatiing with being cold I knew I could not waste too much time as my UTI would persist and I am not one to want to waste precious time when I know its possible to be enjoying life without feeling really awful.

After visiting this site and trying a good few remedies, I can honestly say "STOP!" Stop what you are doing, dont waste your time with sugar laden cran juice - Drink lots of water to flush and I say a SHOT GLASS full of ACV in a 500 ml bottle of purified, chilled water.

Do not waste your time with the store shelf aecetic acid version of apple cider vinegar - use ____ with the Mother in it and the results are far more amazing and quicker than the brownish yucky after taste garden variety cider vinegar which I think is effective, but crappy next to the highly effective ____ version.

Do the shot glass mix of ACV in the bottled water and refrain from consuming sugars and refined carbs for at least a couple of days, eat fresh and drink your acv mix.

I think the ACV akalizes the body and causes the bacteria in the urinary tract to die off at a rapid rate. It also helps balance your body PH levels so that your body starts to function well and fight off nasty invaders itself.

Unfortunately, our modern diets laden with foods that change our PH levels to become too acidic make it hard for the body to fight infection.

With continued use of ACV you start to get more energy with little or no come down, your body metabolizes fat better so a side effect is gradual weight loss with little or no change in one's habits - but most importantly its a great natural fix when you're feeling really run down from a UTI -

Im so happy to have re-found ACV in my life. Im happy my Dad the nut still recommends it and that mostly IT WORKS!!! Good luck to your low cost cures! Roni"

[YEA]  08/30/2008: Linda from San Francisco, California writes: "Apple Cider Vinegar was the best thing for me during my painful bladder infection, Thanks to you all who posted this remedy on this site. I've only had a bladder infection one other time in my life, 16 years ago. I had full medical benefits at the time, so I went to my doctor and got some medications. At this time in my life, I don't have medical benefits, so when I woke up yesterday morning and went to urinate, (the pain was unmistakeable, I knew what it was right away), I got on the internet right away and found this site, thank God.

I poured 8 ozs of water into a glass, and put in two tablespoons of ACV. I drank it down real fast. When I urinated about 1/2 hour later, it wasn't painful anymore. I drank 8ozs of water every hour all day, and about every 4th glass contained the ACV. I also monitored my urine's pH balance with pH sticks. I wanted to make sure I was staying alkaline. I had a low grade fever all day, and I rested and tried to nap most of the day. Before bed, I drank another 8 ozs of water with two tablespoons of ACV. I woke up this morning after sleeping through without waking up a full 7 hours. When I urinated there was no pain at all. I don't have a low grade fever this morning. Thanks to you all and your posts, I stayed away from coffee and sweets all day yesterday as well. I'm sure that helped tremendously. I'm going to continue drinking water and alternating with ACV today and probably tomorrow too, just to make sure the bacteria is gone. Thank you so much for your information on this site, you all are awesome!"

I headed to this site and found acv as a cure for bladder infections. This was a bad one so it took about 3 days, plus I spent 1 day taking capsules- which did no good. It had to be the bottled stuff. I hate the taste, but can't argue with the results. No more UTI!"

[YEA]  07/22/2008: Robin from Ladera Ranch, CA writes: "I have had urinary infections since age 17 and I am now 32. Many years they have been every month. In 2006 it was so bad that my doctor said it was due to the way that I'm wired. He said that a certain tube may be too short and it allows bacteria to move around my system faster. He said I would have to be on antibiotics for long periods of time throughout my life (6 months at a time or more). I HATE antibiotics because I've been on them long term before and it really damaged my immune system. Now, at all costs, I try not to take them unless extremely necessary. I changed my life and did everything they said to do. I started to go after sex, wipe correctly, etc.. I drink tons of water on a daily basis and then this week I drank a lot of alcohol one night (bacteria feed on sugar and alcohol) and got a HORRIBLE infection. I was rocking back and forth on the toilet while nothing came out, etc.. I thought, "there HAS to be something besides antibiotics that will work!!!" I searched and found this site and read about Apple Cider Vinegar. I went to the store, came home and put a little more than 2 tbsp in about 10-12 ounces of water. I mixed it with honey. I'd say within 30 minutes the pain started going away!!! I did the treatment twice more that day and three times the day after. IT IS GONE. I waited to write on this site to make sure it was really gone and IT IS GONE!!! I wish I would have known about this years ago!!! I had a similar situation with my son and multiple ear infections, years of struggle and antibiotics and garlic oil cured him, so that gave me faith in non-pharticeutical alternatives!!! I am amazed and I will continue to try home remedies first before rushing to the doctor on things that I know won't kill me. This is wonderful. I am so happy. Thank you everyone."

10/09/2008: Jessica from Sparta, Tennessee replies: "Hi I was reading your comments on here and noticed you mentioned you started going after sex, and starting wipeing correctly along with the ACV. What do you mean you started going after sex? Does this do something for the bladder infections? Cause I never heard this. Thanks Jessica"

EC: Robin probably means that she immediately went to the bathroom to pee after having sex (a recommendation most docs will make re bladder infections).
